How's your jaw?
Ahhh hi!!!! It's doing okay! It's been a little over two weeks since I did the injections and he said that it takes about two weeks for it to fully kick in. I think I'm clenching less overall, but by the end of the day I still usually have some degree of muscle pain in my face. I think I do a lot of like, habitual constant clenching (almost like "in the background") and then have shorter bursts of more intense clenching interspersed that tend to be more related to focus/immediate stress/etc - it seems like I have less of the background clenching and I'm better able to catch myself in the moment with the more intense episodes.
Stress, caffeine, and my ADHD meds definitely make the clenching worse in general, so like usually I try to take fewer/lower doses and lay off the caffeine when I have less on my plate BUT I'm currently working on some of the last revisions for my thesis (I'm so close to being done with this thing forever and I'm ready to dropkick it into the sun) so the stress+caffeine+no med breaks is kind of inevitable right now. So actually it's pretty impressive that I'm noticing any difference at all even WITH those factors at play.
It's been really interesting that my masseter muscles already feel slightly smaller and definitely a lot.... softer? Like when I bite down and touch them, it feels more like a ball of stiff clay rather than a golf ball lol, like I can push into them a bit with my fingertips which I definitely could not do before. I genuinely did not realize how overdeveloped they were before this - I was talking to a friend about how the dentist had said I had "the Arnold Schwarzenegger of masseters" and I had commented that I don't really know how mine compare to other people's since I don't exactly go around feeling people's faces and she had me feel hers and uhhhhhhhhh WOW. I was genuinely shocked at how minimal hers felt in comparison. Apparently it is NOT normal for your masseter muscles to feel like actual golf balls under your skin, who knew!!!!
The injections themselves were pretty painless, most of them less painful than like a flu shot. I got a lot of uncomfortable pressure in my ears almost immediately, but I suspect that has more to do with how I had to spend quite a bit of time clenching/biting down hard for him to examine the muscles and place the injections. I've had a lot of chronic ear issues over the years and some Eustachian tube dysfunction type stuff, which tbh may very well be related to TMJ dysfunction. The ear pressure dissipated after two or three days, and it could be a placebo but it seems like they've felt less full since then. Other than the ear pressure, I did feel kind of generally achy and vaguely yucky the first two days afterwards, almost like I was getting the flu. Apparently that's not unheard of but some Tylenol took care of most of it.
Importantly, I haven't had any other bits of bone poking through my gums! Time will tell in that regard, since there was about five months in between the two times it happened. The area of my gums where the one piece of bone came out feels a lot smoother/flatter than it did before this whole debacle, which makes me wonder if there wasn't some general inflammation or soft tissue build up around it. The other side of my mouth does have a bump that seems to come to a point and my regular dentist said it does feel kind of sharp beneath the gum tissue, so I wouldn't be surprised if it eventually pushes through but at least if that happens I'll know what's going on.
I go back in two-ish weeks for follow up and he said I'll probably need more injections then but that it likely won't be as many as before. The first round he did 60 units but I don't really have an estimate as to how many it might be for the second round. As long as it helps, I don't particularly care how much they inject, although less is definitely better for my wallet. I haven't heard back on whether or not insurance will cover it. They probably won't since it's an off label use and teeth are considered optional by insurance companies, but the clinic said they would at least try to get it covered, which I appreciate.

———————————
The Wakandan sunrise bathed the royal palace in hues of gold and amber, but Shuri couldn’t bring herself to admire its beauty. She leaned against her lab table, staring blankly at the holographic screen before her. The message Riri had sent the night before still lingered in her mind: “I’m heading back to MIT. I think we need some space.” The words cut deeper than any weapon ever could. Shuri replayed their last few months together—Riri’s easy laughter, the way her eyes lit up when she solved a problem, the way she always managed to anchor Shuri when the weight of the crown felt unbearable. But lately, that anchor had slipped. Their late-night conversations had grown shorter, their stolen moments fewer and farther between.
Riri sat cross-legged on her bed at MIT, headphones on but music paused, her thoughts louder than any beat. She stared at the sleek bracelet on her wrist, a Wakandan design Shuri had crafted just for her. It glimmered faintly, a reminder of everything they’d shared. “You’re gonna break my heart, aren’t you?” Riri whispered to herself, fingers tracing the edges of the bracelet. It wasn’t that Shuri didn’t care—she cared too much, maybe. But that intensity, that drive to save the world, left little room for anything else. And Riri, no matter how brilliant or tough she was, had started to feel like she was standing in the shadow of a queen who didn’t even realize she was casting one.
Days turned into weeks without a word. Shuri buried herself in her work, though her heart wasn’t in it. Her lab, once a sanctuary, felt hollow without Riri’s curious questions and playful banter. Finally, it was Okoye who forced her hand. “You are not yourself,” she told Shuri one evening, standing firm as the younger woman tried to deflect. “If this girl means so much to you, why are you sitting here sulking instead of going to her?” Shuri hesitated but knew Okoye was right. That night, she boarded a jet to Boston, determination burning in her chest.
When Riri opened her dorm room door, she froze. Shuri stood there, drenched from the rain, her normally composed expression raw with emotion. “You could’ve told me,” Shuri said, her voice soft but steady. “You could’ve told me you felt like this.” Riri crossed her arms, though her resolve was already cracking. “And what would you have done, Shuri? Built me a vibranium bandaid for my feelings?” Her voice wavered, and Shuri winced at the bitterness. “I would’ve listened,” Shuri replied. “I would’ve tried.” Her words hung heavy in the air. Finally, Riri stepped aside, letting her in.
The hours that followed were filled with tears and honesty. They sat on Riri’s tiny couch, knees brushing as they talked. Riri confessed the doubts that had festered in her heart—the fear that she’d never be enough for someone as extraordinary as Shuri. Shuri, in turn, shared the weight of her own insecurities, the crushing guilt she felt for letting Riri slip away. “You’re not an afterthought,” Shuri said, her voice breaking. “You’re the only thing that makes all of this—me—bearable.” Slowly, hesitantly, Riri reached for her hand. When their fingers intertwined, it felt like something finally clicked back into place.
It wasn’t long before their words gave way to silence, the kind that spoke volumes. Riri leaned in first, her lips brushing Shuri’s in a kiss that was soft, tentative, and yet laced with the fire that had always burned between them. Shuri’s hand cupped Riri’s cheek, her touch reverent, like she was holding something sacred. They stayed like that, locked in a moment that felt timeless, as if the rest of the world had fallen away.
As the rain outside turned into a gentle drizzle, they moved to Riri’s bed, finding comfort in each other’s arms. Shuri whispered against Riri’s lips, “I’ll never let you down again.” Her words were a promise, a vow sealed by the way she held Riri like she was the most precious thing in the world.
The next morning, sunlight streamed through the curtains, casting a warm glow over their tangled forms. Riri traced lazy circles along Shuri’s bare shoulder, her touch tender. “So,” she murmured, a soft smile tugging at her lips, “what happens now?” Shuri rolled onto her side, brushing a stray curl away from Riri’s face. “We figure it out,” she said simply. “Together.” And for the first time in weeks, Riri felt like she could breathe again.
The road ahead wouldn’t be easy—there would be more battles to fight, more challenges to face. But as they lay there, wrapped in each other’s arms, they knew one thing for certain: whatever came next, they would face it together. Because love, imperfect and complicated as it was, was worth fighting for.

I will be posting part two tmr depending on how well this goes but yeah 😭 bye guyysssss.

Vessel biology the 4th
I can do this all day(lying). This one is going to be shorter(probably lying). It’s the product if my late night brain(actually true)
Out of all of the vessels hatched there any very well have been a pure one. The tragedy is that such a being would genuinely have no mind to think and thus would never have even tried to reach the king or escape being crushed to death under their siblings.
Vessels get their oversized heads from their father. This might just be canon
Vessels varryingly have some internal organs, most of which are made of void but some of which are normal(for an wyrm-root hybrid abomination that is). The void ones can be reshaped if damaged, hence why THK impaling themselves during the fight doesn’t immediately kill them.
The mind of a vessel is evenly split between their shade and their shell. So every shade in the abyss corresponds to a broken-but not dead- vessel shell in the abyss. It’s also why Ghost can act independently as their shell to reclaim their shade.
THKs shade, and specifically their crack/scar, shows that shades can be damaged. I imagine this is a symptom of immense exposure to light but also psychological distress.
Shades also might not be entirely void, mostly void sure, but not entirely. This comes down to their eyes, specifically that their eyes cast a pale light like their parents. I imagine if you painstakingly removed all of a shades void you’d be left with the pale, underdeveloped soul of a baby god.
The void doesn’t really consume things it takes in so much as holds them. The only things that do get broken down and rendered into their basic particles are the lights of gods. Even then a strong enough light may hold back the void. (Kinda not sure on this one rereading it later)
The amount a light is effective against the void is based on its quality, with very cold or low output lights actually doing better. The brighter the light the deeper the shadow afterall.
the horns the vessels have are in the shape their burrowing teeth would have been if they’d been born Wyrms.
There are more vessels that escaped Hallownest entirely like Little Ghost, the further from Hallownest the fewer you’ll see though.
that’s not to say there’s a lot though, maybe like 100 or so still alive.
Vessels, once they begin to develop their identities, tend to pick a hobby or skill and build their identity out from there.
Ghost did this with cartography and cooking to begin with, but generally have more interests than other vessels.
Despite being a sort of woody material the shells of vessels give off a sound like porcelain and are fairly brittle.
Vessels don’t really understand time very well as a result of being born from the void. They might understand it intellectually but it doesn’t really apply to them the way it does to other beings.
Some vessels would have developed the ability to influence the passage of time if they’d survived- theirs is the power opposed afterall.
Vessels might not really have a sense of sight, like they don’t really have eyes but holes where they should be. Their senses are probably more like a rolling general awareness of where things are, textures, ect. I’m not sure how much I agree with this but it’s an idea I had.
Vessels don’t really give off pheromones other bugs can detect. And the void actively dampens any they do make, this same effect applies to most things regarding others prying into the thoughts of vessels too.
this might be why the pale king didn’t know hollow was impure.

IN THESE TIMES
The future of the four-day work week is looking brighter after the results of a major new study were released last month.
Nearly 3,000 workers at over 60 organizations took part in the latest trial of reduced working time — and the findings surpassed most expectations. A large majority of workers reported significant improvements in their quality of life. And it wasn’t just employees who preferred the shorter working week: more than 90% of employers who participated opted to continue the arrangement.
The U.K.-based experiment introduced a four-day week or equivalent cut in hours, with no loss of pay, from June to December 2022. Research teams at Boston College, Cambridge University and the London think tank Autonomy studied the effects. Overall, workers reported lower levels of stress and burn out, higher job satisfaction and less conflict between work and family demands. They also said they felt more capable at work and better able to manage their time.
Almost all (96%) said they preferred working four days and most put a high value on their new free time. Asked how much money would persuade them to return to a five-day week, 29% said they would want a 26-50% pay increase, while 8% wanted more than 50% and another 15% said no amount of money would lure them back.
Employers benefited as well. Compared with the pre-trial period, there were fewer staff resignations and days off for illness. Revenues saw a slight increase. Asked to score their experience on a scale from 0 (negative) to 10 (positive), the average among employers was 7.5 for productivity and 8.3 overall.
One likely reason for the trial’s success is that it recognized there was no one-size-fits-all formula. Each organization could choose its own approach to work time reduction so long as it offered significant reductions without loss of pay. The trial was also meticulously prepared, with two months of workshops, coaching, mentoring and peer support, drawing on experience from earlier pilots in more than 100 companies in the United States, U.K., Australia, Canada and Ireland. This approach was geared to help participants improve well-being and economic prosperity at the same time — by designing new working practices and changing company culture.
The trial took place during a pitched moment in history, as evolving digital communications combined with a global pandemic to wreak havoc on the concept of “normal” employment. More employees than ever could work anytime and anywhere with a suitable device and internet signal. And most everyone who took part had fresh memories of when workplaces closed down, human proximity seemed lift-threatening and online meetings redefined personal interaction.
In some ways, the Covid pandemic gave the four-day week a boost by forcing companies to adapt to new ways of thinking and working. One manager of a manufacturing company in the UK trial observed, “I think we have come out of the pandemic with a new outlook on life… There’s a greater expectation around flexible working, hybrid working — people are taking that opportunity to think ‘I want to do something completely different.’”

Understanding the Cost of Robotic Surgery in India: Is It Worth It?
Medical advancements have significantly transformed the way surgeries are performed, and robotic surgery has emerged as one of the most revolutionary techniques. It offers enhanced precision, faster recovery, and minimal complications. However, one of the key concerns for patients considering robotic-assisted procedures is the cost.
Tumblr media
If you are exploring robotic surgery in India, understanding the cost factors, benefits, and whether it's worth the investment is crucial. Moreover, choosing the best robotic surgeon in Delhi can make a significant difference in the success of the procedure.
What is Robotic Surgery?
Robotic surgery is a minimally invasive technique where a surgeon controls robotic arms to perform precise movements. The Da Vinci Surgical System is one of the most commonly used robotic platforms, enabling high-definition 3D vision and enhanced maneuverability compared to traditional surgery.
Robotic surgery is widely used for procedures in urology, gynecology, general surgery, oncology, and bariatric surgery, making it a preferred choice for complex cases requiring high accuracy.
Cost of Robotic Surgery in India
The cost of robotic surgery in India varies depending on multiple factors, including the type of procedure, hospital, and surgeon’s expertise. On average, the cost ranges between:
₹1.5 lakh – ₹5 lakh for simple robotic-assisted surgeries (e.g., gallbladder removal, hernia repair).
₹5 lakh – ₹12 lakh for more complex robotic surgeries (e.g., prostate cancer surgery, bariatric surgery, hysterectomy).
₹10 lakh – ₹20 lakh for highly advanced procedures like robotic heart surgery or organ transplantation.
Factors Affecting the Cost of Robotic Surgery
1. Type of Procedure
Different surgeries require different levels of complexity. For instance, a robotic hernia repair costs much less than a robotic prostatectomy or robotic bariatric surgery.
2. Hospital and Facility Charges
Premium hospitals like Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Apollo, Medanta, and AIIMS Delhi offer advanced robotic surgery facilities. The best robotic surgeon in Delhi often operates at top-tier hospitals with cutting-edge technology, which can increase costs.

Microneedling Treatment : A Non-Surgical Alternative for Skin Rejuvenation
In order to achieve a youthful appearance, many individuals consider cosmetic procedures, including surgery. Everyone, however, may not be a good candidate for surgery. A facelift, eyelid surgery, or other corrective procedure requires consideration of a number of factors. There is no need for anesthesia, long recovery times, or significant risks with microneedling treatment for those who are looking to improve their appearance without the use of anesthesia or long recovery periods.
By stimulating the skin’s natural healing process, microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure. It promotes collagen and elastin production by creating tiny punctures in the skin with fine needles, two proteins that keep skin youthful, smooth, and firm. Boosting collagen gives the skin a rejuvenated appearance, making it look healthier and younger. Unlike surgeries, which typically require longer recovery times, microneedling usually involves little downtime, with many people returning to their daily routine almost immediately.
Tumblr media
What is Microneedling?
Dermatologists perform microneedling with a device that uses tiny, fine needles. Using these needles, controlled micro-injuries are created on the skin. By activating the body’s healing response, collagen and elastin are produced more readily. With time, this results in smoother, firmer skin with fewer wrinkles and scars. In addition to facial treatments, microneedling can treat a range of skin concerns on the body, such as stretch marks, acne scars, and enlarged pores.
In recent years, microneedling has gained popularity in Hollywood, where many celebrities use it to maintain a youthful glow. Jennifer Aniston, among others, has endorsed the procedure, crediting it with enhancing the absorption of her serums. By enhancing the performance of other skincare treatments, the treatment is not only effective for skin rejuvenation but also enhances the effectiveness of skin rejuvenation overall.
The Benefits of Microneedling
The benefits of microneedling make it an appealing non-surgical skin rejuvenation procedure:
Reduces Fine Lines and Wrinkles: In addition to reducing fine lines and wrinkles, collagen and elastin production is stimulated, resulting in smoother skin.
Improves Skin Texture: A microneedling procedure can improve overall skin texture by promoting cell turnover and collagen production.
Treats Acne Scars and Stretch Marks: In addition to treating post-acne scarring and stretch marks, microneedling encourages the regeneration of new, healthy skin cells.
Minimizes Pores: By regularly microneedling, enlarged pores can be reduced, leaving the skin looking clearer and more even-toned.
Quick Recovery: Recovery time for microneedling is much shorter than for more invasive surgical procedures. It is common for people to experience mild redness and irritation for a few days after the procedure, but they will be able to resume normal activities after that.
Microneedling vs. Surgical Procedures
In addition to surgery, microneedling offers a less invasive alternative for individuals seeking more dramatic results without the risks and lengthy recovery times associated with traditional surgeries. The procedure involves no incisions and little discomfort, unlike facelifts, which require general anesthesia, cuts, and stitches. People with busy schedules can easily take advantage of this procedure since it is relatively quick and requires little downtime.
In addition to its benefits over surgery, microneedling is also much less expensive. In contrast, microneedling usually costs between $200 and $900 per session, based on the area being treated as well as the severity of the skin condition. A facelift can easily cost tens of thousands of dollars, whereas microneedling is typically not covered by health insurance plans. Microneedling provides an affordable solution for individuals seeking to rejuvenate their skin. As a cosmetic procedure, microneedling is not covered by insurance.
Tumblr media
Pricing and Financing Options
The cost of any cosmetic treatment is an important factor to consider. Microneedling prices can vary significantly depending on the treatment area, the practitioner’s experience, and the condition of your skin. In general, the cost of a session ranges from $200 to $900. It may be necessary to undergo a series of treatments to achieve optimal results, however.
Generally, microneedling is not covered by health insurance since it is considered an elective procedure. In some clinics, financing options are available to help make the procedure more affordable. Microneedling payment plans can be customized to fit your budget and lifestyle, ensuring that you will enjoy the benefits without feeling financially burdened.
Who is a Good Candidate for Microneedling?
Almost anyone looking to improve the appearance of their skin can benefit from microneedling. There is, however, a possibility that it is not right for everyone. Some skin conditions, such as active acne, skin infections, or rosacea, should avoid microneedling, since the procedure may worsen them. Additionally, a licensed dermatologist or skincare professional should be consulted before undergoing the treatment to ensure that it is appropriate for your skin type.
Celebrities and Microneedling
Microneedling is gaining popularity in Hollywood as a way to maintain youthful skin. A number of celebrities have publicly shared their love for the procedure, including Jennifer Aniston, Kim Kardashian, and Bella Hadid. For example, Aniston uses microneedling to enhance the effectiveness of her serums and skincare products. It is for this reason that microneedling has become so popular among those seeking a youthful and glowing appearance.
Conclusion
Microneedling is a non-surgical option for improving the appearance of your skin. In addition to smoother skin, reduced wrinkles, and improved texture, it doesn’t require surgery, anesthesia, or a lengthy recovery period. There is no guarantee that microneedling will be cheaper than a facelift or other invasive procedure, but in general it is more affordable that those. If you’d like to achieve the youthful, glowing skin you’ve always wanted, microneedling is now part of your skincare routine with flexible financing options available.

best shampoo for frizzy color treated hair—Top Tips
Tumblr media
Do Things Differently and find out what works best for you It is crucial to do some experimentation with your routine. Try to do things differently if one method doesn't work in stopping your frizzy hair.  If you shower during the morning try showering at night. Doing this will not keep your hair dry during the day After you get out of the shower, try applying a little more product to your frizzy locks than you normally do. Sample a variety of conditioners and anti-frizz styling products to see which items your hair best responds to. As you get on the shower, get more of the product on your frizzy locks than usual. Try a variety of conditioners as well as anti-frizz styling products. Try experimenting with which brand is best suited for your hair when you apply an anti-frizz product on your hair. Wrap your hair with a cloth. Put this cloth on your head even as you sleep. Come morning, you can unwrap your hair and find that it is smoother and silkier.  Moisturize  Moisture is essential for your frizzy hair. If you fail to give it hydration, your frizzy hair will get moisture from other sources such as the humidity present in the air. If this happens, you will not like the results. A hair mask is also crucial to be used at least once a week. A lot of hair masks have nourishing properties and revitalize and strengthen hair. Relaxers Help Smooth Your Frizzy Hair You may think of a permanent hair relaxing treatment if you are the type who can't live without a flat iron and need to use it every time. Smootheners that have shorter use are another option and can last up to six months. These smootheners are versatile and have a variety of options. They can be used to make sleek straight hair or smoothen hair for natural movement to be enhanced. They can also be used to create smooth curls that have lots of shine. If you do not want to use these treatments for your frizzy hair, keep your hair in top condition by using other products such as nourishing masks, hot oils, and moisturizers. Hydrating With the best Products Can Help repair Frizzy Hair  What you put on your hair creates a lot of impact. If you want smoother hair, moisturization is essential, and you will need best shampoo for frizzy color-treated hair as well as a conditioner for optimum results. It is crucial to purchase salon grade products. Typical products found in drugstores or supermarkets have high alcohol content and will only dry out your frizzy hair.  Select the best shampoo for your frizzy hair and avoid over washing You may find that there is product buildup on your hair.  The first crucial step is to remove it with a shampoo that has clarifying properties. Get a haircut if the buildup is really severe. However, if the buildup isn't an issue, gentle shampoo with organic ingredients or oils is something you should consider using.  However, avoid shampooing too often.  Shampoo removes the natural oils in hair. The natural oils help stop frizz, so their presence in your hair is crucial. Instead, it is ideal to shampoo only two to three times a week. In between washings, you can always use a dry shampoo or even baby powder to tame the oil in your hair. During your wash days, you can also skip the best shampoo for frizzy color-treated hair and just use a conditioner. These are absorbed into the hair, and ingredients with protein will manage frizz better and create smoothness. Synthetic moisturizers may end up as build up on the hair and make it dirty.  When you apply conditioners, try two types of conditioners that are rinse out and leave in.
Tumblr media
When you use rinse out conditioners, use them every time you shampoo. After 2 to 5 minutes, wash them out. When you are using leave and conditioners, just use a tiny amount and follow instructions when applying Nourishing conditioners can also be used if you need to touch up frizzy hair anytime during the day. Water down your conditioner, and with both hands, put it on the edges of your hair. Doing this method can leave you with smoother and shinier locks that can last all day.
Best shampoo for frizzy color-treated hair--Top Hacks for Frizzy Colored Hair
Shampoo Less Natural oils are stripped away from your hair when you color treat it. You will eventually have to trim off the dry and frizzy ends that will form. When you over shampoo, it will continue to dry out your hair even more. To keep your hair in tip-top shape, wash your hair with conditioner on days when you do not use shampoo. Also, use a cleansing conditioner that gently washes your hair and conditions it. These products do not strip away the natural oils.  Your new hair color will also be preserved when you cut back on shampoo. Hair Masks When you step out of the shower, and your color-treated hair dries quickly, it only means that a lot of damage has been done. It is crucial to saving your hair, and hair masks reduce the frizzy appearance. Use hair masks every other day. They are affordable and can be made out of household ingredients. You can even apply an avocado hair mask, which can be made by mixing a couple of tablespoons of avocado honey and coconut oil. You can also use a honey infusion mask by mixing parts of honey and olive oil. Apply this mixture on your hair and scalp. Wrap your head with plastic and leave on the hair mask for 20 to 30 minutes. Remove the plastic wrapping and rinse your hair out with warm water. Apply a conditioner on your hair and rinse again.  Leave-In Conditioner  For daytime, a quick fix is a leave-in conditioner. Apply this product to your hair after showering and leave it on for all-day moisturization to tame your frizz. This method is great for stopping static hair and gives protection to color-treated hair, especially when using a blow dryer or other hot devices. Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner A lot of people absolutely need to wash their hair every day. There are products that offer smoothening and softening effects. Products that particularly contain argan oil are good for everyday use. It also protects damaged hair. You should be warned however, that they will be pricey compared to your normal shampoos and conditioners. The higher price point is worth it when you are faced with color treatments that tattered your hair Oil Treatments  Oil treatments can be bought from the drugstores however, you can also do some magic using homemade ingredients from the kitchen. Olive oil and coconut oil are two ingredients for infusing dry and brittle hair with moisture. You can use these oils for deep treatments. Massage them into your scalp and work them thoroughly into your hair.  Wrap your hair with a towel for plastic.  You can also leave it free to dry.  Allow the oils to settle and steep onto your hair for three hours or sleep with it. Once done, rinse it out with warm water and apply a conditioner. This method will smoothen and soften your hair.  Hot Oils Hot oil treatment penetrates into your hair shaft effectively. The process involves warming up oil and applying it to your hair and covering it.  There are many brands of hot oil on the market these days. Avoid Swimming  If you love swimming, you may have to avoid the waters for some time. Keep your hair away from chlorinated treated water. This chemical dries out your hair even more, and if you dyed your hair blonde, you might end up with green hair since chemicals react with the dye. If you must absolutely soak into the pool, apply a heavy leave-in conditioner before you get into the pool. If you are blonde, put a swimming cap over your head for optimum protection from the waters. After you're finished swimming, rinse your hair well and make sure that the chlorine is washed off. Apply conditioner and rinse it off.

I went to the beach for the first time this year and wore a Speedo on the beach. Last year, I wore a Speedo on the beach three times and it was the first time I had worn a Speedo in public. Last year, I only wore my Speedo in secluded parts of the beach or on days when the beach was almost empty.
Tumblr media
Today, there wasn't really any secluded space on the beach, but while I was looking for a spot with fewer people, I saw another guy on the beach in a Speedo for the first time. I wore short trunks rolled up and was shirtless while looking for a spot. I picked a spot a little ways from him and wasn't sure if I'd take off my trunks because of the number of people around, but since this other guy was already in a Speedo and no one was bothering him, I went for it. Almost as soon as I took off my trunks, two girls came by and set up their spot between me and the other Speedo guy. I guess they intentionally picked a spot between the two guys in Speedos. I was a little nervous at first because of how many people were around, but I got comfortable in no time, I even stopped looking around for others' reactions to me and truly relaxed in my Speedo for the first time. I didn't even notice when the other Speedo guy left leaving me as the only guy in a Speedo in view. Because of this, I don't know how people reacted to me or how many people walked by and saw me. When it was time to leave, I put my trunks back on and stayed shirtless to my car.
Tumblr media
On the way back to my car, as I walked through the more crowded part of the beach, I saw a second guy in a Speedo in the middle of everyone. After reading on this subreddit how most guys that post about wearing Speedos on the beach are always the only ones on the beach in a Speedo, I didn't expect to see a second guy in a Speedo, definitely not in such a crowded area of the beach.
Maybe next time, I'll get to the beach early before it starts to fill up and wear a Speedo in a spot I know people will fill up around me. I don't think I have the confidence to strip to a Speedo on a crowded beach yet, but I think I'll push myself and try it next time I'm on the beach. I'd like to get to the point where I can proudly walk down a crowded beach in only a Speedo. Maybe I'll get there this year; I've already built up more Speedo confidence faster than I thought I would.
Are Speedos making a come back or is it just random chance all three of us were at the same beach at the same time? Hopefully it's the first but we need your help. If we want Speedos to make a come back we have to be the start of the movement and start wearing them in more public places like the beach so more guys see us and are inspired to wear Speedos themselves. I wore a Speedo in the middle of the beach today because I saw another guy in one and might wear one on a more crowded beach next time because I saw a guy wear one in the crowded beach.
If you are confidence in a Speedo at the pool wear one on the beach too to inspire other guys to try it. If you are worried about being the only one on the beach in a Speedo wear it anyway and you might just inspire another guy with a Speedo under his trunks to join you like I was.
I saw a lot more guys in short swim trunks this year then last. The treads for guys beachwear is to show more skin so don't let the tread slow down and stop at shorter trunks. The short trunks guys probably think they are being super confident and provocative but when every guy is wearing short trunks you have to do more to stand out and Speedos are the answer.
If you've never wore a Speedo on the beach you'll be surprised how little the different in feeling of wearing Speedos or short swim trunks are. By the time you get your trunks put away in your bag you might not even feel any difference and wonder what the big deal with Speedos in your mind was. Wear your Speedos proudly and standout today so that they can become normalize for everyone soon.

Is intermittent fasting effective in weight loss?
Tumblr media
Intermittent fasting (IF) has been studied as a potential approach to weight loss, and research suggests that it can be effective for some people. Intermittent fasting involves cycling between periods of eating and fasting, to promote various metabolic and health benefits.
The 16/8 method (16 hours of fasting and an 8-hour eating window), the 5:2 method (eating normally for five days and drastically reducing calorie intake on two non-consecutive days), and the eat-stop-eat method (24-hour fasting once or twice a week) are some common variations of intermittent fasting.
Here are some ways in which intermittent fasting may contribute to weight loss:
Calorie Restriction: Intermittent fasting often leads to a reduction in overall calorie intake because there is a limited time frame for eating. When people have a shorter window to eat, they may naturally consume fewer calories.
Improved Insulin Sensitivity: Intermittent fasting may improve insulin sensitivity, which can help regulate blood sugar levels and reduce the risk of insulin resistance. This can contribute to better weight management.
Increased Fat Burning: During the fasting period, the body may shift to burning stored fat for energy, which can contribute to fat loss.
Hormonal Changes: IF can lead to changes in hormone levels, such as increased levels of norepinephrine and human growth hormone, which play roles in metabolism and fat burning.
Preservation of Lean Muscle Mass: Some research suggests that intermittent fasting may help preserve lean muscle mass during weight loss, as the body tends to prioritize fat stores for energy rather than breaking down muscle tissue.
Appetite Regulation: Intermittent fasting may impact appetite-regulating hormones, such as ghrelin and leptin. Some individuals report reduced feelings of hunger, which can make it easier to adhere to a calorie-restricted diet.
Metabolic Rate: While short-term intermittent fasting may not significantly impact metabolic rate, some studies suggest that it could have a positive effect on metabolic health over the long term, potentially contributing to weight maintenance.
Simplicity and Convenience: For some people, the simplicity of having defined eating and fasting periods can make it easier to adhere to a diet plan. It eliminates the need for constant meal planning and can be more convenient for those with busy schedules.
Potential Health Benefits: Intermittent fasting has been associated with various health benefits beyond weight loss, including improved cardiovascular health, better blood sugar control, and enhanced cellular repair processes.
Behavioral Changes: Intermittent fasting may lead to changes in eating patterns and behaviors, such as increased mindfulness about food choices and reduced emotional eating. This can contribute to a more sustainable and healthier approach to weight management.
Individual Variation: It's important to recognize that individual responses to intermittent fasting vary. Some people may find it suits their lifestyle and preferences, while others may not enjoy the fasting periods or may experience negative effects.
Potential Challenges: Intermittent fasting may not be suitable for everyone, and some individuals may struggle with adherence, experience irritability, or have difficulty concentrating during fasting periods. It's crucial to listen to one's body and adjust the approach accordingly.
Cognitive Benefits: Some proponents of intermittent fasting suggest that it may have cognitive benefits, including improved focus and mental clarity. However, more research is needed to fully understand the relationship between fasting and cognitive function.
Adherence and Sustainability: Intermittent fasting may be more sustainable for some individuals compared to other restrictive diets. The flexibility of choosing when to eat can make it easier for people to adhere to the plan in the long term.
Influence on Eating Patterns: Intermittent fasting can lead to changes in eating patterns, such as a focus on nutrient-dense meals during the eating window. This shift in food choices may contribute to weight loss and overall health improvements.
Potential for Emotional Well-being: Some individuals report positive effects on mood and emotional well-being during intermittent fasting. However, it's essential to note that fasting might not have the same impact on everyone, and individual experiences can vary.
Social Considerations: Intermittent fasting may have social implications, as meal timing can affect social activities and gatherings centered around food. It's important to consider how fasting aligns with one's lifestyle and social commitments.
Long-Term Effects: While intermittent fasting has been studied for its short-term effects on weight loss and metabolic health, more research is needed to understand its long-term impact on weight maintenance and overall well-being.
Combination with Other Diets: Some individuals may combine intermittent fasting with other dietary approaches, such as low-carbohydrate or ketogenic diets, for enhanced weight loss effects. It's crucial to approach such combinations with caution and consider individual health needs.
Health Conditions: Intermittent fasting may not be suitable for individuals with certain health conditions, such as eating disorders, diabetes, or other metabolic disorders. Consulting with a healthcare professional is essential for those with pre-existing medical conditions.
Role of Hydration: Staying adequately hydrated is crucial during fasting periods. Water intake can help manage hunger, support overall health, and prevent dehydration.
Individual Tolerance: Some people may find intermittent fasting more tolerable than others. It's important to listen to one's body and adjust the fasting approach based on individual tolerance, energy levels, and overall well-being.
It's important to note that while intermittent fasting can be effective for some individuals, it may not be suitable for everyone. Individual responses to fasting can vary, and factors such as age, sex, medical conditions, and lifestyle can influence its effectiveness and safety.
It's best to speak with a medical expert or a certified dietitian before beginning any fasting program to be sure it fits your needs and objectives. An effective weight loss method also emphasizes the importance of consistent physical exercise, sustained lifestyle modifications, and attention to overall nutritional quality.
In summary, intermittent fasting can be a viable approach for some individuals seeking weight loss, but its effectiveness varies among people. It's essential to approach intermittent fasting with a balanced perspective, considering individual needs, preferences, and health status. As with any dietary or lifestyle change, consulting with a healthcare professional or a registered dietitian is recommended to ensure it aligns with one's specific circumstances.

Is Intermittent Fasting Sustainable?
Tumblr media
If you’re interested in cutting your calorie intake and losing weight, intermittent fasting is something you’ll have come across in your research. Used by celebrities like Hugh Jackman to achieve a lean figure, there is a lot of hype around the intermittent fasting lifestyle. For some, intermittent fasting sounds extreme, which leads us to an important question:
Is intermittent fasting sustainable for weight loss?
What Is Intermittent Fasting?
Intermittent fasting is an eating pattern where you cycle between periods of eating and fasting. Intermittent fasting is not a diet; instead it’s a dietary pattern, meaning it does not dictate which food should be eaten — but when food should be eaten. Intermittent fasting is currently very popular among the health and fitness community because it essentially allows you more freedom in your diet, stopping you consuming excess calories because your window for eating is so limited.
There are several different intermittent fasting methods:
The 16/8 method: Fasting for 16 hours per day and eating during the 8-hour eating window (e.g. skipping breakfast, eating your first meal at noon and your last meal before 8 pm)
The 5:2 diet: Eating as normal for five days of the week then eating 500–600 calories on two days of the week
Eat-stop-eat: The practice of a 24-hour fast once or twice per week (avoiding eating after dinner one day until dinner the following day)
The most popular method of intermittent fasting is the 16/8 method. Working individuals who struggle to find extra time in the morning may find this method convenient. It is also convenient for those who exercise in the evening and tend not to require as much energy in the morning.
Is Intermittent Fasting Necessary for Weight Loss?
The short answer is no — you don’t need to commit to intermittent fasting if you want to see success in your weight loss program. So why do people even consider intermittent fasting in the first place? Well, as your eating window is restricted, this will naturally result in you eating less food (unless you binge on huge amounts of food), which can technically result in weight loss.
In its most basic form, weight loss works through a caloric deficit.
Your body is in a constant state of energy consumption. The energy your body needs is obtained through calories, which are present in all food. Your body is always using the fuel you put into it (food) to operate — you need energy for everything from movement and breathing to thinking and digesting. Everyone has a base caloric requirement to survive that varies depending on age, gender, weight, height, metabolism and several other biological factors. The amount of energy you need is also increased with exercise, as the body then needs more fuel to function. This is why exercise is such an important part of weight loss. It doesn’t burn away fat itself, but it means your body needs more energy to perform its basic biological functions.
This is also why a great and sustainable diet is so important for losing weight alongside exercise — which leads us back to the idea of intermittent fasting.
If you eat fewer calories than your body needs to operate, you will use the energy stored within your body fat. If you ingest more calories than your body needs, it will save those calories to support survival during leaner times. So the essential formula for weight loss is this:
Less food eaten = decreased calorie intake = weight loss.
And so, people commit to intermittent fasting diets. The core idea behind intermittent fasting is if you are eating over a shorter period, you are eating less food. If you are eating less food, you are eating fewer calories, which creates the environment required for fat loss. Some people even suggest that intermittent fasting is superior to other forms of caloric restriction, but research does not support this.
Trepanowski et al. (2017) found intermittent fasting is not superior to daily calorie restriction with regards to adherence, weight loss, weight maintenance, or improvement in risk indicators for cardiovascular disease. Another small-scale study found that traditional calorie-restrictive dieting plans were more effective for weight loss than intermittent fasting. So, everyone carrying out intermittent fasting is wrong?
When Intermittent Fasting Works
The short answer is again no.
Every side of the argument has a study to back up their claim. While we can tell you about lots of research that shows intermittent fasting doesn’t work as well as other methods, another nutritionist and personal trainer who supports the technique of intermittent fasting will probably quote you a totally different study on why it does work.
Intermittent fasting can work when it works for your lifestyle.
Some people don’t eat breakfast. If you simply cannot stomach food in the morning or if you can’t make time for breakfast, then intermittent fasting can become a sustainable food intake pattern.
David Higgins, trainer to stars like Margot Robbie and Claudia Schiffer, is one such advocate of sustainable intermittent fasting. He tells people that the 16/8 method is a good strategy for losing weight, but only if it works as part of your lifestyle.
This idea is supported by Harris et al. (2018), who note that if you aren’t making any changes to your current eating habits, then intermittent fasting can be a sustainable weight loss tool. The study found intermittent fasting may be an effective strategy for the treatment of overweight and obesity and is more effective than no treatment. Furthermore, Patterson & Sears (2017) found that an intermittent fasting regimen may be a promising approach to losing weight for people who can safely tolerate intervals of not eating, or eating very little, for certain hours of the day, night, or days of the week.
The key point here? It’s all down to the individual involved.
Sustainable Intermittent Fasting: Why It’s Not Always Possible
Healthy and sustainable weight loss is driven by dietary plans that work for an individual. If you dislike the way you are eating, then you won’t stick with it. Willpower supports quick results, but it doesn’t keep you healthy long term. The only way intermittent fasting can be sustainable, just like with any other weight loss strategy, is if you can make it part of a lifestyle that makes you happy.
If by conducting intermittent fasting, you are feeling hungry in the morning and lethargic until you eat lunch, it’s not for you. You cannot reasonably expect to maintain a sustainable weight loss program through intermittent fasting if you hate it. This is why studies show other diets work better for some people, but then sometimes intermittent fasting works for another group. It’s because it can work for you, but sometimes it won’t.
Intermittent fasting is not a magic bullet for weight loss. There is no true magic bullet that will guarantee you the best results. We’re all different, which means if you want to lose weight, you have to find a way of doing it that works with your life. You may try intermittent fasting and love it. Intermittent fasting may be unbearable for you.
Both reactions are absolutely fine.
When you want to lose weight, it’s about finding your happy medium. Your perfect balance. Sustainable intermittent fasting is a good state of mind, where you don’t have to work to achieve it. It’s not a battle to overcome adversity.
You might say that weight loss is all about willpower and commitment; dedication and pushing through. We’ve all been taught to think this, but it’s not the truth. All the happy and healthy people in your life. The thin friends you always envy. Are they constantly battling to keep their weight down? No. Are they just lucky to have faster metabolisms than you? No.
It’s their lifestyle that results in their good health. You can find a lifestyle that does the same.
Intermittent fasting may be part of that, but it might not be.
The Cons of Intermittent Fasting
Don’t get us wrong, if intermittent fasting works for you, then use it. Finding a lifestyle that supports sustainable health is probably the biggest challenge you’ll face on your road to weight loss. There is a lot of trial and error. Whatever works, use it to your advantage. However, we’re all about honest and genuine advice at The Sports Dietitian, so we want to make sure you are equipped with all the necessary tools to secure a brighter future for yourself. With that in mind, here are some critical things to know about intermittent fasting:
Reduction in Metabolism
This news is going to set off alarm bells. For those unsure of how metabolism impacts weight loss, metabolic rate is the speed at which you turn calories into energy for your body — the higher your metabolic rate, the more calories you need to sustain your current weight. So, if you have a high metabolic rate, weight loss is easier. A reduction in metabolism is the last thing anyone trying to lose weight wants.
The longer we are in a fasted state thanks to intermittent fasting, the longer we experience something called catabolism, which is the breaking down of muscle tissue to provide the protein we need for basic bodily function. This state is strongly related to reducing our metabolism. Small, frequent protein feedings of 20–30g five times a day are superior for maximising protein synthesis, compared to consuming protein in larger doses, less frequently as you would with intermittent fasting — Burke et al. 2010.
Protein synthesis is a key ingredient to enable us to maintain our muscle mass when adhering to a calorie deficit to achieve weight loss. There is a direct correlation between muscle mass, metabolically active tissue and metabolism. The more muscle mass we have, the higher our metabolism. Put simply, the more muscle mass we can retain, the more calories we can eat before gaining body fat.
And let’s face it — who doesn’t want to eat more when they can?
Therefore, when we fast, we reduce the effectiveness of protein synthesis, which negatively affects the amount of muscle mass we can retain during a calorie deficit (eating fewer calories than we are burning off). This, in turn, can reduce our metabolism and make achieving sustainable weight loss more difficult.
Hunger
If your body is not adapted to life without food — either through skipping breakfast, lower-calorie days, or two days fasting a week — you’ll experience hunger. Hunger is a massive demotivator. The sudden drop in glucose levels that comes from a lack of food impacts our state of mind, our energy levels and can leave us feeling frustrated. It’s tough to stick to a diet plan when you’re hungry, which means you’ll probably relapse into old behaviours.
Why do we eat? We eat for enjoyment, health, and cultural benefits. We eat to survive; we eat to perform physically and mentally. When fasted and hungry, our reaction time, problem-solving abilities and ability to keep our cool during stressful situations greatly reduces. So, if you want to be at your best during the morning, and breakfast is a part of that, make sure you eat instead of suffering through needlessly.
Poor Training Results
If you’re a morning exerciser, then intermittent fasting is unlikely to be sustainable. You need the energy to train. Energy comes from food. Training fasted without efficient fuel for energy will be a thorn in your side. There is a world of evidence supporting the importance of carbohydrate pre-exercise to maximise performance (Burke, 2017). No food in your system, no energy in your muscles, poor performance in the gym.
Bad Breath
A final one to think about, intermittent fasting can lead to reduced salivary flow, which is linked with bad breath. If you’re struggling with confidence and self-esteem in public due to your weight, bad breath is the last thing you need.
Sustainable Intermittent Fasting: Key Takeaways
Intermittent fasting is not necessary for weight loss and does have a lot of downsides. There are positives of intermittent fasting and it can help you — but only if it’s sustainable intermittent fasting that works with your current way of life. Don’t even try intermittent fasting if you love breakfast or get hungry between meals. It’s not going to work. It’s not sustainable.
If you love to eat, there is an easier way.
Eating a well-balanced diet, with the correct macronutrient structure will minimise hunger, maximise food palatability and eliminate the feeling you are on a diet. Really, diet is a nasty word we want to avoid. You don’t ever want to be on a diet — you just want to be eating well.
The key to sustainable weight loss results is discovering a convenient eating structure with regular accountability, motivation and behaviour change support that works for you. And let’s face it — if we are making an effort to adapt our current eating habits, the results we obtain had better be sustainable.

Laparoscopic surgery, commonly referred to as minimally invasive surgery, has a number of benefits over open surgery. Here are several major advantages:
Smaller Incisions: Unlike open surgery, which requires larger incisions, laparoscopic surgery in jabalpur only requires small incisions (often between 0.5 and 1.5 centimetres). As a result, there are less scars and a more a more cosmetically appealing outcome.
Reduced Postoperative Pain: Smaller incisions and less tissue trauma typically lead to less postoperative pain. Patients often require less pain medication and experience a quicker return to normal activities.
Minimized Blood Loss: Laparoscopic techniques use specialized instruments and cauterization, which help minimize blood loss during surgery. This reduces the need for blood transfusions and decreases the risk of complications associated with excessive bleeding.
Shorter Hospital Stays: Laparoscopic procedures often require shorter hospital stays compared to open surgery. Patients may be discharged on the same day or within a few days, leading to cost savings and quicker recovery in the comfort of their own homes.
Faster Recovery: With smaller incisions and less tissue trauma, laparoscopic hernia surgery in jabalpur generally allows for faster recovery times. Patients can return to work, daily activities, and regular exercise routines sooner than with open surgery.
Improved Visualization: Laparoscopic procedures utilize a laparoscope, a thin tube with a camera, and a light source, which provides magnified and high-definition images of the surgical area. This enhanced visualization allows laparoscopic surgeon in jabalpur to perform precise and accurate maneuvers.
Reduced Risk of Infection: Smaller incisions and less exposure to internal organs reduce the risk of infection. Additionally, hernia surgery in jabalpur procedures involve fewer complications related to wound healing.
Decreased Adhesion Formation: Laparoscopic surgery reduces the formation of adhesions, which are abnormal bands of scar tissue that can cause pain and restrict organ movement. This is particularly advantageous for procedures involving delicate organs like the intestines.
Overall, gallbladder surgery in jabalpur offers numerous advantages, including less scarring, reduced pain, minimized blood loss, shorter hospital stays, faster recovery, improved visualization, decreased infection risk, and decreased adhesion formation. However, it is important to consult with the best laparoscopic surgeon in jabalpur to determine the most appropriate surgical approach for your specific condition.

Pregnancy Late Stage Guide: 8 Key Considerations
This article will focus on false contractions in late pregnancy, diet, signs of preterm labor, cord winding, premature rupture of membranes, labor analgesia, signs of labor, and the role of the father-to-be, as well as provide practical knowledge and advice for pregnant mothers in conjunction with the maternity clothing brand "Gomamee".
Tumblr media
1.What Is Pseudo Contraction?
As the fetal head gradually descends and stimulates the lower part of the uterus, this pulling stimulus will prompt the uterus to contract, and this contraction is what we often call "pseudo-contraction".
When a pseudo-contraction occurs, the mother will have a feeling of falling abdomen and inability to straighten her back, but it lasts for a short time, is not regular, does not have a cycle, does not feel pain, does not dilate the cervical opening, and is not a sign of labor.
True contractions, on the other hand, last longer and longer, and the level of pain gradually increases as labor progresses, and the interval between contractions becomes shorter and shorter.
However, for mothers who are not yet full-term (less than 37 weeks), if they have frequent false contractions with abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding, they should seek medical attention as soon as possible to prevent preterm labor.
Full-term mothers should not be too nervous about pseudocontractions, and should take care to relax their bodies, adopt a left-sided position and rest in bed for a while.
The difference between the two should be remembered by pregnant mothers, so that you may make fewer trips to the hospital.
2.What Are The Considerations For Dieting In Late Pregnancy?
As the due date approaches, some pregnant mothers will eat and drink a lot during the late pregnancy in order to give birth to a "fat doll", which is not advisable. Compared to mid-pregnancy, a pregnant mother's daily energy requirement only increases by 200 kcal, which corresponds to about 100 grams of lean meat or 3 boiled eggs or 400 ml of milk. The weight gain in late pregnancy should be limited to 0.5 kg per week. Pregnant mothers can determine if they have eaten too much by measuring their weight gain. Excessive nutrition and weight gain will increase the risk of having a "huge baby", which will not only be detrimental to a normal delivery, but will also affect your postpartum recovery.
The daily intake of protein in late pregnancy should be increased by 30 grams compared to pre-pregnancy, and should reach about 85 grams per day; eggs, lean meat, and soy products can provide high quality protein. For those who are fat, need to control weight and avoid excess nutrition, protein intake can be more through plant food intake, appropriate choice of high protein, low fat fish or poultry meat is also possible. The intake of calcium is 1000 mg per day; milk and milk products, shrimp, beans and soy products, sesame and other foods are rich in calcium; the intake of iron is 29 mg per day; animal offal, animal blood, red meat, purple cabbage, fungus and other foods are rich in iron. Pregnant mothers in late pregnancy should develop the diet of eating less and more meals, and eat less raw, cold, greasy and hard-to-digest food. It is important to avoid unclean diet.
3.What Are The Signs Of Preterm Labor?
If regular abdominal pain occurs at 28 weeks of pregnancy or less than 37 weeks, and its frequency increases gradually to 10 times a day or more, and it is difficult to be relieved even if you change your posture or lie down to rest, it indicates the possibility of preterm labor. Besides, seeing red is also a reliable sign that labor is about to happen, and it often appears 24-48 hours before labor.
For preterm labor, pregnant mothers should have regular maternity checkups and abstain from sex during late pregnancy to avoid premature rupture of fetal membranes; early detection and early hospitalization.
4.Is It Dangerous To Have The Umbilical Cord Wrapped Around The Neck?
If the umbilical cord is too long, the baby is too small, too much amniotic fluid or frequent fetal movement, the umbilical cord may wrap around the baby's neck, limbs or torso. The effect of the cord on the baby depends on the tightness of the cord, the number of weeks and the length of the cord.
One week is the most common, and the cord may take longer to deliver. If the cord is wrapped too tightly or with too many turns, the baby's blood circulation may be blocked and he may even suffocate due to lack of oxygen. In fact, if there is no evidence of oxygen deprivation in the baby, the mother should not be too nervous. Do count fetal movements, have regular maternity checkups and fetal heart monitoring so that a professional doctor can assess whether the fetus has intrauterine hypoxia.
If the baby's general condition in the uterus has been very good, and the umbilical cord has not been wrapped around the neck for 3 turns or more before delivery, or the umbilical cord has not been wrapped around the neck combined with the umbilical cord around the limb, the pregnant mother can safely give birth to the baby.
5.What Should I Do If The Membranes Break Early?
Under normal circumstances, the water will break only when the uterus is almost fully opened, but 10% of pregnant mothers who are full term will have their water break before delivery. That is, premature rupture of membranes, and 2%-3.5% of pregnant mothers will have premature rupture of membranes before full term. In premature rupture of membranes, there will be a sudden flow of clear yellowish fluid from the vagina, which may be mixed with meconium or fetal fat.
If the water breaks, the umbilical cord may slide into the vagina with the amniotic fluid if the mother continues to sit or stand after the water breaks, and the umbilical cord may prolapse. Therefore, after the water breaks, pregnant mothers must pay attention to: one is to immediately lie flat and raise the buttocks; two is to immediately seek medical attention at the hospital!
Tumblr media
6.What Is Labor Analgesia?
Labor analgesia refers to the use of various methods to reduce pain during vaginal delivery. The current analgesic methods are broadly divided into non-pharmacological analgesia, pharmacological analgesia and anesthesia analgesia.
Non-pharmacological analgesia mainly refers to psychoprophylaxis, including prenatal education and guidance during labor; pharmacological analgesia includes intramuscular or intravenous injection of painkillers, which is effective, but the drugs can easily pass through the placenta and may inhibit the baby's breathing; at present, intraspinal anesthesia is the most common method of labor analgesia in clinical practice, which can significantly reduce pain by injecting anesthetics into the spinal canal of the mother through the lumbar spinal space, and at the same time ensure that the mother is awake and the baby is not affected. It can significantly reduce pain and ensure that the mother is awake and the baby will not be affected. In China, in order to avoid prolonged labor, labor analgesia usually starts when the opening of the uterus is 3 cm and stops when the uterus is fully opened.
7.What Are The Signs Of Labor?
The symptoms that indicate imminent labor are called "aura of labor", which mainly include 3 kinds of symptoms:
① Feeling of descent: as the fetal head descends, the pregnant mother will have a feeling of abdominal cramping and frequent urination, etc. Generally, the feeling of descent occurs early, so you only need to pay more attention to it, and there is no need to rush to the hospital.
②Redness: a small amount of vaginal bleeding before delivery, less than the amount of menstruation, mostly occurs 24-48 hours before delivery. There is some individual variability. You should go to the hospital for further examination after finding redness.
③ Contractions: The pregnant mother will feel a burst of tightening and hardening of the belly and a feeling of cramping. The contractions of preterm labor are usually less regular and of short duration. If the contractions become regular and gradually intensify, the pregnant mother will start to enter the labor process. You should go to the hospital as soon as possible at this time.
8.What Can The Father-To-Be Do For The Delivery?
A week before the expected date of delivery, the father-to-be should adjust to the state of preparation for labor and keep his cell phone open, waiting for the call at any time. Besides, he should prepare in advance: waiting bag, toiletries, clothes, food, ID card, birth certificate, medical insurance card, consultation card, various examination and test results of the mother during pregnancy, and design the best route to the hospital in advance. In addition, the father-to-be should be more patient and considerate, serving tea, chatting and massaging should be more active. After the birth of the newborn baby, you should first give care to the great pregnant mother and then to the baby.

Conclusion
Late pregnancy is an important stage when a pregnant woman is about to welcome her baby. During this stage, pregnant women should understand the difference between pseudo contractions and real contractions, eat properly, pay attention to the signs of preterm labor, understand the risk of cord encirclement, deal with premature rupture of membranes in time, master the method of labor analgesia, pay attention to the signs of labor, and give support and care to the expectant father during this process. Choosing the right brand of maternity clothes "Gomamee" will also help mothers-to-be to show their confidence and comfort during the late pregnancy period. With this knowledge and careful care, mothers-to-be can have a healthy and smooth late pregnancy and welcome their baby.

Flood my mornings: Ian (II)
Tumblr media
Notes from Mod Bonnie
This story takes place in an AU in which Jamie travels through the stones two years after Culloden and finds Claire and his child in 1950 Boston.
See all past installments via Bonnie’s Master List
Previous installment:  Ian (need I say more?)
“I’ll bet the nuns LOVED you.”
Jamie jumped, startled out of his stone-like state. “Nuns?” he asked of the nurse, dumbfounded....or rather asked as best he could through the great yawn that overtook him without warning the moment he opened his mouth.
The woman laughed at him, which gave him enough time to regain his composure and apologize profusely for his rudeness. “Ye caught me by surprise,” he finished lamely.
“Well, that’s what I was getting at!” she said. “The nuns at my school were INTENSE, and you had to sit up straight and stay focused, or you’d get the whap! with a ruler across the knuckles, or worse. I’ll bet you were the star pupil, though, the way you’ve been standing straight and still all this time.”
Jamie relaxed and gave her a tired grin. “I didna have any nuns in my own schooling, I’m afraid.”
“Military, then?”
“Aye, just so,” he said, impressed. “How did ye ken that?”
“You’ve just got that well-trained look about you, ya know?” Her humor softened into evident concern. “Honestly though, you should go sleep for a bit or get a bite to eat, at least.”
“Thank ye verra kindly, Nurse...Thompson,” he said, reading her name pin (and in his beleaguered state, feeling inordinately flustered over having just peered at her bosom like a lecher), “but I’ll do.”
He glanced immediately back through the glass, reassuring himself that Ian was still there. Aye, second row on the left, asleep in his tiny bonnet and swaddled in blankets. All well. Unless...was he staying too still? How long had it been since the lad had moved or kicked? How often were new weans supposed to wake up? How—
“He’s okay, don’t worry,” Nurse Thompson said, following his line of sight. “Vitals are great, and he’s sleeping like a champ.”
Jamie exhaled and smiled sheepishly down at his shoes, realizing how much of a simpleton he must seem. “I find myself overworrit at every turning, tonight.”
She gave him a knowing smile.  “First-time dad, huh?”
“Nay,” he admitted, “we’ve a daughter as well; she’s three in November.” Knowing well the implication of the question, Jamie offered, “I was away—at the war, when she was born, and a good deal of time thereafter.”
“Ahh,” she said, turning back to the glass as well, her voice soft with understanding.  “So it’s an even bigger day for you, then.”
Those minutes with Claire just after the birth, with the three of them joined in absolute peace and love as Ian nursed for the first time, had been nothing short of perfect.
There had too soon come the moment, though, when Reynolds had stepped closer to say that ‘while all seemed well, they would both need—No, Mr. Fraser, nothing specific to worry about as of yet—He’d only feel better if both Mrs. Fraser and the baby received a more thorough medical examination.’ There was the afterbirth to attend to, of course, and then mother and son would need to sleep in order to properly heal and get back their strength.
Only concern for their safety could have made Jamie pull his hands from them, but in fact, he found himself gritting his teeth in frustration at how SLOWLY everyone seemed to be moving. If there were medical problems to discover with HIS wife and HIS child, these people needed to be moving with all haste!
Lost in his angst, he was completely taken aback when Claire suddenly grabbed his sleeve and said anxiously, “Go with him?”
The nurse had just taken the babe from her arms and Claire’s eyes were wide with worry of the impending separation. “Might I?” Jamie had asked the nurse, hardly daring to hope and already dreading another confrontation with hospital security (for he’d do whatever was necessary to heed Claire’s request, Nurse Kline be damned). But to his relief, he soon learned there was a large window that opened out onto the newborn nursery where he might stand and watch over the bairn as long as he wished.
He’d scarcely moved all the while, standing there overseeing every single action involving care of his son. The boy was washed and wrapped; weighed; checked and prodded, notes made about him on papers and forms. Jamie was aware of the progresses of his heart: racing when Ian woke and cried, quieting again to see the nurses come at once to tend him, Nurse Thompson among them.
“Look.” The woman crossed her arms and gave him a very stern, unnervingly Claire-like look. “You’ve been standing here for what....six hours?”
It had been the stroke of nine o’clock when Ian was born. Glancing at his Wristwatch, he found that she wasn’t far wrong. Still, he smiled and tried to make light of the situation while still making it clear he had no intention whatsoever of budging from this spot.
“Here’s the thing, though,” she cut him off neatly, gesturing through the glass. “Your little peanut there is snoozing away. Your wife should be doing the same, and so when they wake up in a few hours, they’ll be all rested and fresh while they’re getting to know each other.” She tilted her head, a master wheedler at work. “Stop me if I’m wrong, but I would imagine those are moments you’d like to be awake for, right?”
Fair.
“And how about when your daughter arrives to meet her little brother? How much of a lovely memory will that be if you can’t keep your eyes open for it?”
He opened his mouth to reply, but then closed it and laughed a bit, rubbing a hand over his face. “Aye, you’ve maybe a point.”
“I most definitely do,” she said with authority. “Go on now, find your wife’s room and get some shut-eye.”
“I shall,” he promised, relenting at last.
“Let me or someone know if you need anything, like a blanket or pillow, okay?”
He nodded assent, then added, “My wife always says I’m stubborn as rocks, and I canna just say she’s wrong. I truly thank ye for the talking-to.”
“Not my first rodeo,” she said with a smile. “Had a new dad just last month who stood for so long and was fool enough to LOCK HIS FOOL KNEES and ended up getting admitted to the fifth floor for a concussion!”
Jamie laughed, thanked her again, made to turn, then faltered, looking back through the glass to where Ian slept.
I should stay wi’ him...I shouldna leave my son...
She was already shooing him on his way, but Nurse Thompson’s voice was earnest and solemn as she promised, “I’ll take good care of little Ian.”
And fact that the woman kent the boy’s name, among more than twenty newborns under her care—
That allowed him to make his way through the halls with his fears—for the moment, at least—at bay.
She was so lovely, in the faint light from the window. Her hair had been washed, he saw, and the fresh, soft curls framed her face.
He felt a deep, aching tenderness pulling at him in watching her sleep. She’d gone through hell and come through it in safety, she and the bairn, God be praised. This woman....she was his own heart; and thrice, now, she’d given birth and given him an entirely new heart, without any diminishment of the original. The wonder and love and miracle in that fact.....
Sleep, he reminded himself. In his haze of exhaustion, he spent a comically-long space of time looking from the bed, to the chair, and back again. He didn’t wish to wake her. Lord knew, she needed to sleep after her ordeal; but he couldn’t bear to be apart from her, either.
Silently, he removed his shoes and slipped onto the bed, curling up next to her on his side. Sleep tugged at him almost at once,  but he couldn’t resist kissing her cheek and putting his arm over her to hold her close in sleep.
“I love you, Claire.”
She didn’t wake, nor did she need to. Her love was on him all the same.

I don’t respond well to bullying (that’s a lie, i clearly do). Except when it involves Sirius and Harry. And hugs, apparently.
Have fun, @impishtubist. (hopefully)
Happy Sirius and Harry Saturday! (and it is technically Saturday for me, so...)
-----
Harry had always liked hugs. Since the day he'd been old enough to wrap his little hands around larger fingers, he'd always clung on in some way.
Sirius remembers that tiny baby, fresh from hospital, splayed in his arms, legs bunching up, kicking out a little but barely mobile yet. Sirius had stared down into those eyes James had been sure would match his own once they changed and been enamored. His godson. Harry Potter. His best friends' son. The entire world in a small body shorter than Sirius' forearm.
But when that hand had reached out so surely, tiny little fingers wrapping around one of Sirius' own, Sirius had been captured, gone. Annihilated. Everything was over after that. All that Sirius Black had ever and would ever be belonged to that small boy. And that never changed, not for one day.
There'd been no question in his mind about taking Harry when his friends died. He'd been grieving, angry, beating his fists against Remus' chest in uncontrollable rage and helplessness, Remus clutching him firmly, tears welling in his eyes as he'd watched and let Sirius do whatever he'd needed to just get through it. But Harry…he'd been a sort of grace, a breath of painful air sucked into stinging lungs sliced open with glass that had stuck and splintered. Harry had healed Sirius as much as it was possible for him to heal.
As his godson grows, Sirius watches him, counts and catalogues all the different ways he takes his affection as often as he wants it. There are running tackles, arms thrown around legs as he rides on feet with each step taken, laughter bubbling from his chest and flushing his perfect face, green eyes bright and glittering. There are the early-morning dives into beds, limbs flying, elbows in ribcages and sternums, knees digging into thighs and hips. Sneak attacks from around chairs or dark corners where only the faintest of giggles signals he's there at all.
Sirius holds onto every one of them, cherishes them. He takes them while he can, adamant for them, craving those arms around him, his own around smaller shoulders, fingers pushed into a mop of black hair so like James' it aches.
He keeps them all, and he's grateful he has, because one day, when Harry's nearly ten, he stops. At first, Sirius thinks he's done something wrong. He tries to take a hug for himself instead of waiting for Harry to initiate it as he almost always has, but the boy denies him, holds up his hands, turns his back. Sirius deflates, sags with it, feels like rubbish left to rot at the bottom of a bin.
Remus tells him it's normal, Harry's growing up, branching out, away from them and their little family they've created. He'll circle back. Sirius is forced to believe him, but he despises it, an internal flame flickering and dying away, life only breathed back into it during those rarer and rarer times when Harry pushes in for that special sort of attention that swells Sirius' heart before it's puttering in his chest again when his godson once again leaves.
The years pass and Harry gets older. They do too. He goes to school, and Sirius and Remus find themselves alone for the first time since…ever. Even after they'd left school, they'd never truly been alone, the war pulling them in separate directions, meetings always being demanded, their friends around in some fashion nearly constantly. With Harry gone for most of the year now, it feels like the first opportunity they've had to really just breathe. Sirius doesn't want it.
They don't know what to do with themselves. There are owls, care parcels sent. They receive several letters in return, but they grow fewer and further between with each year. Harry comes home for holidays at first, but as he ages, he disappears to the houses of his friends. Sometimes they come to their home, Sirius nearly begging for it without actually begging, just to try to keep Harry as close as he can for as long as possible. Remus calls him out on it. Of course he does.
"This is going to keep happening, Pads. You may as well get used to it," he says one night during the summer after Harry's third year as Sirius is moping and pretending he's not. He glares down into the sink basin, scrubbing over a plate with a little more force. "How often did you want to stay home over holidays while we were in school?"
Sirius' head whips in Remus' direction, eyes baleful. "That's different, isn't it?" he nearly snaps. "We aren't my family, and this isn't that house."
Remus doesn't seem fazed by his tone, resting his hip against the counter's edge, hands dipping easily into his pockets. "Doesn't matter. What about me? How often did I stay with my parents?"
"Also different," grouses Sirius, turning back to the dishes and glowering down at them. "You had me, didn't you? Prize and a half."
Remus snorts. "Cocky," he mutters. Sirius ignores him.
"I just don't understand why they can't come here," he grumbles. "Why does Harry always have to go there, away from us?"
"They do come here," says Remus gently, stepping up a little closer. "And Harry doesn't always leave. But he's growing up, Sirius. He's making his own life exactly like we taught him. You've got to let him do that. You can't keep clinging. You'll only drive him further away if you do."
"I am not clinging," denies Sirius, hands raking the soapy flannel furiously over a spot that just will not be removed. "Just because I want to see him, spend time with him, know how he's doing and feeling and – "
He stops suddenly when soft fingers touch his cheek. Sirius jolts a little, pulling out of his spiral he hadn't even realized he'd been drifting into. He looks up at Remus, hands dropping the plate when one of the other man's settles over his wrist.
"I know," murmurs Remus quietly, firmly. "I know, Sirius. I understand." Sirius feels as though all the air is leaving him, and he droops, turning and letting Remus gather him into his arms, head ducking and resting over his shoulder, face pressing into the curve of his neck.
"I miss him," whispers Sirius into warm skin. "I just…he was always so – so…affectionate. And now he's…not. He's not, Moony. I can barely get him to answer a letter anymore."
Remus runs soothing hands over Sirius' back. He doesn't say anything in return, because what can be said that hasn't been already? So they stand in their warm little kitchen, Sirius remembering Harry with his chair pulled up to the counter, hands in dough as they'd made biscuits, chocolate smeared on his face from cupcake frosting, blowing soap bubbles from small fingers as he'd helped with dishes, always Sirius' task by demand, but he'd never minded sharing with Harry.
The days keep going and Harry pulls further away. Sirius learns to be okay with it, even if inside he never really is. Harry finishes school, gets a job, makes a career and name for himself. He gets married, Ginny a lovely and bold spectacle, so much like Lily that Sirius' heart clenches up a little whenever he's around her. Harry visits on occasion. They do as well. It's never enough.
Harry has a baby, and they go to St Mungo's to meet him. James Sirius. And as Sirius holds him for the first time, he's thrust back into it all, those tiny fingers wrapping around his own, gripping with far more strength than should be reasonable or even logical. Sirius thinks he'll have green eyes like his dad. Hopes.
"Give the baby to Ginny, Sirius," instructs Harry after hours or maybe just minutes. Sirius has lost track of time, staring at the perfect little face, lost in memories. He blinks at his godson.
"What?"
"Hand him over, Black," orders Ginny from her bed, holding her arms out insistently.
Sirius frowns, but does as he's told, though reluctantly. He transfers James over with care, and then turns back to Harry, frowning deeply, not understanding. He'd been bonding. They'd been getting somewhere, to a place Sirius hasn't been in far too long. He stares at Harry, who gazes back at him with an unreadable expression.
Sirius is just opening his mouth to speak, to question why he'd just handed that drop of absolute perfection away for no apparent reason, but before he can form the first word, Harry is moving forward. His arms wrap around Sirius, pulling him in, and it's the first time Sirius can remember an embrace by his godson that hadn't been forced into existence by his own hand.
He stiffens for a moment in surprise, and then he's crumbling, his own arms wrapping Harry up, holding him close, refusing to release ever again. They lock and Sirius feels right, so very right, something dropping and snapping back into place inside himself. There are pinpricks and stings under his eyelids, but he blinks them away, refuses to let the tears fall, not now.
Remus stands at their sides, watching and smiling, his eyes shifting over Harry first and then coming to rest on Sirius. The expression softens drastically, and Sirius feels so much love in that moment he thinks he might burst with it.
"Thank you," whispers Harry into Sirius' hair. He glances over, spies Remus, and then one of his arms is reaching out, looping around the other man, Harry tugging him into their embrace as well. "Thank you so much. For everything. Just everything you've both done."
And Sirius is not crying. He's not. The dampness on his cheeks is from sweat, the hug too warm and something he's no longer used to but better than any other he's ever had before. Because Harry is still theirs and they are his. The proof is in touch, in the softness of his words, in the love that fills Sirius full and never leaves him, not for a second.

Im not gonna add to the post cus with fat phobia it is absolutely much much worse but also
The issue of "everyday things dont fit people" is so fucking severe it drives me up the wall that even perfectly "normal" (as in what is deemed healthy and acceptable and average, not that that standard actually is healthy and more acceptable and average) people don't fit shit and it is absolutely getting WORSE. me mum only struggles clothing me and my stepsister cus I was a rake and she were fat. Compare that to now, I have a child of perfectly average proportions, much like my other siblings who only rarely had issues finding clothes.
I have NEVER found trousers that fit my child that weren't adult sizes. Bad weather and school (so like, every day in the UK) had the poor child going in clothes that were painful to wear (no it could not be sent in anything else social would have been called) because sometime between the 90s and now clothing manufacturers decided no one under the age of 18 is allowed an ass.
(And they are still gonna only produce clothes "for girls" with the intent of emphasising aspects of their body that those same manufacturers will not even accomadate!)
At my age I am finally of a somewhat average body type, you'd never guess from looking at me that I APPARENTLY have freakishly long thighs and guess how many wheelchairs, budget be damned, I have found that will fit me?
ONE. JUST ONE.
Fuck there was one year where it was just impossible to find clothes that fit the child. Apparently 9 year olds just stopped existing one year?
Fuckin. Chairs that fit my back and support my neck? Nope. I'm average come on!
I can't even get a god damn granny trolley with a tall enough handle to not destroy my back and IM NOT EVEN TALL. what do I have fucking baby arms or something? Why is it so hard to find an adjustable one?
Oh don't even get me STARTED on lack of mobility aids for short people and kids. If I can't find shit for the child then I know 10 adults who also can't get what they need.
And this is all before u even factor in fatphobia which is absolutely worse than anything I've personally encountered (ill be honest even when I was fat I was on the low side and fairly proportional so personally I ran into fewer problems, mostly because my body finally matched my tits, but I know I am an outlier with that and I could certainly see how someone flatter or shorter could have run into huge issues)
Idk it just baffles me cus there is no need for this. It is not that hard to accomadate people. It is infact easier than it has ever been and yet shit goes backwards. What the fuck.

It used to be acceptable to dress young boys in dresses. Nowadays dresses are considered "feminine," and dressing a young boy in a dress would be cause for some side-eye. Why did this change?
Some background: before the mid-20th century, it was normal practice to dress male and female children alike until the age of "breeching" (technically an 18th century term, but handy to describe the phenomenon), generally between 4 and 7, when the boys would start to wear bifurcated lower garments. There could be subtle distinctions made between boys' dresses and girls' dresses as boys neared breeching - an older boy's dress might be styled more like a jacket, with decorative buttons down the front (both sexes' dresses fastened in the back; girls would continue to wear back-fastening dresses until they were deemed adults) and cuffs, or like a kilt.
However, as you may have heard, there was no concept of boy-colors vs. girl-colors, at least not to the extent that there is today. Some publications would recommend particular tones for each gender, while others contradicted them and yet others said there was no distinction to be made. You can find images of boys in blue and girls in pink, but also images of boys in pink and girls in blue and red and every other color. (Infants were generally dressed all in white.)
The shift from gender-neutral to strongly gender-coded clothing occurred, according to Jo Paoletti (Pink and Blue: Telling the Boys from the Girls in America), between 1890 and the baby boom after WWII. One part of this is economic: restricting certain colors (pink/blue) and styles (dresses) to a certain gender meant that hand-me-downs had a smaller audience. Where parents could have previously allowed each of their children to wear the same clothing up to age five or so and then purchased/made gendered clothing, with a sense that boys and girls should always be instantly recognizable, they now had to shell out for two sets of clothing from birth.
But there are also social reasons. In the first half of the 20th century, Western society was also facing a great deal of anxiety about sexuality and gender roles. This was a time when homosexuality as a concept began to be defended, gay people began to come out/have more visibility, and women started to become a greater share of the workforce and dress in ways that challenged certain norms of gender roles (shorter hair, trousers) and standards (showing more skin, wearing fewer layers). By lowering the age of gender differentiation and more rigidly defining the ways in which children performed/displayed gender, society "struck back" against these changes.
In the 1890s, there was also an enormous fad for "Fauntleroy suits" for boys. Based on that worn in the novel (and subsequent play) Little Lord Fauntleroy, it was a black velvet suit with lace collar and cuffs, generally worn with longer hair. (You can see a couple of examples here.) The character of Cedric Erroll, the little lord himself, was not at all effeminate by the standards of the day - he's brave, strong, and active, and was generally considered charming. Even though it was thought of as a good book to give children due to its moral lessons, it still won 77% of the vote in a popular magazine's poll for favorite novel of those under twelve. The pushback began against the suit itself rather than the character or book, although the title itself is now used as a synonym for fussiness and effeminacy. Critics complained that women were blind to the fact that their sons' mischievous natures would not be erased by the suit, that they were reducing their sons to fashionable accessories or inculcating undemocratic and aristocratic standards, and that they were preventing their boys from indulging in the more active, dirty outdoors play that was coming to be seen as "natural" and necessary for male children. It seems very likely that the coming-of-age of the Fauntleroy generation resulted in the first strong shift toward more strongly gendered children's clothes in the 1900s. (For more on the Fauntleroy fad, see Kristen Stewart's Little Lord Fauntleroy: The Defense of a Fashion Victim.)
