A Hard Day's Work
The life of a dockworker, or longshoreman for us 'mericans, is an exhausting career. Just like making this illustration, 'cus holy lord, this has 23 layers. The good thing is I really get to tell a story though a piece like this: Pasquale (our hero, and the boy resting on the barrel) just finished another long day of loading and unloading cargo, and he's just about ready to go back home. Little does he know about the surprise he'll encounter as he's about to head home... Also, if anyone gets the name of the tramp steamer in the background, I'll give you a big ol' cookie!

"A little boy struggling to fit in with the crowd of strange creatures that inhabit the mystical jungle he calls home, meets another just like him, who encourages him to shed his disguise and have some fun. But soon he faces the choice between expressing himself authentically, or going back to a life of conforming to expectations."
Trying to put some more of my art up here as, so here are some early Concept art for a short film I'm working on for my storyboarding class

Concept art and early designs for Daisy/Tratnćica and her friend Violet from my short film, The magical girl.
Daisy's design is really fun to draw and even now, months after I'm finished with the animation, I still find myself doodling her on the side of my notebook. Her hair was also fun to animate because it emotes alongside her and makes every shot look more dynamic.

BONUS: hypothetical designs for their school uniforms. The conversation she has with Violet originally happened at school, but I think the magical girl graveyard is a much more interesting setting for that conversation and creates a much more impactful image. Also saves me the time of drawing a bunch of background characters lmao

Here’s a big collection of sketches and concept art I did for my short film, "Heirloom," these mainly focus on main characters,,, most of this stuff is from 2022 and 2023. It’s not everything, but it’s a pretty good chunk of the arts that helped me shape the characters :D

Character designs I made for the clip we've done with my friends. The designs are based on our group's D&D characters. They already had concepts with distinct features, so my job was to stylize the heck out of them. I also made an animatic, colored the first two backgrounds, and worked on montage, compositing, and sound (for the first time in my life — gosh, was it hard).

You Won't Believe Your Eyes
Finally, I conquered my artblock last night. All it took was one single illustration that Hayao Miyazaki did for a magazine to jog the ol' Bimble Brain. Anyways, it gave me the idea for this short film about a boy who works at a dockyard in Southern Italy finding a mermaid and saving her from a hoard of pirates! It'd be an adventure ripe with excitement, love, and laughs a plenty! I sincerely hope I can pursue this idea in future, it seems like so much fun!

Color Palettes!
Here's a collection of my color palette challenges over the years. I always really enjoy them, and they help mix things up. Looking into a color palette and seeing a picture is such a fun thing. One of which was practice for my short film!
