Here’s a big collection of sketches and concept art I did for my short film, "Heirloom," these mainly focus on main characters,,, most of this stuff is from 2022 and 2023. It’s not everything, but it’s a pretty good chunk of the arts that helped me shape the characters :D

You should watch Kizazi Moto!

Okay, people. One quick thing: You should totally watch Kizazi Moto on Disney+. It is an anthology series. Meaning: 10 animated short films, each telling their own stories. All in different animation style.

If I had to describe it, I would call it: Like Love Death + Robots, but African and actually good.

Disney has not marketed it much. Heck, even with the recent release I have heard it does not show up on the front page of Disney+ for me.

But really, you should give it a shot. Especially if you want to see diversity and if you enjoy Cyberpunk or Solarpunk, because both of the genre can be found within the Afrofuturist stories of the series.

I really hope more people see it.

Hey, folks! My company, Cotton Candy Flavor Media, and I are currently working on our first ever animated film. It’s called “Get Yeast To It”, and it’s a surreal existential dark comedy about a version of the afterlife where humans are judged by cells of yeast based on whether or not they ever ate bread. We’re currently running a crowdfunding campaign for the project so that we can raise the money we need to achieve our yeasty dreams, which is no small feat for indie artists in the midst of this truly shitty time for the animation industry as a whole. Every so often the YouTube algorithm will remember that I like watching animated short films (you know, your Gobelins, your ESMAs, your overshadowed pilots).

Last night, it kicked in and recommended me an animated short film called "Marmalade is Missing"

And while you may look at this thumbnail and go 'Lit, what the fuck is this? This seems sus as hell', the animation quality art direction are actually really good: it's a story about a Burlesque dancer's pet cat who goes missing right before showtime.

However... You never want to be the type of person to look at certain body-types presented in media and go 'oh, this must be someone's kink' or 'oh, I must be on the weird side of YouTube!' Because even looking up the studio that posted this video on YouTube, Winding Snake Productions, brings up a legitimate, small-time, non-profit independent studio.

However... There were several moments while I was watching this where I just couldn't help but think 'Is... is this a fetish thing? I feel like this is a fetish thing'.

Edit: I almost forgot to mention that the name of the director/head-animator for this short is James Nutting.

Short Film Announcement!

For October, I challenged myself to create an original 2d animated short film from start to finish in just one month. Due to some personal reasons, its release will fall short of my anticipated premiere day of October 31st, but while I wrap up some loose ends on the project I wanted to go ahead and announce its upcoming completion! :D You can expect it to drop within the next 5-10 days :) If you are already missing spooky season, you'll love this charming and silly short about Halloween mischief 😈
