X BADGE QUEST SHINY #2

This one should not have taken this long.

Summer 2022: I decide I want to do another shiny BQ in generation 6. I get a lovely shiny Fennekin in July 2022.

And here we are 2 years later with target #2.

A total of 12 phases on the dreaded route 22 where I obtained, over the course of 2 years, while juggling school: 1 Psyduck, 2 Farfetch'd, 2 Azurill, 4 Bunnelby and 2 Riolu, the latter having a 5% encounter rate whereas my target, Litleo, was 20%. A farce from the universe, obviously.

I am so happy to say I finally found Litleo, and a male one on top of that! I do like male Pyroar better than female Pyroar. I initially just went into this hunt allowing fate to decide if I was going to get the rare male Litleo.... but after a few phases, the mystique of the Litleo hunt had washed away and I just wanted to do whatever I wanted. So to get a female Cute Charm lead I went!

He was going to be named after the leads in Lion King II regardless of gender: Kovu or Kiara, the icons, the legends.

Playing X and Y is always so fun for me, so I was thrilled I could finally press on with this quest and challenge myself by preparing for Grant with a Braixen and a Litleo. My next target shall be Honedge. With a Magnet Pull lead and a level 11 repel trick, I'm able to get a 63% encounter rate on route 6. Crossing my fingers this will be a phaseless hunt!

Shiny Lion Pride

I decided to take shiny Shinx and shiny Litleo for a picnic to see if they’d get along at all. I wondered if two lion type Pokémon might get along well.

Shinx seems a little apprehensive. She keeps running back to me.

I figure we need an icebreaker so I decided to give them both a bath. Shiny Litleo seems to appreciate it.

Shiny Shinx is filled with energy!!

Uh oh, shiny Litleo is completely out of energy! Honestly I feel that. Maybe they’ll be up for more play next time?

This is the littlest fucking guy ever I love him. I found him near the Terarium Central Plaza while searching for starter Pokémon to complete my Pokédex. My first thought was "Well OF COURSE I have to call him Simba."

The Hunt for Litleo - Shining Friends

Hi Trainers! Today I wanted to show you how I caught my shiny Litleo! Right after I accidentally caught my shiny Shinx, I happened across a Litleo on the border of the area I was in and thought... wouldn't it be cool if I had a little shiny pride?

Shiny Litleo stands out enough to me to be able to do this kind of hunt (note that you can do this hunt with any type of Pokemon, but for me it's definitely easier if there's a big color difference in the Pokemon's presentation). I looked up pictures of Litleo on my rotom phone so I knew what to look for and then sat down to prep my sandwich.

Alright, I admit I'm a little proud of the particular presentation of this sandwich. It almost looks like the demo pictures for menus, right? Also, that is one of my favorite sandwich picks.

My recipe to hunt Litleo was as follows:

One serving of pickles

One serving of cucumbers

Three servings of red peppers

Two types of herba mystica 🌿(but not sweet and sour)

The area I decided to use to hunt for Litleo is a vast grassland just north of where I hunted for Shinx. As soon as I had my picnic, Litleo were everywhere, just as I thought they would be! I had Francis (💕thanks to @anunsungcarol for the name suggestion) lead the charge to try and sniff out a shiny Litleo. There were just so many Litleo that this one took awhile, and I was a little bit nervous about accidentally missing one.

Luckily, just on the edge of a cliff...

Shiny Litleo was mostly standing on her own, apart from all of the other Litleos which was very convenient for me, as I had started to worry about visibility. On top of the sheer amount of Litleo, a storm had suddenly popped overhead and the rain was coming down so hard that it was making things very hard to see. Poor Francis was nearly shiny himself with all of the water!

Mabostiff and I worked hard to ensure that we scooped tiny Litleo up and saved her from the rain!

One the sun came out again I brought out another picnic just to take pictures and finally see her up close! I wondered what she might think of shiny shinx?
