What subjects are actually taught at the academy? I've heard of recreational mathematics, thermodynamics, and touch telepathy, but what other courses are there?
What subjects do young Gallifreyans and Time Lords learn?
For once, we can be very very detailed about this!
🔬 Fundamental and Advanced Sciences
Quantum Mechanics: Introduced early in Gallifreyan education, this subject uses multidimensional geometry to solve complex problems, exploring the interplay between abstract concepts and physical realities.
Thermodynamics: This subject explores the principles of energy conversion between heat and other forms of energy, crucial for understanding the energetic dynamics of time-travel technology.
Cybernetics: Focuses on the study and construction of systems with regulatory functions, integrating technological and biological processes for the creation and maintenance of cybernetic beings and advanced machinery.
Matrix Diagnostics: Covers the techniques and tools used for diagnosing and maintaining the Matrix, a vast repository of Time Lord knowledge and consciousness.
⏲️ Specialised Temporal Studies
Basic Temporal Theory: Introduces the concepts of time and its properties, laying the groundwork for more advanced temporal manipulation studies.
Advanced Temporal Theory: Offered to students with intellectual perseverance, diving deeper into complex temporal phenomena and manipulation techniques.
Temporal Engineering: Encompasses engineering principles to temporal mechanics, essential for practical time manipulation.
TT Capsule Construction and Design: Focuses on the design and construction techniques specific to Time Travel Capsules, integrating advanced dimensional engineering and Veteran and Vintage Timeships.
TT Capsule Operation and Maintenance: Includes Space-Time Navigation, covering the operational aspects and routine maintenance of TARDISes.
Engineering Theory: The study of spaceship construction in general from different cultures.
Stellar Engineering and Cosmic Science: Deals with the manipulation and understanding of cosmic phenomena.
Dimensional Science: Studies the properties and manipulation of various dimensions beyond the standard three-dimensional space.
Dimensional Engineering: Applies engineering principles to manipulate and control various dimensions for practical uses.
Spatial Cartography: Teaches the mapping of space and the intricate layers of multiple dimensions.
Temporal Protocol and The Laws of Time: Ensures that all actions taken by Time Lords are in accordance with Gallifreyan law and temporal ethics.
Temporal Classics: Studies classic temporal theories and their applications through history.
🧠 Psychic and Telepathic Disciplines
Touch Telepathy: Teaches advanced communication techniques using innate psychic abilities.
Telepathic Defence: Includes mind-shielding techniques to protect students from psychic intrusions.
Psychic Field Manipulation: Standard training that covers manipulating one's psychic environment, including the science of Temporal Stasis.
🎨 Arts and General Studies
Super-logic: A complex form of logic used to solve problems that are beyond traditional logical frameworks.
Recreational Mathematics: This probably includes the study of happy prime numbers and other 'fun' maths (is there such a thing?), blending leisure with learning.
Art: Covers various forms of Gallifreyan art, including the creation and study of stasis cube art.
Gallifreyan History: Covers Gallifrey's past, including studying cosmic influences like those of the Assyrians.
Future History: Involves the study of fixed points in history, such as the Cro-magnon period on Earth.
Vector Justice: Teaches the principles of fairness and justice as practised by the ancient organisation known as the Vectors.
Botany and Biology: This field covers the study of Gallifreyan and alien plant and animal life, incorporating advanced biophysical studies.
Medicine: Includes tri-bio-physics and other medical sciences.
Languages: Teaches the linguistic skills necessary to communicate across thousands of different languages.
Music: Explores musical theory and practice, including the traditional harp lessons.
Detachment and Physical Inactivity: Focuses on mental and physical disciplines required to maintain objectivity and calm in all situations.
📚 The Culture of Learning
The Academy isn't just about academic achievement but also about instilling a deep-seated ethos of service and responsibility towards time and the wider universe. It's complemented by:
The Codex of Disciplines: A guide to the ethical and practical aspects of time travel and interaction with both time and the multitude of species across the universe.
Competitive and Collaborative Learning: From zero-gravity hyperball teams to Academy Sprint Championships, Time Lords are encouraged to excel in both individual and team endeavours.
Related:
How is sexual education taught on Gallifrey?: How Time Tots might get taught about sex.
What happens with 'gifted kids' on Gallifrey?: How Gallifrey deals with particularly talented children.
Do Gallifreyan children have toys?: Describing the very limited supply of toys for kids on Gallifrey.
Hope that helped! 😃

Reworked Group #3: Peregrine Falcons Squad
Overview
Shortly after the establishment of the Regular Army, the Joint Military Police Headquarters assisted the Regular Army in dismantling a transnational drug trafficking organisation led by a corrupt North American politician. Recognizing the benefits of a strategic partnership, the Chief of the Regular Army and the Joint Military Police Headquarters formed an agreement to establish an elite task force. This specialised unit would handle high-risk situations requiring indirect or covert intervention, beyond the scope of conventional military operations. The newly founded elite task force branch would be called the Peregrine Falcons Squad and became the Regular Army's first special forces unit.
As part of their affiliation with the Joint Military Police Headquarters, they serve as highly trained soldiers supporting global law enforcement. They assist police officers from various countries with transnational criminal issues and global security threats. They also aid in preventing global terrorist threats and combating warfare waged by highly dangerous groups.
Insignia
It features a two-engrailed shield outlined in gold, divided into three columns: saffron-yellow on the right side, emerald green in the centre, and crimson on the left side. The initials "P.F." are rendered in dark silver, separated by a gold bullet, and surmounted by a downward-facing sword with a ruddy blue hilt, positioned behind the shield. A circular wreath of laurel leaves encircles the shield, evoking the image of the sun rising over the horizon. Two stylized peregrine falcons with ruddy blue eyes stand guard on either side of the shield, adopting a heraldic pose.
P.F. Squad Base
The Joint Military Police Headquarters is situated adjacent to the S.P.A.R.R.O.W.S. base, nestled deep within a dense forest in Northern Russia. It’s a high-security, hexagonal-shaped facility equipped with an advanced camouflage system that can adapt and change its exterior appearance to blend seamlessly with its surroundings, mimicking rocky, snowy, and greenery hues. he compound is reinforced with multiple surveillance posts, each manned by expertly trained snipers. Additionally, it features security cameras integrated with non-lethal deterrents and advanced perimeter defence systems, equipped with intrusion detection and rapid response capabilities. Within the compound lies the following facilities:
A Defence Department that serves as a centralised hub for strategic planning, operational command, and tactical control.
A well-maintained barracks for military personnel, providing a safe and functional living environment.
A Combat Academy, led by Sophia Greenville, featuring advanced combat training centre, a simulated warfare environment, a tactical operations centre, a physical conditioning gym, and a medical and recovery wing.
A secure storage facility for firearms, ammunition, and tactical gear with strict access control and inventory management.
A maintenance and storage facility for military vehicles, ensuring readiness and operational capability.
A secure conference facility for senior leaders to conduct high-level briefings, financial planning, and strategic sessions.
A restricted briefing area for P.F. Squad commanders and elite operatives to plan missions, share intelligence, and coordinate tactical operations.
A self-sustaining military city, fully equipped and trained to respond to emerging threats with rapid deployment capability.
Marco’s Base
It's worth noting that the P.F. Squad operates multiple bases worldwide, all of which are named after birds of prey, such as Condor Operations Base, Hierofalcon Operations Base, or Goshawk Operations Base.
Owned by the P.F. Squad, the Sparrowhawk Operations Base, hidden in a forested mountain in an unoccupied area of Britain, serves as the residence for Marco, Eri and her team of rebel Ptolemaic troops, Tarma, Fio, Trevor, Nadia, Ralf, Clark, Tequila, Gimlet, and Red Eye. It’s camouflaged to blend seamlessly into its surroundings, serving as the nerve centre for their operations. They have a nearby landing pad, camouflaged by a thicket of trees, allowing aircraft to land undetected. The base features multiple facilities:
A large, circular room equipped with eighteen business chairs, a holographic display table, a large cork board for investigative purposes, and multiple maps for various missions, serving as a central hub for tactical planning and military briefings.
A private workspace for Marco and the others, which is equipped with a mini fridge, work computers, twenty file cabinets, sixteen rosewood desks, secure communication devices, a business phone to call friends, family, and other military personnel, and a vast library of military strategies and historical texts.
A heavily fortified room storing an arsenal of firearms, ammunition, and tactical explosives.
A well-stocked storage room containing uniforms and tactical gear.
A laundry room equipped with two washing machines and two dryers where they can wash and dry their dirty clothing.
A spacious dormitory features numerous comfortable beds and a secure safe for storing the soldiers' phones and wallets, each labelled with its owner's name. In a cozy nook perfectly suited for Perifa, Sparky, and Mr. Kibleton, their feline-friendly setup awaits, complete with a cat tower, three plush beds, a variety of toys, three food bowls, and a filtered water dish.
Three clean and well-maintained bathrooms with showers, toilets, and sinks.
A secure, climate-controlled garage houses their primary vehicle, the SV-001, maintenance equipment, a couple of motorcycles, and a small oakwood table for Tarma’s boombox and assortment of alternative and metal rock tapes.
A kitchen equipped with a dishwasher, a sink, a marble top counter, a cabinet full of plates and cups, and a built-in breakfast bar and eight stools for quick meals and planning sessions. The kitchen features a refrigerator with a freezer, a secure, locked pantry, a discreetly hidden coffee maker, and modern, high-efficiency appliances with advanced features like automated meal prep and cooking A large, sturdy table made of smooth oak wood serves as a central hub for meal planning, tactical discussions, and mission briefings. Additionally, the kitchen includes hidden compartments and drawers for storing snacks and energy bars.
A cozy recreational space with a plush couch, coffee table, wall-mounted wide-screen television, cabinet full of board games, dartboard, and nostalgic decor featuring posters of 80s action movies and 90s anime. For entertainment and stress relief, the room is also equipped with four classic arcade machines (CarnEvil, Shinobi, Contra: Hard Corps, and Dance Dance Revolution).
Extra Information
Members of the P.F. Squad are commonly known by the monikers "Peregriners" or "Falconists", distinguishing themselves from other Regular Army soldiers and special forces units.
Despite being an elite task force, Peregriners, regardless of gender, receive only half the salary of an average police officer. Furthermore, underperforming Peregriners face additional financial strain, as they often experience delayed salary payments, waiting anywhere from two to four weeks to receive their compensation.
The P.F. Squad is frequently joined by the Intelligence Agency's special forces unit, S.P.A.R.R.O.W.S., in situations that the Regular Army requires them to handle.
They possess a remote archipelago in the South Pacific, which serves as the final training ground for P.F. Squad cadets. This culminating training session challenges cadets to survive in a hostile environment with scarce resources and limited weaponry, fostering reliance on teamwork, independence, and adaptability. In accordance with a mutual agreement, the P.F. Squad has granted the Regular Army permission to utilise the remote archipelago as a training ground for cadets interested in joining the special forces as regular soldiers. Those training for the special forces are required to wear vests in their chosen colour with the P.F. Squad logo embroidered on the back.
The handguns carried by Peregriners are the Murder .50AE, which is modelled after the Colt M1911A1 pistol. It’s a semi-automatic pistol that fires .50 calibre Action Express rounds. The magazine capacity is seven rounds with an additional round able to be stored in the chamber.

Height chart for the original Phoenix Drop residents (made with heightcomparison.com) and some additional information for each
Tumblr media
Avira (Aphmau) is very strong, despite not looking it. Spending practically everyday doing hard labour, building up the town, hunting, adventuring and training with the village guards, she builds up a lot of muscle over time, but she always stays looking soft, weak. She doesn't mind this, though, using it to her advantage to trick opponents.
Garroth is a giant of a man, he is broad, bulky and imposing. Coupling that with his bulky O'khasian armour and full face-cover, and he's almost frightening to anyone outside of the village. His fighting style revolves around defence, either of himself, or, more often, the others around him, wielding his sword and shield with a deft expertise, having trained almost his entire life.
Zenix is scrawny, perpetually hunched over and generally looks very boyish. He's messy, looking like a disgruntled, irritated teen despite being twenty already. This is due to his Shadow Knight status, awakened Shadow Knights only age physically when they want to, their looks reflect their minds- Zenix wants to be a kid again, he wants to be the lanky teen Garroth treats him as, despite knowing he's just a monster.
Donna is tall for her hometown, leanly muscular and very athletic. She's as strong as Brendan, and barely shows her age save for s few barely noticeable silver hairs. She has no formal training, but is skilled in combat, a master at improvising weaponry when she isn't armed, which is itself a rare situation.
Emmalyn in the one resident with almost no muscle mass, she is slim and elegant, soft in her features, often misleading her sharp personality. She isn't a fighter, or even really a worker, choosing to spend her time in the shade of the trees around the village or in the privacy of her own home.
Brendan has a very similar body type to Garroth, being broad, bulky and very imposing to new people. He's a very large man, and honestly can't handle himself very well. He's skilled with daggers, spears, and bows and arrows, though he much prefers to build, craft and carve, rather than fight.
Kiki is lanky and muscular, she was considered quite beautiful in her hometown in Tu'la because of her red hair and freckles, though that was often overshadowed by her lack of grace. She is strong, almost as strong as her brother, and also like him, she is clumsy. Despite this, she is a master of carrying things, hauling about bales of hay, flower baskets, animal feed and her two carrier pigeons at once.
Molly is a tiny ball of rage and protectiveness. She is soft, small and meek, she doesn't say much, and prefers to keep to herself. Until someone hurts her children. Her nervous, defensive personality vanishes, and she becomes an unstoppable force of fury.
Dale is broad-shouldered, barrel-chested, and has a noticeable beer belly with his drinking habits. He isn't super active as a guard, most of his days spent drunk and oblivious. When sober, he is a formidable fighter, wielding his blade with a righteous fury that very few can defend against.
Brian looks a lot like his father, broad-shouldered, and visibly muscular. He resents this. Having pale eyes and brown hair like Dale doesn't help him stay loyal to Phoenix Drop. Ivy the Creeping Venom of the Jury of Nine mentored him during his time at the Academy in O'khasis, turning him slowly against his hometown, largely for her own entertainment. But Brian doesn't know that.

Group G, Round 2, Poll 1:
Tumblr media
Propaganda under the cut
Lila Pitts
She borrowed her best friends ten year old and travelled 30 years into the future to when her ex boyfriend lived and (with the ten year old being in on it) pretended that the kid was hers with the ex boyfriend and made him look after him. She did this instead of telling the ex boyfriend that she was pregnant. I need to stress that it had been like a couple of months since she saw the guy and she showed up and was like oh yeah it’s been ten years and this is your son time to step up deadbeat. The kid wasn’t even the same ethnicity as either of them. He fell for it???
Edelgard von Hrelsveg
1) She started a war against the church, lied to her classmates, and wields a giant axe 2) War Crimes :)
1. Starting the war (planning, preparation, or waging a war of aggression) 2. Invading the Alliance (the deliberate attacks on property of neutral states) 3. The imprisonment of Rhea (the mistreatment of prisoners of war) 4. The imprisonment of Rhea (the taking of hostages) 5. Forced conscription or death (the mistreatment of civilians, civilian labourers forced to support war effort/slave labor) 6. Turning people into crest beasts (biological warfare experiments on humans) 7. Using crest beasts (the use of chemical and biological weapons in warfare) 8. Wanting the Nabateans dead (genocide) 9. Keeping the citizens in Enbarr during a battle (the use of human shields) 10. Petra is a political hostage and possible enemy (Compelling a prisoner of war or other protected person to serve in the forces of a hostile Power) 11. Attacking the monastery (intentionally launching an attack in the knowledge that such attack will cause incidental loss of life or injury to civilians or damage to civilian objects) 12. Attacking the monastery (intentionally directing attacks against buildings dedicated to religion, education, art, science, for charitable purposes, historic monuments, or hospitals) 13. Gathering soldiers disguised as merchants and pilgrims at the monastery for infiltration (the feigning, before an attack, of non-combatant status) 14. The stealing and using of crest stones (the abuse of corpse) 15. The killing of Claude (killing an enemy who, having laid down arms, or having no longer means of defence, has surrendered at discretion)"
Literally a girlboss (emperor) building her empire (conquering the continent)
"Gaslight: when confronted by Dimitri about her working with the people that caused a genocide said “I had nothing to do with that.” and “Why bother with this? Stay silent and fight.” Gatekeep: when battling Claude she said “But without sufficient knowledge of this land's suffering, I can't entrust Fódlan to you!” (Which is funny because Claude gets to be the only lord that learns the true history of Fodlan) Girboss: starts a war of conquest so that she can rule over the entire continent "

Ethnicity: Atlesian
Weapon: Due process
Gender: Man
Sexuality: Demisexual
Starting Age: 40
Aura Color: Blue
Handedness: Right
Complexion: Pale
Eye Color: Blue
Semblance: Tin Heart (A passive semblance blessing. James Aura shield makes kinetic energy slide around his body, which dramatically increases his physical defences.)
Occupation: Atlas academy general
The second person to be the Headmaster of Atlas academy, the 200th general of Atlas' army, the first general of the Atlesian army to be academy headmaster while also being an alumni of Atlas academy, General James Ironwood is many things to many people. But above all, he is a hero to the people of Atlas...
... a hero indeed. Tell me, if a hero had to choose between three people tied to the tracks of an incoming train or a single loved one tied to opposite track, what would they do? Would they just allow the train to kill three people? That doesn't seem very heroic to me. So, if it's for the greater good, you should sacrifice a loved one to save the greater number... and when you do, will their loved ones still see you as a hero? Mark my words, James. This world does not need heros, it does not need huntsmen. And I will make sure of it...

Red on You - (Part 9) "Wake me up"
GalexRugan ZhentWeave Shenanigans
Ok, next chapter is the last one. Sorry this one took a little longer to get out but apparently new meds mean for a really messy writing process.
Ao3 Link
Leonidas tapped the doorframe of the library, watching as books were flung from the window, the two lovers, Gale and Rugan, laughing, forgetting the impending peril upon the academy’s doorstep. “Guys, we have a bit of a problem.”
Gale was the first to turn, placing a leather-bound tome on the desk beside him carefully. “Of course, Leonidas. Apologies. We should be with the rest of you and seeking a way out of this predicament.”
“It’s not just that…” There was a brief pause as the words were found to explain how Lissa had been a cause for the situation they now found themselves in. He chose to remain positive instead. “We may be able to save the city.”
Rugan was listening in to the brief conversation, the odd books being continually thrown. He watched as one caught the rotted shoulder of a man before toppling backwards into two others. “And why’d we want to do that? May as well just get out and set up elsewhere.”
“Maybe because it’s the right thing to do?”
He felt all eyes on him, judging him for his gut instinct to run as he always had. It had been the initial plan after all: get in, get out, play it safe. “Doesn’t matter how right or wrong it is if we die trying, though, does it?”
“Rugan…” Gale’s voice was soft, the tone used when he wanted the dishes washing or a cup of tea brewed without getting up. It always resulted in Rugan’s defences lowering.
His name spoke was met with the same defeated resignation as always. “Ah, come on. Fine… What have we got to do?”
---
Lissa tapped her foot impatiently in the main stairwell, watching the door repeatedly be slammed by the horde from the other side. She’d been thankful for Leonidas’ quick decision to play the hero rather than the inquisition she’d expected to come with Darnys’ revelation. What they hadn’t realised was this was more than just a simple trade of magic items; this was rites and heritage. It would only be a matter of time before the undead were through and the amulet back where it was meant to be.
Darnys had accrued more weapons, daggers at her side, a crossbow in hand that she loaded up in preparation. Her eyes had not left Lissa since they’d figured out she was the contact and Darnys was trying to figure out to what the reason had been for wanting such an item in the first place. “Least you could do is set up another glyph.”
“Not exactly had much in the way of sleep.” The reply was cold and sharp, the mask removed for the audience of one.
“Then at least arm yourself with that pretty dagger at your waist. Never know when you might need it.”
Lissa scowled, the threat not going unnoticed, a moment of consideration passing through her mind of slitting the throat of the pretty little Zhent, claiming it was all in self-defence. The thought was broken up at the sound of voices coming from the upper hallway.
The remainder of the party came down the stairs, Leonidas at the forefront explaining the plan that had been agreed on. “We figure that if you, Gale, could set up a shield of sorts for us, Andora has some spells to take down the initial waves combined with ranged support from the Zhents-”
“Ex-Zhent,” came the quick correction from Rugan, not willing to associate with the one who a year previously had dragged him off to be killed.
“Ex-Zhent… And Astarion can get in and swipe the necklace. With any luck, that will take them all down in one go.”
Gale listened, piecing together everything, seeing the strategy in his mind as if preparing for a game of lanceboard. “I’m none too keen on positioning a good friend in such a risky predicament. Is there no possibility of coming at this from a different angle?”
“He’s assured me he will be fine, providing we can keep the attention on us, so the odd fireball from the top of the stairs would be perfect.”
Rugan had accepted his role in the plan, sitting himself at the top of the stairs, glaring down at Darnys, who approached, crossbow in hand. “Hm. And what about you, mate?” he asked, glancing up at Leonidas. “Bringing up the rear?”
“Don’t worry about me. I know what I’m doing.”
---
“We could just run away, you know?” Astarion ran his fingers up the cotton sleeve of Andora’s shirt, watching the way she lowered her head as the blush rose on her cheeks.
They’d taken themselves to a small classroom, away from the preparations of battle, a buried hope that maybe everything would be solved by the time they came back, and they wouldn’t have to worry about the danger facing them.
“And let innocent people die? I couldn’t do that,” she replied, feeling his touch brush her arm. Despite all that had happened, who and what he was, he brought her calm, and even with the creeping fear in her mind, she longed mostly to stay in that moment with him.
“You couldn’t, or Ilmater wouldn’t let you?”
“Does it matter which?”
“To me it does.”
His answer was honest, choice and freewill, something he had battled with for too much of his life and death to let go of so easily, especially to another fickle god that would ignore his pleas. He wanted her to choose him, to leave the city with him, to taste sunlight even in the darkest corners of the world. He lowered his head, hoping that removing the sight of him would make her think of his words and actions rather than the creature he was.
Her warm palm cupped the back of his neck, delicate fingertips curling around the strands of white hair that hung above them. “Then it’s my choice, just as it’s my choice to be here with you right now.”
“And afterwards, what then?” Astarion answered, glancing up at her and seeing the softness in her eyes. He knew no matter what happened, he would lose her in some way: to the gods, to a soon or distant death, to someone else she was destined for. It mattered not, and yet hope clung pathetically to his words.
“You could always join me at the temple. Ilmater would accept you.”
He scoffed at her words, the thought of him standing in a sun-drenched temple, giving more and more of himself to the people that begged on the steps. “I’ve sacrificed enough in my life, darling. I swore to myself I wouldn’t allow it to happen anymore.”
“Life is nothing but sacrifices, even for the things we love.”
“And do you love me?”
Andora’s lips met his softly, the world vanishing around them with the touch. She would not answer his question, would not let him know of the reason her heart pounded so readily, would not tell him of all she would sacrifice if it meant a life of happiness for him.
---
Rugan had scouted the supplies found, and armed himself with bottles of Alchemist’s Fire, a distant memory clawing at him, which he chose to ignore. Gale and Leonidas had left with Lissa to check the other exits of the academy and Rugan had stayed with Darnys, watching as she sharpened her blade, her eyes jumping between him and the steel in her hand.
“Guessing Friol scarpered first chance she got,” he muttered, the silence getting to him.
Darnys focused on the dagger, refusing to let him annoy her. “She has a plan. She’s not you after all.”
“Her plan has always been to save her own hide.”
Darnys knew this was true, the warehouse a year ago being the prime example. Friol had been hit with a spell and then made a run for it, watching as the warehouse went up in flames and then blaming everyone else for their poor abilities under stress. “Yeah, and she’s doing that by getting this artefact back. I don’t think you realise how much trouble you and your boyfriend caused with your display last year.”
“Hehe, good times,” grinned Rugan, not at the thought of the danger they’d been in or his near-death experience, but simply at the chaos caused to his former employers.
“You’re pathetic.”
Rugan stood, stretching his back out with a groan and wandering down a darkened corridor. “No, lass. What’s pathetic is you running after someone like Friol, thinking you’re all big because you smuggle some goods and kill some folk, when really, you’re just some faceless lackey. Expendable and meaningless.”
Darnys hurried after him, refusing to be insulted and not have the ability to get in the last word. “Coming from you, that’s rich.”
“Might not mean anything to the Zhents, but…” His thoughts drifted to Gale, of their first night together, of scars lovingly kissed and destructive pasts forgotten. He looked up at the paintings as they walked the halls, curious how long it would take for Gale’s own to be hung amongst them.
She followed Rugan, her irritation rising with how sickeningly positive he was being. Disgust or the jealousy she wished to ignore; she didn’t know. “Oh, you mean something to the Zhents alright. You might think you’re all safe here in Waterdeep, but they’ll get to you one day.” She watched as he stopped moving, his eyes trained on a painting in the shadows of the hallway. “Are you evening listening to me?”
His eyes narrowed, the lilac stare of the male drow elf on the wall taunting him with the darkness behind the look. The flow of the white hair looked familiar, the amulet around the neck a deep black, captivating onyx. “Does this painting remind you of anyone?”
“Seriously, that’s what you’re…” Darnys’ eyes caught the image, the instant realisation of why she had been so wary of Lissa lighting up in her mind, and her annoyance forgotten. “Shit.”
“We need to tell Gale.”
---
Andora and Astarion made their way back to the main stairwell some time later, their fingers entwined and minds elsewhere. They sat preparing together, whispering and watching as Lissa and Gale spoke together, seeing how Leonidas trained in the corner, moving sharply in his armour.
“And you’ll protect me?” Lissa uttered with a pleasant smile.
Gale gazed into her eyes, the purple reminding him of the Weave. She’d spoken for some time about how glad she was that he was there with her, that he had saved her from an almost certain death, and as they came back to the main stairwell she had spoken further of the upcoming battle and how she would need him. He felt flattered by her words, but the pull that had lingered before had now softened to almost nothing; thoughts of Rugan keeping him grounded.
She curled her white hair as she continued to speak, the dancing lights making it appear as if she were glowing. “I know your friend wasn’t too keen on me, but maybe he will come to like me with time. We could all have dinner together. Just me and you…and him.”
“My dear, that sounds like a truly marvellous idea, but as we are both aware, it will need to be postponed until we are in a more suitable location,” Gale answered, noting how she had subtly tagged on the last of her sentence with no real commitment.
“Get away from her, Gale.”
Rugan aimed the crossbow in her direction, his steps quick as came from the corridor and forced himself between the pair. Darnys circled around closely, a dagger at the ready for what might happen. The others were quick to join them: Leonidas keeping his grip firm on the hilt of his sword, Andora peering over Astarion’s shoulder.
Gale looked between them all, confused at what was happening. An awkward love triangle was no reason for the behaviour he was seeing. “Rugan? What in the world are you-”
“She’s the one who’s caused all this; the reason those things are trying to get in here.”
Darnys was quick to jump in with the explanation, her memory faltering at the inscription that had lain beneath the painting. “Horriblemoth or something. His painting is up in the hallway. Her ancestor or something! He had the amulet on!”
“Horrodissomoth?”
“Yes!”
Lissa shuffled back, trying to come up with an explanation, trying to keep up the image of innocence as contempt shone through without remorse. “No, you must be mistaken-”
“Shut it,” Rugan interrupted, the crossbow pointed directly at her head. “Knew there was something wrong with you the moment I got here.”
“You’re just looking for an excuse to get me from Gale. Tell them, please. You know I wouldn’t do anything wrong.”
Gale thought about all that had happened: the kaeth, her random late night at the school despite all others returning home for the holidays, the sending spell sent in such fear. Something was not adding up. He looked amongst the group, tracking where each had come from and the circumstances that had brought them together. “The paladins… There were four of them.”
“Yes, and?” Lissa knew what he was getting at; the fact being that of the four, only one now remained and of the three deceased, only two had been accounted for.
“And I only recall three in the recent hours. Percival, what became of him?”
“Gale, what are you talking about?” Leonidas questioned. He had known of Lucius and Darius’ deaths on his return to the academy, but had assumed that Percival had been securing the grounds or locating more supplies. He hadn’t known them particularly well enough to feel he should enquire about their whereabouts.
“The two became infected, as you know.” Gale ran his hand through his hair, a solemn look in his eyes at the memory of what he had needed to do. “But the third. I have not seen of him since you all arrived here at the academy.” Turning to the half-drow, he continued, the pieces falling into place. “Lissa?”
“What makes you think I’d know?” she replied dismissively.
“Because you were the last with them!” Darnys shouted, wishing to bring an end to the discussion. A part of her hoped that by taking out Lissa, the undead would cease their constant pounding at the door and she’d be able to hear herself think, but as it continued, she knew she had been terribly wrong.
Lissa smirked, knowing everything was out in the open. She unsheathed her dagger, a malice in her lilac eyes. “Poor little Percival shouldn’t have been so nosey.” With a quick flick of her wrist and a whisper under her breath, she vanished from the spot, reappearing in front of the main door.
The group remained at the top of the stairs, looking down at her, each recognising what she was about to do as her hand was held to the wood in front of her.
“No! You can’t!” yelled Andora desperately as the glyphs gave a quick glow from the door before fading out entirely, leaving the door to shake violently.
The weight of the undead rumbled at the wood, the cracks appearing as it was pushed open enough for them to begin to emerge.
“And here was me, hoping this would all go so easily,” grinned Lissa as the arms began to reach for her through the opening. “Darnys, tell your employers I’ll be coming for them first. If you live that long, that is.”

Blood Lust of Beasts Chapter 2
Fandom: Vampire Knight
Pairing: Kaname Kuran/Zero Kiriyu
Characters: Kiryu Zero, Kuran Kaname, Cross Yuki, Aido Hanabusa, Cross Kaien, Wakaba Sayori, Yagari Toga
Status: Ongoing
Chapter 1
The days passed much as they did in the Academy, mindlessly boring and awfully long. The weather had taken one look at Zero’s inner turmoil and said fuck you to you too; endless days of humid sunshine followed that terrible night, the accompanying breeze pitifully weak, and Zero felt the murderous rage within him boil over.
He made a habit of snarling at any unsuspecting victims who erred even slightly in his presence. It felt as if someone had pressed the on button for the jittery tenseness that followed him around like his own personal storming cloud and forgot to switch it off.
Yuki had done a blatant 180 degrees spin the second she spied him stomping in her general direction. In her defence, Zero had been particularly harsh when she’d dared take over his breakfast duties and nearly burned the whole kitchen down. It was a reoccurring happenstance, Zero learned to deal with it during that awful time when he’d had no other choice but to cohabit with two deranged humans. Dealing with it meant a disappointed sigh and an impromptu cleaning spree, not the screaming match that awoke Cross’ serious side – he had swept into the room decked out for a fight in an all-black outfit, long hair falling loosely over his shoulders only to pause in the doorway and stare at the pans raised high above their heads clutched like weapons. Cross rubbed his eyes, muttered something about never drinking with Yagari, and trotted back to his room.
It worked in his favour in a way because Yuki did not have the courage to bemoan his avoidance tactics; he skipped changeover duties enough times that Cross felt compelled to appoint Sayori as an honorary prefect. Sayori, a perfectly lovely girl by his standards, against a throng of crazy fan girls? She would turn into a wind chime, blown this and that way.
However, it seemed Yuki had had enough.
His duty, his little sister, the person he would not fail, not this time around, not like he had failed Ichiru. She stood over him, hands on her hips, a mighty scowl in place (she learned that from him, goddammit.)
“Zero Kiryu, you will get your lazy butt up this second or so help me I will find that secret stash of manga you think I don’t know about, and I will distribute it. Then I will insert a note in each book that will give up your identity and you will have no choice but to suffer the admiration of – “
Zero was up within seconds. He pressed his hand to her mouth to prevent other rubbish from escaping the airheaded mess. Honestly, she should have been born blonde, then Zero could have teased her with so many horrible references, just as he had teased Ichiru (never mind they were identical twins).
“Fine, but if I hear even a word – “
“Yes, yes, you will end me and all I hold dearest. But Zero, you cannot harm Mr Cat.”
She clasped her hand around his wrist, dragging him. Zero deliberately slowed down, Yuki grunted at the increased weight. She soldiered on, placing his arm over her shoulder for a better grip. Zero admired her grit, he really did, if only it had been directed at a more productive endeavour.
“He’s a cactus.”
Oh, almighty god, what terrible sin did he commit to have this nonsense in his life? He just wanted to kill vampires, was that too much? Perhaps taking on the duty of protecting one Yuki Cross had been his misstep.
“Zero you mustn’t judge.”
He sighed, long suffering. Somewhat done with this nonsense he slapped a hand over his face to shield his eyes from the world; if he can’t see it, it cannot see him either. Although, Zero still heard the buzzing conversations of the honeybees loitering outside the gates. If he had to rate the things he hated in life, then this aspect of his duties had to be at least third on the list. Above it, the second and first place would be staunchly taken over by Shizuka and Kuran. Maybe he should reserve a special place for Ichiru too – the backstabbing little bitch, he could have at least warned Zero he was going to let a bloodthirsty, crazy ass vampire into their home. If Yuki turned out anything like him, Zero would just say a giant fuck you to the world and hide his sorry ass in a hut in the middle of the woods.
Yuki patted his head, but Zero ignored the pinched mouth and creased eyes silently asking for his wellbeing. If she truly cared, she wouldn’t subject Zero to this hell.
The volume of the shrieks increased tenfold as they noticed not only his presence but the dramatic procession of vampires strolling out of the Moon dorms. Zero glared at his side made up of screaming, overly excited, sexually frustrated girls; blissful silence fell over them.
“If I hear as much as a peep from any of you, I will gladly inform you that I’m hosting school wide detention camps.”
Not even the day students have been spared from Zero’s ire. They looked down or over his shoulder nervously, shuffling in place but not daring anything that could enrage Zero. He smiled. Tilting his head to indicate the other side of the path, where Yuki’s charges were making nuisances of themselves, the girls quickly caught his meaning and laboured to shush their counterparts.
The vampires glanced around either side at the morose girls but did not comment. Hanabusa Aidou couldn’t count, he was a waste of brain cells.
Zero hoped against all odds that Kuran would be absent. He was not. In fact, to his growing horror, he had stopped to chat with Yuki, who blushed bashfully (what the fuck). Sometimes, when he really looked, Yuki transformed from the cute little sister he had raised with an iron fist to one of the many girls idolizing Kuran. She lost herself in him in a way that terrified Zero and he was helpless to it.
The girls were filtering out, most of the night class had gone too. Zero could not use them as a shield! If he were to leave now, it would be too obvious that he had in a way been evading the pureblood. Avoiding his gaze would do - Zero wouldn’t have to acknowledge him, Yuki’s admonishments be dammed.
He turned his head, using his hair to cover his eyes. Kuran’s light footsteps were too close for comfort – Zero had the sinking feeling that he was heading for him. But he only passed by, closer than expected, yes, still he kept walking. Zero could practically feel his eyes burn a hole into him. He dared a peek, the vampire’s head was turned, his brandy brown eyes dissecting Zero with the careful inspection of a serial killer. Zero blanched.
His pride can eat shit!
Zero power walked, the quicker the better.
“Kiryu.”
Zero sped up.
“Kiryu,” his tone hardened.
Zero was close to sprinting. Just give him another damn minute.
“Kiryu, if you do not stop – “
He’ll start at the border to patrol the perimeter of the academy, better there where the chances of bumping into nefarious vampires – oh look a lovely vampire! Kuran had followed him. Zero glared at the hand wrapped around his wrist pointedly. Kuran did not get the hint. He used the sudden momentum of swinging Zero around to pull him in, too close for a public venue.
“For once in your life Kuran, leave me alone.”
“People are watching,” Kuran hissed.
He pushed past Zero’s boundaries, within his very actions a mask to hide as much of their conflict as possible. His nose almost brushed Zero’s cheek.
“Just fuck off,” Zero snarled.
Kuran seemed to take that as an invitation to further invade his space, his cold breath caressing the skin under his jaw. Zero turned his head to the side, hoping to increase the distance but the vampire just slotted into the empty space, his breathing a heady thing in his ear. Zero pushed at Kuran’s chest.
“Like you said, people are watching. Let me go.”
This day was becoming a surreal nightmare, or a practice in patience. Whichever it was Zero was so done with it. He was tired of Kuran and his bullshit.
Zero jerked his arm, Kuran strengthened his grip; like a tango, one written by a fucking teenager. He took a step back, opening his stance, it gave the impression of a wider space between them. In a way it worked to avoid the suspicious eyes following their movements. This was a terrible place to have this sort of confrontation. Even Yuki was watching them intently.
“You are avoiding me.”
Zero whipped his head around, brows furrowing, he could feel a headache building underneath the bridge of his nose. He scowled. Fucking Kuran.
“Given the situation last time, yes I thought that was a normal reaction,” Zero said, voice lowered but still loud enough that at least a couple of his inner circle did a double take.
“Do not make a repeat of it, you have a duty to fulfil.”
Kuran’s thumb rubbed gently over the blue veins showing on his pale wrist. Zero startled, a curse dying swiftly as the pureblood crushed it until bones creaked and the skin turned a deathly pale. Before he could find the right words to hurl at him, Kuran swiveled away, his inner circle trailing after him like puppies. He ignored the obvious stares they kept throwing over their shoulders; if they had questions they could very well ask their lord.
Fucking Kuran.

could we see Colin, Gregory and Gareth’s reaction when they find out Eloise and Philip got married? (Umbrella Academy Au)
Now the time warp trio have landed in the time period, Sophie decides it's time to round up everyone as much as they can so they can figure out how to restore the timeline and travel back to their original time period without incurring any apocalypses along the way.
They arrive at Eloise and Phillip's first, with Sophie letting them in with a spare key.
"What's all that banging?" Gregory frowns once they step into the home and hear loud noises.
"Oh." Sophie's eyes widen with realisation and she takes in the time warp trio's collective confusion. "Oh, of course. You wouldn't know."
"Wouldn't know what?" Colin questions.
"Phil!" Eloise wails out from a neighbouring room.
"Hang on, what the hell's going on here?" Colin's brow furrows. "Is he hurting her? Torturing her?"
Just then they hear Eloise cry out and both her brothers make to go in the direction of the room all the noise is coming from when Sophie apprehends them from going any further.
"Trust me, it's not that!" Sophie tells them.
"Then what else could he possibly be doing to her in there?!" Colin splutters.
Just then the door opens and a very naked and hairy Phillip appears. As soon as he claps eyes on the unexpected visitors he yelps out and startles back into the room with a slam of the door.
"What the fuck?!" Gareth exclaims with a hand shielding his eyes as he instantly tries to repress the image he's just had to witness of his adoptive brother.
The door swings open again only this time Eloise appears, wrapped in a dressing gown, and as soon as she takes in who's in her flat she gasps and hurtles towards her brothers to pull them into a hug.
"Thank god. Thank god!" she sighs.
She then draws back, a genuinely happy smile on her face as she takes them in; before she hits them both.
"What the fuck took you so long?!" she shouts.
"Well in our defence it hasn't been that long for us!" Colin argues back as he rubs at his arm where his sister just whacked him.
"How long have you been here for?" Gregory asks.
"Almost seven years." Eloise replies - and with her answer the reason behind her impatience is provided.
"Christ. How have you managed in all that time?"
Eloise shrugs. "Better than expected, actually."
Behind her Phillip sheepishly emerges from the room they had both been in and this time he's fully dressed. Gareth greets his brother with a big hug but before he can ask him anything, Colin beats him to it.
"And what the hell were you two doing in there exactly?"
Silence falls over the room; Phillip freezes up, Sophie casts her gaze to the floor, and Eloise's eyes narrow as she tries to figure out how best to reveal all to the new arrivals.
"Because if you were doing anything to hurt her," Colin starts - but he is cut off by Eloise snorting.
"Sorry." she mumbles when her brother shoots her a look of surprise.
"What's so funny?" Colin addresses her, sensing there's something that Eloise isn't telling them.
Eloise darts her gaze at Phillip before returning to her brother. "Phillip wasn't doing anything to hurt me, I assure you."
"Then why were you crying out in there?" Gregory asks.
Once again silence overwhelms the room and this time Sophie starts inspecting the curtains like they're a source of incredible fascination.
"Um..." Phillip awkwardly clears his throat, drawing everyone's attention to him, "well, you see... the thing is... um..."
"Phillip and I are married." Eloise supplies and goes over to Phillip's side, sliding her hand into his before facing the room; united as a couple.
The time warp trio stare at them - and then Colin and Gareth start laughing.
"Okay, very funny." Gareth waves off.
"Stop taking the piss." Colin chimes in.
Gregory however is staring at them wide-eyed as he very quickly pieces together how this new piece of information matches up with the noises they heard earlier coming from the room, not to mention the couple's dishevelled appearance.
"Why would I be taking the piss?" Eloise questions with no hint of amusement in her tone.
Gareth's laughter soon dies down as he acknowledges the way Phillip is clutching a tight hold of Eloise's hand. Coupled with his and Sophie's shared silence, it dawns on Gareth that what Eloise and Phillip are telling them is the god's honest truth.
"Because it's you!" Colin points out. "I haven't spent most of my life listening to your ultra feminist rantings about how anti-marriage you are to then stand here and now have to take your word that you actually got married!"
"Well if you're going to be so misogynistic about it then don't take my word for it; take Phillip's!" she argues and then nudges her partner.
"We're uh married." he gets out nervously.
"So there!" Eloise nods.
Colin stares at his sister. He stares at Phillip. He stares between them. Then at their joined hands. And then back up at them again.
"So you're actually married?" Colin slowly processes what he's being told.
"Yes." the husband and wife confirm together.
"So... so who... who asked who?"
"She asked me." Phillip answers. "Well, she didn't ask me. She just said let's get this over with and be done with it."
Colin stares at them longer. Then something seems to click.
"Oh, hang on. Did you only marry him because during this time period married women have more freedom and what not?" he enquires. "Because that makes way more sense than you two being into each other."
"Well to be fair, it started off like that." Eloise says. "We landed back here together and people kept making comments at us for hanging around each other and living together as an unmarried couple. And while I was happy to take a stand as a single man and woman being platonic companions, I just got so fed up with all the constant remarks that I figured it would be easier to marry and shut them all up."
"See, that makes way more sense," Colin starts.
"But then it became more than that." Eloise cuts him off and squeezes Phillip's hand and gazes up at him softly.
Colin's eyes narrow. "More than that? In what way?"
"We fell in love." Phillip declares, speaking with far more confidence than he had thus far since their visitors had arrived unannounced.
"Seriously?" Colin frowns in disbelief, still thinking they were having him on.
"Completely." Eloise affirms.
Colin looks to Phillip suspiciously. "Did you make the first move?" he enquires, his tone growing more serious like that of a protective older brother as he gradually processed the fact that his sister and her supposed husband might actually be telling the truth.
"She did, actually." Phillip replies. "She was the one who brought up the fact that we should have a proper wedding night."
"Phillip!" Eloise hisses at him, her face flushing.
"What? That's how it happened." Phillip shoots back at her.
"So the gorilla torso; you're into that? No offence." Gareth aims the last remark at Phillip after addressing the question to Eloise.
"Oh I can't get enough of it. Or him." Eloise grins up at her husband. "I mean you must have heard when you guys arrived,"
"OH MY GOD!" Colin suddenly cries out as he only just realises why Eloise had been crying out from the next room. "OH MY GOD!" he repeats as he stares at them. "OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD!"
"Yeah, I figured this would happen." Eloise rolls her eyes as Colin continues his endless stream of incredulous exclaiming, continuing for several more minutes before Gareth gets fed up and smacks Colin across the face, telling him to get a hold of himself and for them all to get back to business.

Supreme Sheep (Final Rose)
What or who is the Supreme Sheep?
Simply put, certain types of sheep can ‘evolve’. There are normal sheep, Elder Sheep, and Ancient Sheep. An Ancient Sheep is powerful enough that Team RWBY at the start of Beacon Senior Academy would easily lose to one. Ancient Sheep have invariably played important roles in history, with pretty much all of them becoming legendary for their heroic deeds. As you can imagine, Ancient Sheep are exceedingly rare to the point that multiple generations can pass without a sheep ascending to that rank.
But there is something beyond an Ancient Sheep. The Supreme Sheep is the mightiest of all living sheep, an Ancient Sheep whose might towers over their peers. It is a title that can only be given via the acknowledgement of all the other Ancient Sheep.
During the Age of Heroes, the Supreme Sheep was a sheep named Windhorn. His Semblance was the ability to control gases, most commonly air. This allow him to basically control the wind, and he used his Semblance to do things like create hammers out of compressed air that could crush entire buildings with ease, wind blades that could slice through hilltops, and generate shields or walls of air so dense they could repel artillery.
Windhorn would be close to the end of his long life when the Battle of Remnant occurred. He would aid in the defence of Oerba, standing proudly in defence of the gates as one of his ancient ancestors had done. There, Windhorn would hold the gates, his proud form standing unwavering before the endless hordes of the Grimm, knowing full well that with so many of Oerba’s greatest warriors locked in combat all over the planet, it fell to him to hold the gates.
And hold the gates he would. Windhorn would stand there, unbeaten and unbowed, with the gates at his back and the Grimm before him until JENOVA was slain and the remaining Grimm were put to flight and slain. Finally, after the end of the battle, he would allow himself to sit down.
The city’s defenders would reach him, only to find that he had passed away. In accordance with the old ways of the Yun, Windhorn would be afforded a hero’s burial. He would burned atop a bier heaped with flowers taken from the meadows where he liked to graze, and his ashes would be scattered from the summit of the Father.
Of course, being such a long-lived sheep (Ancient Sheep can live for centuries), Windhorn sired many children. One of his descendants in the distant future is Fleethoof, the Ancient Sheep who spent much of his time dancing merry jigs and teaching multiple generations of Imperial nobility not to underestimate a sheep in a fight.
To put his strength in further perspective, when Diana was six-year-olds she challenged Windhorn to a fight in her Ragnarok form. She lost, and it wasn’t close. Diana did eventually win the rematch, but she admitted that Windhorn himself was likely an SSS Tier or EX Tier combatant.
Windhorn possessed overwhelming offensive ability, outstanding defence, and immense durability. He also had incredible speed and agility and was adept both at long range and in close quarters. He could strike broad areas or focus on single opponents. In other words, he possessed no weaknesses to exploit. The only real way to beat him was to simply be stupidly overpowered.

The Carrot or the Stick? Unveiling the Truth About Carrot Sunscreen
Tumblr media
When it comes to sun protection, we’ve all heard the age-old advice: “eat your carrots!” But what about carrot sunscreen? Is it the best sunscreen hidden in plain sight, or just a myth? Let’s dive in and separate fact from fiction.
The Sunshine Myth:
The idea behind carrot sunscreen stems from beta-carotene, an antioxidant found abundantly in carrots. Beta-carotene gives carrots their vibrant orange colour and offers some sun protection benefits when ingested. However, topical application of carrots or carrot juice isn’t an effective sun protection strategy.
In fact, relying solely on carrot sunscreen could leave you vulnerable to sunburn and sun damage.
Mineral vs. Chemical Sunscreens: The Real Protectors
For proven sun protection, stick to dermatologist-recommended sunscreens. These fall into two main categories: mineral and chemical.
Mineral Sunscreens: These physical sunscreens form a barrier on the skin, deflecting UVA and UVB rays like a shield. Key ingredients include zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, which can sometimes leave a white cast.
Chemical Sunscreens: These sunscreens absorb UV rays and convert them into heat, which is then released from the skin. They tend to be lighter and feel more comfortable to wear, but some people with sensitive skin might experience irritation.
The Korean Sunscreen Craze and Beyond
Korean sunscreens have taken the world by storm, known for their innovative formulas. They offer high SPF protection while being lightweight and comfortable. Many Korean sunscreens are also packed with hydrating and soothing ingredients, making them great for various skin types.
While carrot sunscreen might be a whimsical idea, Fabulous Naturals, a New York-based company, offers real sun protection solutions. They specialise in mineral sunscreens made with natural and organic ingredients.
Gentle on the skin and providing broad-spectrum protection, Fabulous Naturals sunscreens are a perfect choice for New Yonkers and everyone else seeking reliable sun defence.
Finding Your Fabulous Naturals Sunscreen Soulmate
The best sunscreen is the one you’ll use religiously every day. Here’s how to pick your Fabulous Naturals perfect match:
Know Your Skin: Oily skin benefits from oil-free formulas. Dry skin needs a hydrating hero. Sensitive skin requires a gentle, fragrance-free champion.
SPF is Key: The American Academy of Dermatology recommends a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher for daily use.
Lifestyle Matters: Active individuals who spend extended hours outdoors need a water-resistant sunscreen.
Ditch the Carrot and Embrace Real Protection
Skip the carrot juice concoctions and trust Fabulous Naturals sunscreens for reliable sun protection. With a range of mineral-based, natural formulas, they provide the perfect solution for sun-safe skin, no matter where you live. So, ditch the myths and embrace effective sun protection with Fabulous Naturals!
