Hi, it's the Rozin anon. Crawled out from my w40k obsession back into my ATLA phase because of Roku's novel. I love that little twerp, what can I say to justify myself? (Sozin too, mwah *throws him into a blender*)
Came here to complain again. Shocker, I know. And I think I figured out why so little people actually took Rozin seriously and haven't reduced into a fandom joke, like 90% of the fandom did. It's because ATLA fans don't see Roku (and Sozin) as characters of their own too. They don't take them seriously and even had shown their clear dislike for the characters. It's understandable in Sozin's case. A bad guy, an imperialist, a traitor, a closeted bigot. But I, to this day, had never understood the hate surrounding Roku.
Seriously, what did this guy do? Left Sozin alone after threatening him? Killing Sozin would've brought disastrous consequences, because he is a fire lord who, presumably, has already earned nation's loyalty to him. Killing him would've caused so much pain in the ass to the future avatars as well. Besides, this is literally exactly what everyone's beloved Kyoshi did with her fire lord problem. "But Chin the-!" She literally didn't do anything until he came to her land. How many people had Chin's army killed before she stepped in? How many villages and towns had he pillaged before she stepped in? I know the avatar is a human and literally can't be an omnipresent beacon of justice, stopping evil no matter where it is, but... Come on, girl! Also, I don't care what you say, but, that's not murder. I played Ace Attorney, I can prove Kyoshi's innocence whatever she likes it/agrees with me or not.
The volcano death? Volcanoes are fucking terrifying, man! The Yellowstone Volcanoes used to give me NIGHTMARES when I was a kid. Often times, the lava is not even the worst part. The ash fall, which would lead to food shortage and therefore massive famine, the lava coming into contact with water producing toxic gases, the area being a hell on Earth in the foreseeable future, the earthquakes, the tsunamis! And Roku had to keep track of ALL OF THOSE THINGS AT THE SAME TIME. Even if people were already on the boats, they could still had been hit by a massive wave generated by another eruption. "But Aang-!" His volcano was on land and a bit smaller. Also he had to deal with only one. Roku had to deal with two at same time, that were in the close proximity with each other, all on the same small island. No wonder Sozin came to help.
And, okay. All of the points I mentioned had already been brought up by other people when defending Roku. But, now we finally have the Roku centric novels! Yay! Finally, Roku fans won't have to read dumb shit being said about their favorite charact-
Aaaaaand people are now freaking out over the leaks! I'm not going to spoil anything here, but just... Guys... Can we PLEASE not gatekeep fucking BENDING??? Your fave won't die or become irrelevant just because another character can do what they can. Maybe focus on something actually unique and important of theirs, like, idk, their personality??? Their relationship with other characters??? How pretty/sexy they are??
Anyway, I'm pissed off and now I'll go and draw young Roku in a cow print bikini. Femboy Roku agenda, idc anymore, I'm anon, what are you gonna do to me?

BNHA AU: Villain's Quarter
Some areas of Japan are known officially as 'dead zones' or 'ghost towns'. Some were destroyed in the early quirk riots, some victim to a villain attack that resisted clean up, some the site of an attack so brutal the vast majority of the people living there left. They have no police, no heroes, but not no people. They are well populated, by those unwelcome anywhere else - the poor, the mutants and, most of all, the villains. Southwest Mutsutafu is one of them - the locals call it the Villain's Quarter.
Midoriya Izuku's mother dies a few days after he turns 13. Her funeral comes and goes, leaving Izuku all alone.
After Inko dies, Bakugo is nicer. Not nice, exactly, but on one memorable occasion he asks if Izuku's foster family is ok. Izuku cries, because Bakugo is the only person who would care to ask, and he cries because there is no foster family. He thanks him and tells him they are nice enough.
Here, the quirkless are considered legal adults at 12, he's already aged out of the foster system/any legal protections for children.
He has no money other than what was in the house - he knew his mother had a will, but he got nothing. She left him something - she told him, but apparently whoever was in charge of her will didn't see fit to give him anything. He was hungry. He was tired. He was so lonely.
Bakugo may have gotten nicer, but the other students had only become more cruel. He'd arrived to school only to see Bakugo throwing flowers out the window - the 'go join your mother' notes still inked directly onto the wooden top of his desk. A girl bumps into him, tells him she thought he was a ghost with a nasty laugh. A group of boys tell him to jump off a roof. A particularly nasty teacher asks him why he's still even here.
One month since his mother died, Izuku is done. He ran out of food 3 days ago, and he ran out of hope not long after. Entering the Villain's Quarter is said to be tantamount to suicide - so thats just what he does.
Shigaraki often wandered the streets of the villain quarter at night - Sensei ran the show, and everyone knew who he was. Those who didn't and tried to pick a fight - well.
He's not expecting to run into a kid - skinny and short, still dressed in his well worn gakuran. His eyes are empty.
Faced with what feels like an echo from his past (a little older, but he'd been just as crushed an alone and hopeless, without a hero in sight) he invites the kid back to the bar. He cringes a little, because hes some guy in the villain quarter inviting a cute little kid back to his place, that looks so fucked on so many levels - the kids gonna book it - But. The boy just nods. They get back to the bar in minutes, Tomura makes him a cup of tea (he can feel sensei's heartbreak at whatever way he must be ruining the leaves but thats sensei's problem).
He didn't really think he had much of a heart, but it sure fucking breaks when the kid asks him why he hasn't killed him yet.
(More under cut)
So! This AU features a much nicer AFO (he's trying to raise tomura well! hes. not great at it, but he is legit trying) who has morals of a sort. The morals include - touch children and die by my sword, quirk discrimination bad, and 'i will give u the chance to leave before i kill you, because im nice like that'.
He doesn't see the problem with experimenting on dead bodies - but hes not ok with experimenting on living people. Nomu are, as far as he knows, only made of dead people.
He, admittedly, just kinda likes being a villain. Crimes are fun, only some murder is bad, I like beating people up and stealing their quirks. The tale of him being a massive evil is. Kinda not true - he's just a theatre kid. But only OfA could beat him at this point so. Fair. He's not mad ab All Might beating in his face he's like "good fight. good fight - its nice to be on the ropes for a change!" All Might is not aware of this.
Tomura is also nicer! His aim isn't murder All Might, but defeat him so badly it destroys the stupid hero system. He doesn't hate All Might - well, he does, but he's aware that what he really hates is the system and All Might is just tragically easy to dislike if you are Tomura - but there are some people he's of the opinion that them dying is just an all round positive. He wants to murder them.
So when a very depressed baby Izuku shows up, they try to find out what hes doing so they can return him to the correct authorities and hopefully get him some therapy. Then they find out there are no authorities and they suddenly want to murder the whole government. All for One didn't want to rule Japan (too much effort) but at this point it seems like he straight up could not do a worse job than the actual government.
So, they keep him! Izuku helps Kurogiri around the bar and, eventually, starts cooking. Its the only restaurant in the villain quarter and its very popular - you can pay in anything with value (money, gold, information, a lot of drugs, weapons, one time just a whole puppy that Izuku instantly adopted). Izuku is actually kinda happy, for once. He doesn't agree with Tomura or Sensei, but he doesn't disagree - he helps with planning, and he and Sensei have a dedicated time each week were they play with some of his quirks.
Basically Izuku gets adopted by every villain in the prefecture. It is very stressful when you are Eraserhead, chasing up on a lead about a quirk analyst in the villain's quarter and you see a whole child wandering around some stalls selling very illegal goods in broad daylight like hes at a farmer's market.
#villains quarter au#bnha au#bnha au ideas#bnha#mha#heroaca#boku no hero#i like this au! the real villain is the government and the cops :)#like real life

Bido is gonna be the show stealer here isnt he. I wanna know what his relationships and general opinions are towards the other characters that end up in this main group of yours
cracks my knuckles (and also thank you so much for sending all these i feel the spirit of Story entering me once more)
in rough order from goodest to baddest:
greed: i could write entire essays about greed and bido even just in the context of what little we see of their relationship in canon but suffice it to say things are complicated in there. on the one hand theyre undeniably close. even disregarding how close i think they were before, just by process of elimination at the start of this theyre each flat out the most important person in each others life. bido has incredible depths of trust and admiration and care and Yearning for greed and greed in return also trusts bido completely, admires him, and loves him in his own "when i call you my possession it definitely definitely definitely doesnt mean my bff" way.
...the problem here is that on the other hand, he did tell bradley during the fight in the sewers that none of his henchmen are his friends. and bido heard that. and greed doesnt tell lies. Whoops.
having all his friends murdered, on its own, is pretty detrimental to greeds progress towards admitting (to himself as well as others) the One Big Thing. the good thing about this is that at least he does still have a guy left who he cares about enough to value HIS feelings on the subject, but the problem is dragging those feelings out into the open in the first place, and bido is going to have to be the one to do it. godspeed.
mei: she comes barreling into his life right as hes in the process of lighting the match to burn all his bridges. needless to say that match winds up tossed into the river. no one is immune. he hasnt gotten along with many kids in the past but mei is polite and earnest enough that he very quickly gets attached and starts thinking of her as part of the group, no matter how bad the fear gets that now he has someone else to lose.
everyone in this group has strong similarities that i think make them really good as a team, and with mei and bido, they each have baseline-quiet personalities interrupted by strong outbursts of emotion, especially getting really mad when they sense an injustice. theyre also both hopeless romantics and optimists at heart, even though bidos had decades to get jaded by his experiences and try to couch his hopes in realism, and mei sort of brings that back out in him, the realization that maybe the world Can be a better place. and in turn he teaches her that sometimes you have to hedge your expectations and work with what youve got. balance......
scar: so. scars got some Hangups, around chimeras. one of the first scenes i pictured when i was brainstorming this was bido and scar discussing nina, and bido bringing his own perspective on what he did that wouldnt really be what scar expected. everything about bido kind of throws scar off a little bit. he isnt sure what to make of him, whether to feel pity or disgust or?? ?compassion? (he is so burnt out on compassion but he cant help it either) (neither of them can help it)
in the end getting to know bido helps scar to realize that despite whats been done to him hes still just. A Guy. and in doing so helps him along the long road to accepting that he, too, is just A Guy.
yoki: bido does not like yoki. yoki is both all things that grate on him in a person (acts like hes still rich, snobby, selfish) and at the same time way too similar to himself for his own liking (weird little man, complains a lot, always scurrying about). he makes him self-conscious in a way he does not like at All. unfortunately for bido yoki (at some point along the line that im still not 100% solid on) decides inexplicably that he has to be Nice to bido and it drives him up the wall because he thinks hes patronizing him but its actually because i thought making yoki the ignored one-sided third point on a love triangle would be really funny.
marcoh: oh he likes marcoh even less than yoki. bidos experiences have created in him a serious distrust of any and all doctors, whether theyve been forced to quit the profession or not, and especially ones associated with the government. marcohs sadsack attitude does not endear him to bido at all and he spends most of his time glaring at or avoiding him. eventually he gets used to him being around, at least enough to stop registering him as a threat, and i do want them to talk at least once, but the two of them are probably the weakest bond in the group all things considered.
i hope very strongly that my bido characterization is enough to make people as excited about him as i am......maybe i can pull in some new bido fans with this. thats really like a solid 80% of the goal here

What do you think about ILY's Timeskip?
And I love your theories
Like in general or if I have any specific expectations?
I'm really looking forward to the time skip, to be honest, because I think we'll get to really dig down deep into the story through some themes that we can't really get into yet but we are starting to see are present (the rampant sexual assault from the Kims, Yui drugging people, what exactly happened to Nessa [was it staged or murder], what happened to Nol while he was institutionalized. I'm also really, really excited to see where all of our characters and key players will stand at that time. A lot can change in 2-4 years (I can't remember how far the timeskip is meant to jump, 3 to 4? Maybe?)
I want to see what route did Shinae take, what she's doing with her life. I want to see if Nol got the hell out of there and if so, what brings him back? Something I used to anticipate about the timeskip is that we'd see all three main characters going off in different directions - Nol aboard, Kousuke in Japan, Shinae perhaps going to school - and that the story reconvenes when all three come back into the story together. That's the thing, right? There needs to be a catalyst that makes the story pick up again.
A theory my friend introduced to me that I've been throwing around is that Yujing is working on two different stories - the one about Nol using his interview as she promised Rand, the other that she told Manli about that will take a few years to pull together. I think the latter story will happen during the timeskip, and I REALLY look forward to seeing the ripple effect of it!
But also I want to see where everyone is!!!! What is Shinae studying, what does she want to do, is she ready to play this game, how is her father, what are the ramifications of Yui finally crossing his path? What about Nol? What's he doing is he in a better place? Has anyone gotten themselves into therapy?! I worry about where Kousuke is gonna go, just based on some cryptic things quimchee has said on patreon as well, in general, what he's facing right now. Are we going to learn this early about Yui drugging Kousuke? How will he handle that? Can he deal with the cognitive dissonance, about everything he believes because of her? What can be believe? Who can he trust? Does he have to carry on and pretend like things are normal? Where will Alyssa be? Will she still be in GL4SS? As a mirror to Kousuke will she, too, be struggling to cope with something, will she also be so far from true happiness?
At this stage, though, I can't speculate TOO much on the timeskip or even start to talk about what I want to see because I have NO IDEA where we're going lmao Will Nol and Shinae resolve their problems? Do I have to deal with no closure? What's going to happen with Simhan? There's so many things I can only guess about at this point lol
PLUS we still have the MINI timeskip that gets us to graduation (WILL MINHYUK BE ABLE TO ATTEND SHINAE'S GRADUATION?) and Shinae's birthday. AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH so much to cover so much story to devour I'm SO excited for everything. I wish quimchee could just beam the remaining story in my head because I get soooo hungry for it lmao there's so much I want to know and see I'm dying to see what our driving plot turns into in the future AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
But if you have more concrete thoughts that you want to ask about please feel free to let me know!
Also thank you so much! <3 It means a lot to me that not only do people read all of my dumb thoughts but that they take the time to tell me how much they enjoy them! I appreciate it more than I can ever really convey ;~; <3

here we go again y’all
guess what guys it’s time for another episode of puppet history and my good student note taking.
right off the bat. chains on the box. yelling about said box. suspicious box.
also i have a feeling that brian david gilbert being here to win isn’t gonna end well for him. sad.
shade being thrown at new york
i love a good defenestration
charles university is in fact a boring name.
i feel like the professor being so chill about ryan calling him a douchebag was odd
i would hate to be found dead in my bathrobe
yeet out the window indeed
yes ryan we do have a word for throwing people out windows
example window scares me
why’d the professor seem a little distraught about the idea of being thrown out the window. i feel like normally he’d just threaten right back. this is odd. i might just be paranoid.
classic too many popes problem
no i do not know the name of the most important czech religious reformer of the 15th century.
welp none of those options seem more obvious than the others
why are they making the professors head larger and larger. i’m scared.
i do think that this guy has some really good point
that was a good chip joke. 12/10
“oh, yeah you murdered someone, well pay me 50 bucks and you can still go to heaven” is the same energy as “oh, you murdered someone? you got 40 bucks?” from the keddie cabin episode of unsolved
so true ryan bergara. you did not successfully murder anyone. or have you?
i don’t think jesus wanted people to die martyrs.
i love a good ritz cracker
too many jans
so true professor. everyone is exactly as they seem.
i mean showing up to church armed is certainly a choice.
um professor. heh. yeah. that is wild. can’t imagine that happening. at all. nope.
i love just throwing a bunch of people out a window
example window is still scary
thud from behind the theatre. was that supposed to be suspicious or was it just strange.
agreed not enough kicking pits.
honestly ryan as president would not be the worst president the us has had. not by a long shot.
is that the isaac newton puppet???
horse noises horse noises???? that’s not right. also i thought she was also dead????
also did the horses go to limbo when they died? because they were alive. i have so many questions.
the ad was uhhh something else
why defenestration? because why not
i love being drowned impaled and crushed by a wheel
i don’t know what creatively gruesome way i’d want to go. maybe i’ll come back to this.
i suppose being hurled out a window could be embarrassing.
dude being thrown off a church’s steeple would suck so hard
catholic lion brunch sounds like a nice little sunday activity
THEY BEHEADED TWELVE PEOPLE???? THATS SO MUCH WORK
you know maybe defenestration was the only thing they knew
mayor tossed out window? meh.
yeah why would you kill the person then throw them out the window???
oh boy here we go again
ah yeah that hot new sound of broken glass
yeah keep destroying stuff. that’ll end well.
great. good. mock trials.
aw nice upstairs.
ah fuck
i really do not like the example window
taking the hats is rude but also very funny tbh
“we’ll soon see if his mary helps him out” a banger of a line
very impressive to survive that fall.
b for blunder.
OH NO NOT THE BEES AND THE BASKETBALLS. PROFESSOR THATS NOT THE JOKE. PLEASE.
they really fell into literal shit
why did the professor sound weird.
there does seem to be a lot of piles of shit just laying around
almost martyr is in fact a really useless title
yay another war! - said no one ever
i hope this war isn’t 80 years long
oh good it’s not
BUT WHERE IS MY C DOGS BUT DAMMIT
we’re back to bathroom guy
i highly doubt that’s the last defenestration ever
oh boy musical number time
not the window
oh yeah just an angry mob. it’s fine.
really appreciate the emoticons in the lyrics
ryan looks concerned in a different way than usual
banger as per usual shane, congrats.
oh oh boy oh no
THE ALGORITHM ACTUALLY EXISTS???????
also the professor be glitching
lmao not the soaring performance
the professor out here ignoring the algorithm
oh boy it’s the puppet crème again. it scares me. especially the spelling crème like that
ryan lost the auction against connie huh? fucking connie.
the professor’s little head tilting
also he’s failing to lie so hard
oh yay i love the weird little voice change. not uncomfy at all.
aw ryan drives him home
uh huh normal work. sure.
why are there jelly beans all over the fucking floor of the theatre
love a staring contest with the moon
oooo not the flashback
okay egg. egg hatching.
shane what are you up to. what’s going on. i have so many questions.
#watcher#watcher entertainment#we are watcher#all hail the watcher#ryan bergara#shane madej#puppet history#puppet history season 5#the professor#brian david gilbert

Not the other anon, but I figured that the whole point of the quest was to face the reality that Ozma's mission of uniting the world was basically total horseshit by his manipulative god, that ultimately it can't ever be achieved without being willing to deal with all of the systemic issues that existed before then (and arguably was also accidentally CAUSED by Ozma's creation of the present world order, which superficially preaches unity but promotes only the image of unity while ignoring and overlooking the problems that ensure division). This isn't to say that he's an evil villain all along, but it's plainly clear that he is proof that no single person/Chosen One should EVER be the one to dictate how to run the world, because his biases and flaws ensured that it'd be impossible to work out without serious gaps in the system showing up.
Salem at the end of the day might be one of the major provokers of the current problems, but she certainly isn't the cause of all of the issues. A big chunk of the problem lies squarely at the Gods' feet and the destructive aftermath of their egotistical temper tantrum, and as long as Ozma keeps on trying to accomplish his mission, his tunnel vision mixed with the flaws of everyone involved in the Ozma/Salem conflict ensures that the problem cannot be solved.
It's plainly clear that in order to really begin to fix anything will have to start from:
A) Getting Ozpin to recognize that his mission is impossible, and deliberately set forth by the gods to torment him and Salem (especially the latter) for daring to stand against them.
B) Getting Salem to stop fighting against the heroes by addressing the core of whatever her problems really are because I'm not convinced that she wants to really kill the world like Ozma thinks. That's just another person projecting their own feelings onto HER; I want it from HER mouth in her own words as to what it is she actually WANTS out of all of this, why is she going so far out of her way to stall Ozma at every opportunity. Not from Jinn, not from Ozma, not from Hazel, etc. HER. WORDS.
We are TOLD Salem is this or that by other people, but many little details of her actions don't really add up to the image of a tantrum throwing mass murdering wicked witch sorceress...
So ultimately I think the resolution to her will be to find out what the hell she actually wants, either by Team Remnant realizing stuff doesn't add up, or Cinder somehow provoking her into revealing her true goals.
C) Confront the Gods and put an end to the curses placed upon both Salem and Ozpin.
D) Make the effort to start truly addressing society's problems. This is admittedly something that sorta flits between B and D, because I think the heroes will have to face the fact that many of the problems they have fighting against evil ultimately comes from society's problems, and that neglect will play a big part in the upcoming arcs plot (because let's face it; Vacuo is pretty much where everything about the current world order's problems started, and it's now got Atlesian refugees, Vacuans on the verge of civil war due to the machinations of the Crown and Vacuo's deeply eugenicist social darwinist bullshit, and whatever Tyrian and Mercury are gonna do) but that they can't really begin to resolve the matter so long as Salem and Ozma are fighting each other.
Sorry if this is a bit of a mess, but I'm trying to keep it concise and also highlight the complexity of the situation at the same time.
I don't have anything useful to add to this. Still, interesting reading.
TBH I'm feeling a little overwhelmed by it all so I'm just going to quote Ms. Belladonna. "I don't know how to make hate go away."

You know, having finally watched Dollhouse, I can’t help but notice some similarities between BtVS’s Spike and Dollhouse’s Alpha:
They’re both pretty unrepentant murderers (Spike because he’s a vampire, Alpha because he’s like 50 people and all of them have been fucked up by what they’ve been through)
They’re both hopeless romantics albeit in a totally twisted way and would do anything--and I mean ANYTHING--for the one they love including truly heinous acts
They both love super-strong women and literally worship the ground they walk on
though they also both oscillate wildly between proclaiming their love (usually in wildly inappropriate ways) and wanting the object of their obsession dead (but not really, because god fucking damn it they love them and they’re both suckers for love it’s like literally their reason for existing)
Since everyone’s superhuman here, they have no problem throwing down with their prospective honey if that’s how it’s gonna be
They both know instantly that something is genuinely special about The Girl
They both develop an obsession with the main character (Buffy/Echo) as soon as they clap eyes on them. Is it creepy? Kinda. But they get better, so... *shrug?* look, this is fiction, it’s not real, we can have this here okay
They both begin as Big Bads but canonically end up as Good Guys (even though we sadly didn’t really get to see the evolution from A to B in Alpha’s case)
They’re both really insightful and actually have some pretty valid points, however difficult or uncomfortable those points may be. But they’ve also got some pretty skewed logic mucking up the works, too
They both get an idea in their head and won’t stop until they’ve achieved their goal
They both show the ability to evolve. Like, they both realize at some point that they’re missing something critically important for them to be with the object of their affection and try various ways to fill that gap. Unfortunately, they both get it wrong a few times before getting it right (again, Alpha was on this road, but the show got cancelled before we got to see the whole transformation. We really only got to see the beginning and end :( which sucks, but we know it happens somewhere in the vaguery between S2 and the Epitaphs timeline)
There are so many opportunities for the main characters of both shows to just kill the Big Bad Evil son of a bitch and end things then and there, but they just... don’t? and then Spike/Alpha just get up and walk away lol
Some of the developing themes around their characters revolve around similar questions of identity and nature vs. nurture: how much does your original self remain when you become a demon/Doll? Which is stronger, your original self or what you were made to be? Are you shackled to your “nature” or can you change to become someone better? Someone you want to be? How can you do that when you’ve done so much wrong (and you’re low-key kinda not sorry about a lot of it)?
They both can switch between being comedy gold and genuinely menacing on a dime
And **MORE SIGNIFICANT SPOILERS AHEAD**
honestly? I think they both ultimately end up in love with the reality of The Girl than the idealized version of her. At first Spike is attracted to Buffy as The Slayer. As he evolves and they grow closer, he tries to convince Buffy to become a creature of darkness like him because he thinks that’s the only way they can be together. But he does love the human parts of her, and in the end accepts the complexity of who she is and loves all of her without reservation or expectation. Angel, on the other hand, loved the idea of Buffy more than the reality of her and never really moved past that. He insisted he knew who she was and what was best for her. By the same token, Alpha believes Echo will love him the moment he frees her by recreating his Composite Event. He tries to convince her that they are the same kind of new being, that they are gods/ubermensch, but she rejects his worldview and him. That doesn’t stop Alpha from trying to understand why she did that and attempt to bridge the gap between himself and her. He initially rejects Caroline and "loves" Echo (the Doll and all her many personalities). He’s frustrated by her rejection, but seeks to understand it. After he imprints himself with Paul Ballard’s personality, I think he would have gone on to a) actually understand love beyond obsession, and b) love Caroline AND Echo. Additionally, like Spike when he got his soul, I think he would also have better understood his own deficits and felt more remorse for his past sins. He would have vacillated between doubling down and seeking atonement, at turns hindering and aiding the main characters before eventually committing to a heel-face turn. He was on the same road to reformation and redemption as Spike was and likely would have loved Echo completely without asking for anything in return (as seems to be implied by their interactions in Epitaphs II). Paul, on the other hand, is attracted to Echo but in love with the idea of Caroline (without having ever actually met her until much later, and that didn't really work out too hot for him because, like he did with Echo, she holds him at arms length emotionally). Despite realizing that Echo is becoming a person in her own right with her own desires and feelings, he shuts Echo down every time she tries to get closer to him, presumably because he feels like any relationship beyond a professional or platonic one would be a violation of Caroline’s being. Basically, he sees Echo as only and forever a vessel, an empty shell to someday be filled back up by Caroline--and when that day comes he is hoping that she will love him back when he “rescues” her (and, unlike Alpha, seems more stubborn about sticking to his guns and waiting for the “real” girl to come back instead of realizing shit’s a lot more complicated than that now).
Idk, I'm just saying from what I see there's a lot of common ground here. Don't get me wrong, there are some significant differences between Spike and Alpha, too (as well as Buffy and Echo's respective situations), but I found some of the parallels intriguing. A lot of this is conjecture for Dollhouse/Alpha because the show got canceled before they could really explore Alpha's character arc. And look, I know this is personal taste, but just like with Spike vs. Angel, Alpha was way more intriguing than Paul imo.
(also, like, there are THREE gifs of Alpha that I can find. THREE. How? Is? This? POSSIBLE??? How am I supposed to work in these conditions?!?)
Anybody else see any other parallels between Spike and Alpha? Or maybe between Buffy and Echo/Caroline? and are any of my fellow spuffy shippers also on this ship? if anyone out there loves spike but hasn't seen dollhouse, I'd recommend it, also please talk to me, I need people to talk to about my new hyperfixation/problematic blorbo...
#spike btvs#alpha dollhouse#dollhouse show#dollhouse 2009#spuffy#long post#meta analysis#it feels like whedon kept trying to write a certain kind of bad guy#to make the “good guy”/intended love interest look better#but inadvertently creating a way more interesting character#that has internal drives that actually push them to grow into better people#and that end up understanding the main character on a fundamental level

After the two of them free your foot from the bear trap that they had set up, another man introduces himself to you.
"My name is Takeomi," he nods as he kneels beside Wakasa. "I've got some bandages and water but it's gonna hurt like hell so you might wanna bite down on something."
"How 'bout Wakasa's arm," you groan as Takeomi reaches for your leg and moves it toward him slightly.
"Words hurt, Y/N," he shakes his head.
"Then can you at least tell me what's going on? You look like you know something that I don't... I mean, where even are we?"
"We're still in Japan," he explains as the two of you both watch Takeomi set up the few things he'd brought. "It's just, obviously, not the same one we're used to."
"Some kinda parallel universe where the only thing that matters is how many people we kill," the woman scoffs. "I'm Senju, by the way."
"What do you mean the only thing that matters is murdering people? Is that what the trap was for? Are you going to-"
"Well it was and we were going to kill you until Wakasa ruined it," Senju grumbles.
"Why?" you then ask plainly, a bit speechless.
Takeomi sighs and rolls up his sleeves. Though at first you think nothing of it, you soon spot a strange tattoo written on the inside of his left wrist.
"What we mean is that for some reason, we've all got numbers on our wrists. Right now I've got a two. But apparently, for every kill you make, your number goes up."
"And how did you figure that out..." you ask as you look over at Wakasa, who lifts up his arm and shows you the number three.
You then quickly fumble with your own clothes and pull up your sleeve. "I have the number two," you say with wide eyes. "I didn't kill anybody though!"
"We all had a two when we got here. It must be what you get to start with," Senju shrugs.
"So then, what happens when you go below a two?" you nervously ask. But just then, Takeomi pours water on your ankle and you cry out in pain.
"Will you shut up?!" Senju grumbles as she slaps her hand over you. "I'm pretty sure you die if you get to zero but I don't really want to find out. But if you don't stay fucking quiet, I'll kill you before that even happens."
"Okay, I'm done," Takeomi then tells you as he sets an empty water bottle down on the forest floor. "Just need to bandage you up and we'll be set."
"It just doesn't make sense," you shake your head, still trying to wrap your brain around everything you've experienced today. "You're saving me instead of killing me, which in turn makes you not have as many days to live."
"Don't worry too much about it, Y/N," Wakasa shakes his head.
"Yeah." Senju agrees. "We'll work as a team and it'll be okay," she smiles down at you. Just now, you realize she has your gun sitting in her hand.
"Shit," you think to yourself. "She might kill me still. It's not like I knew Wakasa all that well. What if they turn on me?"
"So what do you say, Y/N," she then continues. "Will you stay with us for awhile?"
"It'll be better than going off on your own," Wakasa agrees. The salesman in him just couldn't hold back.
Knowing that you don't really have much of a choice, you agree. "Yeah, I'll stay. You're both right. I don't know what the hell I'd be doing on my own."
"Good, then we'll all hunker down here for tonight," Senju nods. "I grabbed some carrots from the forest where I shot that deer. We'll have a nice balanced meal together!"
"Eating... deer meat?" you clarify. You've never eaten deer before.
"Got a problem with it?" Wakasa asks. "You could always go shopping. I'm sure the Walmart around the corner is still open at this time of night."
"No, I was just asking," you respond quickly. "I'm not complaining."
"Good," Senju smiles as she throws a few sticks into a pile. "Then you'll help me cut the meat while the boys grab some more wood for a fire."
"Won't a fire cause attention?" you ask her as you scoot yourself closer to where she'd put the pile of sticks.
"Good point," she nods. "We'll just have to make a small one and put it right out when the meat's done cooking."
"Okay, guess we're up then," Takeomi nods to Wakasa. "Let's go."
When the boys walk off, Senju steps behind a nearby tree and bends down. You watch carefully, trying to figure out what she's doing, until she starts walking backward with a deer's hooves in her arms. You nearly puke at the bloody sight before you. She must've shot it with your gun after you passed out.
"Hey, Senju, did you get a, uh, point on your wrist from killing that deer?" you ask hopefully. Maybe you won't have to kill people after all.
"Nope," she says as she grabs two knives from a backpack left nearby. When she hands one to you, a dark thought of stabbing her and rushing off flashes through your mind. But when she sits down beside you with a sigh and starts hacking away at the poor animal, you decide against it. Wakasa's here and you have no idea where Hinata and Takemichi are. You'd be all alone without this group you've found. Not to mention that Kisaki's probably pissed you left with his gun.
"Are you gonna help me or not?" Senju asks as she looks over at you. "Grab a chunk and start cutting 'til you get to the good parts! We need enough for the four of us."
"Uh, actually, I was thinking maybe I could cut the carrots? It'd be one less thing you'd have to worry about," you ask nervously, hoping she doesn't think of you poorly. It must be so obvious you don't want to rip open the poor animal.
"Yeah, that's a good idea. You do that. I know how to get the best parts anyway," she nods as she goes back to work. "Let me know when you're done."

my dad told me to write a book about this past week but I don't have the strength so I'm gonna make a tumblr post about it.
starting wednesday: my great aunt dies. she was 88, so it's fine, just terribly depressing she died in a nursing home because her husband refused to have her at home in her last days. her husband, who has always been a control freak and the most stingy person I will ever meet, is Going Through It.
he's letting me and my mom and aunts do what we need to do for the showing, but he's controlling it all and yelling. the stingy part comes out when he asks the funeral director if the fridge connected to the coffin with his wife's body inside must stay connected to the electricity and must stay on. laughter ensues. honestly, thank god he asked in advance, otherwise he definitely would have pulled it out of the outlet. I can just imagine walking into his house the next day with the smell of rotting corpse. next day, he gets a 40° fever that simply won't go down.
aunts and everyone else starts going "please please don't make us have a double funeral". he is yelling blasphemy as they take his temperature multiple times a day. it's also worth saying he recently got his bladder removed and so now he pees in a bag. since he's a cheapskate, he doesn't empty it in the toilet, otherwise he'll have to flush and water is expensive I guess. so every couple of hours he wants to go in the garden and fuckin. piss in there. he falls down as he goes, hurts his ribs. fever goes up again. doc says ribs are okay. sure. fine. okay. fever goes down and up throughout the next four days. we're all worried sick, but luckily it doesn't get worse than that.
anyway. funeral happens on friday. it's sad, of course it's sad. when I get home, I start feeling sick. I realize I probably dressed too lightly for the weather. I wanted to serve cunt to a funeral and I paid the price. the toilet becomes my best friend. my cousin calls me, "I'm throwing up". oh shit, we realize, it's not cuz I was dressed too lightly! we both got a virus! I spend the entirety of friday night shitting and being unable to sleep. I get a light fever. saturday goes the same way.
"fuck," I say, as I remember I was supposed to go to my week-long spa holiday on sunday. I can't go. I can't get into thermal baths with diarrhea. I can't drive the 2 hours required to get there, I can barely get out of bed.
so I call the hotel. "I had a loss in my family" I say, instead of "I'm shitted me body and soul". "could I postpone my visit to next sunday?" I ask. they say "sorry for your loss! of course! it's no problem! we'll see you next sunday! so sorry for your loss again!" they say it so many times I start to think they themselves murdered my aunt. anyway, cool, see you next sunday.
the night between sunday and monday, I go to sleep at 6AM. I spend the entirety of the night tossing and turning, my legs killing me from the pain. never felt anything like it. got out of bed, barely made it down the stairs, got some painkillers, managed to sleep. in the meantime, my mother is worried sick for me.
I spend the week dealing with leg pain and eating nothing, I just don't feel hunger, I lose 2kgs. I go to work and spend entire days doing nothing, since I have next to nothing to do. I was supposed to be in a spa, after all. at some point, the cat throws up next to my head while I was sleeping.
I call the hotel again, just to make sure everything is okay and the new booking actually went through. they say yes, everything is fine, we'll see you on sunday. yes my friends. yes you will. I can't wait for you.
anyway.
it's finally friday! can't believe I'm finally going away on sunday, I can already feel the warmth of the thermal baths, the smell of the salt, the sauna... but no.
my car breaks. it's not moving. the motor light comes out and says HELP ME HELP ME I CANT BREATHE. I get it to a mechanic. we gotta change a part of the motor. do not even ask me what it is because I don't know. I never learned and never will. I just know where water and gas go, the rest is science I'm not mentally equipped to understand. long story short, the car can't be used.
I gotta rent a car.
I find one. my dad says he's gonna pay for it. love you my man. alright, let me put in your credit card info and we're good to go.
saturday I shit my soul again. "It's okay", I say, "this time you really were dressed too lightly" I say. I'm not gonna be sick at the spa, I'm not gonna reschedule again.
in the meantime, my mom gets paranoia. "too many things went wrong" she says, "you shouldn't leave. you didn't get a virus, it's probably a bacteria in the water. and you're going to thermal baths. it's going to be bad. don't go. please" I say MOTHER I AM BEGGING YOU DO NOT GIVE ME MORE ANXIETY
it's sunday now. let's go get this rented car and let's go to the hotel. my dad takes me to the rental place. I get checked in, everything goes okay. can't wait to try a new car! it's going to be so fun.
"we need the credit card of the main driver" the lady says. gurl. I don't have a credit card, I have a debit card. my dad says "use mine", the lady says "no it has to be registered to the main driver. it's in our terms and conditions" aw fuck! I'm an idiot! funny thing is, not only did I not read the terms and conditions, I didn't even know my card was a debit card. I thought it was credit. good day! good brain. adult.
fuck.
"I can give you a manual car, that way we won't need a card" girl I can't even keep queen's we will rock you beat, you think I'm capable of driving manual? no! I'm an idiot! I got the notif of when neil gaiman reblogged one of my posts tattooed on my body forever! I'm an impulsive idiot!!!!! I can't drive manual!!!!!!!
so we call the call center to cancel the booking. it takes 15 minutes. my anxiety attack is worsening. we manage to cancel it and get our money back, but now we need to find a new place to rent a car. thank god my dad didn't just drop me off and drive away. I'm holding his hand as he tells me it's all gonna be okay.
we find a new place to rent a car. they have a cool car and it's automatic. they accept debit cards. thank god. "you gotta pay for insurance, if nothing happens to the car we'll give it back to you when you get back" alright cool.
payment doesn't go through. ahah it's okay it happens sometimes let's try again.
payment doesn't go through. let's try actually inserting the card shall we
payment doesn't go through.
at this point I'm in full anxiety attack. what did I do. why doesn't the universe want me to go on this vacation. I have the money, I know I do, why isn't it going through? I am a failure.
"listen I'm going to make an exception and let your dad pay even if the card isn't in your name"
oh. oh lady. you gave me a "oh. oh." fanfic moment. absolute unit of a queen. total rebel. friend shaped. saint among mortals.
I finally get the fucking keys to the fucking car. I hug my dad, put on my playlist, fall in love with the car, call my dad to say "if you ever want to change cars consider this one". I work for Volkswagen now.
I get to the hotel. so beautiful. there's an old doggo at the entrance, she's gorgeous and fluffy and fun and lets me pet her belly. I find out it's actually the hotel's doggo. blessed place!!!!!
go to the receptionist, tell them my name and everything. they can't find me.
they can't. fucking. find me.
I don't even have the will to get anxious anymore. I'm just. done. it makes sense, I think. murphy's law hit me with a car, put it in reverse, ran me over another time and a few more times after that.
I am as tired as the senior doggo at the entrance is. I see the pool from the reception. I ache. there are four people at the reception now trying to find my fucking name in their servers.
"don't worry" they say, "we have availability, we just can't understand what happened"
I don't know whether to cry or cry at this point. they talk between themselves for a bit, they give me a coffee, I make small talk and laugh at the situation with them.
"to make up for the mistake we upgraded your original room for a better one at the same price" oh my sweet darlings
they give me my keys. I get to the room.
I fall on the bed.
war is over.
I close my eyes.
I'm still extremely paranoid. something bad is going to happen again, I can sense it. can't quite place it, I just feel it lurking around. I'm supposed to start relaxing, why do I feel like something is getting ready to attack me?
"Ah porcodio" I say, "succession ends tonight."

what do you want people to do, not vote for her? you get harris or trump. it sucks but that's reality. the american experiment will keep breathing no matter who is steering the ship, and i don't think it's impossible that many people in the global south - who do not have the privilege of american citizenship, and who do not have the privilege of getting to vote in the american election, but will STILL be affected by its outcome - would prefer harris to trump. a trump presidency is not gonna usher in some great revolution and it's not gonna topple the empire, not while rich people have profit at stake. it's gonna make people exhausted and disenfranchised and POWERLESS, incapable of rallying and effecting change. people around the world are counting on american citizens to keep that guy out of office. do you really think kamala harris is gonna be worse for ukraine or palestine than donald trump? it sucks, i know it sucks, but people asking americans to vote for kamala harris aren't being pro-genocide or short-sighted, they're thinking of the long run and the bigger picture. it may not FEEL good to vote harris - it doesn't FEEL good to donate to palestinians when you know your cash is gonna end up in the pockets of the people at the border who are exploiting them - but part of being an adult and a responsible citizen is sucking it up and doing what you have to do even when you don't want to, because other people need you to. i am aware that as an american with the right to sway the election results i have a HUGE amount of privilege over the people that the american empire oppresses - why would anyone throw that power away? if our vote - for kamala harris - didn't matter SO much, republicans and facists wouldn't be trying so hard to convince us not to cast it. please don't be fooled by propaganda, and please don't forget perfect is the enemy of good. by turning people off from harris as a candidate, you're practically doing the republican party's work for them.
When did I say don’t vote for harris? I made an observation that this country is so fascistic that we are forced to gleefully vote for someone who is carrying out an ethnic cleansing campaign, and your response was… don’t criticize Harris lest Trump wins. Do you see where the problem is? Do you see where we’ve lost?
Does me pointing out that every American president in the past 3 decades has overseen a mass slaughter really offend you? Or is it just that I’m pointing out we should see that as a problem, and not just another “cost” of “freedom”?
This isn’t a 2024 issue. This is a “we are actively carrying out the evils we were warned of in the history books, and this forsaken nation is now marching towards its bitter end” issue. Project 2025 doesn’t magically go away in 2026. No, what we must reckon with are that half of this country are willing to support those policies, and the other half will decry them while systematically exploiting and slaughtering entire populations abroad- populations who they have taught the governed are worth less than 2 dollars off their groceries.
Do you understand that Kamala has changed her platform to be pro-fracking, that she believes trans people should follow the “rule of law” regarding access to necessary care, that she has platformed herself with the same law and order rhetoric that liberals decried Trump for? Because she knows she can get away with it. Because people so fear Trump that they do not care- will not speak up. Because she is too busy promising to add republicans to her cabinet, parading around Liz Cheney, and drafting her plan to fortify the border wall. Because she takes liberal votes as a given, thus she now panders her policies to those she isn’t sure of. But not the “left”. Never the “left”.
You cannot blame the Palestinian-Americans whose families have been murdered by this woman that they refuse to write her name on a ballot. You can only blame her unwillingness to promise a full arms embargo on Israel and materially support the Palestinian right to self determination. She has not earned their vote. That is how democracy works. And if you believe otherwise, well, take a look around at the system we have been forced into and reread my initial post. That is the problem.
And we are told that criticism is dangerous. We are told to applaud from in front of our TVs as our democratic representatives give Netanyahu his 18th standing ovation- and take it. We are told by Harris herself that the fate of the Palestinian people must be sealed in the name of American grocery prices.

So long as folks are civil and genuine, I'm always down for differing perspectives
I got the impression from what the show told me, it's always from the show or the writers commentary.
I won't be taking creator commentary into consideration here since a) death of the author is my bread and butter, and b) I haven't heard them yet (though I absolutely need to, so thanks for reminding me).
All he told them was that they had to destroy a tower and that there'd be robot opposition which is why the mechs and the bombs were needed.
I can't find this dialogue, so would you mind pointing out where this happens?
Ooblek literally has to inform team RWBY why mountain Glenn is dangerous, literally says it isn't common knowledge
During the helicopter ride to Mt Glenn in V2C9, Oobleck says, "[the southeast quadrant] is also the location to one of the kingdom's greatest failures," which Ruby names as Mt Glenn and Yang continues, "That's right! It was an expansion of Vale but then it was overrun by grimm and fenced off from the rest of the city." Vale's greatest failure seems to be common knowledge, though I will cede that grisly specifics like the grimm caves in the subway system are possibly lesser known
Yeah it's a popular saying from rich white idiots who don't like when the disenfranchised and marginalized people don't like them making money off their suffering, murdering them and stealing food out of people's mouths. This is the mindset of a fool
I'm gonna be honest, I have no idea what you're talking about here. The saying is sound since the cause and who carries it out will affect how a person reacts to these kinds of actions. You and I will likely agree that the Black Panthers and the folks opposing cop city over in Atlanta are freedom fighters, but to the people defending and benefiting from the status quo, they're terrorists (even though the worst the cop city activists have done is throw rocks at a truck. Very fear, many terrorism)
And the overall problem with this take is that RWBY's world is worse than our own. Humans hunted faunus, pushed them out of human settlements, places that faunus build were taken over- they were murdered consistently and yet no one ever wants to name the many humans who did it or the slave owners with attack robots terrorist.
I don't understand what take I made with a definition nor will I agree with the idea that Remnant's history is worse than our own since all the things you listed are things that humanity has done to itself for millennia. This is a bit semantic but the reason people aren't calling slave owners or settlers terrorists is because they fall in line with imperial colonialism moreso than terrorism, so human supremacists and colonizers are more appropriate terms. Fear and violence are still a major part of those things, but not wielded the same way
Also britannic? the people who stole most of the resources of POC states and locations and killed many of them? We're trying to use their viewpoints on nonviolence?
Are you mistaking Britannica, the online encyclopedia founded in Scotland during the 18th century, with Britain, the former empire that colonized all but 33 countries in the entire world? Britannica, as far as I'm aware, did not steal or kill any POC nor was the article linked about nonviolence
Structures Vale's society, bro the writers don't even know what they do, they aren't even trying to fix them.
The writers having zero world building skills does not negate the fact that these elements do exist, however shallow, and are meant to have significance to society
"Actively attacking fleeing students and civilians" Only Adam does that, we don't see any background white fang attacking humans during the breach.
It's extremely blink-and-miss but a Fang does attack Yang while she's looking for Blake
Then in V4C5, Blake says, "The White Fang was at the fall of Beacon. They attacked innocent civilians, and they released grimm into the school."
The White Fang attacking people at Beacon is canon
they state that the faunus that were in the white fang to steal and not murder and that it was going to far quit and left to run away after Cinder took over the faction
Tukson's reason for running is never stated but it certainly wasn't because of killing. According to Weiss in V1C11, "...[the White Fang] have been at war with my family for years... ever since I was a child, I watched family friends disappear, board members executed...," so even pre-Cinder the Fang was willing to bloody its hands
Remnant is such a garbage world filled with horribly awful humans that it's hard to empathize with anyone when our heroes see racism happen and just stare and blink like idiots.
I agree that this is a massive problem with the writing, but I don't see how it's relevant to the question of whether the White Fang should be considered terrorists
they do seem like a hivemind, which is why again I don't count the faunus as terrorist because you can't consent if you're a nonexistent mouthpiece.
???
Illia like Adam seems less interested in equality... and more in punishing blake for the writers *looks at paper* "Being a bi girl into an adult man and not dating her so she wanted to kill her parents as revenge and then maybe she'd see her."
Ilia was not interested in punishing Blake. She tried to warn Blake away multiple times throughout V4 and 5. Nor was killing the Belladonnas part of any love-fueled revenge scheme. She's clearly hesitant to do it (see her backing away and stuttering in V5C5) and only goes through with the plan because she's convinced that the Belladonnas stand in the way of actual progress
V5C8 Ilia, looking away: We all have to make sacrifices for the greater good. No matter how much it hurts Blake: And you think killing me is really for the greater good? Ilia: No. But getting rid of your family is
But once again, I ask the relevancy of this to the topic at hand
realistically speaking, you're right it doesn't absove them- except they're dead
The ones involved with the Mt Glenn operation are, but the rest of the Fang are still alive and up to their own operations. Also death doesn't suddenly erase any and all harm done. If it did, no one would be using Ronald Reagan's grave as a gender neutral toilet
And the white fang are the terrorist? seems to me the humans in remnant aren't WORTH saving.
We aren't discussing if Remnant is worth saving or how the humans are worse. The question is: does the label of terrorist apply to the White Fang?
Whether they're being manipulated into it or not, even if their goal of faunus liberation is an objectively good one, the result remains the same: indiscriminate chaos, destruction, and death that spreads fear to the public at large in the name of a political agenda
Aka terrorism
Weiss's line "Not every story has a neat and tidy ending" is an absolutely buckwild thing to say to someone freaking out about how they don't know what the true goal of the people who just let loose a horde of grimm on a civilian city
Girl, this ain't about a messy ending to a fictional tale, this is about a terrorist attack wtf!!!

@infernocharged
Red. That was all she could see. The pure white stone of the throne room was.. red. Moments ago, the most prestigious of the Celestial Kingdom had gathered there to pay respects to their new King. And it was their new King who condemned them all to death. She understood why she had been given the order to remain in her room, and how she regretting deliberately ignoring it now. But how could she not? A coronation was meant to be a great celebration from the throne room down to the city below, she was rather affronted when she was told not to take part of it.
But she understood why.. now. This wasn’t meant to be a celebration.. it was meant to be a massacre.
The fear left her frozen to the spot just behind the furthest marble column, but even here, the pool of blood collecting on the floor had reached her. Everyone was dead.. and he had commanded it to happen. The words stuck into her mind like ice, chilling her from the inside. “Then, die.”
How was this the same person she had known all this time? A man so hell-bent on saving others, to keep the peace between Celestial and Demon. A man who only saw the good in others even through the years of war. Now he stood in front of the throne, and in all his regal splendor his first command.. was death.
There had been a pain inside her for so long that had started to fade, but now seemed to return tenfold. Like sharp glass being driven through her own heart. What was she meant to think now? She hadn’t realized her legs had given out from under her and she had sunk to the floor, no longer hidden by the column. Slipping Away
Jason Todd x reader
warnings: shot description of jason’s face industries
a/n: no this is not an oc idea im basing this off of not at all nope nah nope. (it might be. okay it is. it’s titans!leila but more emotional and less angry)
prompt: @captainshazamerica: “Aihosvakvsi Lacey I'm so sorry, I'm a dumbass cause I swear i read the pinned post and re read the rules but apparently I cant read😅😅😅🤦🏻♀️okay, SO xD Can I have a oneshot of being the close younger sibling of Titans Jason Todd and seeing him go through, you know, everything(😅)(like current red hood arc) and reader being real conflicted cause she is super close with jason and hates seeing him go through this but obviously doesnt approve. and with hurt/comfort if possible?(and/or angst with a hapoy/fluff ending?) Thanks so much! Hope you are having a good week!”
Now that everyone was back in Gotham, it was officially time to get to the bottom of this mess. Wayne Manor was bleak—er than usual. And it all started when Jason, the boy that was practically your brother by now, was brutally murdered by your father’s arch nemesis. A hell of a way to go, and not one unfamiliar to the citizens of Gotham City.
You were struggling during this whole mess and things only seemed to get more difficult. More heart-wrenching and sick. Every breath you took set off another cruel, confusing event for you and your family, both Bat and Titan, to investigate and take care of.
And it all started because you weren’t there. Just a night off so you could enjoy your city for what it was instead of lurking on rooftops and stalking potential troublemakers. Jason needed space, you needed fresh air. Perfect trade off. “Call me if you need anything, Jay. I mean it.” You told him while gathering your things near the exit of the garage, about to pick one of many keys belonging to one of many cars.
“I probably won’t. Benched, remember?” Jason gave you a passive-aggressive reminder of his current stance with Bruce and you rolled your eyes. “Oh, come on, y/n. It’s not fair! You’re still allowed to go out in a suit and throw bad guys in jail!”
“He’ll come around eventually.” You patted Jason on the shoulder. “Bruce is just…he’s weird. I mean, he dresses like a bat to fight crime, you know he has problems.” You chuckled to yourself, but your brother was not in the mood. “Listen, Jason. You haven’t been yourself in a while, he’s just looking out for you.”
“Bullshit!” Jason threw your arm away from his shoulder and backed up, causing you to raise your eyebrows in surprise. “You and Dick never get scolded like I do. I got sent away to San Francisco because I needed to be ‘corrected.’ And it was the worst mistake of my life.” He shouted at you and you began to walk away. “You don’t want to admit it, but Bruce hates me and loves you!” His voice echoed through the garage.
“Have it your way, Jason.” You waved him off and stepped into your chosen vehicle. Just before you slammed the door, you spoke your last words to him. “I really hope you stop focusing on Robin and start focusing on yourself or else you’re gonna end up dead.”
It wasn’t until later that night you’d regret those words, the moment you got a news alert from your phone just after parking your car. The headline: Joker’s Last Laugh: Clown Surrenders After Bludgeoning Batman’s Sidekick Robin. You read the title over and over until your phone began to ring, it was Barbara Gordon herself. You knew what was coming and you burst into tears just before answering the phone.
“Y/N? Y/N…you heard already.” She heard you crying to the point where you could barely speak. “He’s here, and Bruce is going to be here soon. Come to GCPD, I’m here for you.” Barbara assured and you hummed an “okay” before hanging up and hyperventilating behind the wheel. Your mind was just racing with questions.
Why did he do this? Why didn’t he call you? How did it happen? Why did the Joker surrender? Should you pay a visit to Arkham? Should you call Dick?
“Dick…” You mumbled, sniffling thickly and lifting up your phone to call him. But you hesitated. You couldn’t bare to talk to anyone else about this right now and threw your phone aside. “Later.” While still shaking from pure shock, you started your car and drove to GCPD. By the time you got there Bruce had just landed, so it was just you and Babs. You silently walked down the hall to the morgue, arms crossed and hands squeezing them to the point of bruising. You weren’t ready to see him, but you couldn’t refrain. The coroner unzipped the bag slowly, making seconds feel like hours. Barbara reached out for your hand and grasped it tightly as you laid eyes on him and gasped.
“I know, I know.” She whispered to you as you broke down once again. “We have Joker, we’re gonna make him pay.”
“Pay?” You took your hand away. “He’s never going to pay! It’s the same story over and over! He murders, you throw him in Arkham, he schemes, breaks out, and murders again!” You snapped at her in the coroner’s company. Barbara peered over at him awkwardly.
“Could you give us a minute, Eddie?” She requested and he nodded, promptly exiting the uncomfortable scene and shutting the door behind him. “Y/N, it’s really all that we can do. He’s clinically insane, practically untouchable by the law. And Bruce…he wouldn’t…”
“But I would.” You stared at Jason’s broken face, exposed skull. “I was taught to do so, maybe I should.” Barbara took you by the hand again, much more aggressively.
“You aren’t an assassin anymore, y/n. Do not stoop back down to your mother’s level.” She warned and you looked back over to Jason, knowing what he would have wanted. Just before you could say anything, the door swung open. “Bruce…”
“Dad.” You gulped and he said nothing, just walked forward and stared at Jason. Your brother, his son, Gotham’s Robin. “Dad, I’m sorry. I don’t know why he didn’t call me, I would have stopped him. I’m sorry.” You began to beg for forgiveness, but he was in no mood to speak to you or anyone else, for that matter. Growing frustrated, you stormed out of the room and decided it was time to call Dick. You were shaking again, missing the right buttons on your phone. Once it started ringing, you didn’t know what to say.
“Hey, y/n. What’s up?” Dick answered.
“You haven’t seen the news yet.” You observed out loud.
“What? What do you mean.” He waited for you to respond during a long pause. “Y/N?”
“Jason—” You thought you’d make it through the sentence, but even speaking his name felt like you failed him. “Jason’s dead.” The line went silent. “It was Joker. I don’t know what happened, we’re at the morgue right now, Bruce just landed half an hour ago. I don’t think he’s okay. Dick, please come home.” You began begging another quiet family member and heard him start shuffling around.
“I’m on my way.”
—————
The funeral happened before Dick even got home. Bruce was more distant than usual. You felt alone.
One thing after another, Bruce lost his mind. You woke up to one more person missing from their bed and Dick, he had to call in the Titans.
You were both relieved and furious that the Joker was dead. You’d been a killer before, you could have done it again for the right reasons. But your father, he was off the deep end and now missing. You should have been the one to do it. Just another thing to blame yourself for. So you decided to sit out on the Bat thing, just for the night. You had backup, so it gave you time to recuperate.
But that just wasn’t the end of it, because when the Titans came back from their night of wonders, Dick had to pull you aside and tell you disturbing news.
“Y/N, hey, sit down with me for a second.” Dick asked you, pulling out one of the Batcave chairs while the other Titans stood nearby, waiting for your reaction. “Tonight we ran into another Red Hood terrorizing Gotham.”
“Yeah,” you adjusted yourself in the seat, “what about him? Joker sparked another comeback?” You turned around to see all of your colleagues intently staring.
“Something like that.” Dick sighed and kneeled down in front of you. “It was Jason. He’s alive.”
“No, he’s not.” You quickly replied. “He’s not, I saw his body. Bruce buried him. He’s gone.” You began to panic inside.
“Did you see Bruce bury him. Did you see him in the casket?” Dick questioned and you just stared at him with watering eyes and a quivering lip. He nodded and opened his arms. “Come here.” You fell into them and began sobbing once more. You felt so weak and tired from the amount you cried, but you’d never experienced such a devastating loss. You didn’t know how to cope losing a brother, one so close to you. You couldn’t process his death, let alone coming back. Dick rubbed your back for a moment and assured you, “We’re going to figure this out.”
“Y/N, come on,” Kory softly said with her hand on your shoulder, “let’s go back upstairs. All of us. After tonight, we all need some rest. We’ll figure everything out in the morning.” You wiped your tears on your sleeve and agreed, feeling all eyes on you as you left the cave with her. “You okay?”
“Not really.” You laughed. “Not everyday your brother dies, your dad becomes a murderer and disappears, and your brother comes back as a terrorist.”
“Yeah, you Bats never seem to get a break.” She wrapped her arm around your should. “But the Titans are here for you one hundred percent. Anything you need.”
“Thanks, Kory.”
—————
Dick knocked on your door first thing the next morning, slowly letting himself in. “Hey, Gar’s making breakfast for everyone. You okay to come down?” He asked while walking to your bed. “As soon as we finish we can start looking into the Jason thing, okay? Did you get any sleep last night?”
“Not really.” You laid on your pillow and looked up at him. “And I doubt you did, either.” Dick sort of smiled at that, but before he could think of something to say, there was a large crash in the kitchen and a series of overlapping shouting.
“It’s fine, I got it!” Conner yelled and you assumed everything was cleaned up in a moment’s time. It actually got you to smile.
“Okay, I’ll have breakfast with you.” You pushed the covers off of yourself and walked with your brother through Wayne Manor, although it didn’t feel much like Wayne Manor anymore. It was much brighter with the Titans roaming the halls.
“Y/N, Dick told me what your favorite was!” Gar held up a plate of breakfast foods and smiled widely, exposing what sort of looked like fangs. “Still hot.”
“Thanks, Gar.” You smiled weakly back and took the plate, sitting with the rest of the Titans who tried their best not to stare at you, but they were worried. They really were, but they let you eat in peace while having light conversations around you. There was something about their presence that calmed you, there was less tiptoeing around the Manor, especially since Alfred passed. You continued clearing your plate and your spot and walked down to the Batcave without another word.
“Are they okay?” Conner asked Dick and everyone looked over at him, who knew you best. Dick gave them a very forced smirk and nodded.
“They will be. They just need some time to process this.” Dick began to clean his own spot at the table, too. “I know y/n’s had their fair share of loss, but their grieving process…it was tattered when they lived with their mom and grandfather.” He explained, piquing the Titans interest. They knew you, had fought alongside you, but you still chose to keep some things to yourself.
“Are their mother and grandfather people we would know of?” Gar inquired.
“Ever hear of the League of Assassins?” Dick answered his question with another and Gar’s jaw fell a bit. Dick then made his way to the cave to meet you, with the rest of his team following loosely behind. They found you replaying the security footage from the Titan’s encounter last night, trying your best to zoom in on Red Hood and evaluate his movements.
“How is he back?” Conner asked the big question. “I mean, y/n, you saw him, right? After the…the Joker.” You didn’t look away from the replay, but answered him honestly.
“His face was bashed in. Bone exposed. Brain, too. But his face here, I mean, it isn’t much to go off of, but I don’t see any cavities in his facial structure at all. He…looks…fine.” As you explained it to them, you began to realize just what you were saying. The other Titans thought you were beginning to lose your grip again and backed away, but you were trying to evaluate just how possible your idea was. “Fuck!” You shouted, slamming your hands on the computer and rushing up the stairs. Everyone jumped as a reaction and a few followed suit.
“Y/N? What’s wrong, are you okay? Talk to us!” Kory tried to console you, but no one knew why exactly you had began this little rampage. Once you got to your room, you crawled underneath your bed to pull out a large case full of some al Ghūl heirlooms. Among those were weapons, robes, and several papers, scrolls, maps. One map contained locations of known Lazarus Pits in the United States, “just in case you need it,” Ra’s said to you some time ago.
“What is that? A map of what? I can’t read Arabic.” Dick looked over your shoulder, analyzing the map as best as he could.
“Lazarus.” You whispered and Dick’s eyes went wide.
“You don’t really think that’s what this is, do you?” Dick asked you, hand on your shoulder as the others stared in confusion.
“Dad told me to check all these locations a while ago, but I never got around to it. I didn’t think I’d need to. But it makes sense, Dick. Everything about it does.” You explained to him, along with the rest of the team.
“Meaning?” Gar chimed in hoping to get something more from this, but the only person in this room who knew the full effects of the Put was you, and you were now terrified.
“It’s worse than we thought.” You shoved the case back under your bed and ran back to the cave, leaving everyone with a very disturbing sort of idea in their heads as they tried to understand what you meant. You began to cross reference the map locations with the morgue and quickly found your answer. The Titans and you learned of a Pit below GCPD.
“Can you please explain to us what exactly this Pit does and why it’s so worrying?” Kory requested and you felt your chest begin to grow tighter. It pained you to know that Jason was out there alone somewhere with the effects of Lazarus.
“My…My mom’s side of the family—specifically my grandfather—had found Lazarus pits some years ago. Their like enchanted pools, he used them to keep himself young because they have these certain healing properties.” You nervously explained, uncovering some unsavory memories. “The only thing is that there are side effects to them. It messes with your mind, and the more serious the injury…the worse the effect is…and…”
“You don’t have to go on if you don’t want to, y/n. It’s okay.” Dick tried to stop you, but you wanted to be more open with the team. The Titans were on the edge of their seats.
“No, it’s okay. I need them to know how dangerous this situation is.” You assured him and continued. “My grandfather kept himself alive for centuries with them, but each time he came out, he seemed to lose it for a bit. And I…I had used it once. There was a traitor among our ranks when I was much younger. He, uh, he stabbed me through the chest and my mother threw me into the Pit. It was a feeling I’ll never forget, and my mind…I wasn’t ready for it. For weeks I was extremely unstable and the psychological turmoil haunts me to this day.” You finished your story and saw pity in their eyes, making you wish that the story wasn’t even true.
“You only described injuries, though. Have you ever seen someone get resurrected?” Conner asked and you tensed up.
“No, but it’s not impossible. That’s what worries me,” you looked back at images of the new Jason, “who knows how messed up his brain is of he was healed from death.”
—————
Days went by and tragedy struck again and again, all by the fault of Jason Todd. But the thing is that you didn’t really believe it was Jason in there. It was Lazarus, or Scarecrow, the drugs, something else. It was not Jason. You and Gar had agreed on that much and he became a shoulder to lean on, but the others weren’t as patient with him. They needed to take him down.
“No, you guys don’t understand. He doesn’t need to be brought down, he needs help.” You pleaded with the team, trying your best to get them to see that he was still one of you, but the death of Hank shook their faith too hard.
“Y/N, he’s dangerous. I know you love him, we all did. But that’s not Jason anymore.” Kory approached with a soft voice and tried to get you to see things their way, but you saw things Jason’s way. What he was doing was wrong, but he could still be saved from it. He’d never be the same, but you’d do anything to help him. You’d want them to do the same.
“I refuse to give up on him.” You pushed her hands off of you and stormed down to the Batcave taking off on one of your motorcycles. Fortunately, you’d kept a secret from the rest of your team. Jason’s tracker was still online, you’d realized that a few days ago and had been keeping tabs on Jason and Crane, spotting them on warehouse cameras and such. The only problem is that the signal could sometimes be blocked. But it was a start, and right now, it seemed that Jason was alone.
“Y/N? Where are you going?” Gar said over your comms.
“I’m taking care of shit.” You answered and turned your earpiece off before peeling out and searching for your brother. He was just walking the street when you found him, completely alone and seemingly upset. You pulled up beside him and flipped your helmet up. “Jason?” You asked and he continued walking, so you walked your bike alongside him. “Jason? Can you hear me?”
“Go away.” He growled, shoving his hands in his pockets. You sighed and hopped off the motorcycle, turning on its security measures and catching up to your brother. “I said go away. I don’t want any more trouble.”
“I know you don’t.” You stopped in front of him and tried to look him in the eyes, they told a story. Bloodshot, dark circles, pupils normal. The effects of the Lazarus Pit had worn off, but he was exhausted. “I don’t want any trouble either. I just want my brother back.”
“You can’t, he’s gone.” He nearly got lost walking through a crowd of people, but you wouldn’t let him get away that easily. He veered off into a parking garage and you ran in with him.
“I know what you’ve been through.” You called after him, hearing your voice echo. “But I can’t talk to you here.”
“Then don’t.” He bluntly replied. You grabbed him by the arm and he willfully stopped.
“When’s the last time you ate?” You asked him and he stayed silent, looking away from your eyes. “Come on, we can go get some fast food and go to my apartment in the city. No one else knows about it.” Your hand trailed down his arms to his own hand. “You’re still my brother. I don’t like what you’ve done, but I know what led you to do it.” You began to walk and he walked beside you, letting you lead him down the street and back to your motorcycle. After about fifteen minutes, you’d obtained two bags full of food. Burgers, fries, drinks, and such, whatever he wanted, you could tell he was starving. It was a hassle being able to hold it tight on the bike, but you guys were pretty resourceful.
“The others are mad at me, aren’t they?” Jason asked you as you parked your bike and grabbed your share of the food. You sighed and grabbed the keys from your pocket.
“Some of them are. But I think they’re just really worried about you and the path you’re going down.” There was a long period of silence between the ground floor and your apartment on the fourth. You let him into the cozy little “safehouse” you’d made for yourself to get out of the Manor. “I know it was the Lazarus Pit.”
“I figured. Takes one to know one.” He sat down at the barstool near your kitchen and ripped into the bag, starting to eat his food like an animal.
“What I don’t get is why you turned to Crane in the first place.” You explained to him, sitting by his side. “He gave you drugs and marketed them as an out and you took the bait. You’re a Robin, what made you think that was a good idea?”
“I was a Robin.” He corrected quickly. “And I needed…I needed something. Something that was going to stop the nightmares, the flashbacks. I needed to get away from what was left of SF.”
“You needed help, Jason. You could have come to me.” You reminded him without cornering him. “And Scarecrow, he’s manipulative, you knew that when you went to him. That led you to become a terrorist, a murderer. That’s never going to go away.”
“Are you speaking from experience?” Jason grabbed his drink, giving you an antagonist little look and seemed to be reverting to his former self. It gave you a bit of relief to see him in a better mood.
“You know how my grandfather treated me.” You answered with a hint of regret in your voice as you remembered your time with the League. “I was a weapon to him, nothing more. When Bruce found out the truth he rescued me from them. If I remember correctly, Bruce saved you from a rough situation, too.”
“You’re still a weapon.” He reminded you. “And he left me in the dust. I died, y/n. Where did Bruce go? I don’t see him here now.” Jason began to get irritated.
“Bruce snapped and murdered the Joker. No one knows where the hell he is right now.” You revealed and Jason’s face dropped.
“That was Bruce?” You watched Jason look away from you and stare off for a moment, looking at all the decor in your apartment. Pictures of you and your family on the walls, little decorations and hidden weapons only he could spot from a mile away. “What did the others do?”
“Forgot about him. He’s a grown man with a lit of problems that are too late to solve. No one knows how to help him.” Your voice wavered as you wondered if you’d ever see your dad again. “You’re still worth fighting for. And I know what you felt being thrown into that Pit. Being resurrected is traumatic.”
“When do the nightmares go away?” Jason asked you about your own experiences.
“A couple weeks.” You assured. “I know it’s hard, but you’ll get through it.”
“Yeah, sure,” he whispered, “can I take a shower?”

Shinigami Eyes (I)
Pairing: Corpse Husband / Reader
Summary: When you’re paired up with Corpse as imposters in a game of Among Us, you seem to somehow apprehend each others strategies even though it’s the first time you’ve ever played together. He appreciates a good impostor.
Notes: I know I still have many fics I need to finish, but I just wanted to throw out a quick Corpse one because sad to say I’ve been simping for him too. By the way, this is my interpretation of him and this is just for fun. Also, I haven’t written for second person in a while, so I’m sorry if this sucks.
TAG LIST CLOSED!
Shinigami Eyes - Oneshot
“Hey, I wanted to invite Corpse,” Sean said right as the Among Us theme started playing on your computer.
“Great vooooice,” Grease called out.
“Oh, I haven’t played with him before,” you said. It was true, but you’d heard of his legendary voice before and your viewers had been asking for him. You’d only allow it because No Simp September was over. Chat was already going mad.
“You’ll love him. Unless he murders you, because he’s a great imposter,” Sean replies. “He’s too good,” Felix adds.
After a moment, you heard the familiar noise of someone joining the Discord. “Hello everyone,” a deep rumble greeted. The group all said their welcomes, while you introduced yourself. “Very nice to meet you, Corpse,” you added. You didn’t want to comment on the obvious. He must hear it all the time. But you couldn’t deny it was like silk to your ears.
“Nice to meet you to. You make great vids.” A blush spread across your cheeks, “You shouldn’t say things like that, chat is already jealous.” He chuckled.

Impostor
Great, you’re instantly sweating. Thankfully, though, it seems you were lucky enough to have been teamed up with the king of lying himself. Corpse’s name is as bloodred as yours.
You decide to follow him after Toast and Sean, and think about how it was Sean who ironically invited the person who was going to murder him in just a few moments. All four of you were being decontaminated below lab, when Corpse made stepped a tad closer to him. You almost synchronically chopped their heads off, and you squealed in excitement. 2 down, 4 to go. As long as no one would find their bodies for a while, you still had time.
Next thing, you’re out of the South entrance and you’ve split up. You join Sykkuno in electric and just wait on him to do his task. Felix joins you afterwards in the next room. That’s when Toast’s body, and ultimately Sean’s, is reported.
Corpse had run back and self-reported.
“Corpse and I just ran into decontamination and found Sean and Toast,” Rae announced.
You were still muted. “Oh god, he’s playing a dangerous game.”
Sykkuno decided it would be the perfect time to call you out. “You and Felix only joined me a while later and decided to stay. Kinda sus of you.”
“No, she was with me at the beginning. I watched her do a task in office,” your fellow impostor vouched. They’d been right, he’s a damn good liar. He manages to hide any sliver of emotion in that deep baritone.
“I don’t trust Corpse anymore, he does stuff like this all the time when he’s impostor,” Lily noted.
“Stuff like what?” He huffed in amusement.
The group agreed the accusation made was a bit vague, and it had affectively directed the attention away from you and onto Felix. After another round of some serious investigating and threatening you all decided to skip.
“Corpse makes me feel less nervous about being an impostor,” you tell chat, “He seems so chill about it.” You ran down to Weapons, but decided against killing anyone when you found three people doing tasks there. You shoved yourself into the clump of bodies and waited until everyone had finished. Running back up to centre with both Lily and Rae, you felt restless that you would eventually have to kill one of them. You just hoped they wouldn’t take it personally.
Corpse ran past, alone. Your characters didn’t have eyes, but somehow they showed a mutual understanding. He killed Lily, you killed Rae. You sputtered and chortled and followed right on after him down into the venthole. He met you in the bathroom stall. “Cosy,” you joked. Until Grease walked in. “Oh, that’s awkward.” You realized you were still standing suspiciously over the venthole. “Shit.”
You didn’t know where Grease had gone, but your first instinct was to hit the red emergency meeting button in the Office. “Grease was in the bathroom stall hovering over a vent.” You may not have your fellow impostors emotionless tone, but you knew laughing through your accusation usually worked.
“Are you kidding me?! I just saw you and Corpse standing in there doing I don’t know what!” Grease yelled.
“That’s a bold statement. You know I’d never cheat on Sykkuno,” Corpse said. “Wait, what?” the man in question replied. Corpse ignored him.
“Corpse was with me when I found you there. On another note I don’t think I’ve ever seen two people vent at the same time before.” Two truths, technically.
“Alright, I’m voting Grease,” Felix said, “I’m sensing liar voice.”
Sykkuno suspected Grease and you, but promised he’d vote you out after if he was wrong. “We have to vote now,” you reminded them.
Grease was ejected.
You met Corpse again in laboratory, where only Felix was doing a task. No one moved. “Oh no, you may have the honours,” you gracefully called out to an unsuspecting impostor. He seemed to get the message through however, and swiftly killed Felix when the Kill button was set to press again.
Defeat.
“Oh my god, that was so stressful,” you cried out. Corpse chuckled, “Don’t worry, you did great.”
“Hey, don’t you dare steal him,” Sean threatened, “He’s my impostor mate!” You laughed.
“You murdered me and Lily almost synchronically,” Rae sputtered, to which Sean added, “Oh my god, same here. It was some nasty psychic shit.” “Corpse and I just have the Shinigami eyes,” you explained. You saw Corpse’s name flash in the top left corner, but only heard him exhale in amusement. It was cute.
5… 4… 3… 2… 1…
Impostor
“Oh… my… god.” Has this ever happened before in this game? Either way, no one will suspect both of you to be it again. You imagine he was feeling similarly, as he hadn’t moved from the spawn point yet. “How in the fuck…?” Chat was confused, but seemed to enjoy the spectacle.
You and corpse split up this time. Don’t use the same tactics twice.
You followed Felix and Sykkuno into Office and faked a task. They decided to wait for you, and you kept your eyes on the green bar until it moved. You travelled trough Admin and Decontamination until you met up with Lily in Labs. “Shit,” you murmured, “There’s too many people. I’m gonna look suspicious.”
Corpse showed up. Lily and Sykkuno left. You killed Felix. Toast walked in, and unfortunately at the hands of your teammate, he did become toast.
You ran in a circle around him and hoped it was enough of a hint for him to follow you. He picked up on it and followed you into the bathroom stall. But neither of you vented. You let a smile slip, almost forgetting you had a face cam. Awkwardly clearing your throat, you explained to your viewers in a very non-convincing way this was just a good impostor strategy. They’d do well to learn from it.
The bodies were reported instantly, and you cursed under your breath. Lily was the one who reported it. “So, I found Felix in Labs and there were only two other people in there before me and Sykkuno left.”
“I went down through Decontamination,” you explained, “I lost Corpse back at Labs.”
“I went back North, I passed you on the way there, Lily.”
Lily was sus of you. “What? Why?!” You asked. “Because I didn’t see anyone in Decontamination and there’s no way you could’ve gone through there that quickly. I wasn’t gone that long,” she said.
Well, shit. “Weren’t the lights off? You couldn’t possibly see me in Decontamination. I’m wondering why you walked back into Labs anyway, Lily.”
A series of ‘ooh’s were heard through the Discord call.
“But I was running up that hallway, I didn’t see you come out,” Grease suddenly spoke up.
“Why were you in there, Grease?” Corpse asked, but you knew it was already too late.
“I was running up to do my task in Labs. I didn’t see her come through the doors before the body was reported.”
“I wasn’t out of Decontamination yet,” you ground out. It was of no use, however. More than half of the people left voted you out, including Lily, Grease, Sean and Corpse, since he had an image to maintain as fake crewmember.
HeartEyes was ejected.
You decided, both out of your own interest and for content’s sake, to follow Corpse as a ghost. He seemed to be having the same trouble as you, suddenly being surrounded by a group of people. “That’s rough. He’s gonna have to kill five more people.”
That was when he bravely decided to take action. Sabotage the reactor, follow everyone there, jump into the lump of people trying to fix the problem and kill so no one would know who did it. He self-reported it in the blink of an eye.
The group was indeed confused, to say the least. Grease had died. “Wait, who was the last to come in?” Sean asked. “It was me,” Corpse admitted, “But I did the handprint scan because no one else was doing it. Weren’t you standing there doing that with Lily?” “Yeah, I had to wait because it wasn’t working.”
“What?!” Lily exclaimed, in only a way she could, “I was doing the scan! It was Sean, then!” The two suspects were starting a heavy discussion, whilst your eyes were trained on the red of Corpse’s name.
The group decided to vote out Lily, as she was the one to report the last murder.
“Is he just… Killing the people who voted for me?” you muttered. Shaking your head, you continued, “Nah, it has to be coincidence.”
But then a body was found, and Corpse said he suspected Sean again. Was he actually working down the list? “Is he avenging me? That’s so sweet, no one has ever done that for me before…” Just a video game, you had to remind yourself. It was just a video game you were playing with friends. And a man with a very nice voice who’d just murdered everyone who did you wrong. Just a game, yes.
Turns out, Corpse really knew how to put his voice to use, as Sean was ejected. He managed to kill Sykkuno and Dave after that, and the game was won by the imposters.
“AGAIN?!” Felix yelled, “How did you two get teamed up again?!” “That’s bullshit,” Sean laughed.
You smiled, as Corpse said, “Us Shinigami’s have to stick together.” It made you blush. “Thanks for avenging me, Corpse. That was very sweet of you.” He chuckled, “Any time. I don’t mind killing people when I have a good teammate.”
“Hey! I’m still here too, you know!” Sean yelled upset.
“It was really fun playing with you guys,” you said, stretching your arms. You’d already been streaming for three hours, it was time to go. Everyone said goodbye, but you didn’t hear Corpse. And you wished it hadn’t twisted your stomach in the way it did.
You wished your viewers a nice day, and promised to update them on Twitter when you’d be streaming next. You were done for the day.
Yet, as you’d closed all tabs and were about to close Discord, you got a call. It was private, and it was from Corpse.
“Hey, miss me already?” you jokingly said.
He chuckled quietly. He suddenly seemed a lot shyer now, being extracted from the group. “Nice game.”
“Yeah, you really know how to keep your emotions hidden. I was impressed, to say the least.”
“You were really good, too. I can appreciate a good imposter.”
You bit your lip. “Hm, I hope to see some more of that appreciation in the future. It was rather nice having someone avenge me.”
“I’d do it again any time. Hiding in the toilet was a good strategy, by the way.”
You snorted at that, “Not good enough, it seems. They voted me out.”
“Big mistake. Nobody kills my teammate.”
“Aww, did the Shinigami catch feelings for the human?”
He rumbled, “I thought you weren’t human?”
You didn’t comment on the fact that he’d failed to answer the original suggestion you’d made. “Touché.”
It was quiet for a moment, and you wondered if you’d crossed a line there and made the wrong assumptions about where the conversation was going. You quickly added, “Are you playing again this week?”
“Yeah, Sean said they’d stream again this Thursday.”
“I suppose I’ll see you there, then.”
He hummed. You sensed there was more to it, though. He hadn’t made any indication he wanted to end the call yet. But then he finally said, “I hope we get teamed up again. So you can get your own revenge.”
“I hope so too.”
***
Might do a follow up to this oneshot, if anyone asks for it. Will definitely create more for Corpse, he’s a lot of fun to write.

Two points that @theheightofdishonor made that have to be emphasized.
It's about how he's only willing to uphold standards and laws when they fit his needs.
It's not just threatening to pistol-whip high-school bullies. It's not just the 17 parking tickets. It's not just letting Theo go with a tender hug because Theo claimed to be protecting Stiles. These are just symptoms underlining that his dedication to the law is not actually dedication -- it's a tool to make himself feel better. He has no problem recruiting Scott to help resolve cases which cause him regret or make him uneasy, in contradiction of legal guidelines. He has no problem getting Melissa to grant him illegal access to medical records.
(As an aside, this is the essence of copaganda: the paradoxical idea that to uphold the law, sometimes you have to break the law. Yet only police get to decide when that happens.)
Think about Season 6B, when he insists he has to keep Jiang and Tierney in custody, regardless of the situation, because he has to follow the law. He has a clawed-up body, and that's murder, no matter who it is. And then not ten screen-minutes later, he's telling Scott "Because if you find yourself fighting a war, you're gonna have to kill people." He doesn't offer Scott any reassurance that if Scott kills in this fight, the Sheriff won't lock him up in accordance with that same law. Why the immediate contradiction? I'm not sure what the writers were going for, but as it appeared to me on the screen, the production indicated that if Scott had to become a criminal to secure the peace than that's a price that Noah Stilinski is more than willing to pay.
And that brings us to the second point:
Is Kira too not someone's child?
It should seem so, but in Teen Wolf only the Stilinskis get the privilege of breaking social norms in the name of family love with little consequence. Oh, yeah, Melissa slaps the shit out of him and they never have another conversation in the entire series, but that doesn't seem to bother Noah at all. "Kira was a mistake!" is the only admission that Noah makes.
And yet? Noshiko Yukimura, who while her tails are broken is still technically a nine-century old kitsune, is helpless to prevent a corrupt sheriff from sending her daughter (and then her husband) to jail. She will risk losing her daughter forever and fight Skin-walkers any day of the week, but she will never lift her hand against this hypocrite.
You notice that Melissa McCall fought Noah for Kira -- without ever having a conversation with Kira during the entire series -- but she won't fight for Scott? Think about how many scenes where Melissa says "our kids," "the boys," "people I care about" when talking about the dangers of Beacon Hills but never mentions her own son directly. Think about Season 4. She consented to the "Time of Death" plan without knowing the full details and didn't insist, after discovering the real risk, that he be resuscitated immediately. She didn't even have to be talked down. Imagine Sheriff Noah "Where the hell is my son?" Stilinski accepting that risk?
What's even more mind boggling is that Melissa seems completely uninterested in Scott's health as long as he has a pulse. After scolding Scott for keeping the Dead Pool money (about which the 25 million dollar bounty on her son she could have cared less), she vanishes for the last 80 screen-minutes of the season. And then at the beginning of 5B, she abandons her half-dead son at home to take care of Stiles and never checks on Scott's wound. Can you imagine the Sheriff doing that?
Then there's Rafael McCall, the FBI Agent who might be useful in an international kidnapping case. He certainly was useful in resolving the siege of the sheriff's station by throwing Scott and his pack under the bus. Can you imagine the Sheriff sending Stiles away to keep the peace?
There's Natalie Martin, turned into antagonist because she takes steps to protect her daughter who had been critically injured twice in two weeks. She's treated as misguided but she'll learn eventually to get out of the way, while the Sheriff gets to call the Border Patrol!
And above all, there's Victoria Argent. She's not that much different than the Sheriff. The Code forbids her actions against Scott but she (and we) can't ignore that Allison's relationship with Scott puts Allison in danger, no matter how unfair it is. So she breaks the Code to protect her daughter. The difference between her and the sheriff is that, as a female character, she has to die for it. /sarcasm (And don't give me the matter of degree -- the Sheriff may not have intended it, but his betrayal of the law by letting Theo go directly contributed to Scott nearly dying again as if the Sheriff had put the wolf's bane in the vaporizer himself.)
And that's my problem with the Sheriff.
Stiles is the sheriff’s son 😭 why would he protect kira in the same way as his literal child
it's about the hypocrisy in his absolute insistence that the law be upheld at all costs + refusal to evaluate the sitatuation vs how easily he disregards that same law just because it's his son. Is Kira too not someone's child? He's willing to see- or make, really- nuance in Stiles's situation with Donovan however refuses to allow Kira- a 17(?)year old who's his son's friend- even a fraction of leniency. It's about how he's only willing to uphold standards and laws when they fit his needs.
Like @princeescaluswords said once, he has no issue with asking Scott to track down an escapee from custody or interfering with a federal investigation or hypothetically destroying evidence to save Stiles but it's with Kira that he chooses to not relent? Come on now.
