would you rather kiss a man or a woman ?
I do have experience with both, due to a faked relationship for a case, which required kissing a woman unfortunately. And it was not a very pleasant experience, and I had to use all of my self control to not pull a face in disgust and to look happy and lovingly at her.
My only other experience would have been with John, and as that was bearable, I would conclude, although it is a very limited dataset and thus not an accurate scientific estimation, that a kiss with a man would be the preferable option. Of course this also all depends on the person in question, I would probably rather kiss a woman than the most disgusting and unhygienic man in London. But all in all I would rather kiss no one as it is a very unhygienic practice because it transfers 80 million bacteria between people. However the microbiome of humans that cohabitate are very familiar anyway due to the shared space and also mostly shared food, thus with John it would have less of an impact as our microbiomes would be similiar to begin with.

aw @ mycroft calling sherlock “my boy” like he's pleased with him enough to shed the uptight formality and address him more cordially

Is she in her Poirot era?
Dearest readers (and other users of Tumblr), you may know that I have dedicated some of my insomniac hours to listening to the Sherlock Holmes audiobooks and recounting the bizarre plot points. Yesterday evening, the Spotify algorithm decided to throw something new at me: the adventures of Hercule Poirot. Therefore, I have consumed the short story, "The Disappearance of Mr Davenheim" from the collection "Poirot Investigates", published in 1924. Here are my observations:
the dynamic between Poirot and Hastings is pretty similar to that of Holmes and Watson, in that both have a smartass and an everyman. Holmes seems fonder of Watson than Poirot is of Hastings
Holmes is perfectly happy to gallivant around Europe for various cases and visits Tibet at least once. Poirot takes great pride in the fact that he solves a case without leaving his armchair
Poirot talks about how difficult it is to disappear, especially when you're relatively famous and your family puts descriptions of you all over the newspapers. Two years after this story was published, Agatha Christie herself vanished and wasn't found for just under two weeks, despite fans searching and a fair amount of media attention. The coincidence is so notable that I assumed the book was written after Christie vanishes as a meta wink to her readers
Anyway, that's all I really picked up on. Any Poirot fans out there? Apparently the new Kenneth Branagh film is abysmal

I was thinking… You know how in detective movies and series like sherlock, poirot etc. Theyre always well known all around. Like everyone knows their name and who they are. But that got me thinking: I have never actually heard about a real life famous detective. Like a name you’ve heard alot on the news or anything? I dont know if I just coincidentally never heard of them or if thats just not a real thing.
Idk I just never thought about that fact while watching many of the genre. And was curious if that was just me or not XD

okay, i finished shiver - rode a little closer to the thriller half of the thriller-mystery spectrum, but a better read than i feared when reading the Painfully Straight earlier portions of the story
really hoping the next story on the list actually has a real locked room mystery, though, like please

Why don’t you and John have a few discussions about your and his sexuality’s!
Why should I talk with him about it? Although he is a doctor, that would make sense. But that has to wait until tomorrow because he fell asleep on me and the couch.

on the wings of that last post, it's really interesting to be a fan of a ship/character/headcanon as a work's ongoing, since it's weird to see how that changes as the work moves forward
