It's a special Watson-along!

CBS' new medical drama based on Dr. Watson from the Sherlock Holmes stories is launching with a special premiere event. This gives us the rare opportunity to have a watchalong for a live TV show that works across time zones!

The Watson premiere event will be on Sunday, January 26, following the AFC Championship Game across all continental US time zones. (That's approximately 10 pm EST / 7 pm PST, or later if the game goes into overtime.)

Tune in to your local CBS station or stream on Paramount+ (they have a free trial available) to watch the show, and join the live discussion in the #giantchat channel of our The Giant Chat of Sumatra Discord server to chat with the other folks who are watching.

❄️Baker Street Christmas Watchalong Friday 22/12!❄️

Me and @tremendousdetectivetheorist thought that we should have a little get-together this Christmas! On Friday at 19:00 GMT we will head over to 221B Baker Street for some Victorian holiday mystery solving, and anyone is welcome to join! We will begin the evening with Howard Holmes's "The Case of the Christmas Pudding" (~30 min), then move on to Granada's "The Blue Carbuncle" (~50 min), and then end with some carol singing from Holmes and Watson with good wishes!

When: Friday 22/12 at 19:00 London time (Time zone converter)

Where: Caracal.club (signup not necessary, but will allow you to display a user name!)

I will post a link in a reblog of this post when it's time! Hi everyone!

With the pandemic going on and mental health and loneliness being very difficult right now, I have decided to start two new groups:

1. A reading club, where we will read one Sherlock Holmes canon story every week and discuss it (we might alsi read short fics, the goal is to keep it to story that are 5-20 pages long at most)

2. A Watchalong club, where we will set appointments (either every week or biweekly depending on when people are available) to watch a Sherlock adaptation episode (BBC, Russian, etc) together and live chat

It’s been a while, let’s watch something gay!

Hey guys! It’s been a while since we last watched something together. This is terrible!! We could continue where we left off and watch TBB, or @thepersianslipper suggested Russian Holmes, which I haven’t seen so would be really interested to watch. I’d be able to host any ep of BBC Sherlock through netflix, and I think persian slipper can host Russian Holmes? So I’m throwing it out there - whatever you guys want!

I can’t do friday night this week, but saturday or thursday are options, if not maybe next week sometime? Reply on this post when you’re free and we’ll try and organise :) (as usual I will be replying as @morifartie because tumblr sucks...)

NOTE this story is META as hell and is very confusing. I'm a smart reader -- at least I think I am -- I had to read it more than once before I figured it out (although that was partly because I had never seen a livejournal page before).

So let me help a little:

in this story, John (jumperfucker) is a writer and LJ mod for a Sherlockian fangroup where BBC Sherlock doesn't exist, but where the fans do have ACD, Granada, and new RJ Downey/Jude Law to get excited about. Sherlock (consulting_detective) is the best damn fanartist.

John and Sherlock have been paired by the mods to write and illustrate a fic for "Holmes Big Bang".

They do not know each other in meat space, and both being quite private, neither have personal photos online to be recognizable. So you might guess this will be a setup for a meet-cute at the next Holmes con. Until the Professor meddles.

This fic is constructed of live-journal fan-forum posts, messages, gchat scrolling (yes, don't miss the scrolling!), excerpts of (nonpublished) fics being shared within the forum, Granada "watchalong" with "comments" ... and links and links and links to a whole world of created forum-participants' own web pages (lass_sirene; miss_toby), real world imdb, kinkmeme, holmeschat ... Most of the links that appear clickable are still working. (Since 2011, amazing!)

The reason I gave separate links to each part above is that the links to next part within the fic are difficult to notice between comments which are constructed as part of the fic and comments which are added by actual LJ users in the live comment section. Yeah, so it's just easier to have all section links in one place.

This story is completely fabulous. It has no counterpart, no rival.

The only regret is that you will never be able to see what fanart Sherlock drew for John's story :(

The Imminent Danger of a Tumblr-Night by Loveismyrevolution (T, 2,135 w., 1 Ch. || Tumblr Fics, Friends to Lovers, Sherlock is Out of His Depth, Humour, Fluff, Pining Sherlock, Military Kink, POV Sherlock) – Sherlock gets into trouble when he pretends to know all about John's favourite social media site - tumblr. To save face he seeks help from one of the bloggers and gains more answers than he had aimed for.

The Acronym by DancingGrimm (T, 15,057 w., 12 Ch.|| Humour) – "'Bee Ay Em Eff'. Hm, that's a new one on me. Do you know what it means, Sherlock?" John might not know what it means, but there are many little ways in which he proves the acronym suits him.
