Mobei Jun who doesn't understand why his Emperor is so in love with the cold bitch Shen Qingqiu, or why his little and cute husband seems to smile like a sun every time he sees him in the court.

So, he starts trying to understand what is so interesting about the man. He watches him do things, talk to servants... At first it's normal, even boring; then Shen Qingqiu has a heated conversation with some diplomats-cultivators about not disrespecting demon culture and wanting to change it just on a whim, he smiles warmly watching a puppy of a dangerous beast that apparently one of the kitchen servants has been secretly raising, and he has conversations with the court dancers about whether they are safe or getting well paid for staying so late at the parties that Luo Binghe is forced to throw for his guests.

Shen Qingqiu barely draws his sword, but when he does so to practice in the inner gardens, Mobei Jun only watches the display of a powerful martial movement gorgeous like that of a warrior and delicate like a dance.

And Mobei Jun spits out his viperous tongue, hostile to servants disrespectful to his Emperor, cruel to low-ranking demons who try to start uprisings. Shen Qingqiu has a string of flowery swear words and insults that would make a drunk blush. And if that's not enough, he has the ability to scold even high-ranking demons in the court as if he were a strict mother.

... Mobei Jun is beginning to see quite a bit of Shen Qingqiu's appeal. Well, he'll have to keep his distance. He's perhaps satisfied his curiosity too much already, and it's clear that his Emperor's wife is not taking secondary husbands; even if it is clear that he and his cute husband would be satisfied with a place in the Emperor's wife's harem, Mobei Jun is sure that this has never crossed Luo Binghe's mind, because otherwise they probably wouldn't be alive.

hear me out, svsss extras au where, some part after canon, when the original luo binghe shows up, shen qingqiu does go with him (whether forcefully or willingly) to the other world. of course, bingge being bingge he immediately starts planning a wedding and trying to take shen qingqiu to bed, but his spouse-to-be isn't having it. he has this thing called self-respect, you know!

so, shen qingqiu, trying to buy himself time, tells bingge he'll need to be properly courted first. after all, how can you marry a guy you just met? (frozen ref). bingge, though reluctantly, agrees.

and generally in my head it's a bit of a feel-good fic, in a way? at least before the angst begins. shen qingqiu is sweet and kind to bingge but strict and aloof enough to not be a different person entirely, and when shen qingqiu (teasingly) tells him to perform the qing jing sword drills, bingge blooms under the praise he's given when he performs them flawlessly, and there is something very calming about walking into shen qingqiu's suite and finding him curled up on the cushioned window sill with a blanket, a cup of tea and a book he's helplessly engrossed in.

in this au shen jiu is still alive, locked in the dungeons of the demon realm castle. with the new shen qingqiu here he's been severely neglected, mainly because bingge hates to taint his new image of 'the kind shizun' with his hateful despicable old shizun, clearly this is how it was always meant to be, and shen jiu can rot for all he cares. at first shen qingqiu (yuan) thinks shen jiu must be long dead and gone, but then he overhears two guard demons bickering about "food for the prisoner", and he gets curious.

it's a scene à la 'belle and the beast' where shen qingqiu goes to the forbidden wing dungeon, finding shen qingqiu chained up, bones broken, cultivation crippled. one of his arms is gone, and shen qingqiu doesn't want to look too long at the rotten remains in the corner of the cell. shen jiu is barely conscious at this point, but shen qingqiu spends a little time with him anyway.

when he has dinner with bingge later that night, he asks after shen jiu, saying he wants to see him. binghe gets a little paranoid, worried about them teaming up against him or that this shen qingqiu will think he's a monster too. but shen qingqiu knows to spin it in such a way that it basically amounts to "wouldn't it be great to have two nice shizuns?" (shen yuan knows how important closure can be). and. yeah. bingge does like the idea of two nice shizuns.

so then shen qingqiu gets to take care of shen jiu (who does have to remain in the dungeons for now), and if bingge hadn't seen it with his own eyes he wouldn't have believed shen jiu took to shen qingqiu so quickly, being the pitiful pile of broken bones, starvation and torture trauma that he is, but, clearly, the way he allows shen qingqiu to touch him, stroke his hair, how his face falls, just slightly, when shen qingqiu has to leave, he's getting attached. something in bingge's xin-mo influenced mind delights in the idea of something else he can take away from his old shizun (shen yuan won't let him).

there's a bunch of endings to this, whether shen qingqiu and bingge find love and get married, or maybe binghe comes to save his shizun and they take shen jiu back to their world, or shen qingqiu acts like a catalist between original binghe and original shen qingqiu for them to be together, or idk maybe everyone goes to the other (svsss) world and they become some insane quartet, take your pick!

I need more content of Shen Qingqiu and Mobei Jun becoming ... not QUITE friends, but once Mobei Jun understands that Shen Qingqiu is NOT flirting with his husband I think they could vibe?

Them just sitting in a room quietly for an hour because binghe had some demon clan to deal with so shen qingqiu was gonna visit airplane bro but hes caught up with finalizing some trade agreement documents. Neither says more than 5 words total the whole time and both would consider it a pleasant interaction.

They could bond over having a scarily competent spouse who can burst into tears on command. And Binghe could approve of this 'friendship' because mobei clearly isn't going to attempt to steal shizun because he's got his OWN peaklord he's in love with. Idk what Shang Qinghua would get out of this but like I think he'd approve.

Also I'm just saying sqh and lbh have a type as well, and it's ice faced beautiful men who internally love so much they don't know how to express it

He was chronically online and was an asshole from what we know. The only people he talked about that he interacted with really were his parents and siblings. As far as I remember he never mentions having actual friends that he would talk to.

I'm thinking this oblivious idiot just didn't know how friends really talk to or interact with each other so just dialed it up to 11 on what he thought were friend vibes but they were really fuck me vibes.

Instead of being sent on the mission that ended with Shen Yuan getting stripped by a Skinner Demon (before Shen Yuan killed the demon), Yue Qingyuan sends Shen Qingqiu to the imperial city to deal with some political matters.

It's far safer - Shen Qingqiu won't get physically harmed and lost memories or not, Yue Qingyuan reasons that Shen Jiu's innate sharp tongue is going to inflict more emotional damage than he could even possibly receive. Plus, for good measure, he sends Shang Qinghua too.

So, Shen Yuan gets sent to the imperial city to help Shang Qinghua with a particularly difficult trade negotiation and a couple extra days for sightseeing/vacationing because Yue Qingyuan Likes To Spoil Shen Jiu Like That.

As a bonus, Shen Qingqiu's presence also reminds the imperial court to fuck off - Cang Qiong doesn’t deal with politics, they stay out of it and prioritize saving people, so please stop telling them to accept bribes and refuse missions to this or that place that just so happens to be where some enemy politician's fam is located.

Luo Binghe tags along to act as Shen Qingqiu's servant because Shen Yuan demanded it - the sheep can't get bullied on the peak while he's away! - and Yue Qingyuan also thought that Luo Binghe's presence would help encourage Shen Qingqiu to take his meds and eat properly. You know, the basic self-care things that Shen Qingqiu should do more.

Anyways, Shen Yuan does what Shen Yuan does and wifebeams the crown prince. And the whole court. And the city too.

Yue Qingyuan has Regrets. The sheep is watching everything with wide eyes, only narrowly escaping the wifebeam thanks to his age and having not started puberty yet.

(The Luo Binghe a few years later will view those memories with Very Very different outlook. But it's too late.)

A literal line of horse-drawn carts come stampeding to the peak with proposal letters for Shen Qingqiu. And that's how Shen Yuan starts off his second life with a bang.

pouring one out for luo binghe in my disciple SQQ fic, poor guy has taken a backseat here. we're nearly 30k words deep and he hasn't even shown his face once. it'll be much longer before he even actually talks to Shen Qingqiu.

(i say im pouring one out but in reality im sitting in my director's chair chewing on a cigar and wearing a beret as he tearily and unsuccessfully pleads with me for more scenes with Shen Qingqiu)

Bingqiu Modern Day Gang AU where...

...Shen Yuan is transmigrated into a world where he is part of a Chinese gang, and as one of its most ruthless members, Shen Qingqiu. However, Shen Yuan does a bad job of playing the role he's in because he's too nice. When he goes to collect 'protection' money from businesses, he makes sure to ask if they are being protected well and if they are in need of anything. When he is sent to collect some loans, he extends due dates and helps the person with budgeting. When he needs to take care of a rival gang in their turf, he asks them to politely leave and most of the rival gang falls in love and agrees right away (the few who do not fall for his charm end up being dragged or knocked out by their own gang).

Eventually he meets the leader of the most dangerous gang, Luo Binghe. Luo Binghe was once part of Shen Yuan's current gang, but he was left to die after a shootout with another gang by Shen Qingqiu, his mentor. Shen Yuan is unaware of their shared past, and Luo Binghe has been confused by the rumors of a sweet Shen Qingqiu. Luo Binghe confronts his old mentor hoping to get some answers about his change (and probably also get some revenge while he's at it), when he is greeted by Shen Yuan handing a street kid some money to help his ailing mother, and when he turns towards Luo Binghe he gives him the sweetest smile. All plans of revenge fly out the window and Luo Binghe now wants to change careers from gang member to Shen Qingqiu's wife.

Soon enough Shen Yuan's gang ends up turning into a legitimate business because they noticed that Shen Yuan gets sad when they hurt people, and they can't have that! They're wary of Luo Binghe following him everywhere, but they allow it because he keeps Shen Yuan safe (until he makes his intentions clear to romance him, then it's war where everyone at once tries to become Shen Yuan's wife).

Shen Yuan grows attached to the community as the story goes on, and by the end he is happy that he is able to keep the people he cares about safe and happy

(and maybe a minor Moshang subplot where Shang Qinghua handles the financials of Shen Yuan's gang, while spying on it and reporting to Mobei-Jun, Luo Binghe's second in command. Mobei-Jun falls in love and decides to protect the weakest gang member he has ever met, while Shang Qinghua is intimidated by but also horny for Mobei-Jun)
