Clone is on top, but I admit I had a difficult time deciding between 'birth' and 'background character' as second place... On one hand, maybe I'll put 'clone' in the second place.

mmmmmm read a disciple shen yuan/shizun luo binghe fanfic about two days ago where the first chapter was the Immortal Conference arc, and SQQ was the one who had to be pushed into the abyss (he was still the villain) except Luo Binghe was refusing and was like, lowkey losing his mind about SQQ being so close to the edge. SQQ ended up having to be the one to fall in himself because of the system's punishment system. The rest of the fic is leading up to that moment. But like, MMM i've been obsessively thinking about that first chapter for DAYS ever since.
now i've been in svsss for a grand total of *checks watch* a week. but god obsessed with that. I want to write/read a fic where disciple SQQ goes a little nuts down there. Like keep all of the things that make SQQ, SQQ, but just. Throw in a little bit more trauma in there. A little bit of a mental break. Let him go a little nuts as a treat. Just a tad unhinged. I wanna see him go, just a little, "god fuck it, i've tried so hard to change this shitty story's outcome and it feels like everything i've done has been for nothing. I'm going to die in this world no matter what I do, I've been doomed from the start, so might as well die the way I want to." and he just, breaks a little! Under all the stress.
He still retains the traits that makes shen yuan, shen yuan, like his overwhelming kindness. But he's just! yk. A little less patient. Paranoid. Jumpy. Colder. A little more aloof and closed off. A little more Shen Jiu. He's no asshole child abuser, but he was a Number One Hater in his past life and he's leaning into that old habit a little more now.
(On a totally coincidental not-at-all related note, there's not enough SJ-and-SY-are-the-same-people fics out there that i've found. This is totally unrelated...)
The Endless Abyss turns the mind into an over-sharpened blade, and SQQ is both fascinated and perhaps a little excited to explore a place that doesn't have a lot of info on it in the mortal realm, but still terrified out of his mind. And he's no Luo Binghe, he doesn't have the sheer brute strength and power to just bulldoze his way through, so he has to be a lot more sneaky and cunning if he wants to survive.
The fic itself role-swapped LBH and SQQ so that SQQ was the half-demon (which lowkey fucks) and LBH the human, but I'm equally-if-not-more obsessed with the idea that LBH remains the half-heavenly demon and SQQ the human. If only because I keep thinking about SQQ befriending some demons (particularly and specifically a group of succubi) and they grow very attached to this Human Cultivator so through magic plot stuff they create some kind of seal/illusion/talisman that makes SQQ appear as a demon because a human cultivator in the endless abyss may as well be the equivalent of putting a giant neon target on your back.
And iirc Shen Jiu was taught demonic cultivation by that one guy(?? i've only been here a week so im not caught up in ALL of the lore yet) so that could totally happen here.
(On the other end of the realms, poor Shizun Luo Binghe is just. losing his fucking mind over losing his most precious and beloved disciple. About .5 seconds from burning down the peaks himself. somebody sedate him.)
The Endless Abyss sucks and SQQ is having a really terrible time and can feel himself going lowkey mad, but also holy shit look at all this WORLD-BUILDING. look at all this flora and fauna, and oh if he had the equipment for it he'd be writing all of this down. ALL OF IT. He was kinda-sorta-already planning on never leaving the Abyss as some sort of fucked up self-exile and self-preservation thing, but now he might? actually just?? never leave if he can help it, like he lowkey likes it down here.
anyways the next time anyone ever sees SQQ again he's got hair so long its almost touching the ground and he's either in rags and half-feral or he's been completely dolled up by his adoptive succubi sisters and still about three seconds from biting anyone who tries to touch him. (he's also lowkey trying to book it back down to the abyss even if he has desperately missed all of his friends and shizun)
#mxtx svsss#svsss au#scum villian self saving system#shen qingqiu#shen yuan#luo binghe#disciple shen yuan#scum villain#svsss#*points at SQQ/SY* i want him to go nuts. as a treat. let him crumble just a little over the stress of his fate and the stress of survival#and the stress of having a lack of autonomy over a handful of his decisions. starry craves angst and she craves a very specific SQQ angst#he was a number 1 hater back in the day and lbr being a hater takes energyyyy. ive heard that this man was the BIGGEST hater i wanna#see him rip a man to shreds with nothing but his tongue and a voice that could cut marble clean in half. skin a man alive sqq you deserve i#*mortal kombat voice* FINISH HIM#i love without-a-cure but unfortunately i dont think SQQ would be able to have WAC and also survive in the abyss.#the succubi nest that adopted him tried seducing him at first. it didn't work. but he did somehow charm them with his cringefail ways#so now they have a brand new mortal big/little brother to dote on. SQQ is frankly delighted to learn all about succubi culture that doesnt#revolve around sex. he makes quite a few friends/allies in the abyss because of his pure fascination and unbiased desire to learn about#demonic culture and all the different niches and nuances of it across species. he's still going insane tho. like that's not stopping.#there's a single LBH pov chapter in the fic and its frankly so unhinged it was fantastic. he's so possessive. he straight up goes:#'oh SQQ isnt gonna be the next peak lord. he's ascending to heaven with me when i do :)' when Sha Hualing (also peak lord) told him that he#couldn't keep his disciple in the bamboo house all the time. what was SQQ gonna do when LBH ascends and he becomes the new peak lord?#gosh that first chapter is rotating around in my mind so bad. LBH was SO unwell. like losing his actual shit over SQQ near the edge.#i so want to write a oneshot abt this where SQQ is also in hysterics (albeit over slightly diff reasons) and tells LBH on his knees:#'this disciple deeply apologizes to his shizun. for he will not be ascending to the heavens with him.' right before he falls into the abyss#this au being disciple SY is for shits and giggles but i can also see it happening for regular SQQ bc 'fuck it im a dead man either way'#frothing at the mouth at this idea also being a SY-is-SJ au too. for the extra angst of SQQ trying to bear the weight of multiple lives on#his shoulders and trying to figure out what is real and what isn't and if he's meant to suffer in all of his lives no matter what he does.#not once in his life has he ever been free to do what he likes has he? self-hatred to the max. he's going mad. poor boy :]

I've read like all 4 docs on ao3 about SY and SJ sharing a body, and I'm soooo not normal about this concept oh my God. So, it's time to ramble about my take on the concept, of course.
Most things I have read have SY transmigrate at his usual date, but... What if he didn't? What if he transmigrated when SJ was a child on the streets?
For the purposes of this, the person who has the most control of the body is based around soul strength, willpower, and collaboration between souls.
In the beginning, SY has very low soul strength, since he just straight up died, but being a child, SJ's is not much better. They both have obscene amounts of willpower, see canon. And at the beginning? Oh, SJ does NOT want to collaborate.
SY hasn't really gotten the whole "baby scum villain" thing yet, and thinks his soul has been glued to a particularly annoying street kid, so he tries to be patient with SJ, but it's not easy! Holy shit, this kid is a turbo brat who hates him! He is constantly threatening to exorcize SY! Like, kid, you can't exorcize me, you're eight. But SY does end up being useful at times, pointing out danger, reading signs that SJ can't, using his adult knowledge to help him as best he can. By the time they get to the Qiu manor, SJ grudgingly trusts and is maybe attached to his weird ghost hanger-on.
And then the Qiu manor hits. It's... Bad. Really bad. Qi-Ge is gone, hopefully to come back to them someday, but someday is not now, and they need to survive the day. Shen Yuan can't get over the fact that this is just a kid, that all of this is happening to a child. He is an adult, maybe he's not the most responsible adult, or the best person to handle this situation, but damn it SY has to do something.
The first time Shen Yuan takes over completely, it's during a beating in the first week. Before, even if SY had some control of the body, SJ was usually able to yank it back at least partially when he wanted to. He was aware of what was going on. But this time, Shen Jiu feels the first few strikes hit his back before Shen Yuan bubbles up, wrapping around him and pulling him down into blissful oblivion.
When Shen Jiu wakes up, it's over, and Shen Yuan is using some meager supplies he got from god knows where to tend to their wounds. Shen Jiu is scared, he didn't know Shen Yuan could take over that completely, but he's also... Relieved. And confused.
"Why did you take over then? If you really could steal my body, why didn't you do it earlier?"
"You didn't deserve that, Shen Jiu. I- how could I see that and not try and help? Not try and protect you?"
Shen Jiu froze. And then, slowly, started crying. Almost immediately SY starts fussing, asking if their wounds hurt too badly, if he needs him to dull the pain more. SJ sniffles, wiping his eyes, and asks; "More?"
Shen Yuan never explains that, but as SJ goes through the Qiu manor, he realizes that he is absolutely not in as much pain as he really should be. It's easier to bear when the pain is shared between the two of them.
The first time that Qiu Jianluo realizes something is off is during one of his lessons. As the brush is placed in Shen Jiu's hands, the angry, venomous child behind a mask of fear fades away, and he is instead facing calm indifference. The characters are perfect, every one of them, even the ones which there is no possible way Shen Jiu should have been able to know.
This pattern continues. Shen Jiu knows things he shouldn't. He is abnormally good at talking circles around guards and other servants, confusing and manipulating them enough to evade Qiu Jianluos summons in ways that couldn't possibly be his fault, orchestrating many of their confrontations with Qiu Haitang around as protection.
Shen Jiu is a good actor, he's smart, he's quick, but he isn't a fully grown adult master poser like our Shen Yuan is. Shen Yuan, number one rules lawyer and actor, is incredibly good at driving Qiu Jianluo up the wall without him being able to retaliate, and when he does manage to get in a beating, SJ/SY is not nearly as responsive to the pain as he should be, and heals faster than he should.
This is because the lovely new flowers that Qiu Haitang has planted in the garden at SJs kind suggestion are a PIDW plant that provides accelerated healing.
Eventually, it's too much, and Qiu Jianluo KNOWS something is up. He calls a rogue cultivator by the name of Wu Yanzi in to investigate the problem, and Wu Yanzi finds, and exorcises it. Shen Jiu is terrified and panicked, and Wu Yanzi, who had seen Shen Jiu's high spiritual potential, places Shen Yuan into a spirit trapping pouch and tells Shen Jiu to burn the Qiu manor to the ground and bring him as much money and jewelry as possible if he wants his little ghost back.
So the Qiu Manor burns, and Shen Jiu joins Wu Yanzi, significantly less willingly this time. Qi-Ge is nowhere to be seen, and Shen Yuan isn't there to save him anymore.
Shen Jiu supposes he will have to save himself.
#svsss#scum villian self saving system#shen jiu#shen yuan#shen brothers#also SY has been taking like absurd amounts of pain#like. scary amounts. to the point where SJ is gonna be fucked up for a bit by the chronic pain that has manifested on him by SY leaving#SJ is in far worse shape health wise then canon#rip#thats the SY stubbornness for you#big brother ghost au

on a qijiuyuan streak so far um hm so consider the flavor of sy fully believing that he's just a substitute for who yqy really loves (sj) and doing his best to fulfill the role
maybe it's a courtship for political purposes and so sy is aware that there wouldn't be any genuine romance here, but he is hoping for at least friendship??? he does want to save yqy bc his original ending in pidw is just too tragic... and also full of plot holes and plot armor.
though it gets obvious real quick that yqy is head over heels in love with sqq. nothing sy says or does will dissuade yqy from loving the scum villain. the thing is, it is also obvious to sy that sqq abhors yqy, except that it's less of a disdainful kind of hate and more like hurt? sy is so confused. he's cursing airplane out every time he gets stuck with both peak lords during a tea session.
when he does unlock qijiu's tragic backstory, he goes ??? wtf is this tragedy airplane, why didn't you put this in pidw it would've been so much better!!! more thought-provoking!!! also everything makes so much more sense now. and so he sets out to right the misunderstandings and miscommunication (he does like yqy and sqq, even as the scum villain, deserves an explanation and/or closure)
on sj's side he's fucking pissed that this pale impostor of him is going around taking advantage of the guilt yqy feels over him. he spitefully brings down sy's reputation, bc he's possessive over his qi-ge even though yqy isn't his qi-ge anymore... and he can tell that yqy is not really in love with the impostor, anyway.
yqy is just going !!! bc on one hand he feels delighted that sj does still feel something for him, even if it's just possessiveness from the past... and also sy is genuinely kind and good and yqy has longed for such warmth before, but it always feels wrong when he thinks of everything he's done and failed to do... if it were any other time, he may have grown to love sy, but it's not meant to be.
fuckers think they're playing 4d chess with each other (well, shen yuan's part is more like uh poker but yeah) but like. they're so stupid i love them so much i can't wait to write more chaotic trashfire aus of them save me
#svsss#shen yuan#shen jiu#yue qingyuan#qijiuyuan#yes a new au gods know i need to reassess myself#svsss lovelorn au#sy: can't they just talk like a normal people for the love of GOD#sqh: idk bro#sy: you wrote this world! fix this!#sqh: bro they were like. an 11/10 disaster before you came. now they're like at infinity/10 with a side of threats-of-war kind of jealousy#and also zhangmen-shixiong's complexes got even WORSE#don't get me started on shen-shixiong#sqh: anyway i have coffee want some#sy: yeah sure whatever

I keep seeing mamajiu things and how shen jiu having a child would change his demeaner and make him kinder.
The lies.
Does no one know what generational trauma is? Do they know how hard it is to break the cycle?
I think it would be something like sj would try and raise sy(lets say shen yuan is tha child for simplicity) but simply fail, he would make snide remarks that would leave sy with a crumbling self confidence and sy wouldn't confront sj about this because whenever sy tried to bond with sj, sj would talk about how busy he is and how he didn't have time for sy. This would result in sy thinking he's not worth as much as work and be unable to make friends or anything because he would think he's useless.
I also think that whether sj hit sy or not, it would be bad for sy, either thinking he was too weak to be beaten or that he deserved to be beaten because of the way that sj acts.
The reason I don't think sj would be super protective of him is because of the way he treated binghe, he beat binghe because he was jealous that he had anyone who cared about him, e.g washerwoman, and he would refrain from treating sy well because he went way too hard on the rough love.
but that's just what I think

I see a lot of examination and discussion of how Shen Jiu had the setting/backstory of a protagonist, could've been a protagonist if not for a twist of fate, and in a way his shape is still a protagonist when SY literally piloted his body- but not. (I think we all get hung up a lot bcs he didn't become protag like he deserves but he also didn't become a full on villain, who's still a protag of his own story, but just a scum villain because of the misunderstanding, somewhere along the way something happened and held him back in that in-between place, unable to tip over completely one way or another.)
It's often brought up that he's undergone his own blackening into a scum villain and I think about that a lot, but you know, his settings never actually trailed off too far from the protagonist setting, with the 'from the lowest to the highest' template- idk if that makes sense, but anyways, I of course have read more than my fair share of fix-its, but often, if not always, it's a time travel scenario.
But WHAT IF:
But what if Shen Jiu, rather than swallowing the shards of Xuan Su, uses it to cut himself free of the immortal binding ropes or whatever is stopping his qi. Which is not LBH's parasite blood I don't think they have that ability but whatever. I mean, you'd ask how would he, without arms and legs, escape? A nifty thing we're all familiar with called author's will.
A time when LBH is away to deal with one thing or another, and SJ, after years of lifeless staring, and even more lifeless staring in the aftermath of YQY's death, moves. The thing about not attempting to escape for a long, long time, is that people lower their guards and grows complacent, and it's not as if there's anyone checking up on him to see if he's eating meals or whatever, LBH is more than happy to get suggestions from his wives for torture ideas but was very controlling of who gets to inflict it (Xuan Su was just left there and he did manage to swallow it). So Shen Jiu, with only Xuan Su's blade and it's inherent property as a spirit sword, not even an active one which means on one hand there's no active qi in it but the latent one from its materials, and on the other hand it's not bound to anyone and was more malleable, whatever. ANYWAYS. Skip.
Shen Jiu knowing of one thing or another, or several things that's a combination of common healing theory, rarer healing practices, less than righteous surgery techniques, equals bastardized body repair and ends with him frankensteining himself with some shaky qi threads. The needle is a piece of Xuan Su. He doesn't blink bcs his pain receptors are no more.
Scenario A.) I want SJ to play the 'mysterious wandering protag with a mysterious dark past and a mission for vengeance', only wanting to kill LBH before planning to retire from existance himself and he goes with his cool and angsty scarred body that he'd DIY'ed. The blood parasites are solved by something ruthlessly self-destructive only someone with SJ's coldness and lack of actual desire to continue breathing would do without even some initial testing. This would be done quick and dirty to keep LBH from teacking him. OR/AND
Scenario B.) I say or-slash-and because the scenario A could be cut off or maybe they could be combined. The handy dandy sun and moon dew!!! Plant it, grow it, kill himself, and recover his full potential all those years ago! Of course this would take quite a while, so he might need scenario A anyways. And conveniently enough, it puts him in the path of....... dun dun dun ZUZHI-LANG!!! And TLJ by proxy. Allies get! Maybe! Because TLJ wants to kill the sects, right? But his son did it here for him, so maybe he wouldn't bother anymore. Or maybe it's not enough bcs he hadn't killed all of everyone, so let daddy fix that right up. Or/and, LBH feels threatened and threatens in proper blackened protg manner and TLJ threatens back and flat out stomps him.
So. Maybe!
To expand on the rest of the Jianghu, the other 4 Peak Lords we know are alive, SQH, QQQ, WQW, and MQF. Bcs we don't have definite details on the timeline of PIDW, we can conveniently fill in space, put a lot of cause and effect, the cultivator world is in an uproar by the reveal that LBH is a demon (it's not as if they were okay with that, duh, if they'd known he was a demon, SJ's actions would've been treated as the only logical thing to do) and YQY is dead, AND SQH is a traitor, so that's down two - or rather three with SQQ- influential people, two of which were heavily involved in how everything is run (SQQ, while not actually lazy in his cultivation, was indeed lazy and unmotivated in most tasks that involved coordinating with others).
I really don't think SJ would feel even a little bit betrayed by SQH. To be betrayed you have to trust first, and his whole thing was that he never trusted anyone from CQMS. For SJ, SQH didn't betray them so much as his loyalty just belonged to another. Still would kill the rat next time he sees him tho (spoiler alert, he doesn't, kill him that is, but he does see him eventually).
So, I'm of the belief that Airplane's drafts included the Peak Lords as big boss too, where TLJ is the big boss of the demonic realm, they're the ones for the cultivation world, and my headcanon is that they were purposely met with sudden deaths one way or another in PIDW, and none actually died in a straight up fight, which is on brand with LQG's deviation, SQQ's trial, and YQY's thousand arrows (that I say are one of those bullshit golden finger artifacts of PIDW, maybe something like 'heavenly damned arrows of a thousand rays' that always flies true to it's target and could seal rare level pokemon rip-offs beasts for every single one. No reason that they would be normal p arrows, really). SQH might have fought or just been completely taken off guard by his lord killing him out of the blue with no chance to wriggle out. But Like QQQ was backstabbed. WQW was poisoned. MQF sacrificed himself for a beloved disciple (and that's why WQW died because he set out to find his martial brother but didn't know he'd already died. Awww).
(connected to another headcanon, the other five unnamed Peak Lords died long ago in the first battle against TLJ when he was sealed)
These people were meant to be a team. Or at least a set.
So SJ goes on an epic quest of getting power to kill his Qi-ge's killer via sun and moon dew possibly while he gets his tactician brain creating up something to kill LBH (OP characters are not killed in straight up fights, as we've learned, they're tricked or betrayed) and accidentally finding and gathering his siblings who, at that point, happen to have become guardians of havens and refuge communities in pockets of the world that holds the remnants of cultivator and human realm, where the demonic forces have spread far and wide in every realm. It's initially written to later, eventually be conquered by LBH. For example there's a hidden cave passage that leads you to Mu Qingfang's hidey hole, a pocket dimension with much rural fantasy aesthetic, housing parients and normal mortals with farms and houses woven to giant trees. Wei Qingwei is found underground creating weapons and defenses day in and day out to source to QQQ and MQF. Qi Qingqi with her armies always on the move, squads spread out in the realms, resisting against the demonic forces, helping Mu Qingfang rescue stragglers, from her old fairycore ensemble shifting to dragoncore, rarely resting with her inedia in the hollow of a mountain.
(xianxia aesthetic, whimsical aesthetic, aesthetic aesthetic aesthetic!!!!!!!!).
They..... Well. It's an awkward reunion.
SJ was shocked to meet the first lord sibling he'd seen since his imprisonment, shown only by a slight widened eyes, but emotions quickly gone. His first words is, "Do you wnat to kill the beast?"
He didn't care about the answer, if they said yes, then alright, if they said no, then he'd just walk away.
They say yes. Every one.
So, the rest really depends on how you interpret his relationship with them before the trial.
A). Was it a case of it's exactly what it looked like and they oh so very righteously hated him and he hated them back, a bunch of misunderstandings and not-so misunderstandings building up?
B). Did they have mutual respect and mutual awareness that everyone in the room they hold their PL meetings in were assholes of different flavors? Did they expect Shen Jiu to save himself in the trials, was dissapointed when he didn't but since he didn't give any indication of wanting to be saved, shrugged their shoulders and left him to his life, as they have always poked and snided at each other but always kept away from actually interfering with their lives (no matter how evil they thought the others were, because they may be evil, but they were still siblings and that just meant they had evil martial siblings. Love morally dubious group of PL but still ride and die)?
C). Or maybe they actually had a good relationship consisting of a lot of sharp teasing and reckless verbal and physical lashing and tantrums that you can really only get away with to your siblings, but was twisted by outside perpective?
And, on the way, maybe he learns to form relationships properly, with people that he loved nothing like the all-consuming soul twisting and mutually hurtful and destructive way he dedicated everything to Yue Qingyuan (from his loyalty to his shrivelled love and every hurtful words).
Just. Friends. Family. Siblings.
Imagine SJ eventually wandering off, with a burnt down Peak that would never again beholden him to promises, broken and otherwise. Grieving, yes, but somehow at peace than he'd ever been in. A very long time?
Ming Fan, who'd perhaps been in Qi Qingqi's Fairy Haven (of course that's the name, we've got a theme people) that was the group that consisted of people that bayed for the Emperor's blood or just the more active cultivators (with GYX mayhaps), a loyal disciple reunited with his Shizun. Or mayne he'd been the one to have found SJ as a human stick and helped him get spare body parts.
I imagine in this world, once Luo Binghe is... out of the picture, one way or another, busy dying or busy having an appropriately dramatic amnesia arc for him to develop character development, NYY takes over as the Empress, with her court of demoness and humans, and Harems becomes synonymous to Council. LMY her right hand helping keep everyone in line, who are also partially managed by SHL, who weighted her options and pros and cons and found establishing her position as left hand pretty good for now. The rest can come later. Imagine NYY growing up, not in brute strength bcs that wasn't how she was taught, nor is it her strength, but perhaps in a way that SJ would idly wonder if perhaps he should've endorsed her to Qiong Ding. Not all harem members stay of course, and some had to die. Ning YingYing becomes the First Empress of the age of peace in the unified two realms and first order of business is secure her influence. Second is ban slaves. Third is to encourage a tentative cooperation between humans and demons.
(Additional note: LBH having a protagonist halo doesn't make him unkillable, the death just has to meet several requirements, like being suitably glorious and impactful, and also maybe tragic- ehem killed by his own father or shizun, and seeing his washerwoman mother at his last moments. The protagonist is just another tool to set up the story and evidently, genre change is not impossible.)
(I imagine a confrontation between SJ and LMY early on that goes along the lines of SJ saying, "Wouldn't you know better than most, the thirst for vengeance for a brother's death?)
What if SJ's fix-it comes after PIDW, you know. PIDW being his tragic backstory. A slave who climbed so high despite the past clinging heavy on his shoulders, and then falling down lower than he'd ever been and resolving his issues and then climbing back even higher with more stable footing.
Qiu Haitang, Yue Qingyuan, Liu Qingge, their Five Unnamed Martial Siblings, Luo Binghe- regrets, and triumphs, all part of his story to mull over whenever he reaches the top of random hills and sets out his tea set. It's a bittersweet plot I like thinking about.

I have a million and one svsss AU ideas that idk if I'll ever write cause I have 0 confidence in my untested writing skills. Any of these appeal to you?? Go ahead, use 'em. Know any fanfics like that? Please please PLEASE leave them in the comments. Ideas to add? Anything? Please go ahead I have no friends that are as deep in the svsss brainrot as me to subject this to ˚‧º·(˚ ˃̣̣̥᷄⌓˂̣̣̥᷅ )‧º·˚
Continued under the cut due to excessive rambling
These will be Ghost King/Calamity!SJ cause he has been living rentfree in my brain ever since one braincell at one AM shouted about it so you have been warned.
- Dual Ghost Kings YQY and SJ, Post canon of PIDW. That's it that's the idea. Their extras hurt my cold dead heart way too much and as much as bbygirl SJ is a piece of shit, Yue Qingyuan deserves happiness, and for that he needs his Xiao-Jiu. Basically YQY does not stay dead when Bingge turns him into a pincushion à la White No Face to Xie Lian except with arrows. What happens from here? Idk didn't get that far but I imagine he steals back his (probably dead) Xiao-Jiu, maybe does some other batshit insane shit like we all know that deep down he's capable of, and the duo fucking COMMUNICATES for once in their life and they live happily ever after. Bonus points for hilarious deaths for Bingge.
- If you're a filthy multishipper like me, want a BingJiu version of the above QiJiu? Easy, SJ decides to haunt Bingge's ass for eternity and vice versa when Bingge kicks the bucket and so they spent the rest of eternity trying to make each other miserable in increasingly ridiculous and creative ways. Maybe along the centuries they find a common enemy or sort their shit out and proceed to make their awful existence everyone else's problem. A match made in hell, truly <3
Are you seeing a theme yet. I like a general comedic air to svsss AUs, it just belongs to the svsss experience ya know? Anyway carrying on-
Shen twins, and SQH twins cause why not. If you want Binghe twins too, actually probably funnier with Binghe twins, where one is our beloved maiden Bingmei and the other OG!PIDW Bingge but forced back in time with memories of the PIDW timeline. Transmigrator SQH aka Airplane gets the peak lord + Mobei-Jun plotline while OG!SQH is just chilling as an An Ding Peak Hallmaster or something. Meanwhile, the Shen twins have a funny game of imposter going on. As far as everyone is concerned, there is only one Shen Qingqiu, Shen Yuan. Shen Yuan transmigrated in earlier into the novel, but ended up going to CQM with Yue Qi while SJ got stuck in the Qiu household as in canon. From here the details can change but the main idea is that
A) Shen Yuan knows how to do his peak lord job actually
B) SJ is a calamity ghost, having died either in his disciple years or alternatively never made it out of the Qiu household alive
C) Both SY and SJ have been playing switcheroo when SY needs to head out and do stuff or just wants SJ to do his paperwork for him.
I still need a good reason for the switching and duping, but wouldn't it be funny if the disciples just had to deal with their peak lord behaving WILDLY different at times. Most of the time it's good ol' Shen Yuan smiling at disciples, way too enthusiastic for monsters and plants and keeps forgetting his fans everywhere. Then one random week in the month after he has a resting bitch face, scowls, snarls and bitches at anyone and has 0 patience for teenage attempts at music.
Most shrug it off as just terrible migraine weeks, but some disciples are suspicious, most of all Bingge who is CONVINCED something is WrongTM. Like, he KNOWS SQQ and this SQQ is just so different, something must be different. He doesn't know how right he is yet everyone just thinks he's actually insane.
I know this is probably increasingly insane and dumb, but fast forward to the Abyss opening. SJ was probably there to keep an eye on his clumsy twin, but SY ends up asking the ghost to look over the Luos, as the system still demands that they go to the abyss. So SJ after much grumbling agrees (after all he probably just was unmasked as ghost calamity, and the twins as demons, with a huge amount of cultivators moving their way. It's really the smaller hassle to jump into the Abyss and deal with the horrors there. Besides, the scholar in SJ would be curious about the abyss (and SY too let's be honest) ), kicks both in and goes "Alright we're taking an impromptu field trip" and jumps in after leaving SY to deal with the political mess that comes after.
Anyway, the last AU can be changed in various ways, like make it a PIDW time travel fix it with only the OGs around, or just Shen twins, etc. Feel free to shout at me how dumb this all is.

genuine question: if corporal punishment was a common thing in ancient times, doesn't that justify qjl's treatment of sj too? slavery was normal at the time, after all
It physically pains me to answer this question. But yes.
While I dislike QJL's greatly to the point that it makes me want to strangle him, chop off his dick, shove it down his throat and make him shit his own balls, the historical context is important to understand why he was 'entitled' to abuse SJ.
We, modern people, who live differently from our great-great-great ancestors, in different times with different values, one in which we're taught that beating someone is wrong, is different from the beliefs of people from thousands of years ago.
Take for instance ancient Egypt, the Roman Empire etc. Owning slaves back then was the norm. If you were to ask a civilian of those empires, they wouldn't dwell too much on the morality of owning slaves. They wouldn't see anything wrong with it. Because it easied their work.
And if one group defeated another, it was a normal practice to enslave the defeated.
Back then, abuse and slavery were considered to be as natural as breathing. Just like slavery was prominent, so was domestic abuse.
Does this make it ok? No.
My parents lived through a period of time were corporeal punishments were a must-have in schools. Whenever they recount their times, telling me how school operated back them, I am always left speechless and horrified.
In my mind, the only one allowed to lift a hand on me is my mother. And that's it.
However, I have noticed the inconsistent views my parents have about teachers hitting students.
When they talk about their school years, recounting how severe and strict their teachers were, they dont view it as sever as I see it.
And that's where the conflicting views lie.
If a teacher ever lifted a hand on me, my mom would have brought hell on earth, but, at the same time, she doesn't think her teachers had been wrong when using a stick to strike the student's palm for not doing homework.
YQY and SJ himself, despite having experienced slavery, dont address it as much. Which is a clear indicator that they too believe it to be normal. Not even SY, someone who came from the 'modern' world, seems to be affect by the concept of slavery. Let's remember that while exploring SJ's memories he said something along the lines of seeing a live action of a murder, not once addressing the severe abuse SJ suffered at the hands of QJL.
Am I saying that slavery and abuse are normal?
Fuck no.
No one deserves to be beaten up. Shen Jiu didn't deserve the beatings, nor did Luo Binghe, nor anyone else.
Slavery is a disgusting practice, which deserves to be punished accordingly. Slavery ruined many people's livelihood, and caused generational trauma. And we see that with Shen Jiu as well, whose personal trauma ended up affecting LBH as well.
However, if people are going to excuse LBH's inhumane behavior, torture and savage dismemberment of SJ, turning him into a limbless state, I might as well excuse SJ's abuse toward LBH, while totally ignoring QJL's existance.

What would an (G)I-DLE x ATEEZ orgy look like?
nearly had a brain explosion when i thought of how to go about this nsfw, all fiction ik it's taboo but calm ur tits n balls okay? alright
first of all, ill make up pairs based on how they portray themselves:
sy x hj (spoiler) - they're so much like each other, they'll just fill each other out very well
yq x yh - cheery puppies, will fuck like puppies too
my x sgh - pretty ppl belong together idk
sh x wy - bratty ppl deserve to duke it out in the bedroom lol
sj x sn - they're performers, they perform
mn x jh - they're vocals, they'll make sex sound so pleasing for no reason
mg x sy - for some reason I think she'd level him and make him feel so small while she'd feel like she's being destroyed by his you-know-what
ysg x sh/my - pretty ppl deserve to be together
now how they'd all be like together:
the leaders, queencard and pirate king, start by making out
they get a bit too into it, making their counterparts yuqi and seonghwa to pull them away, kissing their leaders themselves before pulling away
miyeon would go to hwa, touching him everywhere while kissing his neck, the slightly older male basking in the feeling
meanwhile yunho goes to yuqi and pulls her all to himself, roughly pawing at her top as she jutted her hips for him to pull down the piece of clothing that mattered most
soyeon goes to mingi, guiding the big boy to touch himself while she strip teases him
joong then goes to shuhua and wooyoung, guiding the to actually fuck and not just tease each other to oblivion
yeosang was heaving as jongho helped minnie go down on him, his length being a challenge; but because of her experience with jongho's girth, she got him in pretty easily after a few chokes and stokes
san and soojin were at it the farthest, with her holding her hair up as she rode his length, him holding her hips so that she'd be grounded
of course there's a rotation, and even a thing that looks like a gangbang, but make no mistake that after all this, they're all making out with each other as they're drenched in each other's fluids
they take 10 minute showers separately, because if done in threes and twos it'll take much longer to clean up iykwim
alr thx for this ask ill dowse myself in puraqua

hello! how are you going? do you have any svsss fic recs you enjoyed?
Aside from the usual Horrors, I'm quite well!! I hope you are too ^^
Oh wow, It's a bit hard to pick just a few because I've read a lot of SVSSS fics in the past few years, but here's the ones that came to mind/ I've been thinking about recently! (I'm excluding ones that I already recommended this week for the ask game, you can check out my "ask fish" tag to see those. Edit: I made a "fish recommends" tag too.)
Qijiu:
"i bury my voice for you" (series) by lithali. Space opera AU, Shen twins, everyone is aliens, intense qijiu longing, SJ’s unending font of angsty internal dialogue, and kinky qijiu sex feat transmasc SJ. I need more people to read this one!!!!!!!
"Palimpsest" by Azzandra. YQY loses his memories and tries to piece together how SJ fits in his life from what others tell him. I adore this fic, it's a really interesting examination of both their characters and why they love each other intrinsically.
"You Were You, And I Was I" by MissMegh. Deaged qijiu being feral, clinging, and horny teenagers. Super cute and funny!
"what thing it is (that people most desire)" by Jinxed_Ink. A vaguely medieval AU based on an Arthurian legend where SJ disguises himself and blackmails YQY into marrying him for Revenge. SJ has Absolutely No Other Motive There. I didn't know how much I needed this particular brand of qijiu marriage shenanigans until I read it.
"I'm just as exposed (when i take off my clothes)" by owoxian. Qijjiu being weird and horny (as they deserve), being misinterpreted as abuse by accidental voyer MQF.
"The Sect Leader’s Husband" by AMereDream. Canon divergence where YQY came back for SJ on time, and instead of becoming the QJP head disciple, SJ married YQY and became the power behind the throne. Cute power couple qijiu!!!
"The Heart Is A Sword" by Moonsheen. A-Su, a boy who is a sword, the emperor's weapon, is appointed personal attendant to the emperor's new consort Shen. PIDW post-canon.
Bingqiu:
"Rehearsal" by Prim_the_Amazing. Binghe, fresh from the abyss, uses a dream realm to run through all the ways his reunion with SQQ might go. This one is basically pure angst but it's SO good.
"How to Meal Prep - Household Tips, Recipes, and Ideas for a Better-Organised Life!" By x_los. Character study of 17-year-old preeminent housewife Binghe. It's cute, it's weird, and it's terribly tragic on account of the Dramatic Irony.
"Futility in Practice" by TGP. Time loop fic with a REALLY cool style of story telling. Repetitive but iterative text from Binghe, the non-looping character's POV as SQQ desperately tries to find the right answer to end the loop. Very angsty!
"it's not gay if you don't touch my ass ... unless?" by azunshi. Modern AU, SY wants to have sex with Binghe but ofc that would be gay, so instead he puts a cocksleeve up his ass for binghe to fuck instead. This fic is so deeply stupid (positive/complimentary), I love it, it's the exact brand of unhinged this whole fandom is slowlyy becoming.
"Songs of a Wayfarer" by foxflowering. Ballet AU with young prodigy LBH and his teacher SY!
Binggeyuan:
"to find an intended (a bit unintentionally)" by nyoomerr. This is the classic. Wandering cultivator SY accidentally doms Bingge into being a good boy.
"broken glass, swept away" by aaeph. Modern AU, SY buys a home only to find it haunted by the centuries old ghost of a demonic emperor. Bingge tries so hard to push SY away over and over, but SY is a stubborn man.
Jiuyuan:
"Jump To The Left" by ValiantBarnes (Cimila). I'm not sure quite how to describe this one without spoilers, but essentially, older Shen Yuan finds and saves SJ in the era he was following WYZ. SY takes SJ as a traveling companion/sort of disciple. CW for mentions of incest/psuedo-incest (no actual incest though).
"Immortal Shen Does Not Do Online Deliveries" by Anonymous. SY, a young cultivator and scholar, goes to ask the reclusive immoral master SQQ for an elixir. SQQ toys with him a little <3. Mean SQQ and flustered SY.
Gen/ No Ship:
"Rat Trap" by Azaisya. LQG & SJ. LQG and SJ are kidnapped, they get truth serum-ed, and they're forced to confront their different background and conflicting morals and methods that stem from that. I think this is my favorite execution of "LQG learns SJ's backstory and Has Regrets", because their conflict is explicitly framed as a class divide rather than just misunderstandings, and it addresses the flaws in both their resulting worldviews to some extent.
"Sit With Your Soul" by Tossawary. SJ & SY. This is a fusion with His Dark Materials, but no knowledge is required. Basically everyone has an animal companion that's connected to and represents their soul, and SY transmigrates into SQQ's.

Posting an SVSSS outline for a fic that I will sadly never have the time to write in the hopes that maybe it'll inspire someone out there. <3 Summary: Due to a system error, SY transmigrates into SQQ five years after Binghe fell into the Abyss. With no system, no support from his martial brothers, and no telling when the blackened protagonist will come to get his revenge, SY must find a way to survive.
Original LBH/SQQ|SY, background LBM/SQQ|SY
SY wakes up to hear the system going into a blue screen (power source missing, external power source corrupted), and finds himself in the world of PIDW as SQQ. After speaking with his martial brothers, he discovers it’s been 5 years since the immortal conference where Binghe fell into the abyss.
SY knows that this means that his return is imminent, but can’t help feeling like he’s gotten the short end of the stick- why send him to a role where he could have made a difference if he’d had more time? On top of that, the peak leaders don’t believe him when he tries to warn them that everyone is in danger, and he is subsequently put under house arrest for rest after his severe qi deviation.
A young disciple from Mu-shidi’s peak is tasked with helping his recovery, tending to his needs while he has to meditate and re-ground himself. SY quickly learns that the boy is not going to let him leave, but is willing to listen and help him talk out his fears/what he might be able to do to save the sect and cultivation world at large.
After a few months of seclusion in the bamboo house, SY has figured out how to act enough like SJ to be permitted to go on short trips to the foot of the mountain as part of his recovery./to help settle his nerves. While in town, SY thinks he sees LBH, which throws him into a panic. The disciple takes him back to the peak with the assurance that there is nothing to fear, but suggests that maybe he would feel better if they traveled somewhere remote for an actual vacation.
After listing off a few places like small towns and hot springs where SQQ knows LBH found wives, he settles on a small town SY has never heard of and should probably be safe, but then he feels guilty about essentially abandoning the peak inhabitants to their fate and fleeing. The disciple says that he can make sure that the peak remains safe, but in turn SY has to agree to do what he’s told. SY reluctantly agrees, knowing the disciple is just humoring him.
By the time SY finally agrees to leave, it’s too late; LBH arrives at the bamboo house and is ready to fight, but then the disciple steps in and soundly forces LBH to make a withdrawal. The disciple then reveals himself to be Luo Bingge, and demands that SY return with him. SY freaks out to the point of qi deviation and blacks out.
When he wakes up, he’s in the bamboo house and everything is quiet. For a moment he thinks it’s all a bad dream, and then the door to the bedroom opens up and it’s another SQQ. This SQQ turns out to be another version of SY from another reality, and somehow he ended up married to a softer version of the protagonist. SQQ says that Bingge brought him here to ‘learn how to love him.’
SY and SQQ talk for a bit about transmigration, coming to terms with being gay, and talking about the trauma of being unable to grieve for their last life. SQQ offers sanctuary, saying that LBM had beaten LBG before and they can keep him safe. SY ultimately decides to go with LBG since they’d been together for months and the disciple never hurt him and definitely saved him from a fate worse than death. And besides, he always thought LBH deserved better, so why not him?
SQQ wishes him luck and gives him a talisman from his system to get in touch if he ever changes his mind, and LBG takes him back to his world to learn how to love him.
SY and LBG have a beauty and the beast montage and the harem starts getting dispersed, but SY is still having panic attacks that send him into qi deviations, dreaming about what almost happened back in the first PIDW world. He thinks that Binghe is hunting him down, even more angry than before since he’s been denied his revenge AND he got beaten by an imposter.
LBG swears he will protect him; <more stuff happens and SY is slowly coming to terms with the fact that he might actually be gay for Binghe, lol>
Showdown of Other LBH vs LBG, shit starts to go down and SY tries to use the token from the other SQQ to get LBM to help; ends up doing a system reset and he wakes up in the bamboo house with YQG sitting by his side, anxious about the qi deviation. The dream is already beginning to fade as he asks after LBH, who is apparently still in the woodshed where he left him….
#svsss#plot bunnies#outline#fics I'll never write#but it was fun outlining lol#Feel free to use this as a prompt if you guys are inspired <3#original luo binghe#shen yuan

Which do you think is more tragic, Yi City arc or BeefLeaf arc or the Fallout between Shen Jiu - Yue Qi? Why?
huahuhuefheufhef okokok,,, so the thing is i haven't really read mdzs or the sj/yqy extra........ BUT I WILL STILL TRY ANSWERING THIS.......... unfortunately this will put the yi city arc out of the run tho :( sorry anon!!
okay okay uh uh uhu hh uh soo i dooo think there's something so tragic about the beefleaf arc esp with revenge and what they "could have had"----- and yes, beefleaf were best friends.... but tbfr. that's all they were.
sqx had others. he had so many people and so many things- the whole point was that he was *living in bliss* the whole time!! and hx was jealous and angry and rightfully mad that he got his fate with his brother and blah blah yada yada dont feel like typing rn sorry
there's another factor ofc- that's sqx's brother and what they had to go through when hx cut his head off. but tbh... beefleaf fared *well* after that fact. maybe hx was- tbh i dont remember where he was, im pretty sure revenge didnt help him at all but idk if we saw him on page after it-
anyway, bUT sqx was actually doing quite fine by the time we get to book 7-8! he has friends and he's genuinely happy. so,,,,,
i guess i'd say sj/yq was more tragic;
in a story where everyone is able to get their version of a happy ending (bingqiu, zhuzhi lang dying to protect tianlang jun, mbj/sqh, etc, etc) yq NEVER GOT THAT. they both had been so close at one point, and now theyre peak lords but sqq doesn't trust him anymore (rightfully) even tho yq was JUSTIFIED but he never TALKED ABOUT IT because he was here wallowing and punishing himself (and while doing so, hurting sj further, *because he thought that yq left him there, damnit*)
and by the time yq tries apologizing, explaining- it's too late. sj is long gone, we don't know where he is. yq has to watch someone he cares about, his loved one, away with his disciple, happy to be nowhere near him. from his pov, it's tragic (and he thinks he deserves that), even if sy just thinks it's awkward/sad with him.
erm... yeah that's all i got. sorry for rambling nonsense!! thank you so much for the ask, sorry for taking so long!!
and my hot take... ehueehehheh... mmy abadddd
#mxtx#mxtx hell#habizanswers#anon asks#beefleaf arc#yue qi/shen jiu arc#svsss#tgcf#ask answered#thanks for the ask#my rambles are great i swear

no offense, op, but i've been trying to put into words why i don't think this is a good take and it boils down to, basically, it's an oversimplification of what trauma is and what it does to you, in other words this kind of reads like "why do people with PTSD not just act normal? they're not even in that situation anymore."
when you've been that affected (by slavery, abuse, perceived betrayal) your brain is not going to allow you to just 'choose to be happy', ESPECIALLY if this happened during your formative years (in shen jiu's case, he 'got out' at 15 and joined cqms at 16), the stages in which trauma has the most significant affect on a person and the way they think. you need someone else's help to get you out of it. unfortunately, therapy doesn't exist in pidw, and yqy can try his hardest but he has his own issues too which prevent him from saying what sj really needs to hear, and it is true that his own behaviour pushes other people away. you really can't just think your way out of the effect severe trauma has on your brain, though - it takes help and support. it changes your entire way of thinking. yes of course he Could have been nice and made lots of friends, the choice was open to him, but by that point his formative years had already been marked by dehumanization, significant abuse, and (as far as he knew) abandonment and the knowledge that nobody in the world actually cared about him. so like… is it any wonder he didn't? (not a justification for abusing binghe but just, like, very understandable reasoning behind why he was a big ball of iron spikes and rage and misery). it doesn't mean the peak lords or his fellow disciples were wrong for not trying to befriend him because they weren't obliged to be nice to someone who wasn't nice to them. but i find it difficult to blame shen jiu for this given what he went through. like, do you think it would be possible for him, someone who suffered unimaginably and believes himself to be completely alone and incapable of being loved, to just shrug it all off?
i'm not woobifying him, either - as mentioned above this doesn't excuse him perpetuating the cycle of abuse, but it's a normal level of nuance to have and i think regardless of your views on shen jiu, he deserves it as a canonical victim of the aforementioned slavery, abuse, etc. we should hold all characters by these standards. bingge, too, wasn't able to just "become happy" no matter how much power or how many loving wives he had. making bingmei literally took sy transmigrating and providing love and catharsis during his most vulnerable and formative years. it's not that the brain is broken after a certain point but that you're gonna need someone's help not to fall into a deep pit or, if you did, to try climbing out. this is also the entire thesis of tgcf in regards to xie lian and jun wu lol (traumatised person is not going to be able to improve their own life or have healthy relationships with others with no help from anyone else at all - not counting yue qingyuan because while i know he loves shen jiu and tried his best, he couldn't understand that he accidentally contributed to this by allowing shen jiu to believe he never tried to go back for him - and he ASKED! he tried to get yqy to tell him! yqy is just too hindered by his own trauma to do so, which isn't his fault, either - just the tragedy of the narrative).
tl;dr: shen jiu's "chance" was not really a chance at all.
this might just be a tiktok issue but every time i see someone say “shen jiu deserved a chance at happiness!” i explode. he had many. his entire life he could’ve made different decisions, he could’ve just not abused lbh, or spoken to yqy, but he never did. that’s his whole thing. he’s even aware of it, it’s like his WHOLE final speech in the extras. he would NEVER EVER take a chance at being better/happy, hes far too comfortable in his own misery, he has absolutely no idea what to do without it. and he doesn’t want to find out either. THATS THE WHOLE POINT. it’s what makes him such a good character, because he’s realistic in his principles. he doesn’t just hate the antagonist, he hates literally fucking everything and everyone, especially himself. makes me scream idk lmao
#shen jiu#meta#fandom Please learn the difference between woobification and acknowledging that someone does very bad things and their behaviour is#detrimental and self sabotaging#BUT it's not bc they 'love being miserable' but bc they're actually a realistic portrayal of a person with extreme trauma#again: not woobifying or excusing child abuse#if u read that into this that's your problem

what are your top 10 bingqiu fics?
Note: These are not in any particular order of preference because I can't possibly rank these, I love them all so much.
High Mountain, How I Long by Minimalistness: This fic is just...beautifully done. The author portrays the emotions so deeply on both sides and it hurts in the very best way, yet the ending is so soft and treats the characters so gently...gahh. Only good things to say about this one.
System Restore by Straightforwardly: Short but excellent. I need more fics centered around SQQ just absolutely overwhelming Binghe with affection because that shit is A++.
you don't need poltergeists for sidekicks by nyoomer: This fic honestly made me cry, every part of it is perfect. The ending is slightly bittersweet but ends on a very hopeful note and it's just all-around an incredible story.
Plastromancy by x_los: Creepy in the best way, if you like Coraline you will adore this fic. Warning for body horror-- it's not too graphic, but definitely present. Does a very good job of portraying the monstrous edge to LBH's devotion.
to love another (and to learn yourself) by nyoomer: yet another fantastic fic by nyoomer (all their fics are fantastic tbh), starring OG!LBH and SY. Wonderful study on redemption, forgiveness, and trying to be better. The character development in this fic is fantastic and I love the way SY stands up to Bingge in this one.
Scum Villain AUs by Feynite: A collection of SVSSS mini-fics, as the name suggests. Honestly all these AUs are super creative and well-written but my favorites are the supervillain, genderbend, and dragon monster AUs.
How to stop being strung along by a guy and get what you deserve by x-los: Another amazing fic by one of my favorite authors. Red string of fate soulmates AU and I adore the potential implications here. LBH figuring out who SQQ is immediately and helping him adjust to the PIDW world? Yes please. My only complaint for this fic is that there isn't more of it.
Unfinished Business by kitsunealyc: Basically SJ dies and is reincarnated as SY (where he gets some much needed therapy) and then reincarnates back as SQQ, and tries his best to stop the whole generational trauma thing in its tracks. The whole redemption and healing process is done so, so well done here. I usually don't like OG!LBH/OG!SQQ fics but in this one they both go through so much character development (and besides, SQQ and SY are the same person here). Also, this has one of my favorite lines in a fanfic ever-- "In hate or in love, if Shen Qingqiu placed second in Luo Binghe's esteem, no one would dare to claim first." Like?? Literary genius.
but every day still new to wake up by millepertuis: This fic has it all-- humor, wholesome moments, denial, thirst (on Binghe's part-- SQQ is, of course, oblivious), hurt/comfort. I lost this fic once and spent over 2 hours trying to find it again and it was worth every bit of that time.
To Conquer an Emperor by zarasu: SY transmigrates into one of LBH's wives. I think this fic gets better as it progresses and I love the concept (Rachel for Leah by x_los is the other SY reincarnates into one of LBH's wives fic that I really love) and the character development for LBH is excellent. Also the latest chapter? LBH's self-loathing and self-doubt meets SY's unconditional acceptance? Yes please.
BONUS:
Sit With Your Soul by Tossawary: Not bingqiu but this is one of my top 3 svsss fics ever, basically it's a daemon!AU where SY transmigrates into SJ's daemon. The focus is on platonic SY/SJ but SY's interactions with LBH in this fic are adorable as well. One of my favorite characterizations of SJ.
#svsss#fic rec#also if you’ve read any of these fics please come talk to me about them#seriously I want someone to talk about svsss with

This AU of an AU shouldn’t even exist, and yet, have some crime LBH and SJ quite literally fighting over SY.
Shen Jiu is going to kill Luo Binghe. It will happen. Not now, but someday. Soon.
He bites his tongue until it bleeds when the beast shoves his knee harder into his back. “Have you learned your lesson, or are we going another round? Your choice. I wouldn’t mind breaking a few of your bones. I’ll just tell Shizun you attacked me first and I was just defending myself. We both know who he’ll believe.”
“I’ll kill you. I swear I’ll kill you.”
This time, when Luo Binghe dislocates his shoulder, he can’t smother his cry. “I suggest you don’t try. If you make a serious attempt, I’ll have to respond in kind, and Shizun will be sad.”
If only he could get his hand on the gun Luo Binghe shoved away, he would put a bullet between his eyes before the monster could mention his brother again. “He’ll be upset when he finds your body, but he’ll get over it soon enough. You’re not worth mourning.”
Luo Binghe pulls out a knife, pressing the blade through Shen Jiu’s fine clothes and into his back, careful not to push deep enough to kill. “Are you going to take his mind away from me by fucking him? It hasn’t worked very well until now, has it?”
Shen Jiu freezes. Shen Yuan can’t have told him. He’s bluffing. “You’re a sick fuck.”
Luo Binghe laughs. “Me? I’m not the one sleeping with my twin. How did you manage that, anyway? I can’t blame you for wanting Shizun, anyone with sense would, but he’s so principled when he feels like it. Did you blackmail him?”
“Did you? You call him Shizun. He considered you his student, almost his son. He’s not the one who made the first move, that’s for certain.”
The knife digs deeper into his back, but Shen Jiu is the one who struck a nerve. “Shizun is mine. You’ll never have him again.”
“You’ll never call him yours. You’ll be dead before you know it.”
“I’ll bend him over your coffin.”
There has to be some way Shen Jiu can get himself out of this situation. Fuck, why does Qi-ge never show up when Shen Jiu needs him? If Luo Binghe was distracted even for a second, Shen Jiu would steal that knife away from Luo Binghe and stake him through the heart. “Why are you even here? Came to declare war? Too late for that, mongrel. You’ve already lost it, you just don’t know it yet.”
“Quite the reverse, in fact. I came here to announce my engagement. To Shizun, obviously. I wanted to tell my brother-in-law myself, do things properly. Shizun deserves it.”
“No.”
He can’t see the beast’s smile, but he must be grinning. “Oh yes. We’ll tie it up with an alliance between our families. It will be good for us both.” The knife slides up his back, closer to his left shoulder now. “We wouldn’t want you to ruin this for everyone, now would we? So this is my warning: fuck off and never put a hand on Shen Yuan again, or it will be the last thing you ever do.”
If Luo Binghe leaves scars on him, Shen Jiu will rip his own skin off. “Over your dead body.” This isn’t happening. It can’t.
Shen Jiu is sure he can get his parents to oppose, not to mention most of their allies and underlings. It’ll be nothing to him to spin this into Luo Binghe arranging a hostile takeover, taking advantage of Shen Yuan’s better nature to try and disturb the family’s hold on the city. Not to mention throw doubt on Luo Binghe’s actual parentage. How convenient that the orphan his brother was too weak to get rid of ended up being Tianlang-Jun’s only son?
“I wasn’t asking for your permission. It is happening. You can accept it, or you can die. In the meantime-“
There's a knock on the door. “Boss? Everything worked out?”
“Yes. You can come in now.”
Shen Jiu tenses as fucking Mobei-Jun walks into his quarters like there was nothing strange in the spectacle that was Shen Jiu, disarmed and bloody, Luo Binghe holding him in place with his own weight, while Mobei-Jun himself his keeping his gun aimed at Shen Jiu’s forehead.
“Now, I think I have made my point.” The knife leaves his skin, but not before twisting a last time in the wound. “I’m going to go now. If you move a millimetre away from the spot where you are right now, Mobei-Jun will shoot you dead. Shizun will be told you reacted very badly to my announcement, and I’ll soothe his pain myself until he can’t even remember your name. So stay put.”
Shen Jiu has never been this humiliated in his life. Not only Luo Binghe, Mobei-Jun will also have to die. So will everyone that knew of this event. “You’re a dead man walking.”
Luo Binghe doesn’t bother to look back as he leaves. “I’ll make sure Shizun feel how alive I am later. Goodbye, Brother-in-law.”
Exhausted, bleeding and more furious than he’s ever been, Shen Jiu calls Yue Qingyuan. Luo Binghe wants to start a war? He’ll have one.

people tend to forget that PIDW Binghe was a blackened stallion novel protagonist. He probably did so much worse than Shen Jiu. That's the point. He's a parallel of Shen Jiu through and through except this time he went over the line and lost his humanity. Stallion novels are about powerplay. Being able to do what you want with no consequences that's why PIDW readers loved Bingge. Bingge is a power fantasy of the readers. Bec everything in the novel was in his POV, it all seemed correct (1/2)
but in reality, Bingge was most likely a tyrant of sorts. Shen Yuan at the states it too. "The male lead of this novel, Luo Binghe, was neither the heroic, invincible-out-of-the-gate type, nor the loser, without-redeeming-qualities type, yet had managed to trend with tens of thousands of readers on Zhongdian Literature, influencing countless male fantasy novels afterwards to follow in its footsteps. He was the dark, vicious type." from BC Novels. Shen Jiu was bad but Bingge was way over the line
Yes! We’re not supposed to see Bing-ge’s actions towards SJ as justified or heroic; it’s a horrifying deed, and the fact that SJ deserved a punishment doesn’t make what happened to him any less awful. I think SV does a very good job of showing how things like that in fiction are okay because it’s a power fantasy and no one’s getting hurt, but SY (and if memory serves SQH too, although that might be from a fic I read, I don’t remember) is horrified at the idea that the things Bing-ge did might happen to characters who in this world are just... living people. With SJ a good chunk of that comes from the fact it might now happen to him, but he still seems very aware that the events he enjoyed or rolled his eyes over in the novel are now terrifyingly real. Bing-ge was the “good guy” because it was a stallion novel told from his perspective; that doesn’t make him the good guy in general.
