Here's my attempt at a Lenora redesign, taking in mind your and sharonz-arty-corner03's advice. While I had to finish this in a bit of a rush, I tried to take all the time I could to properly depict her Black features. If there is something to improve in that regard I would love your input!

Lenora's original design is infamous due to resembling the mammy stereotype, perhaps more noticeable in her big apron (in fact, that got changed for overseas release, and future apparitions). Even without that, her original design can be a bit confusing, as without context, some have thought she's a chef for example, when in fact Lenora is a museum director and archaeologist! So, I wanted her design to reflect that. She tends to be inside the museum doing director work, so I wanted to go with that.

Turns out, there isn't a rigid consensus on museum uniform etiquette, especially directors. But something formal and cool felt like a must... And I remembered I read somewhere that Lenora's partly based off Pam Grier. And I remembered that scene in Jackie Brown where she's wearing a stunning black office suit with a white shirt with big lapels underneath, and thought it could fit Lenora very well! I did take some liberties and stuck with her canon clothes' pallete for now. Oh and, to me personally, when I think of museum staff attire I think of lanyards with identifications on them, hence I gave her one, too! I don't know if directors need one but it feels very visual.

I have seen people comparing her canon headband with mammies' so I took that out in case it could still be in bad taste. I went with a full afro, keeping a young Pam Grier in the back of my mind lol.

Lastly, I looked up Black archaeologists and/or museum directors for inspiration, so I wanted to share some of my finds in case someone is interested: First, the website for the Society of Black Archaeologists. It has a major focus on endorsing the respect of African and African Diaspora material culture, and to of course, highlight the efforts of archaeologists of African descent! They have some articles and even podcasts. I really liked their interview of Dr. Peggy Brunache, a Haitian-American archaeologist. Second, Kinshasha Holman Conwill (her resume is too long to list here, but she's pivotal for some very important Black culture museums in the US) and lastly Kimberly Camp (museum leader and amazing doll artist.)

Nice! It's clear you put a lot of time and research into this design! I actually kind of liked her headband, I wear headbands all the time lmao. It added color. But all right. I do think that she could use a little more color in her palette; maybe an orange and yellow flower, if not the headband.

So I forgot to post this. Lmao I finished this a month ago (January 30th) and was really proud of it but also tired because holyyyy shit this took days.

I went insane over the background. My first idea didn't work and I put wayyyy too much effort into my second idea, this. Originally I was going to do Triangle Park but couldn't really find anywhere to place her and then thought of Mount Wildwood's stairs while in the shower and wrote in down in my notes app to do.

Shout out to my friend's who saw me literally about to cry in dining hall over this. Any differences from canon are because of poor refs I was using and I was too stubborn to ask for help until nearly done oopsy. My only background refs for days were low quality screenshots from YouTube, my 3DS, and a switch screenshot from the wiki until I finally stopped being stubborn and asked a sever if anyone had the 4th game and could send me screenshots and holy shit it got so much easier.

This both reminded me why I love drawing detailed backgrounds and why I don't do them often. I noticed quickly how much of the background would be covered but also decided I still wanted to do it. Maybe I could reuse it one day idk

I made a few personal edits to Katie's design here. Why? Because I can lol. Longer bow is a mix of stylization and I just like drawing it, the bow having a yellow gradient because I thought it was cute, brown to green eyes because in 2020 I couldn't decide whether I liked drawing Kenny with brown or green eyes and started drawing him with full heterochromia to do both I decided to refrence that by giving Katie partial heterochromia, zip up instead of button up is a mix of the buttons got covered and they were annoying to draw, bracele is the button colors because they were cute but I was not drawing those damn buttons and I noticed it could be a friendship bracelet with pink for Katie, blue for Bear, green for Eddie, and white for Nate because almost all of his outfits have a white star, stitched heart on hoodie cause I think she's a DIY girl and she's also like 11 so it's not perfect, freckles I just thought they were really cute and I love freckles I wish I had them irl, and lastly any changes to hair are stylization or just because I can like the ahoge.

I'm still really proud of this. Included background without Katie because she covers most of it lol.

Tannyhill was suffocating lately.

The house was too big, too empty, yet somehow it still felt like the walls were closing in. You moved through the darkened hallways with quiet steps, the weight of the air pressing down on your chest. It smelled like old money and cologne, but beneath it was something sharper—something sour.

Rafe’s door was cracked open, the glow from his bedside lamp spilling into the hallway. You hesitated for a second, but then your fingers wrapped around the handle, pushing it open.

The room was a mess.

Clothes strewn across the floor, drawers left open like he had torn through them looking for something. His nightstand was cluttered with half-empty water bottles, a forgotten pack of cigarettes, and something else—something white, dusting the surface like residue.

And Rafe—

Rafe was sitting on the edge of his bed, his skin slick with sweat. His hands were clasped together, elbows digging into his knees, his fingers tapping an uneven rhythm against each other.

You exhaled softly, stepping inside.

He didn’t look at you.

“Rafe.”

His fingers twitched, his knee bouncing rapidly. He dragged a hand over his face, inhaling sharply through his nose. “I told you not to come.”

“You didn’t mean that."

His lips parted like he was going to argue, but he just exhaled harshly instead, shaking his head. His gaze flickered to you then, and the way his eyes looked under the dim light—blown wide, almost feverish—made your stomach twist.

“You’re just gonna leave...” he muttered.

The words caught you off guard.

“What?”

He scoffed, his jaw tightening. “You heard me.”

Your throat felt tight. “Rafe, I’m not—”

“Everyone fucking does,” he cut you off. “So don’t sit there and pretend like you won’t.”

There was something ugly in his voice, something bitter and sharp that scraped against your ribs.

You took a step closer, but his foot stopped bouncing. His whole body went rigid, like he was bracing himself for a hit.

Your chest ached.

“I’m not leaving you,” you whispered.

His eyes snapped to yours again, searching, dissecting. He looked so exhausted, but so wired at the same time, like his body couldn’t decide whether it wanted to collapse or explode.

His fingers curled into fists, then relaxed again. “You don’t get it.”

“Then help me understand.”

He exhaled through his nose, tilting his head back slightly. His throat bobbed, muscles flexing. Then, suddenly, he stood up.

You forced yourself not to take a step back.

He didn’t touch you. His presence alone was suffocating, overwhelming.

“You think you can just waltz in here and fix me?” His voice was quiet, but laced with something dangerous.

“That’s not—”

“You can’t,” he cut you off, and this time his voice broke just a little. Just enough for you to hear it.

“You’re not a fucking savior,” he murmured, gaze flickering over your face like he was memorizing it. “You should’ve given up on me a long time ago.”

You shook your head. “I—”

He reached out then, his fingers brushing against your wrist, barely touching, but it still sent a shiver down your spine.

Rafe’s stare was unblinking, almost too still, but you could see the way his fingers twitched at his sides. Like he was holding something in.

You should’ve expected the explosion when it came.

“You know what?” His voice was quieter now, but somehow worse. “Maybe you should go.”

Your stomach dropped. “What—”

“No, really,” he scoffed, running a hand through his already-messy hair. “Maybe you should stop wasting your fucking time here and go back to him.”

Your brows furrowed. “Rafe, what the hell are you talking about?”

“You think I don’t see it?” His voice was rising now, sharp and jagged, like a blade. “You think I don’t fucking notice when you’re always with Topper now?”

You took a step back before you could stop yourself, and that—that made something in his expression shift.

“You’re scared of me,” he muttered, more to himself than you. “I fucking knew it.”

“Rafe, I’m not scared of you.”

“Then why are you acting like it?” His voice cracked, his breath coming heavier.

You swallowed hard, forcing yourself to hold your ground. “I don’t know what you think is going on, but—”

“You’ve been with him more than me.” His chest rose and fell in quick bursts. “Every time I call, you’re busy. Every time I look for you, you’re with him.”

“That’s not true—”

“Then where were you last night?”

Your breath hitched.

Rafe let out a dry laugh, but it didn’t sound amused. It sounded wrecked.

“Yeah,” he murmured, shaking his head. “That’s what I thought.”

You exhaled sharply. “I was home.”

“With him.”

“No, Rafe!” Your voice came out more desperate than you intended. “I wasn’t with him. I wasn’t—”

“But you could’ve been.” His eyes were wild now, dark and unreadable. “You want to be.”

Your stomach churned. “That’s not true.”

“You don’t have to lie to me, kid,” he sneered, but it wasn’t playful. It was cold. “Just fucking admit it.”

Your heart pounded. “There’s nothing to admit.”

His jaw clenched. Then, just like that—

His hand shot out, grabbing the lamp off his nightstand, and before you could even react, he threw it.

It hit the wall with a sharp crack, glass shattering, the light flickering once before going out completely. The room plunged into partial darkness, but you could still see the way his chest heaved, his knuckles white from how hard his fists were clenched.

Your breath came fast, heart slamming against your ribs.

He dragged a hand down his face, exhaling shakily before his fingers curled into his hair, tugging hard. “Fuck.”

You didn’t move.

For a second, neither did he.

Then, in one sharp motion, he swept an arm across his nightstand, sending everything crashing to the floor—bottles, cigarettes, that white residue smearing across the hardwood like dust.

You flinched. He noticed.

And for a moment, something in his expression cracked.

But he didn’t apologize.

He just stared at you, something dark and almost desperate behind his eyes, like he wanted to break something else.

Maybe even himself.

“You should’ve left,” he muttered, voice raw.

But you didn’t.

I've been playing through Amphoreus slowly but surely and it's been a fun ride, although some things are..... truly, just your typical hoyoverse grievances.

Have these little guys.

Running and open water are often described as "dark as wine" or "black" in ancient greek texts. That is why I decided to make Castorice's hair long and black, flowing, like a river. A reference to River Styx if you will. She still dyes the ends purple and keeps her make-up light despite the obvious rot creeping up her neck— she wants to be lively and beautiful, you see.

Hyacine in my mind is a warrior cleric of Aquila. Her headpiece is a reference to the winged victory of Samothrace. I placed Athena's owl on her earrings and brooch, kind of like what some drachmas look like. Her hair is made to be flowy and white in the ends, kind of like a cloud. She's knowledgeable, she's a warrior, and she's a little bird.

Aglaea and Anaxa are from the same generation in my mind and both of them are older than most of the rest. They look the part. Anaxagoras is a cynical little recluse with fragile health and a sickly constitution, that spends his days holed up in the Grove. My man hasn't seen the sun in years.

Aglaea is beautiful and regal and the age only makes her be even more so.

I think this might be a good starting point for my new blog, I have a draft with my main farmer's actual profile, but this will be really helpful for me too! <3 I'll start this post by showing you how she looked 2 irl days ago, I've finally been able to get the blue bow since so that's a bonus! (I'll try to get a screenshot of that as well!) I wanted to dye her skirt to match the overall part of the shirt, but I think it ended up leaning more towards a greyish blue if something. (I'll show what it would look irl as a funfact, since I found a pic on pinterest that looked pretty similar!) I also got the longer skirt recently but I must say I like the short one better. My game is currently on fall (almost winter) so I decided to keep the long one on for now. Btw, I've realised the eyes look blue as well, they're supposed to be grey... Is this a sign that I'm going blind? lol Btw my current icon is supposed to be her too!

Introduction:

Since I wanted for my main farmer to be based on me, I decided to name her Luna. "Luna" means "moon", it's like my signature thing. I love everything universe/galaxy/moon/stars related. On the other side, it sounds like a witchy name so I felt it would fit too. (I hate my irl name so that one wasn't an option.)

Keeping in mind that she's supposed to look like me, and giving you the earlier pic as an example, let's say she's pale and short, with grey eyes and short curly hair that she dyes black (and pressumably straightens just by brushing it), with a round face that a certain guy likes to compare with the full moon (lore-wise, lmao)

I'd say the witch hat, *insert the IF I HAD ONE meme*, but since I haven't gotten that one yet, I'm not sure. Let's say the blue bow for now!

It's supposed to be a mix between blue, dark, cold and earthy tones with witchy and cottagecore vibes, somehow? I wouldn't know how to put it into words tbh

I'd say laying on the bed while petting her (ghost) cat, thinking back to the social interactions she might have gone through that day, feeling anxious or embarrassed for most of them or shy if they involve a certain guy... But her cat won't hesitate to make her calm down, to feel at peace, trying to protect her from the bad thoughts.

I'm not good at cooking (I don't know how to do anything at all, sad lmao) so she isn't either. I haven't gotten that far on the cooking part of the game though, I do know I've already unlocked a lot of recipes but I've barely checked them, oops. I'd say cookies or pancakes!

Rainy! You don't have to water the crops nor the pet's bowl and if you struggle like me when it comes to remember about doing so, it's really helpful. However, just like I do irl, I HATE the thunders and lightnings.

Farm Life:

Chaos. Chaos everywhere. I'm about to finish year 2 but it still looks pretty basic. I recently tried to get rid of all the wood and rocks laying on the ground, as well as a lot of trees so it's not good yet. Going back to her aesthetic, I guess I'll try to follow the dark cottagecore witch theme.

The grey and white cat, his name is Yuki (as in "winter") and lore-wise he's supposed to be grandpa's wild late cat (he didn't really own him), poor boy passed away a little bit after grandpa did, waiting for him to come back since he didn't really know he couldn't, still waiting to this day... But he's gotten really attached to Luna, feeling a stronger connection with her than the one he felt with grandpa.

Once again, Yuki. I don't even want to get any more pets for her, he's really special to me. However, I'd love to get a black cat since those are my favorite type, but I'd still have to think about how that could fit lore-wise.

If by cabin we mean the extra houses, yes but no. One of them is currently my storage room, really basic. I think the other one still has the starting decor. I struggle with getting money lol. (I hate that you can't pick up the presents though)

 Let's beging with the ones I ABSOLUTELY HATE so far, the stupid serpents are number 1, they were the reason I "died" most of the times on the Skull Cavern. The other one so far would be the slimes. As for the one I like... I'll say mummies because they seem to drop a lot of cool stuff AND CLOTH! And aesthetic/lore wise so far, I'll say ghosts :D

If that means they won't be aggressive nor attack anyone anymore (including animals) I think she would. I'd say bats, skeletons, ghosts and those shadow guys.

Relationships Platonic and Romantic:

Ignoring that certain guy, sweet Evelyn (I love her, I see her as both mine and Luna's pixel grandma, I guess she just reminds me of my irl one somehow), Krobus lore-wise but he's still scared of me in-game, the Wizard (but he still hates me, although that's kinda canon lore-wise too lmao) and maybe Linus, I don't usually interact with him that much but I love him, his lore-wise story gets somehow deeper so that adds to my love for him.

Maybe Maru, Harvey, Jas and Marnie? Abigail's hearts are pretty high too but there's a reason behind that (she's Luna's ex), although they aren't as close as they used to be anymore. I'm still trying to level up everyone's but specially those I like the most, bad thing is I'm usually doing my own thing so I forget about that.

Alex for the win. He recently told me something about how you need to tan on the beach, otherwise I'll end up looking like milk (I'M ALREADY PALE AS FUCK WITH A SUN ALLERGY AND SENSITIVE SKIN ALEX), to follow up by saying how much he'd like to see me on a swimsuit. He didn't even know my name earlier today. I LOVE to check the trash cans while he's around <3 Besides him, I'll say Clint and Lewis. I almost died yesterday because of the underwear monster btw

Well, well, well (I say while looking at that well I made Robin build for me on my first days just to use it twice since)... I fell in love with Abigail a few years ago while watching a gameplay of Stardew Valley (for the first time) from an art youtuber I love. You could say it was love at first sight. I used to love her, I loved looking at fanart of her too. But Tumblr made me fall in love with Shane. I'll mention (but not tag) the main reason I fell for him, being this artist who happens to love both him and making comics about him and her farmer. I haven't been able to stop the obsession for him ever since *sigh* Tumblr and Pinterest are dangerous places, kids

For Abigail, she's a lot of things I like. From witchy stuff, to gothic, to hair-dye, videogames, amethysts, SHE OWNS A GUINEA PIG, she's weird like me (I love women too lmao)... For Shane, I wouldn't know. It's a mix of things I've gotten to love about him from each piece of fanart I've seen for the most part. As a fun fact, going back to that gameplay I was talking about, the youtuber hated him because he was really mean to her so I still hated him too even when I first started to play the game, like 2 years ago. However, I feel like I/Luna was attracted to her on a more aesthetic/superficial level but I think it's different with Shane. (ignoring the fact that all of them are pixels) I genuinely care about him, I want him to get healthy, to feel and get better (for him to begin with, for Marnie and specially Jas as well), to learn that even if he thinks no one does, there's people who deeply love and care about him, that he deserves happiness too. That he- *sigh* Okay, I'll stop now, this is getting too long of a reply.

Spoilers! Emily's dressing-up thingie (I honestly thought punk Shane was just a random thing/meme though! omg!!). Shane's 2, first-7 and 8 heart event maybe. There are more but I have memory issues so I'd have to look it up as well.

Shane's 6 heart event for the win. His 4 heart event too. Emily's 6 heart event so far as well, don't ask me on that one though :) There might be more, but once again, I'm bad at remembering stuff :'D

Krobus plushie! I'd say the junimos too but I think that's actually a thing. Maybe a WIzard's journal too? Like, both a empty notebook type with his aesthetic and something like either the Gravity Falls or Star vs The Forces of Evil one (there's apparently another one with spells too just like in the show though??), talking about his wizard life, the magical languages he's learn (with its actual alphabet for you to have fun with it just like in the Geronimo Stilton fantasy kingdom series!, monsters, etc.

You make jokes about her naming her firstborn after you. You're destined to lose her. One day your whole world will be gone, all your friends and family, and it will just be you and some stranger who came to rescue you because it was written down. It's all any of you have ever known. You will marry a boy born a century after you. But you see the way she smiles when you guys talk about your future, so you keep it down. It's what your parents expect, what your friends want, what the world is telling you is the right thing to do. You swallow down the apprehension and fear and eventually it becomes so easy it's second nature.

Then something changes. A girl says this isn't how things have to be. Maybe this isn't even how things are supposed to be. And you're angry, because you've been playing this stupid part your whole life and it's as bad as hers, so why can't she just fall in line? Can't she see the pain she's causing everyone (the pain she's causing your best friend)?

You try to make things right. You tell people that the girl is wrong, that things aren't meant to change, that everything is fine. You do everything you can to make your best friend feel better, you push down your own thoughts on the situation because they're not what's important right now. Your opinion has always waited in second, it clearly can now too, right?

Right?

But you can't stop thinking about that day. The sound of the page tearing. At the time it sounded like something horrible, like something disgusting and forbidden and scary. But you keep going back to it. You keep thinking of what would happen if you did the same. If you didn't have to leave your friends behind. If the terrible future you'd resigned yourself to your whole life wasn't as inevitable as it once seemed. The sound of the tearing page begins to sound like freedom.

Your best friend doesn't get it. She thinks you're being selfish and erratic and crazy. You push each other away. Of course she didn't understand. She never thought about things like that. Never thought about you like that.

Things keep changing. More people say they haven't been happy with the way things are. Your other best friend says she's in love with a boy she's not supposed to be in love with, and you start to realise that things are more broken than they seemed.

You go to Wonderland. You made a mistake, a big one, but you're trying to fix it. Things are still awkward between you and your best friend. She still thinks you're wrong. But she accepts that she can't change your mind, and you guys are beginning to admit that, even though things can't go back to how they were, maybe you can still have a future together. Maybe you don't have to lose her after all.
