One of the more fascinating examples of fandom’s faves-based morality I’ve personally encountered recently was the number of people in the Mon Mothma tag who were absolutely BURNING with righteous fury at her 13-year-old daughter in Andor, when the worst things we have actually seen said character do are (1) be kind of a little shit to her mom (again, she’s thirteen) and (2) fall victim to a space tradwife cult. You know, because she’s thirteen. And has a pretty self-evidently lonely and unpleasant home life. And lives directly in the rotten beating ideological heart of space fascism.

The number of people vocally wishing punishment on a fictional tween was WILD. I unfollowed that tag after ~48 hours lol

The best part of the episode was the 5 minutes we spent with Ash and Pikachu before the stupid Latias appeared. Add that one to the pokemon I now hate because of the anime..

Man, I'm still bitter those 10 episodes weren't focused on Ash and his Pokemon only. It would've been the absolute best way to use those 10 episodes (and still reach the same conclusion Mezamas as it is reached), why couldn't Ash ever be alone with his mons? He can be enjoyable if the writers tried. Sigh

At least Buizel is here ♥ Also it was adorable to see Noivern and Sceptile in security duty while everyone else slept! Babies! However I'm sad Buizel and Donphan didn't go to cuddle with AshPika and Latias ù3ú

What was the point of all the drama about "Ash's pokemon not being able to attack TR because it could hurt him" when... Pikachu just went and... did just that? (also, Noivern going there and breaking the glass would've hurt Ash less??????) I get they needed "Ash suicidal tendencies make him likeable" moment but gosh, it could've been done better, for sure.

And you know, mandatory Dawn mention, but it's kinda poetic that both Ash and Dawn got done dirty in their final moments because of some stupid legendaries. They're trully one and the same. Even in shitty writing decisions from anipoke staff LMAO

Satoshi VS Kasumi! Seaside One-on-One!!

I know that Misty's metaphor about how her and Clauncher are meant to be is an obvious Pokeshipping hint, of course it is! I know that! but...

Not to sound like a conspiracy theorist but the fact Pikachu ignored Psyduck for Misty, and Clauncher didn't seem at all to reciprocate Misty's feelings is... interesting... Added to that how Ash just replaced her lure with Cilan's is.. Almost like adding to her own metaphor, that while Misty still has feelings for Ash and believes that they're meant to be, because of fate, because she is the "OG twerpette" like TR called her, Ash himself is like.. Pikachu to Psyduck and Clauncher to her. Neutral at most, and with someone else having their favoritism.

And y´know, it's even more interesting that at the beggining of Sinnoh Ash still had her lure (and was protective of it) and immediately after Sinnoh he changed her lure for Cilan's. I sure wonder what happened between those events for him- It's Dawn! its Dawn that happened!

Shipping aside, I adore seeing episodes with the general same plot but with different characters. Compare this to the Buneary catch and it's really interesting to see just how different Ash acts with Misty and Dawn about the same thing. Him and Misty have a battle about who is gonna get it, which does makes sense, they will resolve all their arguments with battles instead of actual talking and I adore that trait of their relationship~

And even Misty's disappointment at the end, that Clauncher still likes hanging with Corphish is very different than Dawn bringing up her closeness with Ash to win Buneary over. I love those sort of similar episodes, it's great to understand how each character thinks.

Gosh, even comparing to Totodile's catch shows how Misty and Ash themselves have become closer and more understanding of eachother! In here they make rules about how to catch Clauncher instead of fighting the whole time, it's a nice showcase of how they've grown! I'm just sad that Totodile was in this episode and no one mentioned the similarities :T

Also I will never get tired of Pikachu's "Pikachupi"! Ikue Otani does it in the cutest voice and I just want to squeeze the rat's cheeks every time he says it!!!

Speaking of Pikachu, I love that at the very least in those 10 episodes he went back to having some hint of a personality since he hadn't shown much of it for... a long time before it (and remembered the names of the people he cares for. I was so angry at the lack of "Pikapi" in Alola).

Same goes for TR, is nice to see their motto being animated instead of some re-used footage. One of the things that made their apparitions enjoyable in OG-DP was that they always added some personality to it. That was fun to see again.

Finny the Lumineon - he’s been with me for as long as I can remember (as you can tell by the name). He’s very important to me. There was a period where we were separated due to personal issues, but it’s all good now :)

Toto the Ditto - yes it’s a real ditto. No I didn’t steal it. It was my first pokemon I caught on my journey, and no I am not lying. It’s also my service mon!

Blimp the Drifblim - we met on my journey when I got lost late at night, they found me and led me to a pokemon center. I’m still not sure if he was trying to whisk me away like the pokedex claims, but we’ve been inseparable ever since!

Lily the Lilligant - I got Lily as a petilil from my brother who was going through an international trading phase at the time. I don’t think there’s a single mon on his team native to Sinnoh, LMAO. Lily is very sweet, she loves gardening!

Ember the Rapidash - I had a horse girl moment on my journey. Though I’m pretty sure every trainer with a rapidash can say the same. I don’t really ride her anymore, my back can’t handle it, but she loves racing and eating from Lily’s garden when she isn’t looking.

Baby the Blissey - baby is my baby!!! I got her as an egg on my journey and the others helped raise her. She’s very gentle and stubborn. She will convince Blimp to hit me with Hypnosis if I stay up too late. I love her though. Edit: she's also Toto's daughter

Jellybean the Frillish - Jellybean is disabled from Team Calm's Ultra Domesticated (UD) experiments, and also happens to be intersex. She can't battle, as she can barely move even in water, so she's very much a house mon! I'm trying to teach her emotional independence - it's a work in progress.

And oughfhfhf villain Geeta my beloved holy shit can you imagine Geeta meeting her alt self, and she's there w RR maybe, or in her office at the league, and this is so so so fucking self indulgent on my part bc I have this lil au abt Geeta and Diantha as well, but like,,,, ough,,,,, imagine Alt Geeta smirking at Geeta tho, telling her how Diantha died, how her angel fell from grace, how her screams echoed within the chambers, how she was killed by a pack of Houndoom. Geeta couldn't fucking believe what she fucking heard man, her own hands were shaking like crazy, the want to punch and go batshit on Alt Geeta fucking flared, and Alt Geeta was there going, "what are you so mad about? If anything, we took her away from that incompetent dragon tamer she calls her husband." Then she mutters under her breath, "unfortunately, even in her final moments she still chose him."

And ofc, Geeta's there telling Alt that Diantha didn't deserve that, she didn't deserve to die, none of them deserves to die. Then Alt Geeta gives her this dark af glare as she stands from her seat, stalking towards Geeta, almost growling, "if I can't have her then no one can."

Imagine how that mustve been for Diantha tho, hearing from Drasna how her alt self was killed, how it was Geeta who killed her, and it's by a pack of Houndoom, can you imagine how hurt Dia must've been w that tho, how much it'll fuck her up, bc she knows its not her Geeta who did it, it's the one in this universe, but man she knows she just fucking knows she entrusted the same three people about that trauma of hers, about her past: Drasna, Geeta, and Lance. Teh (ITSAY + IPYTM) // I know, not technically a BL, but he just resonated with me so much. 🥺

Ae (Love by Chance) // So actually Saint is my fave Thai actor but Ae as a character is just so amazing. He’s just so grounded and matter-of-fact about everything (until Pete leaves but we do not talk about this).

Meen (Fish upon the Sky) // Meen is naive and annoying entirely by choice and doesn’t want anyone to change him. I love that about him because I too am naive and annoying.

Pharawee (Gen Y) //  Okay listen, hear me out. Technically Gen Y is, uhm, not a very good show and Pha as a whole is not a very good character. BUT THE POTENTIAL. The power this character wielded through all of season 1 without being shown on screen until the very end. And the way they could have used all of this for some seriously good storytelling if they hadn’t completely thrown him under the bus. Starhunter, you owe me a show w Big Thanakorn as the main protagonist. I’m waiting.

Toh (SCOY) // The way Toh started out thinking he could never ever measure up to Nuea and so he resorted to collecting things and photos because that’s the only way he could be somewhat close to him... yeah, the way he went about this is not okay in rl but this is a show that’s deliberately way over the top. Anyway, Toh deserves everything and the way Seng portrays him is 👌😩

P much everyone in Don’t Say No has impeccable taste imo but Fiat’s red suit really stood out for me. Apparently in reality it’s not exactly that shade of warm red which was somewhat disappointing.

Also, not a BL character but Mile Phakphum (and Bas Suradej, too?) is really selling those flared 70s trousers. I wasn’t ready for them to make a comeback but he singlehandedly convinced me otherwise.

so i'm thinking of reading some star wars novels and i'm pretty sure i've seen you talking about them so do you have any recs or instructions on how to read them? there's just so many. also ignore this if i'm totally wrong lmao

i love star wars novels sm!!! here's my very long breakdown under the readmore.

for starters, there are two main types of books

canon: anything published after disney purchased star wars. first canon book was released in 2014. occasionally small details from the books are retconned by new tv shows/movies but everything else is considered canon.

legends: anything published before disney purchased star wars in 2012. not canon but the new content often takes ideas from these books. before disney took over, there weren’t many rules for star wars books, so a lot of legends books contradict each other.

i’d also say it’s important to note that the canon YA books are usually on par with the adult books, so don’t skip them!

i mostly read the canon books so that’s what i’ll focus on but there are some gr8 legends books out there, and you’re way more likely to find legends books at your local used bookstore.

as for the correct order, some people might read them by following the in-universe timeline but that’s definitely not necessary!

here are some of my favs / good ones to start with!

lost stars by claudia gray. follows two kids from a small outer rim planet that bond over flying and eventually join the imperial academy as pilots. it’s the /perfect/ starting spot because its centered around the original trilogy with an atmosphere + events we know, but with OCs who allow us to get a new POV….and there are small cameos from some gr8 characters. it’s a BRICK but i finished it in like 24 hrs bc i couldn’t put it down.

leia: princess of alderaan by claudia gray. maybe i’m biased bc i’m super interested in the formation of the rebellion and the organas are my favorite family, but this book is so well done. it follows 16 yr old leia as she juggles being a junior senator + a princess. she also starts to discover the secrets her parents have been hiding about how deeply they’re involved in the rebellion. it’s a great look at young leia, but it also gives us a really good look at bail + breha organa as well as mon mothma. similar time period as ‘andor’ so it might be a good read before that comes out next month!

bloodline by claudia gray. takes place ~25 yrs after the original trilogy and ~5 yrs before the force awakens. this is the perfect sequel to #2. it gives us a glimpse at what leia has accomplished with the new republic while also showing its faults which lead to the rise of the first order. IMO, perfect mixture between plot + character driven.

dark disciple by christie golden. if you’re a fan of clone wars, this is it!!!! this was originally supposed to an eight episode arc but it was abandoned after the script was writen (by katie lucas!!). it follows quinlan vos and asajj ventress on an undercover mission to kill dooku. sounds weird, right???? i pushed it off for a year and i regret that so much. tied for my favorite star wars book.

the high republic. not a single book but an entire era that takes a look at the jedi order ~250 yrs before the prequels. it’s a collection of adult/YA/middle grade books, comics, and eventually a disney+ show (the acolyte). if you want something completely new, this is it! here’s a list with the reading order. i’ve personally only read the adult + YA books and i’ve really enjoyed them and haven’t felt like i’ve missed out by not reading everything.

some other notable mentions

ahsoka by e.k. johnston. this author’s books definitely feel more “YA” than others, but it’s well worth reading if you’re a fan of clone wars, rebels, or you’re interested in the formation of the rebellion.

the padme trilogy by e.k. johnston. same as above, but they’re a super quick read + really add to the prequels, especially the phantom menace. 

a new dawn by john jackson miller. the first canon book published and you can tell. definitely not my favorite, but it’s worth reading if you’re a fan of rebels. it’s way too focused on the horrible action plot and doesn’t give us much on hera, but it adds a lot to kanan’s history as a padawan + after order 66.

resistance reborn by rebecca roanhorse. if you want more from the sequels (including a whole page of finnpoe content) look no further. best read after the two leia-centric books mentioned above. not star wars but this author's book "black sun" is very good.

i’ve only read a handful of legends books (most are way too focused on the action for me) but here are some recs from that group

the revenge of the sith novelization by matthew woodring stover. like, yeah, it’s just a retelling of the movie we’ve all watched a million times but with extra scenes /and/ the character’s thoughts + feelings. makes it way more tragic. might contain a scene insinuating that obi-wan is hooking up with bail organa.

wild space by karen miller. a great look at obi-wan + anakin right after attack of the clones as they adjust to war, anakin adjusts to having a padawan, and obi-wan tries to talk to him about his attachment to padme. but 90% of it is bail + obi-wan stuck together on a mission and, you guessed it, there’s a lot of sexual tension.

the jedi apprentice series by jude watson. i literally started reading these bc i didn’t understand some references to obi-wan’s past in fanfic lol. 150-200 pages each, they’re short and simple but add a lot to obi-wan’s story as a padawan. most consider these canon.

youtini.com is a great source for both canon + legends, as well as r/starwarsbooks (except for their obsession with thrawn [puke])

btw you can get a lot of books on thriftbooks for FB marketplace for v cheap.

OMFG POKEPARK I FORGOT ABOUT POKEPARK!! i have both pokepark 1 and 2 as well i was obsessed with them for so long, i LOVE pokepark!!! unfortunately we moved a couple years ago and never set up the wii in our new house since the switch came out soon after that so it’s been a while since i played it 💔

also omg heartgold is such a good first game, that one is my absolute favorite! i used to be so obsessed with lance when i was a kid, i thought he was the coolest lmao. and cyndaquil is my favorite starter ever after litten <3 and omg i’m so sorry your ds and games got stolen that sounds like my worst nightmare 😰 i actually lost my explorers of darkness and moon cartridges at some point so same 😔

that’s so cool that you’re going for a full dex in all the games!! you truly are a collector 😮 i don’t have the patience to evolve all those moms lmfao, and yeah sometimes overwriting the save file can suck but that’s why i’ve started getting both games in each gen! that way i can have one complete save file and do postgame whenever i want, and one floating save file i can rewrite whenever i want to start from scratch for fun!

the switch pokemon games are kind of a tough question. they’re not bad per se but they’re certainly nothing like the old games. the difficulty is hardly comparable to hgss or dppt, and i personally miss the old pokemon designs, but i’m making it sound very negative! i actually really enjoy the wild area, it’s super neat with a wide variety of mons from different gens, and i actually love all the gym leaders and characters in swsh! i definitely do not recommend lgpe though. i barely even broke a sweat on them and they felt very half-assed to me, the only part i enjoyed about them was having a pikachu or eevee for a starter. bdsp feels kind of the same way, though i haven’t finished it yet bc my save got wiped last december when i sent my switch in for repairs (i finally finished the original platinum for the first time last year though!! i got really far when i was 5 and then somehow accidentally deleted my save and i was so devastated over it i never touched it again for years LMFAO… it took me 2 years while in school to finally beat cynthia)

i’d say swsh can be pretty fun though! i haven’t played scarvio yet but from what i’ve heard they’re pretty glitchy, buggy, and laggy, none of which give me much confidence. however i want sprigatito and i want to do multiplayer with my best friend so i’m getting violet anyway! i’ll def lyk how it is once i’ve played it!

the full spread of core series games that i currently have is diamond & platinum, heartgold & soulsilver, black & white, black 2 & white 2, x & y, alpha sapphire, sun & moon, ultra sun & ultra moon, let’s go pikachu & eevee, sword & shield, and legends arceus (i plan on getting violet this christmas 😎). as for side games i have pokemon conquest, pokemon rumble blast & world, pokken tournament, and all of the mystery dungeon games plus blue rescue team!

i just restarted my sword save file bc my switch got wiped last december so i have to start over on all my switch games 💀after i finish it i’m probably going to play through bdsp and then i’ll have violet to keep me busy til school starts, yaaaay /s

Digimon Adventure: 2020 – Episode 41: Mon-Mon Park In The Fog (Review)

Thoughts on the forty-first episode of the Digimon Adventure reboot series.

I got back on schedule! Yay. And I loved this episode a lot! To everyone’s surprise. :D

Wow, narration, SPOILERS! :P

Gomamon is way too good for Jou. XD;

Yamato and Takeru go looking for food . . . I really think the writers of this series simply cannot handle more than two characters at once for more than two minutes. XD

Opossummon is voiced by the same voice actress for reboot Sora and LOL, her giggle is so creepy. XD; Good job!

OMG CHIBI YAMATO AND TAKERU FLASHBACKS! They are so cute it hurts. ;_;

Takeru: “We didn’t go into the haunted house because Big Brother said he was scared.” Gabumon: “What? Is that true, Yamato?!” Yamato: “Whatever! Takeru was crying because he was scared of the roller-coaster too!” Patamon: “Is that true, Takeru?” Takeru: “Oh, was I?” Yamato: “Yeah, you were!” *Pause.* *Everyone breaks out into laughter.* OMG THESE BROTHERS ARE SO PRECIOUS. I need more moments like this, please. <3 The reboot also “stole” another thing from tri. for Yamato! He’s scared of ghosts here, too. XD;

Takeru dragging Yamato by hand to the merry-go-round is so freaking cute! I feel like this episode will be cuteness overload. I’m totally OK with that!

MORE BABY FLASHBACKS! I don’t get why Yamato didn’t want to ride the merry-go-round with Takeru, though? Was he scared? Or embarrassed? I think embarrassed is more likely . . . but hey, he could be scared of fake horses too, lol.

Also, WHY ARE NATSUKO AND HIROAKI’S HEADS CUT OFF? I want to see the sexiest parents alive! :( (I know, I know, of course - because Toei doesn’t want to develop them/the children’s family backgrounds . . . SIGH. Such a shame. I’d prefer to get to know the Takaishida parents over Yuuko Yagami!)

I still don’t understand why Toei chose to cheap out on the evolutions of six out of eight of the kids . . . why would you do it just for Taichi and Yamato? Surely you would sell more toys of the others by giving them proper evolution sequences as well . . .?

Garurumon: “So this is the haunted house you two were talking about earlier.” Yamato: “Who would’ve thought I’d have to enter one like this?” LMAO the way he delivered that line was PERFECT. He earns his money. :P

OMG the voices of Balloon!Takeru were so creepy. I love it! XD;

I can’t believe Takeru just went into Warumonzaemon! THAT’S SO GROSS! XD; And this kid continues to be way too brave. :P

There is an entire theme park inside Warumonzaemon, lol. And so many cute Digimon are being forced to ride the rides endlessly! Puroromon especially is so cute. Awww!

OMG the Takaishida flashback where Yamato promised Takeru they’d ride the merry-go-round together “next time” . . . it’s super cute! But also LOL at Yamato’s “little kid” voice, hahaha.

ANGEMON! I wasn’t spoiled about this at the start of the episode at all, Toei, well done! :PPP

OMFG CAN SOMEONE PLEASE FIRE ANGEMON’S VOICE ACTOR? It’s so awful. X_x

The cute tiny Digimon randomly blowing bubbles was pretty cute? lol

Yamato: “Now, let’s continue our search for food.” Oh, right, I almost forgot this was the reason for their “convenient” detour into conflict. XD;

Another pretty basic episode, but it was filled with great character moments plus I’m Yamato biased so I loved it! The Takaishida brothers continue to be the best siblings in the show. I loved all their brotherly moments this episode and enjoyed seeing their flashbacks. If only their parents were fleshed out, too . . .

I don’t know why Toei is making better episodes now? It’s a little too late to turn the series around! But hey, it’s very welcome! I much prefer these last several character-specific episodes and not the endless action that was The Taichi Show. I hope it continues!

until you decide to go to a bar w timmy against your will

you had wanted to stay in and watch Star Wars, but alas h convinced you other wise, persuading you to get ready to head out to a new bar he found

“but kylo-” you started and he groaned, mumbling something about how you care more about a fictional character than him.

he grumbled for a couple more seconds before you rolled your eyes and got up to get ready, making him kiss you all over and make him giddy

at first timothée had his arm wrapped around your waist, then he started talking w his hands and let you go

you got lost in conversation and you eventually just left his side completely, wondering around the bar

you sat at the bar, slouching in your seat when a man sat next to you, obviously trying to flirt

timothée kept his eyes on you the whole time, glancing between the director infront of him and you talking with this man

he noticed your small smile forming and he knew you were giggling

his blood fucking boiled, only he made you giggle like that, who the fuck does this guy think he is

He held off from going over, not wanting to be rude to the director he was talking to, but he couldn’t focus when he knew you were laughing with someone who wasn’t him

“I’m sorry but if you’ll excuse me i have to take care of something” he spoke quickly, making quick strides towards you

he calmed himself down on his way over, stopping halfway through, thinking to himself how stupid he was being

until you titled your head back laughing and the guy touched your arm smiling at you

oh no. Timothée felt his nostrils flare and he clenched his jaw, he quickly walked next to you, his eyes glaring at the man

“oh look who decided to remember i existed” you rolled your eyes, decided to be bold

“y/n dont” timothee spoke lowly

“you’re her boyfriend? gotta admit i expected a little more, i mean look at her” the man winked at you, obviously drunk you blushed deeply

“excuse me?” Timothee growled, god if you didn’t stop him he was gonna fucking beat this man up

“I mean she deserves so much better than you! For fucks sake you left her because what? You wanna land a role” he rolled his eyes, timothée clenched his jaw

“y/n i can show you some real fun if you want” he spoke, mainting eye contact with timothee, he knew what he was doing

that’s all it took

timothee grabbed him by the shirt, lifting up to keep eye level with him, timothées eyes were no longer the light color you came to love, rather they were dark and full of rage

“You watch your fucking mouth” he spoke, his fist clenching this mans shirt tightly, his other hand was balled into a fist, nails digging into his palms

“or what? You gonna hurt me? Please you won’t do shit” the mean laughed in timothées face, it didn’t take you long to sober up a bit and realize what was about to happen

Timothée was quick to let the man down and you pressed you gentle hand to his back

He turned to you, eyes dark and face flushed, you could see his muscles flexed through his shirt, his breathing was ragged

“hey let’s go home angel okay?” You spoke softly, you laced your hand through his, your touch calming him

“I knew you wouldn’t do shit, she could do so much better than you” the man laughed from behind you

You screwed your eyes closed “why’d you have to go and say that!” You groaned knowing what timothée was gonna do

In a flash timmy had let go of your hand, his fist landing on the mans face, a not so quiet crack could be heard, everyone becoming quiet as the mans nose started bleeding

“What the fuck did you say?” Timothée spoke, everyone stared in shock, here was the same boy who giggled nervously every other word

Timothée was enraged to say the least, his breathing was rough, eyes dark, muscles flexed and he looked so powerful.

For a second even you were scared to approach him, his stance making him look taller than he was, you quickly grabbed his hand before he could hit the man again, pulling him away quickly

Timothées jaw was still clenched, he held you close to him as you both left, the crowd of people scurrying out of his way, everyone suddenly afraid of angering the curly headed brunette

The cold New York air hit his flushed face and you let out a sigh

Timothée was still shaking in anger, his knuckles slightly red from punching the man

“angel, baby look at me calm down” you spoke softly, timothée only grumbled, pacing back and forth

“Who the fuck does he think he is? Making you giggle? Youre mine” he spoke, his voice low and deep, you had never seen him this angry before

“mon amour relax!” you replied, grabbing his wrist and pulling him into a hug, hoping it would call him down

“can’t believe he had the nerve to even look at you” he spoke, nuzzling his head into your neck, kissing the skin softly

you held him tightly, the wind blowing around the two of you, letting him calm his breathing

“I’m sorry amoureuse i didn’t mean to ignore you, i just got caught up and-” he began, you quickly shut him up, placing your lips on is.

it was a quick but passionate kiss, lasting only a couple seconds but the two of you pulled away breathless

you gave him a soft smile which he returned, grinning shyly

“that was kinda hot im not gonna lie” you mumbled under your breath, it wasn’t unnoticed by timothée, seeing as though he pulled you along faster to your car, racing home, adrenaline pumping

timothée rarely got jealous, but when he did it sure was a sight for sore eyes

His puppeteer was everything to him. They were smart, kind, and purer than he’d ever be. The Batter cherished every moment he spent with them, loving their guidance. He felt empty when they had to leave. He always did. When they weren’t with them, he thought about where they could be and what they were doing. And if they were safe. Batter knew they weren’t very safe without him by their side to protect them. Thoughts of spectres harming them in that… other world… plagued him. 

Zacharie found him in the middle of those thoughts today. Batter was almost glad for the distraction the merchant provided. 

“What is troubling you today, mon cher ami?” 

“The player is gone,” Batter said. “I can’t protect them when they’re gone.” 

“I’m sure they’ll be back soon, mi amigo. The game is unfinished after all.” Zacharie sat down next to Batter and pulled a bottle out of his backpack. “Want one?” He offered. 

Batter took the bottle out of his hands and handed over 300 credits. They had done this often enough that it’d become a routine. Not by any means an unwelcome one either. Zacharie was pleasant company most of the time and a nice distraction from Batter’s constant worry for the player. He was better than the Judge and the guardians. And most certainly better company than the queen.

“Did you notice their new haircut?” Zacharie asked. “I think it suits them.” 

“I did. It does look nice.”

Seeing his puppeteer was comforting. All he had to do was turn his head and they were there on a floating screen. He loved seeing them and he liked standing in front of them during fights. It was like he was protecting them from the impure beings of this world. 

In a way, he was. He hadn’t let anything get near or touch the player’s screen. He didn’t know what would happen if he did so he protected them.  

“What if…”

Batter turned his head to stare at Zacharie. He motioned for his friend to continue. 

“What if we could bring them into our world? They wouldn’t be able to leave either of our sights anymore and you could protect them all the time.” 

Batter was silent. Could it be possible? He would absolutely do it without a moment of hesitation if it was. It probably wasn’t but he decided to humor Zacharie just this once. “And how would we do that?”

“Perhaps if you reach into their screen you could pull them here?” 

“It wouldn’t hurt to try.” 

Zacharie chuckled and lifted his mask just enough so he could drink from his bottle. 

“It certainly wouldn’t. If it does work I’ll be very happy to aide you in… protecting them. They are my number one customer after all.” He laughed again and Batter smiled a bit. 

“They wouldn’t mind. They have me talk to you just to hear your voice.” 

“Oh really now?” Zacharie chuckled again and his face burned pink behind his toad mask. “How flattering. I’ll be sure to show up more to talk to them.” 

Without warning, a screen began to glow and flicker on the wall behind Batter. Seeing it made Batter sit up straight and smile. 

“Now’s your chance,” Zacharie said quietly. His demeanor had changed, Batter noted. He seemed anxious. 

Batter stood up and faced the wall. He reached out and to both of their surprise, his hand went through. When his arm was submerged up to his shoulder, he felt the soft flesh of who he hoped to be the player. He grabbed their shoulder and yanked. 

Tumbling out of the black screen was indeed his puppeteer. 

“Bonjour mon cher, it is lovely to meet you in the flesh.” 

The player sat up, their eyes wide. “This isn’t possible.” 

“I assure you it is!” Zacharie sounded enthusiastic. “Welcome to our world of OFF. I do hope you enjoy your stay.” 

“But how-” The player went into a coughing fit. “Why’s it so hard to, breathe here?”

“That’ll be the smoke. It’s what we breathe, remember?”

“Do you not breathe smoke in the other world?” Batter asked. 

The player shook their head, deciding that this felt too real to be a dream. “No, we have oxygen. It’s what’s.. In the smoke here but not enough of. That’s why all the Elsen gasp when we talk to them.”

Pride filled Batter at hearing them speak. They were so smart. But what should he do about their breathing problem? He couldn’t just let them go on like this. 

“Here, I do believe this will help you.”

Zacharie handed them what seemed to be half a mask with two circles hanging from the sides. 

“It will help you breathe as long as you wear it. Free of charge, just this once.” He winked at them. “Now Batter, what should we do now? They need a place to rest and food. I suggest my office in my amusement park or my place in the mall.”

Everything was moving so fast. The player could hardly comprehend it all. One moment they were sitting in front of their laptop ready to continue playing OFF, and the next, they were being pulled into their laptop by an arm that had reached out to them. Walking besides their favorite video game characters was surreal. So so surreal. If it wasn’t for the terrible air they breathed in before and for it stinging their eyes, they would have chalked this down to either a dream or a very vivid hallucination. 

A part of them still thought it could be either of those options. That part of their mind was how they were able to stay so calm. Don’t get them wrong, the anxiety and uncertainty were still there! They just weren't at the point where it was difficult to stay calm. 

They glanced at Zacharie and then at the Batter. Seeing them in person was different. Of course it would be since now they weren’t pixels, but there were a lot of differences between their pixel states and their actual physical states. For one, Zacharie had tattoos on both his arms. The player could only make out a few, but he had stars and vines on both his arms. There was also some kind of blob with a face? They weren’t sure, but he looked so cool. And his toad mask was less freaky in person. They were hoping they could say the same about his judge mask but seeing as it may or may not be made out of Valarie’s face, who knew.  

Unlike Zacharie, the Batter didn’t have many differences besides his eyes. Under his hat were two pairs of crimson colored eyes. One pair stared straight ahead while they were walking and the other seemed to be trained on them the entire time. He certainly caught them looking but didn’t say anything. 

It was Zacharie who broke the silence.

for off, I have literally so many roles I wanna see him in. firstly I would love to see him as a real main character, bc in a way even when he’s a main character he isn’t really? in tol bc third was the narrator for the first half of the show it felt like he was the main character, in girl next room duchess was the main character & we didn’t get to see much of krathing’s pov... and it’s like that for all of his roles, even his upcoming one in not me. so I’d want him, no matter what the story is, to be the ‘real’ main character. apart from that, specific roles I wanna see him in:

a shy role. I think it’s por in wolf who really convinced me that off could play a shy soft boi bc he had so many adorable expressions that would suit a shy character so well. I need it to happen. shy & awkward please

I know off’s dream is to act in a play which is so attractive to me as I’m a huge theater-goer, so I hope he gets a role in a play one day & can fulfill his dream <3

Do you ever 100% have those days when you believe supercorp is in fact canon in all the ways compared to the het tropes? But there’s the thorn on your side that’s “waiting” on everybody behind the show to “confirm” what we’ve been saying and preaching for years now? And if it highkey comes down to the show pulling a catradora on us with supercorp I’ll be totally fine with it because I’ll just take that as a big fat “I told you so” to the haters. Analysis GO OFF 😚

Dude, you have no idea how many little break downs I have every once in a while because I just feel so confident that Supercorp will happen! Everything in the Supercorp-specific writing, music, cinematic tropes, actress choices, etc. has shown that Kara and Lena will and should be canon. Look, I’m in graduate school for psychology and I haven’t taken a film class in my life. I’ve never even been a big “shipping” person. But I watched Supergirl live all throughout undergrad, often with my straight friends (who were less into the show) and even they noticed all the things that we "delusional" fans discuss.

Iconic Superhero/Love interest tropes

The Hero having to choose between saving their LI or kids/city/world, but miraculously save both. May I present Exhibit A:

The LI standing between the Hero and their one weakness: literally every time Lena has built anti-kryptonite suits, protected Kara before she knew her identity, and specifically Exhibit B:

Dramatic saves of the LI: I present the longing looks mid-rescue for Exhibit C:

The Hero running flying toward certain death to save their LI: Kara disregards a kryptonite bomb in Exhibit D:

The LI being the last to know the hero's identity, but Hero will still risk their identity to save the LI: Everyone say hello to Exhibit E:

The Hero finding strength from their LI: the CW sure loves using El Mayarah in Supercorp posts! And social media aside, we've seen how confident and strong Lena makes Kara, both in dialogue and visually. (And it's a bonus that Kara makes Lena stronger too!)

Everything with food

Kara literally referred to food as a love language when talking to Nia. Only an episode or so away from bringing Lena food from 3 different countries. And let’s remember how Kara offered to fly to Italy for her first date with James...

Kara also always brought Lena food, even before season 5. That was their Thing.

We also have to talk about the absences of food: Kara dropping potstickers at Pulitzer ceremony when she sees Lena and not accepting Dansen’s invitation to get food after her falling out with Lena.

It was established all the way back in Season 1 (very much so in the fun Flash crossover) that Kara thinks food is more important than everything and will often use it as a coping mechanism when she’s sad (like in Season 2/3 about Mon). Yet, she’s so devastated over Lena that she can’t even eat her favorite foods? Interesting.

Color schemes and certain shots

The red/blue color scheme consistently used with Supercorp, with exception to the purple tones used in Season 5 to represent their conflict.

No other love interest for Kara has consistently used that iconic Super/LL color palet. Not James, Mon, William, or the two episodes with Adam.

I'd like to specifically remind everyone how Kara chose to wear purple with William, against Alex's explicit advice.

There are always lighting choices made with Supercorp shots. No other duo (besides dramatic Danvers sisters shots) seem to have such artistic care.

Do I even need to mention the balcony scenes? Both at the Pulitzer Ceremony and in scenes from multiple seasons where Kara has hovered over Lena's balcony-- most notably in 5x03.

Like seriously, do I need to mention the scene from 5x08 where Kara and Lena are looking longingly at the same picture of the two of them?

Music

If I know anything as a musician, I know scores. And Blake Neely has created certain melodies just for Supercorp saves. There’s the typical “Supergirl hero” melody, but it’s rarely used for scenes with Lena (besides the one instance in 5x07 cliff scene, when Neely combines the Leviathan theme with the Supergirl theme).

If you want to listen to examples: the brief save in 2x15 and the plane save in 3x05. Both melodies are unique, unreleased scores that (to my musical knowledge) have not been repeated with other Kara rescues. 

Also, can we talk about how Supercorp has their own heroic theme, composed specifically for the 100th episode? Played by a live orchestra? For the one AU where Kara and Lena were partners from the start?

Decisions made by Melissa and Katie

We know they've known about Supercorp since at least the end of Season 2. Melissa showed Katie and they've been aware for years.

Yet, they play into the Supercorp dynamic. Longing stares, giggly dialogue, tear filled eyes, etc.

Regarding Melissa specifically: for her directorial debut she made two significant decisions. 1. Despite the mistreatment of Supercorp fans, and LGBT fans in general, by some actors and crew, and despite the tone deaf plot lines and usage of characters, Supercorp has consistently held up with all of my points stated above. That's why I still have days where I can just feel it in my bones that Supergirl is playing the slow burn game with Supercorp. It clearly won't be as well-done as Catradora, because of how much sh*t they've pulled over the seasons. i’m usually the kind of person that refrains from giving an opinion before things are “actually released”, but since beemoov stated on the Eldarya - New Era’s topic they’re “open to suggestions”, i decided to open my heart a little to the changes we’ve seen in the games provided by this company and actually give an opinion on everything. [ this is my opinion, obviously, you don’t have to agree with it ]

let’s start by the fact that eldarya’s episode 26 was the last “decent” episode! i will never forgive you guys for not giving a “bigger and better” life to eldarya, a game that had everything to be a top tier game: it had an amazing beginning, amazing characters and had a lot of interesting things that were hinted mid-episodes that were NEVER explained until today! details that were forgotten. what i believe is that you guys changed the game’s “script writer” randomly which was a bad move... also, don’t even get me started with these illustrations [even though many people disagree with me on this one], i don’t really like the new illustration’s style implemented in episode 28th and foward: please compare gardienne’s illustration in episode 21 and in episode 28 (example). it literally lost all it’s essence in my opinion... BUT this last part right here is actually subjective and all, i personally don’t enjoy it, but it’s not like they look ugly.

! and here i start my point about the new era’s topic info given on july 21st 2020:

actually sounds great, as it should be! i really enjoy the fact that literally nothing will change!

leiftan? sounds wonderful, excited to see how he’ll act in the new era! [despite the fact that the braid doesn’t look very... appealing to me] nevra? thank god, one of my loves is safe and sound! loved his clothes! [despite the fact that his face looks weird to me, i’ll always think the first drawing of all the characters is way better but, anyways...] mathieu? honestly?! take it back... I understand that many people are like “omg new characters”, but do you guys really need to delete ONCE AGAIN the main routes?! y’all killed valkyon and leiftan, you brought leiftan, why can’t you bring him back? you’re also taking ezarel on the way, 100% sure. don’t you guys learn from the mistakes you make?! you guys lost on average 30~50% of the players in MCL because of this: the game is for us to enjoy, we are the “buyers”... but i guess there’s servers who always accept whatever you guys do... so “it’s okay”. the 4th route? it’s either going to be lance [which is way better than mathieu or wtv], ezarel [if there’s a miracle] or a girl, which honestly, i understand there’s many people who want this... but also take it back... also, you guys on the first game could have added a 5th route, which was supposed to be lance/ashkore, but i guess y’all don’t really know how to deal with the plot y’all create so...

- “ Oh! In the new game you’ll have a new way of wasting maana AND IT WILL ALSO APPLY TO THE ORIGINAL GAME! Guess what? You’ll spend maana in each dialogue “

listen here, i understand that you guys want this new era so much (i honestly don’t understand why, since the original game could’ve have at least 45 episodes if you guys actually knew how to handle stuff but k) but please don’t mess with the original game?!

you guys will make it fair for us to spend a decent amount of maana in “new era” but it WILL NEVER BE FAIR for “the origins” game! [it also isn’t fair in MCL - HIGH SCHOOL]. i’ve seen it somewhere a girl who was playing episode 27 and clicked 830 times on the dialogues, do you know how much maana that is? 8300 maana, it’s like 3 times (and even more lmao) the maanas we waste with “walking” normally [2500 is the average]. so, in name of god, remember that the original game there’s SO MUCH TALKING (which is amazing) so, it will never be fair (even if monologues and “next” and all those things are taken out)... unless you make us waste 3~5 maana per dialogue, which is something you’ll never accept.

if i remember anything else, i’ll probably come here again. also, if i feel like this is poor written i’ll rewrite it again.

im going to start with minor differences that make me prefer the 2010 version but not hate the 2011 one

first of all his dramatic soft gay sappy ass touching his heart when talking about mozarts music i like that a lot :(

then when he sings "killing out of spite everything i create" he metaphorically stabs himself in 2010 but not in 2011

and i love the first version because its a nice and subtle parallel between how mozarts music makes him feel like (lbqfm) vs how his own music affects him (l'assasymphonie) as i pointed out here before. this is on different levels !! the fact that in lbqfm its his inner gay demon stabbing him, representing mozart(s music) and in l'assasymphonie he stabs himself..... bc he is killing what he creates and what he creates is part of himself... so this isnt about him wanting to kill mozart its about him being self destructive... this is crazy this is just one gesture and i can go on and on about it and honestly my rant will only get more insane.

later he grabs the knife at different moments and in different ways and i think the 2010 version is more dramatic and impactful. the editing helps too, it really made me jump, its all done at the right time. but honestly both are valid to me; i feel like in 2010 hes more angry and impulsive, like its the very first time he thinks about doing something like this, whereas in 2011 he feels sad and defeated, like hes going back to a place he fought very hard to get out of and because of this one guy hes back there, but in the end he recognises its his own fault

another minor difference that i think is worth mentioning, and honestly i like both versions, is what he does at the "senseless (or crazy) symphony" part. in 2010 he almost covers his ears cuz obviously it goes along with the lyrics in a literal sense. meanwhile in 2011 its more of a symbolic interpretation? idk how to word it but 2010 feels like hes just talking about his music and the thoughts inside his head making no sense, but in 2011 when he looks at his writs, his veins, its like he is talking about himself as a whole; a being without any meaning, who is losing his mind, and i like that too

and this difference goes on when he talks about the "disconcerting concert"; 2010 feels like hes literally listening to it around him, his performance in 2010 is overall more dramatic lkjslkd, meanwhile theres none of that in 2011, hes too melancholic to be jumping around

here when hes talking about his talent (or rather lack of) u can see how hes more angry in 2010 and sad in 2011 (honestly this corroborates my theory that at the beginning florent played salieri as a legit evil villain but as it went on he added more depth)

anyways so far both versions are good to me now........ the fucking dancers............... i move away from the mic to breathe in.jpg

theres just. so fucking much going on in 2011. there are a shit ton of people moving around, the flashing lights, the constant zoom in and out, the curtains moving the background, im gonna have a stroke????? l'assasymphonie is such a heavy song, emotionally, and florents performance is amazing on its on theres no fucking need to add 100 more elements!??!? it totally takes away ur focus from salieri ....

my biggest problem is with the dancers as u guessed it cuz honestly idk why they are there, i dont understand the need. i get that they are his inner demons, but not the sexy ones, so they are there to represent his inner turmoil and add a chaos element to the performance and a parallel to lbqfm with the whole hands on salieri part, but its way to obvious that it becomes repetitive! inner demons dancing around a character happens way too much on mor; bim bam boum in a way, j'accuse mon pere, la mascarade, comedie-tragedie, si je defaille, lbqfm and now again?!!?!?!?! bitihc dlajsdlkas

and the worst fucking part to me is when salieri goes to kill the female dancer

.....why whY... WHY.. why make the song literal like this!!! this is not what its about??!?! i know she isnt supposed to be A Person, this isnt him being A Murderer, she is him in a way but ?? we already saw him almost killing himself??!!? why repeat that, this is just so unnecessary and it doesnt sit right with me why make him stab a woman!! it makes my blood boil. it takes away all the drama from the other scene, of him with the knife on his wrist, because it is essentially the same!

now lets discuss why i prefer the lost half naked blindfolded men. is it because its gay? yes. is it because of the kinky element? yes. u see how that creates a parallel to lbqfm but in a subtle way? yes thank you.

to elaborate i feel like the 2010 dancers represent his psyche at the moment soooo much better. its not just simply his inner demons haunting him again, making it repetitive.

his is how i interpret it and how it relates to salieri:

the blindfold: god it can mean so much... above all i think its his envy and anger blinding him, making him feel lost and afraid. but it can also represent how salieri is a stern man, he only sees things one way and is blinded to other possibilities, other ways of living. because he is so narrow minded, so used to just following the status quo, he doesnt understand mozart and how his carefree way of life is working for him. he doesnt understand his conflicted feelings towards mozart. he doesnt understand how mozarts music can be so unconventional and yet beautiful, etc etc. his world was shattered and he feels lost because of this one little guy

but honestly i think the intention was to give a shoutout to amadeus lmao which is still cool. they do mention in MOR that mozart can play blindfolded so u can view as a parallel to that too

the lack of clothes: around mozart salieri feels naked but not in a sexy and fun way, in vulnerable and seen for the first time way. imagine how strongly he considered changing his name and moving countries after the whole eh bien, maestro? trop de notes? ordeal..... he was caught off guard in that situation so he let the truth out way too much, but he knows he cant fake it around mozart any other time either

their behaviour: they look afraid, lost, in pain and are constantly falling, getting up, then falling again and being pushed up against the wall by something invisible (to me its mozarts music/influence) and honestly i dont have to say anything else ! its all there !!! it represents salieris emotions perfectly !!!!!

in summary, to me the 2010 dancers dont have a lot to do with the lyrics of the song and i think thats good. they are there to add a new element to it, to let us see inside salieris head, while salieri himself is performing what the lyrics are about. so on the other hand i think the 2011 dancers are repetitive and unnecessary, not adding anything new to the performance

Favourite story you’ve written so far: 

Probably “The Shock of Heat”

It didn’t have a lot of traction because it’s almost entirely centered around characters I made up (Daiki and Seia have my WHOLE heart!) and it takes place in Japan, but I literally came up with the idea in one night (like 3 hours) and I think it’s probably one of my most interesting stories as well as being one of my best written stories - if not my BEST written story. 

(But I’m also VERRRYY fond of “Her Specialty” because once again I think it was one of my best written fics - I like fics where I end up doing research (for this one on the film “The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari” - aka I rewatched the film then google deep dove) for them and this one and TSoH were the most researched fics I think (until we get into Tales of a Mortician)

And I also ADORE “And Warm” because the whole fic came about because Lota ( @alotawords) wrote this beautiful poem called.... “And Warm” that was written about Xelda and Dorothea and it was literally so heartwarming that I wrote and entire fic around it!!!! 

Fic you were nervous to post: 

I tend to get nervous to post Spellwood fics. Poor @evilqueensandlesbianvampires always gets the brunt of my “I just posted the fic and now I’m in a panic” because a lot of people have very sharp views on Spellwood (for good reason) and the last thing I want to do is have to write an apology post because one of my fics was seen to be glorifying abuse or something akin. I always stand by - there must have been good in him (and in my personal life, I’ve noticed that’s usually why the bad slips through the cracks for a while) and I find their relationship interesting to explore. I think that if one person aided the most in making Zelda the person she is today - I feel it must be Faustus - considering its a CENTURIES long relationship. Sooo I try to keep my tags as helpful as possible and “report” from as non-biased a place as possible when writing Faustus and that seems to so far work to make sure everyone stays safe when reading. 

BUTTT if I had to just pick one fic - probably ironically “Positively Lewd” as it was a very light moment in their history, which made it fun to write! (I DO WRITE FLUFF SOMETIMES LOTA!!! SEE!!!) 

How do you choose your titles?: 

Usually I try to find something in the text that isn't toooo obvious but obvious is you look (kudos to @timelady-queenofhell for seeing my title in AWBAN!) - like The Shock of Heat came out of the conversation Daiki and Zelda have in chapter 1 (and a few other reasons but for those who haven’t read it, that’s all I’ll say about that. *Insert devil faces*)

BUTTTT if I get really stuck I just dig through “Paradise Lost” until I can find a pretty turn of phrase that works. 

Do you outline?: 

In my head!!! I have a whole “Zelda Spellman Timeline” that I would post, but right now it contains MAJOR spoilers for certain one- shots I have yet to write so, I’ll have to wait. But, that’s kind of my outline.....not necessarily story outlines, but rather “I need Zelda to get to HERE by the end of this fic - what needs to happen to make that happen” (but usually she just does it herself.)

Complete number of fics: 17 or 19.....give or take (I have those two little series - the Melvin Moments one and the Tales of a Mortician - which can technically end whenever I want them to....)
