I've said a lot of Nuzi stuff recently but genuinely I think one of my favorite things about it is that neither of Uzi's parents approve. Khan thinks the DDs are bad influences and Nori finds personal offense to her daughter potentially dating one of the things that killed her.
Like genuinely what kind of stereotypical angsty teen would she be if her parents approved of her choice in boyfriend? Made even funnier by the fact that N is genuinely really good for her. Like usual applications of such a trope would have the guy be an actual bad influence and the girl like "you just don't understand him like I do!" but that's actually just straight up the truth of it. N is the goodest most wholesome boy who loves her so much and softens her rough edges and is just SO good for Uzi-
But no parental approval. Because Uzi's parents are just like that. And Uzi's just like that. It's a whole family worth of like that

You couldn’t remember the last party you had been to.
A real party, with crates of alcohol, loud music, and drunk people, that was.
Throughout your early teen years it had been a regular part of your week. Getting drunk, befriending strangers and making mistakes. You left no party within reach unattended, no matter the people or their willingness to provide alcohol to minors. You had figured out ways to always get what you wanted in the end. And what you wanted at that time was to drink away any and every one of your brain cells.
With a little luck it would be the very one that made you remember the grief of losing a parent.
Whenever you told people about those days, it was as an explanation to why you rarely drank now. Most people also thought Jisung had helped you overcome that part of your life. It would have fit right into their version of a romantic love story—girl sad, girl meets boy, boy fixes girl. Happy end.
Most people couldn’t have been more wrong.
Jisung, like yourself, was plagued by his very own share of suffocating pain. And he too wanted to forget, desperately. In meeting you, he found someone who was right as troubled, maybe even more so. Thus, a toxic relationship formed, the two of you soon becoming the life of every party you attended.
Any party you went to, you became the centre of. Be it a friend’s party, a friend’s sibling’s party, or a stranger’s party one of your mutual friends had heard about god-knows-where. Surrounded by a crowd of people, both your age and older, you became the main source of entertainment. Making people laugh and providing them with memories they wouldn’t forget. Because which other two 14-year-olds could keg-stand and funnel like grown-ups?
You weren’t proud of it, but at the same time, it was as much part of your story as everything before and after. The darkest part, filled with pain, rage, and the simple desire to forget, yes. But a part never less.
Those times were long gone; life had caught up to you at some point.
Despite your party-animal-past, a shiver ran down your back when the frat house appeared on the horizon.
People gathered on the porch, on the stairs leading up to it, and on the lawn, smoking, drinking, and making out. Whatever stereotypical frat-party scenario you could have come up with played out right in front of your eyes.
You lingered for a moment, watching the scene unfold. Unsure how to approach the evening or if you even still wanted to. Hadn’t it been for Yuqi taking matters into her own two hands and dragging you inside... Well, you would have turned around and chosen the safety of your room instead.
Your partying days sure had passed.
When you entered the house, a thick veil of warmth and sweat hit you, a breath of nausea taking over your being. A sea of people was stumbling from room to room, up the stairs or towards you, in a desperate search for fresh air. If you planned on staying here for the next few hours, you’d need a drink. Or five.
Yuqi turned towards you, excitement evident on her face, “Wanna look for Jisung?”
“Drinks first!” you yelled back, her nod telling you she had understood. Surprising, seeing someone had cranked the bass right up to 11.
With your hand in hers, Yuqi pulled you through the crowd until you reached the kitchen. It was less crowded than the rest of the house, meaning you had a safe haven you could come to if things got too much. Judging from the tension in your back not even five minutes in, you’d need it at some point.
You didn’t pay too much attention to the people around you. The couple making out on the counter or the group chatting on the other side of the room. Instead, your gaze focused on the beers in the ice-filled sink. A sigh of relief escaped you as the cold, bitter liquid ran down your throat. The first half of the bottle, you emptied in that initial gulp.
You must have needed this more than you noticed.
“Impressive,” Yuqi praised you, her lips wrapping around her own bottle for a less eager sip. “Remind me never to face you in a drink-off.”
“Trust me, my drink-off days are far behind me.”
Your voice startled one of the people standing by the side, a familiar face snapping towards you. “Y/N?”
You found Hwasa leaning against the counter, a surprised expression taking over her features.
“What are you doing here?”
“I could ask you the same thing.” Your roomie had told you she’d be going out tonight too. Although you hadn’t expected her to be at the same party you had been dragged into. Pulling you into a hug, a few of her locks tickled your nose. “Jisung got invited by an old friend.”
“And you brought my new favourite person! Hi!” Hwasa greeted Yuqi with another bone-crushing hug. To an outsider, it must have looked like you hadn’t seen each other for years rather than yesterday.
“Don’t call me your favourite person, or I will cry.”
The smile on Yuqi’s face spread from one ear to the other as she let go of your roommate. After a few shorts hours spent with her, she had opened up to you about how difficult it usually was for her to make friends. Similar to Jisung, her quirky persona more times than not scared people off. Befriending not one but two people within the first week on campus, her happiness was understandable.
“So, who’s the mystery friend that invited you here? Wait, don’t tell me! I’m gonna guess. Is it Chris? He knows, like, everyone.” You shook your head, never having heard that name in your life. Scratching her chin with two perfectly manicured fingernails, Hwasa pondered. “Matthew? He’s been around for a while.” Again, you didn’t know who she was talking about.
This game could have taken forever. There were about 300 people who could have invited you, judging from the crowd inside this house. Though the fun was cut short when the door to the kitchen opened, and a familiar face entered the scene. Just like you remembered, he was followed by a crowd of eager people. Ever the centre of everything.
“No way! Am I dreaming? Y/N! I can’t believe you came.”
You startled when he pulled you into a hug, wrapping your arms around him with reluctance. You hadn’t seen him in over two years, and this was how he decided to greet you? A hug? Thinking about it, you had probably hugged him only a handful of times in your lifetime. Your birthday, maybe. Or Christmas.
“Hi, Jackson.”
He let go of you, momentarily staying in your proximity before stepping back.
He looked good, face clean-shaven and hair pulled back by a baseball cap. His clothes told the same story they always did. Rich guy with swagger, Gucci earrings somehow accentuating his baggy clothing. Jackson, for all you remembered, had always dressed like this. Drenching his aura in handsome.
“How is everyone? How’s the fam?”
“Everyone is perfect. Healthy, happy.”
Despite your best efforts to sound nonchalant, you couldn’t help the undertone of spite. Jackson seemed to understand the secret message, nodding as his lips pressed into a thin line.
You wanted to be nice to him as you were aware he was a good person at heart. But after everything, you couldn’t help being a little bitter still.
Hwasa—oblivious to a fault—interrupted the awkward shift this conversation had taken and you silently thanked the heavens. “You know each other?”
“What? You do, too?” Jackson replied, pointing between the two of you, ever the Spiderman-meme. “How?”
“We’re roommates.”
Emptying your first bottle, you pulled a second one out of the sink, opening it on the marble of the kitchen island. A party trick from back in your heyday you never quite unlearned.
“What? That’s crazy!” Jackson seemed genuinely surprised. He pulled his baseball cap off his head and repositioned it over a few loose strands. “Small world.”
“How about you?” you threw the question back to them.
“We’re—” Jackson cut himself off, eyes meeting Hwasa’s as they toasted their bottles. A quick wink, and he finished his contextually unbelievable description of their relationship. “Friends.”
Hwasa choked on her drink, laughing at his words as if it was the funniest thing she had heard all year. “That’s the understatement of the year.”
You remembered Yuqi, who was leaning against the counter beside you, perfectly quiet as she listened. Probably the quietest you had seen her since you met her. And that included the courses you visited together.
“Fine. We used to hook up. Happy?” Jackson corrected his previous statement. The wink he had sent Hwasa made way more sense now.
“Almost. You seem to have forgotten the part in which you fell hopelessly in love with me.”
Your eyes focused on the two of them. Could Hwasa be the girl? No way! That would have been too big of a coincidence.
“Okay, you are blowing that way out of proportion.” Chuckling at her words, Jackson positioned himself so that he was now facing her. “I had a little crush on you.”
“Exactly. What I said.”
Huffing, Jackson shook his head, pulling Hwasa into a side hug of sorts. Good thing Wheein wasn’t around to witness this flirtatious moment. Her absence explained why Hwasa even let someone come close to her like this. Her girlfriend’s presence seemed to put her a little on edge. Like Hwasa was in constant hope she wouldn’t do something to offend Wheein. Or, God forbid, make her think she was anything but faithful.
“We broke things off, and now—”
“We’re besties,” Hwasa ended his statement, patting his chest as they smiled at each other.
It couldn’t have been silent for more than five seconds before Jackson unwrapped his arm from his bestie. He fetched himself a fresh bottle out of the sink.
“Anyways,” throwing you and Yuqi a kind smile, Jackson turned to his friends. They were still gathered behind him, talking over each other with loud laughter. “It was nice seeing you again. I hope you and Sungie have a great night. Let me know if you need anything.”
Making his way out of the room, he left you to yourselves, sipping on your bottle like you hadn’t just emptied the last one. “Good luck finding him if you need anything. Jackson won’t be in the same room for longer than a minute.”
There was no need to tell you that.
At every party he had ever thrown, Jackson had always been nowhere and everywhere, all at once. You distinctly remembered searching for an hour once before eventually finding him where you had started. How he did it, no idea, but he sure was a pro at it.
“Let me get back to my friends. I’ll see you later?”
Nodding, you turned towards Yuqi, who had about 100 questions dancing on the tip of her tongue. The second you were on your own, she erupted like a waterfall.
“What was that?”
“What was what?” As if she would buy that. There was no way you didn’t know what she was talking about. Your body language had been very see-through throughout that whole interaction. Arms crossed, lips tight, brows cocked.
“Don’t play me, bitch!” A term of endearment, you had learned. “There was so much tension, I thought I was in Riverdale for a sec.”
You laughed at her words, shaking your head. “I don’t really want to talk about it right now.”
“Alright.” Yuqi accepted, but not before getting at least one last statement out in the open. “He’s smoking hot, but whatever he did to you, I would not want to be him.”
The two of you left the kitchen on a seemingly impossible quest to find your boyfriend. You forced your way through the crowd until you reached a less dense section of the room. Only then you noticed a group of people a little further back, right by a window.
You motioned for Yuqi to follow you as you approached the couches. Your boyfriend’s mop of brown hair remained the centre of your vision.
Jisung was deep in conversation with a boy beside him while Felix listened to them. Apart from them, a handful of other boys spread over the couches. The ones that didn’t fit, sat comfortable on chairs. Seeing Jisung in a sea of people he didn’t know, talking like it’s all he was born to do, you almost didn’t want to intrude.
“Bro! Babe Alert!”
The boy next to Jisung was the first to notice you approaching. It took a lot in you to push your amusement at his obliviousness down.
As Jisung’s head followed his friend’s gaze, he gasped out a loud “Yah!” before giving the boy next to him a slap against the bulky arm.
“Dude, that’s my girlfriend.”
“Oops.”
All eyes were on you as you waved at the group. You introduced yourself while sitting on the armrest beside your boyfriend. Yuqi joined your other side, and introduced herself before leaning against you.
“I’m happy you’re here,” Jisung confessed, hand coming to your thigh, squeezing it in adoration.
“You are?”
When you looked at Jisung, you noticed the guy beside him, eyes threatening to bulk out of their sockets. Staring at Yuqi, no less. After a few seconds, he realised he’d been caught and blushed. By pulling Felix into a conversation, he hoped to cover up his interest in your friend.
The girl in question was too deep in her interaction with one of the boys on the chairs to notice. He soon offered her half of his seat, which she accepted while discussing his choice of—footwear? She really seemed to know her way around the closet.
“Yes. Because someone didn’t believe you were real.” Jisung’s eyes darted towards a boy on the other couch whose blonde tresses were pulled into a loose ponytail. “What do you say now, Hyunjin? My hot girlfriend is real.”
“That’s how you describe me to people? Hot?” You didn’t know whether to be mad or flattered.
“Just so we’re clear,” the boy, Hyunjin, chimed in, “it wasn’t the hot part I didn’t believe. It was the whole concept of a girlfriend I was questioning. But you are real, apparently. So I owe Felix ten bucks.”
Laughing at Hyunjin’s cluelessness, your boyfriend couldn’t hide his amusement. “Felix already met her, stupid! You got pranked good, dude.”
Hyunjin’s jaw was on the floor at the new discovery, gaze dramatically cutting to the boy in question.
As the two of them exchanged money and ridicule, you caressed Jisung’s thigh in adoration. A sense of pride filled you at how he had somehow already found a way out of his shell. University seemed to have a positive impact on him, the first week progressing smoother than you had anticipated. Regardless of how he made so many friends this early on, you were glad he did.
“So, who are your friends?”
Gaze wandering through the circle, Jisung introduced the boys one after another. Starting from the one sitting next to Yuqi.
“That’s Seungmin. He’s an English major.”
The boy conversed with Yuqi as though they had known each other for years. He had puppy-brown hair, parted in the middle and cut even on all sides in a fashionable bowl-cut. Two strands of light-blonde framed his face, rounding off an otherwise innocent appearance. His clothes were simple, t-shirt and cargo pants hanging loose on his lean shape.
“Next to him is Jeongin. He’s studying to become—something biology. Honestly, I didn’t understand what he does. It’s all about mitochondria and other boring stuff.”
A little more on the shy side, Jeongin followed Seungmin and Yuqi’s dialogue instead of creating his own. Like Seungmin, he clothed casual. Standing out was his thick pink hair, which contrasted his initial timid demeanour. A something-biology student with pink hair? Very eye-catching.
“On the couch, that’s Hyunjin, Minho and Chris. Hyunjin is studying art history, and Minho majors in dancing. Chris is a Music major.”
Hyunjin, the one who got pranked out of ten bucks—by Felix, out of all people—was clad in a more fashionable outfit. His grey jeans he had paired with a white button-up, a multitude of jewellery decorating his fingers and neck. Minho wore his hair in a lavender tone, a tight-fitting shirt and black leather pants. Showing off his very toned legs—a dancer, indeed. And Chris. Well, he liked his arms the size of logs, apparently. They were an unexpected contrast to his cutesy laugh, nose scrunching up as he joked with Minho.
“And the boy who can’t keep his eyes off Yuqi, that’s Changbin. Sports major. If you tell him your weight, he will send you a video of him benching it.”
“Yah, I don’t do that for just anyone. Consider yourself lucky,” Changbin interjected. Thankfully, he had only overheard the second part of Jisung’s description.
Ignoring his friend’s words, Jisung concluded his introductory round. “And you already know Felix. He’s studying to become the best teacher in the whole wide world.”
Felix ignored the mocking tone in his friend’s voice, only one of the reasons rendering him perfect for a teaching position. He stood calm whenever needed, not a word taken out of proportion. That much you had already learned from hanging out with him a handful of times. It wasn’t hard to believe, he handled children the same way he did his drunk friends.
“I’m glad you have so many friends with majors now. Maybe, they can help you decide on yours.”
Rolling his eyes at the subject you somehow couldn’t let go, Jisung pulled you from the armrest onto his lap. A tiny yelp escaped your throat, his action surprising. The two of you usually didn’t exchange PDA like that. His advances, therefore, you understood as a sign of the amount of alcohol he had already consumed.
“You will never let this go, will you?”
“Not until I know you’re not just going to university because I’m going.”
You had been gifted with so much drive to go to uni, study, become a manager. Sometimes, you forgot that some people weren’t as lucky to know what they wanted to do with their lives. Your boyfriend was one of those people.
Sure Jisung had hobbies like singing, sports and the occasional guitar session. But other than that, he was pretty clueless about his future. The two of you used to joke about it. Kidding how all the ambition and focus had gone to his sister and once he was born, there was nothing left of it. An innocent joke for as long as it hadn’t been reality.
Now that you were here and for the months leading up to your move, the joke was underlined with more seriousness.
For the longest time, Jisung hadn’t been sure he even wanted to go to university. He had debated going to work right away. Learn something handy, like electric work or nursing. That he didn’t even know a direction to go in didn’t make the decision any easier. In the end, he figured that while you were studying to go into management, he might as well join you. If anything, it could potentially give him an overview of possible fields of work.
After many discussions about your joined future and his role in it, he seemed to be over it. He wanted to explore his options—that’s what he had told you when you two enrolled. And yes, you were proud of him for getting his grades up in the last year of High School. Even if only to share this adventure with you. Though you still needed him to be a little more serious about it. Otherwise, university was four years of him exploring, ending in no degree. Four years wasted, in your eyes.
“I just want to make sure you’re thinking about it.”
“Right now, the only thing I’m thinking about, is taking you to one of the empty bedrooms upstairs.”
His breath fanned over your neck as he whispered into your ear. Goosebumps rose all over your skin, his fingers gracing over your exposed hip. You hadn’t even noticed how your shirt had ridden up before his careful touch. Repositioning yourself to sit sideways on his lap, you bit your lip at his suggestion. Your hand came around his neck, fingers running through the hair at the back of it.
“We just got here,” you chuckled as his arms wrapped around your thighs.
“So?”
“Let’s enjoy the party for a bit, yeah?” Jisung knew a final decision when he heard one, a pout overtaking his face. Good thing you had already taken measures to soften the blow. Years of being with each other gave you the confidence to play your plan as you intended. “I might know a way to make the wait worth our while.”
You smirked as you retrieved a round object from your pocket and pushed it into Jisung’s hand on your thigh. A kiss to his cheek concealed your action, his eyes widening once he realised what you had handed him. A remote control. And not just any old remote control. Connecting the dots, Jisung soon understood that it controlled the matching vibrator inside you. The very same one you had bought for his most recent birthday.
Happy Birthday, indeed, and to both of you.
Judging from his expression, you figured your plan to make his patience worthwhile erected the awaited reaction. Then again, that could have also been him pocking you from below.

This is (former) anon from the "J is the foil character to Uzi" post, hi y'all. I'm gonna elaborate on that post.
A foil character is a character who contrasts with another character in order to highlight certain qualities of that character. This other character is usually the protagonist. The foil character may be an antagonist.
Uzi Doorman is the stereotypical angsty, rebellious teen. She hates following orders. She hates the system she and the other worker drones live under, and she wants to change it. She takes action to change the system. If she stays in line, after all, nothing will change and they'll all die.
Serial Designation J, on the other hand, is very professional, a "lethal workaholic" who is incredibly dedicated to her job. She loves giving out orders, and she follows the ones she's given. She has to be useful, and she looks down upon those who aren't (like N). She has her place in the system, and she's fine with not changing it. If she stays in line, then everything will turn out alright. (restraining myself from writing a whole analysis on J)
These two characters are fundamentally opposites.
J upholds the rules. Uzi breaks them down.
J is dressed professionally, her hair tied up with bows. Uzi is dressed casually, her hair down and covered by a beanie.
And of course, purple and yellow being opposites on the color wheel.
J is there to be the anti-Uzi. I just think that's pretty neat and we don't talk about it enough.

There's a story that's coalescing in my head right now,
I was sitting there wondering how Barbie was going to figure out bowel movements. She's never actually pooped before. She's never actually taken care of herself, her body is new.
How terrifying, Barbie.
Barbie chose to continue her existence, and I hope that Ruth imparted the basic knowledge Barbie needed to at least use her bowels.
But Ruth's been in the basement for 70 years, her knowledge of navigating this world is a little out of date.
Barbie might have a lot of culture and body shock - and did she notice the cellulite first, or did another Barbie? Cellulite is such an interesting thing - it's beautiful, y'know.
And Ken - how does his journey turn out? A lot of children suddenly had Ken dolls.
Speaking of, did America Ferrera's character have the OG Stereotypical Barbie? How does that work? Why did my brain automatically go to Barbie collecting her friends dolls so she could talk to them? (And let's be honest act out some slightly NSFW probably iffy consensual stuff that I'm trying to resist the urge to write)
Or even in that vein, the angsty teenager going back to the real world and telling her friends, also terrifying teenagers, who realize that they might be able to open a portal between worlds
Because they (her friends) worship the ground this kid walks on and even if they don't really believe her are pretty much game to do anything because why not,
But then they accidentally open the door to one of the dinosaur toy worlds. Because groups of angsty teens attract chaos, and now Barbieland has to fend off the Dinosaurs.
Ken might not get a horse (though the Breyer collection might as well let Ken have a horse), but he can have a T-Rex.
And Barbie and America Ferrera and America Ferrera's husband can fall in love. ❤️

One Tree Hill was so good at subverting character tropes.
Nathan starts off the show as an asshole bully. A total asshole jock. And then over time Nathan becomes a better and better person. He strives to be a better person and to make up for his mistakes. He starts hanging out with good people like Haley especially. But he stops hanging out so much with Tim and his other Basketball buddies and he stops allowing his dad to metaphorically poison him and we start to see Nathan become the man I knew he could be. He becomes so likeable and is a near perfect person by the end of the show. Nathan is a rock solid and dependable friend. A loving and present father. A faithful and loving husband. A loyal brother. A truly humble and sweet guy 😁💗
Haley starts the show in that smart bookish girl archetype. You know the one that Joey Potter and Rory Gilmore occupied before her. But Haley proved that she was so much more than that. Haley becomes a cheerleader which is such a twist cause typically the girls in that archetype hate cheerleaders and wouldn't be caught dead in a cheerleaders outfit. Haley is an amazing cook and baker and typically the people in that archetype cannot cook to save their lives and are very proud of it. Though I think Joey Potter was a passable cook. Haley is fucking Martha Stewart though lol. Haley is a musician and a singer and then eventually a music producer. One of my favorite twists is how she was valedictorian. Girls in this trope are destined to be valedictorian. But the twist with Haley is that she's pregnant and goes into labor while giving her valedictorian speech. Teen pregnancy is not usually paired with the smart bookish girl trope.
Brooke is kinda in the bitchy head cheerleader trope. And I hate to say that because when we start the show, she's already trying to change herself. But we do hear from that friend of Lucas' that Brooke was a bitch to her to say the least. Plus Brooke herself would say that she didn't used to be a great person. But Brooke eventually becomes such a great friends. There are some bumps along the way but speaking in general terms she was an advocate for her friends. She became her class' president. She started a successful clothing line while still in high school. She was generous and kind. And then grew into a truly stupendous adult... Brave, forgiving, loving, sweet, and kind. She truly broke out of the bitchy cheerleader mold.
Peyton maybe changes the least out of all the characters but she's a paradox from the beginning. She's a loner cheerleader. Some people scoff at her calling herself a loner cause she's a cheerleader and dating one of the star Basketball players but she does have quite a few loner tendencies.
Lucas is the character who has the closest thing to an inverse character development. When we start the show he's in the poetic, bookish, angsty "nice guy" male protagonist trope with a single mother to boot. The twist on that is that he's also a jock Basketball player. Lucas has good aspects about him. He's a good friend and good brother but if there's one thing he bad at it's being a good boyfriend. I don't want act like Lucas is a horrible person but there is definitely a decline in his character where he goes from being a seemingly perfect person to being severely flawed especially when it comes to his romantic relationships.
What is so great about One Tree Hill is their ability to create likeable characters. Even the characters you don't like at the beginning become likeable. And even Lucas, despite his many flaws, has moments of true greatness. Believe me, it is a skill to write likeable characters and it wasn't until I watched Dawson's Creek that I realized that some writers either have no ability of writing them or they love to write unlikable characters. Every single side character on Dawson's Creek is a one note stereotype and worse of all they are usually insufferable. And the likeable ones they completely mistreated in the writing.

I think this is a good one, if you like to rant a little, what are the (in your opinion) the 5 mfb characters that get misunderstood/mischaracterized the most, by the fandom?
oh my! surprise 5 things? in my inbox? more likely than you’d think
also this is such a good one I have so much to say on this
5. Kira’s frequent mistreatment makes me sad because he’s a very interesting and complex character with SO much to explore in regards to his upbringing and trauma and how that affects his character in the present and going forward, but a lot of people tend to portray him as a very one note crAaAaAzy villain and sexualize him to some of the worst degrees just because of his character design. It’s really unfortunate because there’s so much to love about him but it is a minefield trying to find anything for him
4. I’m not gonna blame people for misunderstanding and mistreating the garcias bc the show doesn’t even respect them but I’m still gonna be upset about it. I could go on and on about why the garcias were so poorly handled but like, when you think about their characters a little harder, you can really easily understand them from a more sympathetic view and how not only their environment but the way they were treated and used by the adults around them shaped how they behave throughout the series and like. Again, not blaming anyone for disliking them or seeing them solely as static villains bc they are not well written at all but I do wish people would give them a little more nuance, yk? I’ve taken the liberty of taking sole custody over them bc I could treat them so much better than the show, so I might be on of the only people who really sees this perspective just bc of how much I’ve diluted myself with my own noncanon analysis but yk.
3. I’m gonna go ahead and lump kyomado together because while I do think people don’t treat them with the nuance they deserve on their own, it is 10x worse when it comes to people shipping them specifically. And that makes me especially mad because kyomado was one of my first ships in any fandom and I still really like them together, but Jesus Christ people take them in the worst direction possible. It’s always so stereotypical with Kyoya being the cool hot closed off and aggressive one and Madoka being sweet and kind and submissive to him and it’s like. No!!! NO‼️‼️💥💥💥💥💥 They’re characters are so interesting together in my eyes because they’re relationship is built on mutual respect and ability to stand up to each other. Yes Madoka can be sweet and caring to him, but she is in no way submissive and is readily able to challenge him and call out his bullshit. Yes Kyoya can be cold and aggressive but he is not some abusive shitty YA male lead, he’s an angsty teen who genuinely recognizes Madoka’s abilities and respects her. I think you could make a similar argument for how people treat him with Hikaru as well but I personally find it far worse with Madoka, which makes me so sad bc I love this ship but hate a lot of the shippers and content for it :(
2. Gingka i dont think is as prevalent today, but I have seen the horrors and my god are they rough. The woobification of Gingka Hagane is an actual crime and should be treated as such. Im not even that big a Gingka stan or anything but I become fucking enraged whenever I see him portrayed as some soft and submissive uwu boy because there is so much more complexity and depth to his character and yaoifying him does that such a disservice. Idfk what show they were watching because in no universe is Gingka some sweet and innocent soft boy.
1. Damian. DAMIAN 100% IS THE WORST AND IT MAKES ME SO MAD. IDK WHAT IT IS ABOUT HIM THAT ATTRACTS FREAKS BUT 99% OF DAMIAN STANS ARE ABSOLUTELY VILEEEEE AND I HAVE NO RESERVATIONS IN SAYING THAT. It genuinely makes me so viscerally upset because I love Damian, he’s one of my favorite characters and I go absolutely rabid every time I think about him but OH MY GOD the way this fandom treats him is so awful. I mean it when I say it disgusts me how much people oversexualize him and mischaracterize him as some dominant and cool sex god or whatever because it is just so far from what he actually is and HES LIKE 13 ALSO????? LIKE YOU CANT EVEN KID YOURSELF INTO THINKING HE MIGHT BE ON THE OLDER END HE IS GENUINELY PINT SIZED AND ACTS LIKE A SPOILED CHILD THAT IS A FUCKING KID. Damian is an incredibly complex and interesting character with so much depth and lore. He is a deeply traumatized child with a godcomplex who screams when he gets dirty or his worldview is challenged, he is not some sexy flirtatious guy who’s got everything together. It’s one thing to focus solely on the power scaling side of him and disregard his character, but it’s a whole nother thing to sexualize him and remove him so far from the context of his story for the sake of whatever these freaks are on about.

The Scapegracers by H.A. Clarke
An outcast teenage lesbian witch finds her coven hidden amongst the popular girls in her school, and performs some seriously badass magic in the process.
Skulking near the bottom of West High’s social pyramid, Sideways Pike lurks under the bleachers doing magic tricks for Coke bottles. As a witch, lesbian, and lifelong outsider, she’s had a hard time making friends. But when the three most popular girls pay her $40 to cast a spell at their Halloween party, Sideways gets swept into a new clique. The unholy trinity are dangerous angels, sugar-coated rattlesnakes, and now–unbelievably–Sideways’ best friends.
Together, the four bond to form a ferocious and powerful coven. They plan parties, cast curses on dudebros, try to find Sideways a girlfriend, and elude the fundamentalist witch hunters hellbent on stealing their magic. But for Sideways, the hardest part is the whole ‘having friends’ thing. Who knew that balancing human interaction with supernatural peril could be so complicated? - Storygraph
Reading this book was like shooting a glorious cocktail of Joan Jett, The Craft, and glorious butch lesbian energy straight into my veins. Angry girl gangs are a trope right up my alley and The Scapegracers doesn’t disappoint. What I really appreciated was the core dynamic of the group. With your typical girl groups à la Heathers or Mean Girls, once the power structure is threatened, the girls basically turn on each other and rip the others to shreds. Here, it’s clear that these friends are ride or die for each other to a somewhat intimidating degree. If anyone dares to hurt one of their own, it’s open season and the aftermath is going to be bloody. High school party legends Jing, Daisy, and Yates never really fall into the holier than thou popular rich girl group stereotype, as they readily bring witchy loner Sideways into the fold once they see that her abilities are no joke. Despite their reputations, they’re very earnest in their intentions, and do what they can to make her feel welcome. It’s a welcome departure from the usual popular kids embracing the school loser story and leads to some great interactions between them all.
Sideways is a character that is all barbed wire and jagged edges. Like many an angry queer teen, she desires to kick a hole square in the face of the universe and disregard any sort of conventional living. Some may find her personality and narration abrasive, but it absolutely jives with the tone and direction of the story. She is just the right amount of pissed off for the audience to cheer her on while not being totally put off by her attitude. I think what also really helps is that we are shown constantly that Sideways is not a totally unfeeling person. There are people that she loves, like her amazing, incredibly supportive dads, Julian and Boris, as well as her new friends and mysterious crush. It goes a long way in humanizing her and shows that what she ultimately wants is some sort of connection to others.
Tangent here, but Julian and Boris are probably some of the best parents I’ve come across in young adult fiction. Julian is the kind parent prone to flustering over the safety of his daughter, but at the same time is all for her joining up with a girl gang to act as a counter for the wealth of meathead jocks in the area. Boris is the more reserved of the two, still caring for Sideways and shares many interests with her, but is also respectful of her space and her secrets. Again loving the shakeups to the typical YA format of an angsty teen who is constantly at odds with their parents that only serve as another obstacle for them to face.
The treatment of magic in this world feels very unique, as it focuses more on its physical effects to the caster rather than solely on its outcomes. Magic is treated as this force that runs all throughout the body when in use, feelings of electricity and chills, coupled with coppery tastes on the tongue and sensations that defy reality. It makes magic more than just saying a cryptic word and hoping that it works, it is an elemental force that you dish out with your entire body. The magic in Scapegracers is chaotic, twisting and shaping itself based on the specific witch, better when done improvised and in the moment. I really like this interpretation, as it appears as this unpredictable power that can be called on in certain situations rather than completely mastered.
On the whole, a fantastic read if you’re looking for some hardcore witchy vibes and a tough-as-nails girl gang that would definitely conquer the world if given the chance. I found it a bit slow to start at the beginning, but after a few chapters it really picks up and doesn’t slow down until the very end.

Welcome to the first official introduction of my original Magical Girl Story Little Beast Magica and her 8 most important characters! Some more fun little facts/mini-profiles under the cut but aside from that enjoy my sillies (and one not so silly !)
Lillith Young (voiced by Kimiko Glenn)
The Main Character! Good for her
After the death of her parents 2 years ago, Lillith one day starts dreaming of a strange world (Paradium) where Bug-Themed magical girls exist, working hard to protect their world from mysterious monsters that want to destroy everything. Wacky! Seems like perfect escapism to me!
Her eventual magical girl outfit (and powers) are Caterpillar (who are we kidding, Caterpie) themed!
Hortensia Sato (voiced by Stephanie Sheh)
Stereotypical "Excitable and Quirky Best Friend !!" She would do numbers on a Disney Channel Sitcome
We love her tho
Within Paradium, Magical Girls attend a special academy to train to be Magical Girls, and Hortensia is one of those trainees. After Lillith starts appearing in their world, Hortensia is the only other trainee with space available in her dorm, so Lillith moves in and now They're Besties and VERY excited to be magical girls together!!! Yippee!!! Surely her child-like naivety and optimism won't come around to bite her!
Her magical girl theme is a Honeybee!
Adonis Flor (voiced by Jeremy Jordan)
The #1 Best-At-Everything Magical Girl currently active in Paradium! He is favored by the narrative (me) and that is not a good thing for him!
Lillith's first exposure to Magical Girls when she arrived in Paradium, and BOY what an impression he made! He's very charming and good-natured, a real Superman type. Surely there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with him mentally, nothing at all! Just don't ask about his scar, why his hair isn't the same color as his eyebrows, anything about his childhood or anything about his personal life in general (here's a hint: he doesn't have one)
His Magical Girl theme is the Atlas Moth
Anh Freeman (voiced by Jordan Fisher)
Where Adonis is the general "best" Magical Girl, Anh is the one with the most Social Presence/Influence. He is litcherally an Influencer!
Another perspective on one's role and responsibilities within the Magical Girl system. While quite a few people don't quite respect Anh for how much he values the way he's viewed by the public, he's still a incredibly competent and celebrated Magical Girl. And, despite his VERY HEALTHY social media presence, he maintains a very strict Work-Life balance (helped by his PR manager and sister, Lin)
(although this is slightly undermined by his huge and pathetic unrequited Gay Crush on Adonis. He's been crushing since he was 12 he ain't stopping soon)
His Magical Girl theme is a dragonfly, specifically the Ebony Jewelwing Dragonfly!
Tacca Cuppheo (voiced by John Gallagher Jr.)
A very under-the-radar, disillusioned, play-by-his-own-rules kind of Magical Girl.
Is one of the VERY VERY FEW Magical Girls officially assigned to guarding/patrolling The Treeline, the part of Paradium bordering the forest where the monsters come from and thus the most vulnerable to attacks and plague breakouts. You'd think he'd be bitter from the sucky assignment, but his family is from The Treeline. Being able to protect it was his whole reason for becoming a Magical Girl, so he is perfectly content to let the higher ups ignore him and let him do his job as he pleases.
He thinks he likes being lonely, but he doesn't. He just never healthily grew out of his Angsty Teen phase (but he's getting there)
His Magical Girl theme is a Yellowjacket!
Valerian Allium (voiced by Eden Espinosa)
A Magical Girl a bit too obsessed with rankings and very good at getting in her own way. Kind of Lillith's self-proclaimed rival once she graduates.
Very angsty and stingy with her tragic backstory. All we got is that she is very determined to climb the ranks of Magical Girl-hood and to "prove herself." To who, I don't think even she is sure. A LOT of bark, but not as much bite - while she is quite Catty to Lillith and Hortensia when they first enter the field, she's pretty easily worn down to "vague tolerance" of the two.
Her Magical Girl theme is the Black Widow
(Fun fact, she doesn't know how to swim as inspired by the apparently MULTIPLE Black Widows that have drowned in my pool)
David Buleia (voiced by Clancy Brown)
Literally someone make him retire. A very Jaded Magical Girl far past his prime.
Being as uh... wise and experienced (aka old) as he is, he is assigned as Lillith's mentor once she graduates. He also ends up picking up Hortensia along the way since she and Lillith are a package deal. He is initially VERY against this idea, but as all grizzled old dudes tend to do, he gets very attached to the two very quickly.
His Magical Girl theme is the Rhinoceros Beetle (tbh, more Heracross than anything)
Ambassador Crina Allium (voiced by Meryl Streep)
As you can probably figure by the fact she's the only yt woman in this lineup, The Eventual Main Villain!
Once a very high performing Magical Girl, kind of the Adonis of her time. After she retired from field work, she worked her way up to Ambassador (aka basically CEO) of the Magical Girl program! What a girlboss!
Other notable feats include being Valerian's very subpar mother, Adonis' mentor/mother figure and the bane of Tacca and David's existence
Doles out Mommy Issues like they're candy

LITERALLY SPITTING STRAIGHT FACTS. The fact this is so prominent with teen female characters as well, think about it, anytime we have a teen/adolescent female character in anything she either gets infantilized, or sexualized. ESPECIALLY in superhero movies any female character is either a mom/maternal figure, their daughter/bratty angsty teen, 1 dimensional love interest or the “damsel in distress”, or a 1 dimensional “badass” who’s only character trait is that she’s badass and a women.
In a way it reminds me of the Madonna-whore complex, women are always either portrayed as a maternal figure or as a 1 dimensional character. And I love spiderverse for harnessing this, and being actually creative with their camel characters, Gwen alone breaks this stereotype for female superhero’s. She makes mistakes, she has flaws, she’s allowed to have a love interest but her ENTIRE story doesn’t revolve around him, she actually has a life, and a story, and her own problems! And the amount of detail put into her backstory and character challenges makes her such an amazing a deep character
People mischaracterize Gwen so much because she doesn’t fit into the 2D standards of most female representation we see in media. I think Gwen gets hated on so much because the majority of superhero fandoms aren’t used to seeing an empowered female character that isn’t overly sexualized, or infantilized. Gwen represents the struggles of so many teen girls, and the way her story is written makes her character so unique which people aren’t used to seeing.
Anyways I love Gwen so much, and tbh not liking her is a red flag just saying
Gwen is actually such a complex and deep character but people mischaracterize her SO MUCH. Anyways I love Gwen and she’s so underrated

Can I ask you for more headcanons about Tomoko and dad Skeptic? Do you have a timeline in mind for her? Like What she’d be like at different ages?
(Gosh yes! But don’t quote me on it just in case I change the story up later on down the line lol)
~Tomoko’s Timeline~
Tumblr media
(1-3 yrs old)
Crybaby crybaby unless she’s in her daddy’s arms. I tell you from the moment she came into this world, her and Skeptic have been inseparable. Don’t fret! There are still sometimes where she can’t bear to be held by anyone else but you either. It just seems like there are more times for him than for you. It’s all good though, considering she never wanted to sleep as a baby and usually fought it when she was placed down for a nap!
(4-5 yrs old)
Her relationship with you and Skeptic has only gotten stronger. She’s still more attached to him so don’t take much offense. The two of them can often be seen in the computer/home office. He’s working and she’s coloring right next to him at the desk. She becomes a bit curious about things and often tries to touch daddy’s computer when he leaves for bathroom break. There was one time when he was working on an important work project that she completely deleted by accident. You thought he would have popped a blood vessel but he simply took a deep breath and gently scolded her. “Now sweetheart, try not to touch daddy’s computer like that. You mess up his very hard work and he has to do it again okay? Oh...oh no. No Tomo, don’t cry please!” Skeptic is heartbroken he’s made his little girl cry so easily but they’re just some of her famous fake tears she can turn off at the drop of a hat so no worries.
(6-10 yrs old)
She’s become more curious about the world around her. You’d call her a brainiac but a silly one at the same time. She’s got a lot of energy at this point in her life. So she’s always running around and up to something. At the same time, she sits still and soaks up so much information. You’re positive she’ll be as smart as her father someday. The downside might be the way she asks a million questions a minute for the both of you. Unfortunately some of them are harder than others (the dreaded ‘where do babies come from’ question), but between you and Tomoyasu it’s handled pretty well. I think around ten you end up signing her up for softball lessons. You always figured she’d want to do dance but it seems more like she’s attached to more energetic and wild things rather than orderly and graceful. She also collects bugs under rocks and can climb the hell out of any tree. It’s impressive and you love bragging about it to the other parents.
(teen years)
As much as I’m sorry for always pandering to the angsty teen stereotype (Nemoto Family AU for example) I’ve already made headcanons about her being this way long before she even had an official name lol. Skeptic is having a hard time accepting this more than you. Things have shifted drastically. You’ve even seemed to become the favorite parent considering you tended to be more relaxed with her choices than he is. He’s becomes a little too controlling sometimes. It’s rough for a girl to actually live when he dad has LITERAL surveillance satellites trained on her at all times. She’s acted out of spite toward him a few times. She’s gotten some piercings and even a tattoo as well. Boy you remember that argument as clear as day. The moment when everything really shifted was shortly after she turned 18. She snuck out to a concert with her partner that Skeptic already wasn’t pleased about. He caught her coming back home in the middle of the night and you swore the whole block could hear the two of them at each other’s throats. The kicker was when she’d shouted that she never asked to be born and she wished she’d ever had a father like him. He went completely silent and she pushed past him straight upstairs and into her room, slamming the door on the way up. I think it was one of the only times you’d heard Skeptic sniffle. The house was silent and awkward for the next day or so. But it was for the best considering the two of them apologized to each other when the night rolled around. It lead to some pretty healthy venting where she’s ended up telling him how suffocated she felt throughout high school. He also admitted it was difficult to see her growing up so fast since he felt like he was losing his babygirl right before his eyes. They apologized again, and the relationship had been repaired just as it used to be.
(adulthood)
Leaving for college broke the two of you but at the same time you were both so proud of your baby. She’d originally majored in tech just like Skeptic but eventually her heart settled on journalism (which her auntie Curious helped her with tremendously). By now she graduated, found a nice girl and settled down in the city not too far from you. Although a lot of the others are starting to pry for grandkids, you know your baby is far comfortable with her three cats for now! She still visits often, and with her NOW fiancé. It’s hard to say which person proposed first, but you don’t doubt it was Tomoko lol. Who knows, maybe down there line there will be a new set of tiny feet pitter-pattering down the halls of your long since empty nest. Especially with the way Skeptic had been at you lately. You’d likely never forget the night he rolled over and stared you dead in the face before saying “Let’s make/adopt another one...”

I saw people post this quite some time ago, but I wanna know your take on it.
What type of High School stereotype would the Main Red Queen characters be?
Also, here are some super cute Chibi photos:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hi bestie!! and hello beautiful graceful creature (lookin' particularly graceful on the 3rd pic lol) Pets basking in sunlight are living ART.
Stereotypes let's go: Victoria made this super easy for us with their first book personalities.
Mare is the wrong-side-of-the-tracks "bad girl" who forges her parents' signature to get tattoos before turning 18. skips class, does weird things to her hair, high key an asshole to most humans but punches bullies in her spare time. Unironically called herself "one of the boys" on one occasion. Her relentless goodness can't stay hidden for long though and by her senior year she has a cult following of the underdogs and nerds she protected. Got a tattoo in honor of the first boy she loved that now is crossed out, but still there. Sometimes she still loves him, despite the fact that she hates him. May or may not be hooking up with the prom king behind the bleachers after class. Sources differ.
Kilorn is that weird guy who gets along with everyone. Resident stoner. Socially he can only be described as a capybara. Friendzoned king. Surprises everyone by getting into an ivy league college after having struggled with his grades all through high school.
Evangeline is the effortless queen bee. She has the money, the looks, the personality to be the uncontested ruler. A little mean, but doesn't go out of her way to bully anyone. Mess with her or her friends and get ready for your life to turn into hell. Never repeats an outfit and never wears colors. Supreme eyeliner game.
Farley is the androgynous activist who wears plaid 24/7 and a fanny pack but still looks aggressively cool. If you're in need of a tampon, a bandaid, a lighter, a knife, or an advocate in an unfair situation, Farley is your girl. School authorities hate that they can't get rid of her because she's an exceptional student. Obs, she's a natural leader and kids follow her. (I'm in the group, kissing the ground she walks on and writing her love poems in secret 🙃)
Cal is the wholesome jock who throws epic parties every weekend. Hated and loved in equal measure and all for the wrong reasons. Upon closer inspection, his father is the one throwing the parties and Cal is sneaking away to the garage to angsty listen to 80's rock, lying on top of the hood of the Camaro he's been working on, looking at the ceiling. 100% does that TV show teen thing of throwing a ball up and down while lying in bed. After a run-in with the school's Bad Girl™ where she drags him for filth for being a privileged fuck, he starts volunteering as a tutor for troubled kids and finds out he's amazing at it.
Maven is the quiet nerd who seems nice and inconsequential at first, but turns out to be full of destructive tendencies and a scary amount of resentment to a long list of people, his famous father and perfect brother at the top of it. Impeccable wardrobe, charming as hell, very low battery for social gatherings. A simp for his sunny boyfriend. Ironically, despite not getting invited to a lot of parties, he still gets elected class president by an overwhelming majority of the votes. Befriends Mare and they have a codependent friendship that gets increasingly toxic until they have a dramatic falling out that leaves them scarred for life.

aph Nordics, but make it ✨ angsty teen drama on netflix ✨
APH DENMARK :
Denmark would 100000% be the popular footballer guy who bullies all the rest of them (except Åland and Norway). He’s failing all his classes and his parents threaten if he doesn’t keep his grades up they force him to stop playing football. he doesn’t really learn anything, and he doesn’t have any character development, but the writers rlly try and convince you he has somehow become friends with Finland
APH FINLAND :
Entire personality trait = being fat. he gets bullied for it, his parents bully him for it, he’s incredibly sad and miserable. he is, however, the teacher’s favourite (after Faroe) bc he’s just such a sweet kid. He spends the entire show being nice to everyone and yet he’s still somehow hated bc he’s a bit on the chubby side (bonus: he’s not actually that fat). Finland’s ‘character development’ is Denmark helping him lose weight by getting him on the football team and getting a girlfriend.
APH ICELAND :
hahaha what’s a family? Iceland was abandoned as a baby and whilst he was taken in by a loving and kind woman she dies after like 5 episodes. iceland wears all black, is the outsider cool edgy boi (he dyed his hair black (when he was 9) bc his natural colour was too ‘happy looking’) he smokes weed everytime he’s on camera and rejects anything popular. eventually there’s a plot twist that iceland’s norway’s brother and he has to go live with him and his parents, but he decides that life is not for him and steals money and runs away.
APH NORWAY :
rich bitch. norway has seemingly everything that anyone could ever want: lots of money and a beautiful rich girlfriend who his parents have been his wedding to since they were like 5. Norway thinks and acts like he owns the entire world (and yes, he does have many “DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM” moments). Norway finds out Faroe’s secret (we’ll get into that later) and threatens to expose it to the entire school, after she begs him not to he agrees on the condition that she sits with him at lunch (his girlfriend goes to another school and his snobby attitude mean he doesn’t have friends). the two develop a friendship, they fall in love, he leaves his girlfriend for her. his parents, who ignore his entire existence most of the time, get rlly mad and norway, like iceland, also steals money and runs away. norway is the only character to actually show some character development.
APH SWEDEN :
aph Sweden would lose his ENTIRE personality and the writers would make him the definition of a stereotypical gay boy. he has a crush on denmark- even though denmark bullies him- and overall any trace of a storyline he’s supposed to have is dropped after one episode and he instead just... is there? he serves a purpose in Åland’s storyline but that’s about it.
FAROE ISLANDS :
there’s always a student x teacher relationship, and Faroe just so happens to be the student in it. She is constantly slut shamed by her peers for wearing short clothing and the only reason she doesn’t get dress-coded is bc that stuff doesn’t exist in these things, on top of that her family constantly forgets all about her very existence. the teacher dramatically leaves her (he claims he’ll never love again after her, that kinda thing) a few days after norway finds out about them. norway and faroe discover they relate to one another a lot both having 0 friends and a family who acts as though they don’t exist. faroe literally just ends up running away from her family and they don’t notice. she doesn’t have character development.
ÅLAND ISLANDS :
Åland is the popular girl, she for some reason doesn’t realise Sweden is gay and develops a crush on him. She tries to pursue something but it doesn’t go too well and the writers accidentally make it so eventually she tries to convert Sweden into liking women. it doesn’t work and Sweden does go on a whole speech to her (which is meant to be so inspiring. it isn’t.) to put her in her place but she doesn’t actually learn anything and her behaviour gets excused bc her dad divorced her mum when she was really young and now she’s just desperate for all potential relationships to work out. sweden ends up apologising to her and she doesn’t learn anything and is just completely and utterly unlikeable.

there’s a lot of different stories i’ve thought about for him, but here’s the one that i’ve stuck to the most(and it’s probably gonna change someday)
Kendrick is just an average ass junior, falls in love with his version of a gwen stacy. nerd stereotype all honors/AP classes. Gwen introduces Kendrick to a high-tech science institute where she volunteers. while gwen was in another part of the institute, he decided to look around by himself. staring at an enclosure hes definitely not meant to be at, he gets is bitten by the radioactive spider, granting him the basic spider-man superpowers. while he struggles to control his new abilities, he becomes distant from Gwen, causing her to suspect he's cheating and break up with him. frustrated, Kendrick focuses on mastering his powers and creates a messy Spider-Man suit to patrol the city.
i said this in another post but this is the spider he got bit by 😁 i saw a post saying that all spider-men’s suits are loosely based on the spider they were bit by, so i saw this and went with the skull design
Tumblr media
while all of this is happening, PRONE is having his uprising(i’m gonna explain his story some other day i still don’t have it all sorted out). PRONE discovers Kendrick's secret identity and kidnaps Gwen to lure him into a trap. kendrick rushes to save her, even though he can’t do much as he hasn’t really developed a fighting technique(which is why in his fully developed design he used guns cause he never had anybody to teach him n never took it upon himself). the fight was definitely unfair, and PRONE was getting really annoyed at how much gwen was flailing and yelling for help. nobody was coming, anyways. accidentally, but to his delight, PRONE swings his spear-type weapon to slash at kendrick but slices gwen across her chest and throat instead. she’s gone.
torn apart by the way gwen had tragically died, kendrick starts isolating himself emotionally and distancing from friends and family. he was only 16. His grief and anger cloud his judgment, making him more reckless in his fights against PRONE. of course, PRONE exploits Kendrick's instability, haunting his dreams with inescapable nightmares of the event happening over and over again.
during an emotional episode, he lashes out at his mom, and decides to go out for a walk in some fresh air. his mother was single and doing the best she could to raise her angsty teen, alongside his uncle who was doing whatever he could to help considering he lived with them but didn’t pay for shit. his uncle goes out after him, trying to go find him, which doesn’t end up well. instead of kendrick coming to his senses when confronted by his uncle, he got into another argument. while his uncle is on the way back home, annoyed and leaving kendrick to find his way back once he was done with his little fit, he gets mugged in an alley. after all of his valuables were gone, he was shot. kendrick coincidentally finds his uncle there on the brink of death, and hears the iconic words.
he stops being a hero for a while. everything is his fault, isn’t it? his uncle is dead, his first love is dead. he doesn’t talk to his mom and he’s declining in school, all because he couldn’t just fess up to gwen that he got bitten by a spider and has some powers.
his city begins to crumble at the hands of PRONE, and he decides to bring his head up once again. he can’t be upset about everything being his fault if he’s persistently ignoring everything around him.
he evolves as a character, becomes more consistent, has his whole redemption arc. i haven’t gone in depth past him beginning his redemption arc, though.
most of this i just thought of in like 10 minutes because all i have are bits and pieces of a story i once knew like the back of my hand 😭
do you have a spidersona of your own?
yeah i have a few but honestly theyre old and dusty i forgot about them
i made a post about some of them
btw here’s the drawing of kendrick (current sona)
i hate it i hate it i hate it i hate it i hate my old style😛🔪🔪🔪
Tumblr media
i’m probably gonna do a redraw of him soon but if you want me to elaborate on his story i can ‼️ as well as his antagonist

Some basic character write ups for time loop:
Dennis - 38. doesn’t remember who he’s been for the past fifteen years, extremely at odds with what he finds out about himself and also extremely, viscerally bothered by it. Affable and out-going, this version of Dennis is relatively empathetic with a certain awkward charm and a very nice smile. Built like a linebacker turned small town dad but i can promise you this motherfucker has never touched a football willingly. Keeps his face clean shaven and has pretty square features.
Sylvester or Sly - 35 but looks simultaneously 40 and 20. Is on a cross country soul search after a mutual breakup with a long time girlfriend and quitting his accounting job and is now stuck in a time loop in a town he hadn’t planned spending more than a week in. Is generally quiet and observant with a shrewd look about him but can be hotheaded and confrontational as he has a habit of bottling things up. Wears a leather jacket and recently re-pierced his ears (and a few other things) as he’s going through an early mid-life crisis. Smokes like a fiend and has a few tattoos. Keeps his curly hair short and had it bleached recently but the black roots are very much showing through the blonde.
Minnie - Dennis’ housewife. 34. Blond haired, blue eyed middle class white lady. Strict mother and well liked in the community. Clearly had other aspirations other than housewife. Does part-time work as a bookkeeper for people around town. Spends a lot of time with the church and is extremely afraid of losing her family even if she’s grown to resent her husband.
Timothy or Tim - Dennis’ 14 year old son. Angsty teen boy into rock music and video games. Unknowingly shares his dad’s interest in art. Has big ‘older sibling syndrome’. Dennis learns very quickly Tim is not a ‘Dennis’ fan, though they used to be close when he was a child.
Angela or Angie - Dennis’ 8 year old daughter. Loves her papa. Very outgoing kid with an interest in basketball and softball.
Marmalade - a shorthair calico cat that spends most of her time at home with Tim or Minnie if Dennis isn’t home. Has no real love for Angie.
Denise - 39. Plucky secretary for the local police station. One of the few people who unironically likes Dennis and knows almost as much about about him, if not more in some areas, as Minnie. Minnie is very sure Dennis is cheating on her with Denise. Is a lesbian.
Sheriff Joe - 58. sheriff of the town. Jolly looking guy. Stereotypical white conservative small town cop.

Hello, Days8! Could you tell us about your most favorite recent reads?
Oh? My personal favorite recent reads?!  Okay!  I have 5 I want to talk about!
So, in case I didn’t RAVE enough about these two socmed!AUs on Twitter, here we go again.
“Catalyst” by @himatauzumaki - Rated T, Celebrity AU, Socmed format, Ongoing.  Giant entertainment idols Hinata Hyuga and Naruto Uzumaki are invited to the highest-profile performance of the year: MAMA, the Mnet Asian Music Awards.  With rising media attention, amid behind-the-scenes trouble brewing among friends, family, and ex-lovers, Hinata and Naruto need to somehow maintain their picture-perfect reputations.
“A Little White Lie” by Trinity (bakugousbby) - Rated M, High School AU, Socmed format, Ongoing. Hinata posts a picture of a boy to ward off her creepy stalker. The only problem? She chose the wrong boy.
I was obsessed with these for a solid two weeks, was completely considering how to stop ficcing like old news and create a social media au, and then I finally decided that it’s too much work.  I don’t have enough investment to go searching for the perfect photographs, edit them, create text threads and posts on top of creating a plot, writing the actual story, and figuring out how to post it.  But himatauzumaki and trinity are up for the challenge!!!  And they do it so beautifully!!
“Catalyst” has THICK plot.  As a fanfiction on its own, it would have been wonderful to read.  As a socmed AU, I feel like I’m watching a Jdrama or Kdrama???  It’s like watching a movie!!  The characterization feels beautiful and realistic, too!
“A Little White Lie” is literally the funniest NaruHina story I’ve ever read.  I’ve never laughed so much while reading a story.  I can just tell that Trinity has a lot of fun with her characters, and so it’s SO FUN to read.  Angst is just, like, not a thing??  The situations are stereotypically high school “angsty” but trinity resolves them with humor, and I love it!!!
Truly those are the best reads I’ve had recently.  They’re everything that I’ve ever wanted to see, combining my love for NaruHina with aesthetic photography and Asian models/musicians.  Reading those fics are like scrolling through my own Tumblr blog.
Since then, hmmmmmmm,,,,
I think my recent favorite reads were both by @badluckbrebis!
“A Shirt, a Neckerchief and my Bag on my Shoulders” - Rated E, High School Summer Camp AU, Multi-chapter, Ongoing. Hinata is freezing cold as she washes up in a nearby stream despite the poor weather, until Naruto unexpectedly shows up to shelter her...
“Hold Me in Your Memory” - Rated E, Police/Crime/Time Travel AU, Multi-chapter, Ongoing. When 2008 rookie Detective Uzumaki Naruto discovers that he can communicate with 2019 Crime analyst Hyūga Hinata, they embark together on a manhunt that defies space and time. But, can the two of them really face the Rinnegan Killer, the serial killer that destroyed both their lives?
So the summer camp AU is totally up my ally.  Imanga really knew what she was doing when she gifted me that fic 😂💖
Thank you💘
It’s awkward teens pining and flirting ❤️, and I swear that half my own works are exactly that.  Still, it includes aspects of French/camping culture, so it’s something that’s completely different!!  It has that 🙊 kinkiness with the outdoor aspect, and the daring smut reminds me of bunnyhoodlum’s or breakfastinbed’s style.  Awkward & flirty first love + culture + kinky smut is the perfect combination to me!
I read “Hold Me in Your Memory” last night while answering the Time Travel AU recommendations ask, and time travel is not something that I’d normally read, but!  This story reminded me of utsus’ unfinished Detective AU “Stolen Beginnings”, but with the time travel twist, and of course, this time Naruto is one of the detectives rather than suspects.  It also reminded me of bunnyhoodlum’s “Powerless” because of the gruesome and high-stakes murders.  Like, Imanga really went there.  The plot is bold and the characterization of Naruto and Hinata is a little different from the usual, taking into account how the murders messed up their lives.  SOOOOOOooooo, yeah.  This one’s going to be on my mind....considering how I just compared it to two of my Top 5s, I’m looking forward to seeing how this story turns out!
Last, I came across a Boxer!Naruto and Nurse!Hinata AU :DDDDD  Ever since I read martial artist!Naruto in katarinahime’s “(common side effects)”, I’ve wanted to read more!  This one is very sweet!!!
“Seeing Stars” by Free Mentality - Rated T, Modern AU, One-shot. They had been attending the same boxing gym for months before he noticed her, and the first time they met was a bit of a disaster, to say the least.
Thank you for asking, anon!  I love talking about good fanfiction :D
