You know I'm so glad that they kind of confirmed in Cooldown that it could have been ANY Ruidusborn that freed Predathos. Imogen (and Fearne) wasn't "chosen", she was just a normal lonely girl who was looking for a place to belong. She was vulnerable to the pull of Predathos exactly the same way every other Ruidusborn was. It didn't care who came; it just happened to be her.

It was *Ludinus* who needed a super special Exaltant One in order to steal their essence and take their place. While releasing Predathos on the universe will almost certainly have terrible world-ending consequences, Ludinus was the one who ruined Imogen's life and singled her out. She isn't the main character in the story of Exandria, she's the main character in Ludinus's.

Bruce tries to adopt Ellie, who is immediately against it. She keeps throwing him off her trail and he keeps tracking her down. She's honestly concerned, and normally she would handle her problems by herself- but this is Batman.

So when Bruce gets a little too close and Ellie is just so tired... she calls for Danny.

"Mom!"

Cue college student, perpetually tired and overworked Danny "High King Phantom" Fenton appearing from the very shadows Batman normally does himself, seeing the situation and going off at this "clearly older man" chasing his daughter in the middle of the night.

Cue the most elaborate "stop trying to adopt my kid before I adopt yours" series of battles

I want. Four to get appreciation. Because

Four gave a ton of unnoticed help when Twilight was injured

The fight with Wild was difficult, and I know we're all concerned about his negative view of the shadow crystal

But Four did something that no one else really thought of to help- He took care of Twi's stuff

From the beginning he told Twilight to not worry about them

So Four took care of pretty much everything but the others (that Sky and Wars handled)

He took care of Epona

Which is so very important- he took care of Twilight's horse. After her arrival at the stable Four followed up on her

And for Epona, a horse so attached to her human, having some company can help so much for reassurance

He took care of Twilight's stuff

He got Twi's shield- his bags and equipment, and organized it into one place

And he was worried. He obviously found the shadow crystal while handling Twi's stuff, but his negative reactions to it were out of concern.

Also- because of his placement in this scene

I'm fairly convinced Four was ready to start cooking before Wild showed up (since he's beside the counter with food supplies). At the very least he had the basket of fruit out for everyone -but he was literally standing with food behind him- he thought of everything

And he did housekeeping!

Wars payed for the inn, so Four took care of the inn

Realistically these boys were probably not too concerned with tidyness. Four got all of Twi's things on one table, and took care of the room they stayed in

Organizing tables and Twi's things, having food supplies ready, and opening the curtains- overall he was the one tidying up the inn

Four helped in a huge way! He took care of Twi's horse (Epona is so important), his equipment and shield and bag, as well as the other rooms in the inn

Four filled in all the little tasks that others didn't think of. He helped in ways that were needed, but not obvious

There's a lot of problems with the shadow crystal and with Wild, and I don't know what's gonna happen in the future

But don't forget this- don't forget that Four was one who stepped up in an almost unnoticeable way

Don't forget that when everyone was barely holding it together, Four visited Twilight's horse and took care of his things

No matter what develops in the future- this amount of care shown is important ya know?

Watched more deleted scenes and it’s so clear that Mae saw Noa as a potential friend. Not just as a tool to use or an inevitable enemy.

During the campfire scene after Mae reveals she can speak, her and Noa were going to have a moment to themselves where they were going to talk about what they saw in the telescope & about the meaning of dreams. It was a very vulnerable conversation of Noa talking about his father and Mae talking about her mother. They were bonding not only over their mutual confusion about stars and space, but also over their parents.

Towards the end of the convo, Noa says something self deprecating and Mae stops him, saying he’s different from the others, before she walks away to sleep.

It was a really nice, touching moment between the two and I don’t think Mae was lying. Even she seemed surprised by her own sincerity. Like she’s still grappling with the idea that maybe Noa is different. Maybe apes aren’t all the same. Like this is the start of a very small seed undoing her preconceptions.

The scene definitely wasn’t them becoming besties, they’re still very far from that if they reach it at all. But I think Mae was beginning to see the POTENTIAL for a positive relationship. Something she didn’t expect traveling with an ape.

Which makes the finale where Mae holds the gun behind her back even more heartbreaking. Because she fears she might have to put down one of the VERY FEW apes she didn’t have to be afraid of. That she might not have had to be enemies with. Raka and Noa are the first apes she’s ever met that treated her with kindness, mercy, and compassion. Raka died saving her life, and now she might have to take Noa’s. It’s excruciating how alone Mae is.

But then Noa reminds her that maybe friendship between apes and humans is still possible. And Mae says she doesn’t know, but then she accepts Raka’s necklace and cries and leaves in peace, and it’s clear which path she subconsciously prefers (co-existence), it’s just going to take her some time to reach the conclusion herself.

While the deleted scene had to be scrapped because the subplots it covers got scrapped, I wish at least another version or rewrite of it had been made so it could’ve kind’ve stayed. That moment of them letting their walls down by the fire was really touching!

beyond the psychological stuff im also thinking about the physical. the evil science possibilities. im just like. canonically its hinted that the core did stuff to marcys body just in the few months it had her to make its vessel more suitable. the plug ports that were apparently in her limbs bc otherwise she would be getting stabbed by those things. "this thing needs some calibration" about marcys body??? what did it mean by that??? and like u mention her being wired up to it in the original ask

anyways im up here thinking abt how much it mightve done to her if it had her for that long. if it had the same plug things installed in her limbs as she seemed to in canon shed probably need replacements if they happened when she was young enough and grew significantly since then.

also my mom used to work in the brain-computer interface industry and well. to get really any level of highly detailed or accurate data, let alone on the scale youd need to fully interface with the entire brain, you would absolutely need to have direct access to the brain rather than trying to go through the skull. theres no way this girl doesnt have a port of some kind implanted in her head for the core to directly connect to her brain.

hell maybe it doesnt wanna deal with biological organs and the problems that might arise from them. no big deal itll just have them replaced!

Anyway. Yes i I have thought quite a bit about Marcy's whole deal. What Andrias cares about is her brainnnn that blob of grey matter that's somehow a biological supercomputer. He has no qualms in eventually getting rid of the body and keeping the brain in a jar, immortalized as an invaluable piece of hardware with the help of some shadowfish biotechnology (shhh lemme tell you a secret: he actually does care for her and love her and takes no joy in hurting her. He just doesn't love her enough to save her :3). Anyway, unfortunately, when he found this thing, her brain was surprisingly underseveloped. He had a vague awareness that the unfortunate coincidence of bipedism and viviparity so characteristic of homo sapiens resulted in them giving birth to useless, half-developed fetuses (as opposed to fully mature, egg-born pollywogs), but surely, by age three, a human would be more mature, right? He checked his archives on alien biology and, indeed, no. An average human's brain isn't fully developed until around age 25. Marcy may be smart, but she's still, by all accounts, a homo sapiens pollywog. He consults the Core. The Core wants a host. They want a body, and they want this brain. They will do with just the brain, is Andrias is too useless to secure them the body, but even if they're willing to wait for another body (stronger, bigger, more amphibian) to come around eventually, they know it won't work as well as with the original brain-body combination.

He decides to raise Marcy to be 25. He keeps her mind sharp and body healthy, or as healthy as possible. She undergoes many week-long sessions unconscious and connected to all sorts of wires as tubes. It's so normal for her, that by age 6 she knew how to get on top of the plataform or into the tank without falling, and how to put on her own oxygen mask. She always woke up feeling weak and hungry when it was over, and with one killer headache, but her dad always held the biggest fests for her with all her favorite food when it was over! She always looked forward to her sessions. Like a dog.

In these sessions, she would undergo several procedures. There's mossman, shadowfish and amphibian biotechnology involved. The point is to 1) make her brain Core-friendly - if it has many dimensions that would make things easier! And 2) translate the data from the Core into something that can be run in a biological machine. For which they need to understand and explore said machine. She only has one port, in the back of her neck, hidden by her long hair. It connects straight into her spine and her brain. In essence, these are fitting sessions. The Core is trying out their new house. Ever since she was little, they actually did use her brain to run tests and perform different functions. Most of the times it was mostly to study it, but as she grew older, they began using her whenever a function required too much energy, whenever something that would take forever to load with its own equipment, would render almost instantly with hers. They never left any data behind, erasing all evidence of their presence, and they never fully transported anything to this new extension, using only copies of data with the original files safe in the Core. The point is to leave the Core behind eventually and fully move on to this new computer, but not yet.

A few funny side effects!

Her blood is slowly growing more and more green as the years pass. This actually has less do to with brain stuff, and more as early preparation for eternal youth and immortality. It's mean to make her last longer. When she first meets Anne at age 10 - 11, her blood is a brown-ish color, but by the time things blow up when she's like 13-14, it's just a gross green. Her kidneys filter it out with time and her blood returns to its original red color, and Anne and Sasha see her real skin color for the first time, since before she always had this weird green tint, but they didn't know enough about humans to tell it wasn't normal. Seeing her blush red instead of green for the first time is kinda magical.

Migraines! Especially after a session. Especially when she does something the Core wouldn't like, because despite how hard they try to erase their traces, Marcy's most primal survival instincts remember.

More indirect effect but going several weeks a year without eating can't be good for her. It makes her feel very tired, dizzy and weak, even if she's eating normally, because three days ago she was starving.

The port in the back of her neck itches a lot. After becoming queen, she asked the royal physician that put it her to remove it, but he was scared of leaving her paralyzed, since it was so deeply fused with her nervous system. Sasha still thinks she should've had the guy publicly excecuted or something.

Idk if it counts but ?? Andrias wouldn't touch her if she was sick, so Olivia often found ways to give her a fever in secret or something to spare her. She did it to protect her, but it does mean Marcy spent a big deal of her childhood in bed, recovering from a session or a light illness.

The Core communicates with her nervous system through electric signals, and even thought they don't want to harm it, they still make her muscles contract a lot so she feels super sobre afterwards lots of muscle pain all the time.

There is no helmet in this one. No indirect connection. When Andrias puts the Core in Marcy, he goes all the way. Straight into her brain! They got a new PC :3

i watched batman returns over christmas because it's a christmas movie that i haven't seen in a while, and i think, despite bruce not having a whole lot of screen time, he might be my favorite version. genuinely wanted oswald to find his parents, fell in love at first sight with selina and spent the entire time looking at her like she put the stars in the sky herself, and when he realized that she was catwoman he spent the rest of the movie trying to save her from herself. he was also trying to stop schrek, not as batman, but as bruce wayne, using his connections and money to stop a power plant that would've hurt gotham, and at the end of the movie he picks up a black cat in the snow where he thinks he saw selina. there's also this one bit when alfred gives him what he thinks is soup and has the most human reaction to finding it cold that a man can have while trying to stop crime in a cave he made specifically for it and it warms my heart every time

Having a good art class for the first time in my life is such an insane feeling, all the other classes were just my teachers being incredibly mean, not actually teaching anything and making us do nonsensical assignments and now I have a teacher that actually takes note of the kind of art I’m into and gives me assignments based on things I enjoy and can improve? I made an oil painting of my current blorbo because this way I’d be drawing something I like and still trying a new medium and learning things? My first homework was making concept designs for my OC? My next assignment will be making a scrapbook-esque research about Julia Lepetit from drawfee? Is this even real

hello i am thinking about the scene with the twins after their parents' funeral again because it makes me so damn sad, and because that moment really just set them up to develop into the horribly maladjusted adults they are today

like we definitely see how that affected ai throughout her childhood and well into adulthood--it's the first time she ever experiences her grandma favoring oom over her, and that's reinforced by the very real differences in how grandma raised her vs how she raised oom. it's no wonder she ends up developing an inferiority complex about her sister and a strong negative self-concept

but for oom, i think she saw that moment as ai letting go of her hand, rather than her (oom) pulling away/grandma pulling her away. it makes me think of ai's voiceover we hear in episode 2 ("i always made it my goal to take the best care of my little sister, until the day we let go of our hands") and how it fits into oom's perspective too. not only is her older sister, who she loved and looked up to so much, now letting go of her, she's also pulling away right after she hears other people insinuate that oom was the reason their parents died. it's why she's still bringing that up as an adult (episode 11) and why she needs ai to choose her so desperately--her guilt over their parents' death and her feeling like a burden because of her illness is completely wrapped up in her belief that ai doesn't love her anymore/hasn't loved her for awhile. for ai to choose her would be like absolution

and the most tragic thing of all is that oom did reach back out for her when they were kids--ai just wasn't looking. and doesn't that just sum up their entire relationship
