so this summer i am nannying a 5 year old who loves miraculous ladybug (my dream) & every day she asks if we can play ladybug and chat noir at the park. these are some comics based on our various games<3

honestly i think it's VERY funny that heather's immediate reaction to being sexually attracted to a man is the visceral urge to brutally murder him

we were sitting on the floor and i was cutting out tiny pictures to make a collage for a friend's birthday. you were on your phone and you laughed about something, and i was still in love with you then, so i asked what had you giggling.

"sorry. i was just..." you took a moment and went back to texting. "i was telling someone about how you're afraid of the dark."

i'm afraid of the dark because something bad happened. "oh." i felt a little slinky of shame crawl down my throat.

you glanced up, and maybe it showed on my face, because you rolled your eyes and held the phone to the side casually so i could see the group chat. "what? was it a secret?"

i looked down to the scissors in my hand. "i just..." no, it's not a secret. it just felt like something private, something serious. saying why would you tell someone that just feels like an accusation. it's unfair. i honestly am not even ashamed of it, it's just a fact about my person that i don't usually share.

what a strange experience. is this a human thing or a generational thing? for our grandparents: did they need to worry about how quickly someone can just... share your personal information? again, i didn't even really have a true objection. what could i say? i want any person in my life to feel they can be honest with their friends. it's not like i said don't tell anyone this.

i cut out another letter to complete the rainbow happy birthday, started hunting for the exclamation mark. i heard you sigh dramatically.

"don't make a big deal about this," you said.

this entire conversation was a pattern for us, and this was when we got to my least favorite part of the pattern. i would get my feelings hurt in some oblique not-technically-terrible way, and then it would be making a big deal about something. you'd get frustrated for me for being soft, but i was born soft. you knew i was soft when you pierced me. it's one of the things that made controlling me so easy.

"i'm not," i felt my voice crack. the question came without my wanting. "why are you guys talking about me?" and why are you saying that thing? why not like - i'm telling them how you're generous and kind and pretty.

you let out this low, tragic groan. "oh my god." you tossed the phone away from your body. "there, see? i just won't talk to them if you don't like it."

the rest of the hour went the way it always went, between us: i said i don't actually mind if you talk to your friends but -, you found a way to call my minor expression of discomfort "being dramatic." you got upset that i had been offended. i ended up apologizing, even though i hadn't actually done anything.

afterwards, you picked up the phone again. after texting for a little bit, you snorted. "okay," you said, "but it is kind of funny you're afraid of the dark. i mean, when you think about it."

"Great!" Danny says, clapping his hands together to get everyone's attention. The dinner table falls silent as everyone looks towards him. It's a full house today and, honestly, Danny's a little nervous. "I'm sure you're all wondering why I gathered you here today."

"It's dinnertime. In our house." Duke mutters, while doing a very bad job of concealing his yawn. He holds his fork poised over the braised beef, but, just like everyone else, still looks towards Danny before tucking in. It's intriguing enough to wait.

"Yeah, no one misses Alfie's dinner." Dick says, with a brilliant smile that Danny can't help but return.

"Precisely! What better time to talk to you all than when you're all actually here!"

"Wait, I thought you came round to work on our English essays?" Tim asks, blinking owlishly.

"I'm afraid I've lured you here under false pretences, Tim."

"This is where I live."

"I would still really appreciate help on that essay though, I mean, what the hell is Hamlet even about? I just don't get that old time-y language, like 'Hark! A ghost hath killed me!' - absolute rubbish, what does that even mean?"

"The ghost never kills anyone in Hamlet, he's there to tell Hamlet that he was murdered. Have you actually read it?"

"No, but it sounds like you have. Tim, I want this guy to help me with my essay instead. I know for a fact that you haven't read Hamlet, either."

"So? We don't need Jason, I've read the Sparknotes."

"Hi Jason, I'm Danny, pleasure to meet you, summarise Hamlet in three sentences or less."

"Am I auditioning to help you write your essays? I can't believe you’ve gone through your whole school life without reading it, it’s good!"

"Hamlet, along with a number of other classics, was banned in our house because it portrayed ghosts as intelligent and sympathetic beings rather than evil, animalistic beasts. I didn’t even get to see The Muppet's Christmas Carol until last year with Tim! It was surprisingly good, and I hate Christmas because everyone always argued and it sucked. But we're getting off topic. I—"

"No, no, please go back to that, because what the fu—"

"Boys, please." Bruce interrupts, looking to the world as if he wants to hang his head in his hands. "Danny, you were about to say something?"

"Oh, yeah, Mr. Wayne! Thanks!"

"Please, call me Bruce."

"Well, that very succinctly brings me to my point, because I'd actually really like to call you dad."

Nobody says a word. Nobody even blinks, all as shocked as the other, watching open-mouthed as Danny pulls his laptop out from beside his chair. Bruce can definitely feel a headache coming on.

"Before you say anything, I've prepared a 69 slide PowerPoint presentation on why you, Bruce Wayne, should adopt me, Danny Last-Name-Pending. Please save your questions, comments, and verdict until the end, thank you."

you mentioned the arrows stealing tim from the bats and i just had the hilarious idea of that + jaytim

poor oliver would lose his mind bc he goes and saves tim from the bats and then tim brings one of them home

i'm CRYING this is so funny. it's even funnier given what Jason did to Mia. like of all the morally questionable mob bosses Tim could've dragged home, he had to pick *that one*? Oliver is trying to be supportive of Tim and give Tim more agency than Bruce gave him, bc Oliver worked *hard* to steal this one and he's not going to lose all of the progress he made. and it does seem like Tim's doing *somewhat* of a decent job of making Jason less murdery. and Jason agrees to the rule he'll keep out of the Star City scene, but Gotham's still his fair game. and honestly, that makes Oliver like him just a *little bit* because if he's going to make Bruce's life more difficult, maybe Jason is alright.

it also does *not* help that when Oliver goes to Roy for support bc Roy agrees that Jason is untrustworthy as hell. but Roy is *also* the guy who had a daughter with Chesire, so the best he can do is give Oliver a shrug.

also think it's fun if Tim is sort of tense, expecting Oliver to put his foot down and tell Tim no. like he's not used to a vigilante parental figure who's actually good at the parent part, so it's weird having this level of freedom, esp when he knows Oliver does disapprove. but Oliver lets Tim figure out hs own love life and make his own mistakes, even if he's ranting to Dinah about Jason until two in the morning. it doesn't help that Jason makes no move to try to get along with Oliver. he's just a shit to be a shit. at this point Tim is pretty sure Jason enjoys driving Oliver up a wall more than he enjoys dating Tim. who's to say if it's true.

new funky dream last night

main character was a ghost who fought in WWI. didn't die in it though - lived and ended up writing a book about the war that was lauded as groundbreaking and intense and somehow achingly sweet (i think he wrote it to immortalize someone he loved who did not make it through). when he was alive everybody hounded him for a sequel or for him to write more books and he just... never did. he wrote the one book he needed to.

his ghost looked pretty young, but he died older than he looked

and he found himself at this apartment complex where he was told to find this girl and have tea with her, and she could help him rest

and here's the thing. she was a perfectly normal looking girl. you had tea with her and she quizzed you up and down your family tree to find someone who was still alive and then she would have tea with that person as well, and somehow that would make you move on

(our main character didn't have any living relatives that he knew of)

but even though she looked normal, it didn't feel normal

I just remember her looking and it didn't feel like it was something human looking at me. it felt like there were suddenly a million eyes on me. that something massive and terrifying and beyond my comprehension was just out of sight behind me, with hungry eyes. the whole goosebumps on your arms and a shiver down your spine experience.

i just remember having tea with her and thinking the whole time that this whole tea thing was 'the gentle way'. and i didn't want to find out what the ungentle way was.
