yeah i'm gonna need a full breakdown of the deleted rhaenyra and jace scene

LET'S GO THEN

there are SO many things i want to say about it. it's literally been my white whale since it was announced as a cut scene. i was hopping one of the scenes op talked about with jace was that i'm sooo happy it was. my main reasons were that 1) it's a jace/rhaenyra scene and those are always juicy and 2) jacegon reasons. i'll be using text from the original post here btw.

"Daemon fights like an unrelenting tempest with little regard for his well-being [...] Daemon hungers for war, and he'll have it one way or another"

I love that the scene begins with daemon fighting other knights and in a sort of frenzy. he's obviously expressing his grief over viserys and visenya both, and how angry he is about the situation. i think it's such a great contrast with how rhaenyra and jace are presented in comparison. jace finds rhaenyra in "deep contemplation" as she watches over daemon. it's such a great element in their dynamic because as much as rhaenyra doesn't want war, she's as angry and as grief-stricken as daemon, but cannot express herself in the same way for fear of losing her image in front of the other lords. daemon has always been her outspoken twin, he's her sword and shield and like a dragon he's expressing what she cannot. it really is so good how they represent one half of a whole. delicious.

then jace comes to her and says

"Daemon wants to fight for us."

SO interesting that earlier in the episode we have jace and daemon in explicit opposition. daemon wants to act, jace is heeding rhaenyra's orders of not doing anything except by her command. daemon obviously doesn't respect him because he's a man who respects actions and jace is still a boy without experience neither political or in a war. i'm in the camp that while jace also doesn't respect daemon nor wants or likes him as a stepfather/father figure, he accepts him as part of the family and implicitly feels safe in his presence. he is his siblings' father, the man who raised (loosely! daemon is still daemon <3) joffrey when harwin and laenor died. he's known him for six years and seen him every day.

this scene is also after daemon threatens the KG in front of jace with caraxes so i think a minimum of respect for daemon's war knowledge made jace trust the he would do anything for rhaenyra and her children. /he wants to fight for us/.

"I wonder. Will you?"

"will you?" SO delicious because while jace will heed her commands to stop daemon from plotting, he does NOT agree with her approach! very very interesting. makes sense when he says "send us" when all rhaenyra wants is to keep her children safe. obviously direct parallel to ep 2:

"I will always fight for my family... but this is not as simple as one of the other"

rhaenyra is understandably reticent to enter war full on. her first experience with it has her losing a baby. and added to this is that just /the day before/ she's spent and more or less amenable afternoon with both family. it's not easy when it's not what viserys would want and what could possibly be his last wish.

it's also about alicent of course. it's not easy to give the order to kill or imprison the woman you considered your best friend and who probably is one of the few people with whom rhaenyra had a deep relationship in her life.

"It could not be simpler. If you accept Aegon's terms, you will forfeit my life. And Luke's and Joff's."

another crash between them! as much as they are a lot alike, they butts head more often than not, esp when jace doesn't agree how rhaenyra is handling an issue like harwin's funeral and now the war. but in all this, he still supports and respects her because he very pointedly questions her in private, both in driftmark and in here. when he was younger, he could've confronted her in public out in the yard, but to me jace learned very early or assumed to himself that he could be (and is!) her mother's most steadfast ally as her heir and young prince and that meant playing the politics game, and in this case to question her in private rather than in public where he could undermine her.

it also comes from the very public humiliation the kids, and jace as the eldest and most cognizant of the situation, have faced by their peers. he knows the power of rumors and whispering, what it does first hand and would not and does not want rhaenyra to face them too, or at least not from something he could've avoided. in this scene he is acting like one of her loyal lords, advising her to take one way or the other. acting like the prince he is.

it is also very interesting that he mention's "aegon's terms" when it's very obvious the terms came from alicent, maybe he doesn't know the full extend of the conversation on the bridge. in any case, it's clear aegon's on his mind. in early 2023 all we knew of the scene was that jace said "we shouldn't trust the usurper". jace wants to know what is to be done about him because he knows how aegon is, how long aegon holds grudges and his negative attitude (indifferent more like) to renew their old bonds (ouch!). esp after last night's dinner where aegon couldn't wait to bother him and join aemond in the antagonism to jace's immense dislike.

he thinks that if aegon had the chance he would kill them because they represent a risk to him claim. i personally don't think aegon would, but it's a real risk that jace is aware and that rhaenyra doesn't seen to grasp.

"Rhaenyra looks at him quizzically." "If you do not claim the throne, we will be taken hostage, or sent to the wall, or put to the sword. I do not know which fate will await us, but I do know they will call us "bastards" first."

the first line kills me because out of context it makes rhaenyra look naive but i think it does make sense for the rhaenyra we see in the bridge. what i said earlier, she's still reeling from the alicent from the diner /the night before/. the alicent that proclaimed her a good queen and begged her to stay with her. it's difficult! but i think it shows very well how complicated her feelings are in this.

this is also the point were jace and rhaenyra start having two different conversations: rhaenyra is still absent, "deep in contemplation", while jace is pushing and pushing. he wants answers, he wants to act! he doesn't care about alicent the queen who always sneered at him and called for luke's eye, he wants to ask about the boy from his childhood (girl, the parallels) who betrayed him so many times. and he's right! i think he's trying to soften the blow, this is the second time he's said he and his velaryon brothers will forfeit their life if they lose, if rhaenyra fails to act. this talk is also driven by self preservation and it's why he's siding with daemon this time. it kills me that rhaenyra has comforted luke all ep 10 but because jace is presenting himself as an equal in this conversation, not as her son, he doesn't get any kind of comfort. he's clearly thinking of death. and he's sixteen. and his mother doesn't know how to comfort him.

in this case, it's jace wanting rhaenyra to see him beyond of what he presents. beyond the perfect prince who's pushed through earth-shattering revelations about his identity. he wants her to see him and answer for once.

"but I do know they will call us "bastards" first". this jace knows with certainty. they might kill him or they might sent him to the wall, but they will call him a bastard as they do it. this is one of jace's touchiest points and weaknesses. every time he's called that he's flipped, due to under processed anger issues (hii harwin) and the repression he's going through to Just Not Think About It. i think it took a lot from jace to say this to rhaenyra's face. the first time it's when he confronts rhaenyra after harwin leaves and you see it's something he has thought about for some time

and later when they are in driftmark where the passions are high

note that he doesn't yell the word. he whispers it to her. he knows the power of it and how angry rhaenyra would become, it's a key word there. and one here too. in the cut scene he's trying to get... let's say a rise out of rhaenyra. to make her understand what will mean for them to get captured. to me it's so visceral because i don't think jace had ever consciously said or thought himself in such after driftmark and after aegon's betrayal. and i don't think that is how he framed it for luke when he told him about their parentage either. even in the audition for child luke, jace's lines frame the issue differently: "I think he thinks we don't belong here [...] we don't look like Targaryens. You must have noticed".

"Alicent gave her word that you would be treated kindly."

they are NOT having the same conversation!

"The word of an usurper means little and less."

either aegon or alicent, jace doesn't trust their word. the king and queen are one power in paper, but i bet jace is thinking about this too

his words means little and less to jace, he who was a victim and at the same time someone who enabled most of aegon's bullying behaviors. he knows him best. but jace also knows that aegon wouldn't bother with lies either. he was trying to unite the family during dinner, but time has shown him he shouldn't have bothered to carve himself to be someone aegon liked anymore. from the same audition video jace says: "so let us be good sons and please those who love us so they may forget what we lack". aegon will never forget! and even if jace or aegon want to break from this, they must play their part because they are too far along.

"In the yard below, Daemon can be heard SHOUTING for a fallen knight to get up and to come at him again. He prowls the fighting ground like a tiger protecting his den. He calls them out, taunting them -- a cruel avenger."

once again daemon as the externalization of their anger! "like a tiger protecting his den"!

"Jace and Rhaenyra reach stalemate; the conversation ends in silence."

my favorite part! this conversation could've never reached anywhere with these too. the issue is too thorny and they are too alike to want to see the other completely. jace is too angry and rhaenyra is too detached.

all in all, i wish they had kept the scene. it furthers rhaenyra and jace's relationship and gives a little bit more of characterization to jace and his relationship with aegon. loved seeing jace oppose rhaenyra and at the same time support her and take the lead when it's needed.

Meet KIID! A shipwrecked child found by dragon-trappers. She's 14 now, but when she was taken in by some Dragon Trappers five years ago, no one knew her name, not even herself. So, they just started calling her Kid. She made the name her own, though, and added an extra 'i' to make things interesting. Pronounced Keed.

She's very fun to draw, ngl!! Might bring her up again.

Meet Kiid, the human personification of Everything All at Once!

-The particular group of dragon trappers that found her wasn't a hard-core one. Most of the people in the group were there working mostly as a necessity. Meaning, that while she didn't grow up in the most peaceful environments, it wasn't all bad. There was some sort of support.

-Helped around back when she lived with the Trappy Guys. Multitasking is just tasking.

-Moves a lot. Talks a lot. Adhd vibes. Hiccup and her bounce ideas off one another like a bullet train. Jack thinks its very fun to watch.

-HER SPEAR! She made it. She started off with plain pine sticks, using it to jump around from place to place and smack the occasional weirdo and/or fish. Eventually, she developed a technique for jumping longer distances, and crafted her spear to aid her. It serves as a weapon and for traveling causes. She loves feeling the air and the rush of her speedy travels. Jack and Hiccup saw her jumping once, sixteen feet down as she cackled, and thought, Yeah, She is One Of Us alright. Jack asked her for pointers with his own staff.

-She's been taught a couple of things here and there with the help of The Trapper Guys, but she hasn't got anything 100% mastered. Prob because she didn't have someone to help her master something in particular. She makes do with what she has. Always willing to learn.

-Couple of scratches on her face from a dragon on a rampant from a couple years ago. She thinks it makes her look more menacing and kinda cool.

-Kinda weird at times. A lil' crazy. A lil' wild. A lil' maniac with mostly good intentions. The bad ones come in the form of some pranks here and there which Jack and the twins adore. They are quite the duo/trio. Hiccup joins her pranks sometimes. Those times are the most impressive, destructive, yet funnier ones.

-Hiccup gave her a notebook she carries everywhere, all the time. Doesn't let anyone see. Punched Jack once on reflex when he went to check it out.

-Right side of her hair more cut out than the right. She has a couple of braids at her sides.

Just Dancers and their favourite Efteling attraction + fairytale!

Night Swan is here too btw, its just like Canned Heat.

I stand behind my choices and am not afraid to go into heavy detail (and I will for some of them). Everything’s below the cut :)

This is going to confuse so many of you but being very real with you: I don't care. This is me mixing my special intrest with my current hyperfixation and you cannot stop me.

Wanderlust

The attraction I chose for Wanderlust is called Symbolica. It’s a dark ride that takes you on a tour through the Palace of the world of wonders aka Symbolica. I feel like he really enjoys this ride simply because of the whimsy of it. It’s an exploration through all different kinds of rooms (from a garden with a huge whale to a ballroom with all different types of dancers). It just feels right up his alley. He would 100% pick the music tour (and get into an argument with Jack in line why the music tour is better than the treasure tour). They always end up going for Wander’s choice though.

The fairytale I picked for Wanderlust is the Indian Water Lillies. I picked this fairytale for its story! I feel like it’s something he would really enjoy. If you don’t know it here’s a little summary: The stats dance on the water at night, and return to the sky before the first light of day. One day the stars refuse to come back through. The sun rises and a witch curses the stars. Now they’re water lillies during the day and dance as girls during the night.

Sara

The attraction I chose for Sara is called Dreamflight. It’s also a dark ride but it takes you through the world of fae and trolls. I feel like Sara would be a big fan of the fairies and maybe even have a plush of one of them. She always buys the pictures of her and the others whenever they go.

The fairytale I chose for Sara is Rapunzel (Raponsje). Although this version follows the original source of Rapunzel much closer, I think we all know the premise of it. I feel like it would be her favourite fairytale, why? Purely vibes. She does compare Jack to Rapunzel every chance she gets just to mess with him.

Brezziana

The attraction I chose for Brezziana is called Joris and the Dragon. It’s a roller coaster based on the story of Joris and the Dragon. I chose a roller coaster for Brezziana because I feel like she would enjoy roller coaster’s more than dark rides because of the thrill. The story doesn’t really influence why I chose this ride for Brezz. I feel like she would be more interested in the racing aspect of the ride. She would definitely challenge her friends to races if they were in the park on a quiet day. Brezziana is 100% a water side girlie (and good on her because water always wins). I feel like she would also really like the theming for this ride.

The fairytale I chose for Brezziana is Snow white. A true classic really. Don’t think I need to tell you the story of this one either. Brezziana really does strike me as a princess enjoyer, so thats mainly why I went for Snow White. A simple classic that no one can blame her for.

Mihaly

The attraction I chose for Mihaly is called Fata Morgana. It’s a dark ride that takes you on an adventure through the stories of the 1001 Nights (in a boat). I feel like they really like this ride because it’s often seen as a way to relax in the middle of a busy day or at the end of the day. I also think that they like it for all the different scenes you see throughout. Although they used to be really scared of the giant that you encounter near the end of the side as a child.

The fairytale I chose for Mihaly is called Frau Holle. I picked this fairytale because I feel like they would really agree with the message behind it. If you don’t know the fairytale it basically tells the story of a very hard working girl. One day this girl falls down a well while doing chores. In this well she gets transported to another dimension. In this dimension she does chores for Frau Holle. When she goes back to the human world she is rewarded with loads of gold. Her spoiled step sister throws herself down the well in search of gold, but once she comes back she’s covered in soot because she didn’t work hard enough. I feel like Mihaly would really agree with the idea that you get rewarded for the hard work that you do. Also Frau Holle is just iconic and we love her.

Jack Rose

The attraction that I chose for Jack is called the Flying Dutchman. It’s a roller coaster that is based on the legend of the Flying Dutchman. He likes it because of the theming and music. Thats all really, no other reason (looks at Night Swan who doesn’t like this one bc theres a tiny possibility that you can get wet and she doesn’t want to ruin her perfect outfit). No but in all honesty: he’s right. This is the best one.

The fairytale I chose for Jack is called the Red Shoes. It’s a fairytale about a poor orphan girl who gets adopted by this old lady. The old lady gives her a pair of red shoes that she can dance in. Eventually the old lady falls ill, but instead of caring for the lady the girl goes to a ball. As a sort of moment of instant karma the girl gets cursed and now she has to dance in those shoes forever. Seems decently innocent right? Nope. It ends with a lumberjack cutting off the girls feet. The shoes continue to dace, even without the girl. Feels right up Jack’s alley ngl. I feel like he talks about liking it really innocently too, and when people read the story they’re just kind of horrified. (It was between this one and the little match girl so)

Night Swan

The attraction I chose for Night Swan is called Villa Volta. Its a mad house type of attraction where like the entire room spins (or at least thats the illusion that is created). Basically the house got cursed and only someone with a soul as pure as a new born baby can list the curse. Just feels like her type of thing. Also she heavily vibes with the music.

The fairytale I chose for Night Swan is called the Chinese Nightingale. Although this is a very ironic fairytale for her to like (basically a ruler with a god complex finds out that they’re truly not as great as they thought they were), I feel like she would because it made Jack cry as a kid. Thats all, that amused her enough.

Consider this: the fact RWBY has this subsection of a fandom dedicated to harsh criticism will fascinate people. I mean, so many YouTube video grilling the series, Reddit posts, whole Tumblr tags, etc.

Wouldn't that make you curious as to what sort of show would inspired such rage? At worst, you get total trash that's not even the entertaining kind. At best, you find that it's... good actually and that you cannot get the critics.

13 Reasons Why was a controversial book but it exploded in discourse come Netflix's adaptation. A lot of the criticism seemed "valid" yet I wanted to see the show for myself based on the show and the fact that it was big enough to get a second, third and fourth season.

It is now one of my favorite TV shows in the past decade. Would've flown past my radar if it hadn't inspired such passions from video essays, therapist videos and so on.

The same even happened with the RWDE. I won't name names but a certain critic of FRWBY has spoken how the intense hate towards the series led her to get into and geniunely enjoy it. So... yeah. Nice job fixing it, chief.

BTW, if RWBY or RT should hypothetically just stop... what would you do?

This mindset entirely ignores that people are often criticizing the show because not a single member of the “FNDM” holds Rooster Teeth responsible. As soon as Bumblebee happened the whole fandom stopped talking about the abuse the workers experienced because RT held a shiny keychain in front of them and suddenly human lives meant less than pixels on a screen.

Trying to spin the continued existence of a show that only exists through the abuse of workers onto people criticizing the show is also a really interesting way to shift the blame off the people who ACTUALLY contribute to keeping the show running despite the abuse in the people who buy their merch and who watch the show through means that drives up their engagement. You can say “well people criticizing the show gets more eyes on it”, but that’s not enough to sustain a show for 9 years, and it’s more likely the people who whaled for Amity Arena, or bought Arrowfall, or buys their shoddily made figures are the ones who actually show enough interest in the show continuing to justify them continuing to abuse their workers to keep it happening. Foisting the blame onto critics when the fanbase slobbered over RT for having two women kissed and ignored that they hurt real people in real ways constantly for years is ridiculous.

Lilith is an example of exactly that, someone who doesn’t care about the people who get hurt by their actions as long as they are right, and their needs are satiated. For all her bluster about how much RWDE hates women and only likes white men, she sure is defending a show built on the abuse of minorities by straight, white men and women.

What would I do if RT and RWBY stopped? I’d continue living my life, I don’t post about RWBY that often and what I do post often takes about 5 minutes to put into words. The idea that to be “RWDE” you have to be obsessed with RWBY is laughable.

they fucking forgot her body blush in the trailer??? this is the same frame as the snowflakes match up btw. hair has a few more details in the trailer, as well as her eyelashes being flatter. different hair shine. her right hair bow was fixed to be pointier

Okay. alright, I needed a separate post to go in detail, because now I'm pumped! BTW I only quickly looked up the bijuus’ references to have some guidance, so they might not be all exact, I also went a bit by their appearaces alone.

Unfortunately I can’t fit the number of tails, but this is a great excuse for me to ramble about these lovely myths to anyone interested.

Ichibi Shukaku, the shapeshifting tanuki - I might be probably forgeting some, but I decided to go with an animal I like. It kinda matches how bloodthirsty Shukaku was in the begining, but it’s a bird instead. Matinta Pereira is a little owl (sometimes mistaken or also described as a potoo) that brings the news of death. Sometimes it takes the shape of a witch, other times is an old man seeking petty regenge. Another nice detail: since both tanukis and kitsunes are somewhat tricksters, the Matinta is actually sometimes related to the creature I chose for Kyuubi too.

Nibi Matatabi, the cat ghost - The obvious here would be to go with the Alma-de-gato (Cat soul) which is literally a shadow or spectral cat that appears to haunt children who misbehave, silently staring into their souls with (literal) burning eyes. Totally fits and I’d be happy with it. BUT if we take what looks the most like the beast in the series and just overall vibe, I’d have to go with Boitatá. Nothing to do with cats, just a giant fire snake with its body covered in eyes. This myth is actually closely related to the will-o'-wisp so many times the fire is made blue

Anon says “Boitatá would make a fucking awesome bijuu let’s be honest” and that is true! Boitatá IS one of my favorite myths for a reason! Not only it looks badass the legend says the snake protects fields and forests from anyone trying to set illegal fires by blinding them, or driving them into madness or just straight up killing them.

Sanbi Isobu, the sea demon - Here I picked the Ipupiará who’s basically another sea demon, though more humanoid, kind of resembling a mermaid, but more of a walrus shaped one. There are multiple stories and creatures similar to this one, but I like the older and more murderous version for this. Option TWO is another one of my favorites (another giant snake, of course it’s another snake): Boiúna, the black snake. A huge, river long, pitch black snake with flame red eyes, that just scares anyone living by the rivers by sinking ships or straight up swallowing them. Neither of these has any moral or motivation, they’re just beasts.

Yonbi Son Goku, the monkey king - For this one I went with the idea of an “Imposing monkey-like creature” and got: Mapinguari, this huge, smelly, man devouring monster. These monsters, mostly known in the amazon region, easily stand at over 2 meters tall, sometimes depicted with a single eye in the forehead and with a huge mouth full of razor sharp teeth stretching all the way to the bellybutton. They attract the prey by screaming like desperate humans and deceiving people to go help. To have this one as a source of power is nice, but wouldn’t be nearly as respectable as the original.

Gobi Kokuou, Hanging horse head and ghost whale - Okay so a horse. that’s easy: Mula sem cabeça, literally a Headless horse, with fire coming out of its neck. This one is widely known in the country so it has many MANY variations, but the shape is what matters here, so ‘only head horse’ for ‘no head horse’. Not sure how to fit the whale ghost part :(

Rokubi Saiken, the shellfish ogre - Alamoa! I’ve been told not many people know about this one?? But searching for this shellfish ogre, the wiki description fits quite perfectly with the Alamoa. She is a storm (thunder? lightning?) ghost, who appears on stormy nights dancing naked in the beaches of Fernando de Noronha. She is very pale and with near white blonde hair and attracts fishermen with her beauty and treasures, only to trap them and turn into an skeleton before killing them.

Nanabi Choumei, a rhinoceros beetle - This one was surprisingly hard, but let’s go with a simple one: Minhocão (literally big worm). Huge worm like creature living in rivers or underground that also goes around sinking ships. I would also take the ‘lucky seven’ joke and turn it around by using Caapora (out of the numerous names, this is the one I’m most familiar with), who is said to bring bad luck! Hachibi Gyuki, the cow demon - Immediate choice: Boi Bumbá (with many name variations). It’s an annual performance/celebration telling the story of death and ressucitation of an ox. There’s a lot of dance and colorful outfits involved so it makes for a nice visual for a magical beast. BUT I also remembered a more regional one called Boi Vaquim: a winged bull with golden horns and diamonds for eyes that spits fire. How badass is that?

Fun fact: ‘boi’ is the actual portuguese word for bull/ox, but in native tupí language ‘boi’ stands for snake so we have the snakes boitatá and boiúna.

Kyuubi Kurama, the kitsune - Absolutely NOTHING to do with foxes, but I’m going to pick Saci! Simply for the trickster nature. Sacis are probably the most famous supernatural creature in brazilian mythology. They vary in shape (can be human or have goat horns and beard or bird foot), size (from tiny little fairies living in flowers to 2m tall with scales and claws), power (can create small tornadoes, grant wishes, spoil food), nature (they go from harmless and inconvenient pranks to kidnapping children and beating up animals to death), but the base look is of a pitch black humanoid creature - most times a black boy - with a single leg and red pointy hat. Option two for visuals: Maned wolf.

Okay this AU DID rip hard like ngl. I wrote it back when I was deep in an urban fantasy phase so it was just this hodgepodge of stuff I loved. The magic system was part Dragon Age, part Dresden Files. The vamps were part Buffy, part VTMB.

The setup was that Myka was the Slayer, going to college in Univille. Artie was her watcher, Claudia was a young witch (The Willow, if you will) and Pete was the unpowered best friend/Xander.

Artie and MacPherson were like co-watchers for Carol and in the course of that work (I think it was some kind of heroic sacrifice or something) he gets turned into a vampire and Carol can't bring herself to stake him. Artie's white whale.

HG's deal is that she was the Slayer back in the 1800s when Christina gets killed bc HG's role has her in the cross fire. HG then goes off the deep end, finds the powerful vampire responsible, forces him to turn her and then eats him (nakedly, shamelessly, joyfully ripping off the Tremere clan from VTMB). Cue a reign of terror that lasts years before she abruptly goes silent. Instead of being bronzed, she enters torpor and stays like that til MacPherson wakes her up. She is, of course, the Angel of the AU. A little more morally ambiguous though.

It was supposed to proceed from there - HG meets Myka in a bookstore and they have a little meetcute. There's flirting and feelings before it's revealed that HG is the mythic vampire the council is freaking out about.

Ultimately the project died MOSTLY bc I couldn't quite figure out how to translate the s2 plot for total world destruction quite satisfyingly enough to this universe. And I think I lacked a little confidence wrt character voice. But god it was fun to write. Tragic, sexy vampire Helena lives rent free in my head forever as does Slayer Who Should Know Better Myka.

Bruh i had the strangest dream…

Okay so humanity created touristic alternative reality traveling, and I remember this playing like a horror film, in this dream I was a white college aged girl, going on vacation with her family and a couple of other 2 families, It was like a friend trip, and the alternative universe traveling looked like you descending platforms and in each platform it could take you to a different place, and s lot of these were skill based lessons like learn how to blank, such as cooking lessons, and strange alternate reality mini markets (think like omega mart), anyways I stopped at a mini market and got so overwhelmed I walked out of the store through the back door, and saw a funny billboard of a cartoon whale named yaoi and i was like “wait ive seen this on tunblr before lol, i should take a pic of it” (Which btw i posted on dream tumblr), anyways after getting a breather I went back through the door but the the way I stepped into that reality had stopped existing, which led to me (main character) having a panic attack and walking outside of the convenience store now through the main door, once i stepped out I saw people walking through the parking lot with the bracelets that let you know they are not from this reality, all walking in the direction of two sets of doors, a girl walking with her boyfriend sees me panicked and realizes is probably my first time multidimensional jumping and tells me not to worry, that the way back is through the two doors, depending on where you came from, so i take door 1 which looks the most familiar when i step in, and I see people making line to get their identities verfied and i start checking tumblr again, its been like 10 mins probably, and my pic has 25 notes, mostly people comenting on the alternate reality traveling and how you shouldn’t take pics apparently, like “taking pics in _____ ? we are getting risky, I wouldn’t do that!” and then I get a phone call from a girl I can see her strangely bc i get like movie viewer point of view, she is one of the members of the other families that also are on the trip and she’s real worried about protag, and her and protag get into an argument bc protag is super mega freaked out, and apparently has some sort of anxiety disorder, and shes had panic attacks and the other girl who is the protags gf is like “why do you think I didn’t wanna go in the trip?” anyways they continue to argue and you get a lot of exposition from this, but then i woke up like why the fuck is my brain playing a A24 movie

1. Vanya Whale-Bane

A fisherman's daughter with a knack for magic who lost her parents to the Thalmor (Thalos worship and whatnot), joined the Stormcloaks in her grief only to have a change of heart after understanding the extent of the racism in the faction. Betrays the Rebellion to join the Imperials, stumbles into Helgen by accident, cue main plot, cue stumbling across Borgakh in her travels and TRUE LOVE. <3 Ravarruh'ra, "Rava"

The daughter of traveling Khajiit merchants who got to hunting on the side upon realizing the value of game and good furs in Skyrim! The hunting wasn't enough to provide for her anymore after the start of the civil war, so she joined the Thieves' Guild for extra cash on the side - cue the whole Thieves' Guild questline and a trip to Markarth where she has a fling with Cosnach and gets messed up in the Forsworn rebellion (on their side) and runs from the city along with her new hubby. They try to settle down in Falkreath but y'know, Helgen happens. Rest is history.

8. Vanya

She's very attuned to fire in general, so I feel like she'd probably invent something like... draws from the power of fire to bring warmth? Especially with how cold Skyrim is, she'd find that extremely helpful. Faad Med Yol (warmth akin to fire), possibly.

Rava

Oh she gets really into Dovahzul and at some point just wants to flex at Alduin by inventing her own shout, dunno how effective it would be but something of an insult that maybe causes a foul smell. Pook Se Praan (stink of death).

13. Vanya

She's very into investigating Nordic ruins, tho feels a bit bad for disturbing the dead there, what with them being her ancestors and all. But she's interested in the old gods, like Kyne and such, having learned about them from his father.

Rava

Not really, she prefers fresh air. Dungeons stink. 18. Vanya

Pale, near white scales, small in size. The scars on her side remain as a cluster of missing scales and the lighting scars on her neck become a glowy glowy pattern on her dragon form. Her horns are smaller than most dragons. No real special abilities per say.

Rava

More cat-like in shape and movement, wings aren't quite as big and better for gliding than flight, tho she can still fly shorter distances. Her fur patterns remain in her dragon form and her bites and thorns excrete toxins. She is not kind, she is not fully... there. More a feral force of nature than who she really is.

23. Vanya

She has 2 enchanted blades she carries with her at all times, one of them an elven dagger stolen from Ancano (still working to get to that part in the fic haha) with a paralysis enchantment. The other one's a fire enchanted sword given to him by Ulfric as a sign of respect during her time in the Stormcloaks. There's also a special piece of jewelry she'll hold in her person at all times when the time comes, enchanted with a very special soul gem, but... that's a story for another day.

Rava

She's not very magic tuned at all and outside of her nocturnal armor there's not really much she uses in terms of magical items, really. I'd imagine maybe she has some special fabric laced with ice enchantments to wrap whatever meat she wants to bring to city in.

Well first I obviously hc Magnus as being Armenian, but I imagine he doesn't always label himself as "Asian", but he also doesn't consider himself to be white. Both of his parents used to insist that they're white, but Magnus would be like "okay, tell that to the kids at school making fun of my lunch".

(Magnus sweating profusely when he sees "white/Caucasian" as an option on a form, and he has to hold himself back from pointing out that those terms aren't interchangeable)

I also hc Trindle as being half Korean. During her doljabi, she crawled past the items her parents laid out and grabbed a stuffed whale that was left on the floor, and her infatuation with Nathan was set in stone.

Melmord doesn't have the dark eyes + dark hair combo, but I also hc him as being a quarter Korean. Idk, he has quapa energy to me. In my headcanon, Melmord also comes from a very large culturally diverse family with lots of adopted and foster siblings.

I also hc Lavona as being east Asian but I never worked out the specifics, but fuck it, let's keep the Korean combo going. I don't know if I hc her as being Korean and German (like me!) or if she's a Korean person from Germany. But either way, yes.

I assume Amber being ambiguously SE Asian is canon, but I could be mistaken. In my hc, she's Cambodian on her mom's side and Lao on her father's side.

I don't hc the Blues Devil as being Korean, but I have drawn them in a hanbok.

OH btw i did get kamitsubaki city ensemble and it aint half bad!!! specifically i bought the main game at 5 bucks (its going for that specific style of rhythm game pricing where the main game is like pennies but the DLC is a bajillion doll hairs LOL) which I found worth it for what it is, I dunno about the fifty buck season pass tho, I'd wait until I was sure I really REALLY liked the gameplay first

i think this style of rhythm gameplay is called 7k or 7key in a lot of circles (osu thing?) I DONT know how i feel about it. i think im getting used to it and finding it pretty fun, although the spacebar thumb notes are really hard for me LOL

the UI is super mobile game which makes sense because it has a mobile version and the gameplay seeeeems like itd be more fun on mobile at first BUT i do think its odd because like...... the beatmaps are NOT made for thumb players.... even for finger players it seems like some of those edge double notes would be kind of tough... so as a thumb player i went with the pc ver <3

the songs are fun though, like not just the existing songs but also the game's general score is nice and the theme song Cradle RULES. the beatmaps seem fine so far, although I am not practiced enough to go past normal mode yet so we shall see. I do think the game needs some colour options though, the colour that the lanes light up is like a few degrees too similar of a blue to the colour of the hold notes and it fucks me up constantly orz also the 7lane side lane notes are yellow and the middle spacebar note is white which is a good contrast, but part of me wants a bit more colour coding, its hard to keep track of it all. I also don't care for the colour coding vanishing when its a double note, now i have no clue what lane its in graaaaaahhhhhh

BUT its fun so far. be careful about playing it on a low powered or old computer if you have issues with flashing, I had a bunch of weird sprite clipping in and out issues during the cutscenes on my old laptop. it slowed down after an hour so maybe it was an issue booting up? the colours and flashing rhythm sections are probably rough for some as well as another warning

the plot is kind of fun, im enjoying it because im 26 and can no longer deal with gacha games BUT i still like mascot character rhythm games so its nice to have this game just as is for a fiver (ignoring the odd DLC pricing LOL) i like the haunting sort of surreal aspects so far and the characters are cute and fun ALTHOUGH it is odd seeing Kafu with this sort of personality. shes not bad shes just a lot sweeter and peppier than I and I think a lot of people pictured her LOL we all just pictured her as like kind of brooding idk.... the others are how i picture them though, especially coko as pretty outgoing and sekai as kind of quiet and weird <3 I ALSO like the weird freak thang.. whale? i forgot its name. i have the flu you have to be nice to me.

LEMME TELL YOU though. i never realized. until this game. how unhinged iyowa song beatmaps can get. i should have expected because of all those like speeding up slowing down tempo changey parts in some of their songs but MAN. it was like the scariest beatmap I'd ever seen, Leave You on The Back of The Earth. I really did feel like I was in a falling elevator

also, we ALL sometimes lie to ourselves. One of my favorite musical theatre numbers of all time is Happier from Wicked (my voice is more Elphaba than Glinda - I’m not a good Elphaba but I can hit most of her songs’ notes except for the high belting in Defying Gravity BUT when I actively performed musical theatre I always wanted to do Happier and I was a 17 year at the time, the song slaps even harder now). Another song that says it really well is I’m Not Afraid from Songs for A New World. Like we all… lie to ourselves idk from one time to another???? Shot is filmed a bit closer and ever so slightly to the right. Her hat has a third rabbit ear on the back(??why??) and her hair is modeled a bit differently, it feels slightly shorter and less smooth. Outlines on her outfit also look a bit more thick and less refined, visible on her ruffles especially

a lot more blue! ribbon movement might be different because i couldn't match frames of it (or even the flowers)

3: this particular panning shot of the sky in U durning Gales of song

a lot brighter! the skyscrapers are slightly different. The blue one at the center at the bottom has 3 rows of windows in the trailer while th release has 6. One building got pushed back in the release. The windows have a lot less dimension in the trailer, but this might be related to the different lighting

4: the crowd that appears when Belle is about to fly by

you know it seems that U was originally a lot brighter and greener overall. It also looks like in the trailer, there's some kind of white void happening waaay off in the distance i right under the big U in the middle so U might have been modeled a bit differently too

No flowers added to the foreground! which is interesting because i'm pretty sure those are rendered as actual objects in the scene, and not just an effect which would mean they had to re-render the scene just to add in the flowers. don't quote me on that though

this shot from the trailer right here does not align with any frame from the final, it's zoomed out more and is fully lit (final only gets fully in color after she raises her head while the trailer holds that pose)

also no extra work done to her bangs! I noticed that studio chizu often adds extra flair to Belle's hair when needed, like her bangs fluffing up here or adding some extra strands of hair, the trailer shot has none of that! that's how her hair would've looked like if they just left her base model as it is

slight difference in the shadow placement, final only has light around the face while in the trailer they go up to her upper lip

her dress tucks under her chest for some reason while it should instead tuck around her waist
