Jerry doesn't leave when the kid is 2 weeks old, but waits a bit, and tries to ask around how "normal" babies behave, because Billy is still abnormally calm.

Some nuns throw him dark glares, his kid is alive, how can he say something like that?

Rhea spends time with them, giving bby!Billy Sitri's old :) golem plushie, even if Jerry thinks it's trash ("what the crap is that thing??"), bby!Billy seems to appreciate it, always trying to reach it whenever Rhea, or some monks/nins, dangle it in front of them.

One day, Jerry finally manages to convince another doctor to examine his kid but forgot that Rhea was playing with the baby. Jerry becomes a bit tense, after all, Rhea already grilled him on him asking around if Billy is "normal" even after she told him they were alright. Just before Rhea could ask what was going on, bby!Billy suddenly started to chew on her hair, distracting her enough ("good, my ears aren't still showing!") to forget about Jerry and the doctor.

Garreg Mach doctor was so amazed that this random nobody baby was chewing on the Archbishop's hair that he stopped thinking for a bit, before recomposing himself, assuring Jerry that his kid was alright, after all, it's normal for babies of that age to try to discover the world by putting stuff in their mouths.

Happy that finally, someone else than Rhea found his baby "normal" and "alright", Jerry sighed in relief. However, only Aelfie (who wanted to spend time with Sitri's child) kind of freaked out because no, even if Billy is Billy, they should unhand the Archbishop and not munch on her hair!

Both men tried to pry Billy out of Rhea's hair, while she was just saying them to let them be, the baby is just having a bit of fun !

Jerry then realised - while Aelfie was trying to make Rhea reconsider because she has an important appointment with Count Varley and definitely can't show up with a baby drooling all over her - that sure, Billy doesn't laugh nor cries, but at times, they want to play with their odd :) plushie, and at other times, prefer to play with the stuffed bear, what if Rhea wasn't just saying nonsense, and, despite not laughing, Billy was having fun?

Maybe there's no need to leave the monastery?

Please help me keep my diabetic dog healthy!

Hey, everyone!

I´m sorry to show off on your dash with another donation petition. I know there are more urgent and relevant petitions lately with the west Europe situation. Sadly, particular crises still affect the rest of us. So here is our story:

This is Simona. My lovely dog. I know what you are thinking right now: "Is a samoyed if you had the money to buy her you have the money to keep her treatment". And yes, she is a precious Samoyed. But she was not purchased, in fact, I don´t know how was she as a baby even when I´m 100% sure she was adorable and problematic.

We adopted her when she was a year and a half doggy, now she is 8 years old. Her previous home was looking for a bigger place for her because they used to live in a very small apartment and she was a big and energetic dog (we live in a rural area). They knew they couldn't satisfy all her necessities for her to grow as a happy dog and I´m grateful to them for trusting us to take care of her since.

Besides her, we have a 2yo cat. His name is Toulouse.

He is ok (besides the fact that he is an adorable eye-crossed kitty). I just wanted to show how these 2 get along pretty well.

We almost lost Simona last October when after some bad medication from a vet she started having some problems. We followed the instructions, but she was not getting better, she was really sleepy, skinny (she lost a third of her weight, from 31kg about four months before, to 20kg), was drinking a lot of water, and had no desire to eat.

We decided to take her with another vet and after some checks and ordering some tests the possible diagnosis was diabetes. We almost lost her that day but we managed to follow the new vet's instructions and when the results were ready, we finally knew what to do.

So she is diabetic, the bad medicine damaged her pancreas forever. The only positive side here is that she does not have Cushing syndrome, which would make things worse.

I learned something during this 5 months: dog diabetes is expensive.

Now is the time to mention, all of this takes place in Colombia. We are Colombians living in Colombia. Here we do not have any kind of public pet insurance and the private ones do not cover anything like this.

She is quite better now. Of course, she will be diabetic her whole life. We have to pinch her twice a day to measure her glucose levels and that way calculate the insulin we have to inject her. To be honest, I don´t know how people deal with dog diabetes in other countries but this is how we do it here:

-Specialized food for diabetic adult big dogs.

-Insuline (and glucose measurement) twice a day before food.

-Lots of exercises.

-Two medicines, one 10 drops in every meal and another one in injections twice a week.

Why am I asking for economic help here?

As I wrote before, we have to take care of all the expenses. In a regular month (without going to the vet or taking any test to follow up her condition):

1. Monthly food [Equillibrium or Hills for diabetics]: $330.000 / $453.000. (These are the brands available here, she likes Hills more, but is significantly more expensive so we are buying her Equilibrium. I will approximate an average between those two). $392.000 (US$105)

Organic monthly food. With the vet´s authorization, we give her chicken every morning, so she also eats organic food and has more energy for the day. We usually don´t buy this at once but in total is about $50.000 per month (US$14)

2. Insuline (usually lasts about 20 days, so I will calculate a whole vial and half: $78.000 + $39.000 = $117.00 (US$47).

3. Glucometer strips (We buy the 50 strips one, and we use at least 2 per day if there are no errors. So that´s 25 days. To have some margin of error let´s say 23 days. For the 7 days left let´s take 14 strips from another box). $94.000 + $26.400= $120.400 (US$32).

4. Medicines (since the dose is different depending on vet´s orders, I´ll assume is one per month even when have been more, but is decreasing now): Drops $84.000 + Vial for injection $115.000= $199.000 (US$53).

Total: $879.000 AKA US$245

You might say "Just $245?, I make this money in a couple days of regular work", but now is when I want to remind you: I am Colombian, we earn money in Colombian pesos.

Our situation is this: I have a part-time job where they call me only when they need me. I´m searching for a full-time job in what I studied, but is not easy here. On average I make $400.000 monthly, which is a little bit less than half minimum wage (just work for hours). My sister (20yo) had to stop her veterinary studies to work full time and assume most of the expenses. She had a lot of saving for her future, so did I from my previous job, but now we are reaching the bottom of our savings. She makes double minimum wage, which is not bad here for a 20yo.

So, how much is the minimun wage in Colombia? Is US$250.

This means we are spending almost a whole minimum wage just in keeping our diabetic dog in good condition. No extra fancy stuff, the most expensive specialized food, or anything like that. She deserves it but the situation draining us (not to mention the whole painful ritual before her foods).

And this is only the dog. We are not talking about the cat or our own necessities. We are lucky we are not in charge of any kid, but we are the ones responsible for her and sadly our economy barely allows us to save money for future emergencies or anything more than her regular monthly expenses.

(As a side note, the value between dollars and Colombian pesos is not stable, which means the conversion to dollars I did today might be slightly different from what you might find. The Colombian peso is getting more and more devaluated by the time, and that´s part of the reason stuff like this imported food is really expensive for us, I used to buy her $25 good food for 2 months on local brands).

Freddie Lounds Headcanons Because She Is A Boss Bitch Who Deserves A Backstory!!! (NBC's Hannibal).

Was born and raised from ages 1-13 in Southern Connecticut (Westbrook) before moving to Lafayette, Louisiana where she lived before moving to Orono, Maine for College (The University Of Maine) and stayed there to go on with her Journaling Career.

She was born November 5th, 1976. (I'm assuming the show takes place in the early 2010s as the show doesn't seem to be necessarily in the same year as the books are per se). Her full name is Fredrica "Freddie" Lisa Lounds.

Freddie is vegetarian because in her younger years she couldn't stomach the sight of butchered animals of when her father went hunting and decided to not eat meat.

Freddie's father is named George James Lounds and he's a country man through and through and has worked as both a fisherman (in Lafayette) and a ranch hand (Westbrook). Comes from a Christian background. Only moved to a more urban area for his wife. They married September 12, 1969. Born January 23, 1956 in Westbrook, Connecticut.

Appearance: Pale Blue Eyes/Red, Curly Hair/ Pale and Freckled/ 6'3"/ Burly.

Freddie's mom is named Laura Lisa Lewis. While she's never worked a job she is know to volunteer and be active in her community. Very much a charismatic busy-body. Comes from a Christian background. Always dreamed of living in a nice cottage in the country side of France and seriously plans to in her retirement plan. Born July 17, 1957 in New Haven, Connecticut.

Appearance: Dark Brown Eyes/ Strawberry Blonde Wavy Hair/ Tanned/ 5'2"/ Slender.

Freddie's older sister is named Christine "Chrissy" Renee Lounds. Is a stay-at-home mom and mother of Danny James Turner. She married Grant Roger Turner in April 4, 2002. Lives on a small farm in Wolftrap, Virginia. Agnostic beliefs. Regal and able to hold a mean grudge. She has rather rocky relationship with Freddie. Born December 4, 1970 in Westbrook, Connecticut.

Appearance: Wavy, Partly Sunbleached, Red Hair/ Pale Blue Eyes/Tanned/5'5/Lithe and Slightly Toned.

Freddie doesn't know her grandparents on her Father's side because they're alcoholics. She knows virtually nothing about them, not even their names.

Freddie is/was close to her grandparents, Kenneth Hiram Lewis and Lois Renee Miller, on her mother's side. Kenneth was born March 30, 1930 and died in 1991. Lois was born June 25, 1928 and is still presently alive.

Freddie is Bisexual and while her parents are accepting it is difficult to them to understand everything that comes with it so it isn't a topic that comes up often at Family Events.

Freddie is a decent enough cook but the only thing she can bake is bread. Other baking things tend to burn.

Her father and her tend to be slightly emotionally distant.

Freddie bonds with her father by fishing though she never actually eats the fish or help gut and clean them but she likes the comfortable silence. It makes her feel close to him.

Freddie bonds with her mother by helping pick out knick knacks to cram into the kitchen and living room. Her mother insists she takes one to take home with Freddie everytime she visits. Freddie always caves in and does.

Freddie and Christine rarely bond and mostly fight and bicker but when they do it's mostly over watching/playing with Danny. Occasionally one of them reaches out to mend their relationship but it never ends up working out. They can go months without talking to each other but both sisters know that when it really counts they're there for one another.

Danny James Turner is a hyper and energetic boy who wants to be firefighter when he grows up and went as far to convince his mom to get a Dalmatian puppy which he eloquently named her Dotty.

Danny is one of Freddie's pride and joys. She isn't sure if she'll have kids herself but enjoys her visits with Danny. She taught him how to play basketball.

Freddie isn't close with her brother-in-law but she is polite and cordial with him.

Freddie visits her parents on every single holiday without missing a beat. It slowed once they got a cottage in France when she turned 30 but she still makes time for them.

Has no Aunts and has one Uncle, Jessie Hiram Lounds (May 18, 1954), on her Father's side but he only visits on Christmas.

Freddie tends to be an attention seeker as she felt Christine was favored more. Her envy of her sister multipled in high-school as Christine got better grades, was nicer and more well-liked, got all the boys' attention, and all the teachers' praises. Freddie felt she couldn't live up to her sister's standards and harbored a little resentment because of this and it caused the rift in their relationship. It worsened as Freddie entered college but evened out when she graduated.

It's because of her jealousy of her sister that she wants to be rich and famous so that can set Freddie apart from Christine once and for all.

Freddie calls Christine "Chris" to annoy her.

Freddie, since she was a young girl, had always been found eavesdropping and listening to the gossip that circulated between her mom, her grandma, and their friends. She was the type of person to stir the bot whenever she got bored because she found it incredibly entertaining.

Freddie contemplated going into law in her Junior before settling on Journaling as a Senior.

Freddie was in her high-school's newspaper club, photography club, and the lacrosse team.

In Freshman year Freddie would publish rumors in the school newspaper if you paid her and even made a gossip column for it. This lasted up until Junior year before getting permanently shut down after Freddie posted a raunchy rumor about one of the teachers. This almost got her expelled and kicked out of the newspaper club. In the end she got two months detention and had to write about school games instead.

Freddie has almost gotten suspended twice after getting into fights with people after she published cruel gossip about them.

Freddie took Advanced English classes.

Freddie favorite elective was creative writing.

Freddie is trilingual and speaks English (Native Language), French (Secondary Language), and Spanish (Third Language).

Freddie can sign almost all bad words in ASL and half the alphabet. She doesn't know anymore than that.

Freddie wants to go on a trip visiting all the hotspots of Spain before she turns sixty.

Freddie is a huge horror fan. Her favorite horror movies are Psychological ones.

Freddie LOVES trashy, reality television. The trashier and more dramatic the better.

She also enjoys true crime though the episodes where it ends up being a cold case makes her incredibly upset.

Freddie has a green belt in Karate.

Freddie enjoys Yoga and on a biweekly basis goes to a dance studio down the street of her apartment for lessons.

Freddie had a rebellious streak all throughout high-school and her Freshman year of College.

In College Freddie double majored in English and Journaling. Freddie minored in law and when she had a free period, secretly popped into the criminology classes. She was never caught. She played on the lacrosse team and the basketball team.

Freddie hasn't dated much and had only one long-term relationship (Two Years). She only is bothered by this when she thinks how much she wants a kid.

Freddie adopted a black, stray cat fresh out of college, on the first night she moved into her apartment. She named him Pesky.

Freddie hates serial killer with a vehement passion due to the fact that her best friend and first crush, Hannah Mayes, was murdered by one. The killer ended up in prison for life but Freddie felt like it wasn't enough. It was one of the deciding factors of the Lounds moving from Connecticut.

Freddie still has nightmares about it.

1 - Do you have cats? Tell me about them. No. My sister used to have a cat, but Arlee passed away last April, I think a day or two before my birthday.

2 - Do you have an open fire in your house? Would you like one? Idk what that is, but it doesn’t sound appealing as I live in a tropical country as it is. More heat would just be uncomfortable.

3 - Are you a fan of making things cosy? What kind of things do you do to make your home feel cosy and snug? Cozy is nice, of course, but I wouldn’t always invest in them. I’d want my own place to have scented candles and fluffy pillows and blankets, but those three things are probably enough for me. I don’t really need fairy lights or oil diffusers or whatever.

4 - Do you still buy DVD’s or do you just use Netflix? Netflix. The last time I received a DVD was around...2013 maybe? when my mom gave me a DVD of Gone with the Wind for Christmas. I haven’t sought them out since, since everything is now online anyway.

5 - What kind of games console(s) do you have? What kind of games are your favourite? I grew up around video games but of all the people in my family who enjoys them, I was and am literally the only one who was never any good. I learned to be content with just watching my dad and cousins from the side, haha. Anyway, at home we’re currently using the PS3, PS4, and Switch.

6 - What was the last thing you had to drink? Water.

7 - Do you like things to be colour-coordinated or does it not bother you? Not for absolutely everything, but sure. My notes, back when I was still in school, were always color-coordinated. Also, when my parents asked me to reorganize their closets when I was younger, I liked fixing their clothes according to color too.

8 - Are you a big reader? Do you own many books that you’ve not gotten around to reading yet? I used to be, as a kid. Everyone called me bookworm and I embraced that title, haha. Then I got depressed and that never went away and everything got busy in life, and I was just slowly unable to finish books that I kept buying until I stopped reading altogether. I definitely have a number of books that are still unfinished to this day.

9 - Are you a fan of scented candles? What kind of scent(s) do you like? Mmm no, but I can see the appeal. I’d love to try buying one or two one of these days. They’d probably be perfect for Friday evenings after a work week.

10 - Do you believe that black cats are bad luck? No. I don’t believe in symbols like that. It’s also so frustrating hearing that black cats are still among the least-adopted animals in my country, because it only means people continue to believe in that ridiculous mindset.

11 - What’s your favourite breed of dog? Have you ever owned that breed before? Every breed is my favorite, except for, honestly, chihuahuas and pugs.

12 - Do you have laundry that needs to be done right now? No.

13 - Who or what was the last thing you shouted at? My family was playing Pictionary during the blackout yesterday and that was just a lot of constant yelling, lol

14 - Is there anything in your home that needs repairing or replacing? One of our electric fans broke a few months ago and we have a couple of leaks in the ceiling of our dining room which make it inconvenient whenever it rains. One of the lightbulbs in the kitchen is also close to going out, but I think my dad has already bought a replacement bulb for it.

15 - What kind of phone do you have? Do you use it often? iPhone 8. I’ve definitely been using it a lot recently. My depression for the last two or so months has made me reliant on background noise, so I have YouTube Autoplay all day long. I’m starting to see the effects on the battery hahaha, but it’s okay as I plan to get a new phone once I can finally afford a monthly plan.

16 - Who was the last person you spoke to on video chat? I was on video call with Angel and our HR supervisor on our first day last Monday.

17 - When was the last time you took any medication? Is this something you have to do regularly? I think it was a Biogesic for my headache, which is the only kind of pill I ever take anyway. No, I only pop one whenever I feel my temples start to throb, which isn’t too often.

18 - Where do you keep your shoes when you’re not wearing them? We have a storage space under the stairs, where our shoe rack also is. All my shoes are on there as we’re not allowed to bring any shoes upstairs (welcome to Asian homes, hahaha).

19 - Is your room/home generally clean and tidy? How long would you say you spent on housework each day? It’s clean. I don’t move around in here much except to sit at my desk to work and then sleep at the end of the day, so. As for housework, my mom’s a total control freak when it comes to chores, so even though I always want to help she wants things done her way, the steps of which only she knows.

20 - If you could have any snack in the world right now, what would you pick? What about a drink to go with it? I don’t have any particular craving right now, actually...maybe sushi? Deep fried maki sounds great rn. Just water would be fine.

21 - What’s everyone else in your household doing right now? Dad drove out for his work and my mom tagged along. No clue what my siblings are doing downstairs as I haven’t showed myself today so far.

22 - What was the last new item you bought for your home? (something like curtains or furniture, not something unique for you like clothes). Mom bought new plates as she felt like replacing the plate set we’ve had and been using since first moving here in ‘08. She also got a new tornado mop after the old one broke.

23 - Do you have a favourite mug to drink out of? Does your favourite change depending on what you’re going to be drinking? Yeah I used to love my color-changing mug with the wi-fi design, but now I’ve been using my mom’s Starbucks copper mug the most. As for the second question, no it doesn’t work that way for me. I’ll drink anything in my current favorite mug.

24 - What are five things you like to have within arms reach when you’re sat on the computer or settled down to watch TV? Phone, laptop charger, a hairtie, a blanket, and the cleaning cloth for my glasses.

25 - When doing surveys, do you have a certain routine or anything, or do you just sit and do them whenever and whatever? I don’t have a ~routine per se but I do have a few traditions, so to speak:

I prefer a cup of coffee to accompany me while taking them though I don’t always follow this, like now. 

If I’m taking surveys in public, like at a coffee shop, I zoom out my Chrome to around 67% so that no one could see what I’m doing.

I try to check out Bzoink everyday for new survey leads, but sometimes Tumblr will be filled with good surveys (like now - there are so many good ones floating around on here recently??? I’m so not complaining) and I keep track of them by liking those survey posts to take in the future.

I generally avoid bolding surveys, but when I do take one I prefer to actually answer each item, so that it doesn’t end too quickly for me.

How Big Do German Shepherds Get?

Before I adopted Daisy, a Brittany, I was planning on getting a German Shepherd.

What changed my mind was the size. Not because I didn’t know how big they got, but due to misinformation regarding the townhouse I was planning on buying.

So, it was either I backed out of the purchase of the house or get a different dog breed.

Well, we all know how that ended.

Even though I never got a German Shepherd, my best friend did. She and her husband bought a white German Shepherd from a breeder, and though he’s a fantastic dog, he’s also huge and quite protective.

I’ve had the good fortune to watch him grow and develop from a silly eight-week-old puppy into the very intelligent three-year-old adult he is now.

Even though I personally don’t have a German Shepherd I still think they are amazing dogs, but I also believe they take a lot of work to train and maintain.

Because German Shepherds are such large and powerful dogs, special care is required during their developmental period.

Stages of German Shepherd Puppy Development

Neonatal Period: Birth – 2 Weeks

When German Shepherd puppies are born, they are entirely dependent on their mothers.

The puppies come into this world both blind and deaf and require their mother to provide everything from sustenance to assistance relieving themselves.

During the first week of a puppies life their weight can double or even triple[1]. The average weight gain for puppies is between 10%-15% gain per day.

The first two weeks are a quiet time for the puppies as they spend about ninety percent of their time sleeping, and the other ten percent feeding from their mother.

Towards the end of the first week, the puppies begin to open their eyes and ears, and by the conclusion of week two, the puppies should be able to see and hear fully.

In addition to them opening their ears and eyes, puppies begin to develop their incisors, and begin to move around on their own unsteadily.

By the end of week two, the puppies will begin to acknowledge its littermates and begin to interact with one another.

During this time the puppies will benefit from frequent gentle handling by humans. It’s never too early to start socializing German Shepherd puppies.

Socialization Period: 3 Weeks – 12 Weeks

Between the third and fourth week, puppies will begin to eat solid food, but will still need their mother’s milk.

During this time, their milk teeth will begin to come in.

Week three is a very significant time in a puppy’s life, as this is when their socialization skills and emotional development begins.

The puppies will be more engaged in puppy play with their siblings and will start to be more independent from their mother.

Also, during week three, connections between humans and puppies begin to form.

It is crucial that the puppies receive a lot of positive interactions with humans during this time. While socializing puppies with humans, be sure to include people of different ages, heights, genders, and ethnicities.

In addition to humans, this is also a good time to slowly and safely introduce other animals such as cats or other pets in the home.

It is absolutely vital that the socialization process be a positive experience. Any negative socialization experiences can cause the puppy to have behavioral challenges in the future.

The importance of socialization does not end after week three; this critical time for puppies extends until they are about eighteen months of age.

During a German Shepherd’s development, they will have different fear periods.

During these periods, puppies may show fearful behaviors towards people, places, objects, or other animals that they had previously been exposed to.

The Critical Fear Periods in Puppies

After week four, housetraining can begin.

This will give a puppy a head start on their training when they reach their new home.

Around the sixth week, puppies may start to show signs of dominance when interacting with their littermates.

Also, by now they should be eating solid food and not require their mother’s milk, but they still need their mother for social development.

Up until they are eight weeks old, puppies are all about playing with littermates and exploring their surroundings.

It is important that puppies not be taken from their mother too early, since it is a crucial socialization time for them.  If taken from their mothers too soon they may have lower bite inhibitions and struggle to understand canine social cues.

Juvenile Period: 3 Months – 6 Months

Puppies will have all of their milk teeth by the time they are three months old, and will start to lose them in their fourth month.

However, the puppies will have all of their adult teeth when they are around six months old.

The juvenile period is an excellent period to enroll your puppy into puppy classes where they will continue to develop socialization skills and start basic obedience.

Puppy classes are also a useful resource for learning how to properly deal with the normal day to day challenges puppies bring into your life, such as housetraining issues and biting.

Towards the end of the six months, puppies will have reached sexual maturity.

If you choose to spay your female German Shepherd, it is recommended to do so before six months of age to decrease the risk of joint disorders[3].

However, if you have a male German Shepherd, it is recommended that you wait to neuter your dog until they are between six to eleven months to decrease joint disorders[4].

Sexual Maturity Period: 6 Months – 16 Months

Male and female German Shepherds reach sexual maturity between five to eight months.

When females reach sexual maturity, and if left unaltered, they will go into their first heat during this time.

When males reach sexual maturity, they will begin to mount, mark, and roam while looking to mate.

Transition to Adult Period: 16 Months – 36 Months

German Shepherds reach full emotional, mental, and physical maturity around 36 months.

All dogs are different, so some may take longer to fully mature where others may mature a lot quicker. As a general rule, female German Shepherds tend to develop faster than males.

Regardless of what stage your German Shepherd is in, it’s critical to keep up with obedience training both in a classroom and at home.

German Shepherds are instinctually protective and without continued training and socialization, unfavorable behaviors may develop.

How Much Should an Adult German Shepherd Weigh?

According to the breed standard, adult male German Shepherds normally weigh between 65-90 pounds and females can range between 50-70 pounds[5].

These are averages and weights can vary depending on each dog.

It is not unheard of to find a male German Shepherd weighing more than 100 pounds!

Working Dogs Versus Show Dogs

German Shepherds are a very versatile dog breed.

They can be trained to as show dogs, working dogs, or family dogs.

Show dogs are required to be social so they can be handled by the judges.

They must also fall within the breed standard height and weight ranges in order to be show quality.

In addition, they must exemplify physically the traits commonly associated to the breed, such as color, markings, and gait.

Working dogs do not need to meet any physical breed standards, other than being physically able to do the work they are being trained to do.

German Shepherds have been trained as service dogs, police dogs, military, search and rescue, detection dogs (drugs, bombs, etc.), personal protection, and therapy dogs.

German Shepherds are one of the smartest dog breeds, which makes them ideal as working dogs. German Shepherds are able to think independently or as a team with the human they are working with.

In addition to their intelligence, their protective instincts also allow them to be naturally good police and military dogs.

What If My German Shepherd Isn’t the Right Weight?

You can use a dog scale like this or you can pick up your dog and hold them as you weigh yourself!

That’s a tricky question, but if your German Shepherd isn’t the right weight and you don’t know why then you should bring them to the vet to see if there is a health issue.

There are many benign reasons as to why your German Shepherd isn’t the right weight.

If your German Shepherd is underweight, they are likely not getting enough calories in a day.

Dog food comes in a variety of recipes and it is best to use a large breed food for German Shepherds, especially when they are growing.

When choosing a dog food, choose a protein rich food to help your German Shepherd develop and maintain strong muscles.

If your German Shepherd is overweight the they are not getting enough exercise, are not on the right food, or a combination of the two.

If your German Shepherd is still growing, consult your veterinarian before changing their food. It is important the puppies be on a puppy-specific diet.

Often when puppies are being trained, they can gain weight from all of the treats.

If that’s the case, try a lower calorie treat or just cut back on their meal size.

Exercise is key to a healthy dog and if your dog is overweight then it is best to add exercise in addition to any diet changes.

Diet: Best Food for German Shepherds

German Shepherd puppies need large breed specific diets.

Many different brands offer large breed recipes for puppies, but a good option is Solid Gold’s Wolf Cub with real bison and oatmeal.

It is a high-quality food enhanced with probiotics, which are essential in maintaining healthy GI systems.

When your dog has reached full maturity than can be transitioned to an adult dog food.

Be sure to choose a diet that meets your dog’s activity level.

If your German Shepherd is more active, you will want to put them on a specially formulated food for working dogs. If your dog is less active, you will want to choose a food lower in fat.

German Shepherds do well with high protein diets since protein helps to develop and maintain muscles mass.

If your dog doesn’t require a diet containing grains, a high protein food made by Orijen, Acana, or Taste of the Wild would work best.

Exercise: How to Best Exercise your German Shepherd

Swimming is a full body workout for your dog and, combined with a game of fetch, is a lot of fun.

Swimming is a low impact exercise so there is no concern about the impact on your dog’s joints.

Hiking

Great weekend exercise for both the mind and body.

There will be new smells and sights for your dog to safely explore.

Hiking is far more physically and mentally taxing than your daily walk, plus it is always good to mix it up to avoid boredom.

Flirt Pole

This is a pole with a fuzzy toy attached to it.

The flirt pole brings out a German Shepherd’s natural instinct to chase.

Using a flirt pole is a fast-paced game and can help drain energy faster than a walk; however, it doesn’t provide much mental stimulation.

Whether you are throwing the ball or running on the beach, German Shepherds do need a lot of exercise to stay healthy.

In addition to physical exercise, it is important to include activities that will also provide mental stimulation.

German Shepherds physically grow up fast, but what people tend to forget is that there is still a puppy brain in that big body of theirs.

German Shepherds are fun, active dogs to share your life with, but they do require a fair amount of your time.

Having a dog in your life is a big responsibility, but having a strong, intelligent breed like a German Shepherd is even bigger responsibility.

So I have not closed my eyes that much in the past 3.5 months since I last posted. A myriad of things have occurred in this time. I successfully fostered a cat for 10 weeks and the sweet baby got adopted within 3 days of being listed at the shelter. My sister had a 2-3 week long manic episode that ultimately led to her bipolar disorder diagnosis. My dad had major surgery on his spine. Luckily, my whole family is healthy and under one roof. I’ve accomplished and proven myself in small and big ways at work. Through field work, writing literature, and taking initiative on so many things I wasn’t fully trained on, I think I’ve pulled myself up higher than I thought I would’ve at this point. 

However, I haven’t seemed to kick the anxiety around being fired randomly. I have days where I’m not motivated. Some days I barely get one task done when I committed myself to 4-5 tasks per day.  Other days/weeks I have 10 hour field days and bang out a 25 pg report on a 3 year long study. Some days I spend most of time emailing or talking to people on the phone to coordinate field or lab work, sending deliverables with my ~official~ signature on them. Many of these days, I am truly grateful to have the job, to work with my team, to do the work that I hope is contributing to something purposeful and greater than myself. 

Today wasn’t a great day. I really don’t think I worked more than 1-2 hours on real, in-depth tasks. My car crapped out on me in the morning and that completely changed my schedule so I could immediately get it fixed. Then I spiraled for the rest of the day thinking my boss was mad at me for getting my car fixed during the work day because he appeared to be talking in a higher register and almost fake nice tone with me that didn’t seem like his usual, casual demeanor. I tried to work for the rest of the day, but my mental state just dropped. I was and still am running on under 4 hours of sleep, probably the biggest reason I couldn’t function properly today. My car not working was a cherry on top. 

My constant need to get praise and positive attention from my boss is not healthy. If I don’t get any sort of interaction from people above me, I quickly resort to thinking they’re mad at me, disappointed, or are preparing to fire me. It’s probably likely that my boss is just busy as fuck and has many many more things to think about and do than to check on me. And I notice that this is a thing for me particularly with men above me. I’m a lot more on edge and worried about how they think I’m performing as an employee and even as a person. bc sometimes I truly worry that if I was fully myself, they wouldn’t like me. 

This is how I usually overthink about this:

I can be abrasive to and judgmental about certain people --> maybe she’s not good talking to clients

Some of my social media is public and is very political --> no political statements allowed at work

Bitch, I don’t ski or give a flying fuck about outdoor sports, or sports at all for that matter --> she just doesn’t fit the vibe of literally our entire team who mostly skis 

I want to put out music and make some goddamn funny tiktoks --> she’s a naive child thinking she can work here and do that.

I don’t talk about my family much and sometimes when I do, it comes out in a negative light --> she’s a bitch and complains about everyone

It’s cute to think I can be all the things I know I am and get this stupid ass stamp of approval from work peeps. I barely know them and they barely know me. Yet I spend 8 hours a day working on projects with them. It doesn’t bode well with me to told I’m part of a team, but I’m a straight up fuckin stranger to them. It’s so easy for me to want people to care about me, but why should they? 

Being in this constant oscillation of anxiety and need for attention from people I barely know is pulling me more and more out of my body. I do not like that about myself. I fucking care too much about what others think of me. I’m obsessed with saying all the right things, looking perfect, making no mistakes. But it initiates more anxiety and leads me to make more stupid mistakes sometimes.

I smoke too much weed, feel like drinking more than I should be, riding the carousel of black screen, phone to laptop to phone to tv to phone to laptop to phone phone phone. I’m sick and tired. Literally, unwell and sleep deprived to the nth degree. Will going home to my family reset me or add to this feeling? All I want to do is go home and be left alone. I need like 2 days to be alone and quiet with myself, in my own little room at my ‘rents. It probably gives me the most peace. 

Honestly, I’m not in the mood to see home friends and I don’t want to be around family if there is going to fights or passive-aggressive interactions. I don’t want my days to be packed with a million things. I need no agenda, low key, blissful, indulgent time at home. I need it badly. Because I’m closer and closer to a mental break that could be bad.

She’s never really been into Fashion, although while she was on the Bachelorette she got to wear some really pretty dresses that she thought were kind of cute.  Since she’s been back to reality with her Twins, she’s back in the trust old mom jeans and comfy t-shirts.

Since she was little she’s loved family days at the water park. It was her favourite place in the world as a child, and she can’t wait until the twins are old enough to take.   For now, while they’re still little, Her favourite thing to do with them is to either take them to the playground and have a picnic under the big trees, or spend the afternoon in their back yard while the twins play on their play sets.   19. I’ve tried to keep track of my sims age’s in the past and it’s so hard because time and life stages are so different in the game..   But, at the moment I kind of think of her as around 23-24ish... I’d worked her out to be 22 when she went into the Bachelorette house.  (although I worked it out wrong, the twins were 3 whens she went in and she was meant to be 17 when they were born.. so, meh..) 

20. Does your sim have a dream job? She’d love to be a musician. But, with the surprise of her twins when she was 17, and their father not being in the picture that all got pushed to the side and she became a full time mum.... Now, she loves her job as ‘mum’ and wouldn’t change it for the world.

I am a sweet, gentle ~10 year old 20 lb Maltese / Westie / Shih Tzu / Mini Poodle mystery mix. I am diabetic, and I get shots twice a day before breakfast and dinner, I don't mind one bit. The expense for my prescriptions is about $25 per month, which is probably less than you'll spend on cute t-shirts for me. I also have mild hypothyroid which I take pills for with breakfast and dinner, and am almost completely blind. My sight doesn't really slow me down though, I bump into stuff once in awhile, but since I usually walk around slow anyway I never "crash" into anything. And once I get comfortable in a house I can find my way around (even in / out the dog door) all by myself. I am a very quiet dog, I've been known to go weeks without barking one single time. I am always happy to meet new people. Especially if they come bearing snacks. I'm very mellow and don't require much in the way of exercise. I'm super easy-going and easy to take care of. I'm not demanding and though I often choose to nap near people, I am fairly independent and don't require constant attention. You do your thing, I don't really want to help you update that database anyway. I don't need the companionship of another dog, but if you have other dogs I do get along perfectly with other mellow dogs whose priorities in life are similar to mine. Walk around patrolling for dropped crumbs, take a nap, go outside and roll around in the sun a little bit, take a nap, patrol for crumbs again (still nothing?), drink some water, see what's over there, sit on my pillow...take another nap... I would be a great fit for someone retired, or for anyone who wants a mellow easygoing companion. My foster parents work full time and I am totally fine staying at home alone all day. I don't have any separation anxiety whatsoever (not even a teeny, tiny, bit) and have no destructive tendencies. I can be trusted alone in the house without supervision. You may be wondering what in this great wide world really pushes my buttons. Well I'll tell you. FOOD. I love food. I mean I really LOOOVE food. You thought that you loved food, but you don't. Not compared to me. I don't eat stuff like shoes or socks (gross) but if it's food, I'm putting it in my mouth. Dropped a piece of cereal? Mine. Dropped a piece of lettuce from your salad? Mine. Dropped an entire chicken leg? KISS THAT THING GOODBYE. Because of my diabetes I'm really only supposed to eat certain things, and at certain times of the day. But do I let that stop me from inhaling dropped food? Not on your life. Food that makes its way to the floor is clearly fair game. I've learned that the people in my foster home can be pretty clumsy so just to cover all the bases, any time I hear anyone going into the kitchen for any reason, I accompany them, just in case they happen to drop something. I want to be close so I can help clean up any messes, you understand. My foster mom gives me a bath once a week because she says if she doesn't my hair gets greasy. Puh-lease! I'm a lady. A fluffy white lady dog with a reputation to maintain. I don't believe I NEED a bath once a week. I take baths because I like smelling like a fresh spring flower afterward, but I don't think I really NEED a bath. My foster mom also says I have the worst flatulence ever. I don't think that's true. While I'm sleeping? What a tale. Nobody's going to believe that. Look at my adorable face. Next she'll be telling you I snore like a freight train. Which would also be a Complete. And. Total. Falsehood. I can handle some stairs, but if there are too many I'll get tired of climbing. I'm not very athletic. I just got all my bloodwork re-run in February 2017 and the vet said all my levels look great! History:

Gabriel’s life began in an incubator, according to his adoptive parents. He remained there for six months after his birth. He had been born prematurely due to his mother’s heroin abuse. A side effect of which was his own opiate addiction. After testing positive for opiates at birth, Child and Family Services stepped in. He then became a ward of the state. According to his parents, his birth mother only remained in the picture a short time. She came to visit him in the hospital the first week of his life but disappeared not long after. She would later die from a heroin overdose and his father was never identified. John and Marie Oliver stepped in as foster parents, raising him from birth. They would later adopt him. He had been lucky. John and Marie were kind, generous people with a strong faith. John was a doctor and Marie an attorney. They were the adoptive parents of four children. Gabriel was the oldest of his adoptive siblings, three sisters.

Gabriel was three when his adoptive  parents realized he had a ferocious appetite for reading and a photographic memory.  By the time he was three years old, Gabriel was speaking four languages fluently.  The traditional school system proved to be inadequate in their efforts to keep Gabriel challenged, thus his parents began to homeschool him with the aid of tutors from the third grade on.  For all intents and purposes, Gabriel was considered a child prodigy, having an above average IQ and mastered all the required testing for each of his respective grade levels. His parents fought tooth and nail against their son being escalated through any grade levels beyond his age.  When Gabriel finally began high school, his parents agreed to allow him to simultaneously complete undergraduate coursework at a community college. By the time he graduated high school he had an exceptional GPA, and dozens upon dozens of scholarship offers to attend practically any school of choice.

Gabriel wasn’t particularly fond of the idea of college initially. His plan was to go off backpacking around Europe. To his parent’s dismay, they learned Gabriel had been planning and saving for his so called adventure for over a year. He had enough money to pay for his own flight to Europe and money to live on for year or longer. During this time Gabriel met a French woman named Anya and after an all too brief fling, they became engaged and quickly married. Anya was pregnant after just a few months of marriage. After traveling and living out their dreams of adventure for nearly two years, Gabriel moved his family back to the states where he applied and was accepted at Harvard. It was during his first year that Gabe lost his daughter in a boating accident. Anya left him shortly after. Gabriel struggled with depression and grief for nearly a year, then eventually went on to channel his energy and pain into his studies. During his undergrad years, he spent summers traveling abroad, doing volunteer work in France with the goal of satisfying the requirements needed to be a part of the Médecins Sans. By the age of twenty-six, he’d completed his MD at Harvard and then went on to complete his residency there as well by the age of thirty. Once he completed his residency and required clinical commitment, he joined MSF. He has since completed eight missions with MSF. Gabriel has served in countries like Syria, Iraq, Tanzania, Congo, and the Sudan. Gabriel found his experiences over the past five years to be immensely rewarding, however, he still yearns  for a sense of family ties and is intent on finding what was left of his biological family.

In 2015 Gabriel and other staff members were working at a hospital in a remote area of Kunduz, Afghanistan, overwhelmed with an onslaught of injured victims. It was early dawn one morning when they heard sounds of nearby bombing. No one suspected they were under attack since medical facilities in war stricken countries are supposed to be protected, neutral ground per international humanitarian laws and the Geneva Convention. By the time Gabriel and his colleagues realized they were being attacked, the hospital was already in flames and several staff members and patients had demised from the impact of the bombing. After the bombing, rather than run from the flames, Gabriel ran to them, helping the surviving patients get out until he was forced to leave when first respondents to the blast finally arrived. Gabriel was lucky, making it out alive with minimal physical damage to his body, second and third degree burns to his lower extremities and some hearing loss. However, seeing his colleagues killed right in front has  him left him emotionally scarred,  plagued with Survivor’s Syndrome and PTSD. After several rounds of reconstructive surgery and a period of recovery in Europe, Gabriel has returned to Hickory Creek with hopes of reconciling a past relationship.
