She was in a small rural shelter in south Texas NOT open to the public. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The post read: “Young short female terrified 😔 15ish lbs shakes and cries if you touch her, she was taken away from owner on an animal cruelty charge. Neighbors reported owner would beat her with a belt 😔” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ She stayed in the shelter for 30 days alone without human touch, petrified in the corner of her kennel. A volunteer that networks put out a plea and I could not get her out of my head. The video played over and over in my mind. I just kept seeing the helplessness and the fear. NOT ANYMORE- I responded and said she will NOT suffer another day! Every animal deserves a chance. We never give up. We take the unwanted, we take the broken, and we do what others call impossible no matter what the cost. This is what we stand for- Dallas Dog Rescue Rehab Reform. She was beaten repeatedly over and over with a belt tied to a tree outside! She pees at the touch of a hand and shakes in fear in the presence on humans. This is where we come in and show her GRACE, LOVE and PATIENCE. She will not be an easy case. She’ll take work and time, but she will come to learn love and trust of humans ❤️. She arrived in Dallas yesterday and is at our contracted rescue boarding and will be assessed by our trainer to put a plan in place. We named her GIA 💝 meaning "God's gracious gift". FOSTER NEEDED! A patient foster home with space for her to decompress and time to show her humans can be GOOD.
