She was in a small rural shelter in south Texas NOT open to the public. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The post read: “Young short female terrified 😔 15ish lbs shakes and cries if you touch her, she was taken away from owner on an animal cruelty charge. Neighbors reported owner would beat her with a belt 😔” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ She stayed in the shelter for 30 days alone without human touch, petrified in the corner of her kennel. A volunteer that networks put out a plea and I could not get her out of my head. The video played over and over in my mind. I just kept seeing the helplessness and the fear. NOT ANYMORE- I responded and said she will NOT suffer another day! Every animal deserves a chance. We never give up. We take the unwanted, we take the broken, and we do what others call impossible no matter what the cost. This is what we stand for- Dallas Dog Rescue Rehab Reform. She was beaten repeatedly over and over with a belt tied to a tree outside! She pees at the touch of a hand and shakes in fear in the presence on humans. This is where we come in and show her GRACE, LOVE and PATIENCE. She will not be an easy case. She’ll take work and time, but she will come to learn love and trust of humans ❤️. She arrived in Dallas yesterday and is at our contracted rescue boarding and will be assessed by our trainer to put a plan in place. We named her GIA 💝 meaning "God's gracious gift". FOSTER NEEDED! A patient foster home with space for her to decompress and time to show her humans can be GOOD. She recently began peeing outside of the litter box and the vet diagnosed her not only with a UTI but also severe liver failure. Flash has been hospitalized. She is receiving lots of fluids, medications and force feeding (she is too sick to eat on her own right now). The doctor feels like she has a good prognosis if we are aggressive with her treatment and keep her hospitalized. It’s possible it could take up to a week to stabilize her. She was in Garland Shelter for over a month. Audrey is diabetic, has Fatty Liver Disease & is jaundiced. She is now with me - she has been syringe fed & has finally started eating. She gets sub Q fluids, medication for nausea & pain and will start on some meds for her liver. She has had lab work twice and will be needing more comprehensive lab work done as the second results were worse - this lab will cost $207.25. She will probably also need an Abdominal Ultrasound which will cost $280. I have her now.💔💔💔 This baby is Electra. She’s very active and I was able to get some food into her. Tobramycin has already been applied to her eyes. Nose looks a little bloody and raw from trying to get out of the finder’s box. She’s been taken to the emergency vet and has an injury to her mouth and tongue. The vet said this is possibly from some sort of possible burn.💔💔😢 They said she may have bitten through an electrical wire. The problem is that if a cat looses more than 30% of their tongue’s function, they can’t eat, and won’t thrive. She also has a URI. They are going to give her a steroid injection and antibiotic injection then we will see how she does over the next 48 hours.
