main takeaway from certain fan reactions to the finale is this:

the final scene with ankarna was so meaningful to the bad kids' arcs and how they made peace with being wronged by people they loved, and if all you can focus on is that the rat grinders didn't get much screentime, then you don't love dimension20 and you don't love this world: you want to be playing your own hs themed dnd campaign and you're mad the oc versions of the rat grinders you made up in your head acted ooc. these are not your characters and this is not their story.

the antis at Fox missed a PRIME opportunity in Apocalypse to reprise the end of First Class where, instead of Charles waking up to Moira and awkwardly giving his "we're on a beach in Cuba" speech to the Script Decreed hetty love interest, he would wake up to Erik and say the same thing.

It would've bookended that moment of tragedy in First Class with an acknowledgement of peace and forgiveness between them and given a pause of due praise for Erik's heroic moment. The moment Erik finally realized he had more to fight for than to kill for and "came around" to the side of peace. Something that would've hit Charles in the heart for sure & he wouldn't have hesitated to acknowledge it.

It would've had so much more pathos! Also it would've, of course, been a direct parallel to how the blocking of the scene in First Class went down with Moira as the third party. This time, however, Charles would've chose Erik and it would've been a Moment for them both.

Erik, worried: Do you know where you are?

Charles, wistfully: I'm on a beach. In Cuba.

Erik: [affected, guilty. brushes it off and says something about how Moira was watching over Charles]

Charles, touched because he realizes what actually happened seeing the giant metal X guarding the entry way. Why he's alive. Repeating his words from years before, purposefully, this time with respect and love: She didn't do this Erik. You did.
