Sippin' on Sunshine
Pairing - Bruce Wayne x F!Reader
Summary - You and Bruce get away from Gotham on his yacht.
Warnings - Established relationship, Mild sexual content, Age gap, Swearing, Intoxication, Fluff, Bruce's POV, a very brief mention of past unconsenual touching (not Bruce's doing!).
Word Count - 2.1k
The sun is shining brightly, making the brilliant blue of the sea glisten. The smell of salt fills Brue’s nose whilst a gentle breeze ruffles the open shirt he’s currently wearing and waves gently lap at the side of his yacht. He’s lounging on a sun lounger, a glass of whiskey, neat, in his hand. You’re just ahead of him, in a bikini of your favourite colour, dancing and singling along to the bubblegum pop that’s blaring from the speakers. All of it is almost enough for him to completely forget about how much older he is than you.
Almost.
Until he is catching sight of his distorted reflection in his drink and he’s reminded of the grey in his hair and the wrinkles by the corners of his eyes. He stares at it for a moment before downing the rest of his drink in one and setting aside the now empty glass, on the table next to him. If someone he trusted was to ask him he doesn’t know if he would be able to lie for once. The constant implications from every article surrounding the two of you and your relationship, implying he’s a cradle robber (because they know what will happen if they say it directly), and that he’s in the middle of a midlife crisis have started getting to him way more than he ever thought they would.
None of them change the way that he feels about you. You are completely and utterly intoxicating to him. The way that you look at him and say his name. The way that you curl up against him at night and the love songs that you sing to him from the playlist you have curated specifically for him, while he drives you somewhere. How you comb your fingers through his hair and you pepper his face with soft kisses. Or the sound of your laughter, your giggles especially, when he tells a bad joke or teases you.
All of it has him feeling a way that he has never felt before. It scares him and if he was a younger man it would make him run. In that way, he supposes, it’s a good thing he’s not a younger man.
You are none the wiser to his inner turmoil. You’re still dancing and signing along to the music which, of course, you’re great at. It’s the type of thing that, he supposse, is to be expected from a woman whose parents discovered she was talented early on in life and decided to exploit that for as long as possible. Until one day you finally turned around, told them to fuck off and started doing everything that you could to destroy the cute and friendly child star image you had attached to you. Which is another thing that the tabloids like to latch on to. Claiming that you’re using him to continue your rebellion and destruction of that image, dragging him down with you.
None of them bother you and he doesn’t believe a single word of them anyway. Besides, the several playboy photoshoots you have done, each one more risque than the last, have surely already done that damage you were looking for. Even if they hadn’t, and if you wanted him to help out, he’s always more than happy to do exactly that. You only need to ask him and he will help you put on a show that no one will be able to erase from their minds.
Your eyes finally meet his, your body turning to face him as you stop dancing. Your chest is heaving as you catch your breath. With his hand, he gestures for you to come over to him. Bruce wants to indulge in you, have you chase away the thoughts that are currently plaguing him. Your face immediately lights up and you eagerly make your way over to him.
He catches you as you almost fall as you make a move to straddle his body. Bruce makes a mental note to slow down your alcohol and to get some food inside of you, knowing all too well how yachts and intoxication don’t mix well with each other.
Though it is a sign of how comfortable and safe you feel when you’re around him. He knows that you have been on plenty of yachts in the past, but were always surrounded by men who only wanted to discuss “important things” and were way too comfortable with touching you when you really didn’t want them to.
It’s been a few days since you first told him that. It had come up shortly after he had presented the idea of getting away from Gotham for a little while on his yacht, that honestly never gets used anymore. You had been apprehensive about the idea until he had explained that, other than some staff, it was just going to be you and him. No one else. You had been excited about it after that. And if you hadn’t been? Well, he always had the private jet on stand by, ready to whisk you away and take you wherever you want at a moment’s notice.
Bruce still feels himself boiling over with rage over it when he thinks about it. When the two of you get home, he already has plans to to find these men and ruin their lives. Perhaps even put the fear of Batman into all of them. It doesn’t matter how long ago it was, he refuses to let them get away with any of it, but that will have to happen after you get home.
“Careful,” he chides softly, his hand coming to rest high up on your waist to support you.
“Sorry,” you mumble. Your hands come up to cup his face and you lean in to kiss him. You taste like the lemonade and melon liquor you have been drinking today. Sweet and delicious.
He sighs softly as you part, a hand coming up to tuck some of your hair behind your ear. ‘ I’ll never get tired of kissing her,’ he thinks fondly as he gazes into your eyes.
“Are you having fun?” he asks.
His question seems to take you by surprise as you pull away from him a little and frown. You weren’t expecting him to ask you that.
“Of course I am. Why wouldn’t I be?” You don’t give him a second to reply, however, the gears in your inebriated mind spinning and working hard, quickly coming to your own conclusion before he can think of what to say. “Are you asking because of what I told you?”
He nods. “Yeah. Just wanted to make sure that you’re doing okay.”
Your frown disappears as your face softens and you look at him in a way that you never have before. He can’t name the emotion in your eyes, but it’s enough to make it feel like his heart has just skipped a beat, like he’s a damn teenager again. It doesn’t last long and you’re breaking the moment as you giggle. Something else occurring to your inebriated brain.
“Is that why your hands are so high up on my body?” You giggle again, finding the whole thing very amusing. One of your hands covers the one that’s resting on your waist and you move it down until he’s cupping your ass, your bottom lip caught in your teeth. “You know I don’t mind it when you touch me in less than gentlemanly ways.”
He huffs a laugh and moves his hand off of your ass, bringing it to rest on your thigh instead. He can already see where your mind is headed, but he’s still focused on being a gentleman and not overstepping. Especially with the state that you’re currently in.
“I know, but I don’t want to overstep and make you uncomfortable, sweetheart,” he tells you.
“You’re not making me uncomfortable,” you reply. You lean in and rub your nose against his. “I want you, Brucie.”
He hums. “I think we should have some lunch first,” he suggests. As much as he loves taking you to his bed and drawing every sweet noise of you that he can, whenever he can, he wants to sober you up first. It’s no fun if you’re too drunk to properly enjoy yourself. Not to mention that he doesn't want to take advantage of your current state.
There’s no argument from you, your mind quickly switching away from thoughts of sex to thoughts of what the chef might be serving for lunch. He helps you up and, with a hand on your waist, he keeps you close to him as you both head inside.
Lunch certainly helped with sobering you up. It helps that the chef had made your favourite, per Bruce’s request. You are no longer as giggly as before and Bruce is no longer worried about you potentially falling overboard. Not that he was going to let you get anywhere close to the edge of the yacht to let that happen anyway, but it’s better not to tempt things.
Neither of you have any interest in returning outside to the lounge in the sun. For the time being at least. Instead you are more than content to stay inside, enjoying the air conditioning, while you’re laying on top of him. His fingers resting on the back of your neck, while he kisses you soft and slowly.
He love this. Being lazy and indulging in you. No rush to do anything and not having to worry about the next problem on his never ending list of problems. At least for the moment.
To think that there was once a time where he had thought he would go crazy if he wasn’t working on his next project or case file. From the moment that he laid eyes on you at that charity event, you have changed a lot of things for him.
Bruce’s free hand trails down your body, mapping out all of your curves, before finally coming to rest on your ass; which he gives a squeeze. You gasp and give him the perfect opportunity to slip his tongue inside of your mouth. Moaning into the kiss, your hand fists his shirt while you start to grind against him, making him twitch inside of his shorts. You definitely feel it because your grinding grows more insistent, making him grow hard.
“Fuck,” he groans against your mouth. He gives your ass another squeeze in retaliation, as well as a light slap that has you gasping again. Letting you know that two can play at that game. It does nothing to discourage you. If anything, you only grow bolder as you take hold of his hand and slip into your bikini, letting him feel just how aroused you are from him. He groans again.
Bruce shouldn’t reward you. He really shouldn’t. It will just cause you to think that you can get away with this again, in the future. At the same time, he can’t help himself. He does so love to spoil you and you deserve to be spoiled. He presses his fingers up against your engorged clit, enjoying the stutter in your breathing. He plays with you for a moment, drawing soft, breathy noises from you, before finally pushing his fingers inside; loving the way your mouth drops open in a perfect ‘O’ shape.
He has half a mind to finish you off right here, right now, but he catches movement out of the corner of his eye. It serves as a reminder that the two of you aren’t completely alone on the yacht. You whine when he pulls his hand out of your bikini.
“How about we move this to the cabin?” he suggests.
“And if I want to stay and do it here instead?” You bring his slick covered fingers up to your lips and, one by one, start to suck them clean. The sight is almost enough to make him reconsider, but then he hears the clatter of plates and glasses.
“As much as I would love to–” he gestures with his head toward the open door– “I prefer being the only person knowing what you look like when you’re riding me.”
You consider what he has said for a moment before nodding, deciding that he’s right. “Okay,” you agree with him. “And then we can have a copious amount of chocolate?”
He laughs softly. Your sweet tooth is almost as bad as his own. Bruce sits up, getting you to wrap your legs around his hips before standing up. You giggle as you wrap your arms around his neck and he rubs his nose against yours. “How about both at the same time?”

Sunshine | D.G
Pairing: Dick Grayson X Fem!Reader
Summary: The caregiver becomes the care receiver.
Word Count: 2.0K
A/N: First time writing DC, hopefully this doesn’t suck.
If anyone took a look at him, they’d see nothing but a sun. The hot, blazing, and bright sun. There wasn’t a day that its light was blocked; despite the clouds coming to block the light, it still shined through, proving everyone wrong. It made her head tilt.
She was no master detective, but she wasn’t stupid either. He smiled with both sides of his mouth, never favoring one another. He held his head up high and shoulders perfectly rolled back. Even at meal times, he had perfect dining etiquette. She looked around the dinner table and saw the rest of his siblings eating comfortably.
Then it started getting foggier. His hair was frizzier than usual. His eyes were tinted red just the slightest bit. He was heavy on his feet. She sat in the cave with Tim. It was always cold and chilly in the cave: the dark grey walls and the occasional chirps of the bats above. The floor was smooth and freezing, but after sitting on it for several hours, she had gotten used to it.
Tim had files and papers scattered throughout the floor. They used the floor like a corkboard and started connecting cases. But she kept him in sight from the corner of her eye. Bruce had placed different types of acrobatic equipment in the cave for him, and he used it. She watched him continue to flip on the bars.
“Y/n?” A voice called, “Hello? Are you listening?”
She shook out of her daydream, “Yes, sorry.”
“I think that scarecrow must be involved?”
“That can’t be, though, he’s in Arkham, and Commissioner Gordon said that these victims appeared to be sprayed with Jokers Venom.”
“Yes, but reading through the police reports and witness statements, it says they all heard intense screaming right before crazed laughter.”
Y/n ran a hand down her face, “Fuck, so are we looking for a mixture of Fear Toxin and Joker Venom?”
“It appears so.”
“Why can’t Gotham just be normal.” Tim chuckled at her distress, “I wish I-“
A thud in the distance cut her off. Suddenly she realized that Dick was no longer in her peripheral vision. Y/n looked up to see him struggling to stand up and using one of the bars as support to help him stand. Her heart was racing, and her eyes narrowed. His body was sweaty, and his hair was sticking to his forehead.
“You okay, Dick?”
He looked up hazily, “I’m fine, Tim. Just slipped, is all.”
“He never slips.” Y/n whispered.
“Maybe he’s just tired?” Tim shrugged.
Y/n couldn’t stop staring. His body was lethargic and moving slower than usual. She thought he would reach for the bars again, but he didn’t. Instead, he collapsed on the floor, sitting crisscrossed. It confused her. If he didn’t get it the first time, he would do it until he could do it seamlessly. She could remember his persistence and determination like it was yesterday they were sitting in Haly’s Circus. He begged her to teach him to walk the tightrope but never got it.
“Do you think if I got a sample of the gas, you could have it tested?”
“Possibly, but you’d have to be extremely careful.“
Tim hummed, “I’ll see what I can do. Thank you.”
“Of course.”
She stood from her place on the floor and walked to the man lying on the cold floor, covered in sweat. As she approached, she could hear his breathing more clearly. He was panting heavily, and he hadn’t even done much. Y/n got next to him and realized his eyes were closed. She knelt beside his ribs and could feel the heat radiating off his body. Her hand went gently to his left cheek.
“Dick,” He didn’t move, “Dick, are you okay?”
His body was unresponsive, “Love, come on, wake up.”
She felt frantic, and her hand gently slapped his cheek, “Grayson, come on. I know you’re in there. You need to wake up.”
Y/n could hear a faint gurgling noise, and her body kicked into motion, “Tim! Tim! Get me a garbage can, quick!”
Her hands went under his arms and helped him sit upright. She felt the plastic can move to her left and placed his head over it. Her right hand was on his sweat-soaked back, rubbing up and down. His body gasped awake and threw up into the garbage can. Tim sat by her side, concerned and confused. Dick was gasping for air. His left hand was searching for something to grasp.
It quickly found her other hand and squeezed tightly, “It’s alright, I’m right here. You’re doing great.”
Dick sat over the trash can, heaving. His breaths came quick, and his heart palpitating rapidly. He couldn’t hear anything. It was all ringing, and his vision seemed blurry. He recognized the hand in his and the hand on his back. It was the same hands that held him at night, the ones who kept him safe, the ones that kept him steady. He felt something cold on his face. His mouth was being wiped with a washcloth, and his cheeks.
It had all felt so real. It didn’t make sense. He was fine this past week. Except for maybe hearing things that weren’t there or seeing shadows of people no longer living. He remembered sitting in bed while she was at the desk in their shared bedroom. Light music traveled through the room, and he heard it. It was the music that played at the circus. He had asked her if she was playing it, and Y/n shook her head. He didn’t see her turning back to her desk and biting her lip.
They came in spurts. Sometimes it took place over a day or a week, at the worst times, over a month. But nothing would ever make sense until after it occurred. He’d hear the circus music, see shadows of his parents, hear their laughter, see the bright lights. Those bright lights always shined just like the sunlight. He could always feel their radiated warmth, and he shined in it. He thrived in their white led bulbs.
Slowly he was coming back to earth. There were no big bright lights here. It was dark, and the bat computer radiated a blue light throughout the cave. The floor was cold beneath him, and his body shivered. Something soft was placed over his body, and he relished in the warmth. The hands were still on his body. He was thankful. It was keeping him on earth.
Y/n looked into his eyes to see him slowly returning to his senses. Tim was pacing beside them, antsy as always. She watched Dick slowly push the garbage can away from his face. She smiled, “Welcome back to the land of the living, my love.”
Dick gave her a faint smile before looking at his anxious younger brother, “Tim if you don’t stop pacing, I might throw up again.”
“I’m worried!” He exclaimed; Dick furrowed his eyebrows, “I’ve never seen you like that! You’ve never fallen from the bars, ever.”
His body was still coming down from his high, and he swayed. Y/n pulled his body closer to hers, and Dick’s head rested on her chest. His hand was still holding hers tightly. The scent of her perfume easing the process back to the world. He felt terrible for getting sweat all over her clean clothes. She had just done laundry, and Dick felt like a burden. He tried to lift his head, but she didn’t give. He was slightly relieved.
“I’m alright, Tim,” Dick rasped, “No big deal. It happens sometimes.”
“Sometimes?” Tim stopped, “What do you mean? Is this a frequent thing? Is this a symptom of something?”
Y/n could hear Tim mumbling under his breath about symptoms of certain conditions because if there was anything Tim knew, it was facts. She smiled at his concern. Dick was still trying to lift his head to get his sweaty hair away from her shirt. Eventually, she let him move his head to her shoulder. The tips of his black hair tickled her neck.
“Tim,” Dicks cheeks were rosy, and his lips were curled in a small smile, “Sit.”
Tim grumbled and sat in front of them. Dick reached his clammy hand out, and Tim took it in his without a second thought. Tim’s hands were always cold and dry, and Dick smiled more at the familiarity, “You know what PTSD is, right?”
“Mhm,” Tim hummed, “It’s a post-traumatic stress disorder. Most of us in this house have it. We wouldn’t have been adopted without some form of it.”
Dick chuckled, “That’s all it is, Tim.”
He didn’t look amused, “That doesn’t make sense.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean that you’ve never been like this before, so it just randomly happens one day?” Tim rambled, “I mean, you’ve never even stumbled before, not anywhere. We’ve been to Haly’s Circus since everything happened multiple times.”
“Do you know why we do that?”
“Because you and Y/n grew up there, and you want us to see where you grew up?”
Y/n kissed Dicks temple, “You are right. But we also go so Dick can work through his memories of the Circus.”
“I’m not scared of the circus by any means.” Dick clarified, “I get flashbacks of being on that trapeze, of hearing my mother screaming for me and watching my father try to break her fall.”
Tim squeezes Dick’s hand tighter, “I didn’t know. How could we have not noticed.”
“Tim, it isn’t your fault,”
“No, no.” Tim’s hand was ripped from Dick’s grasp, “I should’ve noticed. I should’ve known. I was there that night and every night afterward.”
Dick stood up unsteadily. Y/n jumped up to help support him, and he walked to Tim. His arms went around the younger boy tightly. He had no choice but to place his head under Dick’s chin and hold him tightly. Tim pulled away, “I guess I never realized that the person holding us all together could also have flaws.”
“It’s okay. I don’t want you guys to see it.” Dick said, “I hide it so you guys don’t see that side of me. I’m the golden boy remember? The sunshine of the Wayne household. I got a reputation to uphold.”
Tim latched back onto Dick, holding him tighter than ever, “Don’t ever risk your mental health for reputation.”
Dick snorts, “Okay, Mr ‘I haven’t slept in four days, and I need to get this report done, or Bruce might disown me.’”
Y/n chuckled, and Tim pulled back to glare, “That’s my job, not yours.”
“I love you, baby bird.”
“I love you too.”
It didn’t take long for Dick’s accident to travel throughout the house. Y/n had tried to keep it under wraps for Dick’s sake, but Tim didn’t have it. Dick just shrugged his shoulders. They ended up in the living room of the manor, where boxes of candy were opened and left everywhere. Popcorn was thrown across the room, and Y/n swore she could hear Alfred sighing somewhere.
She and Dick were situated on a two-person couch. His head was on her lap, and his legs were hanging off the armrest. Jason and Tim sat on the other two-person couch. While Steph, Cass, Damian, and Duke sat on the much longer couch between them. A movie was playing on the television, but no one was watching. They were all laughing and talking.
Y/n’s hands ran through Dick’s black hair, and his eyes opened. She saw the sky in them, the beautiful crystal clear sky. They shined with kindness and love. The love for her, for his family, for his life. They shined with hope for his city, for his future wife, and for the people in Gotham and Blüdhaven. His smile was blinding, and he couldn’t have been happier than in her arms with his family of birds and bats.
“So, is this what it feels like to be taken care of?”
“Yes, lovebird,” She smiled softly, “It is.”

A Gemstone’s Worth
Welcome to Day 29 of Blacktober!
The next day arrives and Bruce Wayne is driving through downtown Gotham City as he makes his way to the irate woman he had met the night before.
Her secretary has claimed that she was currently in her office at the parlor today and this was a great opportunity for him to give her some information about what his brokers had done behind closed doors.
As he arrived at L/n Styles, Bruce could see that the area where the store was located was just a ways off of where the shopping district is located and would hope that it was getting just as much revenue as the other stores.
The storefront was painted with white and grey accents and neon aesthetics, a cozy greeting for those who entered. It had a window that displayed three mannequins, styled with both street fashion and jewelry, along with the prices.
Entering the store, Bruce adjusts the Manila folder tucked under his right arm and looks around the store, rows of clothes were neatly lined up on racks, each color coded and style wise on each metal frame.
“Hello, welcome to L/n Styles!” He looks to his left and sees a young girl come up to him. Her style was streetwear with a touch of goth and her hair was long and bright blue.
“Can I help you with anything? Looking for anything special?” She asked professionally.
“Just the owner. I was told that she would be here today.” Bruce says and the young girl hums in thought.
“Ms. L/n doesn’t allow anyone in her office unless it’s an appointment. Did you have an appointment set up with her?” She asks tilting her head.
Her name tag read: Luda and Bruce digs in his pocket to take out his business card, handing it to her.
“I would appreciate it if you would give this to her, Miss Luda. It’s imperative that I speak with her.” Bruce insists and Luda shrugs before leaving to head to the back of the store.
Bruce takes this time to look around the store, taking note of the intricate details and makings of the store. It really fit a young people and teenager audience unfortunately Bruce wasn’t too understanding of fashion.
“Mr. Bruce Wayne?” Luda calls and he looks up to see the young girl waving him over to her.
Walking over to her, Luda parts the curtains that leads to the back of the store and motions Bruce to enter.
“Ms. L/n is down this hallway to the right, you can’t miss it.” She instructs.
“Thank you.” He says and Luda hums in response leaving him with a swish of the curtains adjusting back in place once she’s gone.
Bruce follows her instructions and is now standing in front of a tall white arched closed doorframe. Knocking, he waits for the command to come inside.
“Come in, Mr. Wayne.” He heard the tired voice of Y/n speak through the door.
He twists the silver knob and pushes the door open to reveal a quaint office that fit the aesthetic of the storefront.
Writing on a piece of paper, Y/n was busy making sure that all the money that she spent this month was balancing with the amount in her ledger.
“You can have a seat. I’ll be right with you.” She tells him.
Bruce does so and checks out the decor on her desk especially the photo that sat on the left of her pencil cup. In the photo was a picture of two women, twins hugging one another with bright smiles on their faces and a man with both his hands on top of their heads.
“So,” Y/n begins and sets down her pen, looking up at him with her hands folded in front of her.
“You have information on what is going on with your company and mine?” She gets straight to the point.
Bruce pulls out the folder and sets it on the desk, opening it to show a stack of paper clipped forms inside. He hands the stack over to Y/n who looks over the paperwork, flipping to the next page to read over each one.
“The first two pages are apart of a contract that one of the brokers investing in my company has signed. It would seem that they had added a clause involving your store and has been taking 40% of the shares since the start of this year.” Bruce explains.
“And you just so happened to just find out about this?” Y/n questions as she flips through the rest of the paperwork, seeing that they were obsolete to what she needed to know.
Bruce waits patiently as the woman continued to read the documents in hand. He then jumps back in his chair as the stacks of paper is thrown into his face, falling into his lap.
“What-“
“I think you’re full of shit, Mr. Wayne,”Y/n folds her hands on her desk again and gives him a blank look.
“You’re not going to just say that and think everything will be all good after what’s happened to my family business. I lost money, lots of money because you didn’t read the fine print, my business is at a point where I could lose it. So, I would suggest you and I swap our lawyer’s information because I am officially going to take you to court.” Y/n declares and Bruce’s eyes widen.
“Wait, Miss. L/n that is not necessary, I’m sure we can come to a conclusion-“
“Either hand me the information or I’ll call security to escort you out of my store. There should not be any more contact between you and me unless legal counsel is present.” Y/n slides over a pen and notepad then waits and Bruce sighs as he pulls out his phone and wrote down his lawyer’s phone number.
Y/n writes down her lawyer’s information and slides it over to him. Getting up, Y/n walks to her door and opens it, motioning for him to leave her office.
“Have a lovely day, Mr. Wayne.” Y/n says, not a once of sincerity in her tone. Bruce leaves and nods politely to her in passing.
Once Bruce is back in his car, the sigh that leaves him is long and full of aggravation. His phone rings in the cup holder and he picks it up, seeing that it was Alfred calling.
Answering it, Bruce puts it on speaker as he starts up his car.
“How did it go with Miss. L/n, sir?”
“Alfred, I need to have one of my suits ready for the next couple of weeks.” Bruce rubs his temples in annoyance.
“What for sir?”
“I’m officially being sued.” Is all he says and Alfred sighs through the phone.
“Well, I suppose this would happen sooner or later. Didn’t expect it to be so soon.” Alfred says.
“What do you mean by that?”
“Sir, there is an emergency beacon going off.” Alfred alerts
“Where?”
“I’m sending the coordinates to you now.” Bruce puts his car in drive to head into the city.
“Send the Batmobile to the coordinates I sent you, I’ll drop off my car and keep going from there.”
“Right away sir.” Alfred says and hangs up.
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
The security alarm blared from inside the jewelry store while the one who was sitting on a velvet Victorian chaise was busy looking at the necklaces of geodes and gems.
Black Sparrow puts back the less valuable items in the display case and takes the ones she wants over to the counter. The store owner was cowering behind the register and the woman couldn’t care less about the fear he felt.
“Look, why don’t you be a nice little man and wrap these up for me? Make sure you wrap it up nice, they’re presents for someone special.” She smiles and the owner trembles as he takes the handful of geodes in his hands.
“But, these aren’t worth a lot, why take them?” The man questions.
“I have more important things to answer than that. Still don’t know why you even set the alarm off for, all I did was walk in.” Sparrow shrugs.
“Well, you were wearing that getup and I thought that you were like that Catwoman, thieving about through Gotham.” He stutters. Sparrow hums.
“Oh yes, she is actually very cool, beautiful as well but, she doesn’t necessarily steal, just takes and puts it back. Also I’m not stealing this stuff, I’m buying it from you.” She says.
The manager didn’t know what to say but, diligently grabs the small boxes filled with cushions and places each necklace into them.
Once all twenty boxes were packed and wrapped, Sparrow pulls out a wad of cash and hands over the right amount of money to the man. He carefully takes the money and pushes the three bags across the counter to her.
“Thank you sir, have a great day.” Sparrow offers a smile and walks out of the store. Her bags rustled against her hips as she walked down the street to look over her new purchases.
“Hmm, I’m pretty sure they will like these necklaces.” Sparrow mutters and walks over to a nearby building, climbing up the fire escape ladder.
Once she was at the top of the building, Sparrow runs and jumps over to the next building over and onto the next.
Batman just so happens to see her figure jumping from roof to roof and gets out of the Batmobile.
Sparrow saw the dark knight and put it in the back of her head, she didn’t have time for him right now and thought it best to lose him.
Jumping through a window of an abandoned building, Sparrow made her way down the steps it held and climbs out another window leading to the building she was heading to.
The Gotham Orphanage sat in its wake in the lower banks of the city of Gotham and Sparrow made her way up the stairs to walk through the double doors.
Children were busy playing around the building, some taking turns on the playground that was in the middle of the house and Sparrow puts a hand on her hip.
“Hey, where’s my hello?” She announces and almost all of the children come rushing up to her in excitement.
“Sparrow is back!” One boy yells.
“Welcome back, Sparrow!” A girl exclaims.
Sparrow brings the majority of them into a big hug, and then hugs the rest individually that wasn’t able to get the loving she had plenty to give.
“Hey everyone, look what I got you.” She pulls out the boxes and hands each one to the children. They all gasped and awed at the presents then look up at her.
“Well go on, open them!” She encouraged them and they all scamper into the living area to open their gifts. The necklaces they held up in their hands gleamed in the light and some even placed them around their necks.
“Now, you don’t have to wear them as a necklace if you don’t want to,” Sparrow says and gently takes one of the children’s necklace from them. She shows them how the chain can be shortened and the geode charm was put on, now fancied into a bracelet.
“It can also be a chain to hang on your jeans as well, so it’s very versatile.” Sparrow hands the bracelet back to the girl she demonstrated and she happily put the now bracelet on her wrist.
“Thank you!” They all chimed and run off to go and play.
The head director of the orphanage comes up to Sparrow with a tired smile. She was a middle aged woman with dark grey hair and green eyes.
“Giving them more jewelry again, Sparrow?” She asks and Sparrow shrugs.
“I even got you something Miss. Janis.” Sparrow hands over a small bracelet to the woman who takes it in her right hand.
“Thank you. But you know you need to stop spoiling these children.”
“I’ve always told the kids that they can do what they like with their jewels so it’s no harm in giving them more.” She says. Miss Janis nods but then frowns sadly.
“What’s the matter?”
“Well, it would seem that the kids are handing over their jewelry to me for me to pawn it. The bills are beginning to pile up and I unfortunately don’t have any other options in order to pay for the house to stay running.”
“What? I thought the city was taking care of the expenses?” Sparrow asked, shocked.
“Just the food and clothing but not the property itself. I’m afraid we have another year left before we have to move out.” She said.
“I’ll get the money for you-“
“Sparrow, I don’t want you to worry about that, I’ll figure something out with the other directors. You just keep coming to see these children, they really love you.” She said and came close to hug her. Sparrow squeezed her close and sighed.
“Well get through this my dear, don’t you worry.”
“All I do is worry.” Sparrow pulls away.

Love In The Dark (Fire and Rain)
Batman's neighbors, The Drakes, were secluded billionaires. Bruce invited them on vacation in an attempt to merge the companies. A missile hit the plane, leaving Bruce as the sole survivor and Ra's al Ghul's most promising prodigy to take the place of the young Tim Drake. After years of sidekick training, "Tim" picks up a street rat Jason Todd stealing hubcaps off the Robin Cycle and forms a relationship with him.
~Years Ago~
---Gotham City---
There was a knock on the door, steady and hard.
"Coming!" The owner of the shitty upscale apartment yelled, but it wasn't fast enough for the beggar, so there was another knock, this time louder.
"I said, "Coming!" Give me a minute to get to the door." The door was swung open. "What the hell do you-"
A freshly turned eighteen-year-old stands there, his black suit soaked from the pouring rain. "Missed you at the funeral, Dick." He spoke monotonously as if all the color was drained from the world, and there was nothing but grey.
"Tim."
"Doesn't matter. I missed it too. Didn't even see the body. When I got there, he was putting the shovel into the ground to mark the headstone."
The only person he could confide in wasn't there for him, which hurt him deeply.
"Bruce said it would be better for you if we didn't make a big deal about it."
"And you listened? You know how I feel about Jason. You were my only friend for the longest time, and you knew everything. Things Donna and Garth wouldn't fathom to think about me. The three of us were brothers first, no matter Jason's feelings." He was speechless. His mouth was moving, but no words or sounds came out.
"Tim. I'm sorry-"
"Are you? You've yet to let me in despite the pouring rain and the cold front. You've barely said anything besides your notecards Daddy put together for you. Dick, I went and looked at the cameras. I watched as he dug, dropped Jason's body, covered it, and cried for two hours. He obviously is dealing with it very roughly. So rough that the phone lines are down at the manor, even the emergency line. He sealed off the entrance from the Cave and locked all the gates after I left."
"I'm-"
"STOP SAYING I'M SORRY! Hug me. Ask me if I'm okay. Be Jason's brother. Be MY brother." The young man screamed, surely waking everyone on the floor.
Dick Grayson refused to touch Tim, not only because Bruce told him to, but if he did, he would be no help to his little brother. Dick knew Tim was hurting, but he didn't need the screaming to realize that. Despite his face being covered in rain and his hair drenched, Dick saw the single tear fall out of Tim's eye, and from that, his emotions weren't far behind.
"Fine. Just thought you would be better than him. Guess not. If you need me, fuck off." Tim turned around and headed back onto Gotham's streets.
He landed at the back entrance for the Nest. He inputs his code.
"Invalid entry."
He tries again.
"Invalid entry. Please try again."
He punches the console and makes another attempt.
"Invalid entry."
"Override 01"
"Voice recognition required."
The angry, broken-hearted ex-Robin deepens his voice until it is unrecognizable, nearly a growl, and he speaks. "I'm Batman." The Bat Symbol spins as it loads, and the screen glows green.
"Access granted." The elevator doors open, and he steps in, going to the residential floor.
It was dark. The only light was from the perpetual fireplace in the center of the floor and the illuminated glass placards. Tim walks to the kitchen pulling a glass and the "secret" bottle of whiskey from under the stove. He pours a drink and powers through. Then another. And another. And another. He makes one more drink and saunters back to the living room, and there it is, five sheets of glass, one representing each bird-themed hero. The blue Nightwing, the red "RR", a black spraypainted "R", a blue dove, and a red hawk. It all reminded Tim of what he had lost. Dawn left because she tried to get Hank clean, but he kept sneaking it behind her back. Dawn confronted Dick about the situation. He decided that as long as Hank could adequately do the job, he could stay, so she left. Jason was dead. Hank was probably doing a line of cocaine while shooting himself up with heroin. And it was all because of Dick. If Dick would've helped, they would be one happy bird family. Since he didn't, one was buried on this stormy night, one was knocking on death's door, another was dying a fate worse than death, and the other didn't want anything to do with them.
"Aargh!" The glass went flying across the room. Nightwing's panel was down, and the blue spotlight used to color the glass reflected through the window to the city. Then Tim picked up the bowl of decorative rocks from the coffee table. He and Hank thought they were stupid when they moved in, but Dawn liked them, so Hank changed his tune, and the impressionable Tim did anything to be like the cool kids. Dawn was gone, and so was Dove's panel, the white light untamed. Hank was off his rocker, and his panel soared to the floor in pieces. There was no Robin anymore, so they would have to replace it. Tim just made the contractor's job easier. The shattered glass on the floor was the pride and joy of the Nest just moments ago. When they installed it, Jason wanted to personalize his because he was an outcast. Dick allowed it after explaining why Hank couldn't do his design of a big red penis. On dark nights, you could see the symbols in the night sky. To some, they were symbols of hope. Others, chaos. But if you were looking for that hope tonight, all you would see was some lights and a red "RR" backlit by a gold luminescence.
Tim screamed and cried, breaking the dishware until nothing was left but the one glass and the bottle he had been drinking all night. It was nearing empty, and Tim could barely see straight. That's when he heard the 80s rock coming from down the hall. Tim gulped the rest of the bottle like it was the only thing to keep him going.
He slowly made his way down the hall, tripping and stumbling along the way. His training with Batman prepared him for the most potent Fear Toxin but not the 60-year-old whiskey. He listened to the soft music get louder. Then, Tim drunkenly pushes open the door revealing Hank Hall in a tank top and shorts. He sits on his bed, pulling the rubber band tight with his teeth, getting ready to insert the needle in his arm.
He looks up to see the new adult bracing himself against the doorframe. He releases the tension on the band and drops the needle on the bed. "What the hell are you doing here, kid?"
"Ju-just taking the edge off. You know, doing the fun part of grieving where you drink until you feel like a fish. What's that you got there? A little heroine? What-whats got you down in the dumps? It can't be Jason because the only person who's allowed to grieve him is me. That memo came from the big bat himself, so don't worry, I got it all handled." Tim walks into the room and picks up the needle. "Don't want to accidentally sit on this, so I'll take it off your hands." Tim walks away, heading out of the room. Hank gets up, chasing Tim down the hall and into the lab seeing all the damage passing the living room and kitchen.
"Give me the needle, kid. You're hurt. I get that. What's in that syringe is something stronger than street drugs." Hank tries to talk Tim down as he ties the rubber band around his bicep.
"I'm not a kid anymore." Tim chuckles. "I don't think I've ever been a "kid". Except when I first met you guys, but what kid goes out in the middle of the night on patrol. I was raised to kill. Something like death shouldn't affect me like this."
"Death gets us all. Nobody can run from it."
"That's where you're wrong, Hanky Panky. See, there's this thing called a Lazarus Pit, and the man who raised me... Not the bat fucker but Ra's al Ghul he- he used it to keep himself youthful. He let me use it a few times. Without it, I- I would have never made it to Gotham. But I'm here. Crying like a little girl because my best friend is in the ground when there is a Lazarus Pit under WAYNE FUCKING MANOR!"
"Wait?" Hank starts to think but is too slow for Tim.
"That's right! Bruce could've brought Jason back to life if he wanted."
"Does Dick know?"
"Who cares? He's just going to say some bullshit about Bruce not wanting to make a big deal about-"
"Stay here." Hank runs out of the lab, and Tim twirls the syringe in his hand. He strides over to the computer, and Tim places the contents of the syringe into a vial, taking the vial to the scanner. After waiting a few seconds for the scan, the computer analyzes the particles showing the genetic sequence of the serum.
"Mirakuru. Genetically it looks like Bane Venom or that weird formula Mark Desmond created." Tim researches the serum, articles, database archives, and encrypted files flood the screen. "Mirakuru is a super-soldier serum created by the Japanese during World War II that causes enhanced physical abilities once injected. Use of the serum can risk death or warp the person's mind and personality, driving the subject to insanity, aggression, and hostility." He finished reading. "Sounds like a regular day in Gotham."
Tim takes the vial from the scanner and inserts it into a syringe gun. "Let's warp my mind." Tim injects himself with the serum causing him to convulse for a moment before regaining control of his body.
Tim goes to the Bird House, a room designated for their suits, and takes a pistol from Searcher's suit. Then, he calls the elevator and leaves the building.
Hank ran back to his room, looking for his phone. He finds it and dials the last number he called.
"Dammit, Dick, pick up the phone!" After several forwards to voicemail, he calls another number.
"Hello?"
"Thank fucking God you got service on that damn island."
"Hank? Wha- How did you get my number?"
"That doesn't matter right now. You need to ask for the keys to that invisible jet because Tim is off his fucking rocker."
"Hank, Tim is grieving. We all are. He not only lost Jason, but he lost his team too. Light did a number on all of us. So Tim throwing a tantrum or two is understandable."
"Disbanding the Titans, I get. Drinking his problems away, I get. You didn't see how he wrecked the living room and the kitchen. You didn't see how drunk off his ass he is. He's craving drugs. He has drugs. And you know how anti-drugs he is after the Stephanie Brown situation."
"Where would he get something that would actually affect his body? The street stuff isn't going to cut it."
Hank sighs. "He got it from me."
"Are you serious, Hank? You know what, why did I think any higher of you? Of course, you would call someone else to clean up your mess. Dawn was right about you." The phone call ends.
"Shit."
Hank searches his phone for another number to call, and he hears the elevator's ding. He darts to the Bird House and calls the elevator, but it returns vacant. The undone strap of Pat's holster gives him cause for alarm. Tim hated using guns. He called them a coward's weapon, one of the few things he and Jason actually fought over. Jason had a black eye for a month and was pulled from patrol for insubordination, but Tim snuck him out. Hank runs to the lab seeing a used gun on the table and the screen showing his Mirakuru research. Hank calls Zatanna Zatara a last-ditch effort to stop his friend.
"Zee, I know you can't bring anybody from the dead, but if you could, right now would be the time to do it. Tim is out on the streets and about to do some damage. Not including he injected himself with a super drug. I'm going after him, but please, you're the last person I know who can help him."
"You're right. I can't bring back the dead, but I can give him some comfort. Find Tim and get him alone. I have a plan."
In the dark and damp streets of Gotham, the rain had stopped. Tim wandered in his soaking wet clothes picking fights with anyone he deemed worthy of one. He walked the sidewalk in front of an alleyway where a man held a couple at gunpoint. A shot rang out. The two men stood there in fear holding each other close, shielding their eyes from their horrifying death. After realizing they were unharmed, they opened their eyes. They saw their attacker standing still and a bloodstain growing on his shirt. The man dropped to the ground; the couple looked up and saw Tim's silhouette illuminated by the blinking streetlamp, still holding the gun as if he were waiting for a glamor photo.
The burlier of the men tried to focus his sight on his hero, but Tim was gone. Walking further down the street, Tim is run over by a guy in a red hoodie running down the road. "Hey!" Ignoring the call, the guy continues running. In his anger, Tim chases after him. After running for a few minutes, Tim sees the assailant run into an abandoned building. "Got you now fuck face."
Tim holds the gun tight in his hand and slowly enters. "You forgot to say sorry. You fucking lowlife."
Stalking further into the building, Tim comes to a wall and hears music on the other side. He follows the wall to find a door, and after the count of three, he kicks the door in. It was a barroom, and at the sight of the gun-wielding young man, everyone cleared out. The band leaves their instruments in a hurry to escape the possible gunfire. Tim scans the room looking for the guy he ran down, but he's gone.
"Am I at the seeing things stage?"
Tim walks behind the bar fixing himself another drink.
"If you get to drink, then I want a beer."
Tim lets the words enter one ear and exit the other. "I am definitely hearing things." He pours the whiskey into a glass and fixes himself a bowl of fruit from the fridge under the bar top. A song begins to play on the drums. It was Jason's favorite song from Hank's playlist, a point of contention between the two during parties at The Nest. But this one song was the musical opinion they agreed on.
"Got it bad, got it bad, got it bad. I'm hot for teacher. I've got it bad, so bad. I'm hot for teacher."
It was his voice. It was THE voice. It was Jason's voice. Tim turned around and looked at the poorly lit stage, the lights obscuring the face attached to the drummer's body.
"No. It can't be. Bruce refused to put you in the pit. Zee can't bring back the dead, and Zatara has been missing, so I will ask you this once. Who are you?"
"It's me-"
"Bullshit!" Tim screamed, squeezing the glass so tight it cracked, spilling into his palm. He put the glass down on the bar top, wiping the wasted alcohol on his pants, which were still uncomfortably wet. It was like he took the polar plunge challenge fully clothed and never dried off.
"It's me whether you believe me or not. I'm here to give you closure." The drummer stands.
"Give me the wrong answer, and I'll shoot. How did you die?"
After a few breaths, the voice, who may or may not be Jason, responded. "Joker's girlfriend kidnaped me, and about an hour later, Joker took a crowbar to my face and blew up the building on top of me." There was a slight beat before the gun clip was unloaded on the stage. The drummer jumped down in the nick of time, dodging bullets aimed at him, although sloppily.
"Jace never called Harley the Joker's girlfriend. He either called her Harley or the Queen of Arkham." The guy took a couple steps towards Tim, and now in the light, Tim could see his face. The face that matched the voice. Jason slowly moved toward Tim, the gun aimed at his heart.
"You don't want to do that, Red. Put the gun down. You hate feeling it in your hand. You-"
"Take another step, and I'll shoot!" Tim was so distracted he didn't hear the round of police sirens going off outside.
"Red, calm down. You don't even know if I'm even real. Look at yourself. If I were alive, I would be so pissed. You made a promise to me. Do you remember what it was?"
"I promised to not let you become something you're not. You're not your parents-"
"So, do you think this stunt your pulling is honoring that promise?"
"That was for you, not me."
"And you held me accountable. For everything. Cleaning the bikes, making sure the oil was changed on the BatMobile, and polishing boots, even Dick's from his Robin days. I had protocols in the BatHandbook memorized more than Alfred, and on top of that, I was training, doing chores, out on patrol with Bats, and going to school."
"You think I wasn't doing my fair share of tasks?"
"I know you did. That's why I admire you so much. I never loved you."
Tim's face didn't show it, but he was stabbed in the heart. Was it true? Did Jason never love him? What about at the stadium? That was more of an order. Had Tim been fooling himself all this time? Reaching for something that he would never have. Was love an unachievable goal for an assassin like him? All of these questions and thoughts ran through his head. Suddenly a boom made him flinch as three thugs came into the building, entering the barroom.
"Put the gun down, kid. I don't wanna hurt ya."
The men entered the room. Muscular tough guys, with physiques rivaling Bruce and Hank.
"Are they real?" Jason said out loud, but who he said it to could be brought into question.
In his reckless mind-fogged state, Tim aimed the gun at the mobsters and pulled the trigger. When nothing came out, he grabbed a barstool and swung it against one guy's face breaking it into pieces. Then, Tim took two of the legs and used them as batons. It was a scary and bloody scene. When Tim was done, they weren't breathing.
Outside, more police sirens approach the building. An unmarked vehicle came to a halt. An older man steps out, walking with a cane. Hank turns around, sees the man, and instantly fends him off.
"Commissioner, I know what this looks like, but we-"
"Hall, I have reports of shots fired and a trail of people severely beaten within an inch of their life. Whoever is in there has to pay."
Hank sighs. "How we looking, Zee?"
Zatanna stands facing the door, eyes as bright as the moon and her gloves glowing to match. "Stable on my end."
"Oracle?"
"It's bad, Hank. The cops need medical attention. If it weren't for Zatanna's spell, they would've been dead. You have to keep my dad from going in there." Oracle speaks from Hank's earpiece.
"Commissioner, I need you to hold your men back. We almost have him ready to come out."
"Who's in there? Two-Face? Mad Hatter? Zsasz?"
"I can't tell you at the moment."
"Why?"
"You're not going to like who it is, and I'm not letting your daughter blame me for your blood pressure being higher than Wayne Tower."
"For God's sake Hall, I have people in there, and if they don't come out, I go in."
"I am begging you for ten more minutes. We have everything under control."
Commissioner Gordon sighs, knowing the stakes of keeping his officers in the building. "You have ten. One second more, and I'm pulling the plug."
Back inside, Tim sits the bodies on the wall, having them lean on each other for support, and throws the empty gun on top of them. He turns to Jason. "Now, where were we?"
"The highlights were me saying I never loved you, you threatening me, and questioning whether any of this was real. You're hopped up on Mirakuru and drunk out of your mind. Ooo, what if it's a spell?" Jason says with a slight grin on his face.
"Bringing Jason back is out of Zee's wheelhouse. And there's no one else who can do that."
"She is becoming a master of illusion. She should take that act on the road, like her father. Well, that didn't end too well for him. Hopefully, she can do better. Now that I think about it, Zee never did find Giovanni? She probably would have if she had her team behind her. With all of those Bat resources at your disposal-"
"Bruce looked for him. We all did. It was like he vanished into thin air, but with magic involved, he could be anywhere."
"The tech genius believing in magic isn't that funny. No, what would really be funny is if this was all a dream."
Hearing this, Tim was taken aback. Could this be a dream? When did it start? Was it after the building? Was it when he watched Bruce bury the body? Is he laid out on the floor in the lab with a needle in his arm from the Mirakuru?
"If this is a dream, there's only one way to wake up." Tim takes another wooden stool, smashes it like the first time, and picks up the leg with the sharpest end. He swings it around in his hand for a moment. Tim grips it tightly and proceeds to impale his chest. After a loud response to the pain, he twists the wood beam deeper when another voice enters the room.
"Stop."
Tim looked to the door to see the woman he called his sister dressed in black and red leathery armor.
"Nyssa?"
"Father has requested that you return immediately. Your time in Gotham has expired, and you shall resume your duties with him, Al Layl."
Al Layl was a name that became foreign to Tim, but that's how he knew everything had happened. That the pain he experienced was not something he conjured as a punishment. He looked about the room and saw the bodies he piled together.
"Nyssa, I did-"
"There is no time for apologies. You are an assassin again. Act like it." Nyssa pulls the wood from Al Layl's chest and patches it up for travel.
"Are we done here?"
Nyssa's eyes pivot to Jason. "Yes, we-" A crowd of gangsters floods the room aiming weapons at Al Layl.
"Hands where we can see them."
"Don't shoot! Don't shoot!" Hank runs in after them. "Zee, drop the spell." Then, in a blinding light, the barroom returned to an empty warehouse. The gangsters turned into GCPD cops wearing SWAT gear, including the ones in the corner. Al Layl saw everything for what it was, but one thing stayed the same, Jason was still there looking confused.
"It's okay. You can take it off now!" Hank yelled across the empty space.
Jason scratched at his neck, peeling off his skin to reveal himself. "Nice to meet you, Timothy."
"Christopher Chance, the Human Target."
"In my flesh."
"All this-"
Hank interrupts Al Layl, talking straight to Nyssa. "He needs to get out of here now, or Gordon will arrest him. Jet's waiting on the roof."
Hank, Chris, and the police officers walk out of the building. "Where is he?"
"I told you, Commissioner. We had everything under control." From the corner of Hank's eye, he sees Chris and Zatanna meet Dick Grayson behind one of the tactical trucks. Dick makes eye contact with Hank, and Hank somberly and inaudibly mouths, "Thank you," Dick nods, leaving the crime scene with Zee and Chris following.
"Under control? Explain "under control" to the families that I have to tell that their son or daughter won't come home because they're dead!"
"Whelm yourself, Gordon.."
"You know what? I'm done. Done with you, with Batman and his Robins, the Tit-" Gordon grabs his chest dropping his cane, and his breathing falls short.
"Commissioner?" Hank notices the sweat covering his face and hands. Gordon begins to fall, but Hank moves closer, catching him. "Medic! I need a medic over here!" Hank yells as the paramedics ride away the officers that Al Layl piled up.
"Gordon. Gordon? Say something, Jim." Jim doesn't move. He takes a breath, but when his chest falls, it never rises again.
"Hank, what's going on? Hank, talk to me." Hank heard in his ear, forgetting Oracle was on the other side.
"The Commissioner is down. He's dead, Barbara."

Fics With Titles That Start With G Masterlist
Gaja (ao3) - rustingroses bruce/natasha T, 11k
Summary: The doors to the prison cell slammed open, and a woman in a low-cut scarlet dress that perfectly matched her hair came striding in. Her locks curled around ivory shoulders and a gold necklace, framing a serious face. Her lips, too, matched her hair, drawing the eyes irrevocably to that full mouth, made for sin. Her clear blue-grey eyes glinted even in the dim overhead lighting. Aphrodite wouldn’t have turned her nose up at such a figure or face; if the goddess possessed even a portion of this woman’s beauty and grace, no wonder Paris had given Aphrodite the apple.
Of course, as far as he could recall, no goddess carried a pair of strappy gold heels in one hand and a gun in the other.
Huh, Bruce thought woozily as the Hulk roared with frustration and rage at this new threat. Bruce tightened his grip on the Hulk and the cage of anger that contained it, forcing it to yield to him. Bruce had chosen to be here, and had not chosen lightly. This woman would not wrest his control from him. I didn’t know hallucinations were a side effect of this drug.
Gardens of Asgard (ao3) - a_kinkajou, hermionesmydawg steve/bucky E, 11k
Summary: They were warned numerous times - don't veer off the path in the Gardens of Asgard.
Of course, Steve Rogers heeds the advice of no one. Ever.
gator around the warm beds of beginners (ao3) - napricot sam/bucky E, 39k
Summary: How Sam and Bucky get by, after Thanos is defeated. Or: the story of how two idiots become roommates, partners, friends with benefits, and maybe something more, if they could just stop being so oblivious, while they wait to find out if their Steve’s ever coming back from his trip through time.
Gentlemen Prefer Pink (ao3) - glittercake steve/bucky E, 5k
Summary: Steve considers him for a moment.
“Beg for it.”
Bucky makes a terribly helpless sound, “Steve! Fucksake! Steve, please??”
He grins, stares down at Bucky’s mouth as he says the words. He’s probably a dick for getting off on it, “Nicely.”
ghosts that we knew (ao3) - wilsonsnest sam/bucky T, 46k
Summary: Sam (reluctantly) agrees to do a commission for Steve's rich but extremely reclusive friend, James Barnes.
Sam just stared at the other man, the feeling of being watched suddenly overcoming him. God, what kind of weirdo didn’t even come to greet their guests? It was one thing to be a rich recluse, but another thing to just completely ignore people wandering around your house.
“Steve, this is really weird.” Sam stressed. “This isn’t weird to you?”
Gift of Asylum (ao3) - carleton97, sister_wolf clint/darcy E, 47k
Summary: The story of how Darcy Lewis accidentally helps found the Avengers while having an epic, failboaty romance with that dude she nailed in a bar two years ago. Tasers, jackbooted thugs, Tony Stark, and life-altering job offers are par for the course when you help discover an alien/god dude with amazing pecs.
Glow (ao3) - glittercake sam/bucky E, 3k
Summary: Sam showers Bucky with compliments and ridiculous nicknames. It's not Bucky's fault that he starts falling for the guy.
Go And Make Aunt Peggy Proud (ao3) - Nanerich pepper/tony, steve/bucky, mj/peter, peggy/husband T, 19k
Summary: When Howard screws around with one of Hank Pym’s quantum theories, things go south, quickly and that in a way Peggy did not imagine in her wildest dreams: they end up in the year 2019. Luckily, a vigilante in a bright red, skintight spidersuit can help them out and take Peggy and Howard to who will be able to help them out.
Go For The Throat (ao3) - laylabinx T, 9k
Summary: Peter finds out the hard way what it means to be the Ravager mascot and Yondu uses this as an opportunity to teach him how to kick someone's ass.
Going Yard (ao3) - Brenda steve/bucky E, 41k
Summary: Going Yard: Baseball vernacular for hitting a home run.
This is the love story of shortstop Steve Rogers and pitcher Bucky Barnes, estranged childhood best friends about to be reunited on the same team.
This is a love story about New York's other baseball team, the Avengers, and their quest to claim the National League East division title.
This is a love story about going home and new friends and team bonding and first loves and how the people you're the closest to can also drive you the craziest.
But mostly, this is a love story about baseball and the boys of summer who play it.
gonna marry that boy (ao3) - haveufoundwhaturlookingfor clint/tony G, 6k
Summary: Clint runs a coffee shop with his best friend Natasha, and he has a crush on one of the customer's, but he's never actually talked to this boy. He's awkward enough as it is, and things get even more difficult once he learns who the customer is.
Good Things Come to Those Who Look (ao3) - notbeloved07 bruce/tony T, 5k
Summary: Back when Tony was at MIT and Bruce at Harvard, at some point they met--science convention, bar night, what have you--and had an instant connection. Bruce let it go, in part because he was focused on Betty, but Tony didn't have a whole lot of moments where he'd felt actual genuine connections and he held on to that encounter.
Now, after Afghanistan, Tony realises just how important those connections are and he tries to find Bruce. When he stumbles on to him in Shield's files, he talks Fury into putting Hulk on the Avengers roster, brings him in, and desperately tries to balance world-saving with hardcore flirting and coming up with ways to get Bruce to stay.
Got a Heart in Me, I Swear (ao3) - thepartyresponsible bucky/clint, steve/tony M, 36k
Summary: The pictures leak on a lazy off-season Sunday, in that muddled bit of midafternoon Clint never knows what to do with when he isn’t training. He curls up with Lucky on the couch and naps through the end of his whole damn life. And that, honestly, is pretty much perfect.
got the waves running through your thighs (ao3) - bisamwilson sam/bucky E, 2k
Summary: The first drink he’d ordered upon landing on the island was, in fact, a sex on the beach, just for the novelty of it all. Peach schnapps had never been his favorite—a fact which had thoroughly confused everyone from the time he’d started to drink—but it was the principle of the thing.
He’s drinking a piña colada now, much more to his taste, and enjoying the feeling of the sun on his skin and the sand between his toes, trying his best to not feel annoyed at how much reading Bucky saw fit to do on this vacation.
Apparently, he’d really thought she’d meant a drink.
Got to Do What You Love (ao3) - BlackEyedGirl clint/phil M, 8k
Summary: Phil has control issues, Clint has power issues, and the Avengers are a bundle of issues. It’s no wonder Maria wants nothing to do with them. Phil doesn’t seem to have a choice.
gotta make me follow through (gotta make me chase it) (ao3) - aniloquent sam/bucky N/R, 5k
Summary: The one where Sam's a hot vegan grocer and Bucky lies to get him to go out with him.
Great Unknown. (ao3) - ClaraxBarton bucky/clint T, 3k
Summary: Smugglers and dragons and karaoke and space. Oh my.
That’s it. That’s the summary. Enjoy or suffer at your will.
Ground Control to Major Tom (ao3) - Ellen Fitzwilliam Brandybuck (AFixerMuse) drax/mantis M, 39k
Summary: Waking from a centuries-long cryogenic sleep, alternate Earth astronaut Major Tommiah Jones finds herself among space pirates, in a world and time apart from her reality. Now she must do what's necessary to survive, find purpose, and perhaps avoid falling in love with trouble incarnate: Yondu Udonta. Song prompted one-shots. Humorous smut
Grow To Be (ao3) - Sororising sam/bucky T, 110k
Summary: Sam flops back down onto the bed, shoving a few of the pillows behind his head and upper back - there’s way too many for one bed; if you multiply that by thirty bedrooms there must be -
“I can’t do math when I’m drunk,” he says mournfully. “Bucky, come here and help me do math.”
Bucky lets out a small laugh. “Bet you say that to all the girls.”
Sam doesn’t know how to unpick that sentence. He isn’t even going to bother trying; he just waves his arm around in Bucky’s general direction, hoping that he’ll make contact eventually.
Grumpy Coffee Kitten (ao3) - rebelmeg harley/shuri, mj/peter, bucky/darcy, clint/natasha T, 26k
Summary: When Clint Barton, the owner of Bean There, Brew That, takes off on an extended vacation, he leaves his coffee shop in the hands of his trusted sidekick, Darcy Lewis. Darcy is not prepared for this, but that's not going to stop her from keeping the shop going, keeping her sassy baristas in line, and maybe getting a tiny bit smitten with the new regular that started showing up, looking like a sleepy assassin and cooing at his coffee.
Bucky Barnes is a former soldier trying to deal with the effects of PTSD, at the encouragement of his best friend and not-actually-a-therapist Sam Wilson. It might have been sort of an accident the first time he steps into Bean There, Brew That, but it's a first step in a really good direction. He likes the coffee shop, he likes the people that run it, and he definitely likes the sugar-soaked monstrosities that they make for him on a daily basis.
What could possibly go wrong with putting a recovering veteran in the hands of a bunch of sarcastic baristas with access to legally addictive stimulants? The answer is... not much, actually.

Spider-Man Read-Through BONUS: Marvel Team-Up 3 (#80-129)
MASTERPOST
Continuing the same concept as the first post, that is, a quick catch-up to not miss anything regarding Peter's social life.
In #80, Peter has a date with Cissy, they get attacked by a werewolf, then Peter gets a tarot reading and says Dr Strange "looks fine" by daylight, further cementing his bisexuality, and then after shenanigans, Satana, the devil's daughter arrives at Strange's house.
Folks, this on the level of "Dispayre", hahaha.
In #81, Strange is saved. Yes, he was in danger. No, I can't explain.
In #82, Spidey finds a possibly amnesiac Black Window and without warning...
I love checking out these comics and just see stuff like that. Yeah. Sure. Alright hahahahhahahahaha
Anyway, Nick Fury shoots at her and Peter.
In #83, Peter is absolutely gorgeous.
In #84, things are wild. In #85, Black Window finally gets her memory back and while her amnesiac self had feelings for Peter, this one doesn't.
#86 has the Guardians of the Galaxy. #87 whumps slightly Peter and makes him fight Black Panther and we see Gamelin and Walter, who become relevant a bit later I think. (I remember Walter because he's gorgeous. I'm not even sure I recognize the right character but whatever. I remember the name Gamelin though, but I'm not sure what his point is.)
In #88, Peter takes pictures of Sue Storm and takes the train. In #90, Spidey and Nightcrawler team up against a fake Spider-Man. In #91, Peter's still dating Cissy, "a science major" (wow, such development), but she prefers Beast (very understandable), who Peter gets jealous about (confirming once more his bisexuality), and a guy has a sick suit.
I need the same one.
In Annual 3, Peter's with Glory at an amusement park in Connecticut, which made me Google where it was. Also, Ghost Rider is there.
#92 doesn't matter. In #93, someone slays.
Peter is also very cute.
In #94, Peter has a nice outfit.
In #95, Spidey fights Mockingbird. In #96, Howard the Duck has a really bad time on Earth. #97 doesn't matter. In #98, Spidey and Black Widow team up again. In #99, Peter's still gorgeous.
Actually...
Who is this artist who draws suits so well?
Alright, alright.
In #100, there's a lot of action. In Annual 4, arms.
#101 is uninteresting.
#102 is already more involving, see below.
He also discovers that food at expensive restaurants is expensive. Yes, even the coke.
In #103, there's a teddy bear!
That is not an appropriate outfit in front of your daughter, sir.
homosexuality.
#104 and 105 don't feature Peter. In #106, Peter meets Steve Rogers!
I talked about #107 in another post, it has She-Hulk. In #108 and #109, Spidey fights Paladin, who has very flamboyant hair. In #110, Spidey teams up with Iron Man. In the next issues, we see Dazzler, the Lightmaster...
In #115, Peter roleplays Grey's Anatomy when a hideous creatures arrives.
Peter also has a crisis of faith. It happens.
In #118, Professor X most likely knows Spidey's secret identity.
In #120, May forces Peter to sing in front of a dozen of old people so they can make fun of him. In #121, we have...
homosexuality.
And a dapper man.
In #124, Peter keeps getting bullied by geriatrics.
This is adorable.
Annual 6 gives very important lore.
In #126, Peter and Bruce Banner are besties.
homosexuality.
In #127, I love seeing Peter getting bullied by seniors.
Oh, I can guard Peter's rear...
This is actually a really nice tale. The Watcher wants to bring a granddaughter back to her grandfather, and enlists Peter's help.
"Finis" is even worse, but go off I guess!
In #128, Peter apparently has new friends, Roger Hochberg and Mia Carrera, who're maybe dating, it's not too clear. He also sees Steve Rogers again.
Girl what the heck.
Black Cat's in the hospital, Peter. Because Doc Ock almost killed her. And it's very clear that you're in love with her. What are you doing?
(He's poly, he's poly, he's poly! I need to write a poly fic, don't I?)
In #129, we see Einstein.
(He's actually a clone of Mark Twain. Sure.)

@everythingheard (for bruce from rachel)
it had been so much easier to see things in absolutes before aliens rained from the sky and the man she had thought she loved turned upon everything he stood for and been consumed with villainy. locked in a jail cell among the very people he’d put inside. she had been so idealistic and young when bruce had returned, so sure of right and wrong and the need to live in the light. she couldn’t reconcile the boy she’d run around the manor with with the dark knight that had drug his sister into a life in the shadows. (though, even rachel at her core could admit there was no talking kara into anything, she’d made her own choice and that choice just so happened to line up with her brother’s path.) with the man who’d become hardened and brutal in his quest to strike fear into the city’s underbelly. fear. fear couldn’t solve the cities’ problems. but harvey’s quest, standing up to criminals in the light of day, had purpose, had potential. she had immersed herself within it and existed behind a vault of blindness. not that she still did not believe in the quest, but, her eyes had been awoken to a very many shades of grey since those days.
zod had attacked their world and powered people escaped the shadows. jokers reigned terror and bruce had led gotham through floods. him and kara had become symbols not of fear but of hope and rachel had seen what she had not allowed herself to before. bruce had evolved, grown, but the bruce that tugged on her hair to get her attention when they were young was still a part of him. she could see it in his quest to repair his family’s name. in the way he took dick grayson in as his own. in his conviction to aid in reforms at arkham and help rehabilitate those who resided within it’s walls. yes a part of him could be brutal but he still held hope for those he fought. she could see it in the way that he worried about a sister who proved fully capable of protecting herself. she could see it in the way he had sat at alfred's side in the hospital after the explosion. and now, in the wake of harvey’s trial and superman’s death with forces beyond their comprehension just past the horizon rachel finally comes to him at the manor, sharing a look with alfred before she’s making her way to the room bruce is in. alfred had told her when bruce, dick, and kara had returned from superman’s funeral.
this world was not the one they’d grown up in and it’s a wonder how anyone was coping in the wake of what had transpired in metropolis. footfalls echo throughout the room, rachel coming to a stop just inside the doorway before shutting the door. all their moments in recent history have been so fully charged with chaos and tension, with her in danger from an alien battle or flooding waters, with two friends sitting in a hospital with alfred’s life in the balance, with her kidnapped and strapped to a bomb that kara had very nearly failed to protect her from that they’ve never had time to truly sort out where they stood. maybe she hadn’t been ready yet. she was now. yet what that would look like she wasn’t sure.
“i want you to teach me to fight. self-defense.” she begins, unsure why that’s the first item on the agenda she broches. “not that it’ll help me if we have another alien invasion. god, i still can’t believe i’m even saying that. aliens. metahumans. and now superman’s gone.” there’s a pause as she allows the weight of that statement to linger. she hadn’t known superman but rachel had always been close with kara and she knew the impact his death had on her, and, she knew bruce felt the loss too.
“--but if i’m going to be the new district attorney and connected to bruce wayne i think i ought to be able to at least prevent my own kidnapping.” she never wants to feel as powerless as she felt when crane had drugged her or when she’d been in that warehouse with bombs around her again. another step is taken forward, followed by another until she’s nearly reached him-- standing just a mere foot away from him. they haven’t spent any significant time together in so long, haven’t been this close to each other even when he’d used his limo to save her from press after harvey’s sentencing because lex had been there with him too.
a part of her wants to reach out though she doesn’t, not yet. maybe she’s waiting for him to meet her half-way. for them, in the wake of everything, to make this choice together. “of course, that’ll mean i’ll be spending a fair amount of my free time here, with you, when you’re not out there.” she motions outside the window. there’s a weight to what she says, words unspoken between the lines but implication clear. she’s taking the first step, making a choice to accept being in his life again and all that entailed.

The Necromancer[Part 2]
(This probably has grammatical/Spelling errors)
Background:Check part 1 for the story so far in better detail (made it more gender neutral)
Summray of Part 1:
Y/N was shocked to find out that Tony,Yes,THE Tony Stark, was outside their house,What, could he want with a teenager?Unless....It was about their magic?
Warning:Slight threat(?),Mentions of blood,Fighting,cussing,and I think that's it!
You chuckled nervously,rubbing your hands
"Uhh,What magic?" Despite your growing fear and shock, you hid it pretty well,Tony dramatically rolling his eyes
"Oh,Don't play dumb" he said only now looking up from his phone,The glow still lighting up his face
"Fine." you muttered, feeling embarrassed,You knew it was no point denying it,Tony rolled his eyes dramatically again,It was now getting on your nerves
"Welp" he began to say,"I spoke with your mother",you quickly looked down at the grey stone path which ran through your jungle of a garden,It was made up of weeds sprouting through any and all cracks, itchy overgrown grass and tangles of bushes and trees,A real eyesore
"surprised she talked to you" you muttered quietly
"Congrats!"This confused you beyond belief "oh" he chuckled "Your mother gave you permission to join the avengers" you looked confused and tilted your head "Basically a team of heros made to stop a power hungry god" he said noticing your obvious confusion
"Um" you didn't know what to say to this "That's great,But" but Tony interrupted
"Great!Lets go" he turned his back to you and beckoned you to follow him to the black car infront of him, before you knew what you were doing, you were rushing through you garden, and stopped infront of the cars open door,Tony sat on the seat furthest away,Still looking at his phone
"But" you said clutching your bags strap,Causing Stark to look up at you,Which you didn't expect "i have terms"You said tried to sound confident as you cleared your throats
"And those are?" Tony said looking back down at his phone,You cleared your throat again to shear nervousness
"1.You tell nobody about my magic.2.I operate under my free will,3."you paused trying to think of another reason"yeah,That's it"you chuckled embarrassedly,You placed your bag onto the cars floors and stepped in,It was nice smelling, like at brand new car,Even though it probably wasn't,You closed the door and picked up the leather seat belt and plugged it into the small slot and placed your arms onto the cars window and rested your head onto your crossed arms and gazed out the window as you passed your school as you saw the teachers rushing the kids into the school and to classes,You closed your eyes gently
----
You pushed a metal door handle, into what you assumed was a control room,Keeping close behind Tony,There was a red head,A man in a purple button down shirt,A blonde with long hair and odd clothes,Another blonde with a brown leather jacket who looked familiar,That's when it hit you,It was Captain American,You brushed that off quickly,A man with one eye and a long leather jacket and a matching eye patch,You hadn't realised how long you'd be stood there
"Hello?" Captain Americans voice shocked you back
"Pardon?"You replied awkwardly,Captain scoffed
"Aren't you a little too young to be here"he said
"Bit too old to be a virgin"you replied in a defensive tone quickly crossing your arms,Tony chuckled
"i knew he liked yo-" he attempted to pat your shoulder, but you grabbed his hand before you could and twisted it back and put it in a position where you could break it
"Touch me and your arm won't work for a while"Then you let go of it and tony rubbed his shoulder in pain, you didn't hurt him but your grip was tight,You sighed and smiled "I'm Y/N" you glanced around
"I'm Natasha,Or Nat"The red head had replied and you looked at her "That's Dr Bruce Banner"she continued and you followed her glance towards the man in purple "That's-" she looked at Steve
"Steve Rodgers,Captain America"you answered quickly,Nat smiled
"You know you're stuff don't"you?"she chuckled amused "The blonde with long hair is-"
"Thor Odinson,God of Thunder" you nodded your head
"And one eye is?" you asked
"Director Nick Fury"He answered nodding his head
"Director Fury" came a voice from one of the computers "We've got a lock on Loki"

Mr. Bruce Wayne
Summary: An orphan all her life, Y/N is simply too old to remain at The Bowery Home any longer. That is where an anonymous patron has swooped in to send her off to college and all he requires…a monthly letter of her academic progress.
Based off the book and musical “Daddy Long Legs”
Pairing: Bruce Wayne x Reader
last part // series masterlist // next part
27th May
Bat man, Esq.
Dear Sir: I am in receipt of a letter from Mother Waller. She hopes that I am doing well in deportment and studies. Since I probably have no place to go this summer, she will let me come back to the asylum and work for my board until college opens. I HATE THE BOWERY HOME.
I'd rather die than go back.
Yours most truthfully,
Y/N Abbott
Cher homme chauve-souris(French for Batman),
Vous etes un brick!
Je suis tres heureuse d'about the farm, parsque je n'ai jamais been on a farm dans ma vie and I'd hate to retourner chez The Bowery, et wash dishes tout l'été. There would be danger of quelque chose affreuse happening, parceque j'ai perdue ma humilité d'autre fois et j'ai peur that I would just break out quelque jour et smash every cup and saucer dans la maison. Pardon brievete et paper. Je ne peux pas send des mes nouvelles parceque je suis dans French class et j'ai peur que Monsieur le Professeur is going to call on me tout de suite.
He did!
Au revoir, je vous aime beaucoup.
Y/N
Bruce was at his desk and he was laboring over the blank sheet of paper. Similar pieces were littered across his desk and all of them a similar message, and yet, sounding wrong each time.
Dear Miss Abbot,
I put pen to paper with some trepidation but with the feeling after your last letter that I really do owe you some sort of response…
With that, another piece of paper was crumpled and tossed away. Throwing himself back against his chair, Bruce groaned, “How does one say, I want to write you back, but I don't know what to say? How can I explain that I'm not really old? That I am not at all the man you have imagined and I am definitely not the one you expect?” Getting up from the desk, Bruce began to pace and gesture wildly, “Of course, I write in contravention of my own rules of engagement which forbid any sort of communication from me. But last month, I was guilty of sending you a bouquet of flowers, so perhaps the damage is already done. It's getting very hard to abstain from a response, especially as a man who loves to correspond. I am longing to interject my observations and bursting with opinions and advice.”
Clark and Alfred were sitting on the couch, watching as Bruce had a prolonged temper tantrum. The former turned to Alfred, “Do you think he remembers we are still here?”
The grey-haired man laughed, “The world may never know, Master Kent.”
“How many letters is he at now?”
“He’s started 23. He’s managed to complete 0.”
Clark hid his laughter in his coffee, “Maybe he should just give up on writing a letter and just show up.”
Bruce whirled around and pointed at his friend, “Clark, that may not be a bad idea.”
“Oh, so you do know that we are in the room.” Clark pushed off the couch and pushed Bruce into one of the chairs, “I know you’re losing it now, because you have never thought my ideas were good.”
“No, this will work! I will drive up to the college one of these afternoons and introduce myself. I may not be ideal, but I should be able to manage. Although, I'm not good at friendship–as you know–I'm not good at attachment, or family, or commitment. I roundly despise my relations but she’s met Harriet, so she will understand. After all, my uncle is the reason for my low expectations.
Alfred stepped in to offer some advice, “Perhaps, it isn't wise to reveal yourself just yet. Why not meet Miss Abbott first as the man you really are? Why not introduce yourself as Harriet’s relation?”
“Because, it’s insane!” Clark couldn’t believe what he was hearing, “You’re going to meet your sponsee and hide your true identity all because you can’t manage to write a letter?”
“Yes!”
Clark ran a hand through his hand and turned to Alfred, “Surely you can see that this is madness.”
“Of course, but you are the one who planted the idea. Now, you will have to deal with the consequences.” The older man walked out of the study with a grin on his face.
30th May
Dear Batman,
Did you ever see this campus? (That is merely a rhetorical question. Don't let it annoy you.) It is a heavenly spot in May. All the shrubs are in blossom and the trees are the loveliest young green—even the old pines look fresh and new. The grass is dotted with yellow dandelions and hundreds of girls in blue and white and pink dresses. Everybody is joyous and care-free, for vacation's coming, and with that to look forward to, examinations don't count.
Isn't that a happy frame of mind to be in? And oh, I'm the happiest of all! Because I'm not in the orphanage anymore; and I'm not anybody's nursemaid or typewriter or bookkeeper (I should have been, you know, except for you).
I'm sorry now for all my past badnesses.
I'm sorry I was ever impertinent to Mother Waller.
I'm sorry I ever slapped Freddie Perkins.
I'm sorry I ever filled the sugar bowl with salt.
I'm sorry I ever made faces behind the Trustees' backs.
I'm going to be good and sweet and kind to everybody because I'm so happy. And this summer I'm going to write and write and write and begin to be a great author. Isn't that an exalted stand to take? Oh, I'm developing a beautiful character! It droops a bit under cold and frost, but it does grow fast when the sun shines. That's the way with everybody. I don't agree with the theory that adversity and sorrow and disappointment develop moral strength. The happy people are the ones who are bubbling over with kindliness. I have no faith in misanthropes. (Fine word! Just learned it.) You are not a misanthrope are you? I started to tell you about the campus. I wish you'd come for a little visit and let me walk you about and say:
‘That is the library. This is the gas plant. The Gothic building on your left is the gymnasium, and the Tudor Romanesque beside it is the new infirmary.'
Oh, I'm fine at showing people about. I've done it all my life at the Bowery Home, and I’ve been doing it all day here. I have honestly. And a Man, too! That's a great experience. I never talked to a man before (except occasional Trustees, and they don't count). Pardon, Batman, I don't mean to hurt your feelings when I abuse Trustees. I don't consider that you really belong among them. You just tumbled on to the Board by chance. The Trustee, as such, is fat and pompous and benevolent. He pats one on the head and wears a gold watch chain. However—to resume:
I have been walking and talking and having tea with a man. And with a very superior man—with Mr. Bruce Wayne of one of the first Houses of Gotham. Harriet’s cousin, in short (in long, perhaps I ought to say; he's as tall as you.) She tells me that he is the last of his family. The Wayne family is one of the founding families of Gotham. He's her father’s sister’s son, but she doesn't know him very intimately. Mr. Wayne’s mother was Harriet’s aunt. You’ll notice my use of the past term. Harriet informs me that Mr. Wayne’s family was killed when he was a child.
I have always thought that my situation was a sad one, and yet, I find my heart breaking for Mr. Wayne. While I have no memories of my parents, he has eight years of knowing how much his parents loved him. Knowing what could have been seems more heartbreaking than not knowing at all. I can at least pretend that my parents were horrible and mean, or they died and there was no one else to take me.
Sadness aside…being in town on business, he decided to run out to the college and call on Harriet. It seems he glanced at her when she was a baby, decided he didn't like her, and has never noticed her since. I can’t say I disagree with him. Anyway, there he was, sitting in the reception room very proper with his hat and stick and gloves beside him; and Harriet and Barb with seventh-hour recitations that they couldn't cut. So Harriet dashed into my room and begged me to walk him about the campus and then deliver him to her when the seventh hour was over. I said I would, obligingly but unenthusiastically, because I didn’t think I would care much for those related to the Kanes. But he turned out to be a sweet lamb.
He's a real human being—not a Kane at all. We had a beautiful time; I've longed for an uncle ever since. Do you mind pretending you're my uncle? I believe they're superior to grandmothers. Mr. Wayne reminded me a little of you, Batman, as you were twenty years ago. You see I know you intimately, even if we haven't ever met! He's tall and thinnish, tired eyes, and the funniest underneath smile that never quite comes through but just wrinkles up the corners of his mouth. For someone who looks so uninterested in the world, he had a way of making me feel right off as though I’d known him a long time. He's very companionable. We walked all over the campus from the quadrangle to the athletic grounds; then he said he felt weak and must have some tea. He proposed that we go to College Inn—it's just off the campus by the pine walk. I said we ought to go back for Harriet and Barbara, but he said he didn't like to have his cousins drink too much tea; it made them nervous. So, we just ran away and had tea and muffins and marmalade and ice-cream and cake at a nice little table out on the balcony. The inn was quite conveniently empty, this being the end of the month and allowances low.
We had the jolliest time! But he had to run for his train the minute he got back and he barely saw Harriett at all. She was furious with me for taking him off; it seems he's an unusually rich and desirable uncle. It relieved my mind to find he was rich, for the tea and things cost sixty cents apiece. This morning (it's Monday now) three boxes of chocolates came by express for Harriet and Barbara and me. What do you think of that? To be getting candy from a man!
I begin to feel like a girl instead of a foundling. I wish you'd come and have tea some day and let me see if I like you. But wouldn't it be dreadful if I didn't? However, I know I should. Bien! I make you my compliments.
'Jamais je ne t'oublierai.'
Y/N
PS. I looked in the glass this morning and found a perfectly new dimple that I'd never seen before. It's very curious. Where do you suppose it came from?
Lois raised an eyebrow, “You felt weak and needed tea? You hate tea.”
Bruce refused to look up from his meal. “We walked a lot.”
“You walked a lot and felt weak?”
Bruce finally set down his utensils and rested his chin on his folded hands, looking annoyed, “Are you going to rehash every detail of the letter?”
Clark laughed, “She’s just focusing on the most amusing bits. You had tea with your sponsee while hiding your true identity. Claiming weakness, even though you are in perfect health and didn’t even visit Harriet. Oh, and let’s not forget you sent her chocolates.”
“I sent all of them chocolates.”
Lois smiled knowingly, “Only because you couldn’t send them just to her without raising suspicion.”
“Why did I agree to dinner with the two of you?”
Clark shrugged, “We are the only ones you have to talk to about this.”
“How sad for me.”
9th June
Dear Batman,
Happy day! I've just finished my last examination in Physiology. And now: Three months on a farm!
I don't know what kind of a thing a farm is. I've never been on one in my life. I've never even looked at one (except from the car window), but I know I'm going to love it, and I'm going to love being free. I am not used even yet to being outside the Bowery Home. Whenever I think of it, excited little thrills chase up and down my back. I feel as though I must run faster and faster and keep looking over my shoulder to make sure that Mother Waller isn't after me with her arm stretched out to grab me back. I don't have to mind anyone this summer, do I?
Your nominal authority doesn't annoy me in the least; you are too far away to do any harm. Mother Waller is dead forever, so far as I am concerned, and the Kents aren't expected to overlook my moral welfare, are they?”
No, I am sure not. I am entirely grown up. Hooray! I leave you now to pack a trunk, and three boxes of tea kettles and dishes and sofa cushions and books.
Yours ever,
Y/N
PS. Here is my physiology exam. Do you think you could have passed?

Even if you choose not to write this, thanks for creating Father of Mine, it's one of my favorite fics!
Father of Mine
48. Using your body to shield them from attack.
31. Hurriedly checking for their pulse.
30. Performing CPR when they stop breathing.
Jason and Y/N were walking along the water after getting dinner.
Most of the harbors in Gotham were run by one crime lord or another. Which meant that there were very few areas on the water for civilians to enjoy – or feel safe.
But Jason knew of a strip that was under the radar.
There were a few other couples with the same idea. And random groups of kids and teenagers hanging out and messing around.
Jason was relaxed.
That was his first mistake.
Jason had immediately clocked a random middle-aged man who was covered in sweat and was visibly trembling.
Being far too familiar with the sight, Jason assumed the guy was another unfortunate addict.
But then he noticed the man was carrying a backpack.
Jason had all of 5 seconds to realize what was about to happen.
He shielded Y/N with his body while screaming as loud as he could, “Get down!”
Jason knew he couldn’t save everyone, and Y/N would always be his number one priority.
The next second, the bomb exploded.
The impact knocked Jason unconscious.
For how long, he had no idea.
He was disoriented from the explosion, his ears ringing from tinnitus and his vision struggling to focus from the vertigo. Yet, somehow he could still hear the beating of his heart in his eardrums.
People were screaming in pain around him and others were crying as they looked down at their loved ones. Half the harbor was on fire from the explosion. Cement and debris was everywhere. Jason’s hair was grey from it.
He blinked and then panicked.
“Y/N!” Jason screamed when he realized she wasn’t anywhere near him.
He jumped to his feet and whipped around in every direction looking for her.
“Y/N!” He screamed even louder, his throat burning from the effort.
Then he realized when the explosion when off they had been standing next to the railing that blocked off the water. The railing that had now been blasted away and into the harbor.
Jason sprinted to the edge and looked down at the black water below.
Without hesitation, he dove into the depths.
It was almost impossible to see anything.
But just seconds later, he found Y/N unconscious and completely submerged.
Jason had never swam faster in his life.
But when they breached, Y/N didn’t gasp for air.
She was completely unconscious.
Jason’s eyes darted around, trying to find their escape.
By some miracle, there was a rusty ladder that led back up to the pier from the water.
Jason put Y/N’s body over his shoulder as he climbed the ladder, silently praying that the metal didn’t break under their combined weight.
When they reached the top, he gently laid her down and his fingers shot to the pulse point at her neck.
Nothing.
“No, no, no,” Jason mumbled. “Y/N. Come on, baby. You’re not doing this to me.”
He found his Red Hood comm in the pocket of his jacket, and put it to his hear.
“Contact Bruce,” he commanded the AI as he started performing CPR on Y/N.
“What is it?” Bruce answered with slight panic.
Jason had never called him like this before. And therefore Bruce knew immediately something terrible happened.
“Get the fucking jet here right now,” Jason growled.
“What’s happened?” Bruce asked, but it was obvious he was moving around already to leave.
“There was an explosion. She doesn’t have a pulse and she’s not breathing,” it was all Jason was capable of giving him. “Just get the fucking jet here now!”
He didn’t have time to explain more and hung up. And he didn’t have to say Y/N’s name for Bruce know who he was talking about. There was only one woman in Jason’s life that would have him sounding so panicked and desperate.
Jason continued his CPR, fully focused now that he knew Bruce was on the way.
Still nothing.
He did another round of compressions.
Jason’s eyes started watery as his mind began to believe that Y/N wasn’t going to make it.
He wouldn’t survive.
Y/N had changed his life. She made him better, made him good, made him want to worker harder – do literally anything to become the man she deserved and to continue to be deserving of her love.
“Please,” Jason whimpered. “Please don’t leave me.”
But then Y/N’s eyes shot open and she immediately turned over and started coughing up water.
“Holy fuck,” Jason gasped in relief at the sight.
Y/N continued coughing until her throat was scratched and dry.
Jason rubbed her back, trying to comfort her without preventing her body from getting all the water out of her lungs.
After she finished, she was shaking from being freezing cold and from the shock.
Despite him also being wet, Jason put his coat over her shoulders.
“Don’t ever fucking do that to me again,” Jason begged Y/N as he pulled her into his arms.
He kissed the crown of her head and hoped his body heat would be enough to warm her up.
“What happened?” Her voice had never been raspier and it was now quivering.
“A bomb went off. I thought I shielded you from it, but the impact must’ve thrown you into the harbor.”
“I’m OK,” she tried to tell him. But her shaking voice was unconvincing.
Jason wasn’t letting go of her anytime soon.
It was only 5 minutes later that the batplane touched down on what remained of the pier.
Jason looked up to see Dick, Tim, and Damian jump out and immediately start helping the injured.
But Bruce, dressed in his Batman uniform, was walking straight to Jason and Y/N.
“She needs to go to a hospital,” Jason called out when Bruce was a few yards away. “Her heart stopped beating and her lungs took in too much water.”
Jason knew Bruce wouldn’t argue with taking Y/N there immediately.
Bruce was clearly relieved at seeing his daughter alive and conscious. But that didn’t mean she was in the clear. Nearly drowning still had its risks. If her heart stopped beating, she was in danger of brain damage or pneumonia.
“I’ll take her. You help the others,” Bruce ordered as he stepped forward to take Y/N from Jason’s arms.
“Like fucking hell I am,” Jason growled as he stood up with Y/N in his arms.
Bruce was about to fight him on it, but then he met Y/N’s eyes. Her skin was pale and almost had a blue tint to it. She looked so small and vulnerable in Jason’s arms. Not like the strong and grown woman that had first strutted into Wayne Manor.
“I’m not leaving her,” Jason added for good measure.
Bruce finally sighed and nodded. “Take the jet. You know where to go. I’ll meet you there.”
Before Jason could carry her away, Y/N whispered, “What about the others?”
Her eyes tried to look around her boyfriend’s broad shoulders to see the other victims.
“B is going to help them,” Jason gently told her. He even angled his body to block her line of sight. She didn’t need to see any of it.
“We already have ambulance and firemen on the way,” Bruce added, hoping it would convince her further not to worry herself.
There was nothing she could do for them anyway.
Then Bruce locked eyes with Jason. “Go. Get out of here. Take care of her.”
“Always,” Jason muttered quickly before hurrying Y/N to the jet.
————————
Y/N woke up to two low voices clearly having a serious discussion, but trying to keep their voices down.
When she opened her eyes, Y/N realized she was in a hospital room. But it wasn’t just any room. It seemed like a five-star hotel with how fancy it was. It didn’t have that sterile smell or those harsh fluorescent lights that caused headaches.
“It was a turf war,” Bruce told Jason quietly. “Carmine has jurisdiction over the harbor the two of you were at tonight. But Farrelli wanted it for himself. He forced his latest victim to bring the bomb.”
Jason crossed his arms. “So, the guy was dead either way, Farrelli just thought he’d put him to some use before he murdered him.”
Bruce nodded. “And kill five more people with him.”
“Five people died?” Y/N burst out without realizing it.
Both men’s heads whipped in her direction.
“You’re awake,” Jason sighed and immediately rushed to her side.
“What hospital am I at?” She mumbled, looking around again.
“Gotham General,” he told her as he sat on the edge of the bed to face her.
Jason gently grabbed her hand and kissed the back of it. But he had no intention of letting it go, keeping a tight hold and rubbing his thumb back and forth across her skin.
Bruce was slower to join them as he walked with his hands in his pant pockets.
“This isn’t Gotham General,” she commented with a suspicious gaze.
Jason scoffed and rolled his eyes. “Yeah. Well, as soon as Bruce arrived, they realized that you’re Gotham royalty by blood, and brought you to a special suite.”
Then Y/N’s eyes slowly moved to her father. “Five people died from the explosion?”
She needed to know. But she also knew that both men would try to protect her from possible survivor’s guilt.
So Bruce just nodded.
“How are you feeling?” Jason asked, trying to distract her by changing the subject.
“Tired. And my throat is sore,” she admitted with a light shrug.
Then she looked up at Jason and really took him in.
There were dark shadows under his eyes – the eyes that were still a bit bloodshot.
Had he been crying? She hadn’t registered that.
His hair was a mess, probably from drying haphazardly after jumping into the water to save her.
“Are you OK?” She asked.
It would be right on brand for Jason to risk his life saving her, but ignore any and all injures that he’d received from the same life-threatening travesty.
“I’m fine. Always am,” Jason reassured her too quickly.
Bruce chimed in,“We were all just worried about you, Y/N.”
Both men knew her next question was going to be about the well-being of Damian, Dick, and Tim.
“Can we go home?” She asked softly.
Y/N had always hated hospitals. And once her mother got cancer, Y/N absolutely despised them. Now all she had attached to them was bad memories that constantly threatened to trigger her.
“They just need to get a scan back, make sure everything’s good,” Jason tried to comfort her. “Once that’s good, I’ll take you home.”
He knew her distaste for hospitals and was prepared for her to want to escape at the earliest opportunity.
“Scan?” Y/N questioned.
“You didn’t have a pulse,” Bruce explained. “You have a concussion. We need to make sure there was no brain damage or any lasting side effects.”
“Right,” she mumbled, trying not to sound worried.
“You’re gonna be fine,” Jason reassured her as he cupped her cheek.
“Perhaps you should stay at the manor for a few days,” Bruce offered. “You can relax and not be bothered.”
“She can not be bothered in our apartment,” Jason interrupted, giving him side eye.
“Jason…” Y/N warned gently.
She knew the signs of Jason getting worked up. The fire in his eyes was always something Y/N could read – more than anyone else.
Bruce wasn’t offended by Jason’s little snipe. He was used to his temper. But his gaze did turn rather serious.
“Could I talk to you outside for a moment?”
Jason was about to refuse, not wanting to leave Y/N’s side. But he knew that would just most likely lead to an argument. And Y/N didn’t need to hear or see that. She was already exhausted and recovering. The last thing she needed was to witness was her father and boyfriend going at it – especially over her.
So Jason just nodded and stormed out of the room.
The quicker they got this over with, the better.
As soon as the door closed, Jason was sizing Bruce up.
“What exactly is your next move?” Bruce questioned.
“I’m going after Farrelli,” Jason rumbled, as if it was obvious.
No one put Y/N in danger and got away with it. Jason had already come up with a plan on how to seek his revenge.
It was going to be gruesome and dirty, but nothing less than what the bastards deserved.
Bruce clearly had expected this answer. “So do you plan on doing that while you take care of Y/N?” And he tilted his head as he challenged Jason.
“Are you really trying to stop me?”
Bruce took a step forward. “No, Jason. I’m trying to protect you from yourself. You get blinded by vengeance. And I let you get away with it. But now your actions don’t just effect you…they effect her, too.”
Jason blinked.
“Y/N needs you right now. Even though she will act like she doesn’t.” Bruce inhaled. “If you’re going to put revenge over her wellbeing, she should stay at the manor.”
This was a somewhat of a warning – an opportunity for Jason to do the right thing before he could make his mistake.
Jason’s head hung low now. “I can’t let him get away with it. She almost died, Bruce.”
“And he won’t. But we’ll take care of it,” Bruce promised.
Jason thought it about a moment, before he finally nodded slowly. “I think the manor would be good. But I won’t leave her.”
“I never said you had to,” Bruce corrected.
Jason nodded again and made his way to the door of Y/N’s room again.
“Jason?” Bruce called.
He turned around with an eyebrow quirked.
“Thank you for saving her life.”
Jason tried not to roll his eyes, but took a few steps back to Bruce.
“You have your opinions about me and her, I’m sure. But I want to make this is clear: I’m always going to protect her. Always. What happened tonight is never going to happen again. I’d die protecting her.”
Jason didn’t wait for Bruce’s response before turning back around.
But just as he opened Y/N’s door her heard, “I know, Jason. I’ve always known.”
—————
Jason was able to convince Y/N to stay at the manor.
And she surprisingly agreed – as long as he came with her.
Alfred spoiled her rotten with all of her favorite meals. He was constantly bring her tea or coffee.
Damian ordered all of his pets to keep her company and cuddle with her. To the point where Jason was annoyed because there was literally no space for him.
Tim downloaded a hundred movies for her to watch.
Dick sent flowers and chocolates.
Even Clark stopped by when he heard what happened.
Unbeknownst to Y/N, all the boys and Bruce were working on taking down Farrelli.
If Jason was the man from just a few years ago, Farrelli’s corpse would already be rotting somewhere in Gotham. But he had changed. Now they had to do things the right way.
Jason stuck to Y/N’s side like glue. He hovered, watched her like a hawk, wouldn’t let her do anything on her own.
After of a few days of this, Y/N finally had enough.
“You gonna talk to me anytime soon?” She asked him in bed on their third night.
Jason broke their eye contact.
“Jason. Please?” She whispered.
Silence filled the room.
“I can’t do it.”
Her brow furrowed. “Can’t do what?”
For a split moment, she thought he was about to try and break up with her.
“I can’t watch you get hurt again. I just…I can’t.”
She cupped his cheeks. “But I’m right here. And I’m fine, Jason.”
“When I…” He hesitated. “When I died. I knew it was coming. I saw the bomb counting down and I knew there was no escape. I accepted my fate. I knew I was going to die. And I was scared.”
Jason shook his head and took in a deep breath, “But Y/N…that was nothing compared to what I felt when I was convinced I’d lost you. I’m never been so fucking terrified in my life.”
Y/N smothered him with her embrace. “I’m so sorry for scaring you. But I’m OK. Please just focus on that. Please.”
“I can’t lose you, Y/N.” Jason whispered into her hair. “This place was hell before I met you. And I have no fuckin’ interest in fighting it without you.”
Y/N wished she could promise Jason that she would never leave him. But she was the child of a mother who passed far too soon. She knew life and death could be so cruel, ripping the loved ones away with or without warning.
No, she didn’t die this time. But who was to say something like this wouldn’t happen again? And maybe next time, she wouldn’t be so lucky. They lived in Gotham after all.
“Fate may have other ideas…But I never plan on leaving your side, Jason. I love you too much to do anything else.”
Jason actually laughed. “I can fight fate.”
He’d done it once before.

Ok new fic idea
Bruce gets transported to another dimension where everything is normal. There’s no magic, there’s no vigilantism, no super hero’s
Also his parents are alive
And he’s freaking the absolute fuck out, he’s trying to explain everything and say he’s not suppose to be there and they’re like, “uhhh, let’s call Clark?” And Bruce is like, “YES LETS CALL CLARK”
And Clark and Diana come over and they’re like, “Bruce you good??”
And Bruce is flipping his shit explaining to them, then he smacks the shot out of Clark and everyone is like, “BRUCE WHAT THE FUCK??” And Clark has a nose bleed and Bruce is just standing there freaking out more
Then suddenly he’s like, “where are my children??” And they’re like, “what children? Bruce you have no children?”
And Bruce is like, “My children I adopted! I have 6 kids! 7 of o count Stephanie and I do! WHERES MY KIDS. Talia! Talia I’ll get Talia, she and Ra’s have to understand”
And they’re like, “who????” And Bruce is like, “the mother of my child? The one who got away? We couldn’t agree on certain things. Like not murdering people or taking over the world”
And basically everything is like, “Bruce has lost his shit” meanwhile THAT Bruce is now is the Batman timeline and HES freaking the fuck out. Everyone is freaking the fuck out because that’s not Bruce, and poor Bruce is like, “I’m not ready to be a father??”
But then OUR Bruce is like, “ok I’ll actually prove it” and takes off his shirt and shows all his scars and everyone is like, “holy shit. What is happening?? You’re definitely not Bruce??”
Basically a want all hell to break and Constantine come son and fixes it the end

Sometimes I think the batfam forgets they’re not biologically related (and that’s because my dad was adopted but he’d talk about his adoptive family’s health history, traits and be like ‘yea be on the look out for that. It runs in the family’ like SIR)
Anyway here we go with the post
Tim: [is a short king]
Old gala lady: “aw look at you! Bit on the small side for 17, don’t you think?”
Bruce: “not necessarily, the doctor sai-“
Lady: [pinching Tim’s cheeks] “don’t worry about it, love. You’ll grow up into a fine young man just like your father”
Bruce: “oh, um-“
Tim: [looks hopeful]
Bruce: “yes he will”
Dick: [filling out paperwork for superhero things] “hey Bruce, does diabetes runs in the family?”
Bruce: “uh, not sure. I don’t think so”
Dick: “ok great, what about…heart problems?”
Bruce: [thinks for a moment] “I think my grandfather had a heart attack in his mid fifties, hold on I have records”
They proceeded to spend 20 minutes looking at medical records and histories
Bruce: “wait”
Dick: “what?”
Bruce: “we’re idiots, you’re adopted Dick”
Dick: “… dammit, so what’s my families medical history!”
Jason: [talking with some friends] “yea and I have my dads curly hair, he also started going grey kinda early so that’s probably why I have this white streak”
Roy: “oh nice! Same thing with my red hair. Was your dad tall too?”
Jason: “he is pretty tall, 6’2” I believe. Built like a brick wall too, also a stubborn asshole”
Artemis: “you must be spitting image of him, I wish we could meet him”
Jason: “what? You’ve met Bruce”
Roy: “… aren’t you adopted?”

The shit Bruce has to do to maintain Brucie Wayne literally keeps me up at night. I think about the comic panel where the security guy was like, “check the bathroom, he accidentally locks himself in there sometimes” at least 3 times a day
And on my Bruce Wayne isn’t Batman post I was like, yea he definitely does that shit. Like does he just go about his day, looks at something and goes, “yea, it’s time to be stupid”

Flash-Back
“Bucky! What if someone catches us?” Y/N giggled out breathlessly from behind one of the cargo trucks, kisses being trailed down her neck as she tilts her head backwards. It had been a few days since Steve and herself came and rescued Bucky from the prisoner camp and she was ecstatic to have Bucky back in her grasp.
“If you stay quiet then they won’t, sweetheart.” Bucky chuckles out against her neck as he left soft kisses. It had started to rain, soaking his short brown hair and clothes as well as Y/N. His hands trailed down to her waist, hoisting her up so her legs wrapped around his waist as he pushed her back up against the side of the truck. They were each other’s little secret. Kept from everybody, even Steve. Granted it was a lot harder to sneak around a military base than it was in Brooklyn but that didn’t stop them from stealing little moments together, “Not too quiet though…” He pulled back and grinned at her, moving one hand to stroke her cheek before his thumb gently traces her bottom lip, pulling it down slightly, “I like the sounds those pretty lips make for me.”
Y/N smiles at him, running her fingers through his dark hair and tilts her head at him, “Sergeant Barnes, I am not having sex with you in the middle of a military camp in the rain! Especially at the military camp where my brother is lurking around somewhere.” She chuckles to him, leaning forward and kissing his lips softly, “I’m still a lady.”
Bucky grins at her, licking his bottom lip before pulling it between his teeth for a soft bite and a wrinkle of his nose, “You keep calling me Sergeant Barnes and I’m not going to be able to keep my hands off of you, sweetheart.”
If Steve Rogers was the shield, his twin sister Y/N was the sword. She had taken the super serum with Steve- it was the only way she would allow her brother to go through the tests plus the scientists were curious about how it would affect twins. While Steve became Captain America with his shield, Y/N became Lady Patriot with dual blades. Together they rescued their friend Bucky from a prisoner camp and created the Howling Cammandos. It was extremely controversial to have a woman fighting in the war but she didn’t let anybody stand in her way. While Steve was more gentle and refined, Y/N was wild and head-strong. She never let anybody, let alone a man with high ranks, stand in her way. Steve had to stop her physically from going and looking for Bucky’s body after he fell from the train and after that, Y/N sacrificed herself with Steve when he put the jet in the ocean with the tesseract.
After Steve and Y/N found out Bucky was alive, they did everything in their power to try and protect him. Figure out what happened and how he became the Winter Soldier. He had recognized Y/N first before Steve but he was not the same man that had stared into her eyes as he fell from the train in the Alps.
Y/N stood beside Steve and the Avengers during the events with Thanos, her heart breaking for a second time when she watched Bucky turn into dust before she could reach him. This was the third time she had lost him. The first time was when he became a prisoner of war, second time when he fell from the train, and third time when he was blipped away from existence. But what remained of the Avengers never gave up. She helped them go back in time to collect the stones and was there when Thanos came back from the past to exterminate them again. Though this time didn’t go like the first time they fought Thanos five years ago. They won, bringing everybody back, and all that was left for Steve to return the stones to their proper time.
“Wait Buck, we gotta talk.”
“You’re not coming back are you?”
“No. It’s Peggy, Buck... this is my chance.”
Bucky just nods in understanding.
“Do me a favor though. Take care of Y/N. She isn’t going to handle this well.”
“You don’t even need to ask, Steve. I got her.”
Y/N stood beside Bruce, helping him set up the technology that would send her twin brother back in time to place all the infinity stones in time where they belonged. She looked over to see Steve and Bucky talking but couldn’t make out what they were saying even with her amplified hearing. She smiled as they approached, passing the brief case to her brother, “Remember, you have to return the stones to exactly where they were taken from or you’re going to open up a lot of nasty alternate realities.”
Steve smiled gently at his sister, taking the brief case that contained the stones from her, “Don’t worry, Y/N. I got it. Clip all the branches.” He told her before stepping onto the platform with the brief case in one hand and Mjolnir in the other.
“Ready?” Bruce asks, standing beside Y/N at the table to activate the technology that would allow Steve to go back in time to return the stones.
“You bet.” Steve said, taking one last look at Bucky and Sam before looking to his sister. He gave another small smile before his helmet clicked around his head.
Y/N tilted her head slightly at his smile. It seemed almost sad which made a bubble of worry enter her stomach, “Okay… Going quantum in three… two… one.” She watched Bruce hit the button and Steve disappear from the platform.
“And returning in five… four… three… two… one.” Bruce said and clicked the switch that would bring Steve back. The two paused when he didn’t return, looking over the screens and tech.
“What happened?!” Y/N asks Bruce, “Bring him back, now!”
Sam was about to interject to tell Bruce what Y/N had already told him but Bucky placed a hand on his shoulder, “Sam.” He said, looking over to a figure in the distance of a grey haired man sitting on the bench. Bucky watched Sam approach the elderly man that Bucky already knew was Steve.
Y/N looked up to see what Bucky and Sam were looking at and then she saw Steve. But it wasn’t the Steve she knew. He was older and sitting quietly on a bench alone. She took in a deep, sharp breath realizing what her twin brother had done. He had stayed back in time to be with Peggy. She shook her head, stepping away from Bruce about to make her way over to her brother to chew him out when Bucky grabbed onto her wrist, pulling her to a stop, “Let me go, Bucky!” She hissed out at him.
Bucky watched her with a tinge of sadness in his eyes, “Y/N, stop. He needs to talk to Sam first.” He said gently, his eyes scanning her face. He had known her since the day he brought Steve home the first time after getting beat up. They served in the Howlin’ Cammandos together and she had watched him fall from the train. She was there when he was the Winter Soldier. He had dragged her and Steve from the river after stopping the Helicarrier’s launch. She was there when Civil War happened between the avengers, helping to protect him from Tony while trying to take out the other Winter Soldiers. Y/N had stayed with him in Wakanda, helping him find some sort of peace before he was blipped out of existence by Thanos and she was there waiting when he returned. She had always been a constant in his life. Y/N was his home since the first time he kissed her and, god, he longed for that feeling again but didn’t feel worthy of it anymore.
Y/N turned to glare at Bucky, pulling her wrist out of his grasp, “You knew.” She said, “You knew he was going to do this, didn’t you?”
Bucky sighs and nods slowly, “I did… He told me. He deserves this, sweetheart.” He said softly, reaching out to brush his flesh fingers along her cheek softly. It had been five years since he last saw her before he was snapped away by Thanos and he still felt everything for her.
Y/N looked over at her now elderly brother before back to Bucky, pushing his hand away from her face, “You two have always been quite the pair, James.” She spat out at him before pushing past him. She could hear him calling her name, telling her to wait but she just kept walking.
That was the one of the last times Bucky had seen Y/N as she was. He couldn’t go after her yet though- he had his own shit to work out from his past as the Winter Soldier. He was offered a deal by the federal government where he would be pardoned for the actions as the Winter Soldier as long as he attended court-mandated therapy and psych-evaluations. He couldn’t go after her until he had dealt with all this bullshit. Then the Flag Smashers came to light, causing him and Sam to jump into action to deal with the new super soldiers.
The next time Bucky saw Y/N was in Madripoor at the Princess Bar. He was forced by Zemo to pretend to be the Winter Soldier and couldn’t let down his act. He saw her in the corner watching with her angry eyes locked on Zemo, ready to attack him. Luckily, Sam had noticed her too and got in her path, “Hey, Y/N, don’t.” Sam warned, placing his hands on her arms to get between the fight that Bucky was putting on, “We need Zemo. There’s shit going on you don’t know about. The Flag Smashers and new super-soldiers.”
Y/N glared at Sam, pushing him away from her, “Get off of me.” She hissed out at him before promptly exiting the bar. She had noticed Bucky give her a softened look from the corner of his eyes as he had a man slammed against the bar but even after all this time she was still upset at her brother for leaving her and Bucky for not telling her.
After everything with the Flag Smashers was settled and Sam took the new roll as Captain America, Bucky attended the community cookout with Sam’s family and friends. It was the only place besides Wakanda he felt peace. He play fought with AJ and Cass while balancing the cake he brought. It was the first time in a long time he had actually felt at peace, happy. But there was still something missing and he knew exactly what it was- Y/N. After the cookout, Bucky stood with Sam and watched the sun go down. Bucky looked at Sam with a half smile.
“You’re going to go after her, aren’t you?” Sam asks knowingly. He always had a sort os sixth sense when it came to reading people.
Bucky nodded, “I have to.” He replied with the same half-smile, “I promised Steve I would take care of her. Now that everything is right again, I have to find her.”
Sam placed a hand on Bucky’s shoulder, “I think we both know that it’s about more than just a promise to Steve. Let me know if you need help. A lot of people think of her a deserter after she disappeared but you two will always have a place here.” He said with a smile before returning to be with his sister and nephews.
It took Bucky a long time to find clues of Y/N’s whereabouts. Even with Sharon pardoned and trying to help, she informed him Y/N had left Madripoor after her interaction with Sam. The last trace of her was somewhere in Alaska so that was where he went. He held up pictures of her face, asking if anybody had seen her. He eventually got lucky when an old lady smiled and said, “Oh, that’s Y/N! She lived here in Fairbanks for a few months but said she was moving to Selawik.” And with that information, Bucky made his way to Selawik. He wasn’t lead right to Y/N though. Selawik was a small town that had people scattered deep into the mountains. Bucky trekked through the arctic and eventually found traces of Y/N from katana marks on tree trunks as if she had still been training and using them for targets. When he came to a small cabin where loud 80’s rock music was blasting from, he knew he had found her. He started up the steps when a katana came flying from behind him and stuck into the wooden door. He looked at the katana, recognizing the colors of the handle immediately and turning to see Y/N standing behind him with her other katana in her hand, “Y/N.”
Y/N tilted her head at him, her features emotionless from under her hood. She walks up and pulls her katana from the door beside him, “What are you doing here, James?” She asks in a harsh tone before opening the door and walking into the cabin.
Bucky follows her, stuffing his hands into his pockets, “I’ve been looking for you.” He said simply, watching as she went to turn the music off leaving them in silence. He watched her place her katanas on a table before she pulled off her jacket and snow pants, leaving her in blue jeans with a black sweater. He couldn’t lie- her calling him James after Tony’s funeral and now hurt his heart. She always called him Bucky so affectionately since he had introduced himself to her.
After stripping her layers, Y/N turned to look at Bucky, “I know.” She replied, “I saw everything with the Flag Smashers. You and Sam did good. Steve would be proud of the new Captain America. And he would be proud of you.”
Bucky nodded, slowly shimming off his own layers and placed them beside her’s leaving him in black jeans with a light blue long sleeved shirt, “Yeah… Thanks.” He muttered back before meeting her gaze, “What you saw in Madripoor… We needed Zemo’s help. He’s back in prison now.”
“Six feet under would’ve been better.” Y/N replied, folding her arms across her chest as she watched Bucky, “So what are you doing here now? Shouldn’t you be enjoying life as a hero? A new man?”
Bucky frowned a little at her words, “I promised Steve I would help you. I don’t break my promises. I think he kind of caught on about us…” He replied, crossing the space between them and placing his right hand on her arm, “You can come back to Louisiana with me. You would love it there.”
Y/N scanned her eyes across his features. Dammit. He still looked as good as he did the day she met him just a little more aged with those bits of brokenness behind his features, “He already knew about us. After you fell from the train I told him everything.” She informed before sighing at his request, “Is that what you want? Someone to play house with?”
Bucky dropped his hand from her arm and backed away a little at her words, running his fingers through his dark hair with a huff. Of course that’s what he wanted. He had always wanted her. He didn’t want this life for them. He wanted to come back from the military and settle down with Y/N, ask Steve if he could marry her but everything was so different now. They both weren’t the same people they were in the forties, “Look, I know we aren’t the same people we were before and I understand that you don’t care for me the same way anymore, but I still feel everything for you. And I promised Steve I would help you… So if you do end up in need of any help, I’ll be with Sam and whenever you need me, I’ll be there.” He told her before turning to shrug his jacket back on.
Y/N sighs and looks around her cabin slowly, “You can’t leave. There’s a storm rolling in and you won’t make it two miles before you’re frozen.” She said, walking over to the kitchen and pulling out two beers, holding one out to him, “Might as well stay here until it dies down.”
Bucky watched her move to the couch before putting his jacket back where it was and taking the beer from her, “Thank you.” He said, opening the bottle and taking a seat at the small kitchen table she had.
Y/N sat across from him at the table, opening her own beer and taking a small sip before placing in in front of her on the table, “You’re wrong, you know?” She asks, watching as Bucky gave her a confused look, “I still care about you in the same way. It’s just everything we’ve been through,” She looks down to the table, “It’s different. I watched you fall from the train thinking you had died. Then decades later you come back not as yourself. I was there in Wakanda with you, helping you get back pieces of you and I still loved you. But then you were gone again because of the snap. I lost you again.” She shook her head slightly, looking up at the ceiling, “Then everything with Steve…”
Bucky listened to her, staring at her intently. His hand gripped the beer bottle roughly at her saying she still felt the same way towards him, “I know… You and I have been through more than anybody should have to.” He said before swallowing hard, “Steve loved you, Y/N. It was what he wanted. He deserved to live a life more than just trading a different war for another.”
“What about what I deserve? Or you?” Y/N asks, looking over at him. There was pain in her eyes and she wrinkled her nose as if to stop herself from crying, “I would’ve gone back with him if he asked but instead he left us here to figure the world out on our own, to figure out who we are when we aren’t not trying to save the world and I don’t know who that is, Bucky.”
Bucky nods, knowing the feeling all too well. They were lost in time, stuck in the present where neither felt like they belonged. Being thrown into situations where they had to save others instead of saving themselves, “I know how you feel.” He replied, looking at his beer bottle in his hands, “Sometimes I don’t know who I am anymore. Even with the Winter Soldier gone it’s like somewhere inside me… He’s still there.” He sighs before looking across the table at the girl he still loved and has never stopped loving, “The only time I feel like myself… The only time I feel like I’m Bucky is when I’m with you. You knew me as I was, who I was and when I look at you it feels like you’re my only hope of getting back to myself.”
Y/N listened to him, biting her bottom lip as she kept her gaze on him for a moment. The way those blue eyes looked at her, even if they were saddened, were the same blue eyes that were filled with love towards her. She sighs and stood up from the table, moving over to the fireplace that was crackling with a large flame, “I’m not the same person though.” She said softly, knowing he would hear her with his enhanced hearing, “I’m not the same girl. I'm not the girl that would jump into your arms and leave kisses all over your face, Bucky. I’m broken too.”
Bucky watched her move across the room as if to retreat from her feelings. The way she had stared into his eyes… He knew she still loved him just as much as he still loved her. He stood, crossing the room over to stand beside her. He gently took her hand in his, looking down at her as she turned her face to look up at him, “You’re not the same girl. And I’m not the same man. But you are still the person I love.” He told her, turning his body to face her’s and gently moved his other hand to sweep some hair from her face before gently pressing his lips to her forehead, “We can be broken together.”

Your Endgame
So this is requested by@raginghellfire. I haven’t written in a while due Uni and busy classes but I hope I did a good job on this. UwU Dami might be a bit OOC but I really think he is a passionate lover when he falls in love.
Bruce Wayne was one tough cookie. Unlike Tony, he held shackled himself with the responsibility of protecting Gotham city from its baddies that he barely let himself enjoy his life. He too cares for children very much but he wasn't as hands-on being there for them. He wasn't always there in those best events in their life to congratulate them that greatly hurt them. It would seem that he just adopted these children as soldiers for his endless war with crime, that they were nothing but expendable assets. But he does love them and had just recently been trying to reconnect with all of them.
Tony Stark had always let his child have free reign over their life but he never leaves the passenger seat. He will always be by their side no matter what choice they make. He was never strict as he was a free soul but he grows and understands responsibility everyday after returning from Afghanistan after being held captive. He wasn't a perfect father but he did try for Y/n, good thing for him is that she understands responsibility earlier made it easy for him to be there for him.
Bruce Wayne was notorious for being a play boy, same goes to Tony Stark. Both men has had another of flings that the paparazzi didn't miss to see. It took quite a while before two of them finally found out the true meaning of true love. The one decided to settle down while the other chose his job over attaining a lifelong happiness and peace.
Some of the Wayne kids also had their own flings through out their lives. Some had more the two and some, just one. Just one cause when the second came, they were their endgame.
---
The bright city lights of Paris slightly seeped in the glass panes of the balcony doors of the room. Across it was a king sized bed with undone sheets and two people underneath the high quality comforter. Damian and Y/n sat with backs against the head board, the latter former resting his against the latter's figure. His head slightly buried on her neck as her fingers combed through his bed hair her other hand around his bare chest.
"I'm pretty sure that photo reached them already," her voice echoed around the slightly dim room.
Damian hummed, "It did, which earned me quite a number of miss calls from my family,"
Y/n giggled that he found contagious making him do the same.
"I'm going back to Gotham in two days but I don't think I'm ready to leave your side yet," he snuggled his face on her neck, placing butterflies kisses on them. Her eyes close, a flutter vibrates within her chest as she pulled his head closer. Placing her lips on his head. Damian pulled her seated figure closer to his own, his face snuggling closer to her skin.
"Can I just postpone the flight for another month?" he mumbled, sending tickles on her skin making her giggle.
"Dami, you said that 2 months ago and you already bought a ticket home,"
Damian never whines but after almost two years of being in a relationship, there are certain childishness he had suddenly unlock being with her. Y/n laughed at his childish wiles as it send tingles in his stomach, he loves it when she laughs because of him.
"Besides, I already scheduled mine and my seat is next to yours, you can't expect me to have an empty seat beside me?"
Damian's head shot up from her neck, his eyes staring at her. Y/n bit her lip containing a fit of giggles after seeing his eyes sparkle like a child getting a new toy. He slumped his faced between breast.
"I really love you."
"And I really love you too, Dami,"
---
And probably the biggest public figures is youngest Wayne child and the eldest Stark Child. The most controversial couple that reached ears all over the world. No one knew of their relationship as until the paparazzi caught a picture of them kissing at Champ de Mars near the Eiffel tower. The news made use of the quote, "Pictures speaks a thousand words" rather well. Some are heartbroken by the news but the biggest people taken surprise by the news were the Wayne's.
Clicks and flashes surrounded the long trail of red carpet that lead to entrance of the Wayne manor that held another gala. This time it was a celebratory occasion for the youngest Wayne's return from a long vacation that he took a almost 2 years ago. A break he took after a rather peaceful yet melancholic break up with titan's member. Damian suddenly decided to toss the towel and told his Father that he doesn't want to be like Bruce, alone and brooding. He needs to breath for a while to which his father did not hesitate to agree. Bruce loves his children, he may not show it but he does.
A Grey matte Porsche 911 parked its way at the end of the carpet making some of the photographers to it, awaiting the celebrities that will emerge.
"Do you think they'll like me? I mean Dad isn't really in good terms with Bruce Wayne you know," Y/n eyed the silhouette of the Wayne manor and the crowding paps at the cat walk. This wasn't the first time she came to a Wayne gala, its just that this time she was going to be introduced as Damian Wayne's girlfriend.
The emerald eyed Wayne gently took her chin to meet his eyes. A gentle smiles grew from his lips.
"They will, beloved. I know they will because I love you," his voice said laced a such a tender tone that no one ever thought he could have.
A love sick grin emerged from her once doubting expression before she pressed leaned for a quick peck to which he returned in an instant. They pulled away with both of them sharing the same cheek tinted grins.
Damian emerged from the driver's seat followed by the loud camera clicks and calling reporters. He simply gave his signature Wayne smile before turning to the other side of the car to where Y/n emerges with the same celebrity like smile that she inherited from her father. From the moment they set foot on the carpet, the paparazzi just got louder and rather pushy that made the guards push them out a little harder.
"Mr. Wayne how'd you meet Ms. Stark?!"
"Miss Stark, how long have you two been together?!"
"Miss Stark look here!!"
"Mister Wayne! Look here!!"
To say that the paparazzi were going crazy would be an understatement, as they were going mad-crazy as the couple walking the catwalk is the biggest confirmation to the news that a union between the Wayne and the Stark has occurred. If they could only get to the couple to ask some, more like a bunch of questions would be the cherry on top of the new news for next day.
Upon entry within the Manor, their arrival turn heads and silenced chatters.
Y/n M/n Stark, the matriarch of the Stark Industries inheriting the nickname, 'Merchant of Death' in Manhattan. She was a much smarter tinker as she assured no such case like her father's long captivity ever happened again and all Stark weapons are heavily protected and can only be handled by the military hands.
Damian Wayne was no CEO but is a COO of the Wayne Enterprises. Helping his brother Tim in managing the affairs in the company. It's bad enough that the male is overdosing himself with caffeine while handling their nightly hero affairs, he was still his brother no matter how much they quarrel. Damian was willing to shoulder long painstaking meetings for him just to let him have a day off.
To see the two of them together would expresses a union.
Their matching outfit theme elevated the curiosity of all the attendants of the gala. Damian's slick three piece burgundy check suit made Damian look sophisticated but neat. Every young lady around the room were welcome to gawk at his figure as he glides with his partner. Y/n's own green gown greatly complimented his with its shade of green, its shape hugging her figure naturally that she loved. Every young man had their eyes on an emerald.
It didn't take long before the couple reached the group of people they are meant to meet. They didn't miss their wide eyes and dropped jaws. Y/n may be a stranger but they could agree that she is a beautiful stranger. It was only when Damian spoke that they have gained awareness of their surroundings.
"Good evening father, everyone. It's nice to see you all again," Damian began with Y/n holding on to his shoulder.
"I gotta say demon spawn you grew quite a lot for just two years," Jason earned a slightly hard nudge from Dick. Damian may have grown but he still has a tick with Jason's nicknames for him.
"Don't mind him Damian, why don't you introduce your company," the eldest said as he slightly push the white streaked hair male behind him that earned a look from his father.
Damian didn't say anything on the nickname thing and proceeded to introduce her which earned quite an awkward atmosphere on his family's side while the couple remained at ease in their presence.
"Stark its nice to finally see you again," Tim entered as he brought his hand out to which the woman took generously.
"Good to see you too Drake, and good evening to you too Mister Wayne,"
Bruce went forward to shake her hand, "How is your father by the way?" he asked.
"He is doing well, he's living by the countryside with my sister and mom," she replied with a smile.
"So he's settling down?" Bruce asked, quite surprised.
"Yes, he said life is short and he intends to spend it living it with us," She continued to which earned a bit of awkwardness with Damian's siblings. It was a rather sensitive topic but they didn't speak of it any further.
---
Damian had to separate himself from Y/n to help Tim a bit on the company. Seated by the bar, with his two brothers and his father, it was quite a company.
"How long have you two been going out?" Dick opened as you turned to him.
"We've been together for almost 1 year and half years, but we didn't started dating until six months later after we met,"
"We're you aware he just got out of a break up?" Jason raised.
Y/n took a sip of her drink, "I did, that's why I didn't let him to be with me until I totally confirmed that I was not a rebound,"
"And how do you know you aren't just a rebound for Rachel Roth?" Dick asked this time.
Bruce didn't say anything as he wasn't very much in touch with his son's relationship, but he did know that he loved her, Damian wouldn't risk his life for anyone if he did. As much as he wanted to stop Dick from pulling a rather sensitive topic on a person he just met especially when that person is someone close to his brother, he wants to know if the girl was just a fling. Y/n was known to have a number of flings before Damian came in to the picture.
"Damian is not mine to claim, whether I am a rebound or not, I still love him, you can try to make me say what we are having is just a fling but I know one thing," her tone was authoritative but calm.
They were doubting Damian's judgement with her relationship with her. Its not like she wasn't aware that he dated a co-worker of his. He was his first love and Y/n knew she might not be his last but she sure prays to whatever ethereal being that they last.
"I love him. Whether you believe me or not, I will always do even if he chooses her over me,"
Damian was her everything.
---
By midnight, Damian said his good byes with his family. He didn’t miss the slight look of sadness in her eyes so he took her away from his brothers' company. Damian was sure that they said something but she chose to protect them by not telling him anything.
When they got to the parking lot as they got to their car, Damian stopped and had Y/n face him. Before she could ask, he had already latched his lips on her. Giving her an ever so passionate kiss they always share. One that he always felt like he was having his first kiss the first time.
Y/n circled her arms around his neck before they broke off, forehead resting against each other.
"I may not know what went on between you and my family by the bar, but I want you to know that I love you. You may not be my first but I am deathly sure that you are my last…" he whispered to her.

Beach Day
Hey Besties <3, I plan on getting 3 more posts like this out today as I know I haven't been the most active this week, then tomorrow there will be 2 more out so it means I have posted 7 written works this week. So keep your onions peeled. (the amazing writer @sapphireplums gave me so much inspiration to write with their kind words so you should give her a follow).
Summary: The avengers get their toes in the sand and their swimsuits on.
You had all been working for what felt like 200 years
With missions and paperwork none of you had seen each other properly
So an hour of brainstorming you came up with the genius idea of a beach day
You decided to put the idea to Fury so he could clear everyone's schedule
However it took a lot more convincing than you had expected
You shivered under the mans watchful gaze, you never really understood documentary presenters when they talked about the look of fear in some poor mouse's eyes as it was scooped up into the talons of some large bird, that was until you met Fury, you were sure you had the same look in your eyes right now. You shifted in your seat as he began to talk again, “So you want me to let the world's protectors go off duty for a whole day just so you can go running across some sand and take a swim in salty water? Even though if you wanted to get sand in your hair I would happily get you a bag of it?” he asked a hint of amusement in his voice, pausing his pacing to quirk his eyebrow at you. When he worded it like that it sounded stupid but you knew you all needed a break and you weren’t about to give up “I wouldn’t phrase it like that but yes sir that is in a way what I am asking, look we haven’t been together as a group since the last big team mission a month ago and I can’t remember the last time we spent a day together. Please?” If you can’t get someone to agree by simply asking them then tug at their heartstrings and beg. Those had been the wise words of your grandma Jo and it seems that they had been true “Fine you get 1 day then it’s all back to normal”
After convincing the terrifying director you had taken the idea to Tony as he was going to be the one paying for it
It’s not like he doesn’t have enough money to give some to his friends (and even more to charity but that was an idea for another day)
Of course the man more than happy to splash some cash to see everyone have fun together (and in a swimsuit)
The morning of the trip had been stressful and chaotic to say the least
“DOES EVERYONE HAVE SUN CREAM?” the captain's voice boomed over the noise of zippers shutting, the music from the beach day playlist Tony had made and the excited chattering of the team. “Yes Captain safety first I have enough bottles in the car to last at least 20 years because unlike Y/n I actually know how to take care of myself” the genius quipped laughing at the offended noise that fell from your mouth, “at least I’m not going grey old man” you muttered wandering around trying to find the bucket and spade you had brought down stairs. “Hey as anyone who has seen my Bucket and Spade I can’t seem to find it” you called out rummaging through the colossal pile of bags “No, are you sure you brought it down doll?” Bucky spoke, looking round in confusion not remembering seeing you bring it down. If you weren’t so caught up in looking for your sandcastle building tools you would have laughed at the ‘lost tourist’ look on his face. “Yes I’m sure,” shoving bags with more aggression eager to find it “is everyone sure they haven’t taken it” you stopped to look at the group, cheeks tinted pink from the force at which you were moving bags. “Yes , we’re sure now get downstairs and in the car I’ll get you one when we get there” rushed Natasha, her red hair a nice contrast to the dark denim shorts she had on, “if we get there” whispered Sam making Thor laugh as he attempted to pick up 3 bags at once.
Anyone would have thought you were going on a 5 day holiday with the amount you had all tried to shove in the back of the mini-van you all chipped in for one year at Christmas for this exact reason
The seniors of the group ( Iced Americano and The metal armed man with no plan) were confused on why you needed to take this much but you and Wanda were insistent that you had packed the essentials
(Okay maybe the hats, 5 bottles of sun cream and armbands and floats for the poor swimmers of the pack had been slightly unconventional for a day at the beach but it’s better safe than sorry right?)
The drive was also very chaotic
You hadn’t realised how uncomfortable the seats had been until you were forced to spend 2 hours stuck next to Loki in them. “I know this is the 10th time I have asked this but are we there yet?” the God was starting to seem more like a 5 year old than a stabbing machine and he wasn’t the only one ,“Can you please move your leg over a bit it’s on my side” Sam whined as he shoved Bucky’s shoulder “No for the last time I can’t so deal with it bird brain” the pair hadn’t stopped bickering since they stepped foot inside the vehicle. “Tony can you turn up the music and drown the noise of these kids out please” you sighed, pinching the bridge of your nose trying to soothe the oncoming headache (not that making the music even louder was going to help) “I thought you’d never ask kid” he replied lunging for the twisty thing no one actually knew the name of, that turned up the music (Bruce probably knew but no one had the energy to ask).
When you got there however the 2 hour drive felt like the needed sacrifice as your toes hit the sand.
As much as you loved being able to fight alongside your family there was nothing better than watching them relax, faces slowly morphing into ones of pure bliss.
“You alright there y/n? You looked like you were away with the fairies then” Steve chuckled, unfolding the deck chair he had brought and placing it next to yours. “Yeah I’m good I was just thinking about how lucky we are to have each other” the man smiled at you as your eyes glinted in the sunshine. “LAST ONE TO THE WATER SMELLS OF FISH” Peter screamed bolting towards the water, that bastard you thought jumping up and running after him “PETER YOU DICK I’M GONNA GET YOU!!!” you laughed. Once you got in the water you squeaked at how cold it was doing the ‘ohh ohh oh sihufbbe’ noise that came with the shock of cold water spinning around to splash water in bug boys face. Oh shit. That wasn’t Peter, you had forgotten that Bruce had gotten into the water straight after Tony and had been swimming beside you. The whole group froze half expecting the man to turn green however what you were met with wasn’t a green mean smashing machine and was in fact a laughing doctor and a splash of water to the face. After that a water fight started, screams of surprise and joy a comforting change to the screams of fear you usually heard in your line of work. You snuck off back to shore and looked at your found family from the warmth of your towel realising how lucky you were to be in a place of love and support, free of judgement. Because at the end of the day yes Loki would complain about the sand in his hair, Thor would be asking for a stop at the shops to add to his Pop tart stock pile, Nat would be silently filming Sam and Bucky bicker like an old married couple, Tony would make flirty remarks to Pepper about letting him rub sun cream on her back again some time, Peter and you would be talking shit to each other as he beat you at yet another game of Mario kart as Wanda and vision made sure to make an extra bowl of whatever they had made to take Bruce who had already made his way down to the lab but you were a family and there was no place you’d rather be.
You would say this was the best idea you ever had but the video of you painting Cap’s shield bright pink would beg to differ
It was a successful trip and you would 100% be posting the picture of Bucky and Peter looking depressed at the fact their ice-creams had fallen on the floor after a light game of ‘I’m gonna push you over’
Ahhhh the bliss of a beach day with the gang

Authors Notes: thank you so much for the request anon!!! Hope this exceeds your imagine :) thank you very much for reading.
Requested by: Anonymous
The compound was very quiet as you took light steps towards the common room, nibbling your thumb nail on the journey. It was around 8am and still early, most of the team were away on missions or still asleep. There were just a few left at the compound to house sit; you, Bucky, Tony and Bruce. They spent most of their time in the lab working on some unnamed scientific projects so you were more often than not left to your own devices around the home.
As you stepped into the open kitchen, you froze in your place. Bucky was leaning on the counter with his head propped up in his hand, spooning big mouthfuls of cereal in his mouth, milk dripping off the spoon and disappearing into his beard. You tried to make yourself invisible and as quiet as possible as you walked around the counter and poured some coffee.
“What, you’re not even gonna say good morning?” Bucky scoffed from his seat. With glossy eyes, you turned to look at him, astonished he would speak to you like that because he never has in the past.
“Go- good morning Sergeant Barnes.” your voice was cracked and quiet as you spoke. A shy and timid young individual not used to being called out like that. You could tell today wasn’t going to be a good day just by the scowl etched on Bucky’s face. He had deep bags under his eyes and you were wondering if he was okay.
“Good morning peeps!” Tony sighed walking in and seeing the thunderous look on Bucky’s face. “Good morning to you grump.”
“Fuck off Tony.” your heart thudded painfully in your chest by his tone. This was definitely a different side to Bucky, one you have not seen yet. Tony left with his coffee and walked into the common room to fiddle with the large TV mounted on the wall.
“Um Bucky, would you like some more coffee?” you asked quietly, the liquid splashing inside the pot from your shaking hands.
“NO!” his voice boomed through the quiet kitchen. “Does it look like I’m an incapable old man who can’t make his own coffee?”
“Of course not, I just thought I would offer to-”
"JUST DROP IT Y/N! I'm so sick of you acting like my fuckin' caretaker, always following me around like some weird... you know what. Forget it." Bucky roared inches from your face. Throwing his cup against the tiled wall behind you, shattering the porcelain into pieces.
You flinched by his sudden outburst, covering your face. You didn’t mean to make him angry. But your question had somehow triggered him and now you were leaning against the cupboard fiddling with the hem of your shirt awkwardly. Tears already spilling.
You were shy by nature. So being screamed at by the man you most respected caused you to turn to mush. Your legs were jelly and your chin wobbled when Tony rushed in to see what was going on. Eyes widened in shock from the mess on the floor and the state of you.
"Y/N? Are you okay? Did he- did he hurt you?" Tony asked reluctantly. Knowing full well that Bucky would never, ever hurt you. But by your trembling state he had to make sure.
"Fine." Your voice cracked. Blinking harshly to will away the tears wanting to overflow. "I'm just..." You pushed away from the unit, pointing towards the door. Your wobbly legs carried you back to your room. Your mind clouded in a thick fog. You knew you were walking but it felt like you were floating.
***
Bucky regretted his outburst. You were one of the sweetest and most angelic people on the team, you weren’t rowdy like the others. He was laying on his back in his bed staring up at the ceiling with his hands under his head. He woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, no sleep last night from the realistic nightmare that plagued his dreams. Bucky was tired and exhausted, physically and mentally.
To calm himself down, Bucky decided to take a hot shower. They always made him feel a little bit better, he would certainly need to change his ugly mood before he could apologize to you. He walked into his conjoined bathroom and turned the shower on, stripping himself of his clothes and standing under the raining shower head, letting the hot water trickle down over his face and down his chest. Droplets racing against each other, his hands ran through his damp locks as he shook your distressed state from his mind. *** You spent the day huddled up on your bed, skipping dinner and cuddling your large teddy bear Bucky had bought you for your birthday. The bears were a comfort since you were scared of thunderstorms. Your eyes were red from crying and your cheeks were still wet as you made no effort to wipe them. The rain pelted against the window panes and the sky was dark with rain clouds. You gently placed your bear on the floor and got up to close your blinds, slipping into your most comfortable pair of pyjamas and dimmed the lights, you climbed under the duvet and looked for something to watch on Netflix.
You’re not sure what time it was, or how much time had passed when a knock on your door jolted you awake suddenly. The netflix logo screen staring back at you from afar.
“Come in.” you croaked, your voice tired from sleep and crying yourself to death earlier. Bucky’s hulking figure walked in, a guilty and puppy dog look on his face. You took a second to marvel at his incredible physique. A tight white shirt pulled across his chest, showcasing his incredible pecs that you often found yourself blushing at every time you saw them, matched perfectly with his grey sweatpants and white socks.
This was not the time Y/N. He yelled at you, remember?
“Hey doll. Can I talk to you?” Bucky asked sheepishly. He looked tired, but calmer.
“Of course.” you patted the empty spot next to you on the bed and Bucky smiled, taking a few strides over towards your bed and making himself comfortable. You sat up, crossing your legs and faced him. His shower gel permeated your room, overtaking the vanilla scented candle on your nightstand.
“I uh…” he shook his head and clicked his tongue. His tongue poking through his dry lips to wet them. “I’m really really sorry for what I said to you today. I hope you know I meant none of it. I was and am just so tired, no sleep.” he explained and you worried your lip with your teeth, taking bits of skin off from the surface. Bucky became worried when you didn’t speak but instead acting anxious and nervous around him. He knew he scared you earlier but he needed you to know he would never hurt you.
“I’m really sorry I scared you earlier doll. I promise I didn’t mean to, it really did just get on top of me and I promise I’ll never do that again. I’m the biggest idiot.” a lopsided smile appeared on his face and you couldn’t help but mimic the action.
“I’m really sorry that I made you angry.” you said in barely a whisper, dipping your head in shame. Bucky sat up and pulled you into his lap, your head resting against his chest above his heart as his fingers trailed through your hair.
“I want to make something clear…” his chest vibrated against your face as he spoke. “You did NOT make me angry. You did nothing but show your kindness towards me and you did not deserve those words thrown at you doll and I am seriously so sorry. You’re such an angel and I couldn’t stop thinking about you the whole day.” You craned your neck upwards and smiled. Bucky sought confidence and kissed your forehead as a blush petted your cheeks adorably. “Why are you such a sweetheart, doll? You should kick my ass.”
You giggled and Bucky hugged you tighter. “I accept your apology.” Bucky smiled at that, and pressed another kiss to your forehead, this time his lips lingered a little longer.
“I’ll make it up to you, I promise. Do you wanna watch a movie?” you nodded your head enthusiastically and went to move off his lap when his arms tightened, eliciting a giggle from you. “I’m gonna go grab us some snacks and drinks and then I’m gonna cradle you in my arms.”
Your adorable shy giggle pulled at his heart strings and he would keep his promise and absolutely make it up to you in whatever way he could.
