ears still ringing, his fingertips blindly drift down to trail along his vivisection scar. he half-expects blood to smear in their wake. his own line of solomon, who ordered him split in twain; half of him given to a grieving mother and half left with the grieving to be.

just for both his broken halves to be rejected.

what did it make him that his mother grieved him more than she loved him? that she begged to be relieved of him more adamantly than she begged to receive him? why did his worth spill out with his drawn blood? why was his pain lesser than hers?

his hand flexes, digging into the raised scar like it’ll part beneath his fingertips to plunge into his mangled insides. no one knows the cruelty of reforming the halved; his name, his being, not nearly as important as his body when he was stripped from himself. no one knows the pain of healing and understanding losing pieces of yourself means losing your value along with them.

how many more pieces did he have to lose before he was halved once more? before his very presence incurred grief so strong it was better to be rid of him than cradle his bloodied remains?

did the infant fight himself? did he age always at odds with himself; his halves never truly whole? he hopes he wasn’t, that he was spared the loss of self; the fear that one may be welcomed over the other.

who will he lose when the inevitable comes? when he’s ripped apart again? simon? or ghost? is it better to be cursed with choice just like his mother or live with an aftermath chosen for him? does it matter if in the end, he convinces himself there was nothing of him left to lose?

his head lolls to the side and the wild buck of his chest slows. he watches johnny beside him, his face lax with the rare peace of sleep; his cheek squished against the pillow, his lips pursed as long breaths escape him.

johnny. soap. never torn asunder but two all the same.

he carefully reaches out and ghosts his fingers along the jagged scar on his chin. even in sleep, he presses into his bloodied touch. he’s never fled his half-flesh, never shies away from his gore as it spills unbidden from his cleaved torso. he holds on where his mother let him go; cups his stomach to hold his insides in place and never minds the blood that drips through his fingers.

simon will never let him become his own solomon and cannibalise himself. he will never let him question which half of him has more value; which pieces he can afford to lose before he’s cast aside.

nanako would maybe make an appearance over a call or something in narukami's s.link at most due to yknow. being in inaba, but i imagine narukami bringing her up a lot in s.link events! p5si takes place in the 2019-2020 school year, so nanako would be a 1st year at yasogami at this point in time. just a year behind akane

the mental image of silco having found his argumentative match in 12 y/o ish viktor is so funny cause we know what viktor looked like as a kid 💀💀 absolutely adorable, pinchable cheeks, big eyes and ready to throw hands with his father because hes just as much of a little shit. more than once vander has had to turn around to avoid being seen laughing cause of ALL things that could cause silco to sprout gray hairs is their otherwise angelic (as far as they know, this is viktor we're talking about lol) oldest kid. absolutely hilarious, even (not to say vander has never had viktor talk back to him, its just that its funny when its with silco cause yea, he was warned hed get a kid just like himself, and in turn he has told viktor the same thing)

Viktor's adorable. Like we need to acknowledge that this is what Silco is arguing with and getting endlessly frustrated as a result:

Most people don't realise how wicked smart (as in smart in the cunning canny kind of vicious way, they know he's generally a smart kid) he is because he can just turn on those big doe eyes and they let him get away with anything. He's polite and well-behaved and really can't be all that much bother. And meanwhile he is possibly Silco's hardest kid because Viktor becomes very good at arguing back from very young so Silco can no longer rely on being able to shut him down with something that Viktor can't argue back to because Viktor will just argue back to it. He's observant and clever and is not afraid to expose his parents hypocrisy to get his way. It drives Silco insane because he also doesn't want to be arguing like this with his 12 year old but Viktor won't just back down (and Silco sure as hell isn't going to). He is proud of how clever his boy (Viktor isn't going to tolerate being talked down to that's good) he just hates when it's directed at him.

Vander is so entertained. He can barely win an argument with Silco (instead having to wait Silco's rage out and try and approach the topic/idea from a different angle to hopefully avoid another fire up) and meanwhile their son is able to go toe-to-toe with Silco. He has a far better time with Viktor partially because he's been dealing with Silco for years so will tell Viktor that he "knows better than to argue with you" when Viktor starts and instead keep it as a calm conversation and not let it become an argument.

It's so funny to think about Viktor being the "just like you" curse child for Silco. Because Silco moved out of home when he was a teenager because he snuck around behind his parents back, got pregnant and started doing crime. Viktor moves out of home as a teenager because he snuck around his parents back to go... study at a peak academic academy (with a full-ride scholarship that includes boarding). And Viktor's a responsible clever child that just about anyone would want. But he's also argumentative and stubborn as hell and does move out of home as a teenager to do something his parents didn't want him to do.

So Silco, not breaking the cycle in this instance, tells Viktor the same "one day you'll end up with a child just like you and you will understand my frustrations" curse his parents told him. And that child is Amaranthine.

Its 2am and I just saw a hunter and flapjack edit that made me cry- my heart just hurts for hunter so much as is for all the things belos has put him through. And to think that even after hunter runs away that he still hurts makes me so incredibly upset.

I don’t know why I sympathize with hunter specifically (although i have cried over so many other toh characters) but I just can’t stop thinking about the fact that he’s just a kid. He didn’t deserve any of that and it’s only going to get worse before he gets some peace (because im like halfway through season 2- ik what happens and how the show ends btw)
