dressed elegantly. this will never leave my head. the implications of this.
because geralt and his company, they saddled up, left beauclair, travelled through mountains and frozen blizzards and downpours and muddy sod for two to three months. you need to pack outfits for that. you need to plan your gear.
what was the rest of the company wearing? what did they pack for this long journey? they packed practically, dressed warmly for the frozen journey of january, february, march. geralt wore a wolf-skin cloak, a scarf, a shawl… milva wore a fox-fur kalpak, angoulême wore a hat with a pompom and a sheepskin coat. cahir’s dress isn’t mentioned, but he must have been dressed similarly, because he rubs his hands briskly together and were he not dressed warmly he otherwise would have frozen to death. regis’ dress isn’t mentioned, but it is mentioned that he’s immune to the freezing temperature. so, i mean, it doesn’t matter what he’s wearing in this scene, maybe a regular outfit.
but at stygga. dressed elegantly.
so you’re telling me that. regis packed his things in preparation for their flight from beauclair, went to his quarters after geralt explained to him the satisfactory reasons they were leaving, and went,
“alright, time to prepare for this long and dangerous journey that will conclude in a great clash between our forces and the kidnappers of ciri. the end of our quest. the final journey. and a dangerous road awaits us, with snow still blocking the passes, frost and white all around. a grand fight and conflict awaits us. what gear should i prepare, what should i wear for this expedition, what kinds of clothing should i pack.”
and then he went:
“you know, i want to look fucking good ✨ when we get there 💅🏻🦇”
imagine the final preparation before they approach castle stygga. geralt sees the castle hewn out of the cliffside, effortlessly noticing every detail from far away, seeing like an eagle with his mutated eyes. and like an eagle, compelled to swoop down and snatch vilgefortz like a fish. ordering the company forward, declaring they’ve made it. this is the moment they have all been waiting for. everyone has been waiting such a long time for this. they prepared everything.
they wait until midnight. angoulême eagerly unsheathes and whets her long sabre, swings her axe around with predatory glee. cahir fits the plate armor and winged officer’s helmet he scavenged from a small nilfgaardian dispatch that they ran into extorting caravista for tax. milva tightens the same worn, polished leather bracer that she’s always had on her left arm, and mutters as she fixes her spiralled arrow fletchings over boiling water. geralt, with nothing left to do, paces and breathes, wondering where the hell regis has gone.
just then, regis walks out from behind an outcropping of rock, eyes glinting with cat-like light, in his “elegant” outfit, absolutely slaying that shit, and all his friends look at him absently like. “what the hell are you wearing. where the fuck did you get that. you packed that? you planned your outfit for the final battle, you planned this outfit in advance three months ago?” to which he counters, “well, three months isn’t very long at all,” and they’re like, “this is the preparation you made? we thought you left to do some secret vampire rituals or whatever. or to reckon with yourself for the severe violence we’re about to inflict.” and he’s like “no, i just wanted to make sure i was dressed nicely for the occasion”
#witcher 3 keira metz’s ‘if i’m to die i should look smashing for the occassion’ should really go to book regis i think that’s canon for him#also my headcanon would be that he looses his hair and takes his glasses off#kind of like in a movie where a nerd girl has a glow up and walks down the staircase at the end with her glasses off and hair down#and the boy she’s dating is at the bottom of the stairs like ‘wow… i didn’t know …’#except the boy in this situation is geralt#however it’s less of a cute thing of ‘haha where’d the cute nerdy girl go’ and more of like. um. where is the kind barber surgeon i know#because if you exist quietly and sense the night around you and pay close attention to the moonlight#there are some kind of powerful unknown dark energies brewing and swirling around their group now like fog#he laughs and smiles and he does not purse his lips. and his hair is becoming tangled in the wind#and geralt’s like. who the fuck did i bring to stygga castle. lmao#angouleme: yesss slay uncle | regis: [nods head solemnly] we certainly are | angouleme: noooo like SLAYYYY 🔥🔥🔥#bruh your drip is straight fire 🔥💯#the witcher books#txt#emiel regis#regis#book: lady of the lake#headcanons

CHAPTER 6: DANCES WITH WOLVES! My Babysitter’s A Vampire! Fanfic!
Grandma Weir at first wasn’t so sure what to think of it when the idea of Courtney attending school came up in conversation. She was a little worried of the possible consequences but when they discussed it at dinner that Saturday night, Benny stood up for her cause, promising that he’d keep an eye on her. That this could be really good for her, and it’d be better than her being left at home by herself everyday for hours on end. Grandma didn’t necessarily love the idea but she had to admit that she was very proud of her grandson for stepping up and it seemed he was beginning to understand the responsibilities. So she did end up deciding to pick up the phone and make a phone call to the school that next Monday morning.
The only thing that really sucked was that since they couldn’t get any previous records for Courtney’s schooling, she didn’t have any, they had to lie and say how she’d been homeschooled up until this point but the records burnt down in a house fire. So she ended up getting enrolled at a Freshman level, and even with that there was a lot they’d have to work on if they’d want her to be even able to get away with attending the school at all…
So whenever there wasn’t some freak mission the group was going on slaying whatever supernatural monster, most of his free time Benny would come home and help teach Courtney how to read and write, some basic math knowledge, and then just as a bonus so she could survive in the house alone, taught her about how to prepare her own food like he’d promise.
And Courtney was so appreciative for it and excited, she could not wait until she was good enough to tell Benny how she’d read the entire “Space Werewolf” comic he’d given her by herself. Would definitely take her some time and hard work but she was determined to get there just as a way to thank him.
But also speaking of promises; Benny finally took her to the mall and she could get some clothes. Neither of them really understood style, but when Benny saw the men’s graphic tee section and how much of their stuff had werewolves on it like it was merch, he’d picked one up to show her, at first she’d laughed but then she actually wanted to try it on. Which Benny shooed her away from because that was probably kind of a weird and bad idea, if anyone somehow got any suspicions having it plastered on her clothes probably wouldn’t help, and wouldn’t look too good either. Benny knew that much, that was the section he knew Ethan and Rory to shop in and they were trying for her to actually resemble a teenage girl.
So he led her there. Honestly neither of them really had an idea of what to even grab, they kind of just looked at what options for colors would look good with her hair, and while not innocent in any shape or form, Benny did just kind of see stuff that he knew other girls to wear at school and recognized some of the type silhouettes and how they looked on the girls bodies and how he’d found them attractive, so when all else failed he’d grab something like that.
And then it just kind of turned into one of those cheesy movie scenes of the guy waiting on the girl he likes, as she went to the try-on rooms at the couple of stores they visited. Sitting on the little plush couches and maybe a couple times trying to not entirely creepily but just glance and see if he could get a peak of her while she tried the stuff on, and then almost a montage of her coming out and her asking if she looked okay in the various items, which he always would say yes to as she to him always did. More than just okay….
And he’d always have to snap himself out of it in between outfits and yelling at himself in his head. It wasn’t like this was a date...was it?
No...right?
Later in the night Grandma reminded Courtney that she hadn’t forgotten about that potion she was making for her, trying to get her memories back. But honestly at this point, she wouldn’t say it but she kinda just hoped that it’d never get completed because she didn’t really want them back, not entirely. Yes, she wanted to know about her family and see them again and try to explain to them the situation and why she couldn’t go back entirely, but she didn’t want to know the events that transpired to bring her here in the first place, so it’s safe to say that she was conflicted.
But Grandma did admit to struggling with it a little bit so with that she smiled, giving Courtney more time…
Besides, she wasn’t ready to tell Benny yet about what she’d seen.
Yeah she had to admit things were going pretty well now. It's been a few weeks and they’d definitely gotten to bond and get closer, with him helping her with her learning and everything. But yet again, it’d been going on a few weeks now, at this point and neither did either of them bring up that moment between them from her first couple days, or did another come up between them when they’d gotten that close again for another to possibly.
It seemed to Courtney that Benny was purposely trying to keep a little bit of distance between them at all times and it made her wonder if she’d gone too far before. Anytime that she had to scooch her chair in, he’d back his away from her. Anytime she threatened to close the space between them when standing at their lockers, or at home, even with his friends, it was like he’d cringed away from her if she even threatened to take a single step closer. Rubbing at the back of his neck and looking at her awkwardly. Or maybe the floorboards could really be that interesting?
And thus got her started back on picking at the skin underneath her nails, a bad habit from whenever she’d be nervous, or itching at her skin like she’d gotten a rash.
Speaking of being nervous; Courtney hadn’t been able to make herself transform since that night either. Seems it must’ve just been that she was able to figure it out in the heat of the moment with her emotions being so strong, but whenever she’d try to just do it casually at home, try to channel the power and become the wolf again, she’d always fail. The most that she’s been able to manage was once when she got as far as to make a few patches of hair start prickling up onto her arms, so she knew she had to be heading in the right direction, but just nothing was ever enough yet to push it all the way. And she just hated this feeling, like everything was making her insecure lately.
It seemed the only constant positive she had now was Rory always being around. He could be annoying sure; but he was the only one that straight up accepted her out of the get go. Maybe his intentions weren’t the best, but he didn’t judge her right away for what she was even though being a vampire, he was one of the ones with the most reason too. He could treat her how Erica still does. Alongside showering Benny’s grandma constantly kept stock of that potion to help keep Courtney’s canine scent under control, but even still Erica still made comments about her stench. She never would react not wanting to cause a fight but it did still hurt her feelings especially being that the only ones that seem to want to combat Erica for the nasty things she says and does; are again Sarah and Rory. Courtney understands that Ethan may still not be in love with having her around, but again in these moments Benny wouldn’t exactly speak up for her, but again just choosing to simply ignore it and stare at the floor in the awkwardness of the moment.
But Rory didn’t do that, whenever something mean was sad about her while Rory was around; he’d come to her defense. He always made really cheesy jokes or told stupid stories that always seemed to get Courtney blushing and laughing. He was becoming her best friend and she was so very thankful for him too. So much so that the rest of the group kinda always wondered if there was actually something more between them behind the scenes. But on Courtney’s end there really wasn’t. There couldn’t be thanks to her imprinting.
He was just always around to talk to and be kind in her moments of need, he’d always pretend to be this chivalrous knight, while she was this high princess or queen that he needed to cater to her every whim. Or it was just as simple as whenever her and Benny seemed to be going through a bit of a rougher patch and she’d be worried about not being enough for her grades, Rory would always want to jump in to try and help her study because he could see how important it was for her to do well, and he also didn’t want her to get thrown out of White Chapel either so, he did what he was able. Or she would also lose her spot on the football team..
***
Remember that story that Rory was trying to tell Benny and Ethan?
It was during that first day’s gym class, Rory had encouraged Courtney to want to play with them, although she was definitely nervous. But she did go to play and for a little while it was just some mind numbing fun, the girls kinda just found it stupid and couldn’t care less about “waste of time” but Rory and her were smiling so wide they were having a blast.
To Rory it felt like the first time he’d had someone in his life who just seemed so genuinely so happy to be around him and having fun. He loved the guys and their friendship meant so much to him but he did quite often feel like he was being left out or abandoned, that they possibly didn’t like him as much as any of them did each other and so he was often left disappointed. But with Courtney he just felt this positive energy that radiated off her and her genuine smile as they had fun together. So much so that at one point of the game they decided to break their group in half and do it like teams, Eric and Sarah against her and Rory.
The girls obviously not really trying since they didn’t care, but the 2 of them didn’t care if they weren’t really in it, they enjoyed it anyways, but there was just this point when Rory threw the ball to her for “run past and make a touchdown”
Courtney threw the ball down with so much joy as she ran back and just tackled Rory. Almost knocking him down in a hug, she was surprisingly heavier than she looked, Then lifting him up above herself while screaming in glee. She was also surprisingly so much stronger as well.
“HEY! YOU NERDS!” But their celebration was cut short by some pretty meathead type jocks. A group of 3 giant guys came running up wearing their jerseys and were all suited up with their shoulder pads, helmets, and mouth guards on. The one guy spitting his out to come yell at them.
“WHICH 1 OF YOU THREW THIS?” The nameless jerk screamed loudly, held up their football, it was definitely a dinky, little kids, type football compared to their actual ball, but they must’ve accidentally somehow interrupted their teams practice. Rory, trying to be cool, just took the credit for the mistake and was actually trying to be nice to them and apologize but they just laughed at him and were being so snarky and rude.
“WELL YOU NEED TO WATCH WHERE YOU’RE THROWING NERD! YOU INTERCEPTED MY PASS!” And the guy took off his helmet just long enough to spit on the ground right in front of where Rory stood and throw the football back at him really hard, being a vampire it didn’t hurt him like it would’ve if he wasn’t and he did catch it but that was enough to charge Courtney up just a little bit and her eyes started glowing, but not sparkles, more like a blue flame and she snarled her teeth a little at them to which they just laughed.
“OH LOOK AT HER! THINKS SHE’S A DOG! WHAT YOU GONNA DO PRINCESS?!” The large jock continued to spit.
This just made the fire starting in her eyes all the more and her snarl really starting to come out with her canines showing through the grit of her teeth.
The boys started trying to walk away but she was just getting so annoyed and frustrated as they kept laughing at her. Thus causing her to completely lose her patience and as Rory was useless to stop her…
Courtney ran up to and did a perfect tackle on the quarterback of the football team, but with no protective measures and no injuries, of course to herself but luckily nothing more than back pain for him as well. This definitely caused Mr. G. to come by and notice what had happened...Courtney thought about how she was going to be in real trouble and maybe now she’d never get into the school, or at least she’d already ruined a potentially good student teacher relationship that she’d accidentally even started really building...
But thanks to some lucky main character syndrome, that isn’t what had happened at all..
Mr. G. loved her energy, strength, initiative. Overall he was obsessed with her drive as a student so far and he asked Courtney if she wanted to try playing with the team, she did have to be shown how to play with Mr. G. Being extra nice to her and Courtney getting a complete crash course from the team, but once she got it, turned out at least when it comes to athletics, Courtney was a real natural.
Mr. G. Thought it had all gone over so well that day actually; that he even told Courtney that as long as she could actually get enrolled in the school that he would love for her to be on the team and maybe be the new Quarterback with some practice….yeah Mr. Meathead didn’t like that one bit!
***
Since that incident and talking to Benny about it, he promised her he wouldn’t tell Grandma about her being on the sports team as it was pretty possible that if she knew she would want to shut that down and possibly take Courtney out of school altogether being that the idea was too dangerous. Too much of a risk to threaten for something bad to happen with her powers if her anger were to become too strong. But that was the reason that she absolutely loved the sport. The more she played, yes she did still have to try to keep herself in check, and Benny watched over her about it sometimes, but they both knew she had no intention of hurting anyone. Not even really hurting that jock from before aside from a tackle, so they shouldn’t have to really worry. But football was the one thing that she had where what was different about her for once was her strong suit and not what made her any worse or set her apart. Or if it did was always in a good way. And she was even starting to make a new friend in one of the guys from before named David, he’d even gone as far as to drop his jerkwad friends, preferring Courtney’s positive attitude and her aura. Although there was another reason that she just hadn’t known yet..
So that finally leads us back to now when Courtney has just gotten out of football practice, heading to her locker, still in her pants and her elbow and knee pads. On the way to grab her things and then get in the showers. Courtney’s face and outfit, aside from a black tank top that she wore underneath her jersey, are covered in dirt as she walks along the hallway, carrying the top half of her uniform, lifting off her helmet, taking out the mouthguard, and revealing her hair tied up in a ponytail underneath. She wasn't the Quarterback yet but with hope she was well on her way, but that meant that “Mr. Meathead” was still in charge for the time being and so he was sure to be extra hard on her after the previous events, so she was definitely getting exhausted and needing to take some migraine pills after this. Yawning, she turns the corner when her new best friend sees and catches up with her, throwing his arm around her shoulders, oblivious now to her new state, grass stains and smelling of sweat (it not being werewolf related this time).
“Where’d you get the popsicle?” Courtney sleepily askes Rory who in his other hand is holding and then sucking on a bomb-pop. “Wait, I thought Vampires don’t need to eat?” She asks genuinely curious after looking to make sure no one else is in close enough proximity to hear her.
“Well, technically we don’t have to eat.” Rory starts to go on a rambly tangent, to which Courtney is a little extra giggly and groggy as she tries to keep paying attention as they walk together. “But I really liked the flavors of these before and I’m really bored, and they can be a really good distraction from when we’re really craving some bl-”
Courtney starts leading Rory to where they need to turn the corner of the hall to cross to the other side to get to her locker, when they come across the other two guys of their friend group and Rory gets cut off mid-sentence by Ethan and Benny going on and on how they cried to each other, pretty much in nerd speak about their failed meeting with the yearbook committee.
“ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS!”
The intercom was going off about how tomorrow would be “Picture Day” at White Chapel.
Getting to and opening up her locker she pulls out her backpack that holds her school supplies for the day, shower essentials, and a change of clothing. Throwing it over her one shoulder and tossing in her football equipment and then reaching down to take off the pads on both her elbows and knees, throwing them in as well. Waving goodbye to all the guys until lunch, Courtney slams shut her locker and turns her head towards striding over to the showers.
“I am not even going to ask…”

Costume Competition
Pairing: Buffy Summers x reader
Request: I love Halloween too! I can't wait to see what all of October will have in store for us in terms of requests, I adore your writing :) Was hoping you would do ❝ you are literally the same thing every year for halloween. ❞ with Buffy x reader? Maybe Buffy is teasing reader and reader comes as something new and surprising to her? Thanks!
Requested by: Anon
A/N: I’ve really enjoyed writing Buffy this Halloween and I hope I’ve done her justice! Also, anon, I really hope I haven’t disappointed you with the Halloween fics! Hope you like this one !! 🖤🦇
You were sat with your friends in the canteen, laughing over a joke someone told as she looked back at you, the laughter still in her eyes. Buffy had fallen for you almost instantly and had asked you on a date one evening. It was at the Bronze, nothing fancy, but it had been so special to you both. You had been dating for a few years now and things were going really well. You trusted her and you knew she cared for you as much as you did for her. You were both heavily invested in your relationship, but you knew you could tease each other without one getting upset. You could get giddy together, getting wrapped up in your jokes.
This afternoon, she was sat sideways on your lap, happily resting as you joked around with your friends. She had looped an arm around your neck and had been landing soft kisses during any lulls in conversation. You hugged her closer to you and the others, especially Willow and Tara, grinned happily at your affection. You really did just fit.
Talk amongst your group then turned to Halloween plans. This was always a hard one to plan, as you usually all had different ideas or different parties you had heard about. It meant you all had to agree and then make sure you caught up with Xander too so that he knew what was going on.
When the four of you finally decided, hoping that Xander and Anya would agree, you then started to discuss Halloween costumes.
“I wonder what surprise you have for us this time” she chuckled, landing a soft kiss against your cheek and smiling which made you pout a little.
“What?” You ask in mock-outrage.
“Well I’m guessing the skeleton of Halloween past will be making an appearance?” She smiled, “One year I definitely saw you fight a dog to get the fake bone back onto your costume!”
“I didn’t fight the dog, I bribed it!” You confirmed which made Buffy roll her eyes at you fondly. She reluctantly slid off your lap, checking her watch for the time as the two witches laughed at your response.
“You are literally the same thing every year for Halloween” Buffy smiled, kissing your cheek before skipping off to her college class, “Just, make sure you wash it before you wear it - that thing belongs in the ground!” She called over her shoulder at you, making you huff.
But, in that split second, you had an idea. You were going to come up with the best, most amazing costume that may even surprise your lovely girlfriend.
“You’ll see!” you called after her but she was out of earshot, “I’m gonna win you over with my costume this year!”
You turn back to Willow and Tara who didn’t have a class either and as you started rubbing your hands together wickedly, “I’m so gonna show her. I’m gonna prove her so wrong!” You smiled villainously, plotting your next move.
“Why are you speaking like an evil person?!”
“Because, my dear Willow, I am going to win this Halloween so hard she won’t know what hit her!”
“But you’re her partner it isn’t a competiti-”
“One day you’ll understand, Will! This is a competition and I will be winning – you’ll see!” You ensured as Willow and Tara shared a look as you started scribbling ideas down in the back of one of your notepads.
Two hours later, Willow had caught up to Buffy on her way to the dorm she shared with you. You had left Willow and Tara shouting something incoherent about fabric or something. Buffy smiled when she saw Willow who launched straight into the reason she had waited around for Buffy outside of her lesson. As both of your best friend she thought it best to warn Buffy at least.
“Uh, y/n said they’re gonna prove you wrong and win Halloween which is-”
“So not happening” Buffy cut Willow off by shaking her head and nodding. This made Willow relieved slightly, she was worried that your relationship could get a bit messy if you were trying to ‘win’ over the other. What she hadn’t realised was that Buffy was just as competitive, “I mean, my costume is gonna drop their jaw this year” she continued self-assuredly.
“Do you really feel, uh, competition is a healthy-”
“Oh, they want a competition? It is so on” She said, a gleam in her eye as she stalked up to your room and opened the door ready to trash talk you between all the kissing she wanted to do. You both enjoyed a little challenge especially over something fun like a costume for Halloween. Things were hard with the demons and the apocalypses so you both tried to inject a little fun into your lives. it was one of the reasons Buffy loved being with you, you loved and cherished her but you could turn around and mess about with her too.
You and Buffy squinted at each other before embracing softly as you usually would. She kissed you softly, telling you that she was in fact going to be the winner of Halloween this year.
Through the next week you and Buffy were sneaking around each other prepping your respective costumes. It even meant you had moved a piece of furniture in front of the door to your dorm to keep her from seeing your costume accidentally.
Thud. Thud. This told you she was at the door. The cupboard had started to move with the door with her strength.
“Y/n! Why is the door locked?!” The worry in her voice so thick you could feel it through the door, “I can’t-” she gritted her teeth trying to push the door again without splintering it.
“You can’t come in here!” You shouted quickly, trying to make sure she knew you weren’t in danger, “There’s, uh, costume everywhere!” you explained.
The items were laid out in a circle around you as you tried to visualise the final product. You were really excited for her to see it and especially for her to admit you had surprised her (and won).
“God, it’s like it’s our wedding”
“You would be so lucky!” You shouted, “Especially to have the winner of the best Halloween costume of the year on your arm!”
“Fine. Come and find me when you’re done” she rolled her eyes and walked away, secretly thinking about perfecting her own costume. She smiled as she thought about you and your excitement over Halloween. She couldn’t help that she was so fond of you but she was definitely planning on wearing something that would make you smile.
Finally, tonight was the night. It was Halloween. Buffy had, like a ninja, smuggled away her costume in a big bag and gone over to Willow and Tara’s to get changed. This left you able to get ready by yourself.
You had decided on dressing as a vampire slayer. More van Helsing than the usual slaying outfits that Buffy would wear. You were in a long trench coat, with something you knew Buffy would like on you underneath.
You finally made it to the party, Buffy and the others were already there. The live music was reverberating off the walls and everyone was in a really good mood. The collective campus had all sighed a breath of relief - as if everyone knew they would get home safe tonight.
You saw her, between the crowd. You were drawn to her, as you always were. Your heart belonged to hers and of course you were rushing to make sure she saw how much you had won Halloween.
But when you got close to her, her scent that made you feel at home, you stopped abruptly. Taking in her outfit. You were almost speechless.
Your eyes lit up as hers did, unable to believe what she was wearing. You had never thought she would wear this. She had a cape, a lacy red dress and her face was so much paler than usual. She pointed at you before walking over to you and smiling.
She was a vampire. She had actually dressed as a stereotypical vampire.
“You look amazing!” You gushed, excitedly, making her twirl.
“I thought you were trying to win, you could have made an effort” she smiled, looking down at your own outfit with a smile. Then she squinted, looking at your belt. A stake. Some garlic. You were a Slayer!
It made her laugh and shake her head. She couldn’t help taking your outfit in again, her eyes scanning your body again with a coy smile.
“So, we went for mortal enemy chic, huh?” she asked, her voice a little muffled.
“A vampire and a slayer, you know people will talk” you giggled, so pleased at how this had worked out. You wrapped your arms around her and began to kiss her, but she stopped you, pulling away. She reached into her mouth and pulled some plastic fangs out.
Buffy slid her arm around your waist, pulling you closer as you cupped her face. You move a strand of her hair out of the way, landing several kisses against her soft lips. You were both in the centre of the room. There could have been nobody in the room though, the anticipation of your competition dying down as you just wanted to show her your appreciation for he costume. Nobody was actually looking except Tara and Willow who just looked a little bemused.
“Let them” She smiled into the kiss. Your lips gliding over the other as she started to tip you and kiss your neck. She couldn’t take it seriously though and started to laugh into the side of your neck. You were so happy with her you could cry. With laughter. When you broke the kiss and managed to calm down, you looked over to Willow who had been watching and you winked.
You really had both won this Halloween. However, throughout the night you would ask unsuspecting guests who had the best costume in the hopes of finding out who had truly won Halloween.

The volturi go throw a Halloween ball one shot
********************
Me and heidi were best friends , we have been planning this party since january . We were planning on dressing up sexy to tease our mans , heidi loved the outfit she picked out for me and honestly ... Fuck yeah i love it too ! Felix would freak out if he saw me party in this ! Me and heidi were getting ready in her room for the ball and we put our costumes on and we did our make up ! For the first time felix and demetri were gonna dress up for this years ball for the first time in centuries , so we were excited to see what they were gonna be . We took about two hours because we took turns showering and doing out make up in hair so you know if things break out heh ;)
" Alright we are all done , how do you feel y/n ? "
" I feel like a slut ... But its okay because halloween is one day if the year were we can dress like sluts and no one can say something about it because its halloween ! "
" Damn right y/n , did you hear what jane and alec were gonna dress up as ? "
" No what ? "
" Jane is gonna be little red riding hood and alec was gonna be a police officer "
We both bursted out laughing and then we hared a knock on the door .
" Are yall done ? The ball is about to start and you guy's are on tour duty "
Chelsea questioned and we opened the door and she stepped inside and she was shocked
" Wow you guy's look spectacular "
" So do you you look scandalous "
We all bursted out laughing and then we just headed out to our stations before the party started but we noticed felix and demetri were walking so we just stopped and got infront of their way and they just stopped and i felt felix's eyes on me undressing me and eye fucking me so we just pretended like we did not notice and we kept giggling .
This was my costume
This was heidi's
As we were walking by we saw chelsea and afton dress up in a couple costume .
" Looking good girls "
" I know right renata ? Y/n slays that costume "
" Has felix seen you yet y/n "
" No not that i think so im sure he would not have a problem with it afton "
" heidi you look great "
" Thanks chelsea "
We were walking when suddenly i feel a cold hand cover my mouth and pull me into a room and i see it was felix .
" shit you scared me ! "
" Where do you think you are going like that !? "
" .... To my station ? .. "
" Don't play dumb , guy's are gonna be all over you ! Especially if you are in charge if the tours "
" Aw is my nugget afraid ? "
" Not afraid , just don't want another man's eyes on you y/n , you are mine and only mine i will not share you with another man you hear me ? "
" Loud and clear babe , don't worry i won't let anyone touch me the way you do "
" I trust you , i just don't trust those fuckers "
A laugh came out of your mouth and you kissed his cheek before the both of you went to y'all's stations. Felix was with demetri checking the hallways in case if someone was planning something , you were in charge of tour duty with heidi . You gave the tour to the Cullen's , the Egyptians , the denalis , and the irish coven . Heidi gave tours to the Texas coven , the japanese coven , the Swedish coven , and another one i can't remember the name of . As i was walking with heidi we saw felix and demetri flirting with some sluts , the sluts were all over them , i was deeply jealous so me and heidi decided to play the game as well .
" Treat us like a game , we will show y'all how its played "
We went to the party and everyone was dancing on the floor . Heidi then went to the DJ station where Matthias was playing songs and she whispered to play a song .
" Y/n this is your time to get on the floor , you are the one with a big ass and big tits and i know you know this dance so get out there and kill it . Chelsea is making sure she brings felix and demetri here so he can see you burst those moves . "
" Fuck im scared ! Which song is it ? "
Then the song starts playing and everyone gets crazy and im in love with this song and i saw chelsea coming in with felix and demetri and my adrenaline went high and i started dancing to WAP by cardi b . Heidi and the others where screaming hyping me up .
Heidi started screaming my name and felix just stood there frozen with afton , Demetri , and matthias were teasing him , he was shocked and furious at the same time . He did not like the idea of other guys seeing his mate dance like that and having boners caused by his mate .
Once the song was over they started playing What makes you beautiful by one direction and my squad of girls started dancing .
Girl squad !

**************************
We were the life of the party and everyone loved us , the guards were staring at us and some of them were amused . Chelsea dragged afton in the dance floor and he started jaming with us and he told me " Felix is gonna kill you "
I pretended to be dumb and act innocent like i did not know what i did . I then felt like getting some fruit punch next to the throne room entrance door when i look to my left and i see heidi and chelsea with wide eye's covering there mouths looking at me at a distance and staring like something is behind me then i feel some one lift me up and run full vampire speed . We arrived at me and felix bedroom and he locked the door and i gulped , i knew it was felix i hared a growl escape from his mouth so i ran to hide in the bathroom with my heels on but i was no match for the strong executioner vampire .
" Oh no you are not running away from me now just yet ! "
" Wait what did i do !? "
" What did you do ? Don't act all innocent now just minutes ago you were there dancing your heart out in the stage catching the eye of every male vampire in the world ! "
" Okay look i admit i got a bit carried away , but i did not let anyone touch me ask heidi ! "
" But you still were the cause of boners in the damn party "
" Sorry ... "
" Oh that look is not gonna get you out of this one y/n , You will learn how to be a nice well behaved little girl once im done with you "
He started to unbuckle his pants and i became exited but a part of me nervous , he was for sure gonna break me in half ! I tried to run away once again but felix put a hand on my throat and his eyes became dark , he then let go and ripped my costume apart revealing the nice sexy black panties and bra i had on and he had a smirk and he ripped his shirt off and pushed me to the bed pinning me down like a lion who was about to eat his meal .
" You deserve no mercy y/n you played with fire and now you will get burned , i will go rougher than i ever went on you in my entire life "
" Fee ? "
I stutter
He then slips his huge member on me deep and i let out a moan . he then pounds on me faster and deeper than he had ever done . I hold on to the bedsheets like if my life was depending on it .
" Fee felix , im gonna cum ! "
" Don't cum y/n im warning you ! "
He starts pounding on me harder it felt like a train had hit me between my legs and now he managed to make my eyes and head roll back .
" felix i can't ! "
" You are not allowed to cum until i say so ! "
He then stopped and kissed my neck leaving behind some hickeys the size og quarters and down to my breasts , he was now sucking on them and pulling them while his dick was on me .
" This is my territory and ill make sure everyone else acknowledges it "
He then made a huge hickey on my sweet spot that caused me to moan and he just sucked harder and deeper until it bruised . He then went at it again and this time i was cumming for reals this time.
" Felix i can't anymore !! "
" Fuck it , ugh baby you are so fucking good ! Cum for me baby girl ughhhh "
We both came at the same time and we screamed each other's names out loud . I was now in my bed left exhausted when felix came on top of me and choked me once again .
" Do not play with fire y/n because you will end up burned ! "
" What's the fun in that fee ? "
A smirk came to my and he let out another growl and his eyes darken once again .
" You naughty little - "
" Hey you both im sorry to interrupt but we are about to announce an announcement , aro wants both of you to be present "
It was master marcus
" Yes master marcus ! We will be there immediately ! "
We started getting dressed again thank god i had a second costume of the same one and once felix saw me change back in it he let out another growl and his gaze burning behind me .
" We are not done y/n , after the party you will be punished for having a pretty smart ass mouth , let's see if you can be a smart ass when you are choking on my dick "
" We will see ;) "

Character Questionnaire: Merrinyn Delorsath
BASICS -
1. Height?
5′5″. (She is of average height. At least in her former settlement.)
2. Eye colour?
Black. (It’s actually dark blue.)
3. Do they need glasses?
No. (That doesn’t stop her from wearing one whenever she feels like it.)
4. Scars and birthmark?
None. (It’s hard to get scars when you’re always far from the action, drowning in books. She did get a paper cut a few days after leaving her old settlement, settling for the surface to learn more about this part of the world, though that amounted to nothing more than a few minutes of annoyance.)
5. Tattoos and piercings?
None.
6. Right or left handed?
Right-handed. (For a time in her youth, she instead she was ambidextrous. That was until she figured out the word she was looking for was “amphibious”.)
7. Any disabilities? Physical or mental.
None. (She can’t pronounce the letter “R” if it’s in the last syllable of a word, as in “wafer” or “paper”, ending up either mispronouncing it as the letter “W” instead, as in “wafew” or “papew”, or accidentally speaking in a British accent. Don’t tell her I told you this. She’s very sensitive about her rhotacism.)
8. Do they have any allergies?
None. (...though she once almost died after eating crab. That was most likely due to improper cleaning of the food. It never happened again. Strange.)
9. Favourite colour?
Seafoam Green. Or blue. (She also likes pink.)
10. Typical outfits?
Whichever works, really. I prefer clothing that would not impede my mobility over clothing that’s all for show. (She used to wear simple sleeveless, collarless, pants-less garments made of coral, see below, until she moved to the surface-world where a kind old lady gave her common clothes for free because she looked “cold” and “very naked”. Still, she tends to rip out the sleeves and collars and even pant-legs of her clothes whenever she feels like it, usually when she’s near the water and there’s no tedious socializing to be had.)
11. Do they wear any makeup?
No. (She does, but only rarely and mostly during “special” occasions.)
12. What weapon do they use, if any?
Between my magic and my staff, I can be quite the formidable fighter. (She isn’t. She has also been thinking of acquiring a trident recently. Three pointed tips are better than one blunt head.)
PERSONALITY -
13. Are they more optimistic or pessimistic?
Neither. I dwell in between optimism and pessimism. Nothing is ever absolutely positive or negative. There is also the middle, and there I thrive. (Technically, she’s more optimistic, considering she’s always optimistic that each day holds new things for her to learn. She does get pretty pessimistic when things don’t go her way, though, especially if she becomes obsessed with learning about something and her progress somehow gets impeded.)
14. Are they introverted or extroverted?
Neither. I am an ambivert. (Mostly true, though she leans more towards being an introvert, as she spends more time being an introvert, with all her research and reading; however, she doesn’t get drained as much when she has to be an extrovert, though she tends to avoid opportunities where she has to be one.)
15. What are their pet peeves?
When someone interrupts my research on anatomy by slaying the creature I am to observe. *very audible sigh* Brutes... (She also can’t stand people who can’t wait in line, even though she herself hates lines.)
16. What bad habits do they have?
Someone once said I’m terrible with making friends, though to be fair, I’m here to study and learn, not to make friends. (She spends way too much time with her books and research and not enough time connecting with real people. It’s uncertain whether this is because she’s such an obsessive sage or it’s just a triton thing.)
17. Do they have any phobias?
I fear nothing. Fear only exists when one does not understand something. I seek to understand everything. I do not fear. (Insects, especially flying insects, specifically cockroaches. She thinks they’re gross and they always have the high ground when it comes to the element of surprise. She’d probably like them if they were larger, though, since she’d at least be able to keep them from entering her orifices without permission. Oh, and falling from great heights. She hates that.)
18. How do they display affection?
I don’t. Affection is unnecessary. As long as you are useful and efficient, you are. (She really doesn’t. At least, she doesn’t know how to. Even her compliments are awkward and strange.)
19. How competitive are they?
Competition is good as motivation for personal growth, but only when it motivates a competitor towards personal growth. (She isn’t as competitive as others are, though it’s mostly because she’s a triton and tritons don’t really consider surface dwellers as competition. At least, that’s what she believes.)
20. If they could change one thing about themselves, what would it be?
No response. (It differs on a daily basis, more like it adds up, but she doesn’t take to it like changing herself because she doesn’t like herself. It’s actually more of changing something here and then something there to unleash the full potential of her existence. Like having eyes that see better in the deepest dark or gills that can allow her to safely breathe in any environment. It’s alteration in the spirit of evolution, not alteration because of emotions.)
21. Do they have any obscure hobbies or routines?
Is collecting forks an obscure hobby? (It is.)
BACKSTORY -
22. What are the names and ages of their close family members? Parents, siblings, etc.
My father’s name is Mernes and my mother’s name is Erryn. I have one older brother, Jharvas, and no other siblings.
23. Is their family alive and are they still in contact with them?
Yes, they are all alive and well. My father and my mother live together back home while my brother has also set out to, according to him, find himself. I’m certain he’s simply pursuing the vampire woman again. Men have never been quite as smart as us. (Her brother is indeed with a female vampire but he’s not pursuing her. They’re working together, trying to make a life with each other.)
24. Where are they from? City, nation?
I’m from the sea, the depths of which no surface dweller may survive. (Her settlement is within the oceans east of Hegaehend, far east. They call it the City of Sh'lafijn, though others simply refer to as Marai.)
25. Did they have a childhood best friend?
I had childhood friends, though I don’t think it wise to select from them a singular best. (She does. Her name was Dhorimyn. They’ve lost contact over the years. The last she’s heard of her, Dhorimyn had left their settlement for parts unknown.)
26. Have they had any pets?
I had a pet shark named Kadita. (They’re dead now.)
27. Did they grow up rich or poor? What were their living conditions like?
We used to move a lot when I was but a young girl. It took my parents a while to settle down in a place of our own. We were neither rich nor poor. We were in the middle.
28. What is their educational background?
I went through formal schooling, learned from the greatest mentors of my settlement, and grew into a fine sage. I learned more on my own than I did with anyone. (She’s not kidding. Her curiosity actually led to her amassing more knowledge about things outside of their settlement than the “greatest mentors” of their settlement, which were the only 10 triton scholars of their settlement.)
29. As a child, what did they want to be when they grew up?
I always wanted to be a scholar, and now, here I am. (At one point, she also wanted to be a kraken. She thought having more limbs would be efficient. She was three.)
30. What advice would they give to their younger self?
If I ever, for some strange reason, meet my younger self, I would simply tell her to continue swimming towards her current path. She will become me, and I am the best she can ever be. (We’ll agree to disagree.)
31. Growing up, were they ever bullied or were they the bully?
I was never bullied. I never bullied anyone. I just didn’t have the time. All my focus were on my studies and my research. (She was bullied. For being too absorbed in her studies. She was often referred to as the “teacher’s suckerfish” by the other children. To this day, she still thinks it was a compliment because “a suckerfish assists its host by feeding off of its parasites.” She wasn’t wrong.)
32. Who do they look up to/who is their role model?
No response. (She currently doesn’t look up to anyone, especially since she’s out of the sea and she takes to surface dwellers as subjects to study, not mentors to put on a pedestal. She used to look up to an older mentor from her settlement but he died after trying to “befriend” a female shark as a male shark, so that was that. It’s a long story, and it’s not what you think.)
PRESENT -
33. Do they currently have a place of residence?
I rented a small place for me and my...friends in Arx, at the Whale Water Port. It’s close to the water, plenty of fish, and has access to several libraries and universities. It’s the best place for me here on the surface. (Remember the kind old lady who gave her free clothes because she looked “very naked”? That became her landlady. It’s a good place for someone living “alone”.)
34. What is their most treasured possession?
My most treasured possession? I suppose the letter from my late colleague could fill this role. For now. At least until I find the answer to his question, and I will. Eventually. (She’s not as into possessions as most people are, so having a treasured...item isn’t on her radar. That should change once she gets a particular trident, though, and maybe a particular cloak and a particular decanter to boot. Maybe.)
35. What is their drink of choice?
I don’t drink that much, but I seemed to have developed a taste for the drink called Bilgewater. It reminds me so much of home. (Bilgewater is of course the bluish-brown, sometimes jet black, concoction that's made by soaking the inner organs of various sea creatures soaking in a fermented brine and then running them through a sieve to remove the bones and viscera. It's usually on most tavern's menu for at least 5 copper pieces, or you can ask your friendly neighborhood fisher to brew you one for the same price. The only real side effect of this drink it that the lingering taste of rotten, brackish seafood remains on the palette for a few hours.)
36. Which king/queen are they loyal to, if any?
None have sought me out yet, so I’m loyal to none. That should change if any reach out and we find ourselves agreeing in our principles. (So long as she get to do her research, she’s not very picky on a monarch to side with, but only if completely necessary. She’d rather not get drawn to unnecessary conflict if they can avoid them.)
37. Have they ever killed anyone?
No response. (In every attempt at progress, there will always be a casualty or two. Maybe even three. It is rarely intentional, however.)
38. What was their last promise and did they keep it?
I promised my brother I’d stay with our parents, keep them safe... (She could not keep that promise.)
LOVE -
39. What was their first kiss like, if they’ve had one?
It was...wet. And pretty sloppy. The things we do to satiate our curiosity, right? (Of course it was wet. She was underwater. It was mostly sloppy because it was their first kiss, and her “research” partner was understandably nervous, especially since she secretly liked Merrinyn. They never spoke of it again, mostly because Merrinyn concluded that it was not a fruitful experiment and Dhorimyn decided to keep her secret her own.)
40. Are they in a relationship/have a love interest?
Love is an unnecessary distraction that I cannot currently afford. (She is too busy with her research to consider a relationship, any kind of relationship, at the moment.)
41. Have they ever been in love?
Like I said, an unnecessary distraction. (She has not, though she believes she has.)
42. Have they ever had their heart broken?
No response. (Numerous times: When her pet shark Kadita passed away, when her older brother Jharvas left them in pursuit of a vampire, when she slowly lost contact with Dhorimyn, and when her favorite mentor died to sharks while in the form of a shark.)
SPIRITUALITY - 43. Do they follow a god, if so who?
I don’t follow gods. I don’t have faith in them as much as others do. I only have faith in myself, in what I can see, and in what I can prove. (That said, she does appear to admire both Habbakuk and Melora, especially the latter whose stories and lore she views as quite inspiring.)
44. What do they think happens to them after death?
I cease to exist and my body decays to join nature and the sea. That’s it. That’s all there is to it.
45. What is their spirit animal?
A kraken. Definitely a kraken. (She’s more like a dolphin, but okay.)

It’s party time! Will Katniss survive her first solo mission? Will the others? Let me know your thoughts!
[ff] or [AO3]
4.
It didn’t occur to Katniss that wearing the same worn-off pants and threadbare long-sleeve shirt she had been wearing all day to a party was probably not the norm until Madge’s car stopped next to the curb and she spotted the raspberry pink frilly dress the other girl was wearing. She had told her friend to meet her near the school because she didn’t want Madge to come to the trailer park. First because Haymitch had been making her even more paranoid than she already was and then because Madge, for all her social awkwardness and lack of a clique, was the mayor’s daughter and Katniss was a little ashamed to let her see just how bad her home was.
“Am I overdressed?” Madge asked as soon as Katniss climbed in her car.
The girl looked nervous. Katniss supposed she hadn’t been to more parties than she had. Madge usually kept to herself at school.
“I think I’m the one who’s underdressed, don’t worry.” she told her. “You look pretty.”
“Thanks.” her friend beamed. “I love your hair.”
Katniss reached for the complicated braids pinned close to her skull with ambivalent feelings. It was one of those days when Aster remembered she was their mother and, upon learning she was going out, she had insisted on doing her hair. Prim had been so happy to see their mom up that Katniss hadn’t protested, knowing that her sister would inevitably be crushed later when she would give in to the depression again.
“Thanks.” she muttered.
It didn’t matter that she wasn’t dressed to impress. She was going only to make sure no vampires crashed the party and that was the only thing that counted. The pants were loose enough to conceal two stakes and, per Haymitch’s instructions, she had a knife strapped to her ankle. She would have felt better if she had been able to bring her bow but, as her Watcher had pointed out, it wouldn’t have been very inconspicuous.
“Here.” Madge said suddenly, taking off a golden pin from her dress. “Wear this.” Katniss tried to protest but her friend wouldn’t hear of it. “No, take it. Keep it, even. It’s my aunt’s.”
The round pin was shaped like a bird perched on an arrow. She wasn’t much for jewelry but it was pretty and it did make her outfit a little less shabby.
“Won’t she mind?” she asked.
Madge started the car, apparently not in any hurry to look at her anymore. “She died.”
“Oh… Sorry.” she winced. “I can’t keep it, then. You should…”
“I want you to have it.” Madge insisted. “For luck.” The girl glanced at her with a brave smile. “A token of friendship.”
Katniss smiled back.
The car drive was less awkward than she had feared it would be. She wasn’t a great talker and neither was Madge usually but her friend looked both really nervous and really excited by the prospect of a party. From what she said and didn’t say, Katniss concluded her parents were really strict about letting her out at night but, given what she now knew, she didn’t see how it was bad. She had been very strict with Prim about the hours she kept too lately.
“Is your friend Gale coming?” Madge asked as they drove down the long narrow road that led to the hotel. The woods stretched on either side of the car and, despite herself, Katniss peered at the darkness outside in case…
Haymitch had been trying to hone her detection skills. She was very good at hunting, which helped, but this wasn’t about tracks, this was about her reaching out with a sixth sense she wasn’t sure really existed and determining how many vampires were around her and where. She sucked at vampire detection. She was pretty sure she didn’t have that sixth sense he kept berating her about.
“No clue.” Gale hadn’t been in touch and she hadn’t gone out of her way to contact him either. She was still a bit miffed. And the fact that he seemed to use his little brother as a source of information wasn’t helping matter. She had told Prim not to talk to Rory about her but she could tell her sister had been a little confused by the unusual request.
“Can I ask…” Madge hesitated. “Are you and Gale… together?”
“No.” she protested at once. “Why does everyone think that?”
Madge glanced at her and back at the road. She was going ten miles under the speed limit. She was either a careful driver or she wasn’t sure she really wanted to arrive to that party. The closer they got to the Capitol, the strongest Katniss already regretted making the decision to go. The prospect of being stuck in a place packed with people she didn’t know and who would only be concerned with getting drunk or getting laid wasn’t a fun one.
Vampires, she reminded herself.
“He’s… He’s a little in love with you, Katniss.” the girl offered frankly. “Haven’t you noticed?”
“He’s not.” she scoffed. “We’ve been friends for years.”
Madge laughed but she didn’t think the girl was making fun of her. “And I thought I was bad with people… Peeta is in love with you too, for the record.”
“Peeta isn’t in love with me. He’s just… weird.” she corrected.
Madge’s smile was knowing but she shrugged. “Whatever you say.”
The huge imposing hotel appeared around a corner of the road. Every window was lit, they could hear the music over the sound of the engine, the air seemed to pulse with its beat… The building shone like a beacon in the darkness.
There would be vampires alright.
“Listen.” she urged as Madge looked for a parking spot. “Be careful tonight, okay? Don’t follow anyone you don’t know and don’t let anyone take you to the woods.”
“Don’t worry about me.” Her friend flashed her a smile. “I’m always careful. You should be careful too.”
Katniss nodded her agreement and squeezed her hand with a feeling of foreboding far too strong to be dismissed. She had felt the same thing when she had left Haymitch’s house earlier. He had walked her all the way to the end of the driveway. He had reached for her, then, but had aborted the gesture at the last second. She had wondered if he had wanted to hug her and had given up on it just because it felt too much like a goodbye.
But she would be fine, she told herself firmly as she got off the car. She couldn’t die tonight because she had promised Prim she would take her out to the mall in the morning. Her clothes were becoming too small and she had a little extra-cash because slaying vampires, at least, paid well – or Haymitch paid her well but she had decided she didn’t want to look at that too closely or she would have been forced to refuse, somehow he always seemed to know when she needed money.
It seemed like the whole school and then some was there.
A few people were scattered in the meadow that stretched around the hotel, laughing and joking together, clutching red cups.
The music, the sound of voices, the number of people… It aggressed her. It was like slamming against an invisible wall. Repeatedly.
It was worse inside. The hotel was huge but people remained packed together, crowding the large rooms and making it impossible to turn without bumping into someone. She wasn’t sure how she was supposed to find vampires in the middle of this. She tried the sixth sense thing but her other five senses were already overloaded so…
There was a dancefloor in one of the rooms and it was even more crowded than the rest of the place.
Never before had she asked herself what she was doing there so many times in such a short amount of time.
“I don’t think I like parties after all.” Madge told her – shouted to be heard over the music, really.
She could relate.
They awkwardly hung out with their backs to one of the walls, watching the other teenagers with no idea of what they should have been doing. That was how Katniss noticed the girl flirting with one of the guys from the football team.
Something was off with her.
She looked too old to be there and there was something to the way she moved…
Katniss frowned and watched her. When the girl gestured she wanted to go outside, the guy immediately nodded with an eager smile. Katniss mumbled a hurried excuse to Madge about how she needed to go to the bathroom and followed at a distance. This, she knew how to do. It wasn’t too different from hunting.
The vampire didn’t bother dragging her prey too far into the surrounding woods, which made it easier for Katniss. The girl had pushed the boy against a trunk and they were kissing. Neither of them noticed her when she slipped behind them, regretting the absence of her bow. She could have taken her from afar and without breaking a sweat.
The vampire did notice when she tapped on her shoulder though. She looked behind her in reflex and Katniss punched her before the vampire realized what was going on.
“Hey!” the guy protested.
“Get out of here.” Katniss ordered.
He grabbed her arm. “Who do you think…”
The growl coming from the forest ground got his attention and, when he caught a glimpse of the demonic face in the darkness, he let her go and ran away without even looking back.
“You’re going to regret this…” the vampire warned.
“Yeah, that’s what they always say…” Katniss sighed.
It didn’t take her long to dispatch her but, on her way back, she found another vampire. A guy, this time, steering a clueless cheerleader toward the back of the hotel where there weren’t any people who would interrupt them. That one didn’t give her much trouble either but she was covered in dust when she found her way back to Madge, against the very same wall she had left her.
“What happened?” her friend asked.
“I fell.” she lied.
“On your way to the bathroom?” Madge’s eyebrows lifted up and Katniss reluctantly admitted Haymitch had a point when he claimed she was a bad liar. Fortunately, she didn’t seem too interested to know what Katniss had really been up to. “I saw Peeta, he was looking for you. He’s over there with Cato…”
A chill ran down her spine.
“Cato?” she repeated.
Madge nodded. “He’s back, apparently. Weird, right? After more than two weeks…”
Weird didn’t cover it.
She searched the crowd until she spotted them next to one of the bay windows, both of them clutching a red cup. Peeta was nodding at whatever Cato was telling him, a serious expression on his face.
She took a step toward them, not sure how she was going to attract Cato out of there but certain she needed to do something now, when someone grabbed her arm. She spun around and it was a good thing Gale had reflexes because he avoided her punch but stared at her like she had grown a second head.
“What is it with you and wanting to hit me lately?” he grumbled.
“Maybe if you were less of an ass…” she retorted. “What are you doing here?”
Gale’s face closed off. “It’s an open invite party. I thought I’d check it out.”
“You hate parties.” she pointed out.
“So do you. Or so I thought.” he snapped. “But what do I know, I’m not captain of the wrestling team…”
He was captain of the archery team – a spot that should have been hers because she was better than he was – and she didn’t see how it was relevant. The mention of Peeta reminded her that she had a mission that wasn’t arguing with Gale though. She turned back toward the windows but the spot where Peeta and Cato had been standing was empty. She looked around frantically but she couldn’t see them everywhere.
“Where’s Peeta?” she asked.
“Are you serious?” Gale scoffed but she ignored him.
“He went outside with Cato.” Madge offered. Her blue eyes darted between Katniss and Gale and then she cleared her throat. “Do you want to dance?”
It seemed to have taken all her courage to ask.
Gale was still staring at Katniss with an intensity she couldn’t explain to herself. In the end, an hurt expression on his face, he grabbed Madge’s hand and tugged her toward the dancefloor. “Yeah. Yeah, I think I do.”
“Stay inside!” she shouted to them.
She wasn’t sure if they heard but she didn’t have time to make sure. She dashed outside but there was no trace of Peeta or Cato anywhere. She asked the people who were smoking and drinking in the meadow but it took her at least five minutes to find someone coherent enough to point her in the right direction.
Cato already had ten minutes on her.
She tried not to dwell on the fact that ten minutes was all a vampire needed to bleed someone dry.
She tore through the woods at a jog without bothering with discretion. She liked Peeta, she was annoyed to realize. Sure, he was wealthier than her and there was the whole charity thing but… Peeta had always been nice to her, even when she hadn’t been, and she liked him. She wouldn’t have said they were friends but she wouldn’t have called Madge a friend either until she had said it first so what did she know?
Well, she did know she really didn’t like the idea of her friends becoming vampire snacks.
Somewhere up ahead, a boy screamed.
It was good, she told herself, if Peeta could scream then he was still alive.
When she found them, Cato was wearing his game face, yellow eyes and fangs all accounted for, and Peeta was trying to keep him at a distance by waving a big branch. His neck was bleeding but so was Cato’s nose.
“Katniss, get away!” Peeta panicked when he saw her. “He’s… He’s some kind of monster!”
“You always were a little prick.” Cato spat. “I can’t believe I was going to turn you.”
That made Katniss’ blood run cold.
She liked the thought of Peeta turning into a vampire even less than she liked the idea of him becoming a snack.
“Run!” Peeta screamed again, waving his branch like a club. “I’ll buy you time!”
Cato grabbed the branch with a sigh, as if it was a huge inconvenience, and tore it out of Peeta’s hands, making him lose his balance. Katniss jumped in between them and hurled the vampire against a tree with a flying kick, pulling her stake from the small of her back at the same time.
“Now, you’re making me angry…” Cato growled.
He had rolled from his fall into a crouch and he pounced on her without giving her time to regroup or think. He was on the wrestling team with Peeta and it showed. Instinct and her relentless training with Haymitch gave her a small edge but he had years of practice she didn’t have. It only took her two minutes to figure out it would be a difficult fight and it wasn’t helped at all by the knowledge that Peeta was hovering nearby, waiting for an opening to enter the fray.
She didn’t need him to get hurt on top of everything.
“Get out of here!” she shouted at him and the second of distraction cost her dearly.
Cato’s backhand slap sent her flying in the air and she hit a tree with a huff. She was pretty sure it would have broken a normal person’s back. She was just a little stiff and sore when she got back to her feet.
“What are you?” Cato hissed, watching her a little more warily.
Preys who wouldn’t stay down weren’t common, she supposed.
“She’s the one who has been killing my minions after I went to a lot of troubles to find pretty ones.”
The woman came out of the trees on their right with two other vampires in tow. She was strikingly beautiful. Blond hair held away from her face with multiples tiny braids, blue eyes, fair skin and a pretty black dress that must have been very expensive.
Katniss suddenly understood what Haymitch meant by vampire senses because that one triggered them all. The thingling at the base of her nape was driving her crazy. And she was certain, without knowing how, that the woman was powerful and old and probably much more than she could take.
Cato had fallen back with an odd sort of deference at the vampire’s entrance and Peeta immediately rushed to Katniss’ side, the makeshift club back in his hands as if it really could be useful against any of the four vampires.
“What the hell?” he whispered.
“Vampires.” she supplied, fishing her spare stake out of her pocket and handing it out to him.
He stared at it, then back at her. “You’re joking.”
“I wish.” She tried to add some bravado to her voice but the truth was that she was terrified. When the woman moved, everything seemed to flow. A little like Haymitch when he really bothered to fight but also a lot more graceful than anything her mentor could ever hope to achieve. That vampire was a warrior. Katniss tilted her chin up stubbornly and adjusted her grip on her stake. “Who are you?”
She would have told Peeta to run if she had thought it would help but, while she was pretty sure the woman wouldn’t go after him, Cato and the two other vampires probably would.
“Your death. Slayer.” the woman mocked.
A tilt of her head and the two vampires at her side rushed to Katniss. Those didn’t have Cato’s skills and were probably still pretty new. She dispatched the first one with a few kicks and one good hit to the chest. The second one used that time to attack Peeta but his branch and his clumsy attempts at stabbing him in the heart had slowed the vampire down enough that Katniss could hit him from behind while he was distracted.
Then, of course, Cato jumped on her from the side and she was back to trying to contain him and keep an eye on the woman at the same time.
“You are a pretty one. And strong too.” the old vampire purred at Peeta. “I might keep you…”
Irritation gave Katniss the boost she needed and she used a turning kick to send Cato flying straight into the woman.
“Run!” she screamed to Peeta while the two vampires were still busy trying to untangle themselves and get up. She didn’t leave him a choice, she grabbed his wrist and pulled him along. There were crashing noises behind them and she just knew Cato and the strange vampire were hot on their heels. They emerged out of the woods panting but Katniss didn’t slow down, not until they had reached the lights flooding out of the hotel’s windows.
The music was still loud and deafening, people were still laughing and dancing inside… Here, in the meadow, nothing had changed.
She came to an abrupt stop and whirled around, forcing Peeta to turn with her because she still had a deadly grip on his wrist. She half expected to see the blonde vampire stroll out of the woods and straight to them but nobody walked out from between the trees. Everything was calm. As if nothing at all had happened.
They remained there, frozen, for several minutes, and then the stake Peeta was still clutching with his free hand fell to the ground in a dull sound. “I guess it’s really not like Twilight…”
“Katniss!” Gale called out.
She turned her head in time to see her best friend striding toward her, Madge right behind him. They were both looking at them with wide frightened eyes but Madge started running before Gale because the boy’s eyes had locked on the fingers coiled around Peeta’s wrist.
“You’re hurt!” Madge gasped, reaching for her cheek. And now that she said it and that the adrenaline was coming down, Katniss’ cheekbone started throbbing. So did her shoulder for that matter. She had landed badly on it.
“What did you do to her?” Gale hissed with a fury Katniss had never heard coming from him.
Before she could react, Peeta’s arm had been torn from her grip. Gale had grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and had slammed him against the outer wall of the hotel. The commotion attracted attention and a few boys started shouting “Fight! Fight! Fight!” like it was some sort of game.
“Let me go.” Peeta demanded.
“Let him go.” Katniss seconded in a tone that broke no argument.
Gale tossed her an incredulous look. “Are you kidding me? Did you see yourself? I swear if he touched you I…”
“Peeta didn’t hurt me.” she snapped. She wedged herself in between them and shoved Gale back. “Stop being an idiot.”
Gale stared at her, ran his hand in his hair and then scoffed. “Yeah. I guess I’m the idiot for coming to this stupid party in the first place.”
He stormed away before she could even try to answer that.
“That’s the second time you save me tonight. I feel like a damsel in distress.” Peeta commented behind her. And then he was laughing and there was a hysterical tinge to it that made Katniss wince.
“You need to go to the hospital.” Madge said quietly. “Both of you.”
“No, I’m fine.” she denied. “I need to…” Find Haymitch and tell him about the blond vampire. But what was she going to do with Peeta? The boy was still laughing. She was pretty sure Cato hadn’t drunk enough from him to make the blood loss dangerous but there were scrapes on his face and she didn’t trust him not to spill everything to the first person he saw – namely Madge. She needed to make him swear that he would keep silent. “Peeta, do you have a car? I’ll drive you home.”
He nodded, still laughing, and Katniss rolled his eyes at him. She hadn’t been that hysterical when she had found herself face to face with vampires.
“You should go home too.” she told Madge.
She didn’t want to leave her friend alone when vampires were around. Hell, she didn’t want to leave anyone when vampires were around but she needed to regroup. Playing it clever had always been the plan. Survive was rule number one. She was certain she wouldn’t survive a fight against the blond vampire.
Madge, fortunately, didn’t even discuss it. They all headed to the parking lot. Peeta had stopped laughing but he still occasionally chuckled to himself like a mad person. He handed her the keys of his SUV and she faltered for a moment because the car looked brand new and far too big. But she wasn’t going to let that stop her. She sat behind the wheel, fumbled around with the seat because Peeta was too tall and she could barely reach the pedals as it was, and waited until he had strapped himself in before turning the ignition on.
The car moved two feet and then stalled.
She started the engine again without looking at Peeta.
After three attempts, the car kept on stalling and they weren’t even out of the parking lot but at least Peeta had stopped chuckling.
“Do you know how to drive?” he asked.
There was no judgment but there was some fondness as if she was currently doing something particularly cute. She had no clue what could be going through his head and she wasn’t going to admit she had never learned how to drive.
“How hard can it be?” she retorted.
He smiled a soft smile and shook his head. “Let’s switch seats. I’m good to drive now.”
She eyed the wound on his neck dubiously but he looked calmer and alert so she shrugged her acceptance.
“Can you drop me at Haymitch’s?” she asked once they were driving down the road that led back into town.
“Haymitch?” he frowned.
“Mr Abernathy.” she clarified.
That gave him more pause than the vampire thing had earlier and, for a second, she was scared he would start laughing again. “The History teacher? Why do you want to go to our History teacher’s house in the middle of the night?”
“Because he’s my Watcher.” she sighed.
He was silent for a few minutes and then winced and shrugged. “Yeah, no… I can turn that sentence around in my head, the only way it’s making sense is creepy.”
She rolled her eyes. “Look, it’s complicated. He’s helping me with the…”
She let her sentence trail off, not sure she wanted to set him off again. And maybe he wanted to pretend none of this had happened. She would understand. People developed incredible powers of persuasion in that sort of situations.
“Vampires.” he finished. “Who are real.” She remained silent and he must have taken that for a confirmation that he wasn’t crazy because he continued. “She called you slayer… And you took down those vampires… And when did you learn to fight like that? And how long has this been going on?”
Katniss sighed and slid down her seat a little.
So much for secrecy.

Bad Eggs
Directed by: David Greenwalt
Written by: Marti Noxon
Starring: Sarah Michelle Gellar, Alyson Hannigan, Nicholas Brendon, Anthony Head, Charisma Carpenter, David Boreanaz, Kristine Sutherland, Jeremy Ratchford, and James Parks
Welcome to Episode Twelve, in which Buffy’s mum tries to teach Buffy about responsibilities like going to the library and picking up clothing.
And speaking of clothing:
Outfit 1
This is probably something I found boring as a teen but have probably worn to work as an adult.
I think I’d even wear Joyce’s outfit.
This matching of the eye colour to her shirt is wonderful. I’ve started using purple eye colour again and I feel pretty great about it. The hair is good. It seems like she has foils. Or were they still streaks? Were foils a new thing?
Outfit 2
Buffy missed the class where they get eggs and have to pretend they’re babies. I never had to do this in my high school, but weirdly felt left out because of all the times this was used in TV and books. I’m sure the Wakefield twins had to look after eggs.
Luckily she didn’t miss this beautiful jumper. I recently bought a fluffy pink jumper from a local op shop and I. Bloody. Love. It.
Brown pants again. I guess we loved them.
Hair is good.
Even in a low pony. Damn her. I’m assuming she’s just added a jacket for slaying. If I’m wrong, well... I don’t really care.
Outfit 3
CUTE PYJAMA ALERT.
I love a floral pyjama. I also love a paisley pyjama. I also just love pyjamas.
During the night the egg starts this bullshit and it kind of looks like my avocados.
They’re all called Algernon. We have a couple at work as well. Sadly they do not grow an endless supply of avocados. If only. Then we might have our smashed avocado and own a house too.
This kind of reminds me of those Sticky Hands toys.
Source: Alibaba.com
If these are anything like Sticky Hands, they’ll stick against some windows for a bit and then get fluff and dust all over them and get put in a bin.
Outfit 4
Buffy and Willow seem to have had a rough night. This may explain this look from Buffy. It’s... a lot of aubergine.
The burning question I had about these egg assignments was where they got the perfectly shaped baskets from.
I remember the jokes in this episode being pretty strong. I don’t have a strong memory of this outfit.
Outfit 5
This particular slayer patrol/make-out session begins with discussion of their future and ends with a tombstone. FORESHADOWING.
This is a cute necklace.
The egg has started its bullshit early.
I love that when faced with some nightmare insect creature even the slayer uses whatever is handy to kill it.
Good choice. Both weapon and nail colour.
CUTE PYJAMA ALERT.
Outfit 6
I feel like this is something I hated as a teen. I don’t know if I hate it now. I think the pants probably seemed too short to me. I do like the plaid. I would definitely wear Willow’s outfit any time.
I find it very hard to believe these three women are going to the same place.
I know Cordelia would hate to think she was wearing something from two years ago but she’s channelling Clueless with this and it is classic.
Pretty sure Danny Strong is credited for the first time as Jonathan in this episode.
So Buffy’s been having some troubles with these vampire douchebags, Lyle and Tector Gorch, who look like the below:
One is James Parks, son of Michael Parks. Michael Parks sadly passed away this year. You may remember James and his father as the detectives in Kill Bill vol 1. The other is Jeremy Ratchford, who was in Cold Case.
The eggs are up to a lot of bullshit. They’re basically the spawn or whatever of this big alien thing in the school’s basement and it’s using the spawn or whatever to control people and make them do shit for it, I guess.
The James Parks one is eaten by the alien thing and then Buffy is almost eaten by it too but kills it from the inside.
The Jeremy Ratchford one doesn’t like the Carrie energy coming from Buffy and, sensing she is more than a match for him, promptly fucks off. Personally, I feel like there’d be more blood. Or ink.
Outfit 7
I’m assuming this is some training gear she had stashed in the library. It’s fine.
I guess I like that Buffy is comfortable enough around Angel to wear trackies in front of him. Too bad shit is about to get VERY UNCOMFORTABLE.
Next up, a surprise for Buffy. It’s… Not great.
Until next time, Slayerettes.

Scoobies in Neptune
by lateVMlover
I began writing fanfiction in 2010 due to my obsession with Veronica Mars fanfiction. Many of you may not know that the VM in my handle stands for that show. Although it's not even my top ten favorite show, I LOVED the characters that Rob Thomas created, so I spent years writing several stories only for Veronica Mars. In fact, I've written 1,259,643 words that were solely about Veronica Mars. Then I grew bored and now almost exclusively write Buffy the Vampire Slayer crossovers. However, I've had this idea for a story percolating in the back of mind for a few years now. I've finally put it down on paper.
This story is set after BTVS season 4 and Veronica Mars season 3. It's beginning in the summer after Veronica has left for her summer internship with the FBI. I've altered some key things in the Buffyverse. Faith didn't go evil in season 3, but instead was killed long enough to activate a new slayer. Kennedy is called in her place and makes Sunnydale so unbearable that the gang decides to move away. Neptune is not too far, and Buffy, Willow, and Tara transfer to Hearst while Giles and Faith are guarding the hellmouth in Ohio. Season 4 of BTVS had some serious deviations as Spike isn't a part of the story, and Riley and Buffy were never a couple. This story will not be as plot driven as previous stories. I'm focusing more on the two worlds being thrown together and new connections, friendships, and loves developing.
Disclaimer: Obviously, I do not own either Veronica Mars or BTVS.
I will be moving this story to the crossover page after a bit. It's just been so long since I've written anything for VM that I thought I'd start with it here first. If you are unfamiliar with BTVS this story might not be for you. However, if you know the characters from the show, you should have no trouble following it as it's set entirely in Rob Thomas' Neptune world.
Chapter 1: A Fresh Start
*****Neptune*****
Buffy looked at the small house her mom had bought in Neptune in satisfaction. The one-story dwelling was so much easier to unpack than their other place had been four years ago. The square footage wasn't that different from their old home in Sunnydale, but she did have a bit more space in her room. The third bedroom, however, was on the small size. Happily, they each had their own bathroom, so Buffy had no reason to complain. The large formal dining room that their Sunnydale home had boasted was absent from this house, but it had a large kitchen that their table could fit into as long as they kept the extension out of it. Of course, the main thing the house had was a large basement that she could use to keep up her training.
Her phone rang. "Hey, Will. Are you and Tara unpacked?" she asked. "I'm finally done."
"Not even close," Willow said. "Tara and I found this amazing coffee house by campus called Java Hut, so we're totally distracted. Things are so bright and shiny here, Buffy, so we're not sure what to do."
Buffy laughed. "I know what you mean. Just being away from the hellmouth makes me feel warm and happy," she said.
"Exactly!" Willow agreed. "The reason I called was to tell you that Xander called and said that he got called in for the interview for the maintenance team at Hearst. It's in five days."
"That's great!" Buffy said. "I can't imagine not having our Xander-shaped friend around. What about Anya?"
"Anya doesn't want to leave the hellmouth or her job. Giles made her a partner in the Magic Box before he and Faith left for Ohio," Willow said.
"Doesn't she know she will have to deal with Kennedy if she sticks around?" Buffy asked.
"Well, you know Anya. She'll just tell Kennedy exactly how she feels in that special manner of hers," Willow said in amusement. "Xander did say she threatened to get a vengeance demon friend of hers to hex Kennedy if she tried ordering her around again."
When Kennedy's bullying ways had made Tara cry a month before, a big fight had broken out. Buffy had already planned to relocate shortly after Faith had died and been brought back, thus activating Kennedy the Bitch.
"We can all learn from Anya," Buffy said. Of course, Buffy was action girl. Actions speak louder, and her leaving town said all she needed to say.
"So are we going to the beach this evening?" Willow asked.
"Most definitely," Buffy said. She said goodbye after planning where to meet up and then decided to go shopping for a new swimsuit.
She took a leisure stroll and thought about all the changes that had occurred the past year. After her second month in Sunnydale, Faith had been nearly drained by Mr. Trick. Buffy had thrown Faith over her shoulder and rushed to the hospital, but Faith had flatlined almost immediately. Luckily, they managed to revive and transfuse her. At her mother's instance, Faith had spent a week recovering at their house. The experience had bonded the two slayers like nothing had before. Because Giles had allowed Faith to stay in his spare room, Buffy had been really jealous of Faith. An only child, sharing didn't come easy to Buffy.
However, Kennedy, the new sixteen-year old slayer, coming to town had united the two slayers even more. She was such a stuck-up bitch that the two older slayers just could not work with her. Luckily, Kennedy showed up after graduation and their defeat of the Mayor. For the first time ever, there were three active slayers. Faith and Kennedy had come to blows three times before Giles and Wesley decided that the three of them needed to be spread out across the country. Buffy asked to be allowed to ease out of slaying if Kennedy survived her first year on the hellmouth, so Wesley and Giles had flipped a coin to see who'd get Faith.
Faith and Giles left right after Christmas at the beginning of the new year. That meant that Faith stayed in Sunnydale long enough to seduce Buffy's psychology TA, Riley, and found out he was hiding a very big secret. The military was playing on the hellmouth, and she and Buffy knew it was not a good thing. When Faith discovered they'd chipped a newly returned to town Spike, she'd been pissed—equating it with tying up a dog and leaving it to starve to death. She was going to put him out of his misery and stake him, but Buffy decided sending him to Los Angeles for Angel to deal with was a better option.
A new town was definitely the right way to go for her and her friends.
She was hoping that the new location would work some magic on her love life because Buffy was tired of being single. She'd had the one-night stand with Parker the previous fall and that was it. The very yummy Graham had asked her out, but after discovering his entire fraternity was a front, she couldn't trust him. Now she was ready to have fun or something real. Without the burden of the hellmouth weighing her down, she was free to be a normal college student.
Her mother had decided to leave the dangers of the hellmouth and move to Neptune with Buffy. Willow had been the one to mention Hearst to Buffy. The small liberal arts college was only an hour from Sunnydale, so Buffy could easily get there if Kennedy needed a hand. Willow and Tara had been very eager to leave with Buffy, joining her at Hearst.
Giles won Faith in the coin toss and moved to Ohio with her at the beginning of the year. Although Kennedy had arrived in town with her own Watcher, the woman had been too sensitive to the dark forces radiating from the hellmouth and had asked to be relocated. Her abandonment had worked to make Kennedy even more difficult. Faith, though, was loving being back in a state with real winter as the Boston native really loved the snow Ohio had.
Buffy missed Giles a lot. Although Wesley was better as a Watcher in his second year, she hated that Giles was so far away. Talking on the phone was not the same thing. She and her friends did go to Ohio for Spring Break, though. The hellmouth was much tamer than Sunnydale, but they slayed a few vamps while patrolling with Faith.
She found a shop that looked promising and went in. Neptune had outlet shops scattered around town. The ones close to campus, though, seemed to cater to girls Buffy's age. Luckily, her new house was only five miles from campus. For Buffy, it was merely a nice walk.
"Oh, this is cute!" she said as she grabbed a summer dress. She saw three more and went and tried them on. Her dad allowed her to use her emergency credit card for school clothes, so she didn't feel guilty when she decided to buy all four of them.
Then she went to the swimsuits. A murmuring voice caught her attention, and she looked up. A girl around her age and height was looking at swimsuits with a mulish expression on her face. The attractive brunette had blue tipped hair, which intrigued Buffy as no one back home put colors like that in her hair.
"I don't know why she expects me to waste my hard-earned money on stupid crap," the girl mumbled to herself.
"I take it you don't love clothes shopping?" Buffy asked, giving her a friendly smile.
"I'd rather have a root canal," the girl replied.
"I love shopping," Buffy said.
The girl looked Buffy over and smirked. "You would love shopping," she said.
"I'm taking that as a compliment even though I feel like you didn't mean it as one," Buffy said.
"Sorry," the girl said. "It's just you're wearing one of those cool summer outfits that makes a woman look sexy without effort. Your blonde and beautiful with the long, flowing hair. Are you an 09er?"
Buffy laughed, never having had someone call her beautiful as an insult before. "I don't think so. I'm Buffy. Buffy Summers. I just moved to town," Buffy said.
"Buffy?" the girl said with a smile. "Well, I think you'll fit right in with the 09ers. I'm Cindy Makenzie, but people call me Mac."
"Nice to meet you, Mac," Buffy said. "Do you attend Hearst?"
"I do," Mac said. "Computer science major."
"Oh, my best friend Willow is a computer whiz, too," Buffy said with a bright smile. "She's going to be going to Hearst, too. You might have her in some classes."
"Another girl in the computer science program?" Mac asked, her eyes lighting up.
"Yep. If you're not doing anything later, we're going to the beach behind the campus dorms," Buffy said. "I can introduce you to her and her girlfriend Tara. They are both taking a summer class, so they got into the dorms early."
"Well, I'm leaving in the morning for my family's summer vacation," Mac said. "But I can drop by and meet your friends."
"Oh, so you're buying a new suit for the trip? That's nice. Mine's like two years old," Buffy said. "But in my old town, I seemed to go from one crisis to another and no real beach time."
Mac had to revise her initial impression of the blonde Barbie with the ridiculous name as she was way too friendly to be an 09er. Openly admitting to struggles was also not an 09er trait.
"Where's home?" Mac inquired.
"Well, I was born and raised in Los Angeles, but when my parents split up almost five years ago, I moved to Sunnydale. It's about the size of Neptune but an hour from here," Buffy explained.
"The town with the weird outbreak of laryngitis?" Mac asked, intrigued.
Buffy was surprised she knew that. "Oh, well, yes. The town had a few weird and bad elements," she said.
"I'm not sure Neptune is an improvement," Mac warned. "The 09ers rule it, and there's oodles of corruption."
As no one could ever be more corrupt than the former Mayor of Sunnydale, who turned into a giant snake and ate students at Buffy's high school graduation, she wasn't worried. Of course, she said nothing about that. "What are 09ers?" Buffy asked, frowning. Mac kept saying it like Buffy should know, and she was starting to feel stupid.
"Neptune has two zip codes, 09 and 02. 09 is where the uber wealthy live like the Kanes," she said.
"I take it you're an 02er?" Buffy asked with a grin since she found this zip code division more than a bit silly.
"Yep. Class warfare is very real in this town," Mac said.
"I can't believe it's big enough for two zip codes," Buffy said. "Sunnydale has a USC campus and still only had one zip code."
"That's probably because it wasn't full of elitist snobs that got the city to alter the town charter and give a few neighborhoods their own zip code," Mac said.
"Well, we had a real gang problem in Sunnydale," Buffy said.
"We have that here, but they're not the worst thing," Mac said.
Buffy now had to wonder if Giles was right about Neptune not being hellmouthy. Then again, Los Angeles had no hellmouth, but it had a combination of evil people and dark elements.
The girls finally stopped gossiping and tried on some bathing suits. Buffy decided on a two piece and one cute piece while Mac got a dark blue on piece, not much different than her old black one piece. She refused a red one that Buffy tried to talk her in to buying. Her reluctance reminded Buffy a lot of Willow, so Buffy was quick to like the girl with blue-tipped hair.
Buffy paid for her purchases, and Mac gave Buffy her cell phone number. Mac couldn't believe she didn't have a cell phone.
"Me and technology are unmixy things," Buffy said with a careless shrug. "Willow and Xander, my other best friend, have them, though. If I'm not home, I'm with them normally." Cell phones were superfluous in her line of work. Of course, fighting would be hell on one. Now that she was not really slaying, though, maybe she should get one.
At her confession, Mac gave her a look of horror. "You're a luddite?" she asked.
"Since I know what that word means, no," Buffy said, grinning. "Willow called Giles, our librarian, that once as he called her computer that infernal machine. I can use the computer if I have to, but Will's so much better at it."
"So why bother?" Mac asked in bemusement.
"I'm action girl. I'd rather be running or sparring or fencing," Buffy said.
"You're a jock?" Mac asked in surprise, forced again to reevaluate Buffy.
"I guess you could say that," Buffy said. "But I'm not really into team sports. I did do cheerleading in middle school and ninth grade, but I got bored with it. The cheerleaders at Sunnydale took it way too seriously," she said, thinking of Amy and her mom.
"Hearst does have a track team and a fencing club you might check out," Mac said.
"Okay, I might," Buffy said. Not having monsters to slay was going to leave her with way too much energy. "I'm not really interested in competing, though. I just like things that are physical because I have way too much energy."
Mac grinned, deciding that she liked the girl with the totally airhead name. Clearly, she was no airhead. She might resemble another pixie blonde Mac knew, but Veronica channeled her boundless energy into doing a dozen tasks in twenty-four hours rather than exercise.
"I better head home and prove to my mom that I did buy a new swimsuit," Mac said with a sigh.
"See you later, I hope," Buffy as she walked out the door with Mac.
Mac assumed the woman would head to a car, so she walked toward her own. However, as she pulled out to the road, she noticed Buffy hoofing it, carrying her two bags. Frowning, Mac pointed her green beetle toward Buffy, pulling up alongside her. She rolled down her window and called out, "Buffy, do you need a ride?" she asked.
"Oh, no. I don't live far," Buffy said with an easy smile.
"What's your address?" Mac asked.
When Buffy rattled it off, Mac looked aghast. "That's five miles! You can't walk that far! Get in, and I'll give you a ride," she said.
"It's really no big deal," Buffy said, amused at Mac's look of horror.
"I insist," Mac said firmly. Buffy shrugged and got in the car.
"Well, thanks," she said. "I walked everywhere back home."
"Your friends don't drive?" Mack asked.
"Yes, Willow and Xander have cars," she said. "Sometimes, they'd pick me up. Mom dropped me off for high school, but I always walked home. Then I lived on campus my year at USC Sunnydale. I don't even notice the walking anymore." Five miles was nothing for a slayer.
"You don't have a license?" Mac asked.
"Nope," she said. "Mom says I'm too terrifying behind the wheel and refused to teach me after I dented her car that one time."
"They have professionals that can teach you, you know," Mac said.
"Yea, one day I suppose I'll get one of those," Buffy said with a grin.
Mac laughed and shook her head. "Maybe, this summer I can show you how to drive," she found herself offering. Normally, she'd never make an offer like that to a stranger. But the idea of a woman not being completely independent bothered her.
"My friends will tell you no to that," Buffy said. "Xander and Giles both tried. Giles has taught me lots of things, but he said that the world was safer if I stayed a pedestrian." Of course, she knew it had more to do with her slayer reflexes than anything else.
Mac pulled into Buffy's driveway and looked at the modest sized home—definitely not an 09er. "I just live three blocks from here—well, my parents do. I'm home for the summer but dorming it in the fall," she shared. "I can't believe you walked so far."
"I told you I have lots of energy. It didn't seem that far," Buffy said. I don't get tired like normal people."
"I so can't relate," Mac said dryly.
Buffy laughed. "It looks like my mom is home. Do you want to come in and meet her?" Buffy offered.
"Next time," Mac said. "If I'm going to have time to meet up with you and your friends later. I need to get home."
"Okay," Buffy said. "Thanks a bunch."
She got out of the car, waving to Mac.
Mac grove away, surprised that she made a friend so easily. It took her almost three years to make two friends in high school.
Of course, Mac had no idea how gifted Buffy was at seeing the best in a person and bringing it out for others to see.
As for Buffy, she skipped inside and happily shared with her mom all the details of her encounter with Mac and modeled each outfit.
Joyce happily listened and watched the small fashion show, so happy to see her daughter this way. It'd been years since she had seen Buffy so carefree and excited to be alive. The burdens of being a slayer were gone, and she was free to be young. For the first time in years, she was free to enjoy life to the fullest.
Joyce knew that moving to Neptune with Buffy was the right decision. Life was short, and Joyce didn't want to miss a moment with Buffy. She'd come too closing to losing her daughter too many times.
"I think this move was a good decision," she said to Buffy.
"Absolutely!" Buffy agreed. "A fresh start for all of us."
Buffy believed Neptune would finally be the home Sunnydale never was.
*****Chapter End*****
So what's your thoughts? Veronica will be in this story, but not until the summer is over. I hope you won't miss her too much, but when she returns, there will be fireworks. Reviews are the best. Thanks!

“That One Night When...“ [belxmont]
That time of year had come at last. Pale Venus was high in the sky, her brilliant face outshining every star around her. The moon was full, and glittering in the mix of the cosmos was the starry outline of Virgo’s body. These were the signs. The Venus Ritual was to commence tonight.
Aside from the special days set on Christian and Wallachian calendars, the witches had unique holidays of their own. Such holidays, however, weren’t for celebration, dancing and feasting so much as they were for fulfilling one’s obligations, so to speak. No matter the witch, all had to acknowledge them, at least so they could manage themselves and their craft. Even the dark witches, who couldn’t gain as much benefit from these rites as a white witch could, were still expected to practice them anyways. But out of all the magical rites, the Venus Ritual was perhaps the least fruitful of them all. One of the major purposes of it was for female fertility-- something which was absent in a dark witch’s body, due to the corruption of her magic. Nevertheless, the ritual was also meant for achieving optimal female health, beauty, prosperity and all other good things, and these were aspects that everyone essentially needed in their lives. Thus, more than not, it was worth it.
The witches of Silverthorn were to gather tonight. They’d be performing the rite in the middle of the nearby woods, in a place where so few men often tread. They absolutely had to be, lest they wanted outsiders to hear the wretched screams of tonight’s “offerings.”
Of course, being the heir to the coven’s leader, Damaris was expected to be in attendance, despite having a rough schedule in her second duty as Inquisitor. Thankfully, the town she was currently in was within walking distance from the meeting place. Ahh, Perfect. No need to go through the trouble of using a transportation spell. All she had to do was throw on a cloak and walk through the town.
It took her perhaps a half hour before she reached the outskirts of the town and the edge of the forest. After making her way down on the path through the trees, and when she felt far enough from civilization, Damaris had taken off the thick black cloak that covered her entire form, completely revealing her ceremonial garb.
Each ceremony was particular about the style and color of witches’ ritual dresses, but nonetheless, the attire had the same general theme. In tradition, the clothing-- or lack thereof-- was to reflect that of the very first Silverthorn witches: women hailing from the Roman, Greek and Egyptian empires from a millennium and some centuries ago. And fittingly so, tonight the women were to dress in a manner that a Roman goddess of beauty would present herself-- pinks, whites and reds, some gold, some jewelry and, as mandated by the younger witches, looking as flawless as possible. Damaris’ new dress met this theme perfectly. Though she radiated with grace, beauty and class like a love goddess, the outfit left.... very little to the imagination. But then again, did a dark magic practitioner fret over the exposure of skin and human anatomy like the commonfolk did? It was her skin. It was her anatomy. It was what it was. May as well embrace it, no?
Quietly, Damaris walked down the path deeper into the woods, cautious not to let the sheer, blush-colored panels of her dress get caught on the stray sticks and rocks scattered about on the way. She kept her eyes glued ahead, peering into the darkness, looking for any sign of a fire light or for the presence of any of her coven sisters.
That was when she saw the silhouette of a person, tucked beneath a tree far away. The lady stopped in her tracks to observe the shadow. Could it have been one of the other Silverthorns? The strange shape looked a bit large for a woman. Was it Christina, perhaps?... Ana?... No, they were tall, but they weren’t that broad. What about Ishmina? She was kind of big...
No. None of them. After peering carefully for a moment, she started to see a figure she knew all too well.
Gradually, plump lips shaped themselves into a toothy grin.
Well, well, well. The tributes hadn’t even been performed, yet it seemed that Pale Venus was blessing the Black Sun Witch tonight with a bit of fortune. Here was lovely Damaris, caught by the light of the full moon in her best of all forms, looking like a nymph in gold, silk and plenty of her exposed, sun-kissed skin. And there, right on her path, was the dashing hero of Wallachia. Trevor Belmont. Oh, Trevor Belmont. That sweet, sweet hunter, in all his vampire-slaying, beer-guzzling glory. He just so happened to be here,~........
Her smile vanished.
Pissing.
Well, this situation had gotten awkward rather quickly, hadn’t it?

The Powers that don’t
💜I got a special request for a longer fic in my inbox a couple weeks ago and I’ve been working on it for a bit!💜
Pairing: Spike x fem!reader
Request: Imagine: The watcher's Council had found a young woman in a graveyard one night (from the year 2020) Giles was called by the council To look after the young woman while they figure out how she came to be. While fighting along side Buffy and the gang, Spike is crying over Drusilla leaving him as Spike encountered with the young woman takes a very happy turn. Oh personally: Laid back, kind, charming, sweet and sarcastic
Warning: Mention of covid-19. Blood mention. Spike kills people (not described graphically). Siring.
Requested by: @everlastingartist - hope this is okay love 💜🖤
A/N: Snapshots of your growing relationship with Spike. Time moves on pretty fast, I didn’t want to split this one up into parts but I suppose I usually move time on in my ficlets so you should be used to that by now if you follow my writing lol. There’s an extra gif (as a treat) in the middle to split it up! I had a blast with this one! (WC: 5k)
You were waiting in the queue to get into the supermarket, having to wait two metres behind those queueing in front of you. It was a normal day, that was until you blinked. This is how you found yourself in a graveyard. In the middle of the night.
“What the-” you looked around, confused. The mask over your mouth muffling your words as you spoke. You were sort of laid-back, even with this - being dropped into somewhere so clearly not where you were meant to be - you adjusted quickly. You had been in the supermarket queueing apart from the rest of the customers and now you were in a graveyard in what appeared to be the middle of the night.
“Now!” A stuffy looking man with a very British accent called, pointing towards you .A young woman tackled you to the ground. On instinct, that you weren’t aware you possessed until now, you blocked her blows and pushed her off you, panting hard. Eyes widened as she felt you were human. She got up, helping you up.
“Uh, Ow” You muttered, “So, hi, sorry to bother you - do you know where I am?”
“London, England” He enunciated the words, clearly proud of the place they were in.
“Great. How about when I am?” You ask, eyeing the girls choice in outfit. You were all for individual style but something about it made you feel as if you had been dropped straight into the 90s.
“1998, of course” They confirmed your suspicion. The pair frowned at you and then at each other.
“Oh, so I’ve travelled in time!” You decide, as if this was an inconvenience than a major revelation. You moved back subconsciously as they approached you. You weren’t used to people standing so close and so it was unusual when the girl offered you a comforting gesture - a hand on your shoulder. This gesture awarded her a glare from the man and she quickly dropped it. The man then looked at you with a curiosity that surpassed the usual time-traveller-crazy. He was squinting at you as if he had been waiting for this.
“Come with us” he ordered, didn’t ask. You shrugged and followed.
You spent a couple of days there, the man introducing himself as a watcher, his job to watch over the girl and train her. They had a special interest in you, something about a prophecy of one from the future, telling you that you had some kind of potential too. You were packing up, which was fairly simple as you only had the clothes on your back and a now unneeded face mask. You had been told you were taking a trip. Someone that could help you figure where to go from here.
Meanwhile, in Sunnydale, California:
“Mr Giles. We will need you to undertake further duties. The council is stretched and this woman is a special case. She maintains that she is from the future. I believe it may be the one from the prophecy your slayer has discovered. We will need you to watch her while we do our own research on this prophecy”
“Ok, Quentin. I shall greet her at the airport”
When you finally arrived in Sunnydale, laden with several scrolls and some books for you to give to a ‘Mr Giles’ about a prophecy that hadn’t been explained to you, a friendly older man welcomed you.
“Uh, hello, y/n. I’m Rupert Giles, you will be staying with me. I hear that you have travelled a long way to be here”
“Yeah and the rest” You mutter, before smiling apologetically and greeting him properly, “It’s nice to meet you, you have a really nice home” You offered, ever the charmer, as you looked around it approvingly.
Eventually, a group of people perhaps a little younger than you arrived their curiosity getting the better of them.
“This is Buffy, Willow, Xander and Anya” Giles introduced as you greeted them warmly.
“Hey, your names are all straight out of a graphic novel or something” You smile, introducing yourself as y/n. You had been briefed that Buffy was a slayer, that there was but one in a generation but you hadn’t been entirely certain what it entailed. Th others whispered slightly, about the latest demon not quite sure how much they could trust you yet as Giles caught that you may feel a little left out.
“Well, ah, yes, thank you. Shall we set you up in the spare room?” Giles offered, taking your bags and showing you the way. You just rolled with it, picking up the fast-paced lifestyle that you would have to be accustomed to in Sunnydale.
With you being laid back and fun for the others to be around, you fit in almost straight away. They started to be less secretive around you and started to clue you in on everything. Although, they weren’t entirely sure what a potential was yet themselves. Which was fine by you, you might not be here long enough to find out anyway. Giles was the only one that knew of a prophecy that had started to come true since you arrived.
They were helping you find a way home. Some of them more reluctantly than others. Willow had started to teach you little tricks and tips about simple spells, so that you could show off to the others. Buffy and you often gossiped together, she liked that you often had a friendly ear for her problems, offering another perspective that Willow didn’t have.
Life became normal, but you felt yourself lacking something you couldn’t quite put your finger on and it wasn’t returning back to 2020. Everyone was coupled up and some days you started to feel a little lonely. You continued to research a way to get home, often in vain. You weren’t so urgently wanting to leave, you had a life here in Sunnydale now but Giles was insistent you at least had the option to return to your time period.
It had been a few months now, and you were getting used to life in Sunnydale. Buffy ran at the vampire, with you, willow and Xander trailing behind. The three of you worked together to shepherd the vampires into Buffy’s line-of-fight so that she could stake them more easily. You became a part of everyone’s lives and you almost forgot about where you had come from, until of course it was brought up again.
You became fast friends with the gang, a true member of the Scoobies. They asked you so many questions about the future it was as if your life before then had been a dream. You were all walking back from the graveyard after a long night of slaying when they mentioned the future once more.
“There’s a big virus... it’s pretty bad back there… or forward, in the future” You say softly, thinking of how different everything was compared to now and how much you had taken little things for granted.
“I knew it! I called it: the next apocalypse would be a big virus infecting everyone” Buffy said excitedly, then realised you had a little frown. Things really had felt scary for a while there. She stopped talking, a hand on your arm to reassure you. You smiled at how close you had become, finding her one of your best friends. You were so grateful for the Scoobies as you walked through the streets, deciding to make an impromptu trip to the Bronze.
When you arrived, the music was buzzing and the vibe in the place was exciting. You smiled around the room, nodding along to the music, barely noticing the conversation until you zoned back in. They were discussing a vampire, someone they called Spike. You decided you wanted to ask who they were talking about.
“Oh my God, that’s right - you weren’t here” Buffy sighed, having to launch into another account of what had happened with Angel. Your eyes widened at the story they had managed to forget to inform you about, even to your laid back demeanour it made you a little spooked about how friendly you had been with Angel.
“So, what’s up with this Spike? Is he evil?”
“If you’re scared of peroxide you should start running” Xander smiled, and Willow explained he had bleach blonde hair.
“Well, uh, there was talk of torture with railroad spikes and-”
“He’s killed slayers in brutal ways”
“But he was mostly big on the talking about killing us but he never manged to do anything... too busy with his precious Drusilla” they shrugged, as if this was normal gossip. In the same breath, they started to talk about a girl from their school, Katy, who they saw parking with a guy that wasn’t her boyfriend.
Not even a week after this conversation, you were in the Magic Shop, needing a few ingredients - you had promised to help Willow with a de-lusting spell. She had told you, in private, what had been going on with Xander so you had it a priority to rush to the store.
As soon as your eyes met his, you felt the missing piece you had been lacking. His presence filling you up in ways you never knew you were empty. You were drawn to him, even though you knew how dangerous he was, you couldn’t help step towards him, despite the fact he was standing over a dead body.
It was the store owner. You had really liked her, she was always extremely kind. Your look of horror changed to one of concern though, at the state of the vampire in front of you. He looked almost... broken. As if he had suffered a great loss. Your head told you to run, get into the sunlight as soon as you could, but something made you stand stock still. You knew who he was. You had been told about him only a few nights ago. But the horror stories hadn’t scared you away. Not even the scene before you had scared you away.
You both just stared, as if you were studying something fascinating. For some reason, unknown to him, he didn’t lunge at you. He launched into a rant about his woes. You were used to this, your personality meant people often confided in you.
“She dumped me! She didn’t even chop my head off or burn me to ash, I mean, she doesn’t even care about me that much!”
“Hey, it’s okay I’m sure she’ll change her mind. I’m sure you have lots of... nice qualities” You offered. He sighed over-exaggeratedly, pacing and stepping over his discarded meal before leaning against the wall and sliding down it. He crouched, head in his hands as he continued to speak.
“But she cheated! With a chaos demon! Have you seen one of those? They’re all goo and antlers” he shouted, tears spilling from his eyes that he angrily wiped away. You cautiously sat beside him, also leaning against the wall.
“That sounds pretty gross to me” You offer nodding along, your hand hovering as if you wanted to offer a comforting gesture but you weren’t sure if he would bite your hand off (literally). However, your fears subsided when he leaned against your shoulder, sniffling slightly. His tears starting to subside at your words, nodding along. The big, scary bad guy didn’t seem so bad. He was in pain.
“Then, you deserve better, Spike. It hurts now, but this might be good for you. Some time to look out for yourself, pick up the, uh, pieces” You offer, wavering at the end as his face had shifted. He was starting to get mad. He realised he had been vulnerable with you. That he was taking comfort with you. A human. A potential, he had even overheard from the witch. This wouldn’t do. He could feel himself falling. One ounce of kindness and that’s all it took for him to start falling. God, sometimes he hated being love’s bitch.
He squinted, how did you know his name? Oh, right, you must know the Slayer. He’s just been vulnerable with one of the Slayer’s little slayerettes. He scowled at you, a dramatic change from his previous apparent sensitivity as he loomed over you.
“Bugger off, I see you - you’re the Slayer’s mate aren’t you? Well, I don’t know what game you’re playing but you can bloody well- you can bugger right off!” He shouted, grabbing your jacket, balling it up in his fist and pointing in your face. His face changed, his bumpy forehead shifting his features. You just stared back, everything had happened so fast you weren’t sure what could be said. Even now, you just wanted to reach and hug him. And, if you had I’m sure he would have hesitated but hugged back. But you didn’t and for some reason, he dropped his hand from your clothing and stalked away.
The next time you saw him, was a few days later. For some reason, his mind had started to move from Drusilla’s betrayal and he had a new object of his affection. You bump into him late at night as you walked back home after helping Buffy patrol, he still looks a little upset. He was definitely a little drunk and so, you took pity on him. He insulted you when he first saw you, trying to keep up the façade but it quickly melted away at how genuine you were about how he was doing. He softened, even slightly, nodding along to your words. He followed you to your door, already starting to miss you as the key turned in the lock.
“Come in?” You offered over your own shoulder as you stepped over the threshold. He squinted, unsure if he had heard you right before smirking.
“You’re just asking to be eaten up, aren’t you?”
“No, I can just see you’re hurting. Talk to me, I won’t tell a soul” you promise, setting out two mugs and offering him a drink. He nodded, taking the mug and hugging it to him. The warmth comforting in a way that he wondered if your embrace would be the same. He knew it would. And now, as you spoke, he couldn’t stop thinking about it.
After this, another moment where he hadn’t eaten you despite having a very easy chance, he took comfort in the fact that you were kind but not naïve. Kindness was his weakness and you weren’t like the scoobies, there was something about you. Like you had knowledge, not just because you appeared to be a few years older. Like you could truly understand.
When he left in the early hours of the morning, only because the sun was threatening to rise, he still insisted he was going after Drusilla. But instead, he couldn’t help sticking around.
He realised he didn’t want to go back to Drusilla. He wanted kindness. He wanted you. He decided to lay low, staying in Sunnydale for you. To even catch another glimpse of you.
He became increasingly besotted with you. A small grain of affection growing into a vast and deeply rooted feeling of love.
After a while of accidentally bumping into him late at night, you realised Spike had moved back permanently. He was often found hanging around the place you had started renting after you moved out of Giles’ when you realised that this wasn’t a temporary stay in Sunnydale. He pretended he had been looking for you, saying that there was a gang of vampires that had taken over the east side of Sunnydale and that Buffy was busy with something else. He suggested that you both checked it out seeing as Giles had in fact determined, and now told you, that you were a potential. A slayer-in-training.
Spike drove you both. The car smelt of cigarette smoke and as if he had spilled an entire bottle of jack on the back seat. The whole way there he tried impressing you with how evil he was, despite the fact he was out doing Buffy’s job. You pointed this out to him, not wanting to upset him but because it was a valid point. He explained it was the principle of the thing, he wasn’t turning good. Not for anything.
You were fond of him, and he loved everything about you. How caring you were. How sweet your smile was to him. How you knew so much about being in a time you’re not really from. He found you were incredibly easy to talk to, having now poured his heart out on more than one occasion. Another thing is that often, he didn’t feel the need to talk - he just wanted to hear you talk about everything and anything.
This was what you were doing on the car journey. You were explaining about music apps and how you could have all of your music, not just the beat up cassette tapes Spike had littering his car, on one tiny device. He listened, fascinated about everything you would tell him of the future.
You parked up and waited in the car a while, waiting for any sign of this illusive vampire gang.
After a while, Spike turned the heat up a little, noticing you were cold. He slipped his duster off, not making eye contact as he offered it to you. You smiled and took it, but then realised what the gesture could mean. You slipped it on, bundling it around you the best you could before looking back to him wit ha little furrow on your brow.
“Is, uh, this a date Spike?” you ask finally, not able to stop yourself grinning at his reaction.
“What?! No! Uh, unless you… y’know… wanted it to be?” He muttered, noting your smile. It made him melt. You nodded confirmation, a small smile. You’d love a date with him. He nodded, mirroring you. Then you both stared ahead of you, not sure what else to say. You were overthinking it now.
A date with a human?
A date with a vampire?!
But when your eyes met again, none of it mattered. You grinned, reaching your hand to lay on top of his. Squeezing slightly, giving him that sweet smile he loved so much.
You were supposed to be predator and prey and yet it was nothing like this. Neither of you could deny your feelings. He couldn’t lie and say he magically didn’t think about the way your blood would taste, but he never wanted to hurt you. It was almost physical, he ached for you to be happy.
He moved to look back at you in the passenger seat and couldn’t help smiling, although it ended up on the other side of his face when the vampires you had been looking for found you instead. They had been real and not made up as an excuse to talk to you. You had fought together, perfectly in sync with the other, having each other’s backs on instinct. It was the best first date you had both ever had, ending in a passionate kiss as the last remnants of vamp-dust fell to the ground.
After months of researching the prophecy of the ‘Future one’ that Giles decided had to be you, you had also become Spike’s girlfriend. This was on the down-low to begin with, Spike was definitely seen as evil and not just because he had done a deal with some questionable demons in order to make some money and hoped to get the chance to kill Buffy at the same time. You navigated your relationship around this, trying to steer him and Buffy out of each other’s way the best that you could.
Spike stalked in, blood smeared around his mouth that he wiped off with his shirt sleeve, trying to look at least a little presentable when he realised you were waiting up for him.
He softened when he saw you sleepily cuddled on the sofa, the glare of the tv lighting up your face. Coming back to see you was heaven, if he believed in any of that stuff. You made this crypt a home and coming back to have you waiting in the early morning was bliss. He wanted you to move in, but you kept your apartment for appearances in front of the Scoobies.
He moved to you, cupping your cheek and pulling you in for a kiss. It was soft and slow, but full of meaning - as if he was sucking the soul from you. Replacing it with his love. His promise that souls didn’t matter when it was love.
“What was that for?” The meaning behind his kiss almost waking you up completely. Knocking the breath from your lungs. The sleep from your eyes. Eyes a little wider, smile a little brighter.
“I love you, pet” he shrugged, sitting beside you on the sofa.
“I love you too, even though you taste suspiciously like the red-stuff” You can’t help still smiling sleepily. He sat beside you on the sofa, allowing you to settle in beside him. He let you lay against him and you snuggle into his side as he wrapped an arm around you. His soft whispers match the soothing caress as he rubbed your arm as you started to drift into sleep. You felt so safe with him.
You would never have guessed that not an hour before this vampire had been terrorising humans, draining them and taunting them. He of course never told you that was what he did, and he could never for a second imagine hurting you that way, but you had suspicions and you tried your best to not bring it up or ask him to try animal blood.
You trusted him, for better or for worse. By this time, you had been dating for almost a year and a half, for the most part hidden from the others. Willow knew, being the most understanding of the group. Anya had her suspicions but the others weren’t aware.
A while after all of your friends found out about your relationship with Spike (they had walked in on you both in a compromising position that no amount of excuses could explain), you got a call from Giles. He had still been looking up a way for you to go home and he had finally found one.
It was time for you to choose. Between the prophecy and going back to the future.
“Y/n, I’ve found it! You may go home” he offered, an aged scroll and a tablet with runes carved on it in his hands. You stared, in shock. You knew what this meant. It meant you could go back home to your family. Your friends. Your life before you met them all.
“I, uh…” you just stared. Things had been rocky for a while, you had been under suspicion for your relationship with Spike when they had found out, but everything had been getting back to normal now. You had barely thought about returning to 2020. You had made a life here.
“You do not have to do anything with this, y/n. You may, ah, wish to think about it. Or I could put these to one side if you ever did in the future want to go back. But I will be the first to say that you are one of us. None of us will take any pleasure in saying goodbye” Giles knew your fears, that the group would want you to leave because of your relationship with Spike. They weren’t pleased with it, but the arguments were over now. Everyone was still fond of you.
“Thanks, Giles. Can we keep this between us for now?” You asked and he nodded, hiding everything away safely until it was needed.
Since that talk with Giles, Spike noticed you had been off with him. He tried asking, but you had snapped and he had become irritated. You had stormed away in the middle of the day so that he couldn’t follow you, avoiding an argument. You took your time coming back, having to think over everything. Should you go back to 2020 or stay in Sunnydale (with perhaps a perilous prophecy to fulfil).
When you returned, you told him everything. An honesty you both had tried to maintain throughout your relationship. You poured your fears, your apprehension and then he looked in your eyes, took your hands and offered you another option. an option you had never even considered until now. Your eyes widened, could he really love you that much?
“You’ll never be able to go back, love. Think about it. I’ll understand if you’d rather try to look for that portal again to get back home” “I love you and I want you to stay here... with me” He finally said it. What you were hoping for him to say. Your grin spread across your face, nothing would have taken it from you. This moment, it was special.
“I want this, Spike. I want you” You confirmed, “You are home to me”
“You think you can handle an eternity with me?”
“I can give it a try at least” You smiled as he rolled his eyes.
He stared into your eyes, testing if you were serious before casting his gaze back to your neck. He could feel the steady beat, your trust in him.
He leaned in, you braced yourself. He held your head back, cradling it. His mouth lingered despite his lusting for your blood. His face shifted, fangs now protruding from his mouth, the same eyes now a different colour scanning the unmarked skin there.
It was as if in slow motion. He whispered his affections for you, landing a soft kiss on your pulse point before his jaw opened. He moved in, teeth starting to pierce your flesh. You winced, hissing slightly and he paused but your hands moved and you nodded your continuing consent. He continued to intake your blood, swallowing the thick viscous liquid as if it were his last meal on this plain.
When he managed to pull away, he sliced his palm, offering you your first taste of his blood. You gladly accepted, licking the cut before sucking hungrily. You pulled his hand closer to your mouth as he stroked the back of your head with his other hand. Your eyes darkened, wanting him, wanting to be filled with his blood. With anything he wanted to give you and offering your soul in return. Your soul was his to take.
This was forever. Bound by the love coursing through your veins. This was big for him, he had never sired anyone romantically before and he knew he never would again. This was a bond he only wanted with you. He loved you so much, to have you by his side was a gift to you both.
You drank until your body slumped and he had to hold you up. Taking on your weight, laying you down on his bed. lovingly placing the covers over you. He lay himself beside you, on his side facing you, over the bedclothes. He stroked your cheek, it was as if you were sleeping. But you had no heart beat. You weren’t breathing. Your skin was hardening, marble-like. He smiled at this, a thumb gliding across your cheekbone.
He wasn’t grieving, he was in anticipation. Hoping your kindness, charm and laid-back nature wasn’t lost during the process. This had gone wrong for him before and he was desperate for all of the human qualities to be with you during your reawakening.
After what felt like an age, your eyes opened and the first thing you saw were his sparkling blue eyes staring back. The smile on your lips mirrored his as your face shifted for the first time. Elongated fangs and a ridged forehead were now the new addition to your features, and he loved you more for it.
“I never would have thought… after everything” you sighed, having woken up from what felt like a sleeping-beauty style 100 year sleep. You thought about where you had come from. How you had met, how he had threatened you, how the Scoobies - your friends - had reacted to your relationship with Spike. It had all been worth it to be here with him like this.
Your joints were stiff, your senses heightened. But your love for him was just as deep as it was before. Your genuine nature bruised a little, maybe grazed but not removed from you the way some vampires appeared to have their good qualities surgically taken.
“Well, the Powers-that-bloody-don’t have a funny way of working things out” he shrugged, not able to stop himself smiling that it was really still you.
“Now, come on pet, I want to show you the afterlife properly” He smirked, pulling you up from bed to follow him, about to show you the joys of the hunt. He could tell you would be hungry, he was ready to show you everything. He was so pleased he had truly found someone that loved him the same way he loved them. Someone he could cherish, that would cherish him in return. Someone he could hold long into the day and not worry about some other vampire coming along and catching your eye. You were both in deep. And happily so.
This was the start of your un-life together. Little did either of you know, in a couple of months time, Spike would no longer be able to kill a living thing. A chip would be embedded into his brain. You would stay by his side, a precarious truce with the others still. Your soul almost intact, but never quite in the room. Your love for him would never die, even through the tough times that were coming.
Your prophecy something you would have to encounter eventually, but you could both face anything as long as you were together. Bound together for an eternity.
