Giles saying to Buffy that getting involved with someone who doesn’t know her identity is dangerous etc etc made me think that ,her friend are kinda perfect in this regard for her .Like they met her and found out shortly after that she was The Slayer so it’s not like they got attached to a false Buffy who is a normal teenager .And then they CHOOSE over and over again to help her defeat vampires .No wonder she’s so attached to them like yeah ,she cares for them for who they are but also having someone who knows your identity from day one and choose to stick by it must have been the dream for Buffy ,that alone makes her devoted to them .
