New Irken OCs!

Chant is an odd Irken who has an obsession with eyes. With their hobby of inventing and tinkering with things, they've created two floating mechanical eyes and a third one that they wear. These eyes function like extentions of their own eyes and acts as sight, cameras, and computers that can display various screens, data, ect.

Orb is your standard Irken soldier. He's incredibly loyal to the Empire and often comes across as stoic and duty-driven. Being unafraid to be injured or get dirty, there's not much that gets to him, but he does have a weakness for smeets, however.

Eglant is a short Irken who's dream is to become an invader for the Empire. She's still young, but excels in her training. Her biggest hurdle, however, is her short stature. Although self-conscious over it, she tries to push her boundaries over her cunningness and skills as a trained Irken soldier to make up for it.

Zot is your standard Irken invader. He's prideful, arrogant, and believes he can do no wrong. He gets a thrill in the art of invasion and has had many successful ones under his belt. What he surpasses in computer and invader skills, however, he lacks in fighting and battles, often becoming easily scared due to not wanting to risk injury.

Flom is the daughter of Sizz Lorr. She's young, but she knows her passion is in music. With a beautiful voice, her talent and skills will hopefully push her into the assignments of an entertainer. For now, however, she works with her father, whom she shares her short temper with. (I know Irkens can't have offspring, but consider this an AU or something, lol~)

Ditlit is a tiny, young Irken whom grew up as childhood friends with Flom. Deeply in love, he basically worships the ground she walks on and shares her musical love also being able to play a variety of instruments. Where ever life takes him, he's happy so long as Flom is there too.

Regarding Kagome getting hate for being a Mary-Sue if she were more like Sesshomaru, you should know that she still gets the Mary Sue accusations as she is. People call her too “OP” just because she didn’t train enough and because Rumiko said her spiritual powers are naturally more powerful than Kikyo.

They also consider her a Mary-Sue in terms of how much the narrative “glorifies” her (according to them at least) because multiple guys are crushing on her and the fact that it seems the Inugang always takes her side whenever it comes to fights with Inuyasha and she supposedly never has to learn from her faults. They claim Rumiko making her out to be so pure-hearted is also Mary-Suesque and that the narrative pretends that Kagome has no faults that she has to grow from and is perfect personality wise.

Oh, believe me, I'm totally aware. I only used the comparation with Sesshomaru as an example to make the point that no matter what she does, Kagome will get bashed because an especific, biased part of the audience is already phrone on hating her and will make up any excuse to justify it. And you brought up great new other examples.

They call her overpowered but, while her lack of training is a valid criticism, it's not a crime to be naturally gifted. In fact, it's a pretty common trope. What they conveniently "forget" is that raw talent alone is not enough: even though Kagome had a lot of power, she obviously didn't know how to use them.

So in the beginning she had to work with what she knew and improvise, showing us other facets of her character, such as her intelligence, creativity, cunningness and inventiveness.

Nothing was handed over to her on a plate. She had to work for it. There was no official training because she was learning on the job and doing amazing at it. Not because of her reincarnation status or some deus ex machina type of thing, but because of practice, persistence and resilience. If her spiritual powers are naturally more powerful than Kikyo, it only proves that they are different people, who see the world — and by extension, themselves — through vastly different lens, which inevitably bleeds into how they relate with their powers and with other people.

That being said, the narrative never glorifies Kagome and they know it. On the contrary, I'd argue it actually holds her to higher standards than any other character. She's constantly getting tested about her flaws. Just on the top of my head I could list Mount Azusa, the infant incident and that time she saved Kikyo from miasma. But even if her main lesson is that it's okay to have feelings, the narrative will still paint her as wrong again when she does have them.

And even when that doesn't happen, Kagome herself is hyper aware of her own flaws. That's a huge part of her character, due to her feelings of inadequacy. But she's always the first person to hold herself accountable for her actions, admit when she's in the wrong, apologize and make it better.

Now, the Inugang could be more sensible about Inuyasha's predictment — especially Sango, for obvious reasons —, I'll give them that. But Inuyasha doesn't help himself with his poor communication skills, either. All his friends know is that he's hurting Kagome, whom they love, over someone dangerous who has a history of trying to murder him.

As for the "multiple guys crushing on her" thing... I mean, can we blame them? Face card never declines, my God!

Li Lianhua character study

I love how Li Lianhua is all about maturing, changing, and basically transforming after a huge trauma. When you're in your 30s it hits differently as you've been through stuff, and you know how to rise from the ashes and re-invent yourself (if not, that's perfectly okay, too).

I just relate to this so much, the ability to go on and choose life no matter what. Li Lianhua is like a terminally ill patient with a ticking clock attached to his lifespan. 10 years is enough time to learn how to cherish whatever precious moments you have in life (even if all your loved ones are either gone, busy with their lives, or locked themselves inside a cave somewhere). It really doesn't matter at this point - all you've got is YOU, and that's what you have to deal with. And you either find new meanings or become forever a ghost of your former self.

See, I like how Li Lianhua didn't do that, despite his ailment. He learned to enjoy the simple things. He found a 'job' that fit his new narrative better. He ditched the heavy physical activities and started using his smarts and cunningness, relying on his brain rather than his gong-fu prowess. He developed new skills because one's life doesn't end with an injury, even if you can no longer do the very thing that WAS your life before.

When you have a clock ticking on your ENTIRE life that's got to change a person. A whole new mentality develops. So much so that he's mature enough to speak to his former GF kindly, so she finally lets him go and can look into the future. So much so that when a puppy Fang Doubing arrives at his doorstep, he doesn't want to do anything with him not to cause any more damage to the people around him. He doesn't love himself, I doubt it, but there's no avid self-pitying. It feels like he's accepted his fate for whatever reason. And that he just wants some peace.

The world being unable to let go of him is an entirely different matter. The old friends, old lovers, old family members, the death that haunts him, the past. If he could let go of that totally, he probably would have transformed, transmigrated into something else entirely, if he wasn't clinging to those bits and pieces that refused to die despite the clock ticking (but then he wouldn't be LLH I guess).

The world around him was clinging to the ghost of his former self, cherishing it like a statue of a hero that he once was, like a symbol of power, change, and youthful prowess that he no longer could or wanted to be. Fang Doubin accepted him for who he was, despite dreaming of meeting Li Xiangyi. His open heart and soul were pretty much irresistible for such an old and tired cynic whom Li Lianhua thought himself to be (otherwise, if you have hope, if you have people who love you, the ticking clock becomes too painful).

And then De Feisheng appears like a walking and talking memory of days long gone, hellbent on repeating the fight that was already in the past. That man obviously had issues of his own, but they still clicked, the connection was there, despite Li Lianhua being so different, despite reinventing himself from the ashes of his former self. I reckon it's because their connection was deeper than just the persona, the agenda, the whatever reason that got them fighting in the first place. It's just that Di Feisheng doesn't know any other type of relationship, so he fixates on what's familiar to him, and what's safe. Li Lianhua is safe as a sworn enemy, but in his mind, it might be just a skewed version of a sworn lover, a zhiji, a person who knows him like no other.

That's why for Li Lianhua their relationship is a double-edged sword. On one hand, there's a bond, a connection that survived the passage of time and his own transformation. On the other hand, Di Feisheng is trying to drag him back to where he was, to the version of himself that no longer existed.

In a way, I think, Di Feisheng partly accepted Li Lianhua, he could probably let go of the fighting thing as time went by (if they had that time together), and it would grow into something different, milder, calmer, more peaceful, more at ease with each other and themselves. I think it's a huge possibility because adjusting to new versions of people takes time (and A-Fei seems like the kind of person who has a hard time accepting that other people are not the same anymore), but it would have worked eventually.

Fang Doubing felt like a bridge between Li Xiangyi and Li Lianhua, and Di Feisheng could have walked it, getting to know his old frenemy as a re-invented, different person (which he did in the series, we just don't get to see his inner thoughts about the matter). But A-Fei and LLH reconciling in that wedding chamber and drinking wine is pretty much that - they reminisce of the old days but as themselves, in the new setting, admitting that time has passed but some things haven't changed (their bond).

I don't know I just thought about it suddenly XD I blame my dash for MLC stuffs))) I love this throuple, though.

Sonic characters, their gym specialisms and potential gym teams. A thread (since I enjoyed making my Hetalia/Pokémon threads so much!).

Sonic:

I think for Sonic, he'd be a normal type gym leader. This is a tough one, but I think given how Sonic seemingly sees the best in everyone and can pinpoint their better qualities, he'd be the type to have a cool normal type team to show people normal type Pokémon are just as exceptional as other types!

Potential team: Kangaskhan (a reference to Sonic's bravery, like how this Pokémon will always fight to protect its young, Sonic will always fight for his home and those he cares about), Lopunny (reference to Sonic's combat skills), Audino (reference to Sonic's kindness and compassion), Snorlax (I like to think this Pokémon and Sonic would eat SO many chillidogs), Ditto (a reference to Sonic's inner prankster, I can imagine Sonic asking Ditto to turn into others as a distraction for Eggman).

Shadow:

Given how Shadow's personality can be described, I think he'd be a dark type gym leader.

Potential team: Sableye (reference to the Chaos Emeralds), Houndoom (its nature and how it is described in Pok��dex entries remind me of how others fear Shadow), Tyranitar (a strong, powerful Pokémon- similiar to how one could argue Shadow is), Pangoro (another reference to Shadow's physical strength and the fact that like this Pokémon, Shadow sometimes engages with his fists first), Umbreon (reference to Shadow's inhibitor rings).

Knuckles:

Knuckles for sure would be a fighting type gym leader, given his strength and combat skills.

Potential team: Hitmonchan (reference to Knuckles' fighting spirit), Annihilape (reference to how one may describe Knuckles' nature and its fists also remind me of Knuckles'), Machamp (reference to Knuckles' physical strength), Scrafty (reference to how Knuckles looks after his friends, though he is fierce and often a loner by nature), Hariyama (another reference to Knuckles' strength, like how this Pokémon compares strength).

Tails:

I can see Tails as an electric type gym leader, due to his engineering work and intelligence surrounding technology.

Potential team: Plusle and Minun (reference to Tails' energy and enthusiasm in regards to working with his friends, particularly Sonic), Rotom (I can imagine Rotom would help Tails in his work, particularly when inventing new equipment), Kilowattrel (reference to Tails' ability to fly), Alolan Golem (I think Tails would have a Pokémon like this to act as a defense against Eggman's attacks), Jolteon (its appearance reminds me a little of Tails), Magneton (again, another useful Pokémon for Tails in his engineering work).

Amy:

Amy would be a fairy type gym leader, given her gentle but powerful disposition (like how fairy types can be cute but also pack a punch!).

Potential team: Wigglytuff, Tinkaton (reference to Amy's Piko hammer), Togekiss (reference to Amy's connection with nature and Birdie), Slurpuff (reference to Amy's baking/cooking skills that have been hinted at), Sylveon (reference to Amy's caring nature and how in touch she is with her emotions).

Rouge:

Ahh, this is a tough one! But I can see Rouge being a steel type gym leader, one who has Pokémon to help her hunt for jewels with Pokémon strong enough to fend off potential threats to her missions.

Potential team: Mawile (reference to Rouge's cunningness and deceptive appearance), Corviknight (reference to Rouge's flying ability), Klefki (much like how this Pokémon loves keys, this is a reference to Rouge's love of emeralds and gems- I also like to think she'd try and use this Pokémon to get into places where she shouldn't be), Copperajah (reference to Rouge's strength, especially her kicks, and her proud nature), Tinkatuff (I like to think Rouge would have this Pokémon help her dig and scout out gems and jewels).

Silver:

I think Silver would be a psychic type gym leader, given the nature of his abilities and the fact he is from the future.

Potential team: Espeon (I like to think he'd have a Pokémon like this to warn him of potential danger), Gardevoir (reference to the fact Silver is from the future), Male Meowstic (its defensive nature reminds me of Silver being able to use his abilities as a defense), Sigilyph (reference to Silver being able to fly using his abilities), Galarian Rapidash (reference to Silver's bravery and strength), Alakazam (another reference to Silver's abilities and his knowledge).

Blaze:

A no brainer here- Blaze would be a fire type gym leader.

Potential team: Flareon (a reference to Blaze's ability), Blaziken (reference to Blaze's strength and inner temper), Delphox (its appearance reminds me of Blaze's appearance and also, both can be argued to be quite elegent), Armarouge (reference to Blaze's loyalty to her friends and allies), Arcanine (reference to Blaze's royalty and her regal nature).

hi, don't mind me suddenly posting this lore dump of cora's backstory in HSR verse, teehee.

very little is known about cora's past. if you were to ask her, she'd either tell you to "buzz off" or, should you be lucky enough to gain her trust, only admit to have always been "attached to machines". perhaps only elio knows about her backstory, but it doesn't matter - to cora, past nor the future don't matter, for you're living in the present.

some might say it's a very simplistic point of view, but to cora, it's all she's ever known. born in a land ruled by destruction, chaos, violence and betrayal - a.k.a TALIA, KINGDOM OF BANDITRY - cora only knew about "survival of the fittest" and "strong overcoming the weak". her family, being descendants of one of original bandits who first came to a desolate planet and formed the kingdom, were highly respected and almost considered "royalty" by many. however, in talia, that only meant being faced with threats, assassination attempts and daily occurrences of fights, robbery, etc. since childhood, cora faced with the harshness and mercilessness this vast universe offered, as well as seeing the worst traits people had to offer. certainly didn't help that her own family treated their eldest daughter as nothing more than "worthy junk" - something they could use for their own advantage. needless to say, cora faced with danger since birth, but it wasn't all bad.

her home planet, whilst crude and in miserable state, still held a plethora of machines and gadgets which could be used to invent and remake into anything you wanted. this is why the people of talia lived by one mentality - machines are your only friends. having always been fascinated by said folks who could create anything they wanted just from "useless junk", cora built, invented and repaired for as long as she could remember, and quickly became one of precious, rare prodigies of machinery. she lost count of the amount of people either praising her talents, begging for her services, you name it. hell, some went as far as to blackmail or even attempt kidnapping her just to get their hands on such a rare talent - however, the latter was nothing short but an everyday occurrence in a land full of shady, questionable people.

while her talents were a blessing, it was a curse as well...one which made cora lonelier, more bitter and abrasive towards the universe. it's not that she's ashamed for being a capable woman - you'd sooner find her death than say that, but the fact that her own family had begun distancing even further from her. whilst used to cold relationships, her skills had only made life within her own home more difficult - from hefty punishments, silent treatments to even being told she was nothing more but a "overrated toy which will eventually lose its' spark"...all of this out of envy and spite. just how far humans will reach just to gain what they wanted? such was a question cora was about to answer...one that would come with heavy consequences.

at unknown age - in reality, cora had forgotten how old was she during that time period- her family woke her up at night and took her by the entrance of talia's vast connection of labyrinths. then and there, she'd be nudged forward and be face to face with an intimidating-looking woman, who ironically held a gentle facade. that woman only smiled and turned her heel, ordering the men to take cora along. at the time, she didn't understand what was happening...but, once being put within IPC'S technological departments, and being told she shall be "rewarded for her talents" would cora understand: she was far too naive. family? connections? those are nothing but a joke...they're nothing more but tools for people to use for their own gain. her own family was a prime example of such philosophy: they sold their own daughter off for their own gain, after all.

and aeons, what a damn mistake they've made...having little to no knowledge of the cruelness, cunningness yet insanity cora was yet to display for the entire world to see. having had enough of being stomped upon, crumbled, betrayed and seen as a mere toy, she begun showing her true colors...especially when, after years working with IPC, would she cause a massive revolution among the dissatisfied workers - a revolution which saw such destruction, chaos and madness that it required higher ups to intervene and put an end to massive revolts. by the time they've realized who was responsible for riling up such a devastating revolution, cora had already escaped from IPC'S clutches...and stolen massive amount of scrap, machines and parts which were crucial to continuous development. she caused the entire revolt for simple reasons: she was tired of these bozos and wanted to take their stuff and bolt off.

shortly after, cora would be found by kafka whilst hiding from the IPC. being impressed with her skills in machinery, as well as level of intelligence and twinge of madness the green haired woman possesses, she'd recruit the girl to become one of stellaron hunters - with a simple promise that the girl of talia would be free to do whatever she wished...for her script predestined she'd be a loose cannon.

Nya in earlier seasons. Wu when he was doing proper teachings also in earlier seasons. Ronin when his hair was brown. Jay when he's inventive, serious or snarky like S1, S6 and his 30 second cameo in DR. ECHO ZANE! MORRO AND HIS GHOST GANG TOO! The cloud kingdom monks. Though I'm not a massive fan of Euphrasia simply because her voice is a little high and squeeky, which grates on my nerves.

There's a lot of characters I'd high-five, like Skylor, Scales, Vania, Geo and the Time Twins - - I do like Crux and Acronix and their snake commanders although Cruncha and Knuckle (or however it's spelt) from the pilots are far funnier! Honestly, Sora isn't all that bad. Jordana... Poor girl. Our purple ninja nelson is sweet. Arin is fine but that's it. Wyldfyre is pretty fine too. Ras is quite cunning at times. Clouse was not bad either when he served as Garmadon's parallel. I'll throw in Cinder for being amazing and childish in S2 P2. Wolf Warriors, Stone Army and the massive Stone guy. DARETH! SOTO!! Cyrus Borg. Clancee and Flintlocke. The Great Devourer too... Though she was scary. Aspheera maybe, for shouting revenge? I'd even throw in Rapton because I don't hate him. Ray, Maya, Ed and Edna and Cole's dad too. Most the elemental masters, though not very much Tox, Jason master of sound or the purple haired one and Ash is a bit shady... Min droid was cute, Cryptor was not.

I know I'll have forgotten some, but that's the main ones I can think of!

Misako did have her moments. Mystake as tea lady in S1 or something, otherwise I don't like her all that much. Faith was okay but I'm not fond of her. Benthomaar was better than his brother, Wojira caused havoc. Clutch powers is OTT. Prime Empire and the Island, all meh. I like complex and well developed characters, excluding Harumi for reasons below.

I'd kick out the Overlord, Harumi and her gang, even the Mechanic. I'll throw in Beatrix and a lot of minor villains for being annoying on the occasion. Vangelis could have been far more developed. Too many come-backs or just a massive psychological manipulator in Harumi's case, though I respect her cunningness, skill and how she holds herself.

Dsmp Hogwarts AU, except it’s all the characters and I go into why they are what they are, please reblog this took a long ass time

Man, what a title Huh? Anyways, this will obviously go over the characters and not the content creators, because in some cases those are vastly different

Also, before we start, I will go over an important thing that I will mention probably a few times, and that is the difference between Hufflepuff Loyalty and Slytherin Loyalty.

Both of these houses value loyalty, but in very different ways. Take for example that you’re a spy who has their best friend as their partner, and you’re out on some super important mission. Let’s also say that your partner got shot and is close to death, and the only way to save them would be to abandon the mission entirely.

A Hufflepuff would try to complete the mission because it would be the best for all, while the Slytherin would abandon the mission despite the fact that it could result in countless deaths, just to save their friend.

See it as Selfish Loyalty vs Selfless loyalty. Both are great things to have, but are still different.

I have seen people try to argue that this boy is a Hufflepuff because of his loyalty and such, but gosh darnit everyone this child is a god damn Gryffindor. I mean, one of his main character traits is that he’s brash and too brave for his own good. The reason he got fucking exiled is because he burned down George’s house without thinking of the consequences, and then just screamed at Dream without thinking of the consequences. The same goes for Ghostbur’s “death”, it was because he had no real plan except Stab Dream with an axe. So yeah, Gryffindor

Slytherin, 100%. This man has created one and a half nation, one entirely out of spite, he was both a general and a president, he’s a smart lil fella, and he managed to hold his own against the god of the server. I don’t even thing you guys wanna argue with me here

This one is tricky, because it’s really between Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw for me. Like, he does possess the Hufflepuff loyalty™ plus he is very kind, but he’s also one of the more logical and observant characters we have in this server (The bar is very low let me tell ya). But I think I will have to go with Ravenclaw, just because like, the boy invented nukes. He built fucking nukes. So yeah, a very chaotic Ravenclaw that will spout bee facts at you, be prepared

I will have to go with Slytherin on this one, simply because of the large amount of Slytherin Loyalty, but also because of his cunningness and resourcefulness, but for real this was very tricky, simply because I don’t like to think about c!Phil too much because as some of you may know, I kinda hate him (Not the cc though, obvs, he’s awesome)

Ranboo My Beloved

Hufflepuff. This boy’s ideology is literally “Choose people, not sides”, he’s an honest and compassionate boy who works hard, and has a very open mind. He’s literally the by the book Hufflepuff

Honestly, Slytherin. I mean, they are ambitious as fuck, both shown by them betraying L’Manburg for the throne, but also by working hard towards their redemption arc. They are also a good leader of the smp, and in general a great role model to have

Nikki Nihachu

This one is actually difficult, simply because Nikki has gone through quite the character arc the past couple of months. She started out kind, sweet and loyal, a classic Hufflepuff. Then she joined the syndicate and straight up tried to kill a child, which is less Hufflepuff but who am I to judge. But in her core, as seen through her discussion with Jack about Tommy’s revival, she is still a good person that works hard for what she believes in, wants the best for everyone (Despite sometimes working in her best self interest) remains kind through it all. So yeah, Nikki is a Hufflepuff, just a bit of a sadistic one. But we can’t all be perfect ya know?

Fun Jonathan Michael Vincent Georgina James Sus Dy Soot

Ah, my favorite character, and also one of the best examples of a Ravenclaw. And I ain’t saying that just cuz I’m a Ravenclaw, Fundy is one of the most Ravenclaw characters out there. He’s creative, Clever, Spontaneous, Witty, Curious, Sharp, and a real trickster. The idea of Ravenclaws being the goody two shoes kids that always does their school work is just false, we never do our Homework and instead sit and read about things we find interesting, and Fundy is a good example of that. Also he was quite the eager learner during the Dreamon Hunters arc, which again is a good example of a Ravenclaw. So if Ranboo is the by the book Hufflepuff, then Fundy is the by the book Ravenclaw.

Dreamwastaken

I’m pretty sure it’s confirmed that Dream is actually a Slytherin, and I ain’t arguing with that. This boy is cunning, sly, a leader, traditional, Self-Preserving, and a master with words. There is not much more to say here, apart from the fact that Slytherins main colour is literally green, so it all checks out, this boy is a snake.

George Lore

Mr not found over here really is hard to pinpoint down, simply because his main character trait is his apathy, which isn’t really a trait for any of the houses. I was discussing this one with my girlfriend, and both of us were pretty clueless of what to do with him. I was thinking if Hufflepuff since they take the ones that don’t fit anywhere else, but then I was reminded of the most recent Dream XD stream, which showed us one thing, and that is that George is clever, observant, and Sharp Minded, all the traits of a Ravenclaw. Sure, he could also be Slytherin as he was both cunning and sly as well, but I think Ravenclaw fits him more personally.

Finally we have another Gryffindor, there’s been a serious lack of them on the list. My man is a fighter, he’s bold, he’s brave, he’s passionate, he’s confident, and he doesn’t really think that much of the consequences of his actions (Cough the pet war cough), so yeah this boy a lion.

Ah, Punzie, the mercenary themself. Tbh, I know very little about them because Punz don’t get involved that much in lore unless they are hired for something. I mean, they were in the eggpire, but even then they were barely involved, which is sad cuz I like Punz. But what we have seen of Punz is that they are someone who does not care about you or what you want, as long as you pay them. They are power hungry and self preserving, which means that I have to put them in Slytherin.

Jack Thunder1408 TV Manifold

The boy who I can’t help but be sympathetic towards. Jack is also a hard character to pin point because of the reason that he’s gone through quite the development. Jackie boy is a very broken character that has literally been through hell, so it’s hard to properly sort him. He’s quite confident and clever, yet cunning and resourceful, so for me it’s either Slytherin or Gryffindor. But I do lean towards Gryffindor more, partly because of his stubbornness and gullibility, and part because of all the fire imagery that’s associated with him. I mean, the cc described him as burning inside, he’s been through the scape of fire and death, and he burnt his nation to the ground. In case you didn’t know, Fire is the element of Gryffindor, so yeah, another red and gold boy.

JSchlatt

Schlatt is as both charming, charismatic and calm in the early days, using subtle manipulation tactics to get his way and achieve ultimate power. He’s ambitious, narcissistic, cunning, and tyrannical, while still hiding it all behind a facade of smiles and waves. He could also be both cruel and irresponsible at times, aka the time he had an underage child drink during an event, but ya know, mistakes. So all in all, I think it’s pretty clear that he’s a Snakey boy.

QuackityHQ

As much as I love CC!Quackity, I also fucking hate him because of the many, many different directions he’s taken this character which makes it possible for him to fit in literally any of the houses. The duckie is both Chaotic and lawful, he’s both friendly and hostile, he’s a smart cookie and a fucking dumbass, so like bruh. But, I’m gonna have to go with how he is now, which is manipulative, power hungry, cruel, and strong willed. Aka, another Slytherin.

Karl Jacobs

Finally, a character that is not broken down to the point of barely making out a readable personality. Karl is a kind and funny person, who is very open to new people considering how often he gives tours to visitors and new people, and he is quite literally loosing himself traveling through time in an attempt to help people. Hufflepuff

Awesamdude

This one I know will be controversial, but I’m saying Hufflepuff on him. Sam is one of the best cases of the Hufflepuff loyalty, literally letting both Tommy and Ghostbur be stuck and ultimately die in the prison just so he wouldn’t risk Dream breaking out. Before that point he was very kind and gentle towards Tommy, literally building a robot to keep him safe and take care of him. Sam nook is a reflection of Sam’s feelings towards Tommy, and they are kind and gentle.

Dropsbyponk

Ughhhh, another tough one. Ponk is a chaotic being who is mostly neutral in conflicts, but is shown to be very open about their feelings towards those they care about, like Sam or Foolish. They seem to be have strong feelings in what they believe in, and can be a bit brash sometimes, not really caring about the consequences of their actions, which is what makes me say Gryffindor for them.

Badboyhalo

Our favorite muffin demon. I assume, I don’t know what life you live. Anyways, Bad is like the stereotypical Hufflepuff. The kindhearted, well meaning, sweet, responsible Hufflepuff. The Hufflepuff that’s like in all of those incorrect quotes blogs and “Slytherin and Hufflepuff friendships uwu” posts. But for real, Bad is very Hufflepuff. He does however have Slytherin Loyalty, considering he pretty much sacrificed the entire server for Skeppy, but if you would try to convince me that Bad is a Slytherin I will just laugh at you

Skeppy

It was at this point I realized what I’ve gotten myself into with this post, which you know, not fun. Skeppy is both cocky and filled with energy, with a real ambition to cause chaos. He’s also shown to be willing to sacrifice himself for the person he loves, Bad, when he gave himself up to the egg. I’ve seen some people say Slytherin, but I’m kinda getting Gryffindor from the lad, so yeah, another lion.

Antfrost

Frosty here is a kind hearted person that for the most part seem to be along for the ride. He reminds me a bit of a parent of toddlers, with his patience and serenity towards the more chaotic people on the server, so of course my natural instinct is Hufflepuff. Buuuuut, then there’s again the issue with the egg and the Slytherin loyalty, this time towards his boyfriend Velvet who he was willing to join a cult for (relationship goals) but again, you can’t really say Ant is a Slytherin considering how wrecked he was about what he did while in the eggpire when he was released from it’s grasp. So yeah, Puffle boy

Captain Puffy

Oh captain my captain, you are such a Gryffindor. And some of you may disagree on that, stating that she’s a Hufflepuff or something (I did research before this to check what other people think, I know) but naaah, she a lion. Puffy is very motherly and protective towards other people on the server, especially the minors, but in the way that a Bear is protective towards its cub, which is gentle towards them but fierce towards others. Puffy also falls natural in the role of a leader as seen with Pro-Omelette, but that is kinda expected since she’s a past Pirate Captain. But she wasn’t the leader she was supposed to be, as she waited quite a while to act against the eggpire out of fear of hurting her friends, which lead to quite the damage towards the rest of the server. She’s also been shown to act on impulse, killing Antfrost and taking one of his lives after he killed her son. Idk if this is a good explanation of why I believe Puffy to be a Gryffindor, it sounds more like I’m claiming her to be a Slytherin or Hufflepuff, but she is a Gryffindor I promise!

Foolish Gamers

Foolish is a kind and friendly being, if not a bit naive and easily distracted. He’s also not the brightest person, in fact I’d go as far as to call the guy a Himbo, and he can be a bit skittish sometimes if he’s stressed or haven’t taken a break in a while. But despite it all, the guy is someone who’s creative and hard working, with a brilliant mind for his building. The man is an artist who can get grumpy if you suppress his creative aura, and put his heart and soul into his works. He also has a habit of getting wrapped up in big projects, and ignoring sleep or personal care until he’s finished them. This all leads me to say that Mr Gamers is a Ravenclaw, just not the smartest one. But hey, we can’t all be geniuses, can we.

Slimecicle

Slime is very naive and very trusting towards people around him, taking every word they say as a fact. He can also be a bit dark and ominous at times, but quickly shakes it off as nothing important. This all makes him quite childish, which is very hard to sort, so I’m gonna say Hufflepuff for his friendliness and move on.

Purpled Bedwars

I actually started loving this guy the minute I saw him, purely because Purple is my favorite colour, like my man has taste. Purpled, like Punz, is a guy who helps whoever pays him the most. He’s not interested in most things on the server, too busy looking out for number one (And Dogchamp of course). He’s very self reliant and resourceful, but still quite passive. He may not be the most ambitious guy, but Purpled is definitely a Slytherin (It also brings me and my girlfriend Serotonin knowing that the mercenary siblings are both in the same house, we love those two)

Hannahxxrose

I don’t watch Hannah that much, but god I love her voice, it makes my lesbian little heart happy. Hannah is a friendly person who is very naive about the conflicts on the server, thinking it all can can be solved by placing a rose (God I wish). She’s a good decorator and a good hearted person, who unfortunately fell victim to the egg’s influence. I’m going with Hufflepuff on her, but I’m honestly not entirely sure as I don’t know that much about her.

HBomb94

H is a very well meaning person that only really wants people to be friendly towards each other. He had a strict moral code and he keeps to it, as shown where Fundy tried to get his help with blowing shit up. He’s very helpful to those who ask and is willing to back up his friends when it’s needed, which makes me say that the friendly totally not dirty cat maid is a Hufflepuff.

Connoreatspants

I just want you all to know that I’m writing this before Connor’s lore stream that surely will just go against everything I say because fate hates me, just so ya know. Connor is not a person that does stuff on the server with lore and he for the most part keeps to himself, so this is a bit hard. Connor also has this thing where he likes to say things just to confuse him, and also making a bit of cursed lore, but he’s still a fairly humble person. He does lie and steal a bit, and has this habit of moving into other people’s houses, but I digress. I’m actually leaning towards Ravenclaw on him, for some reason, so that’s what I’m going with until I have more of an established character.

I know she has left the server and stuff, but she was one of the original members so it would be a crime not to include her. Alyssa is a bit chaotic, often going on killing sprees, or burning down the trees outside of L’Manburg. So I’m placing Alyssa in Gryffindor, but to be honest I don’t really know at this point.

How do you sort a person who does not speak, stream, or show like anything of his personality? The answer is, you don’t. Hufflepuff is the house of those who don’t fit in anywhere else, and that’s where I’m placing him.

Lazar was actually a big part of the exile arc which I realized after already have written his, so now I gotta rewrite it. Lazar is fairly ambitious on the server, and has the goal to obtain the most powerful objects on the server just to rival the other strong members of the smp. He’s especially against Tommy, and aims to do a lot to be the opposite of him, aka well respected and not a war criminal that got exiled (Totally fair goal). Despite that, he was able to show some empathy to the British child, even going as far as to give him a disk during his exile. This all makes me say Slytherin on him.

Michaelmcchill

Newest boy. Michael is a very apathetic person, showing little to no empathy towards most people’s trauma on the server. The person he does feel empathy for however is Dream, who of course did nothing wrong and is locked up in the prison which is just horrible oh no. Michael just truly does not care about what you’ve been through (as of now) which is why I’m gonna say Slytherin, because he does have Slytherin loyalty towards Mr Was Taken.

Myth references in AF: Artemis the Hunter

“‘It’s my father’s name,’ said Artemis, wearily having explained this a hundred times. ‘It can be used for girls or boys, and it means the hunter. Rather apt, don’t you think?’ “The Opal Deception, pg 178.

There’s a lot to be said about the goddess Artemis. I like to think of her as being a sort of insider-outsider type. She may have been daughter of Zeus and a true Olympian, but she also represented the wild and untamed, preferring to have dominion over the mountains and forests than the towns and cities. She was protective of women in childbirth, easing their pain, but was voluntarily chaste herself and  ferocious towards anyone who dared offend her or one of her followers. 

Given that her dad was Zeus it’s not really surprising that she was all for remaining a virgin.

So how does AF compare to the goddess herself?

There is no point in arguing that Artemis Fowl is not extraordinary, either above ground or below it, but how Artemis-like he is depends on what aspect of his personality you wish to focus on.

Artemis the businessman and Artemis the thief, puts him more in line with Hermes, God of Merchants and thieves; trickster.

Hermes is known for his smarts and cunningness. Mere hours after being born he was walking, talking, and stealing from his older brother Apollo (Artemis’ twin); he invented the lyre and the art of lying. 

Futhurmore, a common characteristic of a trickster is that they are boundary crossers, often moving from one world to another, sometimes stealing useful knowledge or technology from the gods to gift to the humans.

Crow stole fire and AF stole Fairy tech (which he eventually used for the good of the planet in the invention of the Ice Cube.)

Tricksters are always interesting to discuss so I think I’ll try to write another post about tricksters in AF.

And as for Artemis’ more refined nature I am reminded more of Athena (Minerva) who stood for the beauty of aestheics, the ideals in both mind and art, and plantonic love over the physical and shallow and lustful kind.

However, as AF matures he becomes more fiercely loyal to his friends.

This is the Hunter in him. He has lost loved ones so many times but he always finds to bring them back: his father, mother, and Butler.

And he will go to great lengths in order to succeed, (although sometimes this dogged perusal of his goals can be rather vicious, such as selling the lemur and cutting off Jon Spiro’s thumb, but still seems very Artemis-like nonetheless.)

I’m sure the goddess would approve of AF taking vengeance on those who hurt his friends; thankfully he never kills anyone or even displays a desire to physically hurt them, just to win the game.

And his character arc ends and we hear of him travelling to Mars, it seems that he has successfully transitioned from criminal mastermind to ruthless business man to art thief to scientist to explorer; a mixture of Hermes the Thief, Athena the Philosophical Art Lover, and Artemis the Hunter.

(Oh, and another reason that Artemis would approve of Arty is that he keeps Ace company in the form of Butler :D)

    Fiction stories: from “once upon a time “to “Sci-Fi”

    With the first “once upon a time” said by some teller gathering around a small crowed, entertaining them with his imagination. With every story, tales became an essential part of entertainment. From anecdotal tales passing on through generations, to fictional tales that are purely imaginative.

Stories became a way of entertaining as well as educating. For instance, stories of bravery are told in time of crisis and war, stories of brave soldiers as a way to give people hope. Furthermore, another type of story is told, stories of ordinary daily life, to cope with responsibilities. Folklore tales with humorous style, in which the protagonists is an ordinary person, that might be witty, or foolish and pedantic, in such stories the protagonist often uses tricks, wit or sometimes cunningness to avoid troubles and solve problems. Stories like, Juha, Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, the adventures of Sindbad, and Aladdin.  

Tales of pure imagination made children exited to lose their teeth, so a fairy would put money under their pillows as they sleep. Myths that terrified but also disciplined generations, and taught them not to mess around without their mothers, a myth such as, “Humarat Alqayla”, which literary translates to the donkey of the afternoon, a creature that has some part human and some donkey like that comes on hot afternoons to get disobedient kids, it originated in the Arabic gulf with some origins leading back to Najid, the image of that mythical creature is still present to those who were threatened by it, a story that they deny at times, and dread in another.

Fiction is considered as an attempt to answer pressing existential questions, this conclusion is clear in Mesopotamian myths, in the epic of Gilgamesh for instance, which is an epic poem that revolves around Gilgamesh, the son of an immortal goddess and a mortal human. The most intriguing aspect of this epic is that it is an attempt to understand human nature, as the story unfolds, Gilgamesh tries to understand life and death as a way to accept the inevitability of both as seeks his own immortality.

Using fictional stories to create a myth, a folk tale, has been and still is a way of education, of understanding, a way of self-discipline, as well as a coping mechanism to calm the dread of existence, while also serving the value of cultural legacies. All these myths and tales of dark ghost stores merging in human life, of tooth fairies that treat kids for not crying their lost teeth, is nothing but a glimpse of our curious nature, our imagination that is the gemstone of our intellectual capacity.

With all this huge collection of creative writing and imaginative abilities, we wonder about this genre of literature in our modern time. At the rise of technology there’s a great need for literature that discusses the latest inventions of modern-day science, topics such as, robots, artificial intelligence, space travel, time travel, etc.

Several novels of these topics have been published and critics called them “science fiction literature” which is a genre that caught the interest of readership, film directors, and cinema fans.

Looking at cinema we see examples such as, Theodor, the depressed letter writer in “Her” the story was written by Spike Jonze to represent the loneliness of Theodor’s life, who gets attached to Samantha, the artificial intelligence program with a feminine voice. She listens to him; she understands and knows him. Jones succeeded in depicting this complex and strange love story, as a science fictional prediction. 

This mysterious film, although depressing and boring to some, has a serenity to it, a slow burn that overwhelms you with a clear feeling of being focused, as you watch these confused characters find and understand their crisis, their identity, and their limits.

In 2050, which is a science fiction novel with a plot that revolves around the protagonist, M, an officer that struggles with his purpose in life, he seeks the companionship of a robotic doll, in a time that lacks human connection. M tries to find himself, in an attempt to understand the world he’s living in, as he wanders around overwhelmed with the huge world he lived in.

   “The temperature was forty degrees, .. below zero. moderate.. what was called skyscrapers thirty years ago doesn’t compare to these massive buildings, M used to pay attention to them, even when he flew clouds and clouds above, he used to be surprised by one or two of those buildings, he doesn’t have to be cautious now, he knows the sky like the palm of his hands, no one flies on his lane, only him and authorised people, his car now danced between those skyscrapers until he reached a big building, it was a local machine doll company, he looked at the fifty feet glass frontier that projected a changing image of dolls, taking different faces bodies and voices every minute. He looked closer, the doll was talking to him, he deactivated his noise control, stood at the heart of the sky, listening. Hey there captain, you look like an important man.”.   2050

M here, wanders around like Gilgamesh in his epic, looking to calm this troubling need of answers, he feels lost, the same way Theodore is lost, between his letters, his attachment to Samantha with her softly spoken ways.

Are these emotions real? Are they just a matter of programming … while Samantha knows she is programmed with these emotions, M’s doll understands that her awareness of human emotions is not programmed but rather naturally obtained. “Do I exist?.... Like you living, am I a part of the world?”

Through fiction, and fiction only. We are able to reflect on our present, predict our future, with the goal of understanding ourselves, our values and behaviours. Fiction is the soul of literary work, and through fiction, readers reach imaginations beyond their own expectations. Through imagining only, the reader escapes the realms of reality to new horizons and endless possibilities of captivating worlds in which science, technology, myths, and legends are all intertwined.

okay this mans is 100% a gryffindor

like this should not be a surprise to anyone

first off, we all know that harry potter is 100% problematic and loses house points for them all the time

now imagine freddie

this choice should come as no surprise as brian harold may is a true and true ravenclaw

we’re going to start off with how ravenclaws are all so goddamn cool and intelligent ????? like wow, no one can top that shit

brian may is literally a rockstar and astrophysicist and that’s some hardcore ravenclaw energy right there

ravenclaws are also so hardcore interested in the universe

they nut for philosophical conversations and that sort of shit

Destin seems like a Slytherin, but I think he could also be a Ravenclaw, like you said. Slytherins are often portrayed as shady masterminds and have had a history of pretty bad wizards, but their house attributes are cunningness, determination, adaptable, realistic, self reliant, and more. I think people, like the ones that don’t exactly know him enough to guess more accurately, would peg him as Slytherin. But those people would probably forget or not know that Destin wanted to be an engineer, and has made some pretty creative and intelligent inventions, such as the wind-seeker he made for Destiny. Some Ravenclaw attributes are analytical, intelligent, witty, creative, wise, observers more than participants, independent, self-entertaining, and fond of learning for the sake of learning. I think he’d fit Ravenclaw more accurately than Slytherin.

Evan could fit Hufflepuff or Gryffindor. He is extremely yet selectively loyal, honest (when he can be), genuine, playful, funny, hardworking, compassionate, passionate, stubborn, and more. Most of these can fit into either house. Though, to be honest, I think he would fit Gryffindor. Gryffindors have a strong moral compass and would not hesitate to try to set something right, which is exactly what Evan tried to do in the Shattered Realms. He owns his mistakes and tries to make up for them. Although obviously he has many Hufflepuff attributes, he fits more of the Gryffindor attributes.

Adrian has a strong pull to Ravenclaw. Like I said previously, Ravenclaw attributes are centered around intelligence and creativity. He would be an ill-suited Slytherin, since one of the main attributes is ambition and more centered around themselves. He wouldn’t fit Hufflepuff, since while he is very loyal, it isn’t exactly his most prominent trait. While he could fit Gryffindor for his bravery, practicality, stubbornness, and small sense of procrastination, Ravenclaw fits him better for his inquisitive, introspective, independent, and logical personality.

Jenna is a strong Slytherin. She is goal-driven, determined, self-reliant, adaptable, able to separate her idea of herself from what she does, and prepared. Though living in the moment tends to be a Gryffindor trait, she best fits the attributes of Slytherin. She treats people with respect, and she is very loyal to a select few. She respects others’ opinions, and she is very big on cost/benefit analysis. She would best suit Slytherin.

Lyss would best fit as Gryffindor. She is brave, hardworking, idealistic, and hates to back down from anything. She doesn’t hesitate to set something straight when she sees that something is wrong. She has a strong moral compass and is extremely loyal to those she cares about. She has a good judge of character and and is witty and smart.

Hal could fit either Hufflepuff or Slytherin. He is determined, loyal, genuine, honest, driven, adaptable, assertive, self-reliant, fair and just, passionate, open minded, and dependable. He thinks before he acts or speaks, and he gives viable arguments and weighs the other’s counter arguments with fairness. He hates to be wrong, and he hates to be beaten, but he learns from it and tries to put his efforts into what he believes is right. I feel that he would be in Slytherin, with some Hufflepuff traits.

Breon easily fits into Hufflepuff. He is very loyal to those he cares about, compassionate, good hearted, and accepting. He tells the truth when it really matters, and though he has the power to get people to do what he wants, he doesn’t like to use it for his own ambition, but to make people happy and to defend when needed. He is clever as well, and spins a complicated web of lies and somehow manages to keep most of it straight, which could point him in the direction of Ravenclaw. Though some people tend to peg Hufflepuffs as unemotional, he is very open about his emotions and his opinions, and shows how much he cares for someone without masking it very much. Hufflepuff is best suited for him.

Sasha is undeniably Gryffindor. She is extremely loyal, trusting, experience-oriented, honest, practical, and passionate. She is also blunt and wary of liars and manipulation. She doesn’t hesitate to protect those she cares about. She has a strong moral compass and though she doesn’t like to make mistakes, she tries to take something out of it to be better in the future.

Lila is Slytherin. She is intelligent, self-reliant, big on cost/benefit analysis, focuses on her goals, prepared, subtle, adaptable, realistic, and able to use her intelligence to as a tool to achieve her goals. Though if she were to follow in her father’s footsteps in a path that would have gotten her power, she chose instead the path that allowed her to work undercover and behind the scenes of great masterminded plans and reworked them so they could benefit herself and her country more. She is loyal to the small number of people she cares about.

Tldr; Destin is Ravenclaw, Evan is Gryffindor, Ash is Ravenclaw, Jenna is Slytherin, Lyss is Gryffindor, Hal is Slytherin, Breon is Hufflepuff, Sasha is Gryffindor, and Lila is Slytherin.

Flame in the Mist Review

5/5 stars Recommended for people who like: fantasy, strong female leads, multiple POV, Japanese folklore, Mulan-esque stories Having learned my lesson with previous Ahdieh books, I bought and read this one as soon as it came out. It was the perfect blend of things I'm interested in--Japan/Japanese, which I was taking in school when this came out, Mulan, folklore, fantasy, and strong female leads--and to top it off, it was written by one of my favorite authors. So, yeah, it was definitely a good choice for me to pick this up, even if the Mulan story line was really only there if you squinted. Mariko is an inventive, cunning character determined to subvert what's expected of her. From the very start we know a few things: 1) she's willing to subvert societal expectations, 2) she has a mind for inventing things and is likely educated, and 3) she also has a mind for revenge. These three core things are really what drive her throughout the story, first to get revenge on her parents, then to get revenge on the Black Clan, even if that means chopping off her hair and dressing as a boy to go undercover. Her plan to do so is methodical, too, and she's willing to put her inventiveness to the test to gain the Black Clan's trust, even if it means helping them a little to reach her end goal of revenging herself. I really liked how Ahdieh made Mariko's mind and intelligence the key thing about her, the thing she most prized, and then also worked to show the cracks in Mariko's knowledge about herself and family, the Black Clan, and the way her world works. It was a little bothersome that Mariko, with all her smarts and cunningness, couldn't figure out--or wasn't willing to acknowledge--the truth behind who attacked her. Perhaps that was also a point Ahdieh was trying to make, that Mariko's desire for revenge could blind her, even with her abilities to see past pretenses most of the time. Kenshin was...not my favorite character. Twin to Mariko, he follows a very different set of codes and it's clear from the start that he neither sees the world nor Mariko for how they actually are. Not having a twin myself, I can't say how well one knows the other, but there are things Kenshin assumes/thinks he knows about his twin that are wrong that I wouldn't get wrong about my regular sister, so that part of his character felt off to me. I did think he posed an interesting foil to the Black Clan, with each working with their own sense of justice and honor. Kenshin's samurai honor felt a lot like the idea that brutality begets rewards and a demand for blind obedience, which you can also see replicated in the Imperial City. Kenshin is definitely being used as a puppet, but unlike his sister, he either doesn't notice or doesn't care. Okami only got a couple of chapters, but he proved an interesting character as well. He hides things until the very end of the book, and even then only reveals some of his secrets for the sake of someone else. We don't get much about his past, but it's clear that Ahdieh wrote him to be one of Mariko's main adversaries throughout most of the book--though, like in Wrath , the adversary becomes the lover. They're well-matched in terms of intelligence, ability to sniff out lies, and their ability to lie/trick others. Okami is also very protective over the people he thinks of as his family, which encompasses only the Black Clan and Yumi for most of the book. I definitely liked his character and enjoyed the expansion on him we see in his novella Ōkami as well as in the next book, Smoke in the Sun. We also get a few chapters from the POV of the emperor, Kanako (the emperor's consort), and Genmei (the emperor's wife. The emperor is mostly naive and lazy, which is how Ahdieh has set him up to be characterized, and I found I didn't care much what happened to him at the end. Kanako and Genmei were each more cunning than the emperor and I was caught up in each of their plans for themselves, their respective son, and the empire of Wa. Like usual, the other minor characters we see throughout the book are well-rounded and developed, as if each could have their own novella waiting for them at the end. Yoshi, the Black Clan chef, is one such character. He's kind to Mariko, a bit of a gossip, is also willing to put other Black Clan members in their place, is a skilled knife-thrower, and, as it turns out, helped raise Ranmaru and Okami. There's a depth there that I definitely wish we got to see more of. Same with Okami's sister, Yumi, whom we definitely see more of in the future--if I'm not mistaken, she not only gets her own novella, but also her own chapters in Smoke . She seems both content with her position as a maiko, yet also possesses a fire that gives her strength, she definitely becomes one of my favorite characters. Ranmaru, of course, is another one. Leader of the Black Clan, he's the one willing to give Mariko a chance at becoming a member of the Black Clan and is willing to let her experiment and invent things. As with her other books, Ahdieh sets up a very beautiful, but dangerous, world for us to get into. This time, instead of an Arabian caliphate, we get a Japanese shogunate. The richness of the setting down to the description of the trees and the Imperial City of Inako is fantastic. It truly feels as though you are wandering through a cherry-petal filled lane or a forest just after it rained. Ahdieh also pays close attention to the lore of the location. The characters talk of yokai and Jubokko trees, both of which are things in actual Japanese folklore. Not to mention, she draws on many of the rich legends and histories that Japan has to add bulk and a sense of realism to the world. In terms of plot, the book is pretty solid. Mariko's plot line is mostly described above and in the synopsis. Kenshin's plot line is to find his sister as well as to serve as a pawn to get the larger overarching plot rolling. Okami and Yumi both have their main plots in the next book, and both have smaller, individual plot lines as well as ones that contribute to the story as a whole. The threads drawing each character and their individual plots together all weave and interconnect in the second book to bring to light the purpose and intent behind a lot of the events that occurred in this one.

a few thoughts on teddy lupin

i’ve been thinking about teddy lupin all day and what he means and represents. to me he is everything that is and could’ve been. obviously he is remus and tonks because he is their son. he is a metamorphmagus like his mother and the potential of being a werewolf lies in his dna because of his father.

he is a hufflepuff just like tonks, but he is also newt scamander brought into the 21st century, bringing that adventures spirit and the hufflepuff pride back to hogwarts. he is everything of a hufflepuff cedric diggory was and more, he got to be everything cedric couldn’t because of voldemort, he proved once and for all that hufflepuffs are more than just those who weren’t brave or intelligent or cunning.

teddy is all of the marauders. he is his father, remus, the intelligent, bookish, soft guy, marked by his past. he has his wit and his snark, he has his caring heart, looks out for the little guy and is so incredibly loyal to his people. but unlike remus he did not fear or hate that he could’ve been a werewolf, he is not afraid of what people thought about him. he does not put himself down like remus, he knows who he is and that he deserves to be here.

he is james in his recklessness, in his head-over-heels love for a girl, in his trusting, comforting nature. like james he is a headboy, someone who can be trusted with that position, someone who knows when it is time to step up. like james he might’ve made a habit out of making his hair a great mess. but he is more than james. he didn’t have to grow out of being a jerk like james had to. he was never a bully, he was always the james people talked fondly of and never the james snape remembers.

he is sirius in oh so many ways. he has his charm, the ability to turn heads while walking through the great hall, his sass and his protective heart. he has sirius’ self-confidence, pride, style and swagger. but teddy was fortunate and grew up in a loving family. he is what sirius could have been, if it weren’t for his ancestry. he could be forgiving and loving towards his family. what sirius had found with the potters, teddy always had with the potters too.

he is peter in his loyalty, his support, his underlying cunningness. he was not always conspicuous, often he managed to disappear in the crowd, unnoticed by those who usually saw him. but unlike peter, his loyalty sticks. he is everything peter could have been, the friend who stayed and protected, the friend who’d rather die than betray his best friends. teddy’s loyalty and support never wavers, he never gives up on a friend. he is all of the marauders, always ready for a prank, a plan, an adventure. he would go through hell and back for his friends and family, he would go the lengths wormtail, padfoot and prongs went to support moony.

teddy is harry. his parents died fighting for a better world for him to grow up in. his parents ended what harry’s began. he is everything harry could have been, if he’d been able to grow up with sirius or remus, if he’d known from the beginning that he was a wizard, what his parents died for. teddy is the orphan that harry was, but grew up with a loving grandmother and godfather. teddy knew that remus and tonks died to make his world a better, a safer place. teddy is the child of a war and sometimes that war rages at the surface of him. the injustice of it all bubbles up in moments of anger and loneliness when teddy misses the parents he never knew. but unlike harry who never got to ask, teddy had people all around him telling him the lovestory of remus lupin and nymphadora tonks and the tales of the battle of hogwarts.

teddy is ron, the unwavering friend, always supportive, always there to help and fight at all costs, no matter what. teddy is the ron weasley that befriends harry on the first trainride to hogwarts, he is the ron weasley that sacrifices himself in a battle of human chess, the ron weasley that stands with harry through everything. but teddy is more than ron, not letting himself be jealous of standing in someone else’s shadow, teddy is the man ron strived to be but failed because he never got the recognition he thought he deserved.

he is hermione in his intelligence and knowledge, showing up to hogwarts more prepared than anyone else. he has hermione’s ability to master spells after the first try, he has her wit and her ambitious nature. he read hogwarts, a history. he is interested in the muggle world, improving his magic through that knowledge. but he is more than hermione, knowing when friendship and bravery is more important than studying. he is a natural with a memory like a hundred computers, he never spends a minute more studying than necessary. he is hermione with a photographic memory.

but then he is also the weasley twins. he is fred and george, their inventive genius lives in him. he is so much sometimes that he feels like two people at once. he cares about his family, even though he likes to make fun of them from time to time. like the twins, he is there to create happiness in the darkest of times. he jokes and pranks and surrounds even the saddest people with a bubble of peace and calm and good feelings. he is what we see the twins be in the year with umbridge. he is the caring, loving student who sits with kids younger than him, terrified of teachers or detentions, calming them down, telling them it’s not that bad, it’ll be better soon. helping them with their anxieties. he is the healer i’m sure fred and george were in their own way.

teddy is neville. he is clumsy, keeps dropping things, running into people, embarrassing himself. he is attentive but forgetful, brave but doesn’t always believe in himself. he has neville’s interest in herbology, understanding than plants hold so much more than when you first look at them. like neville, teddy’s lost his parents to bellatrix lestrange and was raised by his grandmother. but teddy has never lived in the shadow of someone. frank and alice longbottom were heroes and clumsy little neville thought he could never live up to their bravery. teddy didn’t have that, even though he grew up knowing the story of his parents and surrounded by the order of the phoenix and harry potter himself. he never had to outgrow a shadow, he could blossom freely and independently. he is what neville could’ve always been, and maybe, after the battle of hogwarts, finally has become.

teddy is also luna. her spiritful nature, her faith in the good in people, her awkwardness, her calm, her unabashed enthusiasm and her loyalty. teddy is the free spirit that is luna loovegood, but he never drives himself in the off like she did. he never intentionally indulges in the image that he is this lone weirdo. he is never loony lovegood. he is the brave, loyal, enthusiastic, passionate luna. luna who cares and fights alongside her friends. he is the luna that accompanies harry to the ministry of magic, the luna that sits with neville after the battle, the luna that wears a lion head to the gryffindor quidditch match, the luna that is a true friend.

teddy lupin is all of these people and so much more. he is the one bringing the war generation back to hogwarts. in this new, beautiful, save world, he is the voice reminding them what they had lost and fought for. but he is also the voice of hope, the voice in troubled times telling them that everything will turn out okay because that’s how we do it here at hogwarts. he is the “everything is fine as long as dumbledore is in hogwarts” feeling of the new generation. he is the sorting hat reminding the students that the best they could do in bad situations, is to stick together, as wizards, as students of hogwarts. he is the healing tears of fawkes the phoenix, the gentle guardian like hagrid, the freedom of buckbeack, the calmness of the great lake.

teddy is the one to say, hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home, and you believe him.
