i wanted to add onto this.

in s5b when theo is with malia and braeden and braeden points her gun at him and says "he tried to kill scott." theo smirks and says "technically i did kill scott." hes completely unbothered by the accusation, seems happy to provoke her even further even though she just pointed a gun at him. he doesnt care to deny that he killed someone, is eager to point out that he did kill scott.

in s6a after liam brings him back and tells him that he should feel some remorse for killing josh and tracy, theo dryly replies "i just put them back the way i found them." he doesnt care to defend himself, doesnt try to lie. liam literally threatened him with the sword a few minutes ago, he has all the power in that situation. theo couldve stayed quiet or said something to please liam, considering liam could immediately put him back in the ground. instead, he yet again says something provocative.

in s6b when liam attacks gabe in the locker room, theo is the one to bring up his own history of being a murderer. "at least let me help. im the one with experience here." and then goes on about how to cover up the murder.

he doesnt ever shy away from admitting that hes killed. hes ruthless and cold and uncaring about it, even happy to point it out. he doesnt argue, doesnt try to manipulate people into believing something else. hes completely fine with telling the truth. even in situations where it would benefit him to shut up or at least try and not be an asshole.

so why would he be that agitated over stiles claiming that he killed his sister?

"but tumblr user theninth09" i hear you say "after liam brings him back and hayden tells him 'you killed your sister, remember?' theo basically agrees by saying 'im gonna kill you too.'"

well, yes. let me reiterate: i think he holds a lot of guilt over taras death. im not sure how that whole prison thing works, but he couldve gotten haunted by other people he killed or gotten tortured by a phantom of the dread doctors or whatever else. instead, its his sister until he breaks and tells her that she doesnt have to stop. once hes free, hes disoriented. he panics, attacks liam and has to ask where his sister is because he doesnt know whats going on, he doesnt understand yet that hes not imprisoned anymore. hes scared. hes at his most vulnerable.

so yeah, he agrees. he falls back onto what he knows: lashing out, being aggressive, threatening to kill people. and he just spent an eternity (literally) getting his heart ripped out of his chest by his sister, as punishment and revenge. obviously hes convinced that hes responsible for her death.

i dont think him agreeing with hayden is indication for him actually having killed tara.

do i think that all of this is canon/that the writers thought about it like that? no, not really. i think they couldve handled theos character (and literally every other character) a lot better, because if you just watch tw without obsessing over it like i have, this isnt all that obvious. and especially if you dont like theo because of what he did, it feels nitpicky and fanon to say that he didnt kill his sister, bc the show kinda wants you to believe that he did. itd just make A Lot more sense for his character if he didnt.

people dont actually believe that theo killed his sister, do they?

like okay. the entire pack and probably theo himself think that hes responsible for her death, but the pack hates him and doesnt trust him for valid reasons and theo is traumatized and holds guilt over her death so hes probably convinced himself that he did kill her. i just dont believe thats true.

in s5b when hes with stiles in the tunnels (i forgot why they're down there but whatever) and stiles tells him "oh yeah, the guy that killed his own sister when he was nine?" and theo argues back "yeah. i was nine. i had no idea what was going on." and that he also still believed santa exists so obviously he believed the dread doctors when they told him she wanted him to have his heart.

first of all: this is s5b. hes long dropped his act and he has no reason to lie in this moment. he knows that stiles wont fall for his lies and hes stopped lying and transitioned into threatening and intimidating anyway. theres no good reason for theo to lie to stiles here: theres no actual benefit that would come from that.

and his behavior points towards him telling the truth. instead of deflecting or making a joke, or any of the stuff he usually does to get his way, he starts explaining and defending himself. he seems almost agitated that stiles claims that he did kill tara and argues why he didnt.

and ofc stiles doesnt believe him and tells him "i think you pushed her. i think you liked it." which is, sorry, utter bullshit. i understand why stiles says this (yk. theo killed his bffie and all that) but i think stiles is purposely turning everything that he knows about theo into something evil. he doesnt want to believe that theo was a victim of his circumstances, because that would make him human, that would explain why he became the person that he is. its easier to fall back onto the "hes just purely evil" argument, because then he can hate theo for what he did.

stiles is smart. thats his whole thing. thats his whole thing with theo, that he was "smart enough not to trust him" as theo says to the sheriff in s6a. stiles knows that theo was a child, that its likely that theo got manipulated and groomed by the dread doctors. but, i think, he decides not to care about that, to ignore that. he hates theo and he wants to hate theo, but if he starts looking at the reasons for why he did what he did, he'll begin to understand him. and while he'll still never forgive theo, that will reduce this fury he has for him because, newsflash, theo was a CHILD.

people argue that tw doesnt show us enough of his back story to back this up and yeah, i kinda agree. we dont get enough of his story because teen wolf ALWAYS does this. with every character. they insinuate something, they start something interesting that could give their characters depth and then they abandon it and its like the characters just forget about it. all this show has is small details for fans to focus on if you want to analyze anything, because this show is objectively not good enough to actually do that.

+ theo is a side character. he wasnt even meant to stay as long as he did and cody did his best to work with the material. if your argument is that theres missing context and only vaguely shown stuff, im sorry but thats so stupid. thats not a good argument for in canon. "oh but we never see theo do this or that" HES A SIDE CHARACTER. he wasnt even supposed to come back! and tw is not a very good show! obviously they added more depth to his character in s6 because cody came back. like yeah theres stuff that doesnt make sense (like the show saying he didnt have a heart condition), because his back story got added as an afterthought in s6. you cant only look at s5 and judge his character based on that. his depth comes from s6 and its not the characters fault that the show has bad writing.

and if you simply dont like theo, cool. i dont like a bunch of characters in tw. but i find this argument that hes actually evil and deserved getting tortured and whatever exhausting and annoying.

if you dont have empathy for his character in s6 bc you just hate him, fine. i dont care. but if you're talking about this in a more analytical way? fuck off. he was a child, the show points towards him getting groomed and abused by the dread doctors and guess what? even during his villain arc, hes still a child. yes he should take responsibility for what he did, im not excusing any of that stuff. but theres reasons for why he did all that.

and again, dumb tv logic reasons, but most of the villains getting away unscathed, fucking peter hale and deucalion being allowed to just kinda wander around while theo is in an eternal time loop of torture? like this technically erases the packs rule of not killing because i dont think its weird for me to argue that getting non-stop tortured without the ability to die is objectively worse than actually dying. and yeah, tv logic, but if you think that (in canon, not just bc you personally dont like theo) he deserved that, idk. weird. very weird.

"Always expecting betrayal... But never from you"

The general who became a father to his soldier (spoilers for rwby v8 ch13)

Personal impressions:

I was so mad last week, thinking IW would have been defeated already/too soon but they tricked us. And I'm so glad it's a Winter vs. Ironwood fight. And the emotions.... I can't.

He was her father figure and I'm sure it was viewed like that from both sides. We were clearly shown what IW would do if anyone was in his way. Even when she disobeyed he didn't shoot her. He trusted her until the last moment.... We saw him get mad, break down and hopeless. But never cry. It's not just any soldier he's fighting. He's fighting his right hand. Winter Schnee, someone who was like a daughter to him.

But let's get to their actual relationship.

An essay on Winter in RWBY is planned btw.

Winter seems to have the highest rank in the military next to Ironwood, which is impressive for her age and shows her determination but also how IW believes in her

In V4 Jacques claimed that IW "stole his daughter" and IW hinted at that they often had this conversation

In V7 Jacques asked IW if Winter knew that Weiss returned to Atlas

From the point of V2 and V3 it seems that Winter still had contact to Jacques but not as much anymore in V7, something happened and I think because of the dust embargo IW and Jacques had their confrontation and Winter obviously chose IW's side and detached from her father completely

(It was always hinted (and I think even stated in the remnant guide book) that Winter protected her siblings and had to take the most abuse. And you can clearly see that by her type of fight or flight trauma and how she's literally supposed to represent the ice queen with her hidden emotions and stuff

You see her in that state of shock, fear, panic, trauma etc. when she realizes that she failed Ironwood. He was proud of her for catching Yang, Ren and Jaune and put his hand on her since they would be useful. Harriet then told him and I think this represents how someone like IW would be able to hurt her that much emotionally since he is in the position of an authority and a father figure to her)

Also he was ready to shoot his people at any time like the council man or Marrow but he didn't shoot her and allowed her to stay by her side

That and how she defends IW most of the time show how she trusts her judgment, IW trusts her judgement as well as seen in V4 when he told Jacques that Winter told him that there was a threat in Mistral

In World of Remnant we see IW walking past soldiers and Winter standing out. It was about the technical grooming of atlas students to join the military but you can tell from what we know of Ironwood, that he has a good heart (eruption fang made a vid on that recently)

When Winter told Weiss that "the general would have a place for you" She said it with such happiness, atlas and the military was winter's new home and IW gave her the chance to repurpose her life

She even defended IW in front of Jacques, her biological father and she takes great personal offense when his judgement is mistreated. Even when Weiss talked about trust Winter said that he would never hide anything from her

The offer with the Winter Maiden... You could say that he did this to control her and I'd accept your opinion... But there's one thing that makes me think that he still obviously also cared for her. Over the years he knew how much the military meant to her. She even told Penny that her life doesnt matter and only her job does. It means everything to her and like Winter said herself, she saw the Maiden powers as a privilege and it makes me feel like Ironwood saw them as something that would make her unique and give her once again a purpose that is unique to her and not just her being one of many soldiers

He even apologized, knowing it wouldn't be easy for her (since he expected Winter and not Ozcar) and when he had his talk with RWBY he called Winter her/Weiss' sister instead of just her name and idk but that just made this even more special

In Volume 8 it is once again shown how Winter is basically the one who also trusted Ironwood until the end. And in ch 12 she didnt judge him... She expressed her worries for his behavior. She couldn't believe the man who made her feel like she was everything would ever become so cruel

They way their worry for each other looks so similar

And while I know that they have a theme for the Atlas military , I think it's obvious how Winter looked even more like IW in all her outfits compared to the rest of the military

Many people think Ironwood is dumb for over trusting Winter but I think it shows his flaw as a general. He let's his emotions get in the way since he cares about her and continues to trust her even though she disobeyed orders

His last words were "As my last order: step aside", he could've just shot her again as she layed defenseless on the ground but he didn't

Remember how in the first episode he said "Thank you Winter, I don't know what I would do without you"

Right before, she said that she'll be fine without him asking anything. It sounds a little more personal in my opinion. Why would you tell your boss that you'll be fine without him asking about your status? the conversation was literally about Qrow and Robyn before but he looked worried and wanted the room for themselves and she immediately said that.

Some people also talk about how they emphasized with Ironwood in volume 7 since wasn't shown to have family or a partner yet would do anything for Atlas. But again, he did care about Winter a lot and wanted her to be save.

Something I also noticed when writing this is that in volume 3 Ironwood called her Schnee yet in V7 he calls the Ace Ops and her via first name basis. Clover said that he trusts Ironwood with this life and I think that's how Winter and the Ace ops felt about him, the person who gave them hope. Especially Winter.

And now we're here. Seeing the man cry a tear. We know now, if Winter wins, she has to kill him. Imprisoning him wasn't enough. And I think that will be her final moment of her being a "Ice Queen", when she has to kill him, she will probably turn to her emotional side and grieve.

As mentioned, the military, her position, her rank and Ironwood meant everything to her. She talked so enthusiastically when she had her conversation with Weiss about moving in together without their father and how IW has a place for her younger sister. And now along with Ironwood, both are in a situation they never thought they'd be in.

That was it from me. In short form , I just wanted to share some ideas and things I've noticed about their relationship and dynamic. None of this is meant as a romantic way and you can of course disagree but please stay respectful. Thank you and we'll see each other next chapter<3

i wanna talk about claire & douxie

so im on episode 4 and just got to the scene where claire uses her shadow magic to create a portal for them to go see the lady of the lake. this scene is claire’s moment of development and i loved it for her. i dont wanna take away from that but i also loved it because of claire and douxie’s bond during it. im sure there will be several other posts about how awesome this was claire bc it really was, so i guess just take this as another perspective on the scene.

before i start i would just like to say: this post is about their strictly platonic relationship. i dont ship them and honestly dont know how i feel about them as a ship in general since douxie is significantly older than them (”college aged”) and i dont really think its right. especially bc on the wiki it says claire is only 15-16 (im guessing 16 since its been A Minute since s1 of trollhunters lol) and in the show douxie canonly says he’s 19-esque. so pls dont go reading this in ya know that kind of lense bc thats not my intention.

alright so now that i’ve got that out the way

from the start douxie has obviously gravitated towards claire because of their shared understanding of magic. when they first drop in camelot, he confides in her the most and whenever she gets upset he takes it strongly, seemingly as a personal hit. like when he tried to talk about the brightside of jim being imprisoned and then claire bursts into tears (bc obviously lol it really wasnt a great situation to be in). but i really wanna talk about the scene in episode 4 when claire starts to become more comfortable with her magic.

douxie comes up with the plan in the first place because he has full confidence in claire’s abilities. he starts off by talking about how amazing her powers are and that she shouldn’t be afraid of herself. he expresses not one ounce of doubt abt how strong claire is and fully supports her, even when claire refuses to herself.

seeing morgana die and knowing they share the same magic was an understandably awful thing for claire to witness, and she is obviously traumatized from it as she still has nightmares and visions about morgana’s death. but then douxie, who has complete & utter faith in her, encourages her to use her magic. so she tries just because he asked. claire tho who still feels uncertain asks for his help in return, and douxie is completely shocked by it. i have expressed several times how much i hate merlin and i am NOT afraid to do it again bc i 100% blame his constant degradation for douxie’s low self esteem.

which also leads me to believe that douxie connects with claire, not only bc of their use of magic but because he also sees himself in her. they both have little confidence in their powers that stem somewhat from their predecessors. douxie vs merlin’s nonstop insults and claire vs morgana’s seemingly inevitable evilness. he sees himself in her because he was her (and still is) and subconsciously, as most of us do, wants to become the support he wish he had.

but helping those younger than you/who were in your shoes also has a way of making you reflect on yourself too. which is why, even tho he was fully prepared to give claire emotional encouragement, he was blindsided when she asked for his teaching. he wants to help raise claire’s confidence, but has yet to work on his own.

when the rock.... wall...... thingies.... insult douxie and agree on him being subpar, claire (and archie but this aint about him) immediately fires back at them to cool it. and while douxie didn’t disagree with the rockwallthingies, he clearly appreciated claire standing up for him and smiles about it. her sticking up for him helps give him the boost he needed to teach her what he knows.

while attempting the portal, douxie gives her constant words of encouragement. and when claire, who is gradually becoming more and more unstable, confesses that she is afraid, his tone changes and becomes softer. he is still confident in her abilities, but also knows how overwhelming they can be and doesn’t hesitate to switch from determined support to warm reassurance.

things turn for the worse tho when claire ends up giving into her fear and the shadow portal swallows her.

(i tried my best to gif what happens bc i dont think a screenshot would do it justice)

once claire succumbs to her fear and her magic swallows her whole, douxie hyperventilates. i’d even say he was panicking bc this was the one thing neither of them wanted to happen. its both of their fears happening all at once. douxie’s initial fear of being a bad teacher/influence/magic user in general and claire’s fear that her magic will overpower her, both being proven right in the worst way possible.

what douxie doesnt realize yet is that his teaching didnt fail. while claire is in the shadow realm, she sees morgana’s corpse again and freezes up. but then she pauses as soon as she remembers douxie’s words “dont let fear control you. stay true to yourself.” and with the help of his previous support, she gains the courage to finally face what she’s been afraid of and brings herself back to them. while douxie is terrified that he’s failed claire, it’s actually his words that help her succeed.

once claire comes back, douxie is immediately up and grabs her face to check for injuries. he crowds her so much, archie even has to tell him to relax and give her space. douxie is skilled in magic, but he has no idea what shadow magic and all it entails is actually like, so it isnt unreasonable for his imagination to have run wild with all the dangers claire could’ve been exposed to.

claire rambles about what happened (rambling claire is the most adorable claire) but douxie misreads her curiosity as anxiety and goes to comfort her again. “we understand if you dont want to go back in” its just constant constant support from this guy! (which is funnily enough the exact opposite of what he received from merlin.) he sees her eyes are glued to morgana’s spell book and gently pushes it away. in his mind, what happened in the shadow realm was most likely a bad experience and instead of trying to force her to do it again, he tells her to not feel rushed to go back in. he gets that what he thought was encouragement might’ve actually been pressure and doesn’t hesitate to make sure claire knows that they, and he, will support whatever she wants to do.

claire quickly tells him that’s not the case and that she’s fine. and whether or not she’s aware of his insecurities yet, she lets him know his influence was actually a great help.

the positive words surprise douxie and make him smile. once again, claire’s kindness has uplifted his spirits.

between these two its just a back and forth of nonstop support. douxie helps claire not be afraid of her own magic, and claire helps douxie not fall into self deprecation. as the show goes on i think they will grow to have a very strong sibling-like bond and i cant wait to see it.

i just think it could be interesting okay. sorry that this is so long but hear me out.

the whole thing with rattleballs being programmed to serve pb "100%", which is intentionally paralleled with finn's dedication to bonnie to the point where he sells rattleballs out, even though he'd explained to him that pb had destroyed all of the rest of the rattleball units and he alone managed to escape, and just barely (i know that was because finn figured bonnie would do the right thing but again that assumption came after hearing a whole story about destroying a bunch of guys). its only through fighting his nature and disobeying direct orders that hes able to survive, but in the end when hes found out and confronted again he submits to that same loyalty and tells pb she can do with him what she wants

when she instead says that he can continue protecting the kingdom from the shadows, he does literally respond with "that is marginally better than hiding in a dump", but then when she makes the gesture to effectively Knight him end ups being touched and coming to appreciate the gesture

we dont get to see much more of it onscreen but obviously making him and finn parallels was super intentional, i think down to rattleballs talking about how he and the other units were "programmed to crave violence" but he'd managed to find peace and use it only when necessary; a lot of finn's arc over the show deals with the same thing, i think stated the most outright and strongly in gumbaldia when he goes on his last-ditch diplomacy mission (which he also disobeys pb to do !!!)

IN CONTRAST !! scarab is a guy who follows the rules of his job to the letter, to the point where hes imprisoning his coworkers for very minor offenses that dont actually do any harm. when orbo wont listen to him the first time he tries to go directly to the capital B Boss (and seems to defer to whoever they are more than anybody else. at least up until. Well You Know), but when orbo offers to hear him out personally he tries to appeal to his authority after all

this plus his reaction to when his boss tells him to back off of fionnaworld once its canonized ("its not fair ! i did everything right !") leads me to believe that he doesnt just start being disobedient after the call telling him he cant repo fionnaworld, or even just when he starts ignoring the incoming calls as hes trying to track them down through the multiverse; he was always going to follow his own will and instinct, against the direct authority he felt loyal to 🤔 almost kind of like somebody else we just discussed

just like rattleballs though, he kind of ends up where he started (its not a perfect 1-to-1 okay. but none of these are). prismo even says it was orbo who "let him off easy" (though with prismo "putting in a good word for him"), so orbo is still his boss. and if we're to take it into consideration that orbo is the one who decided his punishment, idk. up to viewer interpretation if it was more prismo or orbo's idea, but that sounds like a gesture of some kind to me considering how badly he wanted to be wishmaster. obviously he might not appreciate it now...

but a couple hundred years is a long time !

so finn and rattleballs have some parallels to each other, what about fionna and scarab ? well firstly theres this post by @finedinereception that i love that points out how both of them have had to deal with being in seemingly dead-end job(s) they dont want, and denied what they feel like is their "true calling in a way", but i dont think it stops there !

now, how much scarab actually cares that fionna and cake are possibly corrupting other universes, and how much he just wants to undermine prismo and/or get back at him in his imagined one-sided ongoing rivalry is a different post (personally i think its a little of column A and a little of column B), but the fact of the matter is that as much as fionna and cake deserve to exist and shouldnt have their entire universe exploded, their appearances in other universes do have unintended consequences (i wanna say both negative and positive because of the appearance of the tank at the end but thats. the execution of that is debatable. but i see what they were going for.)

fionna hasnt gotten to learn the same lessons over the same amount of time that finn has, so it makes sense that her guilt with treating some of the other denizens of these universes like their npcs and beating on them in the beginning begins to compound with stuff she cant actually control, like what glitches appear where and why. and scarab picks up on this !

later when she makes the effort to tell him "no hard feelings", its not just that shes telling him she doesnt want to hold a grudge over him for trying to repo their universe before it was canonized, in a twist of irony (that i fucking love so much), shes like the one person telling him what he probably wants to hear: he kind of had a point. she knows where he was coming from. i mean she learned a lot about being more responsible with her actions, and whether scarab realized it or not he kind of helped her learn that lesson (though the suicide baiting and attempted murder were not necessary)

and scarab obviously got schooled too lets be real. we dont even know what those other alerts he was ignoring were for (except for the one with the cosmic owl lmao) but i dont think its a stretch to say he was putting other universes at expense to chase his own fantasy. i mean i think if nothing else him absolutely fucking shit up in the farmworld universe counts as a clear example of just that

now i know scarab gets to hang out in the time room and fionnaworld has a bit of magic to it now with some of the other universal crossovers, ANDDD im glad fionna grew to appreciate her world for what it was. and those are both their own kind of happy endings. that being said it kind of feels like she mostly only got to see the scarier and more messed up sides of The Magic shed been dreaming of and that just doesnt feel right to me. i also think its unfair that she should be the only finn variation (that we see) who doesnt get to have melee weapon (specifically sword) proficiency. even babyworld finn got to show off some stake sword skills in the tank. im just saying. if she were to ever wish for the ability to fight like a total badass the way her other alt selves get to... sounds to me like a good "practice wish" to theoretically try to grant

and even disregarding everything else above, even if you disagree with me which is totally fine, you can't disagree with this: they threw eggs at him

JL confronts Marinette

From bio!dad Strange au, where they made her kryptonian to keep her alive. This is post-Hawkmoth (debating using a random and revamping Gabriel altogether tbh)

“Don’t.” Marinette was tired of heroes, tired of being one. She had to handle hawkmoth’s fallout, keeping so many secret identities (hers, JL, miraculus team, her gotham family’s) and she just wanted to sleep.

Flash found her first, but Superman grabbed her and put her in the air for a ‘talk’.

“Don’t what?” She knew superman wasnt a detective. She knew he was a reporter though and she could see baiting and needling just under the surface. He’s an interrigator then, she decided.

“Don’t come in and try to fix what the miraculous team already handled. Paris was abbadonned by your league.”

She figured this was about Ladybug. Paris is always going off the the miraculous holders and ladybugs were always deemed the defacto leaders. She liked that Daesuqa (Talia) took over leading long term missions for the most part, handled meetings and politics so her and Chat and the others could be more like the teens they are in theory.

And everyone knew Marinette was Chat Noir’s favorite after she got how many akumatized people to release their akuma on their own? And that she supplied mirauclous users with kwami food (though it was common for many other civilians). It was common knowledge to all, but Hawkmoth apparently, that if Chat or his miraculous team or the entire team was needed, you went to Marinette.

Superman furrowed his brow at that though. “I didn’t know there was an active team here.”

So it wasn’t about the miraculous or years of magic terrorism her city endured?

“Been here for years. Hawkmoth’s sentencing is in a few hours.”

She hoped it was the kwami’s choice. Tikki murmured that people were surprised by what they could live through, and she is thw kwami of life. Tikki would make him wish he was dead routinely. He deserved it for regualrly slaughtering the city.

“No, that’s...” superman shook his head. “I came here to talk to you about...” he gestures to her then. She didn’t get it until she realized she was floating on her own.

When did he let her go?

“I know you’re Princess.”

“And i know you’ve been poisoning yourself to stay hidden.”

Antidotes came from venom. It was fone to ise the stickers, they kept her human. The crystals were for emergencies only.

“What I don’t get is why.”

Why would she want him to kidnap, or abduct her? Take her from her family? Her life?

Don’t show that you’re who he thinks, anvocie whispered. Keep being the Paris Marinette from social media. The savage who snarled Weredad into submission.

“I really think you have the wrong girl. Its listed under my file as a volunteer flyer that i’m a flying meta, like most of the flyers.” Good, keep it up.

“And superman, if I had to guess why some girl that i look like would supress their powers, its becuase this is France and until the Miraculous team came clean about some being meta, you were imprisoned on suspicions of being meta, even infants were, are in the rest of France. Paris is the only place you arent imprisoned for it.”

Superman paled at that. “I. I wasn’t aware.”

“why would you be?”

Superman did respond to that.

“And if this Princess of yours is still hiding, she might be protecting her loved ones. Or maybe she thinks you’d steal her away from her life and home? Everyone knows about the fortress of solitude and i dont think anyone besides you would like living there, especially so far from people.”

Marinette watched him process. As long as Red Robin didnt see her, didnt confirm her identity, she was in the clear.

“Now if you’d excuse me, I’m needed to finish filling out a report on the final battle.”

That had superman’s attention.

“Final battle.”

“Yes, we just took down Hawkmoth a week ago.”

“He already has his trial, in a week.” Disbelief. Not worng either.

“It took the citizens of paris a week to finish voting. Finally tallies come in tonight if we try him as humans or if the kwami—gods of various concepts—are the ones to try him for his crimes. Afterall, he enslaved one kwami and abused another.”

Superman was not doing well, far too pale. Shock? No, they sent so many videos before the JL banned them.

Guilt. Regret, too. Probably.

“Now can you put me down somewhere? I’m not out as a meta and indont plan on being out anytime soon. Any supporting the miraculous teams do have their enemies too, and i dont want to be targetted.”

Superman nodded. Numb? Possible.

She let hersef be taken down.

Pegasus was there, Flash on his way. Another person who could make her.

She had to move fast.

“I hope I cleared things up?”

Superman nodded.

Max was ready to fight, glaring at the blue boyscout.

“Ready to go Miss DC?”

Marinette nodded, letting him guide her to the portal.

Flash didnt make it in, but he didnt see her face either. She’s take the narrow victory.

They exited in the Paris Grande Hotel. The Mayor had Batman and Red Robin with him. Crap.

“Is this...”

“Our civilian contact, Miss DC,” Pegasus stated almost too professionally. Great, now Red would know they know each other as friends. batman too.

“Batman, Red Robin, correct?”

“Yes. We, we just found your heroes videos and came to help. I see we’re too late too.”

Marientte nodded, avioding eye contact with Red. She wasnt sure if he learned to act infront of Batman yet, and wasnt risking it.

“I heard you came up with many of the emergency procedures and built the comms system with Pegasus.”

“As a flyer, yes. As Miss DC I just make sure the team stays fed and Chat doesnt forget to sleep.”

Batman shot Red Robin a look as he said, “I know the feeling.”

Marinette didnt fight the smile then. Yes, that was her Hero Stalker Tim alright.

“Would you two be interested in helping the league develop a better system to sort incoming messages?”

Pegasus moved first. “If we do, Miss DC is to be left alone. Her mother is very atrict about her not getting involved in science, and refuses to believe that her daughter has been actively helping the miraculous team.”

Batman turned his attention to Marinette then. “Is that so?”

Marinette nodded. “My birth father and her left on... terms i never got the jist of. He and his friends teach me in secret. Mama,” not maman, she forced herself to say, “she said something about it being destructive and dangerous, so she wants me to stick to the arts instead.”

Batman nodded. “Experiments can be, but that doesnt undercut the good you’ve done. I’ll tell the league you will work off-site should you accept.”

Marinette nodded along. “I can help where Pegasus gets stuck, and be contacted through him but otherwise would prefer not to be contacted by the League. I’m a civilian, and no offense, but there ahve been leaks before.”

“Understandable. The league thanks you for your help, and apoligizes for what you went through.”

Marinette could feel the hole Red Robin was burning into her. He earings. And the fox miraculous. Shit. He knew.

Marinette wanted to punch the league in their face collectively.

“All May i go now, i have a meeting to get to.”

“Of course.”

Pegasus opened the portal and escorted her out.

They both waited five minites, Max feeding Kaalki, for the call.

“So why didnt you tell me?” Tim was pissed.

“Media blackout. Any time i tried to call it was blocked.”

Tim swore. “Alfred!”

“You are so lucky Pegasus doesnt know anything about gotham.”

“He’s there?”

“I work with him alot.”

“So when you visited Gotham...”

“French government would know. Not hard to connect the dots of girl leaves to see gotham fmaily and suddenly the league shows up after banning all of Paris from contact.”

“I. When did it happen?”

“Before Chrismas. I would have had Nonna tell you but she didnt know either until after the fact and they said if she told anyone itd be me going to jail for her.”

“That’s. What hellscape do you live in?”

“I died so many times i don’t even know now.” She stopped keeping track after she got into the eighties. That wasn’t even a full year into being Ladybug.

“That’s not comforting.”

“Please tell me that you’re not outing me to Bats. I just got two leaguers off my tail.”

“I won’t tell him, but if the new Robin does i’m not stopping him.”

She almost forgot Talia’s son was a Robin. She didnt see him in uniform yet—as Damian (not wayne but damian who was mourning lost family, damian who didnt know how to talk to people his age). She knows he’s a bit thick with social cues, and his detective skills need work in her opinion but he’s skeptical and has good insticts. He might make her as Marinette if he’s there.

“Is he...”

“He’s with the Titans now, but theyre debating coming here to yell at the league.”

“Videoing it?”

“Obviously. Want a copy?”

“Ill make popcorn before watching.”

“Rkc are doing well by the way—stopped a human trafficking ring and i think they took the victims.”

“Harley’s working with them,” marientte got he update earlier. “Hood and zsasz took out the lower and mid tier that woudlnt snitch. The case should be smooth sailing—the sirens put out a blanket hit on anyone trying to touch the witnesses.”

“So managing two teams this whole time,” red murmured, almost... bitter, or disapointed in something—no someone. Himself?

“Just tweaking things. Daesuqa handles most the team since she found me and Chat. Apparently she was compatible enough to do a lot of the non-fighting work. I still did battle strategy and all but,” Marinette shrugged.

“She focused in survival aspects here, and long term stability for Gotham. Daesuqa has handled most of non-kwami work here outside of kwami and candidates,” Max added. “On top of her work as a student and designer and inventor.”

Red Robin groaned. “When do you sleep?”

Marinette hummed. “I have meds to make me. And angry family to make me take them.”

“Her... what are we calling him now?” Mac was asking about Felix, adiren’s gremlin cousin who’s mom isntryign to adopt her. Also a fellow reverse theif and possessive friend.

“Uh, gremlin.”

“Her gremlin calls to let is know if she does get rest on the weekends and we trade off on weekdays.”

Red robin hummed into the phone. “So staying to the shadows?”

Trixx and Tikki looked up at Marinette at that. tikki wanted her to be the Ladybug, the be seen and everywhere and she...

Trixx knew why Marinette liked the shadows and background. Trix understood that bit.

“Yeah, i’ll still play in between and have some kwami things for life now.” She and Chat were working out gaurdian duties still.

She wasnt interested in the JL.

Do you have any hcs for Magnus taking ppl to pride for the first time? I kinda feel like he’d act as a guide for others, making sure everyone feels safe and happy during their first time. Like, I can picture him bringing daylighter Raphael out for the first time, showing Meliorn around (bc even though they’ve been around for a while, the Seelies don’t really do human stuff) and holding Alec’s hand while he looks around in amazement.

well surprise surprise this got very long. bet y’all never saw that coming

ok so i particularly love this ask because like, the idea of meliorn going to pride for the first time is a riot and i adore it

like seelie society has developed completely independently from mundane society in every way, hell, it existed before humans did. so there's absolutely no reason whatsoever to believe that their culture even has the concepts of gender of sexuality, and believing that it would be the same as modern western ones is just straight up anachronistic tbh

so like personally i hc that seelie society has no gender (and therefore no concept of sexuality in the way that we see it), so the idea of pride- doesn't even make sense to them, cuz there's no concept of these identities, much less a history of oppression that would bring forward the need to celebrate their resistance like there currently is

so meliorn would want to go just to like, see what that's like and what's it all about. and the whole time they're just following Magnus around and like, taking notes. hm, interesting, what is this trans thing again? ah yes, people who dont think their personality matches the one mundanes believe would be brought by their genitals. hm. fascinating. and Magnus is just like, laughing loudly and it's the best pride he's ever been to, because he knows how ridiculous queerphobia and cishetnormativity are, but meliorn can make that so clear in their words in a way thats just, like, fantastic to hear, you know? and they dont even mean to, but it's great all the same

plus meliorn actually does feel good because a lot of people look at them and smile broadly or even wave, especially younger people who are just like, in awe of them and Magnus, who are so unapologetically gnc and indisputably beautiful, and looking at them is just like, inspiring, you know? and Meliorn has never felt this admired and appreciated and they dont even fully understand why, they're just walking around in their usual clothing and leaf makeup and everyone is just like, in love with them. and it's nice. they can tell there's an edge of sadness to the whole thing, like how their normal everyday existence seems to be so shocking and refreshing for these people, but mostly they feel good about it

later they bring their findings to the other seelies - you know, the ones who dont usually leave the realm and are way less familiar with mundane culture(s) than they are - and the others are like. shut up. there's no way this is real. the shape of their genital defines what wavelength they are supposed to find appealing? this makes no sense. and meliorn's like "idk what to tell u buddy i literally physically can't lie" and they're like surely this is an elaborate prank

but anyway it's fun and nice and they enjoy it greatly and ask Magnus a lot of questions, and Magnus loves going with them more than anyone else because its just so fun and the way this is completely unnatural to them feels refreshing - Magnus doesnt have to explain why he feels the way he feels, for once, but rather he has to explain why people dont get that, and thats a good change tbh

okay onto other ppl im sorry for this tangent djdndjdndk RAPHAEL YES. god i just. okay i love the mental image of Magnus taking Raphael to pride aaaaaaaa

like okay first of all so many layeRS to make this emotional, okay. the fact that he's now a daylighter and can enjoy being out in the sun, the fact that this is a bright costumed parade and it kinda reminds him of the día de los muertos parade and makes him feel at home, the fact that he gets to celebrate and meet other ace ppl - just, so many good things going on here dundidmdi

and Raphael was kinda unsure about going because 1- pride can get pretty sexual at times, and while he gets it and doesn't mind other people's business, he doesn't want to be hit on or participate in that; 2- big crowd makes senses go craycray and it can get very overwhelming and he's scared of overload, plus it's just not his scene in general with huge parties and such. but a part of him does want to go and he's torn, so of course Magnus is immediately like "oh dear, don't worry, i can take you, i'll make sure it's good" and Raphael is like okay

so Magnus takes him and it's :') nice, because as always he’s just so attentive. disclosure i’ve only ever been to the São Paulo pride so i’m gonna go with how it works in here but im assuming it’s not that different in like, other places. also São Paulo currently has the biggest pride parade in the world along with NYC so you know, i think it’s influential at the very least

anyway so he finds a section that’s led by ace pride groups, one that’s considerably small (in number of ppl) and spacious, and it’s. nice. very nice. magnus makes it a point to paint the ace pride colors on raphael’s face (we deserve raphael in makeup tbh) and raphael is all like “it’s fine, it’s not like i’ll want to draw a lot of attention” (like he isn’t wearing the ace flag colors already) and magnus is like hush, let me have this, i want my boy to have a good pride experience. so raphael lets him and hides his smile and lets him, and it’s. cute okay

also idk why but i have the mental image of raphael seeing some other latino guy with some sign like. “i’m not your fetish” or something of the sort, and kind of tearing up because his whole life he’s been seen as this kind of sexual fantasy that couldn’t not be about sex, much less not be interested in it, and he feels seen. and it’s nice, okay

and as promised it’s not too overwhelming in matters of like people, tactile issues and such (there’s little magnus can do about the noise other than spell raphael to decrease his sensitivity so he doesn’t get overwhelmed, which is not ideal because it makes communication a bit harder between them, but he does it anyway if raphael asks him to), and if raphael gets tired, they can always turn into a corner and take a portal back home and cuddle the post-crowd jitteriness away. so it’s a success. and raphael hugs magnus later and thanks him and says that it was so great, that he’s missed this, the energy and the colors and the sun, and he never thought he’d get to have it again, and he did thanks to magnus. and magnus hugs him back and tells him “anything for you, my boy,” and it’s the sweetest thing okay im emo

also okay this still falls under Raphael and Meliorn but the POLYCULE okay, or at least saiaphaeliorn. like sign me the fuck up for the 4 of them together at pride, meliorn and magnus helping make some cute pride-themed makeup on the other 3, just aaaaaaaaa. maia looking absolutely gorgeous with her face framed in the bright bi colors, maybe a sunny dress with the trans flag colors? just because i think she’d look so cute in like, a mostly white dress with baby pink and blue details, okay. simon just paints the pan flag on his cheek but it’s still vibrant and cute and it suits him. and ghhghghghg meliorn delicately painting raphael’s face with colorful glitter..... effervescent, okay. just beautiful

and they get to hold hands in public and laugh and crack jokes and simon loves the music and the festival and raphael smiles fondly at him and maia singing along (him and meliorn definitely don’t know what the fuck they’re singing, but it’s okay because they’re clearly happy and that makes the two of them happy too) and just duahsdiahdaiuha soft okay. also they all get to experience meliorn’s takes on the whole thing and it’s fantastic and as usual meliorn gets raphael to laugh until he almost cries, and simon smiles brightly at the sight and gives meliorn a peck for their efforts, and just aaaaaaaa

in short they’re SOFT and i’m SOFT. and look yes i know that usually parades esp big ones are super crowded (lord knows the SP pride parade is an experience) but if in SP with 5 million ppl parading i could find sections with less people where you had enough space to walk holding hands and hear each other and not be overwhelmed, then i’m sure they can too, especially with magic and powers at their disposal. so i’m going to have this

also like. as much fun as this is for magnus (and it definitely is, it’s very nice to get to enjoy to be himself openly, and to bring kids there for their first time, and you know), it’s also bittersweet because like. he was there at stonewall, he was there for the first pride, you know? and apart from the obvious part where he lost so many friends who were there, there’s just. the very bad memories of the riots, because as important as they are and as much as he obviously doesn’t regret them, riots are hard, they are the language of the oppressed. he’s had to magically protect people from being shot by the police, he’s had to withstand trial by the Clave for using magic to shield the people from the tear gas and risking being seen, he’s had to save a lot of lives and he’s failed at it sometimes, too (i’ll always hc that he’s the reason neither Marsha nor Sylvia died during the riots and you can pry that away from my cold, dead hands). and he’s also seen it be whitewashed and lose some of its resistance and meaning, he’s seen Sylvia be booed at a later march when she spoke against imprisonment, and he’s seen so much be lost

and in that sense going to pride with alec later on might be his favorite, because it’s not like, a first time where he’s trying to get everyone to have the most fun they can and shit, you know? plus alec loves watching more than he does participating, he feels way too exposed in the crowded streets with so many openings and whatnot. but watching from a rooftop, where he has the best view, can still hear the sounds and enjoy the colors and the beauty of it from a distance? that’s perfect for him, and it’s a different experience

and magnus sits by his side as they watch, hand in hand, and reminisces about everything that he’s experienced after so many years, all the changes he’s seen, how he feels pride but he also feels loss and he feels old, and he fears what happens if pride’s history is forgotten, you know? and alec listens to him, listens to his version of this story, playing with magnus’ fingers and just enjoying the sound of his voice and the sight. and it’s nice. alec is always super attentive and enjoys hearing him talk and magnus can get lost in his memories unapologetically, you know? and it’s good

but that’s later on, of course, when they’ve already attended plenty together. for alec’s first pride he probably wants it to be like, perfect, so much so that alec has to tell him to slow down again, because of course magnus wants alec to have The Full Pride Experience, but alec would rather soak it up slowly than participate in a lot of stuff, anyway. magnus paints the rainbow flag on his cheek (one of the only occasions alec lets magnus put glitter on him, then promptly complains for the next three months because i swear that stuff is still on my skin, magnus, the other day i found some on my shoes! and magnus laughs at his antics as always and alec is forced to laugh too and can’t even be mad) and they kind of stay more by the end, and alec is kind of smiling in disbelief to himself the whole time as he watches all the colors and the unapologetic way people express their pride, and magnus can’t stop looking at him and grinning, too. and they walk hand in hand and it’s cute

(later, magnus says, see, mundane culture isn’t so bad, is it? and alec looks at him with a way more serious look, full of joy and happiness, and says, no, it isn’t. and kisses him and thanks him for everything, and it’s sweet)

also I'm soft thinking about Magnus reminiscing about planning the first pride along with "his dear friend Brenda" to Alec and/or Raphael, them putting their arms around his shoulder as he tells them the softer stories, too, the good things they did

small bonus: Magnus plays 2 truths and a lie with Simon regarding his memories of past prides, and Simon gets it wrong every time and is all wide eyed by the end, which makes both Magnus and Raphael laugh :)

Relationship Parallels on Supergirl and why Jonn and Mgann were in my opinion the WORST one!

(Long post)

Sooo this is my last post before I take a break from here and Supergirl as I'm just not enjoying it at all anymore. The plot makes no sense, the characters aren't themsleves, guest stars get more of a story arc than the main characters, Lena suddenly trusts Lex after all we have ever seen her do is talk about how manipulative her family is and we even saw her reading about his manipulation of her last season! Kara is still getting to hold all the cards and information and instead of oh I don't know SHARING that info with Lena SHE decides to just wash her hands of her and sit this one out? The 'heroes' can still do anything they want, even join Lex without any repercussions because erm... reasons I guess? But Lena still has to prove herself CONSTANTLY. Oh and finally Kara and William? It's following the exact same trope as the Mon El and Kara story did, but at least they had a connection 😤.

But anyway, I've seen mentions that one of the only 'healthy' straight relationships on the show was Jonn and Mgann......erm......am I the only one who remembers how that went down? Am I the only one who doesn't think that Jonn can be excused of all the HORRIBLE things he's done because he's been called "papa bear" and "space dad"? Don't remember what I'm referring to? Let me elaborate.

First off I'm not Jonns biggest fan due to his murderous tendencies when he sees a white Martian, his blantent MURDER of an unarmed and deeply troubled Manchester Black who in no way deserved to die and Jonn had no right to kill. Oh and his relaxed use of Kryptonite on Kara. You know, all those things people like to put Lena down for, but forget that Jonn did them all to.

But his relationship with Mgann was not the epic romance you all seem to falsely remember it was. This was Romeo and Juliet where Romeo BEAT Juliet almost to death!!

Mgann was quietly working at the Alien dive bar when Maggie brought Alex there and suddenly the place wasn't quite the safe haven it had been. Maggie brought a DEO agent who's job it was in season one to simply hunt and lock up aliens to their safe spot?? Alex then of course told Jonn who decided to make his presence known there! The director of the Alien hunting, no trial, we just lock you up forever DEO went to the Alien safe space!

Mgann who had been quietly and peacefully living her life (and helped Alex out with info) recognised Jonn as a green Martian. Instead of staying in her safe spot she decided to avoid any confrontation and move on, probably because she was scared of what would happen. Jonn chases after her and confronts her where she feels like she has to pretend to be a green Martian. Who wouldn't?

Jonn pesters her over making the Martian Bond to preseve their history, and she says no because obviously she can't. But he keeps on about it to her. (Not unlike a certain William being told to back off but still persistent 🤔).

Now remember that Mgann told Jonn a version of the story of how she got away from the Martian Camps. She said she was released/saved by a kind white martian refused to kill. The only untrue part was she WAS the white Martian.

Jonn finds out she's fighting in Roulettes alien fights and gets mad at her. She's doing it to punish herself. They are forced to fight, he won't hurt her, later she turns on Roulette, he tells her not to punish herself for survivors guilt and nawwww we have the beginning of what COULD have been a lovely romance since they decided to change these characters from Uncle and Niece.

But.... then we get this!

Jonn is dying! He needs a blood transfusion. Alex goes to the only other "Green Martian" for help! But Mgann says no, because she knows her blood will poison Jonn and turn him into a White Martian, something he would see as a fate worse that death. But Alex pressures Mgann into it, and she doesn't want him to die. So she saves his life. She's even there when he wakes up and she has made a special Martain drink for him. He is grateful and asks her to stay until he falls back to sleep.

Later we have Jonn turning into a white martian and he clicks why! He goes to the Alien bar, Mganns safe place to find her once again trying to leave to avoid fighting him and being discovered. Why? Because she KNOWS no matter what she will be punished for the crime of simply BEING a white martian.

Jonn, in all his papa bear and space dad wisdom believes she's out to get him and asks about more coming to attack him. Yes Jonn, because it's always all about you. It's not like YOU went to Mganns safe place, it's not like YOU pursued her. It's not like YOU banged on about the Martian Bond she quite frankly didn't want to do. It's not like YOU got to know her. It's not like YOU have now chased after her TWICE when she has wanted to peacefully leave.

No, Jonn calls her a liar and makes it ALL about him and decides the best course of action towards the woman who has just saved his life and he knows on a personal level and who has explained to him that SHE was the White Martian who couldn't kill Green ones, is to...wait for it.... BEAT HER TO DEATH!!!

Yes folk, that's the part everyone who says this was a beautiful and healthy relationship forget about.

Jonn is about to kill Mgann when she shifts into her human form and begs him to kill her like that because she doesn't want to die a white martian because her very existence disgusts her.

Jonn, oh that wise and loving papa bear who can do no wrong decides on a whim not to kill her! Hurrah for space dad! No, he decides to simply LOCK HER UP IN THE DEO FOREVER!!! No trial, no actual crime was committed but she is a white martian and grumpy space dad doesn't like them and they all deserve death, even the one that was his friend and everyone elses friend and just saved his ungrateful ass from death!! He even knows her back story, he knows she hates the fact she's a White Martian, but because Jonn is the judge, jury and executioner of the DEO this is all erm... ok??

Later we have Mgann under a psychic attack and she falls unconcious. At first Jonn thinks it's a ploy, because erm... reasons again? But no, she is going to die! Alex pleads with Jonn to help Mgann, you know, the woman who only recently saved him from death? But he doesn't care, she can die and that is that. It actually takes persuading from Alex and a guilt trip for him to see Mgann as worth saving. Bare in mind, she hasn't actually commited any kind of crime. Jonn is illegally holding her in a cell forever because he has a grudge against her species.

Jonn eventually makes the bond with her, he sees her trauma and what she went through on Mars and suddenly they have a connection and erm... all is well?? Are you f**king kidding me?!!

Then we have her husband arrive, and all that jazz and then Mgann leaves to go to Mars. We see them meet up again and oh it's sweet. It's so nice that the writers want you to forget the horrific things that Jonn did to her and guess what? You did! You forgot!

Let's compare this with a few other ships and relationships on the show.

Karamel had its major problems, Kara addressed them and heck even Chris Wood did. It's very similar.

Kara had prejudice against Daxamites. She only sees Mon El as a threat when she realises he isn't Kryptonian, before that it's all concern.

Jonn has a prejudice against White Martians, before he realises what Mgann is its all friendship and concern.

Kara locks up Mon El and basically tells him has going to stay in that cell. She locks him up because she believes he attacked the President, even though she has absolutely no proof of that. She even mocks his species because erm.... reasons I guess?

Now yes Mon El attacked Kara, but the difference is he wasnt friends with Kara. He hasn't formed a bond with her. Mon El woke up on a foreign planet and panicked. He wanted to get home safely and he went with fight or flight. The only other time these two physically fought is when Mon El had no control over his body. Oh and that time later on when Myrnn did that whole psychic attack thing.

Now Mon El lied about being the Prince, which to me was OK to begin with. He has just met Kara, who hates Daxamites and even outright voiced her disgust of the royal family. He just got her to see him differently and not lock him up so yeah i don't think I'd have told her i was the Prince either.

It's not unlike Mgann not telling Jonn she was a white Martian. She knew what he would think and she decided to go with the safe option to avoid confrontation, imprisonment and being almost beaten to death due to prejudice. Even though this is what eventually happened.

Kara of course finds out Mon El is the Prince, but her reaction is VERY different to Jonn's. Kara is pissed off for all of 5 minutes through dinner with Mon Els parents and then she just doesnt mention it again. She lets it go, she's far more concerned about having to let him go. His status isn't important to her because it's not the major issue at the time. It's only when he returns that she confronts his lies but even then she doesn't focus on the Prince lie. It's all the other douche bag things he did that bother her, not who he was on Daxam.

Now, my issue with Mon El being the Prince was that he should have come clean when be decided to enter into a relationship with Kara. He knew what she thought of the Prince and he decided to withhold that information to suit himself so he could have Kara.

Now if Mgann had entered into a sexual relationship with Jonn and withheld who she was then I would condemn her for this to.

The difference is Mon El actively pursued Kara, withholding crucial info that may change her mind about sleeping with him. Whereas Mgann actively avoided bonding with Jonn out side of friendship.

Kara and Jonn weren't fans of being lied to, or rather having information withheld from them by friends and partners. Information that neither one was originally entitled to know. Kara only gained that entitlement when she started a relationship with Mon El.

Jonn I would argue was never entitled to Mganns identity, it only came up once he realised who she was. But before then it made no difference at all.

Is this sounding familiar to you? Let me elaborate. Kara and Lena!

Lena reacted badly when she found out that Kara was Supergirl because she had been lied to! Yes lied to, Kara lied to Lena. When you pretend to be two separate people with one person you are lying.

Lena wasn't entitled to know who Kara was in the beginning. Just like Kara wasn't entitled to know who Mon El was to begin with. Just like how Jonn wasn't entitled to know who Mgann was.

The entitlement comes when you start to build a relationship with someone.

Kara become entitled to know who Mon El was when she started a relationship with him. She was NOT happy when she found out she had been lied to. Her boyfriend had withheld who he really was from her. She didn't have time to be miffed for long because she had to yeet him into space.

Mgann tried to avoid a friendship with Jonn, not unlike Lena avoiding a friendship with Kara. But both persisted and pushed themselves on them. Had Mgann started to sleep with Jonn he would need to know she she was.

Now the difference is whereas Mgann and Mon El stuck to one Persona, Kara with Lena didn't! Kara chose to be those two people, later she continued to pretend to be two people, even when Lena made it clear she didn't trust Supergirl and basically didn't want Supergirl anywhere near her! Kara actively ignored Lena's right to not want Supergirl in her life, that's when she should have come clean or broken off the friendship. Continuing with this relationship/friendship whilst lying and ignoring the wishes of the other part is simply wrong.

Jonn finds out Mgann is a White Martian- beats her almost to death, locks her up illegally for the crime of being someone he doesn't like and tells her she will rot. He then leaves it until the last minute to bother saving her life and was going to be happy to her die. -- instantly forgiven by Mgann and the fans even though he absolutely doesn't deserve it and it's never spoken of again.

Kara finds out Mon El is actually a Prince she doesn't like. Is mad for all of 5 minutes because she doesn't have time to be mad any longer. After that he's instantly forgiven, his Prince status I don't think is ever mentioned again. He's forgiven by those fans who love him and it is forgotten about.

Lena finds out Kara lied to her. She isn't happy about it, she feels betrayed and doesn't want to to forgive her simply because she said she was sorry. Sorry doesn't erase the lies and the removal of her choice to know she was letting Supergirl into her private life. Or the that she was lied to by everyone else to. This is the ONLY thing ever remembered.

Mon El only really had a relationship with Kara and Winn. What does Winn care that Mon El was a Prince? Winn isn't effected by it. He had no prior opinions of Daxamites, he also isn't sleeping with Mon El who knows his identity would effect that.

The similarities are huge! The writers have been using the same storyline over and over again but the fans don't notice it because they are either "Team Karamel" "Team Supercorp" "Team Space dad can do no worng" or "Team I hate Lena no matter what even when other characters do the EXACT same things ".

The major difference between them is that with Kara WAS actively being the second identity with Lena. Mon El didn't dress up as a Prince and use this persona to interact with Kara or to be a douche to her. Mgann didn't turn into a white Martian and fight or be a douche to Jonn. Mgann did her best to stay away from Jonn and not become to involved with him.

Kara went to Lena as both personas. She was her best friend as Kara but went to her as someone different with a totally different personality. She turned on her and whether deserved or not was awful to the woman who was her best friend and Lena didn't know it as her best friend doing this.

Mon El and Mgann didnt use Kara and Jonns relationships with other people against them like Kara did.

Then when Lena was done with Supergirl Kara didn't respect her and went back to her as Kara. We're supposed to forgive all this because Kara is the "hero" and " didn't want to lost Lena",oh and she cried a bit.

Lena's reaction has been written to be different to the other two, even though the story Line is basically the same premise. What Lena is doing at the moment clearly isn't good, but her not wanting to be around Kara and not forgiving her is actually completely understandable and she doesnt have to forgive her.

Heck if the writing made any sense Mgann should NEVER of forgiven Jonn after the senseless beating almost to death.

Lena for all her faults never intentionally physically hurt Kara. She punched a VR version of her, Jonn beat the real Mgann! But Lena is bad and Jonn is good! Lena didn't fire the canons at Kara that was Hope, Lena even tried to stop her. Lena trapped Kara in the Fortress in a kryptonite forcefield but Kara showed no signs of pain when in it or even when she was released from it. What did Jonn do? Jonn beat Mgann almost to death! I will never stop repeating that! In addition he has deliberately used kryptonite on Kara more than once and stood by while she expressed now much pain she was in so she couldn't stop him murdering a white Martian.

But sure, Jonn is a wonderful person and Lena is the devil!

So in conclusion as this went on way longer than I intended. Mgann and Jonn are NOT in any way, shape or form the most well written or healthiest relationship on Supergirl! I would take James and Lena over Mgann and Jonn! James was an arsehole and a liar and couldn't stand women above him in any way but at least he and Lena didn't beat eachother almost to death!!

I'm beginning to realise more and more why I'm taking a break from this show.

@j-sea Maybe mean wasn’t the right word lol. I’m thinking she’s going to be brutally honest, which can be mean? Like if Varian tries to convince her to do the right thing/plays the moral card, I think she’s gonna throw his past immoral actions in his face.

Rapunzel’s been building Varian up. She’s been helping him move beyond the past, helping the townsfolk forgive him, helping Varian forgive himself. She’s been reminding him that he’s good. So I think Cass is gonna do the opposite. I think she’s only gonna see the bad in him, the ways he’s been dangerous and untrustworthy, and that will hurt him.

After this episode I’m pretty convinced Cass is not gonna be nice to Varian when she gets him.

If Cass is angry at her father for not telling her about Gothel, there is absolutely no reason she wouldn’t hate Varian who quite literally tried to crush her to death. There’s no reason she’d Ever really listen to him or trust him again.

Cass is also a foil to Rapunzel, and Rapunzel has been really compassionate and forgiving with Varian. So I’m expecting Cass to be the opposite, harsh and unforgiving.

Varian might still be able to get through to Cass a little because they can to some degree understand each other, but Cass is gonna be angry and mean. As soon as he starts talking and pushing her, she’s gonna want him to shut up. Especially with the Enchanted Girl there validating her anger and distrust.

Though I’m thinking? Since Varian’s studied the scroll and most likely from that knows the Moonstone can get into people’s heads, maybe he’ll notice Cass is seeing something/someone no one else can, and then our heroes will finally suspect she’s being manipulated.

they’re often dry and snarky with other people, which amuse each other. alone together they usually do stupid deadpan humor. solas seems very serious but really his sense of humor is just niche and very subtle unless you know exactly how to get at it, which matilda does.

listen there’s just not a good combination of matilda/tannen and solas. solen? tanas? TAN ASS? “ma ghilana vhenan” fits them well as a descriptive/poetic phrase.

5. What activities do they enjoy together?

i cannot stress enough that they’re basically inseparable from the attack on haven until the temple of mythal, however long that is. they do everything together. solas is an absolutely horrendous cook but he helps as best he can, they eat all their meals together. they spend hours in bed reading separate books together. they go on walks or rides together. when he’s painting, she’ll sit on the sofa and crochet to keep him company. they explore the fade together literally every night.

6. What is/are their love language(s)?

they have quality time. unique to solas is words of affirmation, unique to matilda is acts of service.

7. Write a ~300 word love scene for them.

how great his responsibilities, how short his time, and how he could not help himself.

it was early, early morning, mist curling off distant fields as the rising grey sun burned it away, in a silent, secluded garden off a little stone manor house, all but drowning in ambling wisteria vines, such that the rough bricks beneath them were hardly visible.

a lack of courage in facing the front door had brought him there. the garden, half in shade and all in bloom, was almost enough, so steeped was it in her. he could almost breathe in the smell of every herb she ever cooked with as it grew here, and know that matilda’s tender hands planted them, and he could love her and go without ever troubling her.

almost enough. he fingered one of the petals as if he'd never touched a flower before.

he had been content to receive occasional news of her, content to linger, mostly unnoticed, in her dreams. content to shoulder the burden of longing heartache and imagine that it granted her freedom.

as his hand dropped from the flower, as though he had summoned her with the motion, the white-painted door that led into the house from the garden opened. were this the fade, this was the moment he would have vanished. but it was not. he was stuck, stiff, in this solid, sluggish earth, bare feet sinking into the soil. he could not flee, and so he gaped.

matilda was half-way to putting up her hair, red waves gathered but not secure, and she was every bit as beautiful as he remembered. more beautiful than he remembered: how could simple, fallible memory ever do her jusice?

she froze, too, and gaped, one foot on the neat clay tiles just inside the threshold and one on the rain-wet dirt, and she searched his face with a sequence of silent whats and whys and hows that came in shadows across her face. and then her face crumpled, and he only had time to see her eyes water before she threw her arms around his shoulders, and buried her face in the crook of his neck, and they were pulled by their collective weakness to their knees in the dirt.

8. What were their first impressions of each other?

ok so. matilda is waylayed on her way to the conclave with her retinue, she and a handful of other mages get cornered in a keep in the hinterlands and lysas asks the inquisition to go find her bc fiona might listen to her. that’s the setup.

anyway solas already knows who she is before they officially meet and he respects her marginally as an influential player in the mage rebellion. he also immediately respects her magical ability because when they fight their way through the templars to reach her, she springs a trap on them and could definitely have killed them if she wanted to.

matilda doesnt kill them mostly because of solas. he’s the mage in the party and she’s willing to believe him if he says they’re not with the templars. so she immediately trusts him more than she’d trust most people.

9. Have they made each other cry?

OH BOY HAVE THEY.

she cries during crestwood like straight up in front of him. he waits to cry until later. uhhh they’re both prone to bouts of Angst about one another between the breakup and trespasser, which sometimes end in crying. matilda cries during trespasser mostly because she’s afraid of him, and that just tears him up inside. listen they cry a Lot that’s what solavellan is FOR

im so sorry i literally cant write arguments i’m not argumentative enough to relate

not a lot? they both have very few things that they care strongly enough about to fight about, especially solas, and the things they DO feel strongly about, they agree on.

a little. obviously matilda is more attached to this world and more eager to identify herself with it. but like lmao in general “stop enslaving/imprisoning people, stop treating people like second class citizens” they agree on. the underlying philosophy of the inherent freedom owed to all sentient beings, they agree on.

though theres the big difference where he wants to end the world and she doesn’t but, yknow.

13. Name something they would never do for the other person.

there’s not a lot, man. i mean, with sufficient reason they’d do literally anything for each other, except i think kill one another, which, in case da4 doesnt happen or is bad, matilda fucking GAMBLES on during the Final Confrontation.

like i’d say matilda wouldn’t kill for him, but she would, if he persuaded her it needed to happen for some necessary reason. yknow? this is a cop out answer.

matilda wouldn’t kill an innocent for him. solas... listen i don’t know what he wouldn’t do.

14. What would be a dealbreaker?

again, no dice. home boy straight up came out and said he’s a godlike being hellbent on ending the world and she’s still like heart eyes at him. i don’t know that there’s anything matilda would do that would make solas stop loving her. like there are things she could do, but nothing realistic. she’s not gonna start torturing and enslaving people.

15. What are traits they dislike in one another?

now this is a good question.

solas is too secretive. he refuses to take moral stances on things and will turn around and lecture her about seeing things in black and white when she does. he’s too often unsympathetic, unemotional. and he’s hypocritical.

matilda is modest to an at-times modest degree. he always expected that -- that she would insist on playing second fiddle to everyone in her life. she lets anger cloud her judgement on too many things, damn the consequences.

16. If they broke up, what would be their opinions of each other?

for the purposes of this question, since they’re still in love and want to be together, i’m not considering them really broken up. mutual “this isn’t working, we should end this” though -- they’d probably still be friends, honestly. they’re in love because they respect and trust one another and just because they decide to break things off doesn’t mean they stop clicking.

although, given the other real life dudes like solas i know, he’d probably be the kind of guy to cut all contact with exes. matilda definitely tries to be friends with her exes.

"I'll destroy her...and you...and all of it" (Kylo Ren, from "Star Wars, Episode VIII, The Last Jedi" movie) I read much worry ‘cause at end of movie and book "Star Wars. Episode VIII. The last Jedi ", Kylo Ren has decided and declared he wants to destroy Rey... who could read Episode VIII script said, at movie’s end, Rey and Kylo are described as" enemies with complications". In book, after explosion caused by their struggle for possession of Anakin’s old lightsaber, Kylo wakes up surprised to be alive. He discovers Rey has awakened before him and he understands she hasn’t killed him and... he blames her. Kylo thinks Rey was wrong and decision didn’t kill him would have destroyed her. He would have destroyed Rey. This is perfectly in line with Kylo’s character. Unlike Anakin who fell into Dark Side for FEAR OF LOSING LOVE, his wife Padmé, Kylo REFUSES any kind of feeling. Commenting on Finn’s escape, a former First Order soldier who, at the beginning of "Star Wars. Episode VII. The Force Awakens" movie, Kylo observes:

“How capable are your soldiers, General?”

“I won't have you question my methods”

“They're obviously skilled at committing high treason. Perhaps Leader Snoke should consider using a clone army”

Joke about Clones isn’t just a reference to Star Wars prequels. In Star Wars. Episode II, it’s explained clones are PROGRAMMED to war, to take orders, without disobeying or posing moral dilemmas. In this perspective, we also understand some parts of this dialogue between Kylo and Rey, in "Star Wars, Episode VIII, The Last Jedi" movie:

“Why did you hate your father? Do you have something? A cowl, or something you could put on? Why did you hate your father? Give me an honest answer. You had a father who loved you; he gave a damn about you!”

“I didn't hate him”

[...]

“No? Your parents threw you away like garbage”

“They didn't”

“They did, but you can't stop needing them. It's your greatest weakness. Looking for them everywhere, in Han Solo, and now in Skywalker [...]”

Kylo was TEACHING Rey to have less possible feelings ‘cause, for Kylo, HAVE FEELINGS means having WEAK POINTS. ‘Cause this, Kylo becomes enraged when he realizes Rey might feel something for him: ‘cause it means he hasn’t taught anything to her, ‘cause HE has become Rey's WEAK POINT, 'cause he’s in DANGER, since he could REPLACE Rey and this would be an OBSTACLE to accomplish what he proposes ... to explain all this and to reassure those who believe Ben Solo/Kylo Ren CAN’T REDEEM HIMSELF, ‘cause he killed his father Han, he chose Dark Side in full awareness, etc... I decided to propose parallels between Reylo and old robotic cartoon "Baldios". Comprised of 34 episodes, Baldios was produced in 1980 by Ashi Production. Unfortunately, cartoon was too modern for that time and, due to poor audience, it was interrupted abruptly, leaving without end Earth’s story and LOVE STORY between MARIN, male protagonist and APHRODIA, Marin’s BIG ENEMY. Fortunately, in 1981, Toei Animation produced "Baldios. The Movie" animated movie, which represents story’s end:

Story is this: getting too close to sun, contaminated by radiation, Saul 1 planet (S1) is dying. Sea and vegetation have disappeared. The air is unbreathable and population is forced to live underground, but even this solution begins to no longer work, due to lack of resources. S1 EMPEROR is called to make a decision, mediating between two groups in struggle: scientists, led by Professor Reigan who found a solution, able to make living S1 again, but they need time to study it and implement it. Military, led by Theo Gattler, commander of Aldebaran’s army, S1 militias, wish instead to take away S1 population and colonize a second habitable planet, Earth. Battle also ends with Marin Reigan, a pilot, Reigan’son who, in front of room hosting the meeting, clashes with soldier Miran and two of his friends. To sedate spirits, arrived Aphrodia, Miran's elder sister and head of Gattler's guards, as well as his beloved. Plan’s first part is fine: Aphrodia kills Emperor, dropping Marin badge on floor, while Gattler declares himself Dictator, electing Aphrodia as ARMY’S SUPREME COMMANDER. Miran goes to scientists' lab and, showing Marin's card, he informs Professor Reigan his son is accused of murdering Emperor. Knowing Marin is innocent, Reigan reacts to defend him. Miran prepares to shoot, but Marin arrives to save his father. Miran tries to kill man again, but Marin throws a piece of iron into his neck, killing him. Aphrodia arrives, to whom dead brother’s sight breaks her heart. Learning Marin was who killed her brother, Aphrodia swears she will never forgive him and she will take her revenge. Marin answers he will never forgive her. Marin and his father try to escape, but man is killed by military. Marin takes his spaceship and tries to stop Gattler's mother ship from leaving S1, but Aphrodia arrives trying to kill him. In battle, Marin's ship is sucked into a vortex temporal space. Marin crashes on Moon where he’s picked up by the Blue Fixers, a special team at United Nations terrestrial service, which take him to their base on Earth. At beginning, Marin was met with suspicion and treated as a prisoner, interrogated and incarcerated. Only beautiful Jamie Oshino and Professor Era Quinstein, base scientist, seem to believe him. Upon forces of Gattler and Aphrodia’s arrival, who have decided to conquer and colonize Earth, everything changes. Marin’s knowledge and his skills in battle make him win trust of Blue Fixers and Jonathan Bannister, base’s head. Marin accepts to stand on Terrans side against Aldebaran. Meanwhile, despite battles and hatred, Aphrodia begins to feels something for Marin, but... In a flashback we learn as children, Aphrodia and Miran lost their parents in a tragic car accident. Gattler has come to their rescue. He has adopted and educated them. A Baldios. The Movie’s scene suggests, having become ADULT, Aphrodia was ABUSED by Gattler, although this is NEVER explicitly said:

Marin and Aphrodia flee from Gattler. Arrived on Earth, exhausted, they faint on a lighthouse’s floor. Aphrodia recovers first and she tries to KILL Marin, still unconscious, but she can’t do it:

In "Star Wars. Episode VIII. The Last Jedi" movie, Rey and Ben Solo/Kylo Ren fight over Anakin's lightsaber possession. Fight causes explosion of spaceship on which they are and throws Rey and Ben Solo/Kylo Ren to opposite sides of Throne Room. They falled unconscious. Rey recovers first and flees, LEAVING IN LIFE Kylo Ren:

Awakening, Marin leads Aphrodia to base, where she’s imprisoned and brutally interrogated. Marin disagrees, but his friends remind him how many terrestrials Aphrodia deliberately killed, including their families. In end, Marin blocks interrogation, bringing Aphrodia to doctor who, reluctantly, cares her:

In "Star Wars. Episode VIII. The Last Jedi" movie, Kylo Ren brings Rey in Snoke’s presence, who interrogates her in a brutal way:

In "Baldios. The Movie ", Gattler incites Aphrodia to KILL Marin: "Come on, Aphrodia, it's your time! You take your revenge for your brother! Isn’t it true you fought until now for this moment? " (Gattiger to Aphrodia, Baldios the film)

But Aphrodia kills Gattler himself:

theres not a whole lot to the cop to develop, i guess. she’s a cop. she has a wife and probably a kid. which of them had the kid? dude. idk. shes like..... 30? so shes the oldest person there, yea, but thats not meaning a lot when its just a bunch of 25 year old criminals. seniority in age isnt exactly the issue here.

at my best guess, part of what inspired her to be a cop would stem from her being an elf. while the north are rather friendly towards elves, particularly in comparison to the south, its impossible for there no hostility, no stereotyping. as an elf who only speaks basic elven, she’s got a disconnect between her culture and that of her environment. as an elf, she’s a poor one. as an elf, she’s isolated in a predominantly human city. its a sort of lose lose.

so you get treated like shit a lot. and you grow to idolise those who have power. in part, that explains her loyalty to the royals, despite the kings utter fucking incompetence. she’s not blindly loyal, which is why she usually talks to Crown if she must talk to one of them, but she’s got that streak. and the guard, obviously, and all the associated groups. it makes sense to want to be in that untouchable position, where noone can hurt you, when you’re being hurt.

so she becomes a cop, because royalty isnt gonna happen. it takes time. it takes years. she falls in love with and marries in the time between starting training and being formally inducted into the guard. she feels absolutely unstoppable now. that she’s going to protect those who are wronged.

then, yknow... the law? and the letter of it? oof, baby, honey, no. she comes to see how those in power can abuse it, with her rose tinted glasses removed. she sees how its the letter and not the spirit that is enforced. how those that are hurt can be kept hurt. and it fucks her up. and theres the fact that now she’s a cop, and actively trying to curb the power of the major criminal players, that they have their eyes on her. that there is likely an incident where her wife could have died. maybe their first child even dies, i dont know. and it sucks! it absolutely sucks! that she has to both arrest people who she knows are good, and good people, and that she has to watch those she loves most be hurt because of her choice of profession. it sucks!!!! she and her wife have to live separately, and it sucks!!! she likely has to arrest someone she knows after they get attacked and fight back, and it sucks!!!

she’s probably a little disillusioned with the whole thing. the guard aren’t untouchable, aren’t infallible, and are often wrong. it sucks

the criminals fighting crime initiative wasn’t her idea. it was Crown’s idea. but the cop is a champion for it. she firmly believes that it could be a way to save some of the people who were imprisoned unjustly, but who the law couldnt save. she volunteers - volunteers - to be in charge of the first batch. but she’s not in charge of the full op, is she? so of course its someone above her picking the participants.

she’s a little miffed about the selection. Koci she’s glad is getting a chance to reduce her sentence, since Koci is one of the cases the cop has been fighting hardest for. since, well... its not exactly subtle the signs that koci was badly injured before joining the pact. its obvious that she was almost killed (or actually killed, they dont knw) before she lashed out and killed hundreds. she was possessed, it wasnt her. but she did the crime. she does the time. and the cop hates it.

Rien is a mixed bag. the cop has met them before, and they seemed a good person. they were suspicious off the bat for being a westerner, and due to the existing migrated western gang, but they were nice, and Amali trusted them, so they seemed good. they were well liked among the farmers and the market. but then, yknow, they come in confessing to being a bandit who had robbed dozens and carted goods illegally across the southern border and who had also gotten Amali killed in a bandit attack. ok. we’ve got issues. are they a good person, or a bad person? do they deserve a chance to redeem themself? the cop sort of manages by justifying it as Rien proving that they aren’t a liar, and that they meant what they said. which would prove them as a mostly - mostly - good person, in the end, right????? sure.

Warzens a flat ‘fuck no’ from the cop. Warzen is an unapologetic necromancer. unapologetic. unabashed. mans a proud fucking necromancer. he’s weird. he’s an asshole, he’s a criminal with no remorse. the only thing tha seems to go in his favour, aside from his skillset being potentially useful in the field, is that he seemed genuinely distressed when they destroyed his workshop home when hey arrested him. like... that was some from the soul pain. not the pain of someone mildly inconvenienced. he lost something in that fire, and it... it tugs at the strings, a little. a little. he’s still kind of an asshole, and the cop is POSITIVE he doesnt fuckin deserve the chance. but fine. fuck it. he’ll be under lock and key the entire fucking time, planar magically speaking. it should be fine.

Saval is...... a very mixed bag. they have the same issue as Warzen - an unabashed and unashamed criminal. A shit one, sure, considering she knocked herself out trying to rob a place, but a criminal nevertheless. she regrets none of it, beyond the consequences it held. That would place her in the Warzen camp. But. But but but. her information has resulted in the arrests of dozens of criminals. her in conjunction with a few of them captured have basically destroyed most of the western gang. she has been valuable. so her position on the crim gang is basically a sort of thanks, since the law provides no other way to reduce her sentence, really. but that doesn’t mean the cop likes it. does saval genuinely deserve the chance to get out of jail earlier, considering she’ll likely go right back to crime when she’s free? the cop doesn’t know. how far can kindness extend?

but the cop championed the initiative. she has to stick by it, regardless of her distaste for the group that was picked. on the inside, she knows its a form of sabotage. she knows that there are higher ups who dont want the initiative to work and are going to scapegoat the fuck out of her when it fails due to their shit selection of people. but she’s gonna fight tooth and nail to make it successful, god fucking dammit.

she’s basically trying her damn hardest to keep the entire group from falling apart. its the only reason she breaks up arguments - not because she really, personally cares too much, but because the less fighting, the better. like when koci starts angrily ranting at Rien for no other reason than that Rien seems like an easy target, the cop doesn’t.... personally care? but knows that breaking it up early is better than potentially making Rien angry, and having Rien sabotage the whole thing. especially since Rien seems to be on board with the whole thing.

its a bit higher stakes when it comes to warzen and saval due to their uhhhh unreliability, we’ll say. HARD fuck no. the less those two get pissed off, the better. its a cfucking relief to the cop when warzen/rien and saval/koci become friends. because now theres a sort of ‘back up’. theres a fall back. they can be caught before exiting. the concern is that warzen might drag rien outwards rather than rien dragging him inwards, buuuut she’ll cross that bridge when it comes up.

tl;dr the cop wanted to be untouchable and protect people, kind of got neither by becoming a cop and essentially the king’s fucking lackey, and is reaaaaalllllllyyy fucking hoping that this criminals-fighting-crime thing works out and she is completely fucked. both in terms of having a job (and potentially being alive, depending on outcome) and in terms of like. mentality. :)
