okay so i was scrolling and i came across this post and it helped me reorganize a lot of thoughts ive been thinking sense i first started mha. ive always been not a fan of izuku getting ofa in the first place as it felt to me as it almost completely erased any meaning of his backstory. it felt like such a plot armor/mary sue moment but in the end i got over it, assuming that most likely he would loose it at one point (i was right but we'll get to that later).

after he enters UA its almost as if his entire past is just like- not important?? i have plenty of hcs about his suppressed trauma and if you read into a lot of the situations he goes thru in the manga i can see it but is not blatantly said/expressed that he struggles with a complex from how he was treated as a child.

in the end mha becomes a manga mostly focused on some sort of version of not judging a person by their cover. The fact that a technically "villainous" quirk does not make someone a bad person.

now ofc this is totally true. no one should be overlooked or declined rights or decency because of the quirk they have. this lesson is a valid one.

the analogy i have made up in my head is this.

people who are born with "hero-like" or "useful" quirks, for example: bakugou, todoroki, hawks etc are beautiful people

(for the context of this metaphor ignore the fact that beauty is complex and is in the eye of the beholder just roll with me)

and then you have the people with "useless" or average quirks that are just average people

and then you have people like toga or shinsou with quirks that are seen as inherently dangerous. quirks that are unable to be used for good. those are the ugly people.

now obviously we shouldnt discriminate people just because society says they are ugly. there is no doubt in that and it is a tragedy that it happened and still happens.

however

20% of the population cannot even fall onto this scale. the quirkless. aka the disabled. they are not even seen as being worth a label on the scale because they are so disgusting and strange that no one wants to remember yhey exist.

i wouldnt be as upset by the lack of talk about quirkless people if izuku wasnt quirkless, if the first arc of mha wasnt izuku struggling with the fact that no one in the world cares about him but his mom and that not even her believes he can achieve anything because of his disability.

the whole set up was izuku wanted to be a hero DESPITE his disability. even though truly he thought it was impossible. he didnt work out, he didnt try and do anything to become a hero because he believed everyone was right. that what society had been telling him his whole life was true and he couldnt be a hero. but he wanted to despite that. that was the hook of mha. at least for me.

a bullied lonely boy with a disability achieves his dream despite society. despite being told at every turn that he couldnt do it. he said he can and he does.

but thats not what happened at all.

instead some pillar of all that is heroic drops down from the sky and magically cures his disability. and suddenly hes just a normal kid.

and suddenly we forget all about midoriya izuku and how hard it is to be quirkless. how much quirkless people struggle. how many of them must commit suicide because of yhe seeming completely normalized harassment of them in everyday life.

and i dont want to blame izuku for this because in the end hes a kid with trauma who just wants to fit in. its frankly quite obvious that he whole heartedly agrees with bakugou and everyone else from his past that yeah quirkless people are useless.

the way he treated Melissa in the movie broke my heart. he belittled her like it was second nature and while he obviously had no malicious feelings toward her because of her quirklessness he sees her as a second class citizen. hes surprised that she is able to achieve things despite her disability. that she manages to be happy in a world where she isnt "normal".

and again in the long run i dont truly blame izuku for feeling this way. like everyone he is a product of his environment.

again, however:

but your manga isnt about that. your manga is about someone whose seen as even less than that. you can address both issues.

having bakugou break down about izuku becoming quirkless was good but that was pretty much all we got.

and what happenes when izuku looses ofa?? he gives up on being a hero.

everyone in japan knows this boys name. he is considered a top hero. and he just drops off the face the hero scene?

hatsume exists??? izukus face has been in her boobs TWICE for gods sake. yaoyorozu can make things out of thin and are they had to wait 8 years.

muu and kotoko timeline breakdown

i love this timeline its one of my favourites i think. and while its very funny theres a lot here. so.

1. "it's not my fault" vs "i think it's kotoko's fault, after all"

muu is trying not to think of herself. she is trying to shift the blame onto other people as much as possible. anything to not have to perceive herself. even for something just as simple as "people not paying attention to her"

2. "did you come all the way here just to tell me something like that?

what? what do you mean "all the way here" kotoko??? how far away is she from the other prisoners at the current moment?? shes still isolated from the other prisoners- even if its just in her cell.

3. "aren't you scared of me? next time, i might turn my fangs on you."

because muu was scared of kotoko at the beginning of milgram- and now muu isnt. what an interesting thing to say on kotokos part. this isnt even a threat. she even sounds like shes trying to warn muu, like shes trying to give muu a reason to be scared of her and avoid her. she doesnt understand why muu isnt scared anymore- because everyone should be scared of her, right? why isnt muu scared of her?

4. "why? you punish bad people, right? you're not bad."

WHAT KIND OF RESPONSE TO KOTOKOS PREVIOUS COMMENT IS THIS? IS SHE TRYING TO IMPLY THAT KOTOKO TURNING HER FANGS ON HER IS PUNISHMENT FOR KOTOKO RATHER THAN HERSELF? WHAT THE FUCK. WHAT THE FUUUUUCK. MUU YOU CANT JUST CASUALLY DROP THAT YOU KNOW HURTING THE OTHER PRISONERS OF MILGRAM IS HURTING KOTOKO TOO/IS "PUNISHING" FOR HERSELF. YOJ CANT JUST FUCKING SAY THAT HOLY SHIT OH MY GOD???? 5. "I mean, haha, you're talking like you're fine, but maybe kotoko-san is the one who shouldnt be forgiven?"

MUU YOURE GOING TO KILL HER. SHES GOING TO DIE. interesting to note that she says "youre talking like youre fine"- muu knows that kotokos in the fucking trenches, doesnt she? shes just fully going for kotokos throat here. this is going to be muu's second murder. the last part of this is also interesting, because it means that muu might not be aware of kotokos verdict- OR she fully knows and is using it against her. its. really hard to tell which makes a later part of this analysis inconvenient.

6. "are you going to bite yourself?"

foreshadowing? a lot of people think kotokos probably going to end up hurting herself between trials somehow- i wonder if this is something meant to point to it

7. "...you're good at provoking people. I hope you're not forgiven. If that happens, i'll completely crush you."

kotoko is dodging every single question muu asked her here. incredible. and also somehow admitting that everything muu has said is close enough to the truth in some amount to bury under her skin. thats devastating. what do you mean EVERYTHING muu just said is true or at least close to it.

secondly, this "threat" sucks. this is dogwater. look at the times shes threatened mikoto or kazui. theres no bite here- also, shes lying. she promised to haruka that she isnt going to hurt muu. and theres the earbud line that she blatantly states shes going to let muu off the hook, just this once.

this timeline marks the first outright lie of kotoko's that we can blatantly disprove! with evidence! the only reason she said she was going to "crush" muu was for muu to leave her alone, to try and make muu scared of her again. also kotokos just pathetic in this entire timeline in general, holy shit. i wonder if its the guilty verdict weighing down on her or if its just because shes too "weak" towards the younger members of milgram like muu

third- does kotoko...not know muu's verdict? what does she mean if muu isnt forgiven? she was easily aware of everyones verdict in trial 1, and she should know muu's t2 verdict based off of her conversation with haruka. is she just feigning ignorance here? why? is she in denial of muu's verdict? concealing muu's verdict for muu's sake?

or- do kotoko and muu really not know each others verdicts? interesting!

As autistic coded as Illumi is, he is also EXTREMELY Bpd coded. Here's a thread abt why that would be, from a person with bpd. 🧵

Everything about his character screams a person that feels so so much but forcefully tones his feelings down so hard to the point where they seem nonexistent.

On the exterior he seems like he couldn't care less about most things and is a very calm and controlled person. However, his emotions shine the brightest when the topic of interest is a person he cares about.

This is ESPECIALLY shown in the election arc where he reveals much of his emotions to the audience. He gets two whole bloodlust scenes this arc.

One with extreme anger

and one with extreme joy.

When Hisoka provoked him, it took absolutely zero transition for him to immediately spike his bloodlust and aura to GREAT amounts to the point of engulfing the entire MOUNTAIN and reaching Killua from SO far away.

And in the same exact second it happened, it ended just as quickly the moment he noticed Killua running away. That is a CLASSIC negative mood swing example if I've ever seen one. One extreme emotion in one second, gone in the other.

On the other hand, his second bloodlust had a small transition, one that still did not give you the expectation of what truly came after.

He is seen watching Killua on his phone and the moment Nanika healed gon, showing Killua can use her on command with no consequences and also showing her immense power, he was absolutely overjoyed. So much in fact that he exploded in maniac laughter and aura a second after merely giving it a small laugh.

We get a hint at his bloodlust incoming in that moment, but NEVER predict just how MUCH would actually come out. Classic euphoric mood swing number two.

When he encountera Killua with Hisoka in the background at the end, he is pretty much shown going through the five stages of grief in mere minutes the moment his own butlers turn on him and allow Nanika to come out.

denial, anger, depression...

bargaining.......

and finally, acceptance. acceptance that he was going to be traded by killua not only for a friend, but for the rest of the family's lives.

He was so very clearly unhappy about it at the beginning, yet came to acceptance in mere seconds the moment nanika came out. He bargained with himself, Killua shouldnt be able to wish twice, then accepted. even if he could, thats okay. go ahead, kill me!

and then theres also the way he just switches from a very :DDD to >:| mood in like one panel short hello he is so coded

Even more; Usually bpd is either caused through trauma or inherited. and you can definitely argue that illumi went through enough "training" for the former but. is his behavior not. familiar to yall. not at all???? im just saying......... genuinely amazing how his whole personality is a defense mechanism.... this guy cares he cares so much but his whole life hes had to push people away lest they Find Out.... living in constant alert ever since he had consciousness of how Different he was and how dangerous that was for him, knowing that everyone around him would cull him on the spot if they found out about It.... if im not mistaken trolls' tears are the color of their blood so he also had to repress himself to Not Cry. and for a person as emotional as karkat thats such a challenge!! not even out of sadness, or grief, but people also cry out of happiness, nostalgia, frustration, anger... those two especially i can see happening to karkat. and hed hate it.

he can be so Mean sometimes, perpetually angry... sure, it might be part of his personality, he is definitely easily irritated and prone to heat-of-the-moment decisions (like when he ran sollux's code and promptly exploded his computer and cast a curse on himself & his friends) but like i said, he's lived his entire life having to be Alert, not being able to let his guard down, because he would die if he did!! and at the same time he needs to prove himself, prove that despite being Wrong and Different he can do things!! he can be useful!!! maybe if he makes himself useful enough someone will even see him as a person and not just a mutant... thats why he is so dead set on being the leader. much like dave he has lived his whole life Needing To Be In Control Of Things (rose too, but shes more like she needs to Understand People, if she can read people correctly then she can avoid them flipping on her (no she cant that is not how it works babe)), but whereas dave is content with letting june be the leader (even if he wants to surpass her, hes very much doing his own thing anyways) karkat NEEDS to be the leader because that way he will prove that hes capable (to his friends in particular but to society as a whole, they are basically a mini representation of society anyways with each of them representing each caste).

but also he blames himself, he blames himself so much whenever anything goes slightly wrong and that feeling just gets amplified since he ran sollux's virus. it's a vicious circle for him since he needs to be in control and call the shots to feel like hes useful (defense mechanism, you wouldn't get rid of an useful pest even if he was a pest now would you?), but whenever something goes wrong under his command he freaks out (maybe relating it to his blood color? like he is Bad so this happened. also we know he takes sollux's virus's curse very seriously), he takes it as proof that He Personally Is Wrong and obviously everyone knows this, but since he doesnt want to be seen as that and he wants society to accept him without ever realizing there was a reason they shouldnt (see: also why he wanted to join the military or some part of it at the very least) he doubles on his efforts on Controlling everything.

and when he realizes they created our universe, it finally gives him a chance to be above someone. to be the powerful and not the powerless, the respected and not the shunned. its why he treats the beta kids as stupid, inferior beings, and why he constantly points out that he is their god even though he isnt (well he technically is but you get it). it mimicks the way some highbloods treat lowbloods, but where the highbloods are like that because society told them it's their natural right that they were born with, karkat does it to forget what that same society told him: that he was somehow intrinsically worse than anyone else. so bad, in fact, that he'd be better of dead. actually, he'd be so better off dead that they want him dead, that they will kill him as soon as they find him. so of course he takes the chance to not feel like that! of course he wants to feel superior! he needs to be the one above for once, he needs that control over someone instead of feeling like he needs to watch out for everything and anything. he sees a chance to not be the lowest link in the chain, and he takes it. sure, he may be a mutant, but theyre human... and not just any humans. the very same humans that doomed their session, the session karkat threw himself into because not only did it grant him escape from a planet that hated his existence (as much as he also idealized, trying to fit in, trying to not be seen as Abnormal even though all the beta trolls are Abnormal & don't fit in), it also gave him the chance to, like i said, prove himself.

he trusts his friends, he does, and he said he'd tell them his blood color eventually. but he needed to be ready and that's why both jack noir & terezi, or at least their reactions, are so important to him. neither of them shuns him, they don't attack him, they don't make fun of him of call him aberrant or do anything that most trolls would. fair, jack noir isn't a troll, and he doesn't even understand why karkat is freaking out. but when he shows him his own blood, the same color, karkat is suddenly not alone. even if red blood doesn't mean anything special to jack, to karkat it means the world to see that he is not some abomination, that the universe didn't signal him out to be different than the rest forever and always. and terezi, terezi is what really does it for him. shes somewhat high in the hemospectrum, she is someone that karkat likes (and apparently kissed! good for him because God knows the kid didn't let anyone in out of fear of being found out), she is a troll. and she doesn't mind. she even calls him adorable in the same log! the beta trolls are outcasts of the alternian society; and they are karkat's friends. that's why he was willing to tell them eventually: it was his secret to keep and his secret to share. and even if terezi found out when he wasn't ready yet, her reaction was absolutely positive. again, these kids are the furthest away from troll society as they can be, almost its opposite, which is why karkat thought about telling them, is willing to tell them. he knows hes safe with them.

ive seen people point out how his handle (carcinoGeneticist) references his sign (carcinogenesis is the process by which an organism gains cancer) and both these things represent how hes considered an anomaly & something to be rid of, something sick; i also think it's. ironic that he's the knight of blood, but i don't know enough about classpects yet to analyze that. it must have felt like a cruel joke to him, though, being told that his literal title was someone who fights for the same thing he's ostracized for. it would certainly piss me off that's for sure.

HEAR ME OUT, jealous ass academy childe... like, youre just this shy 11th grader (senior? idk im european) that childes EXTREMELY infatuated with, but you seem to take more of a liking towards kaeya, constantly following him around like a lost pup.

childe being....childe, hes insanely jealous of this. why that adopted blue haired bastard instead of him? that fuckers just manipulating you, and you dont know any better. youre just a poor little thing, and youre falling so hard for a person like kaeya. but fret not, childe is here to help you! you guys hang out a lot after school, he calls them cute little dates, and he always spoils you during them. hell, when you two were out trying on some clothes, you two pick some matching ones in good fun, the store lady tells you two how cute of a couple you two are! but instead of saying a thank you, you just quickly spew out some bullshit of you two just being best friends. he smiles and nods, but deep inside he wants to scowl at that. his entire mood is sour after that.

he was just starting to forget your thing with kaeya, and you just calling him ur best friend made him remember that all over again. now, in his mind, you two are already dating. you two are sweethearts, but it just happens that you really like to be around kaeya. truth is, you two have never dated, and probably never will.

its friday, and you two decide to have a sleep over, hurray! afterschool, you get in his suspiciously expensive car and go to his house for a quick stop to get some clothes for the night or two that hes there. you stay in the car, ironically texting kaeya, until childe comes back with a backpack that obviously has clothes in it. you see tehcer, childes cute little brother in the front door, and you wave at him. he waves back excitedly. you were so cute, to the point that childe wonders how good of a parent youll be when you two get married and have kids in the future.

you get to your house, noticeably smaller and more pathetic than his, but still a very cozy place. your parents werent home, so your nana was taking care of you. you twist the keys into the door and walk into the house. you two have a lot of fun after, your nana checking up once in a while to make sure you two arent doing ... the devils tango. but fortunately shes a fun nana, she gave you two some of her favorite wine to try! childe seems used to the wine, even thinks its a little bit of a cheap one but you drink it as if its some luxury.

its now 3 AM and you finally decide to go to sleep after many hours of just hanging out with childe. you get a matress ready so you could sleep on the floor, but childe quickly stops you and tells you to sleep in the bed with him. you get flustered, but ultimately agree as hes your best friend and it shouldnt be considered weird to do a thing like this. you dont know it, but childes reeling as soon as you get all bundled up in your bed. he hopes that the cliche trope of waking up and cuddling with said best friend happens!

he cant sleep at all, but you fall asleep in a matter of minutes. 5 minutes, he counted. ajax smiles at your sleeping figure, your breathing intoxicating for him. the soft moonlight that shines through your window illuminates your face, and you look like a whole diety. and thats what you are for him, youre his whole world, his everything. he'd lick the ground you walk on if you asked him to.

but childe yet again turns sour remembering that smurf headed ass you loved sooooo much. he wants to kill that son of a bitch, maybe gut him and hang him , much like the victims he saw in scream. his world turns red when he thinks of that bastard, but then he looks at your angelic face again. he calms down, and this time grins in a sinister way as he reassures himself that, he could just... get you to hate kaeya, or get kaeya to hate you. sure, its a little bit of a bad thing to do, but he doesnt care since he want you to love him and not kaeya fucking alberich. he wants you wrapped around his finger and completely dependent of him for any human interaction. maybe he could do a much drastic thing and kidnap you instead?

yes, he could try that if you dont fall out of love with kaeya. he caresses your cheek and pulls you close to him. he still wants that cliche trope to happen, afterall!

honestly after rereading arc 2 ive realized that ive come to like the idea of qinter than the actual canon version of it.

like at the end of the day ive been a qinter fan since i was in third grade so of course im going to be biased towards it and itll always hold a special place in my heart but i must say that a lot of their canon interactions were just qibli making jabs at winter to a point where it sort of seemed like he didn't like it anymore?? if that makes sense?? dont get me wrong i love the sunshine x grumpy dynamic but with them idk.

i cant lie i feel like the entire jade winglet completely cut winter off and they were always against him even though literally he was completely justified in pretty much everything he did?? like im sorry but him going to save hailstorm (HIS BROTHER THAT HE THOUGHT WAS DEAD FOR YEARS) rather than going to look for the ancient nightwing who has killed hundreds of his tribe was perfectly reasonable. the vase scene was completely reasonable (could you imagine YOUR best friends defending the man who put you under a spell and wanted to commit genocide on your people and wipe them out entirely?? id be pissed as hell). to an extent, winter being suspicious about moon and the cave explosion was reasonable (i do agree that he came off as very aggressive in that, but at the same time you have to see things from his point of view. how WOULD she have known about the bomb?? not to mention how hes been conditioned and indoctrinated to distrust nightwings).

i feel like qibli especially comes at winter for these things and tells him that hes wrong for it and that hes being toxic even though hes LITERALLY NOT. and the whole thing with him saying that if he had animus magic that he would change winter's personality always rubbed me the wrong way. i feel like toxic is too strong of a word but i dont think that theyd be necessarily healthy together, not until theyve matured a little more and have found better ways to cope with their past traumas instead of repressing it and putting on this charming guy who makes jabs at people persona or taking it out on other people through anger and frustration.

in all honesty i feel like tui shouldve gone with moon not making a choice in the qibli/winter/moon love triangle to sort of show that you dont need to be with someone to be happy and that its okay to stay as just friends– icl, thats how i thought that it was going to end when i first read arc 2. i feel as though moonbli was a little rushed, and i do like the idea of winterwatcher (just like i do with qinter) but i dont think that he's emotionally ready for a relationship. also this is unrelated but when initially reading book 6 i thought that moon was going to end up with turtle; ive always thought that theyd be cute together lol.

im thinking about it now and i really like the idea of turtle and winter but i cant for the life of me remember if theyve ever had any one on one interactions. if theres anything please can someone send in reblogs ..

i think it would take him a minute to realize that theres something wrong, or he will notice immediately i think it depends on how long you guys have known one another. but for the sake of story telling lets say its the first time hes seen you freeze up. i like to think that sometimes caine spectates IHAs to make things are running smoothly... or as smoothly as they can... thats when he notices youve kind of just... standing there off to the side. takes you off the the side. at a loss for what to do, and he might actually think that theres something wrong with you; like digitally or coding wise that theres something wrong. not like, mentally and physically. very bad at comfort the first time because he doesnt know whats going on, but if you explain to him hes going to do his best to help. takes you away when he notices somethings off, sometimes even pauses or cancels the IHA if he has to, takes you to your room or his own room (does he have a room?) so you have a space thats familiar and calm. caine, as a partner is wrapped around your finger and will follow every command you give him, and this is especially true for moments of distress. so really it depends on what you personally need for comfort!

honestly pomni seems to freeze up as well in moments of stress, but she seems to snap out of it after a moment; at least going off of what we have seen in the pilot! so i think she would be able to relate to you when you have your moments. with that being said, i dont think pomni is good at delivering comfort. i think i might have said this yesterdays request w/ a crying reader where she just. sucks at giving comfort. like most of the other characters on the list (if not all) she will try to take you off to the side so you can have some space. doesnt know how to proceed though; does she try talking you through this? do you need a moment alone? i think she would try to fill the silence with random conversation; words that arent exactly tied to the current thing going on, you know? just to fill the noise. another one where youre going to have to fill her in on what works best for you personally when youve unwinded enough to be able to think straight, you know?

RAGATHA:

drum roll please

she takes you off to the side; but with a twist! she takes you to your room so youre somewhere familiar and safe, so you... well feel more comfortable and safe. i think she would also talk about random things, like pomni to fill the silence; but while pomni kind of just talks to nothing, ragatha would leave the conversation open just enough so if you were to... say want to join her in this distraction, then you have a spot to join. you know? not totally blocking you off from an escape, but also not forcing it onto you before youre ready to move forward. if that makese sense. at least thats what personally helps the admin. definitely walks you through some grounding, i think

JAX:

easily one of the worst, i think. not because he would kick you when youre already down, but because proper comfort and soothing really isnt his thing. his entire deal is that he picks on and bullies everyone to keep himself entertained and busy.... that doesnt strike me as someone who is very emotionally mature and ready to be able to help someone who is shutting down... so i think the first few times he might actually make things worse due to the simple fact that he has no idea what hes doing. after a few scenarios of you freezing, though, i think he would slowly figure out what needs to be done... okay so take you away from whatever is stressing you out, dont push you... checks notes... dont be intimidating, you know basic stuff! not stellar, but hes learning... probably just pushes you down to sit on your bed, or even his bed if his room is closer. doesnt talk, i think; you guys just kind of sit in silence, i think. mostly because jax still doesnt know what to say tbh

KINGER:

honestly as i try to come up with ideas for kinger, i can see kinger being the type to shut down and freeze in moments of stress. he either outright freaks out, or just goes still and quiet. its a coin toss for him. same song and dance, he takes you away and to somewhere quiet and not... overstimulating... more often than not he takes you to the pillow fort; or hell he might even start building one right there around you! leaves the softest and most comfiest pillow for you so you can hold and squeeze it however you wish. impromptu stress toy, more or less, i think. tends to be very controlled and quiet when you get like this, idc what anyone says kinger would be the king of comfort (dad/grandpa vibes yk) tries to come up with solutions as well as ways to prevent this happening in the future; or at least work out a system so you have a way out before things get too terrible

ZOOBLE:

like a cross between jax and pomni i think. they kind of sometimes underestimate the depth(?) of these scenarios and how impacting it can be; but they are also so so bad at comforting people in general. rather than taking you to the side i think they would try to get everyone else to leave if theyre not confident that your state wont get worse if they touch you. only really does this if you shut down in a space thats like; not the common living area... though i do think they would still try to tell everyone to back up should the location be there... tries to lower their voice and make it sound softer; which is way harder than it looks! theyre so used to being sarcastic and tired sounding! another case of "it takes some time to get right" you know? generally does try their best though, does not ever make you feel less than for your reactions or minimizes you

GANGLE:

genuine panic when it happens, especially when it happens for the first time. kind of stuck on what to do since her response to stress is different from yours (you freeze, she cries). though i do think she would have a solid means of helping you out. takes you to her room, and lets you draw. thats it

well okay i should be more specific. she lets you doodle around on papers to try to get the feelings out. not even like, doodles in the way of flowers or people or what have. just scribbles and lines and circles, just to help you through it, you know? tries to quiet reassure you that youre safe in here with you, and surprisingly enough, does a decent job of keeping herself held together for your sake... doesnt pry for you to talk if youre not ready, and keeps an eye on you to make sure youre safe. similar to kinger, you guys try to come up with a system to help avoid these situations/have a way out

uh, controversial opinion, i didnt like the MD finale

[spoilers/ranting]

now dont get me wrong, i feel like the ending was fine, but the trip to get to said ending? ehhhhhhhhhhhh..

the animation is like, the greatest, prob the greatest in the entire series. however, the writing for that episode feels under cooked. like, theres too many plot holes, too many lose ends, the pacing is absolute dog water.

but the biggest issue? N and Uzi's personalities changed. Uzi reverted back to pilot emo gremlin, and N turns into strictly Uzi support with PTSD.

like, idk, i feel like N really didnt do anything, like, you could prob remove him from the episode and it would be more or less the same. and if you look at the merch?

feral N? decapitating J??? i dont think N earned this, that didnt happen. im 99% sure N doesnt even lay a finger on J that whole episode, the most he even interacts with J is writing the "I O U one spaceship" note. like, the N that was teased and shown in the merch vs the N in the actual episode is not the same person. [no i dont mean that literally]

Vs stand? she 'died' fighting the sentinels, Uzi's? she sacrificed herself fighting the solver/cyn, N's? he didnt do that, eldritch J doesnt even show up in the finale, N doesnt really even fight outside of supporting Uzi and V, none of the DDs even get X visors for that matter.

alot of the characters feel useless i think. like, khan doesnt really do anything, nori doesnt really do anything, thad and lizzy, N, hell, even J. this episode just kinda boils down to Uzi vs Cyn with strong support from V. wouldnt be so much of an issue if Uzi hadnt had her time to shine in episode 7 aswell, like, everything before this was building up for N to take a grand stand or something. he should be PISSED at Cyn, everything and everyone hes ever loved got stripped from him because of Cyn, he literally DIED for Cyn back at the manor, only to watch as himself and V are mutilated and transformed into the DDs, and he gets dumped on a planet where hes abused by J for god knows how long, and when he finally starts to stand up for himself, make a friend/lover in Uzi, reconnect with V, they end up 'dying' right in front of him, FOR him aswell.

all of that stress, all of that fear, all of that anger, and what does N do when he gets back to the surface? sees J working with Cyn? sees Cyn literally destroying the planet? hell, even comes face to face with Cyn?? he just stands there in fear. weve seen N push past his fear before, weve seen N confront Cyn before, so why now is he just standing there? or the one point in the fight where he stops because Cyn flashes a picture of a dog on her visor, like, that shouldnt of have stopped him. thats the person he should hate the most in the universe right now, giving him second thoughts over a png of a random dog. like, huh???????

N also never gets a resolution to his literal years of CONSTANT abuse from J. the only time N lays hands on J is episode 2 with eldritch J. who fights J the whole finale? V. whos pissed at J for betraying them? V. but whos decapitating J in the mural? N. huh? what? why??? also this is a minor nitpick, but in the ending where N yells "THATS MY GIRLFRIEND!!! :D" that doesnt seem like an N thing to do, like, N is a very humble character, he doesnt come off as the type to brag about having a gf.

not to mention Uzi, omg. i think in the finale Uzi is just being a dickhead. for example, when N recovers her he openly says and expresses that hes angry at her for what she did, and what does she do? she headbutts him and calls him a bitch. now lets consider V. what does she do upon finding out N is alive? she apologizes profusely, UNPROVOKED.

what does Uzi do upon seeing V is fine? she makes a deadpan comment about how shes happy V is alive. now tbf, she does look back and give a genuine smile, just to say like "hey, im being serious tho", but like, still, damn Uzi.

another thing i dont like is how serious moments keep getting ruined by jokes. every time something devastating happens, you either dont get time to process it before gets resolved, or the tension is destroyed by a joke.

N getting his core ripped out for example, the second i started to panic, like "OH GOD CYN HAS N'S CORE-" his core is back in his body and hes fine after like 10 seconds. every 'fake out' death in that episode doesnt work, because it gets resolved in literally 20 seconds or less. but i feel thats more a result of the serious pacing issues in the episode.

the episode is 20 minutes, whatever, but keep in mind, MD: Intermission, THE FAN EPISODE, is about 21 minutes long. thats right, A FAN EPISODE MADE BY A COLLEGE STUDENT WAS LONGER THAN THE FINALE. WHAT????????

overall i just think the finale comes off as incredibly rushed, hell, even the merch seems rushed. now im not gonna point any fingers, but certain items seem kindaaaa, ehhhhhhh [cough cough, cat V plush, Cyn plush, and random sticker sheet that just uses the animatez box art]

but yea, thats my 2 cent about the MD finale, overall im prob gonna forget about that episode and go read fic rewrites or something

what ticks me off about how people make fun of denki, mina, sero, ect. for being “stupid and dumb” is that it’s not entirely true.

U.A also has a written exam, and since U.A is so prestigious it’s got to be difficult. not to mention high school entrance exams in japan are already known to be difficult.

which means that THEY ARE SMART!!! the person who’s the bottom of the class would probably be in the middle-ish in a normal high school.

they are smart, because if they weren’t THEY WOULDN’T HAVE GOTTEN INTO U.A ‼️‼️‼️

when jirou jokingly suggests“jammingwhey” as a hero name, denki thinks she’s referring to ernest hemingway. someone who is as stereotypically dumb as the fandom makes him out to be wouldn’t make that connection or even know who hemingway is.

like just bc they aren’t *as smart* as everyone else doesn’t mean they’re bumbling idiots

I have talked about denki and how he actually isn't dumb but just processes information in a much more different way than others. Horikoshi also consistently shows this aspect of his character a great moment is when nedzu is describing and explaining how he changed UA's security system and denki just uses concepts that he already knows to simply digest and explain to himself the information that's been shown to him.

Personally I headcanon that denki is neurodivergent and has ADHD

When it comes to other characters that you have mentioned like mina and sero they aren't dumb as well but are just smart in other aspects. I also need to mention the fact that neither did any of these characters fail a theory exam!!! Everyone in class 1a passed their written tests!! So no they aren't dumb at all.

However it can be argued that they struggle at analysing opponents and making quick decisions and thats what led to denki and minas failure against nedzu.

SERO DESERVES JUSTICE AND SHOULDNT OF FAILED FOR PASSING OUT!!!!

Also you bring up a good point that goes a lot of people's heads UA is a private school and one of the most prestigious ones in the entirety of Japan. Japan is already known for it's long school hours and insane education system but a private school is definitely way worse when it comes to all of this so everyone in 1A is very intelligent it's just that some are different to others and if they were to be compared to other schools (especially public ones) they would be superb in that aspect.

May I also add that everyone who is seen at the top of the list of smartness or test scores in class 1A comes from very either wealthy families or a private school except of one person which is Izuku midoriya. Out of topic but this shows how intelligent Izuku actually is and the fact that he is able to keep up with people who have had more advantages than him says a lot!!!

Genuinely and totally honestly, i do not care that skyler fucked ted. In fact, yknow what i think? Good. She shouldve.

She did it after learning what the fuck walt had been doing, he had lied to and manipulated her and their son, he had been worrying her and scaring her for so long already by that point. His lies were terrible when it came to this situation, and then when he has the option to come clean to her, he doubles down.

So yknow what? She deserved to take some kind of revenge.

Did she make the best choices? Not at all. She should have dropped walt to the cops ASAP. She shouldnt have used ted like that. She couldve been so much better. She made mistakes, but they arent entirely her fault. She tried her hardest with a bad situation. She really did love walt and want the best for her family, thats why she was so torn up and why she didnt rat him out.

So on a list of worst choices shes made, fucking ted isnt even near the worst. Honestly, number 1 is smoking while pregnant. Number 2 is not ratting out walt.
