“Your Martha is REALLY Jewish.” When I tell you that 3/4s of the things she says in that fic are literal quotes from my mom and grandma…sometimes the stereotypes are true.

One thing I hated for Hayley (and I’m just making an assumption here) was that she always felt like she had to or needed to promote her ex husband. She would make herself super small in order to make him look big. God, his music was ass. No offense to fans of that band.
i can see that tbh. like even when you think about how they were ALWAYS on parahoy even though they didn't need to be. i think she's talked about it like super super briefly before, it may have been in mayim bialik's podcast. paramore being so huge and nfg having been around all those years and not rlly being able to maintain what they had.... yeah

“Ken Jennings hate account” is not a fucking joke btw. This man has absolutely ruined jeopardy. Literally the entire reason I didn’t watch celebrity jeopardy as it was airing was because I cannot stand him. I saw one episode (Chris Meloni’s because unfortunately I am SVU trash) and it was so painful to sit through. Ken is bad enough on regular jeopardy, but on celebrity jeopardy? He is a million times worse. Every joke feels so painfully forced. He has horrible banter. The celebrities basically have to take over and run the show themselves for any sort of entertainment value (because let’s be real here, celebrity jeopardy is not real jeopardy. It’s just all for fun). I refused to watch it because it was just so awful and I didn’t feel like torturing myself that way. But for whatever reason, I finally did watch it all, and now I feel so heartbroken that I didn’t get to watch it in real time. I should have completely shocked watching Lisa Ann Walter’s come from behind win in the championship game, but instead I’ve known she was the winner for months and watching it happen was just a formality. I get that not everybody likes Mayim Bialik - I honestly don’t love her myself - but she was quite literally a million times better on celebrity jeopardy (and regular jeopardy!) than Ken could ever hope to be, and if she really isn’t coming back, then jeopardy needs to figure something out and find somebody new to host this show because Ken is not the fucking answer.

just reading liorah's bio. do you have fcs for her parents and sisters? what is her relationship like with her family?
|| Hiiii! I do have faceclaims for her parents and her uncle, who makes an appearance in the fic I'm writing.
Faceclaim for her father, Yefrem, is Liev Schreiber.
Faceclaim for her mother, Yafet, is Fran Drescher.
Faceclaim for her uncle, Pavel, is Paul Reubens.
Faceclaim for her older sister, Malkah, is Mayim Bialik (who was inspiration for Liorah's middle name!).
And last, but not least, faceclaim for her younger sister, Rivkah, is Lilly James.
Liorah's relationship with her parents is surprisingly good. She didn't run away from home due to issues with them, but due to issues with a cousin. Liorah has always been prone to running away, so her family never really gave it much thought when she took off.
Her parents are protective and loving. Liorah is very close with Malkah, and has a love/hate relationship with Rivkah.

Not to be an angry dweeb but if I have to look at Ken Jennings' stupid face as the host of jeopardy for the foreseeable future I am going to lose my mind. he looks like a blonde gerbil. he looks like a four year old with really long arms. he looks like wet cheesecloth draped over a plastecine statue of Julius Caesar. I want him gone. I hate him he has the personality of an unripe carrot. He's probably sticky all the time and pulls his mask down when he orders coffee anyway I hate that guy. I hate him.

Honestly despite all of us knowing & seeing how WILLFULLY stupid some people are across all walks of life, I think it does throw people off when otherwise left-leaning celebs, like. Don't believe in vaccines or like psych meds or fluoridated water, not in a Hotep New Age pineal gland type of way but full on "it's poison from the government" tinfoil hat stuff. But then go get thousand dollar collagens & hydromicrodermabrasions and facial filler or whatever.
Like if one of your friends said it you'd go, "Are you fucking stupid? Is something going wrong in your life?" and if your parents/grandparents said it you'd be like "Okay we need to restrict your Facebook, YouTube, and access to Fox News," but Hollywood is full of very superstitious & (not to say this in a funky way, but objectively speaking) undereducated adult people.
Or even with VERY educated people, they'll just still be such assholes they TURN stupid! Mayim Bialik is not a stupid person, but she had a mini antivaxx scandal, because she was parroting antivaxx ~woo autism boogeyman~ fearmongering about "vaccine schedules" being too much for children's bodies (they're not. I got all my shots AND boosters AND was an early adopter of chicken pox vaccine as a child AND an early adopter of two diff kinds of COVID vaccine & I'm literally fine). Fwiw she came out later & was like "damn ok my kids have had their shots leave me alone," but like... she has a PhD in neuroscience from UCLA. By all rights she should fucking know better, but see what conspiracy theories do to a perfectly good functional human brain? They give your brain a fucking swirlie & flush your common sense down the toilet.
Anyway. Goddamn, I hate to agree with condescending Europeans on this one, but the American public is anti-intellectual & only getting dumber as FUCK as time progresses. This is how the whole damn pandemic has gone. @ my friends in other countries GIRL HELP they stupid out here fr. 😭

People hate on Mayim Bialik for a lot of dumb reasons, including because she doesn’t seems smug while hosting Jeopardy. Like, she’s less grating than Ken Jennings. She also wrote and directed one of my favorite movies of this year.

The One Where I Ramble About 4 US Sitcoms
I want to start this by saying Abbott Elementary is the best television show for me. Currently. It has a great mix of heart and comedy--but most importantly, I love the characters. They're all real, relatable, and remarkable in their own ways.
The best part about Abbott Elementary is learning that creator Quinta Brunson populated her writing team with people she worked with at Buzzfeed. People I enjoyed watching when they were still in Buzzfeed. So even though I do not know them personally, I feel a sense of pride that they're able to produce gold with this show.
Now, if you've seen my rants about Kung Fu, you might be wondering: why am I not devoting a full post to this wonderful show? It's simple. I don't want to say anything about the episodes and plotlines in the off chance that this makes you want to give the show a shot. I want you to be able to watch the show with no notion of what's gonna happen and who it's gonna happen to.
Moving on to something that's not as good for me but still pretty great for network television--I want to talk about the US version of Ghosts.
I know a bunch of people maligned the show here on Tumblr because it's not at the same level as the beloved British sitcom. But here's the thing: of course it's not at the same level because the two programs are in two different houses! … Okay, let's move on from my dud of a joke.
The US Ghosts wasn't must watch TV for me when it started, but it quickly carved a place in my heart when it began to explore the back stories of its supporting cast of characters. I love the fact that although most of the characters were carryovers from the original, albeit dressed a little differently, they pretty soon found their own groove and jive.
And, to be quite honest, with the last five episodes of Season 1, US Ghosts is no longer the same show as the UK Ghosts. The only thing they have similar now is the fact that their main female character can interact with the house ghosts.
Okay. Now that I've done my gushing, it's time for me to bring the energy down a little… I've decided to stop watching Call Me Kat. Which is gutting for me because I love its source material. Miranda was such fun, and while Call Me Kat was able to finally find its own footing and its own funny… it quickly ruined any goodwill it earned from me by trying to reset to its source code.
Season 1 Call Me Kat was very hard for me to watch because I truly do not see anything between Kat and Max--the US versions of Miranda and Gary. They're great as friends, but I feel no sexual chemistry between the actors. Cheyenne Jackson could light the set on fire with any of the other characters--including one-off guests--and yet couldn't even manage a single spark with Mayim Bialik. Likewise, Mayim has crazy chemistry with Christopher Rivas who plays Oscar and new recurring guest actor Andy Favreau. But Mayim and Cheyenne just don't work together as a romantic goal… And that should be fine!
If there's anything TV should have learned by now, it's to not do a How I Met Your Mother. Don't force the endgame you planned in the beginning if your characters and your viewers are clearly more on board with anything else.
And speaking of How I Met… I actually enjoyed the Hulu series How I Met Your Father. I hated how the finale ended…but that's mostly because the showrunners decided that it was the best way to end the first season, although renewal wasn't in the cards yet. It's not as buzzy as its mother series, but the spin-off has just the right amount of je ne sais quoi to be a comfort show. I am grateful to Hulu for renewing the show--so I don't have to cast a curse on the showrunners had that ending been for the series finale.

Concept for a TV show
Plot:
A comedy mockumentary TV series in the style of “The Office” and “Parks and Rec”, this time focused on a mid-sized workers compensation law firm. The show humorously follows the attorneys and staff of the firm as they deal with each other, rival law firms, the court, their own clients, and so on.
Main Cast:
1) Colin Mochrie plays the lead senior attorney and the head of the firm. He is an old man trying to stay “hip” with the kids, leading to situations where he ends up embarrassing himself and the others around him.
Tumblr media
2) Mayim Bialik plays the second senior attorney of the office. She is recognized as the toughest attorney in the firm and is greatly feared by rival lawyers for her intimidation tactics.
Tumblr media
3) Osric Chau plays an associate attorney who originally wanted to do environmental law, realized he hated it, and switched to workers comp although he’s clearly not passionate about it.
Tumblr media
4) Brett Dalton plays an associate attorney who is known in the office for being a “suck-up” due to him intentionally getting close to the senior attorneys to move up in the firm.
Tumblr media
5) Jessica Parker Kennedy plays an associate attorney who just recently passed the bar exam, thus making her the most inexperienced and naive lawyer of the group.
Tumblr media
6) Sufe Bradshaw plays the no-nonsense senior secretary, handling Mayim Bialik and Colin Mochrie’s files.
Tumblr media
7) Emily Kinney plays the overly friendly junior secretary, handling Osric Chau, Brett Dalton, and Jessica Parker Kennedy’s files.
Tumblr media
8) Ben Schwartz plays a jaded paralegal who hates where he is in life since although he got through law school, he’s failed the bar exam four times.
Tumblr media
9) Jacob Batalon plays a paralegal/law clerk who is currently going through law school and joined the firm to gain experience.
Tumblr media
Recurring / Guest Cast:
1) Amy Poehler plays the lead attorney of a rival law firm (the closest the series has to a main antagonist).
Tumblr media
2) Kevin Brown plays the overworked head of the law firm’s billing department
Tumblr media
3) Constance Wu plays one of the firm’s attorneys from a different branch office.
Tumblr media
4) Giorgia Whigham plays the bored receptionist
Tumblr media
5) Patton Oswalt plays a qualified medical evaluator (QME) who is often hired by the firm to evaluate the injured worker
Tumblr media
6) Phyllis Smith plays the head of human resources
Tumblr media
7) Mallory Jansen plays an associate attorney in the firm who mainly works off-site, which is why she is only in a recurring / guest capacity.
Tumblr media
8) Ryan Stiles plays a senior attorney working from a different branch office (could be from Constance Wu’s office), is Colin Mochrie’s best friend
Tumblr media
9) Keith David plays a workers compensation judge who the attorneys deal with constantly
Tumblr media
10) Paul Rudd plays an injured worker who is recognized as one of the more difficult applicants to deal with

I knew this would happen. Which is why I copied and pasted into a Word doc for later use. The original link of the “fantasy issue” of Sassy for December of 1994 is not working. In the event that it does come back up, click here.
Recall that there was a three-month period where Sassy changed hands. There were no official magazines from December 1994 through February 1995. But someone was dreaming . . . word for word, with all of its typos, here is the text:
Hey there chump! welcome to SISSY, the secret lovechild of old $kool Sassy mag and BLAIR - and written entirely by celebrities. Does mayim Bialik count as a celebrity? ...uhm, yeah.
so check it. the story goes that our much beloved sassy was bought and sold and the entire staff replaced by a new child safety lock staff - a staff who chose the word guido as their first new Glossary word of the month. Yeah, racist and like entirely pre-82? ...at least it's not SUBVERSiVE.
anyhow, sIssy is the LOST dec'94 issue of sAssy - the last issue EVER, never published before, syquests still at the printers, etc. It was gonna be put out as a paper zine, but everyone was too bummed out, and where the fuck did those disks go?! blair got slipped the ratty 3rd gen xeroxes and the rest is all here, revamped for the web. woo hoo!!
read up kid.
(see signature at top)
special thanks:ex-sassy staff. mayim bialik (so lame she's kool), brent the boy model (yow.), billy corgan, mike D., evan "i wish i were him" dando, james iha (who actually volunteered to write his feature on lolla 94), thurston moore aka [email protected], rupaul queen of queens, chloe sevigny (ex-intern turn star), veruca salt (who hate all things "sickly-sweet and cloying").
thanks to contributers who didnt make the web issue: damon "i need yet another cover of the FACE" albarn, tyra banks who agreed to write her own fashion copy but whose xerox was so poor it could not be salvaged, naomi campbell whose SWAN novel was excerpted but then decided against cause #1 she didnt even write it herself, and #2 she snubbed her fans (me) at the barnes and nobles booksigning last winter, dr dre and ed lover, janeane garofalo whose HELP section was in lost pieces and right at the good questions!, lady kier who handed in her copy despite the fact there was a fire in her apt, ben lee, ian "he of affordable shows" mackaye, maki nomiya baby love child, ricky "beastie boy hanger-on" powell, michael stipe (did he really fuck kurt?), jenna "six" von oy (saw her doll at the flea market on 26th st), dean ween, wiley wiggins who answers email like a speed demon, dweezil zappa brother of the legendary moonunit.
NO thanks to:hope sandoval of mazzy star. she never showed up at the big fashion shoot she PROMISED to do. when mary called her, she didnt even apologize, but said she was going to get some custom leather pants made. oh. hope they give her a wedgie.

Happy Festivus please go off about Ken Jennings and don't hold back
That fucking bastard
I’m not even gonna get into the actually shitty things he’s done because I just really don’t want to, so I’m just gonna focus on the petty stuff I hate
Like, okay, we get it, you won 74 games of jeopardy 20 years ago. That doesn’t make you special. Move on with your life
He is SUCH a terrible jeopardy host. I totally get having him be one of the guest hosts right after Alex Trebek died, and he was definitely far from the worst out of that group, but really? Picking HIM of all people out of the permanent host? He has the personality of a boiled potato and wastes so much time trying to interject dumbass comments and make stupid jokes that it completely ruins the show.
Sure, it was funny when he accidentally gave away the answer to one of the questions during that just for fun matchup between Amy Matt and Matea during the tournament of champions, but if that was a real match? Come on. Grow up and at least pretend to act like a professional
Also his fucking comment that gave it away was about his win streak which makes it even more annoying
And he somehow needs to bring up his winning streak every fucking chance he gets? Any time someone goes on a long win streak, he’s like “but of course you’ve still got a long way to go before catching my record” and he just needs to fucking stop
He’s not good at this. He needs to go away. They need to get someone else to host the damn show. I know I keep mentioning Mayim Bialik but that’s only because she’s the only other person that they hired. She’s not great either, but between the two of them, she’s INFINITELY better
Also he blatantly plays favorites with contestants on the show and he needs to fucking stop. He screws up so much. He’s ruining jeopardy
I don’t understand why he’s still relevant in the slightest or how he even got this job in the first place. He is the WORST
In conclusion, fuck Ken Jennings, bring back Mayim Bialik

i hate big bang for so many reasons one of them being that once mayim bialik came onto the show it didn't immediately become all about her character. she was a million times more interesting and funny and cool than any other character on there. <3

55 for the smh asks?
55 - What’s something you’re surprisingly intense about?
honestly i’m intense about a lot of things that i really don’t need to be, but i feel like the most surprising is how intense i get about jeopardy. i try to watch it every night it’s on and i’m 100% the annoying person shouting out every answer i know
especially since alex trebeck died i’ve been keeping up with who’s hosting. i’m excited for mayim bialik but she won’t be hosting all the time. they were gonna have one of the producers as the other hosts but he stepped down bc of some problematic stuff he said (not sure what) so they have ken jennings in his place. the problem is i have a deep seething hatred for ken jennings, he’s not charismatic at all and i think he’s trying way too hard to be and it’s just not landing. that’s not really justification for the amount of hate i feel towards him but i just really don’t like him. something about him just irks me and i hope they find a replacement stat. they were talking about aaron rodgers for a while and i liked his stint but he’s still like an active football player i think so they’ll probably have to pick someone else.
i’m obsessed with the current champion though, she’s incredible. She’s a trans woman named amy schneider and she plays the game like no one i’ve ever seen. she’s only an 8 day champ but she’s already has 9th highest winnings. she absolutely dominates throughout the game and somehow always gets daily doubles. last night she had like 5x the money the other two contestants had by final jeopardy, she’s amazing. and she goes through her whole game strategy and thoughts on twitter afterwards, i’m really hoping she lasts a while and she definitely will is she keeps playing like this.
that was a lot lol, i told you i was intense about jeopardy

i guess most of the reason i had a deep dislike for mayim bialik is that i hated amy farrah fowler i fuckin guess because after a while of watching her on jeopardy i had the sudden, intrusive, shocking and distressing thought “ok she’s kind of hot” :/
