There's this moment in Mark of Athena (I think), where Annabeth kind of internally laments that Percy doesn't listen to her when she talks about architecture. She describes his eyes glazing over etc etc. But there are several moments in the books where Percy recalls facts she told him and shares them with other, or moments where he sees a building he thinks is cool and thinks about her. And I just ... I need Annabeth to know that her best friend & boyfriend is hanging onto every word and even sharing her facts with other people.

helly getting to be selfish and make a decision for herself instead of killing herself for a woman she doesn't know :') lovely, the argument against this is just agreeing with lumon that innies aren't people and deserve to die

helly r has always been someone motivated not by what she personally wants for herself but by how most effectively she can give her outie and by extension lumon the middle finger. hanging herself in the elevator, threatening to cut off her fingers. she has never once had any regard for herself. only how she can stick it to the people who put her here. "I'm gonna kill your company". that's what she vowed. and helly r would recognise that allowing mark to leave with gemma and revealing to the world what they did to her would be the end of all of this. she'd finally get her revenge. helly r is someone who would recognise that as a worthy sacrifice. and she tells mark this herself. that it's worth it for what it'll do to lumon. and a version of helly r that cares more about running down a hallway that will eventually lead them into a dead end whilst the woman they just risked everything to save, a woman who's just been held hostage for two years by the company helly hates so deeply, screams and begs for her husband to come with her, not even checking to see if she gets out safely, not even giving her a second glance, is not the helly r that we have come to know. she is not empowered, she is not a revolutionary. she's just another female character whose defining fire was extinguished the second the writers decided to make her a love interest to the male protagonist. I truly don't know where you guys get the idea that markhelly is somehow sticking it to the man by prioritising each other over literally everything else, but from where I'm standing it's just another case of the writers of a tv show forgetting the basic fucking characterisation of their main female character in order to centre her arc around a man. I APPRECIATE the sentiment that mark and helly have a right to, and maybe its even more thematically impactful to, choose each other with reckless abandon, I SEE the point they're trying to make, but it has come at the cost of helly's characterisation literally all season and the bottom line is that it's really fucking disappointing to see yet another female character who was the strongest personality in the cast at one point go through this kind of degeneration of drive and motivation because of her feelings for a man. its fucking boring and overdone and i miss season 1 helly so bad it hurts

Did a redesign of Connor’s mystery wife! She’s gotta be my oldest OC, I literally designed her like a week after I got into AC back in February 2019. I know @ramshackledtrickster has posted her a bunch, but I wanted to share her on here too :3

Her name is Tekonwenaharake! That’s more of a placeholder name, really, since there’s a living Mohawk person with the name, but I don’t wanna just refer to her as “T” or “Connor’s wife,” so I’ll be tagging her like this if I post her more!

These drawings came about because I was playing around with drawing her more historically accurate. Eventually, I found a happy medium between her original design and historical records from the time (paintings, clothes, etc.). I really loved how this turned out and I hope you guys do too!

Also fun fact: I always try to make her look like an older version of Io:nhiòte since I imagine she looks a lot like her mom. I imagine even the earrings were gifts to Io:nhiòte that she then wears in the AC Reflections comic!

i was on a "thinking about ryuk" kick earlier and. i get the appeal of saying he's the only one who sees light in his entirety — it makes perfect sense, he's the one who light monologues to about his grand plans, he's the one who light stays with practically 24/7 for five years — but i don't think it's completely true?

ryuk to me has this tendency to assume that light is straightforwardly malicious (see: he thinks light was lying when light says he'll avenge his father if soichiro ever gets killed by kira, he doesn't really get why light wants to do things like reveal his location to L until light explains he wants to eliminate L entirely, he takes the "i wish i had wings" thing seriously as though it's supposed to be part of light's Master Plan instead of a little quirk that light was clearly feeling vulnerable about, he's surprised when light isn't willing to kill sayu in the second arc). like there's real fondness for light in there as well, he congratulates light for getting into college for instance, but i don't really feel like ryuk has ever. understood him fully. he's trying, he gets better at it over time, but he does have a bias.

and i think, also, that this is because ryuk has another tendency to assume that light is just like him.

which makes sense, because light is the one who offers up "i was bored, too" as a genuine point of commonality between them. and then ryuk jumps to "you know, you'd make a really good shinigami!" and "hey light do you want the eyes" and then at the end "we eased each other's boredom for quite a while." he does notice when light is acting weird and tries to adjust his viewpoint (he goes ! when light starts doing his "i've never been so humiliated in my whole life" thing) but given that he only figures out light genuinely cares for his sister when he refuses to sacrifice her, after five years of watching this whole family dynamic, i don't think he ever actually gets there.

correct me if I’m out of line bc I’m not a detransitioner, but I hate hate hate how common arguments against transition/“in defense of” detransitioners is “they can’t have kids!” or “they can’t breastfeed!”

why should mitigating harm always come down to what a woman can do for a potential child (or a man’s ability to father children)? why isn’t it enough to keep HER from harm? it’s just prioritizing women as broodmares all over again. why isn’t it enough to keep HER from chronic pain, heart and blood pressure issues, incontinence, necrosis, limited mobility and death?

Penelope owns a golden chain.

It is a thick, large piece with two cuffs connected to one end of it, made of robust metal that still shines beautifully years later. It stretches perhaps some four metres, at most, and the clasp in the middle allows her to twist it tighter if she wants it to. The blacksmith she had commissioned it from had given her two copies of the key- one of which she'd tossed off of a high cliff, and the other that she keeps safe in a locked box in her room.

It can clasp to her bed, to the throne and to the bath flooring. She had it enchanted by a witch on the run from a neighbouring kingdom in exchange for security, to never cross the limits of the shoreline- so she never loses it, she'd said. She had won a favour off an alchemist in a bet and gotten it spelled to never break. She polishes it every day carefully to look it's best before she leaves the room.

It has only one use.

"I will hobble you like a horse," She hisses to her husband when he returns to her after twenty years. Adjusts herself and leans down to whisper in his ear, "I will chain you down like a common beast, cut out that silver tongue of yours so you can no longer get into trouble, break your fucking legs."

The chain clinks as Odysseus gasps for air. Penelope smiles and traces the edge of his adoring, breathless grin. "You are not allowed to leave me ever again."

Penelope owns a golden chain.
