So while I'm unlikely to have enough time to get another whole comic out before the new year, I recently got hit by the urge to just draw some random facts about Ember that I'm not sure will ever end up showing up in a comic.

I tend to forget that all of her comic appearances so far have given a pretty shallow idea of what she's really like, so I figured this might be a fun way to flesh her out a bit more.

No idea how many of these I'll end up doing. I have a bunch in mind but I doubt I'll actually get through all of them.

If anyone has anything specific they'd like to know about her, let me know! I can't promise I'll be able to do a piece of art to answer it, but who knows.

I am also planning on answering a bunch of asks some time soon, I just keep getting derailed by other things.

Awww. I'm so sorry I never replied to this until now but fifjtjtk I'm not really that intimidating am I?? (*has sudden flashback to uni where most of my classmates avoided me unless in groups because they also said I seemed intimidating and intense when I thought I was just awkward*) but omg thank you for being brave enough to tell me!!

If sharks get flipped or turned upside down so they're essentially on their backs in the water, they go into a trance like state called "tonic immobility". It can last typically around 15 minutes and usually is initiated by stimulating their sensory booper-snooters and then turning them over since they kinda get that overload of info through their ampullae of Lorenzini which I talked about here! It's actually really cute to see but also is used by predators like Orca to make hunting sharks for their livers easier (I am sad) which is nature I guess but how mean of the penguin-themed dolphin!

Penny glanced at Izuku and away, looking very red. He sighed, shaking his head.

“If you're dating my dad I don't mind Penny,” Izuku said.

“What?” the soul in front of Izuku said.

“Yeah hold on sir,” Izuku turned to Penny. “Look- its not that weird. Demons don’t age like humans do, and they're immortal. Dad and Bel are like mid twenties. Dad’s been raising me since I was eight, and he hasn't aged. He's just… Dad. He's matured but hasn't like aged.”

“Still you're older then me,” Penny said, tugging on her hoodie string.

“Actually I chose to stop aging at nineteen,” Izuku said. “I really debated on if I wanted to share a demon lifespan but Sharkie was aging like a human and she's my best friend so…”

“Hell yeah,” Sharkie cackled, walking by to give Izuku a high five.

“Your father is a demon? We can date the demons here?” the soul in front of Izuku asked.

“Yeah you can,” Izuku blinked upon seeing no file. “Huh, you don't have a file.”

“Yeah I'm here to ask about the therapy programs,” the soul shrugged.

“Ah, level one is the softer ones but I do often do a few sessions on level two. But if you're on either level those demons won't date you. Patient-doctor boundaries,” Izuku said.

“Nah that's chill. My ex was my therapist, don't want to think about that,” the soul walked off.

“Well that's disturbing,” Izuku said before he turned to Penny. “Look Penny- it wont be weird for me. I don’t see you as a mother, or anything. You’ll be my friend still.”

“Thanks Izuku. I just… Oh I dunno. I guess its just a little strange?” Penny said.

“I mean how different is it from people getting married again when they have adult kids?” Izuku asked. “Other then the whole demon thing.”

“I think most people would be weird about parents marrying their friends.” Penny said.

“Like I said, the age stuff isn't a big deal given how ages work down here. I mean, if I was aging like demons do it would be a bit different, our relationship I mean. But I'm not. Its fine,” Izuku shook his head. “Just… no details.”

“Thanks Izuku,” Penny gave him a soft smile. “So… any info on your own dating life?”

“Really rather not right now.” Izuku said back. Penny nodded, letting the conversation go as they got back to work.

(Spoilers for Astarion's romance in Act 2)

I would have liked to do something for terrible comic day, but a stubborn migraine put the kibosh on that, so instead have something vaguely in the spirit of it. I tend to prefer to only post clean, finished work and this is decidedly not that.

This is an unfinished comic I started back in October that I unfortunately stalled out on while it was still in the roughs/planning stage. I was a little disappointed that during the post-Araj conversation you have with Astarion, you only got to choose one question to ask before the conversation moved on, and I wanted to try and combine a few of them into a single back and forth (I also originally just wanted to set up a joke and then it grew legs and ran off in a totally different direction😭)

No idea if I'll ever end up finishing this! I'd like to, it's just a question of whether I'll actually get around to it. Only time will tell.

If anyone's interested, I've also included an alternate, scrapped version of page 9 under the cut and some Ember Lore/rambling about what I was going for with this comic that probably doesn't come across properly thanks to where it cuts off

After finishing this page, it ended up just not feeling quite right. Not only did it put too much of the focus on Ember too early (I wanted to keep the spotlight on Astarion's feelings for a while longer) but her reaction came across too vulnerable, and was reading as her being upset to find out that Astarion hadn't been invested in the relationship when they slept together. I wanted the reader to be able to initially make that assumption because that's how Astarion is taking her reaction, but it leaned a little too heavy in that direction.

Ember was aware from the start that Astarion wasn't interested in a romantic relationship. She's been having one-night stands for over a decade, she knows what it looks like when someone's not looking for long-term. Her mistake was believing that he was trying to string her along without realizing she knew what he was up to. So she's not upset that he was using her, she's upset that there's a chance she hurt him by allowing it to continue despite knowing something was off.

Eventually I'll do some proper stuff about Ember's early days with the party, and her life in general before the events of the game!! Just gotta finish all the other stuff I have ongoing first 🙃

—Her flaws are she seems to have a big ego and a narcissistic nature because she speaks highly of herself because she doesn’t want someone to be friends with her and because she doesn’t want to be attached to that person again

— She’s gentle and loyal like she’s an asshole but she’s a nice asshole She’s tone deaf and doesn’t understand social norms which causes some misunderstandings and she can be crude and rude without realizing it.

— Tends to have a misogynistic outlook and has thought of outdated and problematic romances, where the the girl gets married off regardless of her permissions and other problematic romances, it surprised and horrified her peers when she was confused about the modern romance due to her background.

— She crushes on boys/girls around her age and fawns over them shamelessly or tries to get their attention and can be flirty without realizing it.

— When she bends her knees or crawls around, her ankles and knees crack loudly which makes it difficult for her to hide.

— She often comes off as a lazy or narcissistic person and she talks lazily, she speaks as if she’s better than everyone but in reality, she prefers to push people away so she wouldn’t get emotionally attached to others and ended up getting hurt and she’s tactful when it comes to swords and battles, she’s loyal and an adventurous plus a mischievous person but she means well, brutally honest person, although she states that she doesn’t care about Grim and Ace, or Deuce, in reality, she’s willing to help them in a more like an angry mom way…

— She’s mainly annoyed about the absurd situations they manage to get themselves in, back in her world, she often uses daydreams and music to escape from reality, she doesn’t understand social norms or how to socialize with other people due to her backstory and she’s not angry that she’s not in her world since she basically lost anything so why would someone remember her in her world.

— Harley was interested in cosplaying and fashion because it seems fascinating but she complained about how inaccurate the knights are and she gets bored easily because she wants to live her teenage life and enjoy the years that got lost in time, she doesn’t want to be vulnerable towards anyone but at the same time she wants someone to help her but she doesn’t know what to do or say, she tends to be flirty without even trying or realizing it but she gets flustered when someone showers her with love.

— Before arriving at Twisted Wonderland, when she was just a child but she had goat like eyes and abnormal hands, her physical strength was slightly above average, the townspeople got worried and scared and didn’t trust her or her family when she was a teenager she was accused of a crime and she was put on trial, at the end she got punished by the House of Judgement and was isolated in a dark void, she waited and waited until finally she was sent free by finding a slit in the void, she thought it was only 365 days since her punishment but when she saw the outside world, she realizes how different it was and realizes it’s been 365 years, heartbroken realizing she won’t find her family any more, she’s still not used to social norms which cause some misunderstandings.

— Once she was released from that void she was anxious since she didn’t know how different society was or how to function but she met an unknown goddess in the woods, but she met him in his phoenix form and he took her in despite not knowing how to parent a human but he trained her because she needed to control her abilities.

— The goddess is around 10,000 years old, The unknown goddess often teases her and his nickname for Harley is “Young Hare” While Harley is embarrassed by his teasing and often refers to him as “my goddess” she messes up and calls him Mother instead but after the unknown god’s got pierced in the chest by the new God of Justice, she was forced to retreat back with the unknown god in her arms she doesn’t know how to cope with what she saw so she wouldn’t acknowledge or process the lost.

— She thinks that all of this is part of her training as his apprentice and convinced herself that it’s just for training and that the Gods is watching over her for guidance, so she tries to move on and not process anything of her trauma at all. It’s a part of her training so she shouldn’t hang onto it. So thus she has to take care of the unknown god’s wounds.

I realized that I am very unhappy current story I have with Benign Butter and Sour Butter, and it didn't make any sense to me

so I decided to COMPLETELY SCRAP IT!!! :DDDDDD

Ik it's a big change, but I very much believe that a complete rewrite is an order!! and dw, some things in the story are still the same, just tweaked!

basically, Opera Cake Cookie ran away from their mother, Elder Mille-Feuille Cookie , and the St. Pastry Order when they where younger, they wanted to bring their younger sister, Napoleon Cookie with them, but alas she wasn't yet ready to part with her mother,,, not yet.
