Bruno, Sabrina, Luna, and Milton were the troublemaking quartet working under the main villain of a Vampire: the Masquerade campaign I ran a long time ago. I wanted to give them a fresh coat of paint after all these years!

There is a tradition of naming your children after deities in the Realms (so you might name your son 'Torm' or 'Helm'). Due to the shared name, deities are aware of them every time you say their name.

And then some bastards out there are calling their daughters 'Seluneshar.'

The good news is that deities tend to tune out most of the noise of their name being invoked and the constant wave of prayer (because it's apparently like discordant thunder directly in your ears 24/7 and they have to tune it out and selectively focus on only the important things or snap in the divine equivalent of sensory overload), so the goddesses are probably tuning these unfortunate girls out, but if I were them I would be side-eyeing my parents for giving me a name that invites that kind of attention...

K so I've been thinking about Rook a lot recently and I think his family needs a lot more love and attention. Especially since rook is one of the MAIN CHARACTERS of Omniverse I think bros in space (aka the harvest festival) should have been a three-parter (kind of like galactic monsters)

Anyways I've redesigned his siblings and basically overhauled shim and shi cuz they have zero personality.

(the art is pretty shit cuz I've been very busy, but I still wanted to post something 😔)

I'm eventually going to make a post about Revonnahgander biology and culture but for now the key details are:

- like cats they're born in litters

- fur color can be blue, gray, purple, black, white and brown

- very distinct social hierarchy

- A lot more religious than they are in the show

I'll get into all of his siblings individually =p

ROOK SHAR

Shar is the second oldest/second in command after her father. Since Rook Da is the head of their community he is often out working on social matters and overseeing farming this leaves Shar to cook meals, take care of the young ones, farm and do chores. She is constantly occupied with little downtime to make friends or have hobbies. This leaves her bitter at her whole family especially Rook since he is off world 'fraternizing with off-worlders'. She has dreams of following in her brother's footsteps and getting off world.

ROOK GI

Rook Gi is the outcast of the family, and does not have many good friends. She is not sure what she wants to do or who she wants to be. She is very pessimistic and gets angry very fast. She loves nature and treats animals better than she does people, usually she likes to be left alone so she can make music or just sulk. I think an episode where she gets to show off her leadership skills(?) would be really fun.

ROOK BREYER

Rook breyer is mostly nonverbal and just kind looks at ppl 😭 (she is autistic) she is inside most of the time cuz her family is very protective. I think the first episode of this three-parter would probably be her losing her b'inthak so Rook Ben can be all sad. Instead of Shar and Ben not being mind-controlled in "While You Were Away" it's Ben and Breyer cuz I think it would be cute.

ROOK BEN

He's mostly the same, I just made him a little bit more of a brat. I think he would also be way more attached to Rook than he is.

I don't have anything to say about Rook's parents yet but that will come. I'm probably going to tweak some of their clothes and stuff but who knows that's all I got for now =p

the thing abt raz is he desperately wants out of his shitty fucked up body and this essentially supercedes any other priority for him.

he is fascinated by shadowheart, in part bc of her shar worship (goddess of absence goddess of loss goddess of pain, a beacon for a man with no memories and no anchor but the pain in his body and the ways he finds to relieve it) and in part bc of the parallels between them - chronic pain and absent memories, a punishmentblessing from a god who sees you as a useful tool, an extension of their will (not that he knows this is his position, yet), and so he pushes her towards shar more and more because if shadowheart can be rewarded for her faith - if she can overcome her doubts and ultimately her pain, her punishment, then maybe he can too, and maybe it'll all start to make sense.

and for a while, it does! he gets the slayer form he gets a way out of his pain and his body he gets the rewardhigh from the killing and slowly he starts to tip over from -the pain is worth bearing for the larger goal- to -why shouldn't I be free of this- and he gets less and less concerned about it, and the relief starts to outweigh the guilt, and if he's being honest with himself he never felt that guilty anyway-

because raz is, when it comes down to it, a deeply selfish, intensely self important person, and the way his body is forces him to think about himself more than anything else (his pain, his loss, his absent memories) and that starts to consume him. and he does love shadowheart, but not enough to save her, and he does love his friends, but not enough to see past the things they tell him they want (ascending astarion, letting karlach die) because ultimately, everything else pales in comparison to him and his own desires.

Currently I have so many bg3 saves bc I refuse to delete my old ones that will likely never be finished (first ever gameplays, not optimized, everytime I open one I get overwhelmed and stop), but also because I keep making new games with the specific purpose of romancing a certain companion, seeing special dialog, doing a specific style of run, or getting an achievement on steam.

blue eye light sensitivity !!!

so whats so different about blue eyes vs all the other colors ?

simple. blue eyed folks (like myself and my siblings) have a higher sensitivity to light than people with other eye colors. for example, walking out of a store in the middle of a sunny day will hurt. a lot. we get all squinty-eyed and take longer to adjust to the bright sunlight. sunglasses are a huge help when outside, especially while driving. cute-but-effective sunglasses are the key. cloudy days are our best friends.

Rambling about Astarion bc im bored at work. I like Astarion because I think he is a genius take on The Evil RPG Companion, and is an especially great take on The Fixable Bad Guy. I don't think hes evil, but I do think Astarion is a genuinely bad person at the beginning, and I think Astarion is only drawn away from being a bad person - and experiences a great redemption arc - via active intervention from others. Astarion would not redeem himself without guidance; he is absolutely bent toward self destruction and evil at the beginning of the story.

I think comparing him with Shadowheart is what drew me to that conclusion. If you are nice to Shadowheart, as in you talk to her and respect her boundaries and do stuff she generally agrees with, she will choose to free Nightsong all on her own. You don't need to roll to convince her at all, or romance her or even push back on her Shar worship that much. You just leave it up to her, and she chooses that path. (Side note, what brilliant writing.)

Astarion is not like that at all. Even if you were tight as fuck he would not choose the good option, with no input, in Act 2. Astarion, like all the companions, needs help and connection to reach healthy actualization, but I think its great, resonant writing that Astarion needs the most active intervention of all. Because he's had his autonomy so completely taken away from him, he simply doesn't know how to use it anymore. He doesn't know how to connect with other people anymore. He's someone that's learned to enjoy cruelty, to resent the pleasure of others, and to be entirely selfish for survival. It makes sense that he must be dragged back into being capable of trust. He needs to be forced to be part of a community again; caring about things; allowing for vulnerability and optimism.

And like. How fucking smart is it to have THIS guy in THIS game. Because of the tadpole and the existential threat they're up against, he is actually forced to work with you. This kind of character is so hard to do in most RPGs because its like... why wouldn't he just betray you all and leave? Why would he stick with you? The tadpole clears all of that up. Astarion must stick with you or hes lost and dead. Astarion knows that you and the other companions are collectively stronger than him, so he can't betray you. He is forced to rely on you by default.

This is also what makes him SUCH a good version of the "you can fix him" romance; you are almost never the direct target of Astarion's bastardry because he can't fuck with you. The problem with Fix Him's is that usually they are a threat to the romantic lead, and fixing him requires enduring, soothing and forgiving the worst of his badness as some kind of test of loyalty, hopefully proving to him that being bad isn't necessary (toxic shit). But Astarion... can't do that. He is afraid to actually fuck you over because you are directly tied to his survival, and because you quickly show yourself to be more capable than him. He cannot have real power over you. (Until he's ascended, then he becomes the absolute worst version of the fix-it.)

I do think the trade off is that Astarion not directing his bastardry at you makes it easier to Ignore that Astarion is A Bad Guy, but I think that'd happen even if he was more of an asshole to you, so who cares. I think he's got the best written Redeemable Evil RPG Companion arch I've seen honestly. I love that he's so fun while being so tragic, whether redeemed or not.

I don't think "discussed" is the right word, more so mocked her for her blind faith and got into brief spats. It was precisely Shadowheart's water-off-a-duck's-back attitude towards his remarks that kind ingratiated her to him - DU drow spoke his mind, she took it in stride and remained firm in her beliefs without arguing or trying to push it on him. That, alongside the fact that they are surprisingly similar people is what brought them together as friends.

Even long after the events of the game he's still opposed to her hopping from Shar to Selune, also. Shadowheart's attachment to religion is simply something they agree to disagree about.

BUT YES, he killed Lae'zel when she tried to murder suicide the camp and I went through the whole game without her. I didn't go to the creche either!

I have since had other runs and she's actually one of my favorite characters, I just haven't had the chance to draw her yet.

Somewhat! But not really. He genuinely just likes jewelry, and rings are the only kind that suit his life-style (necklaces and earrings are a hazard during fighting) this is a reference to his bhaalist days when he used to be completely covered in the stuff day and night.

Hence why he finds them comforting to have on in some way or another. They change around because he gets bored of/misplaces runs out of fingers to wear the new rings that he loots constantly.

I don't know if it's been made clear enough, but DU drow's love for Astarion is borderline pathological, LOL. He's got a good humor about things and Astarion is definitely no stranger to having little quips and jokes made at his expense (a few references to him being Pointy And Long here and there, for sure), but the guy overwhelmingly adores him and thinks he's always the prettiest girl at the ball, even when he gets in his face and his nose looks huge.

I'll be honest, Astarion strikes me as the kind of guy that has like, 3 really weird books he really enjoys and reads them again and again very slowly over the course of years. Otherwise, not really a reader, but I digress -

DU drow was probably never a big reader himself, I would say he got started on a couple of books back in the day but likely never finished any. He's fairly intelligent, but most of his downtime was spent managing the cult and parsing through relevant documentation.

I definitely don't think he'd have the attention-span for fiction (which I picture as being said books that Astarion enjoys) but he does like to snuggle up with his beau to watch him read - every once in a while he catches a particularly scandalous line or description and they bicker about it. He makes a remark, Astarion feels obligated to explain the context, it devolves into some playful kind of argument that ends with Astarion telling him to go dig a hole and die in it while playing with his hair - The usual LOL.

Oh man I have a few more in-dept descriptions of how that went, both lore-wise and just for me as the player - but in summary, DU drow was pretty mean to everyone earlier on in the game and he did catch onto Astarion's very obvious and obnoxious seduction attempts very clearly. He doesn't like being so desperately pursued and they actually got off on the extremely wrong foot because of it, LOL.

After being unpromptedly rejected at the tiefling party he was a little more enticed by him, basically the "no" was his "go". I like to think of it like Astarion catching onto the fact that his initial strategy wasn't working and that this man in particular needed him to play hard to get - from that point on, DU drow started playing along. DU knew this was still a game, but now they were playing it on even ground so he was fine with it.

First of all - he inexplicably got butt-ass naked for the event.

All in all he liked it a whole lot and it was his re-introduction to the concept of pain being dished out as a form of love and his deep enjoyment of it.

Dang it I had a pretty good write-up about his thoughts on Wyll from a long time ago, but I can't find it 😭

In summary, Wyll was a frustrating person for him to be around because of what he viewed to be a deeply ingrained naivete about the world. He shockingly didn't hate him (Wyll is kind of difficult to hate) but he never really saw him as an equal either, and definitely not as a friend. Du drow just desperately wanted him to express something that he would perceive as a genuine emotion; some kind of outburst or show of anger or frustration, but all he ever saw was someone trying to put on an act of performative heroism that he didn't buy at all.

At the same time, Wyll was far too young for him to be too mad. He might have held his father more accountable for making the guy into what he was than Wyll himself, really.

Can a man be scared of being scared? Because if so, it's that.

He also doesn't like shit a normal amount. (piss is fine depending on whose it is.)

So completely dark there is no difference eyes open or closed. Warmth so perfectly suffused that she couldn't feel the boundaries of her skin. Quiet that translates into stillness and goes on forever.

First is the cold, a hundred million slices of icy fire. Then, a sucking, heavy pressure where her lungs should be. She gasps for air but finds no relief.

Every inch raw and screaming, Talia looks into the face of the Goddess.

She sees, for a moment, the beautiful silver Goddess that she served all her life. The kindly face gives way to a cruel and shadowed reflection.

A faint glow of moonlight catches on Ziri's tear streaked face. She is laid out in a clearing, hands clasped over her heart, murmuring some fervent stream as fresh tears well and spill over.

Talia draws closer. There's a sense of being in a dream, though even a nightmare has never hurt like this. She still hasn't managed to take a breath. By Ziri's side, she reaches out to brush hair back from her lovers face.

She doesn't feel the smooth soft skin, nor the heat of her tears. Her hair remains unmoved and Talia's fingers pass through, insubstantial.

Recoiling in horror, the gleam of silver catches her eye. A small sharp dagger. Memory unspools. Talia cannot breathe.

But she can scream.

This is Talia's pivotal moment, her transformation to full gothic horror.

Is it better to die young or get a second chance, no matter the price? What if you didn't even get to make that choice for yourself?

Talia didn't choose to return to the material plane, but she'll find herself trapped here nonetheless. Linked inextricably to Ziri, the one who wanted her back.

intro to the au, forewarning i haven't done much research, and my first playthrough of the game isn't done yet (I AM in act three tho I swear 2/3rds of the three guys r dealt with and so is cazador.) keep in mind i have no idea what i'm doing.

the mindflayer stuff is like. an experimental implant they all dubiously agreed to without all the info. extra enhancements (like the other tadpoles in game) are like drugs, and they appear once weekly at everyone's doors whether they want it or not. initial implant stabilizes Karlach's engine, helps with Astarion's vampire stuff, etc. etc. and the extras just feel good to use, it's addictive.

all of them are in a support group together meant to encourage them to stay clean from the extra tadpoles. time they've spent with the group varies.

there WILL be more detailed posts for them later, i have a lot of thoughts on Karlach and Wyll especially. implied/possible shadowzel and wyllstarion. my tav will be present, this is very self indulgent and i am in lesbians with Karlach.

My barometer for friendship is whether or not a person will let me talk about ants to them. Ants are the best animals in the world. So, as the sane person I am, I decided to speculate whether or not BG3 characters would let me talk about ants.

1. Gale

He would not be interested in the ants themselves, however he would enjoy learning previously unknown facts. He'd be genuinely interested and thank me afterwards for teaching him something new.

2. Shadowheart

In the game she states she loves animals, however I get the vibe this mostly means larger animals. Especially in the state she's in for the majority of the game, before she leaves Shar, I do not think Shadowheart would listen to me talk about ants. She'd not see the point in talking about something so trivial.

3. Lae'zel

Her first response would be something along the lines of: "cht, we do not have ants on the astral plane, why should I care?"

But then I show her the resemblance between ant culture and githyanki culture and she'd be impressed how all ants are ferocious warriors, who also care about the collective and have a queen. She'd come to appreciate ants through my stories and be willing to listen.

4. Astarion

As much as Astarion is one of my favourite characters, there is not a chance he will listen to me talk about ants. He will tap out after the first 10 seconds because of boredom and he would not see the point. He likely thinks insects are pests.

5. Halsin

He would be pleasantly surprised I'm showing such interest in a small and heavily under appreciated animal. However, when he hears how at least part of my admiration comes from their talent in warfare, he is not so pleased anymore.

I think he'd listen to me out of politeness, but not enjoy ants in and of themselves.

6. Wyll

He wouldn't be interested in ants, however he is too polite to show this. He would let me talk about ants and thank me for sharing afterwards, but not because he is interested in what I'm saying and more because he thinks its good I am sharing something important with him.

7. Karlach

A difficult one. I think it can go either of two ways. Either I manage to catch her attention about the battle prowess of ants within the first 10 seconds of this conversation, and she'd get pretty excited about what I am telling her. Or I do not and she zones out after the first 30 seconds because she seems to have a short attention span.

I'd have to throw in the impressive stuff right at the start, while I personally save best for last.

8. Minthara

She is my favourite character, so at first I was a bit sad that she likely wouldn't listen to me talk about ants.

However, then I realised this is not true. In game she mentions showing interest and asking questions about githyanki culture to Lae'zel, because she admires certain qualities it has. I think when she learns about how ants have perfected the art of warfare, live in an exclusively matriarchal society, have managed to take over the entire world without anything in the way to stop them, she'd be equally impressed and eager to learn more.
