She doesn’t really know where she came from, since there weren’t many inhabitants in her land until much later when it was colonized. So she spent a lot of her chibi years alone. She came to be some time in the 1520’s, as her islands were used more and visited more, even if people didn’t stay for very long until the French came along. Around the time when she began to be added to more maps after the Portuguese first noted the island’s existence labeled as “the Seven Sisters”.

If there was any skill she wished she could learn, it was sleight of hand. She wants to be able to juggle things between her hands and slip things out secretly. The card tricks that Monaco does utterly stun her and she wishes she could be that coordinated with her hands.

She's incredibly graceful on her feet and loves to dance about.

She's a skilled worker, but understands her limits, while often eager to get new jobs and likes to work hard, she is a big believer in that rest is equally as important. If she can't think or is frazzled, she rests and won't work until she can bring her 100%. When she’s sick she makes a lot of wild home remedies and is a bit of a drama queen about it. She doesn’t want to do any work or power through, just curl up in bed in a blanket cocoon and not leave her room until she’s well.

Her favorite movie genres are drama, fantasy and romantic comedies. She loves to watch notoriously “bad” movies to laugh at them for just how silly they are. She also watches a lot of Indian drama shows thanks to India's recommendations and love them to bits.

She’s pretty artistic, she loves ceramics and weaving. She’s happy with her creations because they’re a timestamp of the kind of person she was when she made it.

She feels small and insignificant compared to a lot of other nations. She knows she doesn’t have much power or impact on the international community, and she tries to not think about how powerless it can often make her feel especially when her country relies on things like tourism for revenue. The fact that she has to sell and advertise herself never fully sits well with her, she enjoys seeing people happy in her home, and finding joy where she finds joy, but at the same time knowing that pert of her will always be tied to others happiness makes her anxious in a way she doesn't like to think about.

You mentioned misogyny for female nations in media but how do nations see the line between male and female I feel it's more equal among nations as war is war and a soldier is a soldier also you mentioned Hungary but how do other female nations handle misogyny

I feel like the role of a female nation in war varies a lot. Some are soldiers equal to men, while others are only allowed non-combat roles. Otherwise, the diplomatic and bureaucratic workload they have is equal to other male nations.

I believe they handle the misogyny in a lot of different ways. Belgium is kind of used to being pushed aside due to being surrounded by her flashier neighbours. But has her limits for how much patronizing she can tolerate. She will assert herself in sexist interviews, but she will do so in a polite manner because she doesn't want to "make a scene".

Seychelles has the misfortune of being a woman of color. So not only does she have to deal with misogyny, but also being objectified by tourists who see her as nothing more than "exotic beauty." Because of her role as a tourism destination, she's kind of forced to put up with it all. She tries to not let other people make her feel bad about herself, and focuses on enjoying life.

Belarus has zero tolerance for it. She'll literally threaten to chop a man's dick off if he's sexist towards her. She is unapologetically herself in interviews, and will be very blunt about what she thinks the journalists intentions are. She used to be harassed by paparazzi a lot for photos of her "acting crazy", but she fixed the problem by threatening their families.

Ukraine has to deal with a lot of misogyny and stereotyping. People often hypersexualize her because of her big breasts, and paint her as submissive, gold-digging bimbo (which is often how Slavic women in general are portrayed in media). Ukraine is dismayed by how people see her, and it makes her deeply uncomfortable. She usually focuses on what she can control and chooses to help others. She also attends women's marches a lot, and acts as a role model for Ukrainian women.

Other than watching dramatic telenovelas she has recently gotten into anime thanks to Mexico introducing her to it lol. It began with Mexico going on about Dragon Ball and the rest is history.

When she's serious she spends a lot of time studying marine biology and boosting wildlife conservation. She also goes diving and actually participates in spearfishing invasive fish. She'll go on trips with her Island neighbors and make a competition of who can hunt the most lionfish, somehow America invites himself in everytime.

A text post of how Nations work in my universe.

1. All nations have an Essence. Kind of like a scent in Omegaverse, it is their very being and all nations can sense it. If they're only in the same room, such as in a World Meeting, they can tell basic things: if they're at war, how their agriculture's going, who they are, their gender, etc. If they're close relationship-wise (I.e Canada and America) they can tell: if they're stressed, if they're scared, etc.

Nations in close relationships often leave traces of their Essence on each other ( e.g. at World Meetings everyone knows that America and Canada are brothers, that France and Seychelles consider each other father and daughter, etc)

Empires (*See Empire Footnote) such as the British Empire, French Empire, and Soviet Union, often leave a distinctive Empire-Essence (*See Empire Footnote) on their underlings to mark them as theirs.

Feeling another nations essence is a very intimate thing. To do so a nation must place their face on a specific place on another nation's neck. Feeling the essence sends the nation Feeling it into a dream-like state, where they see important moments in the other's life, things from their Land (e.g. eucalyptus trees for Australia), and sometimes remnants of their Sire and Dam (see second headcanon) or important nations in their life.

Empire Footnote

Empires are slightly different to normal nations. In addition to their usual Essence, they also produce an Empire-Essence that they use to mark their territory (the nation's under their jurisdiction).

They also have Empire Rage, which is different to normal rage because it makes all other nations in the vicinity - especially those under their jurisdiction - feel immense amounts of fear. If the empire is extraordinarily angry, their Empire Rage can also affect humans, though this is rare.

The Process:

This Secret Santa exchange will be done through drawnames.com, which is a Secret Santa Name Generator. You’ll need your email for this, and you can message me it directly on Tumblr (I’ll gather everyone’s names up, and put them into the generator when it’s time to draw names.)

The due date to sign up is 11:59 PM Nov 29, 2024 PDT (I’d like everyone to have ample time to do their Secret Santa gifts). :)

Most likely, you’ll need to make an account on drawnames.com (you don’t need to, but it’s recommended.  When you get to writing your Wish List on there, under ‘Hobbies and Interests’, make two different lists: One for ‘Fic Requests’, the other for ‘Art Requests’. If a writer draws your name, you’ll have a suggestion for what you want them to write. If an artist draws your name, they’ll have an idea of what to create! (Also, originally, this project only had fanfic and fanart- but if anyone can contribute any other talents, that’d be swell!)

I don't know if anyone has the same headcanon as me: in official Hetalia, Himaruya once confirmed that Alfred, Matthew and Angelique (Seychelles) don't have Arthur's thick eyebrows because of genes inherited from Francis. This makes me think, not only is the liberty-loving personality inherited from Francis, but Alfred's face is actually very similar to Francis's face. Matthew inherited Francis's elegance, and Alfred inherited Francis's nose and mouth, so when he smiled he looked very much like his papa.

Because of the power of genetics, every time Arthur looks at Alfred and Matthew, he will always think of Francis. In the 60s, Arthur and Francis became cold towards each other because of France's conflict with Anglo-Saxon's world, so they did not see each other for a long time. During that time, although Arthur scolded Francis as a "traitor", every time he saw Alfred and Matthew, Arthur would awaken his nostalgia for Francis. And because he saw Alfred and Matthew every day, that nostalgia tormented Arthur every day.

Walter and Roman Headcanons:

Walter:

It is a given that Walter was unhappy about aging in the manga. I like to think it came out in smaller ways. Even if it was only to himself. Sometimes integra pointing out his wrinkles did hurt a tiny bit. Not in a rude way but more a cheeky curiosity kind of way. Of course he'd humor her and say that someday she'll be as old as him but hopefully not as many wrinkles.

I can't help but think he'd be a little salty at his smoking habits when he was younger. Sure he still does have the occasional cigarette but what if all those younger years caused all those wrinkles he really doesn't like. Not that he'd exactly be looking as great as he did in his 30s but a man can dream.

Whenever Arthur Hellsing passed, Walter had to step up as an even bigger father figure than he already was. Sure Walter had already been taking care of her but now he had to help her grow into her position.

I don't think integra would have really have worked until she was much older. By how the roundtable treats her in the manga and how protective Walter is of her, he must have been running Hellsing for her until she was old enough to make decisions for them. Ideally Arthur would have been the one to do that.

Besides work, he would have to answer the questions Integra would have for a parental figure. One of the hardest topics to broach with her was feminine health. Poor girl was far too embarassed. They had a mutually understanding relationship of "don't ask, don't tell" unless she was confident enough to ask. He never wanted to make her uncomfortable. He was always there but there were times where she simply wanted him to ignore it. It wasn't that she was upset about being a woman but rather her being shy. She lost a parent during a very important transitional period in her life. She never even really had a mother for that either.

Walter would do small gestures for her during a hard patch like making her hot chocolate, giving her more leniency on what she had to do during the day, and some new clothes/makeup.

He is a big fan of traveling when he can. He has the rare times he does take off work to fly to Brazil. It has to be one of his favorite spots to vacation. He's become fluent in Portuguese as a result of his many travels there.

Seychelles was on his bucket list for years.

He prefers beans cold from the can. Eats it with a spoon. Don't judge the man because he's already ashamed of it as is. Screw millenium... that could really ruin him.

Roman:

Roman's scar is due to acid being used on him during an interrogation when he was kidnapped by the enemy in Afghanistan. The scar covers half of his face and reaches down to parts of his back, shoulder, and both of his arms from trying to defend himself. Despite being such a flirty guy, he is terribly worried about how scary he must come across to the women he meets. He doesn't know that it makes him all the more loveable.

Roman has a habit of sleeping with prostitutes whenever he travels. As much as he enjoys the action, he often prefers having someone to feel close to. He'll ask about their life, family, plans for the future, etc. It feels good to make that connection even if it is temporary.

He had a taboo relationship with a nun who worked for the Vatican in his mid 20s. They were madly in love and even had planned to run away together. Unfortunately, she ended up being part of a massive accident and died. Roman only found out months later from a superior of his.

The orthodox church pumps their regenerators up with all kinds of drugs to keep them lean, strong, and durable. Roman had developed a really strong resistance to drugs.

Due to his past and situation with the church, he uses drugs and alcohol to temporarily escape what's going on in his life. He's often high on his job too. He has a preference for x and cocaine.

Because of his resistance, he has to consume quite a hit to actually get high. He's overdosed numerous times but being a regenerator, he always gets back up.

He does know that what he does is unhealthy but he's here for a good time and not a long time.

hungary headcanons?💋🌸

Ah, I love Hungary! She's like such an older sister type! I imagine the Hungarian media absolutely loves her in that sense. Although like many female personifications, she is often objectified and used for propaganda/tourism ads. Also, a lot of the foreign media is more focused on her previous marriage with Austria rather than her own history. they just see her has "Austria's ex-wife." In a lot of interviews, the questions are less about historical wars and political moments, but more about Hungarian fashion and recipes.

While Hungary enjoys being feminine and wearing dresses and caring for others, She is uncomfortable with how people diminish her more masculine side. She is very much annoyed with the misogyny she and the other nation women face. She's an outspoken feminist, and has always advocated for the rights of both human and nation women.

On social media, her posts are mostly about Hungarian culture and things her boss makes her post to "display the beauty of Hungary". She's very much has her PR team managing her accounts, but often replies to Prussia's tweets about her and ratios him lmao.

She's most active on her ao3 account. It isn't connected to her by name, but literally everyone knows it's her because of the specific knowledge about personifications. There are a lot of memes about how much yaoi she writes, and there will be pictures of her at international meetings captioned "Ms. Hungary the exact moment she gets inspiration for her GerIta fic." There are also memes about Czechia's one-sided spa rivalry with her.

Also, I headcanon that passport bros see her has a submissive tradwife just because of how prominent her feminine side is, but always embarrass themselves in front of her when she calls them pussies for not knowing how to cook.

All of the bird nations have walked straight into a glass door/window at least once.

Wales can breathe fire.

China can control rain and water.

France calls Britain Chaton.

Britain calls France Cock.

Two of the scars on Lithuania's back are where his wings used to be.

Latvia has gotten in trouble with Russia a few times for forgetting that he's the only one who can fly and putting things up where no one else can reach them.

Most of the nations know how to sew so they can alter their clothes to accommodate their animal features.

Britain has, on occasion, locked eyes with France while eating chicken.

There is at least one video on YouTube titled Nations VS Glass that's just the consequences of the bird nations not being able to see glass.

Romano can say he doesn't care when you say something nice about him, but he can't hide his tail wagging.

It's a good idea to be careful around Veneziano when he's happy/excited unless you want to accidentally be beaten half to death with his tail. Something Germany and Japan found out the hard way.

Just like house cats, the lions will occasionally often knock things off tables/countertops.

Poland likes to call Lithuania Pretty Bird. Lithuania blushes bright red every time.

Spain is a bull. Of course he has a septum piercing.

France owns a laser pointer specifically for messing with Britain.

Romano used to pull Spain's tail whenever he wanted attention.

Britain's brothers pull his tail a lot just to get on his nerves.

ok I know I’m a bit late but

Here are Portugal headcanons because his birthday was yesterday and I am adamant on proving that HE IS NOT JUST LONG HAIRED SPAIN

1) port baby has a bit of a morbid obsession with the ocean. Like he doesn’t just like it, he wants to die by drowning in it. He imagines himself reuniting with the waters he came from, and the slow pain of drowning is oddly beautiful to him.

2) he’s an excellent drinker. After all, he’s a child of Dionysus, and port wine is his thing. He outlasts them all. (But when he’s drunk he’s a melancholic drunk that starts ranting about deep stuff)

3) HIS OCEAN EYES @rosesandalfazemas this one is yours

4) he has self esteem issues. This one actually might be canon. But he’s always reminiscing about his days as an empire and misses his glory days. He thinks he’s a failure and that no one will recognize him anymore.

5) tying into number 4, his worst fear is being forgotten. Already reinforced by miss Seychelles (come on girlie) when she couldn’t tell him apart from Spain.

6) he can sing. Very well.

7) He’s an old soul. He’s got the “grandpa talking about his childhood” energy.

8) his impeccable princess hair. Need I say more?

9) he likes his men tall (and Dutch.)

10) he is short. 5’7/170cm

11) he is scary when he’s angry because you can’t tell if he is. He’ll be laughing to your jokes and secretly planning how to torture you.

12) he’s lived in a lighthouse at some point in his life. He needs the sea to live.

Yeah, they play some super scary stuff, but they do not stick to a specific genre.
