Kira Reed Lorsch is a Emmy nominated actress, television host and Emmy winning producer. After graduating UCLA's School of Theatre Film and Television, she enjoyed a prolific on-camera career including feature films, guest spots on major network shows and a seven-year stint as a reporter for Playboy. Sexcetera. Her work with the bunny led her to hosting and producing for E! and Associated Television International. She also served as writer and Supervising Producer on the travel reality series 69 Sexy Things 2 Do B4U Die. Kira has continued to work in front of the camera as an entertainment reporter for The Daytime Emmy Awards, The Hollywood Christmas Parade and The Hero Dog Awards. She joined the cast of the Emmy nominated The Bay as Jo Connors in 2014 and continues to act and produce in television, digital media and feature films.

Kira Reed Lorsch with The Bay The Series win the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series New Approaches (2015). Kira joined the popular web series in 2014 as Jo Connors and became part of the producing team in 2015. The Bay was previously nominated by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in the Short Format category. Creator Director Gregori J. Martin accepted the award with executive producer Kristos Andrews on behalf of The Bay team April 24th, 2015 at the Creative Arts Emmy ceremony in Universal City.

Kira won two Daytime Emmy awards as a producer on The Bay. She also stars on the Amazon Prime Video show as "Jo Connors" for which she received a 2018 Daytime Emmy acting nomination.

Kira spends her time giving back to numerous charitable organizations, through the Robert H. Lorsch Foundation, including The Thalians: Hollywood For Mental Health raising funds for UCLA Operation Mend. She is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the California Science Center home of the Robert H. Lorsch Family Pavilion.

Asexuals learning about sex

I didn't learn about asexuality until my twenties, so I had about 8 years of assuming I had a sexuality and was just failing to notice. When asked about crushes when I was entering my teens, I said my first crush was Jeremy Sumpter- but it wasn't him I liked, it was the soundtrack of the Peter Pan movie he starred in.

I 'came out' as bisexual to three people when I was 15, because I felt exactly the same looking at pictures of naked women as I did of naked men, and if you were equally attracted to both that meant you were bi, right?

I did a lot of informal research on sex. Articles in women's magazines, reruns of Sexcetera (which was a news show about porn/fetishes), and googling things like advice for masturbation. Which I attempted to follow out of curiosity, once or twice, but got bored of.

Learning about asexuality was a genuine relief, because I could stop waiting for the moment I realised someone was attractive to me.

Looking back, I was an unwitting anthropologist, immersing myself in a culture I wanted to understand but had little reference for. An amateur academic, researching the topic of Sex with the resources available to me.

Roland Loomis (1930 – 2018), known professionally as Fakir Musafar, was a performance artist and early proponent of the modern primitive movement. He has experimented with and taught body modification techniques such as body piercing, tightlacing, scarification, tattooing, and flesh hook suspension. At age four Musafar claimed to have experienced dreams of past lives. He reports having given himself his first body piercing when he was twelve. Based on his viewing of anthropological works he first performed a flesh hook suspension in 1966 or 1967. As an adult he gave himself the name "Fakir Musafar." Musafar has documented his experiences in writing about and teaching others "body play." In the early 1990s, Musafar appeared in mainstream media shows like NBC's Faith Daniels Show, CBS's People Are Talking, CNN's Earth Matters and Discovery Channel's (Beyond Bizarre). In 1998 He produced documentary segments for London Weekend Television's Southbank Show and Playboy Television's "Sexcetera." In 2000, 2001 and 2003 he appeared in documentaries for The Learning Channel (Human Canvas Part I and Part II), TBS, FX Channel and Discovery Channel plus a major appearance in the 2001 documentary film "Modern Tribalism." In 2004 he became a spokesperson for the National Geographic Channel's Taboo and has expressed "radical contemporary" views on body rituals on the Travel Channel's "Eye of the Beholder" series hosted by Serena Yang. Musafar's writing and photography appears in Theater Journal, Bizarre magazine (fetish and SM exploration), Skin Two and PFIQ (Piercing Fan International Quarterly). I’ve arrived home to a major bitch-fight between the boys. They were in full swing arguing about the wedding venue, entertainment, food, theme and shoes. I quickly hid in my room just after I saw the first of three crystal glasses shatter against the hall wall. The assailant was unseen, but I surmise it was Tony as it’s his style of drama; he’s always idolised Sue Ellen from Dallas.

Their fight fizzled out at 1.15 a.m. when Ryan burst into tears. I could hear Tony comforting him, and within minutes I was subjected to their album — most people have a song, but no, they must have a whole bloody album! Even Céline Dion’s powerful lungs couldn’t drown out their stunted make-up sex. I heard every grunt through two pillows and a winter duvet. I don’t pay a fortune in rent to come home to amateur productions of Hollyoaks and Sexcetera!

The world has gone soft.

Banning explicit content on Tumblr, for me, is stripping Tumblr of its identity. Tumblr is like the social media version of the tv show Sexcetera... ‘from the erotic, to the downright bizzare’.

Tumblr is a place for weirdos, odd balls (or whatever you want to label them as) sexually expressive people or anyone in the world for that matter, to express themselves and relax. The internet was there to implement freedom of speech and to connect everyone. Not to repress them, tell them they can’t do something after they’ve being doing it for years. I agree with monitoring and banning explicit material which could cause harm to people, such as child grooming and anything worse than that. THAT should be banned, NOT everyone else, this move kind of supports the far right wing politics we seemed to have somehow managed to bring back to light. #toptrumps
