I can't believe Ink and Intrigue is 300k words! It's actually upwards of 375k words including repeated text (much of which still has to be edited for different situations). I meant to write it much shorter, but I accidentally wrote a whole extra chapter during beta testing and added to all the paths.

Simon “Ghost” Riley:

The fact you think he’d force something on you, especially something sexual, quite literally stops his heart and makes him quite upset. Not at you, but at himself. 

Simon, coming aware of your sexuality, is rather nonchalant about it; it’s something you aren’t interested in and therefore isn’t important. Sure, sex is nice. Especially spending it with someone you adore. But it isn’t the most significant within the ‘relationship’. He can live without it. 

He knows the term asexual means, and quite more of the LGBT+. Simon does ask for more clarification in case, as he may or may not get aromantic and asexual in the same group — but he’s smart enough to diversify the two after learning it more from you/and the internet. 

That being said, Simon will show his appreciation with more physical touch; being touch-starved is quite painful. He loves spending his time after work, or dealing with certain people, with you laying on top of him, and giving you back scratches whilst forehead kisses.

However, he makes it especially clear that he doesn’t want to make you uncomfortable in any way shape or form. Sure, it’s scary to wake up in a different room. But, he’s been in that type of state before, and it’s horrible. 

Within your scared/and uncomfortable state, Simon quite asks permission for everything — if he can touch you, kiss you, or even join you in bed even if you two sleep together.  

König:

König, when finding out you rather fear that you’ll be put into a position where you don’t want to be in, makes him feel incredibly bad. He never intended to make you feel unsafe, even though he’s known as König, he’s a considerably gentle giant with you. 

His first reaction is to comfort you — completely understanding when you reveal your asexuality to him. Though, he’s still a bit dumbfounded; so he resorts to asking questions, or looking up the internet. 

With this said, König really just wants you to be happy. He’s fine with no sex. He’s always appreciated your humor, and personality, and never really thought of sex with you. As long as you’re safe, content, and feel safe with him, he’ll respect your boundaries and settle for a few kisses when he thinks you’re okay with it. 

His affection, of course, skyrockets and gets more clingy; especially after being away from work. He enjoys showering you in many hugs, cuddles, and rather being the little spoon when sleeping.  

König goes all out to show you, despite your asexuality, he still loves you for you. He buys you cliché t-shirts with the flag, and one time bought you the flag; which, of course, shows his support and caring about you. 

Acts of service and physical touch are more often than not. He enjoys making you cups of coffee in the mornings, give you many bear hugs and forehead kisses throughout the day, and making dinner most of the nights he’s home.  

Johnny “Soap” MacTavish:

Johnny feels hurt — not at you, never you. But rather at himself for making you see that type of way of him. He never intended for you to see or feel that, at all. 

However, a bit of a clash is that he might’ve found it early; already knowing it due to his extreme stalking behavior. Cameras and listening devices are easy to install. Since the beginning, he’s cared about your actual personality and as a person, rather than you being sexually active. 

In all, he doesn’t care. As long as he can smother you (affectionately) with his loves, kisses, and many cuddles, he’ll be fine and content. Much like Simon, he can handle a relationship without sex. 

Plus, with Johnny, he finds it more fun within the relationship he’s created to spoil you; coming home with a bunch of gifts he saw in a store. He relishes seeing your face.  

He enjoys joining you in the shower. And while most may see it as sexual, it’s not. Again, physical affection is this man’s way to the heart — he enjoys sitting behind you, kissing your neck affectionately as he asks to wash your hair. 

If you ever feel insecure, he tries his hardest to make you feel heard and seen. He’s happy that he found out, as he never wants to make you uncomfortable. Sure, Johnny’s his sex drive is higher. But with you being asexual, doesn’t make him love you any less.

Hi! I'm aroace, here's my experience (mandatory caveat that no-one's experiences are universal).

I currently have two friends who I Love (platonically). They are extremely important to me, and when I think of my future, they're always there. I have friends who I am just friendly with, but these two are special. For me, if I imagine traditionally romantic gestures (holding hands, kissing, getting married) about my friends, I feel positive and comfortable with the idea. But the second I try to imagine it in a romantic context, I feel awkward and mildly repulsed.

Some aro people are comfortable with doing romantic things in a romantic context, with an understanding with their partner/s that their personal feelings are platonic/not romantic.

Some aro people are extremely uncomfortable with any kind of romantic action and with any kind of romantic feelings, being romance-repulsed, similarly to sex-repulsed asexuals.

Aromantic allosexual people may have sex with their friends, with one night stands, or others, and while some may find sex an inherently romantic gesture, others will feel it is completely detached from romance and be completely comfortable with it.

Queer-platonic relationships (or QPRs) are relationships that fall outside of the platonic/romantic/familial trinary. They are almost impossible to define outside of that, because they vary so greatly between each one. If an aromantic person has a set life partner/s, they may define it as a QPR, and their partner as their queer-platonic partner (QPP), if they want a label besides 'friend', 'boy/girlfriend', and 'partner'.

Importantly, while it is tempting to just switch out romantic relationships/feelings with platonic ones, some aro people are 'loveless' and reject the idea/feelings of love entirely, not just romantic, but platonic and familial as well. I am not actually as well-versed with this idea as I would like to be, but as I've seen it explained, it's just a rejection of the idea of love. For some, it's a protest against the fact that we are often defined by our relationships (you can imagine why an aro person would feel uncomfortable by someone claiming that relationships are necessary to be human), some have it kinda like a trauma response, with having had bad experiences in the past with relationships and choosing to avoid relationships in future. Nothing wrong with either, totally up to the person! @gender-koolaid has some more stuff on lovelessness if you're curious.

Vests

The vest is an iconic lesbian wardrobe staple. For a long time, lesbian fashion has incorporated staples of working-class men's clothing because they are practical and unpolished, which is not typical of women's fashions, and therefore it challenges gender norms. Vests can be formal or casual, they are familiar yet subversive when worn by women, thus making them a lesbian standard.

Frog and Toad

These cottagecore gays are good role models of a loving queer relationship. The first Frog and Toad book was published in 1970. In 1974, the author Arnold Lobel came out as gay to his family. Arnold's daughter has said, “I think ‘Frog and Toad’ really was the beginning of him coming out” because they're “of the same sex and they love each other.” So yes, Frog & Toad are a gay couple.

Cake

In the 1990's and early 2000's, a popular dessert was the Better Than Sex Cake, which was a rich chocolate cake. Well, when you're asexual, the name of that cake hits a little different. In 2004, asexuality.org (AVEN) started using cake as a symbol of asexualness since they believe cake IS better than sex. Asexuals may not have much of an appetite for sex, but that does not mean they have no appetites, thus the popular phrase "I'd rather have cake."

Limp Wrists

Why do we associate a limp wrist with male homosexuality? The ancient Romans viewed limp wrists as effeminate, and the association was further strengthened in the 17th & 18th centuries as one hand with a limp wrist and the other hand placed on the hip in an "I'm a Little Teapot" pose was seen as something men in the royal courts would do, and that sort of leisurely life was considered unmanly. In the modern era queer men have been seen as effeminate, so the limp wrist became associated with them. This association was embraced and reclaimed by queer men, and the wider queer community as a whole.

Unicorns

Unicorns have been used in art since the 4th century BCE and it was the Victorians who firmly linked unicorns with rainbows. In 1978, Gilbert Baker created the rainbow flag as a joyous symbol of the queer community. Given that rainbows and unicorns are so intrinsically linked, it’s unsurprising that the mythical creature started to also be used as a symbol for LGBTQ+ people.

Pansies

“Daisy,” “buttercup,” and especially “pansy,” are flowers which have been used to mean a “flamboyant gay man.” Sometimes the word "pansy" has been positive, sometimes definitely not. In the 1920's & 1930's, the underground clubs of the Prohibition era became a hotspot for queer nightlife with drag queens becoming hugely popular entertainment even among the straight clientelle, and this became known as the "Pansy Craze" in reference to the colorful clothing the performers wore. In 2013, because of the association the pansy has to queer people, a group of people in Atlanta used them to block out hatred by putting cardboard pansies on poles tall enough to block the protesters’ signs, and voila, the Pansy Patrol was born.

Queer Sitting

Improperly sitting is one of many seemingly arbitrary traits (like walking fast and being unable to drive) that the online queer community has claimed as part of queer culture, but it's deeper than it seems. Girls are often taught to sit like a lady, such as keeping their knees pressed together, therefore an act of rebellion can be a woman sitting incorrectly. By not sitting properly, it's a rejection of rules about what we can do with our bodies. In movies & television, for decades censorship codes worked to silence queer voices, and creators developed sophisticated ways of coding queerness through body language, such as the way a character sits. Queer sitting resists the process of assimilation and instead says: do what feels right, do with your body what you would like, not what you are told is proper.

RuPaul's Drag Race

Many of us in the queer community take RuPaul's Drag Race for granted with its 15+ seasons, multiple Emmy wins, spin-offs like All Stars & Secret Celebrity, 15 different international versions, a successful Las Vegas show, and the many memes and catchphrases that have come from the show. It’s easy to forget in the 2000's things were very different. There were gay characters on TV and reality shows like Survivor had openly gay contestants, but until RuPaul’s Drag Race premiered in 2009 there wasn’t a truly successful series made by queer creators, starring queer cast members, and made specifically for a queer audience.

RuPaul's Drag Race brought drag performance to a large audience and presents topics traditionally considered taboo on television, such as that it's okay to not conform to societal expectations around gender and sexuality. The show has spread awareness and acceptance as it provides positive representation of queer people and humanizes us as it showcases the struggles of gay, lesbian, gender-nonconforming and transgender people and as the contestants tell stories of coming out, being affected by HIV/AIDS, being rejected by their families and attacked in the streets.

Quiche

in Anglo-American culture, French cuisine is not viewed as "manly" food, which is the first mark against quiche. During the 1970s, quiche was served at brunch spots frequented by gay men which led to it being seen as a quintessentially queer dish, another mark against this food. Quiche became seen as so effeminate that a 1982 best-selling book satirizing masculine stereotypes was titled Real Men Don't Eat Quiche. Instead of the French name "quiche," if it had been called "scrambled egg pie" it likely wouldn't be considered a food for women and the gays, which just goes to show how lame it is to think of food as gendered in some way, but as long as they keep serving it for brunch, we'll keep eating it

Tumblr

Tumblr is known as "queerest place on the internet" and as a platform that "queer[ed] an entire generation." According to Tumblr, the people who use its site are 193% more likely to be LGBTQ compared to those on TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Reddit, Twitter, and Pinterest. Tumblr estimates that 1 in 4 of its users identifies as LGBTQ. An important reason for this is that Tumblr does not require identity cues to be featured, such age, gender, location, relationship status or legal name, which allows users control over their self-presentation and makes it far less likely family and friends may discover their Tumblr account. This privacy allows queer people on Tumblr to feel more comfortable exploring and expressing their queerness.

Tumblr has been a place of important contributions to queer culture. One example is the large number of queer Pride flags which were first introduced and adopted on Tumblr:

No, I only want cuddles now that I think of It, I want him to only cuddle me... Or do I? Wait a minute hold on... I do want romance though! But I don't feel the romance right now... Wait I do! Wait I... Don't? Nah nah I do feel romance right NOW, but do I have to buy him bouquets? I hope he understands that I really don't want sex today and tomorrow (maybe the whole week), I'm kinda scared of doing stuff like that with someone else now... Or am I, wait, Is the want for sex back up? Yep it is, lucky me, one less turbulence to deal with! There's too much turbulence anyway though, what the fuck...

Here, Imagine this bullshit in my brain and body throughout the day. I could feel attraction one hour and feel completely different for two hours after that and then go back to feeling it. Below are the specifics of my experience, if anyone cares...

I fluctuate between feeling romantic attraction and not doing so. When I don't feel It, though, I remain romance neutral or favorable, mostly the latter, and I use my platonic attraction to fuel the bond. That means that I should likely end up in a relationship with someone that fluctuates like me, or someone who wants to be my best friend and romantic partner interchangeably. When I feel romantic attraction, being polykin I prefer to express it with animalistic behaviours like rubbing/bumping foreheads together, bumping my head on someone's shoulder, "laughing" like an excited fox and stuff, which can cause disconnect (in a "would anyone actually want a freak like me" scenario). I also want to express myself like this with friends, but in a romantic relationship I would also feel like kissing the person.

My romantic fluctuations are more frequent than the sexual ones. I don't feel sexual attraction often, and I feel romantic attraction often.

I fluctuate between feeling sexual attraction and not doing so. I don't feel sexual attraction most of the time. When I don't feel It, I am either sex positive or something I like to call "real life sex repulsed", because I still can consume sexual content even while repulsed, given that I am alone; if it manifests itself, my repulsion only concerns actual real life sex with another person, or watching R rated stuff with someone close to me. I can also get animalistic when I feel sexual attraction, the behaviours are similar to the romantic/platonic ones but have more intensity; rubbing against a body with my whole body is another sexual behaviour, to which sounds are added. I feel like kissing the person in a lot of places, and even biting them and nibbling soflty. However these urges are muted when my sexual attraction Is absent.

To wrap things up, the "fluctuation" of sexual attraction manifests itself as a spike in sexual attraction and then prolonged periods of abscence of sexual attraction, in which I am moslty sex positive.

I often feel fearful of being a "fake" asexual and aromantic person, but It Is clear to me that I don't experience attraction the same way that alloaro peeps do. When I see an aesthetically pleasing person I feel strong platonic and sensual attraction, sometimes romantic, but never sexual; sexual attraction CAN happen if I have spoken more with the person, but it still fluctuates even then, which is why I don't use the demisexual and demiromantic labels.

It doesn't help that I have a high libido, and that when my sexual attraction is absent, which is very very often, I feel sex favourable a lot of the time and not sex repulsed; sex repulsion is as rare as sexual attraction in me. I am also kinky, I would like a d/s relationship one day with me being the sub.

I feel like I don't fit with alloaro people because if I were in a relationship with one, maybe they could feel inadequate because I don't feel sexual attraction for them, even though I would be willing to have sex anyway because sex looks fun and I like the idea a lot; and even if they accept that, what would happen if I entered a sex repulsed phase at one point of being together? I am scared that finding an alloaro partner physically pleasing and trusting them more than anyone else may not be enough for them. Also my fox behaviours are something that I have been taught are improper, and beastly (derogative), I feel dirty for them (my fox soul cries rn).

On the other hand I often hear aroace people speaking of being sex repulsed and sex neutral, romance repulsed and romance neutral, of not wanting a romantic and/or sexual relationship, and I feel exluded and fake because that is not how I feel most of the time. I am afraid that I am not aroace, actually.

At this point I would simply like to be in a relationship with a very affectionate aroace person on the greyaromantic or greysexual spectrum, but is it wrong of me to want that? Should I also add cupioromantic and cupiosexual to my identity, to avoid misconceptions?

I feel hopeless, like I'll never find someone that can love me as much as I love them. Someone to cuddle with, someone to kiss, someone to rub against and play with. Someone to be my companion.

IMPORTANT BIOLOGICAL FACTS: Mellanoid Slime Worms are composed of a single amorphous cell which can shapeshift into any number of revolting forms, but which do seem to be willing to take on a bipedal appearance when dealing with aliens. Mellanoid Slimes have no sex, no gender, and reproduce asexually. Not much is known about Mellanoids. Their biology, evolution, and habitat are still a mystery.

Guz, responding to "revolting forms": Wait what? We've always been mostly humanoid! And nonhumanoid forms aren't revolting! They're beautiful! Some of my best friends have nonstandard features. Mariner: no sex? Sick burn. Guz, responding to "no gender": I am a woman. Mellanoids are assigned agender at birth but a growing movement is recognizing that some of us do experience gender. Tendi, responding to the whole section: Mellanoid Slime Worms are comprised mostly of visceral slime with a gelatin skeleton made of skeletal gelatin. Their nervous system is highly redundant and spread throughout the body, with slightly darker regions corresponding to regions of higher nerve density. All sensory cells can feel all senses, so they experience touch, taste, sight, sound, and other senses in their whole bodies, but form sensory organs to concentrate those senses. The biomolecular composition is. Mariner: ok Ada Lovelace, we don't need the footnote to be THAT big. CULTURE: The Mellanoid Slime Worms posses a highly repressed culture, lacking entertainment, interpersonal interactions, and with individuals living in even the richest and most technologically advanced nations on their planet being confined to abject poverty. Their technology is rudimentary, with steam propulsion still in common use on land, and their spaceflight manifests as small capsules incapable of even safely making the journey to the nearest gas giant without assistance. Due to their revolting appearance and archaic technology, they are not worthy of further consideration.

Guz: We don't live in poverty! We just have movie theaters instead of televisions, public kitchens instead of restaurants and dining rooms, libraries instead of personal computers. And Advanced Steam locomotives are cool, ok! They were cheaper to run than diesel engines for many years. Guz: Don't even get me STARTED on the rockets of the time. Oh globs, the things we were able to do with only chemical rockets back in the 30s and 40s! Probe missions to Glerbuh and Rabbit, crewed missions to Omen and Oldsky... and that's before the latest warp drive prototypes. When I was in the astronaut corps, they were working on a warp-2 drive! And that's transwarp-2, so that's like 26% faster than the NX-Beta. Mellanoids pride ourselves in our space exploration, which is why even now we're in the Federation we still have our own space program.

Boimler: Huh. That's it? I thought there'd be more, you know, like, something about the history, maybe native animals, why the taboos are the way they are. But it's just something about steam trains and rocket ships? Guz: No actually I think they pretty much hit the stem bolt on the autoseal. I can't think of a reason a new recruit would need to know more about my species. Besides, Tendi's medical research is pretty thorough. Mariner: Hey I just tried to access the research. Why is it flagged as "Age-Locked"? What kind of "research" are you two doing anyway? Guz: Ohhhh... oh no. Tendi: Ok we can stop talking about this now! Boimler: Eh it's probably fine. I mean, why would a minor using a starfleet database need to know critical biological details about a mellanoid slime worm? What, is some, I dunno, Brikar kid gonna stroll up to Starfleet with a slime worm baby and not know how to take care of it? Mariner: Hah! A big stony alien kid taking care of a gooey lil worm? Like that'll ever happen.

people calling ten "the romantic and/or sexual doctor" are fascinating, because they're looking at the fact that the writing puts that doctor into positions where others project their attraction onto him, and he reacts on some scale from this may as well happen to shrug to bemusement to shock to open disinterest... and that interaction with the doctor-as-portrayed-by-david-tennant is quite meta, because people agree that david tennant as the doctor is quite attractive in a Certain Way

and thinking he's hot means that he is alloromantic/allosexual, and that is proven by the fact that the text has other characters who flirt with/kiss him, but then they also say that because he's hot = alloromantic/allosexual his interactions with others (most notably rose and martha) are less interesting, because this is limiting how the doctor feels about people in the text, without actually interacting with what the text is doing with the doctor's relationship to these things -- which, see above

whereas a bunch of aroace people are like "ten is peak aroace experience and has the interactions to prove it," because like yeah, people don't hit on peter capaldi's doctor in that way really (they're wrong), but that's just because you-the-viewer (who is wrong) don't think capaldi is hot in That way (you're wrong), and the writing isn't trying to appeal to the Idea that he's hot (and it is wrong) (but I digress) (clara's and twelve's whole thing is not read in this way specifically because of capaldi's age, which is interesting because the character of the doctor has been old by human standards the whole time, I Digress)

ten's interactions are very interesting, because for the most part the character of the doctor has been read as asexual because "alien," and not aroace so much in feel, (I mean, I think in feel, but the writing in classic!who was mainly just doing it that way because the BBC didn't want S E X on the show and it ended up becoming a big facet of the character as absorbed by show nerds who don't like things to change). ten actually interacts with romantic and sexual interest (and so does eleven, but not so longterm), and pretending that aromantic and asexual people don't do that is... inaccurate. saying that ten is more alloromantic/allosexual because of those interactions and then using the words "asexual doctor" to describe how the doctor ought to be instead is just using words incorrectly -- it sounds like when they say "asexual doctor," what they mean is that the doctor should somehow be completely unaware of/removed from these concepts, and all hints at sex or romance happen around but never in the doctor's direction. the doctor as pure, not just in their own feelings, but in the feelings other characters have towards them

basically, "my aroace doctor is not the same as your so-called "asexual" doctor"

Experience: Been on and off RPing since I was able to type on a PC, so a bit over 20+ years ranging from chatrooms to paragraph forums to MMOs to Discord to Tumblr and even some VR thrown in there. Though I’ve helped run a lot of writing groups, I led one for several years that I retired from which was aimed at helping newer RPers learn the ropes based out of an MMO. My reasoning for retiring was simply a lot of pressure as it was around 500+ members at the time and my interest in the MMO was dying out. Though I’ve recently returned to Tumblr, before the nsfw purge I ran fanfiction and headcanon blogs for various fandoms and some light RPing. So I have a lot of scattered experience in fandoms and OC works.

Preferred roleplay type: I’m very flexible honestly as I’ll mirror who I’m vibing with whether it be just dialogue back and forth or paragraphs or even novellas! I don’t mind mixing up genres either as they are welcome to respond to me at their preferred type even if I’m not matching though I’ll often try to match to not pressure them.

Pet peeves & dealbreakers: Honestly, after leading a group of teaching beginners in writing there is not a lot that bothers me. I think a pet peeve I could say that really irks me is metagaming in the sense of not letting me play my character at all and basically writing out all my character’s actions for me unless discussed upon ooc for that scene.

Deal breakers for me are pretty common ones found in roleplaying. I will not tolerate someone claiming exclusivity over me as an RP partner and not allowing me to RP with others. I also tend to play combative or villain characters so someone forcing me to change them just so they can interact is really not something I can do with the exception of censoring certain topics or content for the sake of ooc comfort!

Loose example: I will not make my character nicer just so you can bang them (this one comes from the experience of being asked this more than once in past experiences before Alkas). Gotta earn that development if you want it. Otherwise, I’m all for toxic dynamics and bad endings.~

Other than that, making sure there’s a clear line between IC and OOC is a must. I am not my character and I will dip into themes I do not always see as okay morally.

Best time to write: I work as a 24/7 in-home caregiver, so honestly anytime is good for me. I have to occasionally leave my PC unexpectedly as I’m always on call and I also am awake at odd hours that shift everyday, so I cannot predict a schedule.

Are you like your muse? Personality wise? Heck no, Alkas is almost my polar opposite which is partially the intention. She’s very rude and abrasive and combative to the point she’s unreasonable and aggressively insecure. I think I would cry if I ever acted like she does to another person.

Of course, there are some parts of myself I have in her personality like we’re both Aromantic (though she’s Hypersexual on top of that and I’m Asexual (sex-positive). We both tend to be really awkward when it comes to actual friendships and keeping up with them, too. I also did put her living life close to mine since it was a RL reference just to make it easier on myself in her birthplace and ethnicity. Though I don’t know a lot about motorcycles, I certainly am going to be getting one soon and of course, I love greasers.

Physical wise? I shamefully admit her human form (and body type) is greatly based on myself. You never see it though, so it’s fineee.

For my imp, she's the gremlin that lives in my head based on intrusive and impulsive thoughts. For Rosie, I just try to stick to canon, so kinda in the kind motherly vibe cause people sometimes say I'm like that I guess?

There ARE valid arguments to be made about "playersexuality," especially if a character is written/heavily implied to be gay/lesbian but given a straight romance. That specfic scenario isn't something I'll get into in depth right now to make this as brief as possible, but "it's ridiculous that every character is bisexual" is NOT one of those arguments. I saw it for Dragon Age 2, and I am annoyed but not surprised to see it for Baldur's Gate 3.

This will feature reclaimed use of the word queer. Tagged below, but thought it might be good to mention.

Dragon Age as a franchise is significantly less committed to queerness than BG3. Thedas was built, intentionally or otherwise, to be heteronormative and gender conforming. To a lesser extent than real life, in that same-sex attraction in Thedas is generally considered unremarkable, but oppression and othering of queer people in-universe DOES exist and it isn't hard to find. (The biggest examples: Dorian's experiences in the upper-class Imperium, the framing of Krem's trans-ness as uncommon or atypical). And DESPITE that, the bisexuality of DA2's main cast does not feel forced or ingenuine to me. The party doesn't remark on or make political statements about each other's sexuality. Sexuality is, at least to this group of people, entirely apolitical, and they all just happen to be a similar sort of queer.

PLEASE consider, then, a world built entirely void of the widespread social culture surrounding sexuality, as Baldur's Gate 3 has tried to create. Where bi or pansexuality is the "common" or "expected" orientation, or more appropriately, where the concept of orientation is absent entirely. This person just cares about personality in who they date, this one doesn't really want to date anybody, this one wants to be in a polycule, and those are all completely neutral positions to hold and inconsequential to their greater character as an individual.

In this world you could easily pluck a half dozen or so random people out from the millions and find that they all desire sex and/or intimacy with any gender equally. If there's no erasure of queerness, it follows that open queerness is more abundant. Sexuality is fluid and various as gender is fluid and various and neither are reflections of someone's personality or morals. Being gay doesn't make you effeminate because there's no preconceived notion that straightness is manly, etc etc.

That's all true in the real world of course, but the difference is that it feels like Larian has tried to craft their narrative around it being the cultural norm. YOU might think it'd be ridiculous for a half dozen random people to be bisexual, if you haven't spent the time in queer spaces to learn that there are gay people everywhere. Even if you have, and there are more queer people in your life than straight ones, you might think it'd be unlikely to pick 6-8ish random people on Earth and find that they're all specifically bi or pansexual. You may even be right, because all over the world there are restrictive dominating cultural narratives that alienate, suppress, and persecute queerness. BG3 doesn't take place on Earth, though, does it? So sit down and think about it for a minute, please.

Of course there'd still be variation. You'd find people that fit the definition of straight or gay or asexual, but there's no expectation of straightness. Sexuality simply is. If you're interested in somebody, either they're interested back or they're not. You find out, you move on. Githyanki even reproduce asexually, so they don't have any flimsy biological reason for straightness, though if you're resorting to "biology" to debate sexuality, you're too far down the pipeline to have read this far anyway. Lae'zel wants a warrior, not a man. You might happen to be both, but it's not your gender she's lusting over.

Also, bisexual men deserve to exist freely without you policing exactly how gay or straight they get to "act." And you aren't somehow less biphobic for invalidating them just because you yourself are gay, so don't think that absolves you. Yes this is about Astarion. He's a bit more overtly queer-coded than Gale or Wyll. He's not gay. Bisexual men are evidently only valid to you if they "act straight." Fuck off.

Gay people exist! Let's put that lukewarm take to rest now, please. If gay people live in a culture that allows them to exist, they exist in much greater abundance. Who would've thought? Left-handedness over time graph my love. The single greatest refutation to Straight People Whining.

Look, you can just say that you're jealous you aren't in an all-bisexual friend group. It's okay. All-bisexual friend groups are awesome.
