“How did you know where I was?” James asked as Regulus grabbed his arm and walked him towards the exit of the bar. 

“Doesn’t matter. Did you drive here?” 

James flashed his keys and Regulus snapped it out of his hand. “You’re unbelievable,” he mumbled.

“Look at you still caring for me.” A grin spread across James’ face.

“Fuck off,” Regulus grunted, opening the car door for James and slamming it. 

“I thought you were on a date.” 

“Put your seatbelt on,” Regulus commanded. 

James wasn’t drunk, he could perfectly drive himself home. But he wanted Regulus, he needed him. He was greedy, didn’t care if they were together or not, he couldn’t bear the thought of anyone close enough to know what Regulus smelled like, what he felt like. He would embarrass himself every single weekend if it meant having Regulus to himself again. Even like this.

“You didn’t answer my question.” 

“Are you keeping tabs on me?” Regulus sounded angry, but James couldn’t tell if it was directed at him or at himself. 

“You are the one who knew exactly where I was, Reg.”

Regulus took a deep breath and paused for a moment, he threw his head back and turned to see James. 

“Your seatbelt, James.”

“Look at you actually caring for me.”

Regulus brushed his fingers through his messy hair. “Jamie, dearest, could you please do as I say.” James didn’t care that Regulus was clearly just fucking with him, he longed for his touch. 

“I always loved it when you told me what to do,” he said, trying to match Regulus’ mocking tone.

“I remember.” He removed his hand and James desperately wanted it back. 

Regulus started the car and fixed his gaze on the road, both of his hands on the wheel as if he couldn’t stand to look at James. He didn’t even bother to turn the radio on, their silence was loud enough. 

“Tell me about your date.” Judging by the fact that Regulus bailed to pick him up, it must not have gone well. James wanted Regulus to be happy, he really did, just not with anyone else. 

It wasn’t healthy, taunting each other, both of them doing dumb shit hoping the other will rescue them. They had been taking turns playing damsel in the stress for the past few months and it was James' turn tonight. They knew. 

“He’s shit at giving head.”

“Oh really?” James adjusted himself in his seat and turned and turned to look at Regulus. This was the closest thing to admission he would get, so he had to run with it. 

“Yes.”

“He couldn’t get you off?” That was not what he was actually asking, Regulus knew that too. 

“No.”

James tentatively placed his hand on Regulus’ knee and waited for an objection. Nothing. “Is it building up, baby?”

“Don’t call me that.” Regulus snapped at him but didn’t comment on James’ hand that was slowly moving up. 

James could get drunk just by looking at Regulus, seeing his tight grip on the wheel, the bulge on his pants growing, and feeling the heat of his skin even through jeans. He was so entranced by it he didn’t notice the moment they stopped moving. 

They were already in front of James’ home. Regulus remained silent as he got out of the car, James followed him with his gaze, before he could even open his own door Regulus was there doing it for him. After all this time, he always did. 

They stood there in front of each other, Regulus couldn’t meet his eye, his gaze fixed on James’ lips. He never asked, he didn’t have to, James would give himself to Regulus every time, willingly, devotedly. 

James lifted his hand to finally touch Regulus, his thumb gently brushing Regulus’ cheek. “Did you let him kiss you?” Anger and hurt tinged his tone. 

“You know I didn’t.”

“I can’t keep doing this.” It was true, it was wrong, it was hurting them both. But he couldn’t stop himself, he wrapped his arm around Regulus’ waist and pulled him closer. 

“I'll leave then.” 

“Don’t you fucking dare, Regulus.” 

It all happened in a blur, their bodies pressed against the car, lips clashing and tongues asking for more. James’ hands traced the familiar path from Regulus’ waist to his zipper, he revealed on the sounds that the first touch always got out of Regulus. 

His cock twitched as Regulus' teeth attached to his neck, then his shoulder. He was marking him, a reminder they both allowed. No one could have them like this.
