episode 6 of sex education has just fucked me up soooo badly - specifically the whole funeral sequence.

it’s so refreshing to see addicts as complex misunderstood characters who are also generous rather than straight up villains. i felt so bad for sean cuz i get how loved ones with addiction can seriously affect people, and it’s good that the creators put a character like him in the show to communicate that. i really liked how erin was portrayed in the show: complex but kind and caring and also horrible at times, but never a horrible person, and maeve understood that, and it’s clearer in the speech that she gave. the episode amazingly visualised the complexity of addiction and i fucking love the creators for portraying maeve, sean and erin as they did.

(couldn’t find a recent gif of maeve but she’s so amazing. i get why she loves complex female characters)

idek how to describe this genre of character but yk the ditzy, airy girls who are actually super smart and also super autistic? the sapphic ones with intimidating best friends who they’re definitely a little in love with, who act as their bodyguards bc they’re just little fairy girlies who’re living in their own worlds? the ones who are a mix of “lacy” by olivia rodrigo, mxmtoon’s revisited album, and “mirrorball” by taylor swift? the girlies who def need therapy but they’re baking or painting or hanging out with random animals? yeah those ones. i love them.

If so here’s my request: y/n is a new transfer student and has a class with ruby and it was y/n who started their rival/hate for each other on accident. Then as time went on they began to get closer slowly, then at a party y/n drunkly confesses to ruby how much she likes her then ruby says she feels the same but then ruby is too afraid to go public, so y/n agrees to be a secret (you could add smut after if you want up to you!) As time goes on y/n starts to get annoyed because ruby in public starts to treat her crap and acts as if they’re still enemies. So y/n got fed up and confronted Ruby about it in front of the untouchables which Ruby tries to deny everything which leads to y/n saying they’re over and leaves. To which leads to y/n not going to school for a while which worries ruby, so then ruby goes to her house and finds out that y/n moved (for whatever family or financial reason) which causes her to breakdown and stuff. Then after weeks of trying to find y/n she does and then ruby explains why she did what she did then the fluff happens then the end

Being in a relationship with Ruby came as a shock to you. At school in front of others, she was mean and spiteful, but when it was just you two...it was different.

Cuddling and kissing was quite frequent, whereas in front of her friends, you were both pretending to hate each other.

But you were getting tired of pretending.

You approached Ruby with confidence, deciding that today you would confront her.

"Ruby."

All three of them turned to look at you, Ruby looking slightly surprised and Olivia and Anwar clearly not trying to hide their disgust.

"What do you want?" Ruby replied brazenly.

"I want to talk." You said as you adjusted the strap of your backpack.

Olivia and Anwar looked at Ruby expectantly.

"About what?"

You rolled your eyes, why was she being so difficult? "You know what. And I'd personally like to do this in private."

"Whatever you have to say, you can say it here." She motioned to her two friends, then crossed her arms.

To say you were angry was an understatement.

"Fine." You stepped closer. "Me and Ruby have been in a relationship for exactly four months, since Otis Milburn's surprisingly alright party, when she took me into a closet and fucked me like she meant it. And I don't want it to be a secret anymore."

You reveled in the sight of Anwar and Olivia's appalled expressions, until your gaze fell on Ruby, who looked crushed. You felt slightly guilty but then you realised she deserved it.

"And now it's over between us."

After such a long break in having time to paint, I finally sat down and scribbled something to comfort my work breakdowns. With company from my bestie @nocturnal-cryptid I focused all of my stress and emotion into this painting of someone who brings me so much comfort. I chose this shot because the warmth and kindness he oozes just makes me want to wrap my arms around him. He seems so genuinely kind and sweet and beautiful here that I wanted to try and capture it in a scribble. I'm very proud of this one and hope that Jim sees it on twitter ;)

I rlly feel the ending of sex education is so lukewarm and I have so many thoughts on it BUT a big criticism I have is with Jackson’s storyline about his queerness!

Now I KNOW his story wasn’t supposed to be about only his queerness and that shouldn’t have been the sole-focus of his story BUT I THINK IT SHOULD’VE BEEN A BIGGER PART OF HIS STORYLINE IN THE LAST SEASON ESPECIALLY WITH IT BEING UNRESOLVED IN SEASON 3! I felt like it was SO important to him as a character bc in season 4 he still really likes Cal and I know he has his cancer scare but I think it would’ve been beautiful if he realized he wants to talk to Cal about shit happening in his life and not just to Viv especially with Viv moving away from him a bit due to her abusive relationship! I feel like we got the development without being shown it, like he says he still likes Cal and that they are essentially still rlly important to him but that’s it and I wish we would’ve seen that realization since a part of his story is his struggle with queerness and accepting that he might actually be queer! And I didn’t need a sad realization of “holy fuck I rlly am not straight” but just some character arc with an explanation!
