Given that Belphegor, the sin of sloth, is making(or at least approving the making of) Stolas' prescribed brand of antidepressants I'm disappointed that they just seem like regular meds. Like since a sin is approving this stuff, it could've resulted in medications that fuck you up instead of really treating the actual issue.

Maybe antidepressants that treat depression by either killing your emotions completely so you have no strong feelings on anything(sort of like a temporary lobotomy) or sedating you so hard you could have surgery done on you and not notice. Since it's hell you could get away with medications not really working the way they should to make the world feel more alien. Instead it's regular, apparently perfectly functional, antidepressants that just so happen to have the stamp of the approval of a deadly sin. It fits with the sloth ring's general medical theme,but that's the best thing the little antidepressant label nod to Belphegor has going for it for me.

Then again,the incorporation of sins into the feel of the rings and what those rings do has never felt particularly strong. Despite being leaders, it feels like they could disappear tomorrow and their absence wouldn't do much.

Like what would happen to the lust ring if Asmodeus pulled a Lucifer and just stopped ruling for a bit? The residents would probably keep going just the same. It doesn't feel like the lust ring is the way it is because of Asmodeus. It feels like it just so happens to contain Asmodeus,y'know?

Admittedly in the grand scheme of things,this isn't a big deal at all. There are much weirder writing choices that could dwarf this teensy tiny detail easily. I just find it boring how when there's an opportunity to shift away from hell being like a generic U.S.-esque setting with a red coat of paint to something more fantastical and alien, it just commits to being our world with a red coat of paint

#hb critical #like what's the point of it being hell if their cultures align with human culture so much they're functionally humans with magic powers #what's the point of seven deadly sin representations that don't take their sins to ridiculous extremes #if the pills still had something on the label implying they were produced by somebody in the sloth ring #but not that the person was A DEADLY SIN that'd be one thing #but they slap the sin of sloth's name onto the meds. what is belphegor gaining from making antidepressants #what does it even add to belphegor thematically that she's tied to the medical industry as a whole in hell?#it seems like it'd make more sense to tie mammon to medicine and have him charging super high prices for good meds and care #while everybody else gets sold cheap ineffective shit that just barely helps at all #and idk maybe belphegor could be super tech obsessed instead. like she's the type who backs producing stuff like smart toasters #back to hell not feeling differentiated enough from earth #it makes sense that sinner societies would parallel real world society so hard but it makes little sense for the hellborn #especially ones who mainly live outside of pride ring and thus have little exposure to sinners because viv said sinners can't leave pride #If viv ever decides to drop that bit of worldbuilding from canon then I'll drop that last complaint cause it'll be irrelevant #But as long as it's canon and relevant to my points it's free game for me to keep mentioning how stupid that is

#the worst is when it promises you'll feel better and then you simply. do not. you feel worse and then you want to harm again bc surely that #will make you feel better right? THAT WOULD BE A NO. IT DOES NOT.#anyway today i went to spotlight cause i was sad cause i got the result for my 35% assignment i really struggled with. 32.5%. failure.#and at spotlight i made the foolish error of buying without knowing price. but like who makes a book a normal softcover crochet pattern boo #$55?! anyway it's a lovely book and am excited to try a few of teh patterns but the guilt is eating me alive #and also im super stressed about the assignment i have to turn in on thursday and haven't started #anyway i was literally four and a half hours away from being seven days clean #and i am just so sad right now #and i reopened one of the scars on my wrist too while on shift this morning so that's fun #not badly but it's just gonna mean it scars even more isn't it because of course #i was feeling incredibly awful for some reason i can't even remember and i kinda clawed up my arms. and no i don't count that as #breaking my streak bc it didn't cause much damage #i just. placement is so wonderful but life is so so hard #i don't know i want a hug and the assignment done and everything bad unmade #and the scars i have to look at every day on placement gone.#i want to talk to s but i haven't responded to her last message and i don't know how to respond but i need to respond to that #:((#honestly actually i think i want to talk to aunty. friend's mum. in person. and get a hug. i want a hug.#im just. I just looked at the price on the back of a book I’ve had for a bit over a decade and it was four. fucking. dollars. Just four with no taxes. No extra 97cents or something before taxes. Just a round number that you would add taxes to.

I googled the price of a new edition and it was almost thirteen! Not an even thirteen, it was like 12.96 or something. Close enough that it’s basically thirteen but if you’re adding multiple items together to try and get the price on a purchase with more items it would add more confusion.

#emma posts #it was also a bit difficult to find a new copy on my phone #the edition I have was selling for wildly varying prices as a vintage book now #but that’s just a kids chapter book from a fairly large publisher #I know inflation happens and stuff but holy shit #buying things at the book fair makes so much more sense now #I bought that for 4$ plus taxes at the schoolastic book fair #it was maybe 12 years ago?#I could look at the publishing date for a better idea #the series had just switched publishers and the first few were being re-released at the time #before the new publisher and the author finished the series #four dollars though #I had to check the book because I know the current price of many paperbacks and I knew that series was still in print #but what lead to this was the price tag falling off an old brush I found from like. 2009 or 2010 #and the tag on this very large brush was seven dollars #which seemed cheap so I looked at current brush prices online but since the exact same brush isn’t being sold and brush prices vary more #it was a bit harder for me to get an idea of it. books though. books I know #I’ve even bought stuff from that publisher recently (they have a lot of novel and comic translations)#but it also struck me how the old price tag was an even four and an even seven dollars but all new ones had 97 or 98 cents #that ten dollars from helping out grandma wouldn’t have even gotten me one book with modern prices #but back then I could get TWO #even just seven could have gotten me a book and some fun school supplies back then #to have that experience now you would need to give your kid a 20$#I understand inflation okay? I am just taken off guard rn and having realizations #I’m going to add to this post again. when I say wildly varied vintage prices I mean WILDLY varied #one dude was trying to sell it on Amazon for 55$ but on eBay it was 4 to 5$#I bought the next three books in the series from that same print. signed. for 13$ together #I had older editions of those and wanted a full series of just the ones that were being re-released during my reading time

im at the part of the unemployment/health chores where i am continually (politely!) harassing four different entities. why isn’t my shit done. why did you lose it. hello are you alive

#why aren’t my medical records transferred over. why aren’t my taxes done #why isn’t my unemployment here yet. why aren’t my OTHER medical records transferred yet #i bought new health insurance through the marketplace 🙃 expensive. i want to throw up. and changing all THAT over has been a nightmare #and i see a new primary care on fri morning #and i will need no fewer than seven referrals #i am betting on a six to nine waiting list for all of them which is why i feel ok doing it now whilst unemployed #and i need to. NEED to go to the dentist for them to give me a list of everything that’s wrong so i can take it to the dental college #and hopefully get better prices. but god almighty #still no unemployment money btw 🙃 im covered for rent for next month but a credit card is going to be late and i think at least one thing #will be overdrafted #and i still have not had a single response from any job or a single interview #and my cats still hate each other #and my beans have some sort of mosaic virus #truly so so so many trials and tribulations #this past year (last March to this March) has been the scariest and worst financial time of my Life and it’s not even over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#not feeling very adult and self sufficient and on top of it!!!!!

Happy(ish) end of 2023 ppl!

Tbh a lot of shit happened I didn’t rlly expect this year, for better or for worse, but at least it’s been memorable. I got into rw (and tumblr in the process 👀), and improved my art skills much more than anticipated, which I was not at all expecting :D Unfortunately I don’t have one of those piece-for-each-month things nor do I have enough pieces I deem decent enough to be on for each month over here, so instead I did the next best thing and put together 12 pieces from the past little while I quite enjoy/enjoyed making! Ready? Here we go!

the most devastating shit on earth is that i had a friend in middle school who was like my ride or die. but her only "social media" was Google Fucking Plus. so naturally i have lost her in the wastelands of that shitstorm. but i cannot find her ever again bc she has like The most common name on god's green earth so one facebook search for people with her name in the bronx yields like a million fucking results. so imagine if she's not even in the bronx anymore. 10 million results

since the uptick in AAA game prices is such a hot topic rn my lukewarm take is that the PS4/5 to PC ports also shouldn't cost sixty fucking bucks since most of them are four to five years old, and TLoU is TEN years old

i finally sold my old tablet that i didnt use anymore and got 85€ for it so guess who has money to get armored core now. hehe

#yes yes i know what ive said about fromsoft games in the past but listen #i eventually settled into trying out sekiro and it was instant love it just clicked for me and i was honestly having the time of my life #until i got to ashina castle and my pc #that doesnt have working gpu drivers cause windows decided to install the generic ones over my good amd ones (i cant fix it ive tried)#just couldnt handle the new area or something idk #i started getting massive frame drops that made the game almost unplayable #and then the controller i use on my pc got a Lot of drift literally overnight #so yeah trying to do the genichiro fight with an average of 20 fps and stick drift wasnt fun at all #i did do the miniboss thats on the well from the start of the game and a few attemps on the seven spears guy #but at that point the drift was just too bad and i had tried a new fix for the drivers thing #and when i attempted genichiro again the game just crashed #so yeah #i Could play sekiro on the xbox but im not paying for a 4 year old game that got its price hiked #and runs at 900p and 30 fps on a new gen console cause the developers refuse to patch it <3 #ill pirate again once i get a new pc sometime next year #Anyways all of this was to say i do sort of get fromsoft games now and ac looks fucking incredible #and it has a pause screen just like sekiro which is a must for me cause i enjoy being able to go pee without having to hide first
