↻ᴹᵉˢˢᵃᵍᵉ ˡᵒᵃᵈᵉᵈ ꒰ seven daemons.txt now available ꒱
sadly, i couldn't get a recording of this to work… but i had forgotten with the definitive edition of gamedec, there was a dlc named 'seven daemons' where you play as ken zhou. i decided that, before starting my new playthrough of the main game (to go hunting for goodies and lore)… i wanted to try this out.
so i did! i've made notes as i played, and taken screenshots where i could. obligatory warning for spoilers below the cut, as i make a deep dive into what happens alongside my interpretations of the plot / ken's character.
immediately off the bat, i love that the game starts with ken playing a racing game (sky racing) and being so immersed in it that he curses when receiving a call that, tragically, costs him the victory. that said, i also love the dialog you can choose for the phone call:
꒰ hi, my name is shivani thana; i'm the [chief innovation officer] of the peh corporation. i'm calling because i'm in need of assistance. you're ken zhou, aren't you? the e-sport star turned gamedec?
[ask if she's a fan] yeah, you're a fan?
i don't really understand e-sport, and i wouldn't be calling if you were still a professional player. ꒱
ouch! poor ken. he takes it like a champ, though. and understandably so when you read his codex entry about himself:
Tumblr media
anyway, the first game we appear in is seven: the days long gone… fitting given the dlc name. the codex describes it as a
꒰ postapocalyptic rpg mixing magic with technology. ꒱
and is a pre-information era game that even ken hadn't heard of despite his career(s). things are pretty standard until you find shivani's avatar almost lifeless. she's got no data, and a technician comes in to chastise you… until they recognize you.
i unfortunately didn't have the skill, but i'll include the option because it's funny to me:
꒰ ken zhou? the ken zhou? what are you doing here? [he gasped] are you having an affair with shivani?! i won't tell a soul!
[sleeves; say that it's a love affair] ꒱
but even if you don't say that option, the technician still makes a few playful nudges until ken replays the recording of his call with shivani. which is interesting as it stands because it could mean a few things:
gamedecs record their calls for legal reasons; harder to bury evidence and raise wrongful suits if there's proof of the communication
all calls made using certain devices are recorded for a variety of reasons; easier to make targeted/personalized algorithms through data collection, potential content moderation on the large scale… there's a lot of interesting corporate possibilities there that really could emphasize the cybernetic dystopia.
which also ties in to the whole idea of daemons in this universe.
they're a lot different than what i've seen them defined as.
in traditional computing, daemons are simply programs that run as background processes (and, as a fun fact, usually end with the letter d for classification; d for daemon).
in the cyberpunk 2077 universe, of which i'm also a massive nerd for, daemons are a unique type of quickhack that allows netrunners (or anybody with the right cyberdeck) to effectively upload malware onto other people's decks.
in gamedec's virtualium, daemons are ai assistants that mold themselves based on the data of their user. things like virtualium habits, personality, the usage of your seat and suit… they mold themselves to your tastes and needs to become the perfect virtual assistant; a new right hand, so to speak.
and this somber tone is reflected through ken's perception of the virtualium, particularly where shivani's office is concerned:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
then again when we convince the technician to leave us alone as we investigate:
Tumblr media
beyond that, the first major choice of the dlc is whether or not ken allows ryan, one of the peh corporation employees, to install one to him. seeing as the only experience we know so far is that having a daemon has created a backdoor of sorts to 'shut down' shivani, the obvious answer would be to refuse…
but for the lore, we allowed ryan to install the software, meaning that peh corporation now has full access to our helmet.
almost immediately, we see the consequence of this: a crossbow bolt strikes ryan mid-sentence and he starts bleeding and itching, stating that he has to log out and that these 'pranks' target the programmers who work on the daemons. we don't get much time to process it, though, as our daemon springs to life and begins walking us through the installation process which.. immediately provides us some funny characterization for ken.
Tumblr media
i opted for winning, as ken seems very reminiscent of/nostalgic for his career as an esport champion. since i have scalpel now, i was able to see what the daemon did with our data; not much was learned beyond the fact it was able to observe what we were doing.
going around the environment gives us a few interesting convos, including one with a watcher named alex. they're trying to persuade peh corporation to publicize their ai-training data, as, quote:
꒰ corporations always try to evade releasing data, open data act or not. peh's argument here is that it's a trade secret. i don't care about trade secrets [em] i care about public interest. algorithms influence the very way we experience the world. ꒱
what i find nice is that you can sympathize with alex, with ken stating,
꒰ come on. they've surely considered the consequences. it's their software [em] they don't want a lawsuit. ꒱
… and then you're propositioned to allow alex insight on the daemons as peh corporation has attempted to stunt their investigation. of course, we agreed, and summon our daemon to learn how to subtly scan them and record the data.
one of the more interesting interactions is attempting to scan an ai by the name of artanak, because it doesn't work. he catches you, but he isn't really upset by that. in fact, he provides some relatively interesting insight on the development of ai in the gamedec universe:
꒰ last time we also coexisted; ais helping humans with their tasks. until it turned out that we were able of making independent decisions. sometimes our decisions influenced humans and obviously it ended with war and destruction. i'm surprised no one here remembers it, really. and other ais seem even more secretive than in my time. ꒱
in investigating the area, we find evidence pointing toward the person who'd shot ryan, and thus attempt entering the creative team's space. likewise, helping out others in the area reveals that some daemons have had glitches regarding company crediting, leading you to believe something is wrong in the coding department. unfortunately, either gate doesn't let us through and we'd have to earn an authorization token. the way you earn the token is honestly kind of fun; a group of employees playing "the josh"… aka just standing around telling bad jokes. you have to out-joke them in order to win your place.
some of my favorite ones that ken can tell include:
꒰ you know, i'll have to go to the bar after this… but you set it so low, i'll have to dig. ꒱
꒰ you're a dictator. with the emphasis on the dick. ꒱
winning the josh gets ken the title "silver-tongued punslayer" which is just. so funny to me. he seemed genuinely proud of his dad jokes! and i love that for him.
the coding area is technical and there's not a lot there either in terms of new development. fascinating convos about the migration of npcs in this game's rework into a virtualium, though! and as you snoop around, other employee daemons confront you and lead you to your secondary deduction of what is wrong with shivani's daemon. with what we saw re: the crossbow bolt and footprints, it feels clear the daemon itself is not the problem (as much as it would be in a practical sense; this level of ai augmentation seems highly unethical at best and outright dangerous at worst) but that someone meddled with it.
of course, ken puts it more succinctly:
Tumblr media
so we head to the creative division and i am. immediately stricken with love because there is a person with a funky robot mask and modulated voice. shoutout to dungeongeek for being that guy(tm).
Tumblr media
anyway, the investigation continues and you find the armor of the would-be assassin, along with a note, and more footprints. as an aside, here's another funny bit of dialog:
Tumblr media
then i'll be so for real… i spaced out a little, got up to do something, forgot i was playing, then came back very confused. but that's not the game's fault, that's just my brain being my brain!
investigating the creative division involved a fun side-plot about rewritting a questline for the game's revamp, and then you meet the alleged attacker. they talk a lot about their distrust toward shivani and the daemon program as a whole, and how there will be no apologies for the attack against ryan. you also end up getting an interesting code that cracks through the daemon software, and find yourself back in shivani's office…
and into an argument between ryan and a peh corp representative who seems all too eager to remove ken from the premises. after persuading them to let us intervene, we connect to shivani and find an amusing little like… minesweeper meets frogger type bridge puzzle. beyond that is shivani's avatar and a data node. you find out she'd been personally modifying things and creating, effectively, a carbon copy of herself against the company's safety protocols.
Tumblr media
and that's effectively it! in my case, ken… saved the daemonn and ended up killing the original shivani, as her conscience had been so far gone it was impossible to discern the two.
i would assume there are more peh corporation sympathetic endings, given there is an npc that allows you to betray alex/interrupt their investigation, as well as the fact there was a pretty extensive branch of deductions to make for what seems like a straightforward case.
the premise was really interesting, and i like how this does play into ken's characterization throughout the main plot of gamedec. he's very headstrong and very focused on doing the right thing within his role, even if he takes a more laissez-faire approach to the conversational side of it. to have witnessed how one corporation could so easily take advantage of people, only to find out that it's potentially happening again, though on a much larger scale...
it really adds weight to his interactions with the player and to his death.

Total War: WARHAMMER III gets some campaign changes
Tumblr media
Total War: WARHAMMER III strategy game offers new start positions across Linux, Mac, and Windows PC. All due to the effort of developer Creative Assembly and Feral Interactive. Which is also discounted on both Steam and Humble Store. Feral Interactive announced the WARHAMMER III release on Linux on June 16, 2022. Now it seems Creative Assembly is making a few key changes to the games start. Total War: WARHAMMER III is the final installment of the sweeping Total War: WARHAMMER trilogy. Also the most ambitious Total War title to date. Four Ruinous Powers seek to slip their bonds while swarming from the Realm of Chaos. All due to engulfing the world in a tide of daemonic corruption. Along with only the Tzardom of Kislev and the Empire of Grand Cathay to stand in their way. Players may direct the forces of darkness or defeat them, in a story-driven campaign where empires will rise and fall across a world of breathtaking scale and spectacle. Perfecting the Total War formula of massive real-time battles and turn-based strategy, WARHAMMER III’s sandbox offers 10 Legendary Lords, seven unique races and hundreds of units to command.

As war-hardened veterans, you’re (likely) already aware of the start positions. Since these are more than where your campaign begins. As they create the tone for what you experience and the level of difficulty you'll encounter. All due to a variety of factors. Such as the number of enemy factions around your settlements. As well as the resources available and type of terrain (or corruption) that envelops your Total War: WARHAMMER III land. While the starting positions for most of the Legendary Lords do not see a change in Immortal Empires. Creative Assembly has altered where 29 factions begin their journey based on a variety of factors. All due to creating a more authentic style of gameplay.
Tumblr media
The game also includes the Ogre Kingdoms Race Pack. Bringing you the vicious Ogre warlords Greasus Goldtooth and Skrag the Slaughterer. While they lead an army of brutes, bandits, and gluttons to satisfy their hunger for war. A portal to the Realm of Chaos has opened. The Total War: WARHAMMER III strategy game is now discounted 10% on Steam and Humble Store. Priced at $53.99 USD / £44.99 / 53,99€. But regular price on the Feral Store $59.99 USD / €59.99 / £49.99. The Ogre Kingdoms DLC is priced at $11.99 USD / €11.99 / £9.99 plus a 10% discount on Steam and Humble Store. Along with support for Linux, Mac, and Windows PC.

DO NOT READ THE REST OF THIS MESSAGE UNTIL YOU START WANTING FIC PROMPTS BUT UM...I just had a few I wanted to throw at you: daemon AU, things you write on your skin show up on theirs soulmate AU, arranged marriage AU, alchemist!Riza AU BECAUSE REASONS, Rapunzel AU because Roy as Eugene speaks to me, Animorphs fusion where Roy is Jake and Riza is his Cassie, Dragon Age fusion where Roy is the Warden and Riza is the daughter of that one terrifying Warden researches from the Origins DLC...
I already wrote some stuff for the daemon AU because that’s my secret weakness, but soulmate AU’s are NOT a secret weakness in any way.  I meant for this to be more lighthearted.  It is not.
Roy Mustang has not allowed anyone to see him with his shirt off for years, when Miss Hawkeye takes him aside into a hotel room.  He knows what she’s going to show him before the last button on her shirt is undone, but it still makes him let out a breath.
“I--I’ve never seen it properly,” he says, almost a murmur, as if they’re still standing over her father’s grave, and he reaches out without a thought to trace a finger over the coiling line of the alchemical circle.  She doesn’t even twitch at the contact.
“He never would have done it if he knew,” she says, just as low.  “He never--it never occurred to him that there would be anyone.”
Roy bites back the initial rush of anger.  Master Hawkeye was a good teacher, as such things went, but almost merciless with his students--he had driven away seven apprentices before Roy.  Miss Hawkeye had watched them all come and go, even Roy, eventually, and her father had been almost disinterested in her, all because she had no talent for alchemy.  He would never have thought to ask if his loyal, quiet daughter had a soulmate whose skin might show his secrets.
“He used you as a living code,” Roy murmured, the same thing he had thought when the tattoo began to creep across his own back.  The anger isn’t as far gone as it could be.
Miss Hawkeye makes a dismissive motion with one hand.  “He’s dead.  I’ll show it to who I want, and you deserve to see the whole thing.  I would have shown you even if I didn’t think it would be of use, out there in the desert.”  There’s a beat.  “You could have gotten someone to examine it for you, or copy it down.”
“I didn’t know who I could trust to keep the secret,” Roy admits, resisting the urge to press his palm flat against the span of her back, the smooth skin between her shoulders.  Her skin is warm and firm under his fingertips, and she’s grown into the solemn eyes and sharp jaw she had even as a little girl, into a woman who stands like she means to lift the world on her shoulders.
Roy’s seen plenty of women in his life, maybe more beautiful than the stubborn girl with her calloused hands and stubborn chin and skin that spoke to his.  Kissed a few of them, slept with some.  But no one’s ever taken his breath away quite like her, in this inappropriate moment to be breathless.
Even the red of the tattoo--a pretty bit of alchemy if he’s ever seen one, he has to admit, a life’s work condensed into a circle and a few notes--matches perfectly with her skin, as if her father chose the color to flatter her.
It’s an unfairness, Roy decides suddenly, that the symbol of her father’s disinterest in Riza Hawkeye save as an alchemist, or failing that as an alchemical notebook, is beautiful.
“Thank you,” Miss Hawkeye says, and it takes Roy a moment to realize what she’s thanking him for.  For keeping the secret, of course.
“Your father would be furious with you for giving it to me, Miss Hawkeye,” Roy says, taking refuge in formality.  He’s never quite been able to call her Riza.  A slippery slope he spends far too much time on the brink of, that slide into familiarity.
“My father is dead, Mister Mustang.  I’d prefer that you have any tools you need not to follow.”
She says it with absolute assurance.  She’s always been so assured.
“All right,” Roy says at last.  “Then if you wouldn’t mind lying down so that I can have a closer look.”
All through Ishval, Roy never lets anyone except, once, Maes see his back.  Maes squints at it and says, “I think you need a girlfriend, Roy.  Alchemy won’t love you back.”
Roy freezes, about three days too exhausted to have even thought about stripping his shirt off.  It takes a moment before he can laugh and write it off as an alchemist’s version of a drunken mistake.  Too many shots to celebrate his new watch and rank, see, nothing more.  His aunt would be proud of him.
Maes is smarter than most people give him credit for--talking to him is a masterclass in playing the fool, and Roy’s never taken the man offguard even once--and he never brings up Roy’s tattoo again.
It’s like a flashback, standing behind Hawkeye--just Hawkeye now, Cadet and then Private and then higher, the Hawk’s Eye, his guardian in the shadows--with her shirt on the ground and his fingertips on her back.  Roy knows what a flashback feels like, now.  He trails his fingers over the red lettering and feels the strangest pressure in his chest, as if he’s about to cry for those younger selves, Roy who wasn’t yet the Flame Alchemist and Miss Hawkeye.
“Are you sure?” he asks, barely more than a whisper.
“I’m sure,” she says.  “You know the secret.  No one else should ever have it.”
She’s not wrong.
Roy is unique, in all the state alchemists who marched on Ishval.  He can count the soldiers lost from his unit on his fingers, and two of them were to a desert flu that ravaged the camp.  The rest were to personal error on the part of the soldiers--wandering alone through violent regions, or falling asleep on guard.  Because where other alchemists turned out with gunmen at their sides, or left such massive collateral damage that they were as likely to kill their own soldiers as Ishvalans, the Flame Alchemist’s men were safe.  They stood back and--snap, snap, snap, Roy leveled villages.  His soldiers went home to their families, with the memory of what the death of thousands smelled like on the wind.
The secret to flame alchemy will die with Roy Mustang and Riza Hawkeye, if they have anything to say about it.
Roy just hates the reality of how to ensure it.
“Lieutenant Colonel,” Hawkeye says firmly.  “I’m sure.”
Roy lets out a slow breath.  “Okay,” he says, feeling a familiar sort of numbness settle in his chest where he should be sick instead.  “Sit down in that chair, with your back toward me, and find something to put in your mouth.”
Hawkeye produces a belt and clenches the leather between her teeth as if she’s already thought this through.  Then she locks both hands around her wrists, threaded through the back of a sturdy wooden chair so that her chin hangs over the headrest.  She looks like a woman bracing for torture.
“Take a deep breath,” Roy says, and grips her shoulder with one hand, briefly, the only thing he can offer her.  They’ve never said I’m sorry to each other and he suspects that she would ignore him if he said it now.  Then he takes his hand away and pulls on his gloves, and says, “Try not to scream.”
His first burst of flames, oxygen-rich to force the heat higher and as obsessively controlled as any he’s ever used, sears away the top two layers of her flesh.  It’s like trying to do surgery with a hatchet--too deep and he’ll risk her life, too shallow and he won’t take off the tattoo, and it all has to look accidental while covering up the vital parts of the array.  Roy lets the first burst fade and the room is silent except for Hawkeye’s ragged panting.  She hasn’t made a sound.
“Just one more,” he tells her.
She nods, a sharp jerk of her head, and doesn’t so much as whimper as he snaps again and obliterates the vital part of the equation.
The flames flicker out and Roy stares at Hawkeye’s back, tries to think if anyone would be able to make out the lettering anymore.  If he destroys the writing on her back, his own should follow, even though scars don’t carry along the bond--it just has to erase the ink.  He thinks it’s probably good enough.
She’s trembling, he realizes with a crack in the numbness.  She probably can’t control it--her back is already starting to blister seriously at her left shoulder, and the room smells like burning skin.  There’s no charring, though, and no white bone even at the vulnerable line of her shoulder blade, and the tattoo is, if not unreadable, at least useless without half the circle and all the vital information.
“All right,” Roy says quietly.  “We’re done.  Let me get some gauze.”
The next time Maes sees Roy shirtless, it’s half an accident again--hungover, not exhausted, this time, because Maes insisted that Roy be his best man and therefore match him drink for drink at the bachelor party.  Fortunately, Roy’s alcohol tolerance is about two shots superior to Maes’, so he’s usually the level-headed one.
Usually.
This time, Maes doesn’t crack a joke.  Here, in the relative security of Roy’s apartment, he just observes Roy’s back while Roy eyes him in a mirror.
“Looks like some nasty scarring that took out that tattoo,” Maes says.  “Who’s got the marks?”
Roy considers, just for a moment, telling the truth.  Not one living human being knows--Maes, he thinks, suspects, but Roy’s never admitted it, and Hawkeye would tell him if someone got it out of her, he knows it without a doubt.  But...
Maes is his best friend, the second most trusted person in the world to Roy, and just for once, just for one moment, Roy wants nothing more than to turn around and talk about his soulmate, who is competent and kind and beautiful and perfect, perfect in every way, who he trusts with his life, to save it or take it as needed, and who trusted him to turn his flames against her bare skin and then to tend her wounds in the weeks that followed.  He understands, for a split second, the way Maes talks about his wife-to-be, because he wants that.  He wants to tell someone all the things he loves about Riza Hawkeye until they hate him for it.
Roy turns around with a sincerely apologetic half-smile and lies to Maes’ face.
Maes doesn’t hold it against him.

What are your thoughts on a fan theory that all the events of episode prompto only happened in Prompto's head and weren't real? (Is it safe to discuss the episode now?)
Well, on my blog it is, at least, but I’ll tag for spoilers just in case. c: Because I REALLY want to talk about this theory because, to be honest, I’m really close to agreeing with it. To an extent, I mean, since Episode Prompto was an odd one in my eyes.
So spoilers ahead, because we’re talking EPISODE PROMPTO! Read below for my rambling!
So to me, this idea that Prompto had this all running through his head can be really plausible, I think. Of course, Square can pretty much tell us that they changed up Prompto’s story a bit to fit with his own episode, but honestly? I don’t buy it that much. Episode Prompto is a DLC that Tabata and the others KNEW they wanted to happen, just as they knew they wanted Episode Gladiolus to talk about him running off in Chapter 7, and Episode Ignis to discuss just how in the world Ignis was blinded. I like to give Square credit, and perhaps it might be too much credit, but I will when I say that Episode Prompto should be more well-thought out than we all assume.
Like, for me, and I’ll level with you here, I didn’t like Episode Prompto as much as I could have because it was so odd to me. Literally. Wandering through the snow after mysteriously finding a new outfit, stumbling upon an MT base where Verstael is trying to conduct an immortal experiment that turns him into a sentient version of the Very Hungry Caterpillar, and Aranea miraculously finding Prompto in a period of about two days/less after meeting Noctis and the others in Tenebrae and sending them on their way to Gralea? Perhaps it’s me being overly analytical, but Aranea isn’t THAT good at tracking someone. In a snowstorm. In, again, less than two days or so. Because by train, you can probably make a trip across a country (which I personally assume is about the size of Europe, more or less) in about a day if you really didn’t have any complications. Sans, of course, Ardyn appearing and Gentiana blessing Noctis with her icy presence.
Needless to say, ALOT of things didn’t add up in Episode Prompto, more than they actually did. They of course try to give us the bonus Episode Prompto stuff nevertheless though, like the outfit and the Lionheart gun too (which is super cute by the way…!).
But that’s where this whole fan theory comes into play: There’s so many weird things in the Episode that we can only assume that there’s something FAR more intriguing about just a Metal Gear wannabe DLC. One of the only real ways that can explain EVERYTHING in this DLC is by the fact that it is, in fact, a dream. An illusion that Ardyn conjured up to make Prompto relive the guilt about being an MT, to unravel himself and become the monster he was truly destined to become.
AND HERE’S A BUNCH OF REASONS WHY. SO KICK UP A SEAT BECAUSE THIS POST IS GONNA GET LENGTHY.
1) How the hell did he end up in the middle of the snow? Without any help? In a few days?
So the time frame of FFXV is super weird because we’ve got moments where they’re riding on a train, they’re suddenly stopping in Tenebrae, and those sorts of fun and merry things. So we never really get a rough timeframe of how long it took the boys to travel from Altissia to Gralea where the keep was. But we know for a fact that a good majority of the boys’ traveling is done by train. If you want to go in the comparison of the empire being about the same size as maybe Russia just for relativity sake, it takes you about seven days of train traveling to get across the continent to Gralea, give or take. (Again, this is all just speculations and guessing). Either way, they’re VIA train, at one point by car too with only one major stop to restock in Tenebrae. Beyond that, we pretty much see them make an almost continue train ride to Gralea.
Prompto, however, was thrown off the train just outside of Tenebrae, probably meaning he was traveling with the boys for about 2-3 days already before he had an early departure. He’d have to catch up with Noctis and the others in about 2 days or three after spending about two to three days dealing with the Verstael situation in Episode Prompto. BRINGING IN MATH HERE, but that means Prompto would have to make up that distance at approximately 150 MPH on a snowmobile to catch up to a train going about 80 MPH. Again, in about 2-3 days to catch up on a snowmobile while also taking in account breaks, nights to rest, and getting around obstacles that a snowmobile might not be able to traverse through. Mountains for example? It’d be hard for him to do, no matter how cool he was in Episode Prompto running down a mountain on a snowmobile as it was. Possible, but highly unlikely too.
2) How did Aranea find Prompto so quickly after dropping everything in Tenebrae?
It strikes me odd that we find Aranea suddenly in Episode Prompto because wasn’t she helping in Tenebrae to get people out of the burning manor and escape from the daemon outbreak from the city of Gralea? Why would she immediately drop whatever she was doing to go help out a blond-haired kid that conveniently was there to help her stop a mad scientist from making himself into a human centipede with robo-lasers? To me, I find it hard to believe, considering that she, for one, only met Prompto once direction for about two days to help Noctis go through a dungeon, and maybe a few times within Chapter 8 when she appeared before them all in a mask. (or when she again dropped in and beat up Noctis, again in a mask). She didn’t even acknowledge Prompto throughout most of the Myrtlewood dungeon, I think, so why give a damn about Prompto being lost?
It’s good that we saw Aranea there, but if you think about it, Prompto would probably imagine her the most out of anyone else to save him. He can’t imagine Noctis, Ignis, or Gladio saving him because they’re gone by then, and he already felt like he wasn’t good enough for them. Cor as well wouldn’t be someone Prompto would imagine helping him because Cor’s a Lucian. He doesn’t know anything about the MTs. Aranea, however, does, since she’s a commodore in the Niflheim Navy and someone strong enough to kick Prompto’s ass into shape and help him. He respects her enough to want her aid, but also knows that she wouldn’t push an MT away after working with them for so long.
3) Why did Verstael turn into a goo boy?
From what I remember about Episode Prompto, Verstael was making a machine infused with daemons and humans that would act as his vessel to basically become something more powerful than the Astrals themselves. He was obsessed with this god-like complex of his, which we all can understand seeing how he behaved in his conversation about Lunafreya in Chapter 3 of the base game. He wanted her alive because she could communicate with the Astrals, basically acting as a conduit for him to discover what makes the Astrals so strong. So he made the machine to become some god-like beast.
But why was he turning all gooey anyways? Why did he have to die in order for him to trigger the machine? When he approached Prompto, he radiated dark energy that he was becoming a daemon, turning into a monster. Half of his face was messed-up, after all. But these kinds of traits of daemofication while still alive never happens unless they DIED at some point. If he wanted immortality, he could have just gotten Ardyn to turn him into a daemon like he did with Iedolas and Ravus. Unless Verstael was the first, I mean. This only adds onto the fact that perhaps Verstael was dead and immortal as it was? It’s odd to me that if he wanted to become immortal, he could have easily just struck a deal with Ardyn to become a daemon pet. Instead, he was infused to a giant worm? Why? Why go through all that trouble when daemification and infusing a daemon into something is possible? Verstael is a smart man and knows how to get stuff done, so the trouble he went through to turn into a goo boy, die, get infused with a worm, and get blown up is pretty cray to me.
4) What’s with the flashbacks and paradoxes?
This, I feel, is one of the bigger pieces of evidence to why Episode Prompto can be a dream theory. Things get really strange with Noctis trying to kill MT-clad Prompto, with Prompto reconciling with his younger self, with Pyrna appearing, etc. ESPECIALLY PYRNA. Because it was said that she had died when Lunafreya died, of grief at that. How is it that the dog managed to wander around when they were supposedly dead? They may be an Astral dog, but they still had an actual minimalistic form. We see that they too can die in the Omen trailer, despite that being a dream too. But still, even the Astrals can be killed somehow – just like how Eos was killed during the whole Lucian royalty are half-astrals theory. Why did these memories and illusions come trick him? Stress-induced hallucinations? A drug injected into him without us knowing? How? It’s odd to me, but most people assume it was an Ardyn mind-trick. He was there, as we see at the very end of the DLC, but why nearly freeze your immortal dick off just to mess with the broken child?
And most importantly – and my favorite detail about this in why Episode Prompto might be a dream theory – 5) How come Prompto wasn’t burned in Chapter 13?
We see at the very end of Episode Prompto that he’s strapped to the torture device and is just hanging there, not doing much and out of his change of clothes by now. Odd that he’d be redressed, but we see Noctis and the others come up and run to him to help Prompto. But later on in that chapter and during some of the Episode Prompto cutscenes, Prompto has that barcode on him. I believe there was a picture (Photoshopped or nah?) that showed that he had done something to his code. But still, those are not burn marks nevertheless, if that picture is real or altered. If they were burned, they be almost like something Ignis has on his face, not red and swollen looking like that, I don’t think. Yes, we get the option to say no to burning Prompto, but still. That barcode would have seen some pretty bad damage on it if Prompto clawed it off, burned it off, anything.
Instead, we see only the mark from when he was the restraint mark on his wrist from perhaps struggling to break free, or from hanging there limply. Fishy that there isn’t any other injuries on him, even after Episode Prompto. That mark over his nose isn’t there during the DLC, the injuries on his wrist aren’t during the base game. For the most part, the injuries that we know of besides you burning off his barcode are all injuries from the base game.
And most importantly, I bring this up too: During Episode Gladiolus, his ending was him walking with Cor to get back to Lestallum to meet the others, right? We see his resolution and ending, his reward and success for completing his task. How come at the very end, we only see Prompto hanging there in that prison? He’s not riding to Gralea to return to Noctis. We don’t see him get kidnapped by any of the Imperial Officers or Ardyn either. We only see Prompto. Trapped. Imprisoned. Why? After all we saw in Episode Prompto, how come they left out the major plot hole that we wanted to know: HOW DID PROMPTO GET TO GRALEA?
Well, with all of those details, wouldn’t it be logical that Prompto never left Gralea to begin with…? That Ardyn had him relive the psychological torture of Verstael and his insanity in hopes of Prompto turning against Noctis? We even know from the Versus XIII plotline that Prompto was initially supposed to betray Noctis during the point where he reveals he’s Verstael’s son. That was Prompto’s crisis point in the initial game, and he was going to turn on Noctis during Versus XIII. Perhaps Ardyn used these mind-tricks to try swaying Prompto to do so during XV. Perhaps he wanted to see their friendship break apart.
That, and Ardyn humming that Chocobo theme at the very end of Episode Prompto. Prompto only ever hummed that with Noctis and the others. How would Ardyn know that Prompto sings that too unless A) he’s a super mega-stalker (which I wouldn’t put it past him to be) or B) he knows Prompto’s mind and secrets and saw the memory of Prompto having sung/hummed that before. Ardyn knew Prompto’s mind more than we really thought, I feel.
So yes, I actually really do agree with the dream theory idea for Episode Prompto because alot of it is strange to me. But even if it all actually did happen, this theory is a fun one to ponder on. c;

Daemon X Machina looks for clothes at the soup store with Code Geass DLC
Earlier last week, Daemon X Machina revealed that its first crossover DLC would be with the popular Eureka Seven. While that DLC has yet to leave Japan, despite being on the international roadmap, this hasn’t stopped Marvelous from revealing its next collaboration.
Japanese players will be receiving Code Geass-themed content today. However it won’t be based on series protagonist Lelouch. Instead,…

@slothssassin, @katajanokka, and @bioticeyes all tagged me for the answer-10-questions, write-10-questions meme. Thank you! I always enjoy doing these, even though it sometimes takes me forever to get to them.
Rules:  Always post the rules, answer the questions given to you, then write 10 questions of your own, and tag some friends!
First, here are the questions I've made up. I'll tag: @dearophelia, @bardofheartdive, @erubadhriell, @mordinette, @servantofclio, @probablylostrightnow, @bloomingcnidarians, @badwolf626, @theherocomplex, @swaps55, and/or anyone else who would like to humor me.
If you were going on a road trip, which of your OCs would you most like to take with you? What about if you were going to a fancy dinner party?
What's a skill that you're working on developing/improving?
Is there a commonly-cited piece of advice that you disagree with?
What's your favorite non-mammalian animal?
What's a story that you would recommend to your followers? (Can be a book, fanfic, news article, etc.)
If safe, comfortable, faster-than-light travel was available, which part of our solar system would you most like to visit?
Is there a song that's been on your mind a lot lately?
What's a misconception that people might have about you (either online or offline)?
Describe your best friend (or one of your best friends) in three words.
What are you planning to do tomorrow?
Annnnnd, the 30 questions that I'm answering are under the cut!
@slothssassin asked:
What was your favorite subject in school? Classical Mythology.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? An author, lmao.
Why did you create your blog? To post Knights of the Old Republic fan fiction.
Tell me a random piece of advice. It's much easier to navigate around people if you watch their feet, rather than their faces. (Idk if this is a problem for anyone else, but I always struggled to avoid bumping into people in crowded hallways until I realized this.)
What do you like about yourself? I try to be a good listener.
Your top three video games? This is going to be a lame answer, because I only got back into video games 2 years ago, and since then the most memorable games I've played have been from Bioware, so... Mass Effect 2, Knights of the Old Republic, Dragon Age 2.
What colour are your eyes? Brown
What was the last game you played? The Leliana's Song DLC for DAO. My heart!
Something that annoys you about tumblr? The busybodies who can't leave well enough alone and try to start trouble where there doesn't need to be any.
Your favourite cartoon? I don't watch cartoons anymore, but growing up, it was Gargoyles. And Sailor Moon.
@katajanokka asked:
Which band/musician would you love to see on stage? Florence Welch! Or Bastille.
Is there a country you would like to live in? Canada (I used to live there and would love to go back someday).
Ocean or Mountains? Mountains
What languages do you speak? Fluently? Only English. But I can speak a bit of French and Hebrew too.
If you would be able to see the future, would you want to? Oh goodness no.
Do you play an instrument? If not, which one would you like to play? Piano and violin, although it's been a while since I practiced either.
Do you have any pets? None of my own.
The first and the latest fictional character you adored? First: Susan Pevensie from the Chronicles of Narnia. Latest: Gina Linetti from Brooklyn 99.
Cosy evening at home or fun night out? Hoooooome.
Who do you admire (artists, writers, activists…)? Artists: Shaun Tan, Lydia Staples, Liga Klavina, and all of my art-making mutuals on Tumblr. Writers: Ursula Le Guin, Marilynne Robinson, Margaret Atwood, N.K. Jemisin.
@bioticeyes asked:
If you can call yourself from 10 years ago and only have a minute to talk, what would you say? Please give our dog an extra hug and tell her that I love her, because I miss her every day.
What is something you’re very proud of? [data not found]
What is your dream vacation? Someplace quiet and warm, with fresh air and trees and a library.
Did you do any pranks as a child? Describe one! Hmm. One time while my mom was at a class, my dad and I went into her car and filled it with stuffed animals and treats and put a "For Sale" sign in the window. I'm not sure if that was a prank, or just us being our strange Chaotic Neutral selves...
Coffee or tea? Coffee. But... I also need tea...
If you could make the world of any book/movie/tv show/video game real and go live inside it, which world would you pick? Lyra's world from His Dark Materials, because I would love to have a daemon.
Are you a cat or a dog person? Dog, kinda by default because I am allergic to cats. Nonetheless, I love cats and I'm sad that I probably won't be able to have one.
Do you have a favorite stuffed animal? Yes, a little toy boxer dog.
Can you cook? What is the dish you cook best? Yes, I can cook. I think what people like best is my baking, though. Especially my apricot & white chocolate cookies, and my fewer-than-seven-layer bars.
When’s your birthday? In May.
