Imma complain bout Moho cause I'm getting frustrated and it aint cuz Im struggling to learn it. I'm a stubborn bitch who tries to st and learn something even if I'm struggling. This is very much a vent so if you dont wanna see it feel free to keep moving.
I bought the debut version of Moho ages ago and have been tryin to learn it for months. I kept getting frustrated and overwhelmed and dropped it for a while. Picking it back up now and sitting and watching tutorials tryin to mimic it and I can't actually do that cuz everything is for pro. Debut is so fuckin limited, and I get it! Thats the point! Give you a taste of it so you can see if you wanna buy the pro! I've seen that pro can do amazing things! But what the fuck can I even do with debut then???? I can't group layers together unless I use the bone layer which makes the masking harder. Smart bones are very limited, I can't even make a dial cuz there's just no option to.
Exporting is limited to 900 by 900 pixels. (you seriously can't make it a little bigger so it can actually look like an animated short??) You say this is supposed to be a powerful rigging system but you cant seem to do much with debut as the rigging system seems kinda basic and it looks awkward when rigging characters or at least is has every time I've tried. Even the most simplest of character is off. My friend and I have been trying to learn it together and we're just beside ourselves cuz everything we're trying to do isn't fuckin working with the 60 dollar version and I'm sorry that not everyone has 300-400 dollars they can just drop. I literally bought the debut cause I wanted to learn it in hopes to afford pro in the future. I wanted to animate a bit easier. Cause I lose motivation for frame by frame. I'm sitting here tryin to rig Bubble from TADC and I can't even make him blink cuz I cant use the features the tutorials are saying cause EVERYTHING focuses on pro. And I know there's *one* debut tutorial out there, so don't send it to me please. She helped the tiniest of bit but her I was still left confused on somethings. And I know I just sound like I'm whining, but debut just seems to be at the bottom of the barrel and so basic it makes it hard to really wanna sit down with it. And if even upgrading it from debut to pro wasn't still like 300 and dropped to like idk, 120 when you have one and go to upgrade the other? THEN I would buy it. At least when I upgraded my clip studio to ex, I paid like 80 bucks instead of the 200 it would normally be. And that 80 was when it was on sale. I know its a one time purchase. I know its highly praised. I know that if I dont like debut so much I should just upgrade. But I dont have that money and not bein able to learn debut as much as pro is frustrating and doesn't make me wanna work with the program. Thats all I wanted to say.

"you're gonna be wearing that?"
aka a silly odesta one shot. 900 words, no plot just vibes
No one talks about the psychological repercussions of being so hot all the time.
Annie examines herself in the mirror. One wrong move and it’s fucking over for her ass (literally).
Annie loves flashy clothing, but not the way the Capitol does it. Instead of obscene sparkles and absolutely unethical fur coats, Annie prefers the linen materials and natural sea glass from District 4’s markets. And, since it’s Halloween today, she goes all out.
She practices how she needs to walk. She’ll have more leeway when she’s finally reunited with her friends, but for right now, she does not want to flash the entirety of the Victor’s Village as soon as she walks out of the door.
The hem of her skirt (made from her own two hands, with nothing but two knitting needles and a heap of yarn) has a scalloped edge along the hemline, which provides some extra coverage. She even managed to manipulate a scrap of shiny fabric into a seashell-shaped blur.
She was a mermaid, obviously. If she really wanted to get accurate with it, then she wouldn’t be wearing a top at all, but Annie (unfortunately) isn’t a mermaid. It’s why she’s putting so much thought into what shoes she should wear. Hitting the beach was a must, but this was a special occasion. Should she break out the strappy sandals? She even replaced all the strings with seafoam green ribbon.
She reaches up to clip her hair back while she thinks about it. The knot holding up her shirt loosens. She huffs.
“Finnick? Will you help me tie this?” She plops down at the foot of the bed. Finnick was writing in his journal while she got ready, but after hearing his name, he glances at her. Annie smiles at him.
His pretty green eyes travel all the way down to her bare feet. She wonders if he’s gonna call her divine. It wouldn’t be the first time.
She leans forward, entranced by his palpable love. He’s so sweet to her all the time.
“You’re gonna be wearing that?”
She frowns. Scrap what she said about his palpable love.
“Why’d you say it like that?” she demands. Doesn’t he think her costume is pretty? “I’ve been working on this for weeks!”
Seriously. If she had a nickel for every time she raveled and unraveled the yarn to get every aspect of the design exactly right, she’d be financially compensated for all those tears she shed.
“And it looks good!” he assures her, but Annie shakes her head. He can’t backtrack now.
“No, I get it,” she insists, because she does. “You hate it.”
“I don’t hate—”
“No, it’s cool,” she insists, even though it’s not. “Lying to me is worse than hating on me.”
“Annie.” His voice goes impossibly soft. He leans forward, inching his hand toward hers, and she takes it. Maybe hate was too strong of a word. “You look beautiful. Drop-dead gorgeous. I’m just saying…”
He pauses, eyes drifting toward the ceiling like he’s crunching numbers in his head. Annie raises her eyebrows at him, imploring him to keep going. What now?
“I’m just saying it might get cold, is all.”
Seriously? That was his first thought? She’s covered in ribbons and bows and he’s thinking about the weather?
“Whatever. I can’t believe you’d try and tell me what to do.”
His eyes bug out again. He opens his mouth to reply, but the doorbell cuts him off. That must be the girls.
“Annie.” He trails after her. “I’m not trying to tell you what to do. I’d never tell you what to do. It’s just freezing out right now.”
Well, yeah. It’s Halloween. “But I look good.” What part of that doesn’t he get? “Besides, we’ll be indoors for most of it.”
“Well, yeah, but—”
They make it to the foot of the stairs. Mags throws the both of them a strange glance, probably not used to Finnick being so fucking bossy.
“Finnick hates what I’m wearing,” she explains.
“I’m just saying it’ll be cold!”
Whatever. Annie flings the door open. She and her friends start trading hugs (and compliments, because they all look unbelievably stunning).
“Dude!” Her best friend has Annie do a 360 so everyone can survey her look. “You look so fucking pretty!”
“Thank you!” Annie says, shooting a pointed glance toward Finnick. His eyebrows knit together.
“I think so, too,” he tells her. “Otherworldly.”
Otherworldly. Finnick calls her a lot of things—smart, sweet, beautiful—but otherworldly is a new one. That makes her ease up on all the teasing.
“Are you sure you don’t wanna come with us?” she asks, even though they both know he shouldn’t. Finnick being at a party wouldn’t be unusual, but they have to avoid being seen together in the public eye. District 4 has a severe gossiping problem.
“I’m okay,” he says, hugging her close. She melts into him, giving him a kiss on the cheek as an olive branch. He kisses her back, being mindful of the blush on her cheeks and the highlighter on the tip of her nose. She admires the bright red lipstick stain on his face. “You have fun. And try not to get too cold.”
She wrinkles her nose. “I’m not gonna get cold!”
#writings and musings#odesta#annie cresta#i was gonna save this for halloween until i realized this literally has nothing to fucking do w halloween#also guys i think i have a problem where if a character is wearing lipstick they HAVE to smooch their partner#like there’s just something abt it that’s so fucking cute

When you give a cat a home...
Please remember what it means. In the USA if you want to do the right thing, most vet offices won’t simply spay/neuter a cat or dog off the street without putting them through tests (bloodwork, scanning, labs) because that’s how they screen for diseases. And it is expensive.
We took in this little fellow, starving and rail-thin during a rotten winter storm. He had been living on his own for quite a while, but we can’t keep him. We were saving his life.
Fine, we thought...We’ll apply to the local shelter and pay the sliding scale fee to get him spayed and surely he will be far more adoptable that way (oh, yeah). My sister’s porch is overrun by all these cats the Crazy Cat Lady had on her porch and then she died...they all have diseases and keep breeding faster than she can keep up, and she actually found volunteers who do TNR for free.
But my application was processed at the same time the county seized multiple hoarding households and first one, then another, then another house made the news for SO MANY CATS brought to the shelter, all in physically poor condition and in need of their own neutering. Let’s not mention names; Tacoma is a big place but not big enough to protect privacies.
The weeks ticked by with no end and sight. We live sparingly; I have three jobs to keep up with rent and utilities and food. My kids work too but we don’t have a car and public transportation is a minimum $62 a month for each adult. My son’s cat is diabetic and needs $160 a month in insulin and syringes; that doesn’t even cover the diabetic cat food (pro tip: FELINE FANCY FEAST CLASSIC PATE any flavor is ok for diabetic cats!). But at $1 for a tiny little can...it adds up. For all the household cats we pay half and that means a minimum of $150 for food and litter). Those medical credit cards, like Kare Kredit, are great in emergencies but your ability to make payments on time is soon gobbled up by cascading recurring purchases.
This is not a bad cat. But he was in a bad situation.
Someone must have loved him. He was litter trained and let us clip his claws(!) But he rarely purrs, and is nervous at being brushed. Being an intact male 'Orca’ wants to spray and our cats are harassed at his high energy and desire to play. Perhaps someone just couldn’t take care of him when he stopped being an adorable and physically immature kitten. We don’t know. We were $900 in debt taking care of our cat before he came to us, and things are getting worse. The stool sample test for parasites costs as much as month’s supply of veterinarian insulin syringes. The pre-op health exam cost us $268.82. Tomorrow’s blood work will be another $50-60 and the neutering surgery alone? I don’t even want to know and that doesn’t cover using LYFT to get him to the vet--$30 in each direction, totaling to $120.
Surely there are cheaper vet offices? I have no doubt. But so many offices are full to bursting and not taking new clients.
We don’t regret bringing him in, because damn it, fair is fair. He doesn’t deserve being cold and hungry in a place where coyotes are feeding pretty well on cats their foolish owners let loose to ‘be free’. He came right up to us. No one posted a LOST sign; there was no proof he had been in a home for a long time.
I don’t know about other countries, but if medical debt isn’t taken seriously for humans if you are trying to apply for food stamps and other emergency resources, they sure as hell care less about pets needing care. System = Broken over here. We already live out of the food bank (that’s its own struggle, trust me).
If you want to take up someone’s offer for a needy pet, please don’t be nervous about offering to give a few bucks toward set pet’s care with them. Yes, many people are proud. But the phrase ‘pay it forward’ is pretty damn hard to argue with. Use it. Also, when people are stressed and wondering if this little animal is really going to a good home, offering them some money is a reassurance that you can afford to care for them.
We are humans. Part of our responsibility is stepping up to the plate when another human fails in their obligations. And sometimes, it really costs.
If anyone is looking for a pretty little cat in the Tacoma area and they know they can care for him, PM me. He’s coming chipped, vaxxed, tested, spayed--all the trimmings. Except for those pesky reproductive organs. Those are getting trimmed off on Tuesday.

I am so sick of subscription model software. I’ve refused to use adobe all these years because of it, on top of their programs not working as well as they’re made out to be.
I liked clip studio, but even after 5 years of using the program, there were many features that I felt could have been improved, and even functions I missed from fire alpaca. The fact that they’ve even thought about moving to a subscription service is enough for me to call it quits. I have my own issues with them, and call me crazy, but I have always felt like they wished their western audience would fuck off.
There are a lot of great features to CSP, but I’ve noticed that a lot of people don’t know how to use certain parts of the program due to the language barrier. There are also alarming 3D poses and models in the asset store (lolis). I’m not even sure if it was intentional, but with the release of their clippy tokens, I was always weirded out that it was abbreviated as CP, as an english speaker. The translations in general are terrible, and there are a lot of things I know I’ve missed out on bc of this.
I’ve seen people say that the company is trying to stay afloat...they have monthly tutorial contests where some people can win 900 USD. I know, because I entered one of these contests, and won a bronze award. If they are barely making ends meet, then perhaps they shouldn’t give out money to multiple people every month? Further, the asset store has gold, which a person uses real money to get. You don’t have to buy gold, but there are many interesting and honestly useful assets that a person purchase on the store using it.
Trying out other programs right now, and I can see that ironically, CSP hasn’t really tried to bring the program up to par. The stabilization has always been a joke, and I realize that it just sucks. Paintstorm and Affinity both have fantastic stabilizers, and are much more natural to use. They also work wonderfully with my Huion tablet, while Clip Studio has always been off with my pen alignment. I’m seriously considering moving to Paintstorm just off this alone, my hands are permanently shaky due to Graves Disease, and these other programs work so well.
I just want to paint. I want to make pretty pictures, and stupid ones. I want to make loading screens for The Sims 2. I want to make background images for my youtube channel. I want to draw black and white like I did as a teenager, and not have to have 1000 pencils and tortillons in a box somewhere in my room.
I love using technology to help with references and shit. I am just tired man. I am so sick and tired of all the fucking subscription based shits, and am seriously falling more in line with the core of places like neocities; where you can just make your page, be yourself, and have fun. I am so tired of monetizing everything. I’m tired of monetizing my entire fucking life.
I pay for a mortgage, utilities, medicine, internet, and food every month. Every place online is trying to make a quick buck, no matter if their services actually work or not. Every video on youtube is at risk of a copyright strike because some boomer thinks you’re stealing from them or their friends, because for some reason they think you’re making money off youtube. If you want any sort of entertainment, you’re very likely going to have to pay for it. I’m sick of it all. All this shit sucks. I’m going to make a list of free shit you can use on your computer, at home, or online, because I am so tired of this shit. There are so many good programs that are just...free, and good to use. But Big Adobe, Big Celsys, Big Amazon, and all the other fuckheads don’t want to know that. They act like it’s a crime not pay them.
so fucking over it

this is gonna be a long one
OKAY so I’m doing another one of these. They’re obviously in high demand lmao. Also watch me saying I can’t say anything bout this clip cos it’s already perfect, and then still writing a 900+ word post (insert clown here)
ANYWAYS HERE YA GO this is about the Kieutou date clip. I honestly owe Druck my life for this.
Fatou is EARLY and she looks so nervous sjdjjsjdh
they're both so nervous and awkward i love my disaster children
Once again HEIGHT DIFFERENCE (i will never be over that)
Kieu My, why you walking away so fast, this isn't a race
And Fatou running after her and walking next to her i-
The tension in that blue room is SO PALPABLE
THEYRE LITERALLY DANCING AROUND EACH OTHER AND TRYING NOT TO LOOK
WHY ARE THEY SO AWKWARD, YOURE LITERALLY ON A DATE
Kieu My pretending to take notes for physics, girl we know you aren't good at being subtle
Fatou looks almost sad like she's feeling ignored again?? Bebi.
Kieu My coming up from behind her like i don't wanna say anything but that's hot ngl
Like two stars gravitating towards each other they will be the death of me
Gay stares™
LIKE THEM PRETENDING LIKE THEY ARE NOT ACTIVELY FOLLOWING EACH OTHER
H A N D S i need more hands tbh #LetKieutouHoldHands2k21
Those stares....this is even worse than on horror-night
Kieu My why you so nervous, you both know why ur here
LIKE THIS IS A DATE WHY CANT THEY COMMUNICATE WILL THEY EVER LEARN
i don't even need to talk about the perfect metaphor of stars inevitably colliding, like these two are literally soulmates
Kieu My trying to get herself to talk to Fatou akjfhkadslj my girls are trying okay?
She starts talking and suddenly sounds so confident, beginning something is always the hardest
She's literally panicking and geeking out about her space stuff
SHE OPENED UP AND THEN WAS IMMEDIATELY SCARED THAT SHE WAS BORING FATOU LIKE BEBI NO
Fatou got her girl tho. Not only does she make sure Kieu My knows she isn't boring her, but also continues to talk about the thing she knows Kieu My is obsessed with
actual girlfriends
Kieu My actually looks so perplexed when Fatou is interested in her rambling, you really found the right girl.
Like, who has ever asked her about her interests, and THEN also actually listened and cared?
The way Kieu My's looking at her like girlie is in love
“I think it's crazy that everything happened the way it did.” Fatou. You are such a dork and i love you. Also you’re right.
MORE. GAY. STARING.
Kieu My looking at her lips so many times before finally kissing her
AAAAH again, the metaphor of stars colliding
with the red star symbolising Fatou's warmth, and the blue star being a metaphor for Kieu My ice queen persona? (I've heard this theory from Vic in our discord server :))
-> creating a new galaxy that is their relationship
“Ich wollt dich jetzt nicht weiter verwirren/I didn’t want to further confuse you” - “mich oder dich?/me or you?” The fact that fatou can already read her so well
She's smiling at her like "that's my dumbass" and mirroring her posture
Fatou just knows Kieu My needs someone to talk it out, someone who understands her
Kieu My said she's bi out loud, i love that!
Kieu my feeling safe enough to tell this all
Sharing insecurities, we love to see it
She's looking for reassurance that she doesn't sound dumb, that her feelings are valid! And Fatou's just like, yeah i got you. Those two istg
“Ich wollte eigentlich richtig, richtig gutes Abi machen. Ohne Ablenkung/I actually wanted to get a really really good Abi. Without distractions” WITHOUT DISTRACTIONS WELL BITCH YOU DONE FUCKED UP YOU TWO HAD TO HAPPEN SOONER OR LATER
they are so adorable
“Ich würd voll gern Astrophysik studieren./I would love to study Astrophysics.” Can everyone just say thank you to Nhungi for proposing Kieu My being obsessed with astronomy? Cos it's honestly so amazing.
She didn't say anything about her parents directly pressuring her, but more like she feels she has to do great things with the opportunities she's been given. Similar to Fatou.
“München ist voll weit weg/Munich is really far away.” So few words, so many feelings.
*Look, I honestly thought that song was the beginning of Soulmate by Natasha Bedingfield like IMAGINE
just lying in solidarity.
ANOTHER INSTANCE of me thinking the clip would end there and Druck just continuing and adding another 20 years to my life (which i will spend further obsessing over this ship)
They're just really out here on the streets like this. My heart is so full.
Suddenly, conversation seems easy, effortless?
They're actually learning more about each other it warms my heart
The close your eyes thing- I don't really have to say more, those two are just amazing.
Also Kieu My being smooth for once in her life you go girl
And they're playing Can't Help Falling in Love like Druck you're SERVING today
Fatou finds Kieu My so adorable when speaking vietnamese like GURL SAME
Also the things Kieu My says in vietnamese, i know i say dork a lot but LOOK AT THEM
DO WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT THE TWIRLY-KISS THING
Also Fatou having to constantly stand on the stairs to be on kinda the same height as Kieu My, I will never shut up about the height difference
ASKING BOUT THE BIRTHMARK and Kieu My like seriously answering the question SOULMATES
i have been waiting for a Kieutou hug for forever, thank you for giving me life
Who needs a cuddle clip (okay i still want one) when you can have your otp hugging and holding each other like this
These nerds just be pointing at the sky. They're perfect.
There you go, this is a LOT. Honestly, everyone who made it this far....respect.
Please touch me I'm lonely

prompt: Mulder and Scully being competitive with each other over silly things - Jeopardy? solving the case before the end of an episode of some sort of forensic crime show? how many slices of pizza they can eat? a board game? etc.
Loved this one, Anon, thank you so much. And I was in the mood to whip up something humorous. Went to sleep last night thinking about it.
Half and Half
by: mldrgrl Rating: PG
“I’m dying to get out of this suit,” Scully says. “Give me ten minutes and then we can go through the report?”
“I’ll leave the connecting door unlocked,” Mulder says as they exit their rental car and head to the doors to their rooms. “Come over when you’re done and we’ll order in.”
She sighs in relief as she kicks off her heels at the door. She tosses her blazer to the side, unbuttons her shirt, and loosens her skirt. She clips her hair back, washes her face, and changes into a pair of sweats and a t-shirt.
File folders under her arm, she taps lightly on the connecting door before she pushes it open. Mulder is sitting at the edge of the bed, tie off and buttons undone at the neck. His shirtsleeves are rolled up and he’s yelling at the TV.
“What is Mork & Mindy!” he yells. “Mork and Mindy, you idiots. Everyone knows ‘nanu nanu.’”
“We were looking for, ‘What is Mork & Mindy?’” Alex Trebeck says.
“Obviously,” Mulder says. “How did you people even get on the show?”
“What are you doing?” Scully asks.
“Playing Jeopardy.”
“TV Catchphrases for $400, Alex.”
“Book ‘em, Danno.”
“What is Hawaii 5-0,” Mulder yells, just as Scully says, “Hawaii 5-0.”
Mulder makes the sound of a buzzer. “You have to answer in the form of a question, Scully, or it doesn’t count.”
“I still knew the answer.”
“You mean, the question.”
“Do you want to debate the semantics of Jeopardy or go over the reports?”
“Sure, sure.”
“Let’s try Shakespeare Who Said it? for $200.”
“Double double, toil and trouble.”
“Who are the witches?” Mulder answers.
“Who are the three witches of Macbeth,” Scully says at the same time.
“Who is Macbeth?” answers the first contestant to ring in.
“Oh, come on,” Scully says. “You can’t be that dumb.”
“Right?”
“Not quite what we’re looking for,” Alex answers. Finally, the second contestant answers correctly.
“Shakespeare Who Said It for $300.”
“I prithee daughter do not make me mad.”
“Baptista, maybe,” Mulder answers. “Who is Baptista?”
“No, who is King Lear?” Scully disagrees.
“Who is King Lear?”
“Who is, King Lear. Act 2, scene 4, referring to Goneril. And that will lead us to our first commercial break. More to come after these words from our sponsors.”
“I should’ve known that one,” Mulder says, scooting over to make room for Scully on the bed. “$600 to $500, I’m winning.”
“How do you figure that?”
“You lost Hawaii 5-0 to incorrect phrasing.”
“You didn’t establish the rules. $600 to $900, I’m winning.”
“I didn’t have to establish anything, those are the inherent rules of Jeopardy. Everybody knows that.”
“Mulder, I’m here to go over these reports,” Scully answers, holding up the file folders that have been tucked under her arm the whole time. She is still standing.
“How about a little wager?”
“On what?”
“Winner orders the pizza of their choice, loser pays.”
“Come on, Mulder.”
“You don’t think you can beat me?”
“No, I know I can beat you. I just want to get this review done so I can go to bed.”
“Scully, it’s 7 o’clock. The review can wait. Unless you’re just chicken.”
“Very mature.”
“Triple dog dare you?”
Scully held her hand out as though to shake Mulder’s. “We start with a clean slate going in from the commercial and we make our own wagers on Double Jeopardy questions.”
“I’ll keep score!” Mulder leaves Scully’s handshake hanging in the breeze and jumps up to grab the complimentary pad of paper and pen on the motel desk, which she snatches from him as soon as he comes back to sit down.
“I’ll keep score,” she says.
“You are the math geek.”
They sit through contestant bios and Alex Trebek’s vaguely sarcastic comments on the tidbits they’ve chosen to share with the audience. When the game starts back up again, there are two answers left in Shakespeare Who Said It? and every answer available in Civil War Nicknames, The Old West, and American Folklore.
Unsurprisingly, Mulder dominates the folklore category, but they tie for two answers. They both struggle with The Old West more than Civil War Nicknames, but the answers there are easier to decipher within the clues. Mulder is up $700 when the first Daily Double comes up in The Old West.
“$200,” Scully says. “I already don’t even want to know the answer.”
“$500,” Mulder answers.
“Suffering from tuberculosis and alcoholism, this dentist turned gunslinger died in a sanitarium at the age of 36.”
“Who is Doc Holliday,” Scully answers.
“Who is Bat Master..dammit!” Mulder replies just a beat behind her.
“You should’ve known that one.”
“It was the first thing that popped into my head. What’s the damage?”
“We’re tied.”
“All right, next round, it’s getting serious.”
“Prepare to pay for a large vegetarian with extra olives.”
“Ugh, vegetables on pizza is the antithesis to the point of pizza.”
“And what is the point of pizza?”
“All the pepperoni you can handle and then add in some sausage for good measure.”
“You’re a heart attack waiting to happen, Mulder. When was the last time you had your cholesterol checked?”
“In May, actually. Fit as a fiddle. Here we go, round 2.”
“...categories are: Before & After, Science, Word Origins, Potpourri, The Body Human, and finally, Astronomy. ”
The contestants seem fixated on Potpourri and Before & After, to Mulder’s relief. He isn’t ready for Scully to completely smoke him in the Science and The Body Human categories. He figures if he can do well enough in the first two, he might be able to hold firm and maybe they might get to Astronomy where he can make a comeback. Sure enough, she responds so quickly in the first two Science answers he can’t even get a word out.
“Born this year, a sheep named this introduced the world to cloning.”
“Dolly!” Mulder yells, too excited about knowing a Science question he forgets to phrase it properly.
“Who is Dolly,” Scully corrects.
“Dammit!”
“Your rules.”
“I know, I know. Still, dammit.”
Blessedly, the contestants leave Science and migrate to Astronomy and since the first answer is the planet nicknamed The Red Planet, a Jeopardy equivalent of low-hanging fruit, they stick with it. The first Daily Double of the 2nd round hits them at the $800 question in Astronomy.
“I’m up by $1,600,” Scully says. “You have $3,900.”
“I’m going to make it a true Daily Double.”
“Seriously?”
“Yes.”
“$600,” Scully says, after a few moments hesitation.
Mulder worries his bottom lip with his teeth and waits for the answer to come.
“This spiral galaxy is named for an Ethiopian princess in Greek Mythology.”
“What is Andromeda!” They both yell.
Mulder realizes he’s sweating after the last question and even though it paid off, he vows not to make that kind of gamble again. Scully berates herself for not being more confident in her astronomy knowledge as she now trails Mulder by $1,700, which may or may not be easy to recover from.
Time runs out before all the clues are revealed and the 2nd Daily Double is never found. By final Jeopardy, they’re nearly neck and neck, with Mulder at $9,100 and Scully at $8,500.
“The final category is: Computers.”
“Good thing The Gunmen aren’t here,” Mulder says. “Gimme one of those sheets of paper and we can write our wagers and guesses like the others.”
Scully rips off a piece of paper and they both take nearly all of the commercial break to come up with their wagers. Scully folds her paper in half with the wager face down. Mulder turns his over and places it on the bed.
“And here we go with the final answer. Born in 1815, this daughter of a famous poet published an algorithm for a mechanical calculator and is believed by some to be the first ever computer programmer.”
Mulder writes his answer immediately and Scully taps her pen against her teeth as the final Jeopardy music winds down. She finally picks up her paper and memorializes her guess before the final note.
“Whatcha got?” Mulder asks.
“I want to see their answers first,” Scully replies.
Mulder bounces his knee in anticipation. The contestant in 3rd place answers incorrectly with Dora Wordsworth, but only wagered $1.
“I hate when they do that,” Scully says. “It’s not The Price is Right.”
“Listen, if the category was Nuclear Physics, I might only be waging $1 as well.”
“Too bad it wasn’t.”
The contestant in 2nd place also answers incorrectly with “Who is ____?” and ends up with $4500. Mulder shakes his head.
“At least put something,” he says.
“Seriously,” Scully agrees.
“And now Judith, our three day champion, currently in the lead with $13,800. What did she guess? Who is Ada Lovelace? Daughter of Lord Byron, known for her work on Charles Babbage’s Analytical Engine, August Ada King, Countess of Lovelace, or Ada Lovelace. And how much did Judith wager? $7,000, bringing her three day total to $65,941.”
“Alright, Scully, moment of truth.”
“Count of three?” she asks.
“Is that one, two, reveal? Or one, two, three, reveal?”
“One, two, reveal.”
“Okay. One, two…”
They both turn their papers around. Both answered Who is Ada Lovelace? They both grin.
“Frohike would be so tickled with your familiarity with the mother of computer programming,” Mulder says.
“Yeah? How does he feel about your familiarity with her?”
“Pretty jealous, actually.”
“What was your wager?”
Mulder turns over the paper again to show her. “$3,000. You?”
Scully bites her lip a little and then flips the fold of her paper for Mulder to see. “$8,000.”
“$8,000!”
“Go big or go home, right?”
“Damn, Scully. You’re a monster. In a good way, obviously. But, damn. So, I guess that vegetarian is on me.”
“Extra olives.”
“With extra olives.” He grimaces and gets up to grab the Yellow Pages in the nightstand.
Scully opens up her file folders and begins sorting the reports for review across the end of Mulder’s bed as he searches for a pizza parlor. He’s on the phone fairly quickly after browsing the phone book.
“Yes, I’d like to place an order for delivery,” Mulder says. “A large. Vegetarian.”
“Half vegetarian,” Scully interrupts without looking up. “Half pepperoni and sausage.”
“Sorry, half vegetarian, half pepperoni and sausage. Extra olives on the vegetarian side, please. Yeah, I’ll hold.” Mulder drops the phone to his shoulder while hold music plays and smiles slightly. “Scully, you interested in a rematch tomorrow night?”
“Depends on how interested you are in buying another pizza.”

Spideypool Bingo Round 3 FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
When and How Can I Share My Card?
You may share your card as soon as you receive it on whichever social media platform you choose.
Please wait to share any creations you make from your card until the Posting Period has opened (either July 1 or January 1, depending on which round of Bingo you are participating in).
Can I cross off items on my bingo card as I complete them once posting begins?
Yes, absolutely! In fact, I encourage you to! That’s an excellent visual way to keep track of where you are in completing bingo, and it’s super satisfying every time you complete a project and get to cross a square off!
What counts towards completing a square?
A piece of fiction that is 300 words or more and is complete.
A completed sketch, painting, watercolor, etc.
A Mood Board, aesthetic collage, manip, or other image editing that fits the prompt and represents at least an hour’s work.
Music playlist with a header (can be as simple or elaborate as you wish) and at least 10 songs. Can be shared through Spotify or other music streaming service as long as it is shareable through tumblr or twitter.
Themed fic rec list with a header (can be as simple or elaborate as you wish) and annotations. Annotations should include commentary on how you approached creating the list and a note on each story recced, explaining why you’ve included it. Each rec list should have at least 8 stories linked and should include a summary and a listed author with a link to their AO3 profile or other social media (if the work has not been orphaned or posted anonymously) for each listed rec.
Podfic of a story no shorter then 900 words
Photograph(s) of Funko pops or other toy representations of Spider-Man, Deadpool, and associates acting out a scene that represents a square (Ex: Knitpool, Avengergram).
FanVids: Cosplay or Stop-Motion Animation Videos, Clip Music Videos, AMVs, Animatics, Fake Trailers, etc. Videos should have a run time of at least 2 minutes and be shareable on the blog.
I’m in multiple Bingos. Can I make something for both events at once?
As long as the thing you are creating for your Spideypool Bingo follows the rules of this fest and only counts as ONE square on your Spideypool Card, it is acceptable to have that same thing count as a different square on a Kink Bingo or Fluff Bingo, or whatever other Bingo you’re in. Make sure to check the rules of the other event(s), though. Not all Bingos allow event crossovers.
If you are using your creation for multiple Bingo events, please make sure to make it clear which square of the Spideypool Bingo card you are filling separately from any other Bingo event. Please also do not include the other Bingo’s information on your submitted post for the Spideypool Bingo blog (meaning if you are posting card updates with your submission, do not include the other card(s) in the post you submit to be promoted on the Spideypool Bingo blog. I don’t mind promoting other events on this blog, but that could easily get confusing for anyone following the blog).
Can I collab with someone else?
Yes and No.
Yes: An artist and a writer have corresponding prompts on their bingo card that they would like to work on together, ie. Crying into Ice Cream. Writer writes a fic involving Crying into Ice Cream, Artist draws a piece of art to coincide with that story. The artist may post their piece with a link to the story, and the writer may embed the piece of art into their story, as long as each person creates something individually that represents their own bingo square, this collab is within the rules.
No: Two artists or two writers create one piece together that they each count towards their own bingo card square.
No: Two people share One bingo card.
This isn’t a competition—and never will be as long as I am running it—but sometimes people get competitive all on their own, and I don’t want any hurt feelings if someone starts thinking that a collab team has an unfair advantage over individual creators in completing bingo faster. It might sound silly to you, but I have seen people become genuinely upset because of this scenario in the past, and I do not want anyone participating in this bingo to feel the same way.
What happens if I never get a bingo?
Absolutely nothing! This is not a competition. You do not have to complete bingo in order to proceed to the next round. If you get a bingo card and never complete a square, you will still be able to participate in the next round, no questions asked, no judgements made. I'm not keeping score of how anyone participates, nor do I want to.
Can I create podfics of other people’s works as long as I have permission from the writer(s)?
Yes, but you need to have proof of the writer(s) permission. As someone who has had their works plagiarized and posted without their permission, I take consent in sharing other people's work very seriously. Make sure you ask and get an enthusiastic consent prior to recording, please.
I don’t understand what ______ is…
Please google the prompt before you ask me what it means. 90% of the prompts people have asked me about have been easily google-able. I don’t mind helping you understand what a prompt means if it's confusing after you've looked it up, but please take that step first.
Changes to your card should be about what makes you uncomfortable, not what you don’t think you can fill Right Now. You have six months to work through your card. A prompt might not spark anything for you now, but come August or October? BAM! Genius idea you would have never thought about if you switched that prompt now. Bingos are just as much about challenging yourself creatively to work outside your normal box as they are about getting you making. Punch your way out of that box, y’all. It’s what Wade would want you to do.
If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to either send an Ask, dm the blog or me personally on discord via MsCaptainWinchester#3164 or email me at [email protected]. Thank you!

LETTERS FROM AN AMERICAN
December 15, 2020
Heather Cox Richardson
There’s not a lot going on today that changes the national story, so this letter is a good one to skip if you’re tired of news.
Coronavirus numbers continue to climb, even as vaccinations are beginning. Josh Kovensky and Kate Riga at Talking Points Memo are following the story that the Trump administration appears to have planned a federal vaccine rollout only until Biden takes office, and then has simply planned to turn the problem over to the states to handle without any funding. This threatens to turn vaccine distribution into chaos, while Trump administration officials are making rosy predictions about how things will go in those early weeks.
Dr. Leana Wen, a former Baltimore city health commissioner and a George Washington University health policy professor, told the TPM reporters: “I just don’t see how it would happen.” Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar has promised that the vaccine will be widely distributed in February and March, but, she said, “That’s an extremely optimistic projection that assumes everything is done perfectly, and when resources are so limited, that perfect execution is nearly impossible.”
Joe Biden continues to move forward with his administration, naming former rival Pete Buttigieg for Secretary of Transportation. Buttigieg, the 38-year-old former mayor of South Bend, Indiana, emerged as a surprisingly popular presidential candidate in 2020, and afterward turned out to be an astonishingly good voice for Democratic policies on the Fox News Channel. (Seriously. Go watch clips.)
But critics note that his experience in public office is limited to his mayorship, and his nomination would throw him at the head of a department of 55,000 employees in service to a president who has vowed extensive infrastructure development—for real, this time. Since he is obviously hungry for national elected office, nerdy about infrastructure, and good in front of the cameras, it’s not clear this is a bad idea. It might be a good way to boost a low-profile department that often goes unappreciated.
Buttigieg ran his presidential campaign on a platform of climate action, and his nomination has already drawn praise from the Sierra Club, the Environmental Defense Fund, and the League of Conservation Voters. If confirmed, he will be the nation’s first openly gay Cabinet member.
Now that the Electoral College has cast the votes that elect Joe Biden to the presidency, Republican senators are acknowledging Biden’s win. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell told other Republican senators not to object to the certification of the Electoral College votes on January 6. Doing so would force the rest of the Senate to vote against Trump, infuriating Trump voters, and McConnell hopes to avoid such a vote. Still, Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson and Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) have indicated they might be willing to join House Republicans in challenging the votes.
Tomorrow, the Senate Homeland Security Committee, which Johnson chairs, will hold an oversight hearing on what he says are the irregularities in the 2020 election. Courtrooms, where lawyers bear penalties for lying, have turned up no irregularities. The Senate hearing will have much more latitude, and its first witness is Republican operative Kenneth W. Starr, so it is almost certainly going to consist of rumors and assumptions rather than any evidence to which the witnesses could swear under oath.
The White House continues to refuse to acknowledge Trump’s loss. White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany today said simply that “The president is still involved in ongoing litigation related to the election. Yesterday’s vote was one step in the constitutional process.”
The lies about the election spread by Trump and his loyalists are radicalizing Republican true believers, according to security officials and terrorism researchers. They worry that fringe conspiracy theories are going mainstream. Polls suggest that 77% of Trump supporters believe that Biden stole the election—although there is no evidence of fraud—and officials worry those true believers are turning to violence.
Elizabeth Neumann, who resigned from her job as Assistant Secretary for Threat Prevention and Security Policy at the Department of Homeland Security in April out of concerns that Trump was exacerbating right-wing violence, noted that “the conservative infotainment sector makes money off… outrage.” Kori Schake, director of foreign and defense policy studies at the American Enterprise Institute, who was a senior adviser in the State Department, Defense Department, and the National Security Council, agreed with others that Trump is promoting radicalism by spreading conspiracies and disinformation. "Leadership matters," she said. "It really matters that the president of the United States is an arsonist of radicalization. And it will really help when that is no longer the case."
In Houston, Texas, today, police arrested a former police department captain for running a man off the road and pointing a gun at his head in a misguided attempt to foil a massive voter fraud scheme. Sixty-three-year-old Mark Anthony Aguirre claimed to be part of a citizens’ group investigating voter fraud. Believing his victim was hiding 750,000 fraudulent ballots in his truck, Aguirre rammed the truck with his SUV and held the driver first at gunpoint and then with his knee in the man’s back until police came. Upon inspection, it turned out the truck was full of air conditioning parts. The district attorney, Kim Ogg, said “His alleged investigation was backward from the start—first alleging a crime had occurred and then trying to prove it happened…. [W]e are lucky no one was killed.”
But power is shifting in Washington. Tonight, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and his wife Susan hosted an indoor holiday party to which they had invited more than 900 guests. Only about 70 people responded to the invitation and even fewer showed up to what public health officials warned could be a superspreader event. In the past, the party has drawn 200-300 people, but the combination of a pandemic and the waning days of the administration meant the event had little attraction. Pompeo’s name was on the invitation and he was scheduled to speak, but he canceled and sent someone else.

Check It Out: Here Are 23 Of Your Favorite Bands’ Favorite Skaters
Today is a big day in both the skating and video game world. In case you didn’t hear: The man, the myth, the legend Tony Hawk has just dropped a highly anticipated remake of his iconic Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 and 2 games.
Giving the classic 1999 and 2000 gems a fresh facelift for a newer generation, skaters and gamers all around the world will have the chance to bust out 900s and McTwists while chasing insane combos and listening to one of the best gaming soundtracks ever compiled.
To help celebrate today’s huge moment, we thought it’d be fun to reach out to some of our favorite artists and see who some of their all-time favorite professional skaters are.
To check out what members of Neck Deep, State Champs, Thrice, nothing, nowhere and more had to say about skaters like Daewon Song, Mike Vallely, Mike Carroll and more be sure to look below.
BEN BARLOW - NECK DEEP
Eric Koston
youtube
I think what I love about Koston is that he doesn’t take himself seriously at all. He’s very self-deprecating and loves skateboarding for what it is, good fun. I met him at skatepark in Tampa once. We were playing a show next door and it was the warmups for the Tampa Pro the next day. Koston was just goofing around, emanating a very good vibe. He’s a great example that you don’t need to be SOTY to be one of the best.
Ishod Wair
youtube
Ishod has it all. He can skate street or transition. He can be tech or go big. His style is super clean but he can rough it up too. When you watch one of his video parts it’s never the same sort of tricks over and over, it’s a lot of variation in how and what he skates. He can do anything and do it well. His attitude is always pretty care free and easy going and [he] seems a lot of fun to be around. For me he’s one of the best in the world.
Jamie Foy
youtube
I like Foy because he came out of nowhere. He doesn’t look like he’d be able to send it down some of the biggest handrails you’ve ever seen, but he will, and he’ll usually do it to an insane level of difficulty. His determination on tricks is crazy, he can take some big slams on big spots and still get up and keep going. The year he got SOTY and was on King Of The Road was great to watch. All the gnarly/difficult challenges got soaked up by him and he’s constantly upping himself and surprising people with what he does next.
Evan Smith
youtube
Evan is one of the skaters I discovered more recently. I first saw him on King of The Road and immediately loved his style. Like Jamie Foy, there are times where you don’t expect him to pull out the tricks he does on the spots he does. I love his super loose style and the freedom of expression in his skating and he seems like a great guy to be around, always keeping the vibe strong and pushing the skaters around him to land a trick. He almost seems more stoked when one of his friends lands something then when he does!
Luan Olivera
youtube
Luan for me is one of the best in the world right now and it’s all down to his style. He really is the embodiment of ’steeze.’ Every flip trick, no matter how difficult, looks like the board is magnetically stuck to his feet. He does everything with speed and conviction and watching him is like watching the flip trick textbook in action. As a skater I’ve always been drawn to learning flip tricks and doing flip tricks on spots so watching him is a great way to get pumped up to skate.
DEREK DISCANIO - STATE CHAMPS
Andrew Reynolds
youtube
As far as legacy skaters go, Reynolds was always a favorite. He came to my town with the Emerica team for a demo when I was 12 and I remember being so psyched.
Daewon Song
youtube
The technical master. One of a kind with his manual combos and transition skill. Still killing it after decades.
Luan Olivera
youtube
Luan has THE best style in the game. Love watching him and how easy he makes everything look.
Chris Joslin
youtube
This guy is the future. He racks up insane clips constantly and is making his mark in the competitive scene too. Also a great follow on instagram. Milton Martinez
youtube
2019 Thrasher Skater Of The Year. Watch his “Demolicíon” part and thank me later.
nothing,nowhere.
Rodney Mullen
youtube
Rodney is the godfather of modern street skating. He’s created more tricks than anyone else and is the epitome of creativity. I used to watch his videos every day after school, especially his videos on Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater.
Chad Muska
youtube
Chad brought straight up style into skating; the muskalade, muska beats, and the boom box... I used to look on CCS magazine for Shorty’s shirts so I could look like Chad. A true legend and role model.
Daewon Song
youtube
Daewon is as tech as it gets. I used to watch the “Cheese and Crackers” video every day. He and Chris Haslam inspired me to skate transition more and today it’s all I skate. His Instagram is bananas too, he’s still ripping.
Mike Vallely
youtube
I used to be the only kid at the skatepark throwing boneless 360s off of the launch ramp. I wanted to be Mike V so bad! His show Drive on Fuel TV makes me cry whenever I watch it now because it’s so nostalgic. I’ll never forget when he signed my element shirt at Warped Tour 2007.
Mark Gonzales
youtube
Gonz is pure expression in human form. He paved the way for so many skateboarders and he always thought outside of the box. His art is insane as well, I’m still on the hunt for some OG prints from him.
ED BRECKENRIDGE - THRICE
Jon Dickson
youtube
Dickson has the ability to make any trick look like an epic, slow-mo, roll-the-credits clip. His style and power is unmatched and he truly embodies the origins of street skateboarding with the progression of modern day.
Natas Kaupas
youtube
Natas is such creative inspiration to us all. His efforts helped influence street skating with creativity, progression, and challenging what is possible on a piece of wood and wheels using the environment around us.
TEPPEI TERANISHI - THRICE
Mike Carroll
youtube
Favorites... it’s such a dreaded question for me but if I were to go for an all-time fave, it just might be Mike Carroll. I started skating in the early/mid nineties and he was the cream of the crop. Such style, such a technical and choice bag of tricks, and that flick! Virtual Reality, Penal Code, Goldfish, Mouse, heck, even his part in Questionable...classics!
Franky Villani
youtube
One of my favorite skateboarders at the moment would definitely be Franky Villani. The dude can do it all—crazy technical, big rails, gaps—and does it all with a super unique style that’s somehow equal parts fun and heavy.
JIMMY WIZARD - HIGHER POWER
Jake Johnson
youtube
Just straight up solid style and creativity.
Mike Carrol
youtube
Makes skateboarding look so easy his Modus Operandi part is effortless style and he seems like a funny character.
Vincent Huhta
youtube
I love watching this guy skate. Can’t wait to see more footage. He is the most relaxed man on a skateboard ever .
Chad Muska
youtube
So creative and inspiring off the skateboard and growing up playing THPS seeing his footage through that game was life changing, for sure.

Meme (with corrections)
I was tagged by the lovely @cloud--atlas. And so I copied her piece, with the intention of inserting my own answers. But there were a couple of places I overlooked, leaving her answers in place... OOPS. I fixed one before people read the post but didn’t notice another, so I just decided to delete the original and repost the corrected version. APOLOGIES!!
AO3 name: AlphaFlyer
Fandoms:
The Avengers (Marvel Movies) (59)
Marvel Cinematic Universe (49)
Star Trek: Voyager (30)
Hawkeye (Comics) (10)
The Avengers (Marvel) - All Media Types (8)
Captain America (Movies) (7)
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (TV) (5)
James Bond (Craig movies) (4)
Guardians of the Galaxy (Movies) (3)
Thor (Movies) (2)
Black Widow (Comics) (1)
Ant-Man (Movies) (1)
Avengers (Comics) (1)
Note that most of these (like James Bond, Agents of SHIELD) tend to be crossovers with MCU.
Number of fics published:
AO3 tells me it’s 101, but “Moments” has like 32 distinct fic in it, so it’s more like 132.
Fic I spent the most time on:
Do long periods of inactivity allowing it to simmer in your subconscious count? That would be my two-season MarvelBang, “Seventh Crow”, which I started in the spring of 2015 and finished in the fall of 2016, mostly because of an intervening transatlantic move and family issues, resulting in resolute inability to write. Until my friend Inkvoices made me a fanvid, based on what she knew about the story, and sent it to me for Christmas.
Fic I spent the least time on:
That would be a tie between Savile Row and Five Times SHIELD Tried to Recruit Clint Barton. The first I cranked out over an evening, based on a tag game on LJ; the latter I wrote longhand in a boat while my husband and daughter were fishing, and then typed out/edited it in the evening.
Longest fic:
The top 5 spots are all taken up by Star Trek:Voyager fic, with #1 going to Off the Shoulder of Orion with a word count of 78,804. That was around the time when I started posting chapters before having finished a story, a gamble that ended up backfiring when I ran out of steam on “Proof of Life” (FFN only, so I won’t link to it here.)
Shortest fic:
Among the fic posted on their own, rather than in my Moments collection, that’s a tie between 3 Five-Plus-One fics, in all of which the individual segments are drabble length at 100 words each. The only difference between the three is the length of the author’s note, otherwise they’re exactly 600 words apiece.
Most hits:
Second Mouse, with 38,678 hits (unless you include FFN, where Skies Over Manhattan comes in at 49,169 - but that site counts individual chapter hits. “Skies” is second on AO3 with 23,579).
Most kudos:
Skies Over Manhattan, with 899. (Yo, Folks, can we get that to 900 plsntx.. :P)
Most comment threads:
Moments, at 253 (This is my 32-chapter ficlet collection, so people tend to comment on each chapter as it comes out). For a single story that came out all at once, it’s that energizer bunny MarvelBang, Second Mouse, with 103.
Most bookmarks:
Runaway winner is Skies Over Manhattan, with 330. Followed by Second Mouse with 208. Five Times SHIELD Tried to Recruit Clint Barton, In The Service and Double Deuce are in a virtual tie for third with 137, 136 and 135.
Total word count:
According to AO3, 980,381. Whoops. Seriously???
Favourite fic I wrote:
Oh, man. I hate that question. I'm really pleased with how Second Mouse turned out - nothing but good memories from my collaboration with Inkvoices who illustrated it; also pleased with the sequels and the reception it got from readers. And @hawksandspiders just did a detailed analysis of it on her DW account, which was totally thrilling and made me even prouder of it.
Another little one I’m quite fond of is my Voyager piece “Grace”, because of the rhythm and cadence I used to convey the sense of urgency in the story (a lot fewer people read it...).
Fic you want to rewrite/expand on:
Whoops - so an earlier version of this post left in a clip from @cloud--atlas‘ original post that I cut and pasted... No, I did NOT write “Red Star” although it’s one of the few threesome fics I genuinely like! Here’s my answer:
“Choices”. My very first fanfic ever. First ever attempt at writing, in fact. It’s a post-ST Voyager Endgame thing, detailing what happens to the crew (specifically Tom Paris but others as well) when they come home. It still holds up content-wise, but the dialogue is clunky in parts and the paragraphing atrocious. I haven’t had the guts to go back in and fix it, because it is my Firstborn and we need to own our mistakes and show how we’ve grown as writers somehow (also it’s in the top-5 Voyager stories on FFN in terms of “favourite” pings as it is, so it should probably be allowed to stand on its own). But whenever I look at it, I cringe a little at how much better it could be.
Share a bit of a WIP or a story idea you’re planning on:
Three words: Clint and Flerken. I keep rewriting that one though, so I’m not sure when it will see the light of day...
Also waiting for my @be-compromised “Remix” assignment!

— — —
The rest of the week passed in a horrendous blur of late nights at the station, takeaway food and a never-ending pile of case files.
Each day you and Connor worked through a pile, only for more reports to come in the next morning. It truly felt like fighting an uphill battle. But no matter how much you searched for some sort of link, a common denominator, there was nothing. Seemingly random chance but you knew that it couldn't be that simple. Deviancy was spreading at an astronomical rate throughout the city, the severity of the cases getting progressively more serious as well.
With that troubling thought in mind, you loaded another clip into your newly assigned gun, taking aim at the paper target in front of you. Holding your breath, you pulled the trigger, feeling the slight recoil of the gun as the clip emptied. Pulling down the noise cancelling headphones around your neck, you glanced at Connor who observed you silently.
“You’re a good shot,” he acknowledged with a nod before adding, “for a human.”
“Smartass.”
You couldn't help but chuckle, lazily twisting out a kink in your shoulder. He was quiet today, a troubled sort of air around him that made you invite him to target practice in the first place. It wasn’t easy to read Connor; there was a sliver of ice in his every interaction, but he had gotten better over the course of the week. Less cold and detached. Or so you thought.
Apparently, androids could have bad days too.
“What is it?” you asked gently, casting a long, searching look his way.
For a long moment, he was silent, eyes coldly focused on the bullet-ridden target. “I am frustrated with Lieutenant Anderson for not taking this investigation seriously.”
You looked away, soundlessly taking out the empty clip from the gun. “He’s not a bad man,” you pointed out carefully.
And he wasn't. It was easy to see that something haunted Hank; something was suffocating him from inside out, a deadly weight of heaviness in his every step. Whatever it was that he was going through was killing him slowly and meticulously. You could recognise that anywhere. Yes, he was harsh, and his apparent hatred for all androids was frankly ridiculous, but you didn't think he was a bad person.
Just lost. Like so many were.
“No, he is not,” Connor agreed his voice still a little tenser than you were used to, “But I do not believe that personal trauma should be allowed to impact this investigation or my mission.”
Putting the safety back on, you placed the gun back on the bench with a little more force than necessary. “Connor,” you began tightly. “Humans—we, it can be hard sometimes. We’re complicated and messy. We feel a thousand and two things at once. Sometimes we just need time and patience to find ourselves, okay? Lieutenant may still surprise you.”
You saw his jaw tick as he finally turned to look at you. It still made the nerves at the back of your neck tingle to be looked at that way; a burning, unnerving sort of focus that felt more like a physical touch. Like he was trying to touch you through a look alone. It had gotten easier to ignore, or so you told yourself shifting from one foot to another.
“I apologise,” he started a little softer, “My programming dictates that I must always try and achieve optimum success on my missions. I had not anticipated this sort of...setback.”
“We’re doing the best we can right now,” you explained simply. “Besides we haven’t actually been called in yet. Hank will have no choice but to be there if we do. Your mission is fine.”
Connor nodded thoughtfully, still processing your words as you picked up your gun once more. “Come on, you promised that you’ll turn me into a master marksman.”
Tension seemed to vanish from the sharp edges of his shoulders at your light tone. He took a measured step towards you, his fingers gripping the elbow of your shooting arm. “You should hold your arm at a slight angle, like this,” he elucidated bluntly, moving your arm accordingly. “Relax your grip until the gun fires. Statistically speaking you should be able to hit 9/10 shots this way if not under duress.”
“I don’t know many situations where you would want to fire a gun when not under duress,” you told him jokingly.
“How about now?” he questioned mildly, his eyebrows raised.
Choking down a laugh that was threatening to spill out, you elbowed him with a wry grin.
“Smartass,” you repeated with more emphasis.
The remainder of tension melted from his face at your teasing words, and just for a moment, you could have sworn you saw him smile.
—x—x—
You returned to your desk twenty minutes later, Connor diligently by your side, as you ignored the looks and the whispers that followed you both. You could still remember how others had looked at Connor on your first day here. Now those looks were directed at you both. Your involvement with him and Bob from the reception had spread through the station.
Like the fact that you didn’t treat androids like subhumans made you a social pariah to be avoided and shunned.
Frankly, you couldn't care less about narrow-minded and shallow people who didn’t bother to look beyond their own prejudices.
If that meant the closest thing you had to a friend at work—this entire city, in fact—was an android, that was fine with you. Connor was fascinating to talk to anyway, even if he still lacked social grace at times.
“Would you like me to get you a glass of water?”
Turning to look at the android in question you frowned, “You don’t have to Connor.”
The last thing you wanted was for him to feel like he had to serve you in some way. Connor tilted his head to one side in that familiar pensive manner. “Lieutenant seems to appreciate you leaving him painkillers at his desk, and taking into consideration what we discussed earlier I would like to help.”
It was true. You’ve gotten into a habit of leaving Hank aspirin for his hangovers. A glass of water was just an added touch for your own sake, watching Hank swallow those tablets dry still made you cringe inwardly. The first time he found painkillers on his desk he had turned to stare at you with a deep, troubled sort of look before grunting a forceful ‘thanks’ and taking them without another word.
You hummed under your breath, lips twitching upwards. “Only if you want to,” you told him slowly.
There was a brief but sudden flare of yellow against his temple before Connor turned away from you, heading towards the coffee area.
Staring at your computer for a long moment, you finally got to work, ignoring of other officers and detectives around you. When another five minutes passed without Connor returning, you paused, glancing towards the coffee area again. The room was barely visible from your desk but you could still see Connor inside the room, a vaguely familiar man in front of him. Even from the distance, you could read the aggressive way the man held himself, speaking something harshly. When you saw him push Connor’s shoulder hard, you nearly flew out of your chair, immediately hurrying towards the room.
Practically ripping the door open, you ignored everyone else in the room, your attention on the android, “Connor,” you called swiftly, his attention immediately turning to you. “Are you coming?”
“Well, well,” spoke a somewhat familiar voice. “Came to pick up your pet?”
You walked into the room, the door closing behind you as you turned your attention towards the person who spoke.
Of course, you thought with annoyance.
Of course, it just had to the redhead from the reception. Clearly, she had nothing better to do than to harass people and androids alike. Dismissing the scornful woman without so much as an acknowledgement, you turned your gaze towards your partner, meeting his silent look with a nod towards the door.
“Come on Connor, we’re leaving.”
The android took a step towards you but the man intervened, looking down at you with contempt.
“So you’re the one I’ve heard so much about,” the man spoke mockingly. “A friend to alll androids. I wonder what kind of human prefers the company of fucking machines to their own people. So what is it then? Do you like to fuck plastic, is that it?”
Giving the man a blank look, you purposely looked towards Connor again. “Let’s go.”
This time the android pushed past the man without a pause. A cold, terrifying sort of calm seemed to have settled on Connor’s face as he came to a stop by your side.
“What an obedient pet,” the redhead crooned and you paused, turning to look at her. She shot you a glare. “What? Am I wrong? It’s nothing.”
You could practically hear your teeth grinding painfully but you forced yourself to look away.
“Don’t turn away from me,” she snapped, taking a step forward. “I asked you a question! It’s nothing more than a machine; plastic and metal, nothing more. It’s not even alive and it never will be.”
“I don’t see why I should answer to someone who can’t even tell an animal and a person apart,” you gritted out, moving towards Connor who began opening the door.
“Person? It’ll be torn apart when its use runs out,” the man snapped in disbelief. “Maybe you’ll go cry over it when it does.”
You snubbed him again, taking a step out of the room.
“I’m not done with you.”
You felt a tight jerk on your arm, pulling you back, and that’s all it took.
Twisting around, you slammed an open palm against the man’s neck making him choke and stumble back. Your leg mercilessly crashed against his knee, bringing him down as you twisted his arm behind his back in one swift and harsh motion, slamming him against the nearest desk. You pushed his twisted arm higher, listening to his sharp exhale of pain and rage. Your other hand rested tightly against the back of his neck, your body weight holding him down.
For a moment nothing in the room stirred before the other two women moved towards you. They managed a step before you felt Connor beside you. You had no idea what they saw on his face, but they stopped immediately before taking a few stumbling steps back.
“Don’t ever mistake my kindness for weakness,” you snarled coldly. “And if you ever lay another hand on me, or Connor for that matter, I will break them.”
You twisted his hand higher and he yelped in pain, “You—I’ll—”
“You’ll what?” you countered, leaning closer to see his flushed face. “Go cry to the Captain about how someone supposedly weaker than you put you on your stomach in ten seconds after you bullied them and physically engaged first?”
The man didn’t reply, trying to wiggle out of your hold before you twisted his arm again, making him stop with a groan.
“No, I don’t think you will,” you stated more calmly. “See, I know men like you, and something tells me that your fragile little ego wouldn't survive it.”
Giving him another shove, you stood up, almost bumping into Connor who was right behind you. His gaze was focused on the man still breathing heavily against the desk. There was nothing forgiving about the expression on his face, an almost foreign coldness shifting his muscles into something remorseless.
Ignoring everyone else in the room, you grabbed Connor’s elbow, sharply turning him toward the door. You slammed the door open, hurriedly dragging the android outside. He easily kept pace with you as you pulled him aimlessly with you. The silence between you was strained and it was only when you managed to find an empty corridor that you let go of him.
Clenching your fingers, you ignored his intense stare, pacing back and forth for a few moments.
“You’re angry,” he proclaimed suddenly with something like surprise in his voice, freezing you in your tracks.
You ran a hand through your hair; an agitated sort of gesture that made your anger spark anew.
“Yeah, yeah that’s a good observation,” you breathed harshly. “I wish I decked them all before I left. Assholes.”
“I have never observed you angry,” he supplied by the way of explanation. “You’re a highly expressive person (Name), and I have learned much from you. But anger is...unusual.”
Pure embarrassment crashed over you so quickly you almost forgot your anger. “W-What? Please tell me you’re joking.”
He gave you something that almost resembled a teasing look, “Why would I be joking? Do you suggest I rather take tips from the Lieutenant on emotional functions instead?”
Ignoring his attempt to change the subject, you leaned against the nearby wall, staring at him for a moment, “Are you okay?”
Connor turned to face you patiently, and you were momentarily caught off guard by that rebellious strand of hair on his forehead that never stayed still.
“I am an android (Name),” he began warily. “I do not feel pain. He could do no damage to me.”
“That’s not the point,” was your tight retort. “No one has the right to touch you unless you want them to. No one, not ever. Or to say those things about you regardless what you’re made of.”
Indicator flickering different colours yet again, he stared at you for a long moment before finally blinking a few times. “I see. Nevertheless, detective Reed is likely to hold a grudge from now on.”
You snorted derisively. “And I could care less. He’s nothing more than a bully.”
Together you stood in silence for a few more minutes, not saying anything but not moving either. Thankfully the silence was no longer so dense, and you felt yourself slowly beginning to relax. Exhaling quietly through the mouth, you closed your eyes, trying to force out the anger still lingering beneath your skin.
After a few moments, you finally opened your eyes, meeting Connor’s mute stare and nodded your head towards the busy station. “Coming?”
He walked up to you in silence.
“Yes,” was his mild reply. “I’m coming with you.”
—x—x—
“Okay, show me again,” you said with a laugh. “But slower. Much slower.”
Connor’s hands were graceful and fluid as he slowly twisted the coin between his fingers. You stared intently, your own coin in hand, waiting to copy his moves. Watching raptly, you balanced the coin on your fingertip before it clumsily began its journey down your hand. But just like the last few times, it got stuck between your middle and ring finger before plopping noisily on the desk.
You groaned, smothering your face in your hands. “I give up! It’s hopeless. My fingers are too dumb.”
“It’s not that,” he argued patiently. “You just need practice.”
You peeked at him through your fingers, noting the gentle crinkle around his eyes as he fiddled with his coin.
Something had changed since yesterday. If Connor had been frustrated before—how little of it he did show—today he seemed tenser. The entire morning was spent with him looking up sharply at every sudden noise or shifting whenever someone walked past your desk. You hoped that asking him to show you some of his coin tricks would distract him at least momentarily.
Lowering your hands from your face, you took a moment to really look at him.
Even though it was lunchtime at the station and there was plenty of commotion all around you, there was a sense of detachment from Connor. Like he was the one thing in this space that didn’t quite belong. It was an odd feeling considering he was hardly the only android around.
“It’s precious to you,” you spoke without realising, watching the familiar, amiable way he handled the coin.
“Precious?” he repeated slowly.
Nodding your head, you smiled faintly at him. “Yeah, precious. It’s something so dear to you, you don’t want to live without it. It invokes this feeling of, um, attachment. Like it’s really, really important to you.”
You suddenly weren’t sure what to make of his expression. There was a strange mix of pensive sort of grimness on his face. Since he was sitting on your right you couldn't see his indicator either. His fingers closed around the metal piece in his hand tightly, and you almost jumped when his attention snapped to you far too quickly to come off as human.
“Connor?” you whispered in alarm, suddenly terrified that maybe he was damaged yesterday after all.
“Hope you two are nice and rested,” a voice abruptly spoke behind you. “We just got called in.”
Turning in your seat, you blinked at Hank who was walking up to you, a case file in hand.
“That’s impossible Lieutenant,” Connor responded briskly. “I would have gotten an alert if a new case came in.”
You glanced at him from the corner of your eye, shifting uneasily at the once again neutral and calm expression on his face.
Hank shot him an irritated look. “It just came in, genius,” he grunted stiffly. “It hasn’t been added to the database yet.”
“I see.”
Hank closed his eyes as if asking God for strength.
“Well good because it’s time to see what you two are made of.”

an: anyone else really want to know what’s the deal with Connor’s coin? I need a backstory on that asap. Part of me wants to give it a backstory myself and another part of me is like “nope, what if they do a dlc and show it??” *sigh* I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter! Next up we’ll have an original case (i’m nervous lol) before we start the canon stuff (and yes the timeline is wonky). Your love is, as always, greatly appreciated! <3

My question now is which of the two programs Hitfilm PRO or Davinci Resolve STUDIO are ahead in the respective points and for what the programs can generally be recommended. That's when I finally came across Hitfilm and Davinci Resolve, because they have processing and effects in one.Ībove all, I want the best ofs with a few effects, gaming videos and films I am currently looking for an editing program.
#Adobe after effects magic bullet looks plugin download movie
Is there a free option or is it possible with my video editing program Davinci Resolve? Hit movie or Davinci Resolve?
#Adobe after effects magic bullet looks plugin download how to
I have a Stinger Transition but don't know how to make it transparent in the background without After Effects. can I make cooler effects there? I like to do Star Wars effects :) and is it easier than DAVINCI? Alpha background for OBS? Now I wonder if Adope is worth it and etc. At the moment I am using the free edition of DAVINCI resolve. I'm considering accepting the Black Friday offer for the Creative Cloud (student price) - I cut clips as a hobby and love VFX effects. There are Form Magic Bullet Looks RSMB S_Blue S_Glow S_Shake S_Warpbubble and Twitch what about it and why doesn't it work? I'm a newcomer to Adobe I just downloaded it today. Hello dear community, I recently wanted to download an intro template and I did it you needed Cinema 4D and After Effects at Cinema 4D everything worked, everything went changed, when I wanted to do the Adobe After Effects part came 8 Missing effects when I went in. What are the basic advantages of Affter Effects over Davinci Resolve or vice versa red giant or rsmb?Ĭan someone tell me more precisely what they are for and which of the two is better? use Adobe after effects (I'm still a beginner) Thank you in advance Adobe After Effects missing effects? when I try to open Magic Bullet Looks in Ae I get this message (see picture) Can someone help me? Adobe After Effects vs Davinci Resolve 16? when I try to open Magic Bullet Looks in Ae I get this message (see picture) Can someone help me?Īdobe After Effects Magic Bullet Looks does not work. LG Adobe After Effects Magic Bullet Looks does not work. Has anyone evt what virus is free and can send me the link? I'm looking forward to an answer. Hello I've been looking for the two plugins for After Effects and Sony Vegas for a long time! Only when I look at YT can I only find which ones have viruses and I'm still desperate because I can't find anything! For After Effects / Sony Vegas Sapphire Plugin and Magic Bullet Looks crack without viruses?
#Adobe after effects magic bullet looks plugin download Pc
What can I do about it? My pc shouldn't be the problem because it is very expensive. The preview of the videos that I edit hangs or jerks whenever I have done a color grading or something similar. I'm using the free version of davinci resolve 16 Beta and have some performance issues. Thanks in advance Why is the preview jerky with davinci resolve? Could I still cut in 4K with the AMD Ryzen 5 3600? As a GraKa I have a GTX 1660 and 16 GB of RAM. According to the DaVinci Resolve website, you need at least a Ryzen 7. Since I don't have that much money, I'm looking for a € 900 PC. I edit videos and am currently assembling a new PC. Please only seriously intended answers! DaVinci Resolve with AMD Ryzen 5 3600? Now my question: is it really virus-free? And does it really work? I then watched a tutorial on Youtube and saw that everyone only download this plugin from the Red Giant site. I discovered the Magic Bullet Looks plugin and wanted to download it right away. Hey, yesterday I downloaded After Effects CS6 and wanted to add a few plugins to it. It is best to have a look at the websites of the plugin providers.Īfter effects magic bullet looks virus-free? Pure assumption: There may be different versions of these plugins, depending on what you use as the "main program". These are two completely different programs !! You can't just use the plugins from one program in another Plugins: Sapphire, Magic Bullet looks, Red giant universe and the Rsmb twitxtor plugin However, I noticed that my plugins that I have still used davinci are not there.

Just looking at healing & damage potential for the heroes in Overwatch, for fun so don’t expect it to be completely accurate
Don’t take these too seriously. Although most of what is here are actual facts, I did a few additional maths (I’m not really a math person, so, if there are errors, that is why; I’m kinda a “right-brain” kind of person). These are more of a “use up all your ammo and abilities once” kind of situation. I did not include self-healing when it came to healing, mostly because I forgot a few heroes can and now I’m too tired to add them.
I don’t know the “headshot damage” of each hero who can headshot is, so, if anyone knows, comment, or send me a message, and I’ll add them.
*Edit: fixed a few errors I noticed
