He finds Lancelot quickly and by pure luck. Rather, he runs around a corner and slams into the heavily distracted knight. Merlin, mercifully, manages to clutch at the wall and remain upright. Lancelot, on the other hand, falls out flat on his back.
“I’m so sorry,” Merlin gasps as he scrambles forward to help Lancelot back onto his feet. The knight takes his hand and rises unsteadily, blinking dazedly. “I’m so sorry, are you alright?”
“Fine, fine,” Lancelot says, still blinking. “Thank you.”
Merlin pauses, brows furrowing. “For running you over?”
“Hm?” Lancelot shakes his head, and the daze seems to clear. Mostly. “For helping me up.”
A pause.
“Where were you going, anyway? You’re running as though the castle was on fire.” Another pause. “It’s not, is it?”
“The castle’s fine,” Merlin says, taking Lancelot’s hand again and turning back toward Gaius’ chambers. “I was looking for you, actually! I have something to show you.”
“What is it?”
“You’ll just have to wait and see.”
Lancelot sighs, but gives in easily as he is dragged along. “You concern me greatly, my friend.”
“I know,” Merlin replies.
When the pair reaches the physician’s chambers, they are blessedly empty, and Merlin drops Lancelot’s hand to clasp his own together, bouncing on his heels and grinning wildly.
“It’s in my room,” he says, then adds, at Lancelot’s wary glance at his door, “it’s nothing bad. Mostly. Probably.”
Lancelot stares at Merlin for a few long moments, long enough that Merlin can’t help but shuffle from one foot to another.
“It’s nothing bad.”
“I’m sure.” He sighs, shutting his eyes for a moment, then reopens them with the faintest hint of a smile on his face. “Well, let’s see, then.”
Merlin hesitates, mind conjuring far too many scenarios of Aithusa having caused irreparable damage during his time absent. He glances Lancelot up and down, taking note of the persistent exhaustion that drags at him despite the past couple days without duties.
“Maybe this isn’t the right time,” Merlin says. “Are you feeling well? You don’t look it.”
“Thank you, Merlin,” Lancelot replies. “Truly, your compliments are unmatched.”
It’s Merlin’s turn to stare at Lancelot, and he uses every ounce of disapproving physician that’s been trained into him to back it up.
“I am fine, I swear it. Simply tired, is all.” Lancelot gestures to the stairs. “Shall we?”
“Fine.” Though he doubts Lancelot’s assurances, Merlin does want him to re-meet the little not-dragon hidden away. It might even bring a true smile to his face, after the fussing over sanity and safety of keeping a definitely-not-a-magical-creature in the heart of Camelot.
Lancelot trails behind him as he makes his way to his room, and he hesitates once more at the door. More visions of carnage flash across his mind and he suppresses a shudder before carefully pushing the door open.
The room is messy, but only as much so as he’d left it.
He glances from side to side, then up and down. Not a thing out of place.
“Um,” he starts. “Hello?”
“Hello?” Lancelot echoes behind him, hushed.
Merlin doesn’t get a chance to respond to him. Scuffling of claws against the floor announces the presence of a little beast, and suddenly a bleary eyed pup is scrambling out from beneath his bed to greet him.
“Ah!” He bends down to greet her, relief pouring through him. “Woke you up, huh?”
The pup leans against him, content to grumble in complaint while also accepting his petting her back and side. She watches idly as Lancelot stares at her from behind him, brows furrowed and deep in thought.
“That is not a dog,” Lancelot finally settles on. “What am I looking at, Merlin?”
Merlin offers up a grin, but it comes out more as a grimace. There’s no denying it. Lancelot knows, he’s sure, what he’s looking at. Standing at the edge of the realization, denying it in hopes that he may be wrong.
“Lancelot,” he says, and scoops the little beast into his arms as he straightens up. “I’d like you to meet Aithusa. A completely normal, not-at-all-magical pup who was gifted to me in thanks for… something. I’m still working on that part. Here.”
And he promptly dumps the not-a-dragon, just-a-pup into Lancelot’s arms.
Lancelot catches the pup with ease, staring down at her with wide eyes.
“Merlin,” he says, voice strained. “Merlin.”
“Yes?”
“We are in Camelot.”
“Alright?”
Lancelot wheezes.
Merlin leans forward, concerned, but the knight tosses his head back, face to the ceiling for a moment.
“What happened? I thought the Great Dragon was looking after her?” Lancelot asks, eventually. When he can bring himself to look at Merlin again. “What changed?”
After a moment of quiet shuffling and fiddling with his sleeves, Merlin shrugs. “Aithusa kept trying to follow me. Kilgharrah told me she was my problem, and this is the only way I could think of to let her stay.”
When Lancelot doesn’t respond, Merlin keeps speaking. The words tumble out as he watches Aithusa watch Lancelot watch her.
“How could I turn her away? She’s just a little thing! Harmless!”
Visions of dragon fire burning innocents alive are brought violently to the forefront of his mind, consequences of the Great Dragon’s rage. He shakes them off with a visible shudder, and shrugs off Lancelot’s concerned look.
“She’s just a baby,” he continues. “And… and I’ll hardly get to see her, if she’s with Kilgharrah, anyway. It’s gotta be important, surely, to bond with the dragon I called out of its egg, right?”
Still no answer. He glances around the room, then back to Lancelot. His focus narrows to the little beast, and where Lancelot’s arm has curled around her to rub at her stomach.
Aithusa’s squeaky yawn breaks the silence, summoning a pair of quiet laughs and, blessedly, a smile to Lancelot’s face.
It’s small and still so, so tired, but it’s there. Merlin feels his own lips tugging up at the corners at the sight of it.
“How does this work, then?” Lancelot asks, finally. He meets Merlin’s eyes, hand still steadily soothing Aithusa back to sleep in his arms. “This is an illusion, isn’t it? Will it keep up to scrutiny?”
“Well,” Merlin says, “what do you think? If you didn’t know what she was, what would you think of her?”
Silence settles over them again, but it doesn’t press down on his shoulders, doesn’t overwhelm him. It’s comfortable, and Merlin breathes easier as he watches Lancelot. The knight looks back down, his hands running through the fuzzy white-grey fur and gaze focused intently on the little beast’s body, examining her for any fault, any tiny detail that breaks the illusion.
“She’s a pup,” Lancelot decides. “You have outdone yourself, Merlin. I cannot see a single hint that she is not how she seems.”
He looks up, at Merlin, with awe in his eyes.
It’s not entirely unfamiliar. It’s the same look he gave when he watched Merlin use magic for the first time after the griffin, and it’s the same look he gave when Merlin lost himself in a story from when he was young, and it’s the same look he gave when accompanying Merlin on a trip to gather herbs, listening to Merlin list off the herbs they passed and their uses. It’s the same look he gets with alarming frequency, and Merlin glances away as something warm and itchy curls in his chest.
“Good,” he says, something vaguely a grin flashing across his face before settling into something smaller, something tired but content. “Considering how much sleep I lost over it, last night, I’m glad it worked.”
“You should rest, then,” Lancelot tells him, gently scolding, and Merlin scoffs.
“You first,” he says. Then, after a pause, “I’m serious. You look ready to fall over. I bet I could even take you in a sword fight, right now.”
“I’m fine, Merlin. Stop fussing over me, you have a child to fuss over, now.”
“I can very well fuss over both of you, I’ll have you know.”
Sometime later finds Lancelot sprawled onto Merlin’s bed, mouth agape as he snores quietly. Merlin hates that even the man’s snores are endearing.
But what is even more endearing is the pup curled on his chest, paws twitching as she’s caught in a dream.
The combined image of the pair causes Merlin’s throat to tighten as some unnamed emotion grips him. He lingers for a moment longer, soaking in the peaceful little scene, then quietly makes his way out of the room, leaving the two to their well earned rest.

Nevada's Oasis: Gardener
Hello folks. If you guys are curious about the title, I got into Newgrounds' Madness Combat series. Apparently when it comes to lore, it's Kirby level difficulty to find what's really going on behind the scenes.
That and apparently there's a shit ton of Hank simps. (Don't worry, the crazy simps will be fed soon.) Just like Joestar Misadventures, this is more of a story based headcanons. This can be read as gender neutral or preferred gender.
Somewhere in Nevada, deep within the madness filled land is a true paradise. An oasis of peace where Grunts could truly be free from the tyranny of A.A.H.W and the beasts that roam this cursed realm. Protected by a guardian whose form but also realm vary.
You never imagined leaving the stress of your world would evolve into becoming a protector to another. Yet here you were, a human who created a makeshift oasis town for small grey humanoid beings called Grunts.
Luckily, you were a psychic duelist and could bring the magic of your Duel Monster cards to life. Especially the monsters that made up your main deck: Naturia.
Your floral beasts keeping the residents happy and feeling safe. Their natural cuteness made it easier for the Grunts to trust them.
Creating the oasis town had been easy by using the Field Spell that served as your plant friends' home: Naturia Forest.
You heard from the locals how things escalated to the blood red sky that hung above the wasteland. Clashes between A.A.H.W and Hank J. Wimbleton.
Ignoring the insanity of someone being able to destroy the sun, you had a feeling you'd be seeing Hank soon.
Your oasis already repelled multiple attacks from A.A.H.W, some of the residents being ex-members. (They really should treat their workers better.) Plus you offer mercy instead of straight up killing them. Kindness can get you quite far.
In fact, that earned you the moniker from said agency: The Gardener. Cause just like a gardener, you protected and nurtured all in your vibrant domain.
So when Truffles, one of the local Grunt residents, told you they saw a truck with Nevada's Most Wanted heading over... You had everyone hunker down as you confronted them alongside one of your stronger monsters: Naturia Barkion.
Lo and behold, there stood the infamous grunt with blood red goggles dressed in all black: Hank J. Wimbleton. Alongside two others, the smoking jokester Deimos and the hook using survivor Sanford.
Your wood dragon's presence already intimidating the latter two while the former held an air of intrigue. Naturally, you asked what they wanted.
Other than checking out to see if your oasis was real, they wished to set up a base somewhere near your domain.
Hank did try intimidation only to be met with an raised eyebrow. This little motherfucker didn't scare you. You made that fact known by chucking a lemon in his face and told them to choke on it.
Thankfully for the three, you let them set up a base under some conditions. Doing some jobs for you such as scavenging, don't hurt the residents, and help repel any invasions.
You also decided to sweeten the deal. If they do some more difficult tasks, then you would offer some rare material for them to use and maybe even allow the group to borrow a Naturia monster with good enough reason.
The deal was set and the Status Quo were given their own base. You also met the group's doctor, 2BDamned or Doc for short. He was more polite and also smacked Hank on the back of the head for his rudeness earlier.
All of your Naturias were naturally curious about the newcomers, a shared sentiment from the curious looks or Doc writing down any observations he has.
Nevada's Most Wanted definitely seemed to like Naturia Beast the most. Usually stopping by to pet the leafy tiger before going back to his usual business.
Overall, you were just glad everyone was getting along. Even though Hank keeps sneaking into Naturia Beast's den with cat toys.
If anyone knows where I can find any Madness Combat lore and Krinkels interview on the characters, please tell me. It will be a huge help and I can write the characters more on point with their canon personalities. So I far, the wiki is my only source.
There will be different versions of this where the oasis and your role shall differ. Any continuations will be listed as such. For 'The Gardener, it has a bit of Yu-Gi-Oh inspiration to it.
Here's the card list for Naturias. I thought about using Magical Muskets since they would fit more in Madness Combat being demon gunsmen but Naturias felt more fitting. Easier to approach, they have a field spell, and these guys are known for shutting down oppositions quickly.
Chapter 1 of Stone Novas will be re-edited soon along with some other stuff revolving LMK and JTTW. I'm understanding more of Chinese culture so I will be making accurate changes as I learn.
Also, if anyone knows a good place to watch JTTW 1996 in English Dub, please share. Basically all the episodes on YouTube are practically impossible to find. I only got Episode 1 caused I had it liked. 😥
Until next time folks, I'll see you later. Here's Naturia Beast and Naturia Barkion.

Boots’ Definitive List of “Mainstream Fiction That’s Basically Off-Brand Pokemon Fic”
Humans who tame monsters. Animals that talk. Humans that transform into animals or monsters. These themes are common for a reason: they’re good shit. They’re a huge part of the Pokemon fandom, but they appear in other stories as well. If you want to improve your skills as a writer, these are some good non-fic options to broaden your palette.
So many adult Pokemon fans grew up reading Warrior Cats and Animorphs that I’m not going to bother with them here. Instead, I’ll focus on books you might not have heard of yet but should definitely check out.
Elatsoe by Darcie Little Badger is a YA murder mystery about a teenage Apache girl who can raise the spirits of animals from the dead. Specifically, her main companions are her ghost dog named Kirby and, later, her grandmother’s enormous, invisible mammoth ghost. Dog ghost and mammoth ghost both sound like fun pokemon designs to me! The book also includes vampires, fairy rings, and other kinds of magic both benevolent and threatening, but there’s no shortage of ghost-dog-to-the-rescue with his Sonic Bark. There are also a few animal people mentioned briefly, and I think they’d appeal to PMD fans and possibly the pokemorph community.
A Snake Falls to Earth by Darcie Little Badger focuses on animal people in more depth. It’s a tale of environmental calamity and cooperation between human teenager Nina and a gaggle of animal people (a cottonmouth snake, two coyote girls, and a hawk). More than half of the novel is about the daily lives and misadventures of the animal people community, which exists totally separately from the human world. The animal people are the most charming and interesting part of the book. They can easily change between their animal “true forms” to a human-like “false form” and perform other magical feats.
Watership Down by Richard Adams is told from the perspective of a family of rabbits who are trying to survive in the world and make a home. It’s got epic battles and rabbit mythology.
Hollow Kingdom by Jane Buxton is more xenofiction (fiction told from a non-human perspective), much weirder and more irreverent than Watership Down but not less spiritual and gripping. It’s a zombie apocalypse story set in the Seattle metro area, told from a perspective of a domesticated crow and other pets dealing with the loss of their humans and the challenges of the new world.
Borne by Jeff Vandermeer is a surreal and quirky yet horrifying fantasy apocalypse story about a human scavenger trying to survive the chaotic wastes left behind by The Corporation. Her main companion is an amorphous shapeshifter named Borne (read: ditto). It also features murderous bears, trickster foxes, and a number of other hard-to-explain oddities. To me, it reads like the delightfully horrible lovechild of pokemorph fic and PMD.
Heart’s Blood by Jane Yolen is not the first in the Pit Dragons series, but it is the one I read as a child. Heart’s Blood is the name of the protagonist’s prize fighting dragon. The human characters have some other struggles and conflicts going on, but their main source of income is breeding and pitting dragons against each other in blood sport.
The Red Threads of Fortune by Neon Yang is also not the first of the fantasy silk punk Tensorate series, but it is the one that features characters racing into battle on the backs of tame-ish dragons and navigating semi-psychic bonds with their attack dinosaurs. It also features a variety of queer relationships.
The His Dark Materials Trilogy and The Book of Dust by Philip Pullman are set in a world where all humans have an animal familiar, a daemon, who represents an aspect of their personality and their soul. The books also feature sapient armored bears, interplanar travel, specters, witches, and magical technologies. The books are all phenomenal and you should read them regardless, but there’s also a lot to like here for folks who like journeyfic.
More to come ... eventually!

WHAT I HAVE BEEN READING LATELY
Kage Baker’s Company Series
In the Garden of Iden
Sky Coyote
Mendoza in Hollywood
The Graveyard Game
The Life of the World to Come
The Children of the Company
The Machine's Child
The Sons of Heaven
The Empress of Mars
Not Less than Gods
Nell Gwynne's On Land and At Sea
Black Projects, White Knights: The Company Dossiers
Gods and Pawns
In the Company of Thieves
Ø Science Fiction written by a woman with Asperger’s. Wildly uneven. Main protagonist is female, but there are lots of POV characters, male and female.
Ø Big ideas.
Ø Lots of adventure, some action.
Ø Small doses of humor.
Neil Gaiman
Good Omens (with Sir Terry Pratchett)
Neverwhere
Stardust
American Gods
Anansi Boys
The Graveyard Book
The Ocean at the End of the Lane
Ø Neil’s books are a road trip with Carl Jung, Joseph Campbell and a baggie full of sativa.
Ø Ideas are incidental. The Milieu’s in charge.
Ø Adventure happens whether you like it or not.
Ø Cosmic humor. The joke’s on us.
Connie Willis’s Oxford Time Travel Series
Firewatch
Doomsday Book
To Say Nothing of the Dog (and the novel that inspired it – Jerome K. Jerome’s Three Men in a Boat)
Blackout/All Clear
Assorted:
The Last of the Winnebagos
Ø Connie loves her historical research. Blackout/All Clear actually lasts as long as the Blitz, but anything in the Oxford Time Travel series is worth reading. Doomsday Book reads like prophecy in retrospect.
Ø One idea: Hi! This is the human condition! How fucking amazing is that?!?
Ø Gut-punch adventure with extra consequences. Background action.
Ø I’d have to say that Doomsday Book is the funniest book about the black death I’ve ever read, which isn’t saying much. To Say Nothing of the Dog is classic farce, though. Girl’s got range.
Neal Stephenson
Snow Crash (After the apocalypse, the world will be ruled by Home-Owners Associations. Be afraid.)
Cryptonomicon
Anathem
Seveneves
Ø Neal writes big, undisciplined, unfocused books that keep unfolding in your mind for months after you’ve read them. He’s a very guy-type writer, in spite of a female protagonist or two. Seveneves, be warned, starts out brilliant and devolves into extreme meh.
Ø Big. Fucking. Ideas.
Ø Battles, crashes, fistfights, parachute jumps, nuclear powered motorcycles and extreme gardening action. Is there an MPAA acronym for that?
Ø Humor dry enough to be garnished with two green olives on a stick.
Christopher Moore
Pine Cove Series:
Practical Demonkeeping
The Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove
The Stupidest Angel: A Heartwarming Tale of Christmas Terror (Okay, yeah, Christmas. But Christmas with zombies, so that’s all right.)
Fluke (Not strictly Pine Cove, but in the same universe. Ever wonder why whales sing? They’re ordering Pastrami sandwiches. I’m not kidding.)
Death Merchant Chronicles:
A Dirty Job
Secondhand Souls (Best literary dogs this side of Jack London)
Coyote Blue (Kind of an outlier. Overlapping characters)
Shakespeare Series:
Fool
The Serpent of Venice
Shakespeare for Squirrels
Assorted:
Island of the Sequined Love Nun (Cargo cults with Pine Cove crossovers. I have a theory that the characters in this book are direct descendants of certain characters in Stephenson’s Cryptonomicon.)
Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ’s Childhood Pal (So I have a favorite first-century wonder rabbi. Who doesn’t?)
Sacre Bleu
Noir
Ø Not for the squeamish, the easily offended, or those who can’t lovingly embrace the fact that the human species is pretty much a bunch of idiots snatching at moments of grace.
Ø No big ideas whatever. Barely any half-baked notions.
Ø Enthusiastic geek adventure. Action as a last resort.
Ø Nonstop funny from beginning to end.
Ben Aaronovitch’s Rivers of London Series
Rivers of London
Moon Over Soho
Whispers Under Ground
Broken Homes
Foxglove Summer
The Hanging Tree
The Furthest Station
Lies Sleeping
The October Man
False Value
Tales From the Folly
Ø Lean, self-deprecating police procedurals disguised as fantasy novels. Excellent writing.
Ø These will not expand your mind. They might expand your Latin vocabulary.
Ø Crisply described action, judiciously used. Whodunnit adventure. It’s all about good storytelling.
Ø Generous servings of sly humor. Aaronovitch is a geek culture blueblood who drops so many inside jokes, there are websites devoted to indexing them.
John Scalzi
Old Man’s War Series:
Old Man’s War
Questions for a Soldier
The Ghost Brigades
The Sagan Diary
The Last Colony
Zoe’s Tale
After the Coup
The Human Division
The End of All Things
Ø Star Trek with realpolitik instead of optimism.
Ø The Big Idea is that there’s nothing new under the sun. Nor over it.
Ø Action-adventure final frontier saga with high stakes.
Ø It’s funny when the characters are being funny, and precisely to the same degree that the character is funny.
Assorted:
The Dispatcher
Murder by Other Means
Redshirts (Star Trek, sideways, with occasional optimism)
Ø Scalzi abandons (or skewers) his space-opera tendencies with these three little gems of speculative fiction. Scalzi’s gift is patience. He lets the scenario unfold like a striptease.
Ø What-if thought experiments that jolt the brain like espresso shots.
Ø Action/misadventure as necessary to accomplish the psychological special effects.
Ø Redshirts is satire, so the humor is built-in, but it’s buried in the mix.
David Wong/Jason Pargin
John Dies at the End
This Book is Full of Spiders: Seriously, Dude, Don’t Touch It
What the Hell Did I Just Read?
Ø Pargin clearly starts his novels with a handful of arresting scenes and images, then looses the characters on an unsuspecting world to wander wither they will.
Ø Ideas aren’t as big or obvious as Heinlein, but they are there to challenge all your assumptions in the same way that Heinlein’s were.
Ø Classic action/adventure for anyone raised on Scooby-Doo.
Ø Occasional gusts of humor in a climate that’s predominantly tongue-in-cheek.
Jodi Taylor’s Chronicles of St. Mary’s Series
Just One Damned Thing After Another
The Very First Damned Thing
A Symphony of Echoes
When a Child is Born*
A Second Chance
Roman Holiday*
A Trail Through Time
Christmas Present*
No Time Like the Past
What Could Possible Go Wrong?
Ships and Stings and Wedding Rings*
Lies, Damned Lies and History
The Great St Mary’s Day Out*
My Name is Markham*
And the Rest is History
A Perfect Storm*
Christmas Past*
An Argumentation of Historians
The Battersea Barricades*
The Steam Pump Jump*
And Now for Something Completely Different*
Hope for the Best
When Did You Last See Your Father?*
Why Is Nothing Ever Simple*
Plan For The Worst
The Ordeal of the Haunted Room
Ø The * denotes a short story or novella. Okay, try to imagine Indiana Jones as a smartassed redheaded woman with a time machine and a merry band of full contact historians. I love history, and I especially love history narrated by a woman who can kick T. Rex ass.
Ø The ideas are toys, not themes. Soapy in spots.
Ø Action! Adventure! More action! More adventure! Tea break. Action again!
Ø Big, squishy dollops of snort-worthy stuff.
Laurie R. King’s Mary Russell Series
The Beekeeper's Apprentice
A Monstrous Regiment of Women
A Letter of Mary
The Moor
Jerusalem
Justice Hall
The Game
Locked Rooms
The Language of Bees
The God of the Hive
Beekeeping for Beginners
Pirate King
Garment of Shadows
Dreaming Spies
The Marriage of Mary Russell
The Murder of Mary Russell
Mary Russell's War And Other Stories of Suspense
Island of the Mad
Riviera Gold
The Art of Detection (Strictly speaking, this is in the action!lesbian Detective Kate Martinelli series, but it crosses over to the Sherlock Holmes genre. If you’ve ever wondered how Holmes would deal with the transgendered, this is the book.)
Ø Sherlock Holmes retires to Sussex, keeps bees, marries a nice Jewish girl who is smarter than he is and less than half his age and he’s mentored since she was fifteen in an extremely problematic power dynamic relationship that should repulse me but doesn’t, somehow, because this is the best Sherlock Holmes pastiche out there. Mary should have been a rabbi, but it is 1920, so she learns martial arts and becomes an international detective instead. Guest appearances by Conan Doyle, Kimball O’Hara, T.E. Lawrence, Cole Porter, and the Oxford Comma.
Ø Nothing mind-expanding here, unless the levels of meta present in a fictional world that is about how the fictional world might not be as fictional as you thought come as a surprise to anyone in the era of tie-in books, films, tv, interactive social media and RPGs.
Ø If these two geniuses can’t catch the bad guys with their dazzling brilliance, they will happily kick some ass. Adventure takes center stage and the action sequences are especially creative.
Ø Amusement is afoot.
Jasper Fforde’s Thursday Next Series
The Eyre Affair
Lost in a Good Book
The Well of Lost Plots
Something Rotten
First Among Sequels
One of Our Thursdays is Missing
The Woman Who Died a Lot
Ø In a world where Librarians are revered and Shakespeare is more popular than the Beatles, someone has to facilitate the weekly anger-management sessions for the characters of Wuthering Heights, if only to keep them from killing each other before the novel actually ends. That someone is Thursday Next – Literature Cop.
Ø Mind-bending enough to give Noam Chomsky material for another hundred years.
Ø Adventure aplenty. Action? Even the punctuation will try to kill you.
Ø This is a frolicsome look at humorous situations filled with funny people. Pretty much a full house in the laugh department.
Sir Terry Pratchett’s Discworld Series/City Watch Arc
Guards! Guards!
Men at Arms
Feet of Clay
Jingo
The Fifth Elephant
Night Watch
Thud!
Snuff
Raising Steam
Ø If this were a game of CLUE, the answer would be Niccolo Machiavelli in Narnia with a Monty Python. Everything you think you know about books with dragons and trolls and dwarves and wizards is expertly ripped to shreds and reassembled as social satire that can save your soul, even if it turns out you don’t really have one. Do not be fooled by the Tolkien chassis – there’s a Vonnegut-class engine at work.
Ø Caution: Ideas in the Mirror Universe May be Larger Than They Appear
Ø The City Watch arc has plenty of thrilling action sequences. Some other of the fifty-million Discworld novels have less. Every one of them is nonstop adventure. Most of the adventure, however, takes the form of characters desperately trying to avoid thrilling action sequences.
Ø Funny? Even though I’ve read every book in the series at least ten times, I still have to make sure I have cold packs on hand in case I laugh so hard I rupture something.

Galavant AU:
When Cersei is kidnapped by the king’s men, Ser Jaime follows to rescue her. He reaches the Sept of Baelor just as her wedding begins, but Cersei chooses to marry King Robert instead of running away with Jaime. Destroyed by her rejection, Ser Jaime and his squire Pod retire to a small village, where Jaime drinks away his days until Princess Brienne comes asking for his help. King Robert has invaded her island home of Tarth, kidnapping her father King Selwyn and threatening his life if she doesn’t hand over the island’s famed Jewel of Tarth, a massive sapphire. Ser Jaime agrees to join her on her quest so he can rescue Queen Cersei, with the sapphire as payment. What Jaime doesn’t know is that Brienne has reached an agreement with the king to trade Jaime for her father.
As the trio travels to King’s Landing, word reaches them that King Robert has died under mysterious circumstances. Brienne’s deal is of course moot, but she still wants to rescue her father. As they travel, Jaime and Brienne grow closer. After a series of misadventures, the trio arrive in King’s Landing to save King Selwyn and Queen Cersei from the man who has seized the crown, the lost heir to the throne, Jon Snow.
When they sneak into the Red Keep, Cersei is pleased to see Jaime, but she has no intention of leaving. She wants the throne for herself, and will stop at nothing to get it. When Jaime fails to embrace life as the queen’s pretty plaything, she has him thrown in the dungeons. Brienne rescues her father, only to find that he has promised her to Prince Robin Arryn of the Eyrie, and she is spirited away after sharing the world’s worst first kiss with Jaime.
Jon is overthrown and ends up in the dungeons with Jaime. They drink together all night and escape on a smuggler’s ship, bound for Gulltown to rescue Brienne from Robin Arryn. Along the way Jon finds the mythical sword Lightbringer which can only be wielded by the one true king to unite them all, has an awkward reunion with his aunt and ex, Daenerys, and hatches a lizard he swears is a dragon from a cool-looking egg he found in the Red Keep.
Meanwhile Brienne has freed herself from Robin Arryn without Jaime’s help and taken control of her father’s armies. Cersei has teamed up with the black magician Qyburn and woken an army of shambling dead. Daenerys has also invaded Westeros with two dragons and a massive army, and all seven kingdoms are on the brink of war. In the final battle, Jaime and Brienne reunite to fight alongside Jon and all the minor characters they’ve met along the way. Cersei’s dead army is defeated, Daenerys decides Westeros isn’t worthy of her, and Jon reluctantly takes the throne.
In the aftermath, Jaime and Brienne are married in front of the whole kingdom and retire to Tarth to raise their seven children in peace and quiet, Pod becomes commander of the Kingsguard, and Jon’s lizard actually does grow into a dragon.

Manga the Week of 12/`16/20
SEAN: As we get closer to the holidays, we get more and more books being published.
ASH: This turn of events pleases me.
MELINDA: And me.
SEAN: Cross Infinite World has a new title, I Reincarnated As Evil Alice, So the Only Thing I’m Courting Is Death!. Our heroine dies and is reincarnated in an otome game, and she *is* the heroine this time… but the game is notorious for having almost all bad ends. Expect a lot of Alice in Wonderland vibes here as well.
No debuts for J-Novel Club, but a heaping helping of ongoing digital light novels. We get An Archdemon’s Dilemma 11, Arifureta 11, I Refuse to Be Your Enemy! 4, The Intrigue of Marielle Clarac (Book 5 in that series), Slayers 4, and The Sorcerer’s Receptionist 2. Phew!
Kodansha has some print. We get Drifting Dragons 7, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest 6, Gleipnir 8, the 2nd Magic Knight Rayearth manga box set, which will finish the series, and also has a bonus artbook. That Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime 15 and UQ Holder 21 are also out.
ASH: I’ve really been enjoying Drifting Dragons. I’ve also somehow never actually read Magic Knight Rayearth yet.
SEAN: Digitally the debut is I Guess I Became the Mother of the Great Demon King’s 10 Children in Another World (Isekai de Saikyou Maou no Kodomo-tachi Juunin no Mama ni Nacchaimashita), which sounds like your standard isekai but is also by Ema Toyama, author of Missions of Love and other shoujo classics. This is not shoujo: it runs in Shonen Sirius. A girl whose mother has died plays the game the mother never finished… and finds herself in another world.
ASH: Ema Toyama, you say? That piques my interest a bit more than just the title alone.
MELINDA: I don’t read much digitally, but this intrigues me as well, almost entirely because of the author.
SEAN: There is also Dolly Kill Kill 9, Dr. Ramune -Mysterious Disease Specialist- 2, GE: Good Ending 12, Heroine for Hire 4 (the final volume), Kakushigoto 10, Orient 9, Shaman King: The Super Star 2, Shojo FIGHT! 14, and The Writer and His Housekeeper 3.
MICHELLE: I really, really need to get caught up on Shojo FIGHT!.
SEAN: One Peace has a 3rd manga volume for The Reprise of the Spear Hero.
Debuting from Seven Seas is Didn’t I Say to Make My Abilities Average in the Next Life?! Everyday Misadventures! (Watashi, Nichijou wa Heikinchi de tte Itta yo ne!), the 4-koma spinoff of Mile’s antics that everyone wanted. It runs in Comic Earth Star.
Also out from Seven Seas: Goodbye My Rose Garden 3 (the final volume) and Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear’s 4th novel (digital-first).
MICHELLE: I wouldn’t say Goodbye, My Rose Garden was an amazing series, but it was certainly good enough to read the third and final volume.
ASH: I still need to read the second volume (and now soon the third), but I found the first volume to be enjoyable.
SEAN: Sol Press, after what seems like 80,000 years, has the second Saving 80,000 Gold in Another World light novel.
Tokyopop has the 2nd and final volume of No Vampire, No Happy Ending.
Vertical gives us the 4th Katanagatari omnibus digitally (I will keep repeating this till it’s correct), Kino’s Journey 7, and With a Dog AND a Cat, Every Day is Fun 2.
MICHELLE: I really liked the first volume of With a Dog AND a Cat, Every Day is Fun and am eagerly anticipating the second.
MELINDA: Always here for Kino’s Journey, too.
SEAN: They also have Zoku-Owarimonogatari, the final, absolutely the last, no take backs, Monogatari Series novel. Unless they license the others that came after this.
Viz’s debut is Remina, another helping of Junji Ito just in time for winter. This is sci-fi, but still just as terrifying. It ran in Big Comic Spirits.
MICHELLE: I am down for this sci-fi/horror blend!
ASH: Yup! I’m here for this one, too.
MELINDA: Yes!
SEAN: Also from Viz: Blue Flag 5, Golden Kamuy 19, Levius/est 7, Maison Ikkoku Collector’s Edition 2, and No Guns Life 8.
ANNA: Glad that Maison Ikkoku is being rereleased and looking forward to Blue Flag.
MICHELLE: What Anna said.
ASH: I should actually read Maison Ikkoku now that it is readily available again.
MELINDA: I should be buying them, since I never managed to acquire a full collection of the original release!
SEAN: Yen On has a truly terrifying number of light novels coming out. The first debut is The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten (Otonari no Tenshi-sama ni Itsu no Ma ni ka Dame Ningen ni Sareteita Ken). We’ve seen a mini-rebirth of the non-fantasy romcom in recent licenses, and this falls into that category. A guy lends his neighbor his umbrella one day, she offers to help around his house in return, and a relationship blossoms.
The second debut is a spinoff, Goblin Slayer Side Story 2: Dai Katana. This apparently goes into the past of Sword Maiden.
There is also (deep breath): Accel World 23, The Alchemist Who Survived Now Dreams of a Quiet City Life 5, Baccano! 15, The Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy 2, The Devil Is a Part-Timer 18, The Genius Prince’s Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt (Hey, How About Treason?) 5, Suppose a Kid From the Dungeon Boonies Moved to a Starter Town 4, and Torture Princess 6.
ASH: That is a fair number of light novels!
SEAN: On the Yen Press side, there’s even more. Debut #1: 86, the manga adaptation of the grim military fantasy light novel series. It runs in Young Gangan.
Carole and Tuesday runs in Young Ace, and I believe is the rare case where the anime comes first and the manga follows. Girls who want to be musicians… on Mars!
ANNA: I watched half of the anime….
ASH: I do like musicians… and Mars…
MELINDA: I… kind of want it. Though I’m not sure how to interpret the fact that Anna only watched half of the anime.
SEAN: Not quite a debut, but we do see Overlord: The Complete Anime Artbook.
Strawberry Fields Once Again (Strawberry Fields wo Mou Ichido) is a yuri romance that seems to have a twist to it. It ran in Mediaworks’ @ vitamin.
And Wolf & Parchment is the manga adaptation of the sequel to Spice & Wolf.
Also from Yen: ACCA 13-Territory Inspection Department P.S. 2, The Devil Is a Part-Timer! 16, Goblin Slayer 9, King of Eden 2, KonoSuba 11, Lust Geass 2, No Matter How I Look at It, It’s You Guys’ Fault I’m Not Popular! 17, Plunderer 6, Rascal Does Not Dream of Petit Devil Kouhai (another omnibus), Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-, Chapter 3: Truth of Zero 11 (the final volume of this arc), Reborn As a Polar Bear 4, The Saga of Tanya the Evil 12, A Witch’s Printing Office 4, and Yowamushi Pedal’s 16th omnibus.
MICHELLE: I am fixin’ to have a YowaPeda catch-up spree and am very happy about that.
ASH: Same! And I always look forward to reading Natsume Ono’s manga, so I plan on picking up the ACCA continuation as well.
SEAN: Any presents from this list you’re giving out?

um, there’s a mention that patton says he doesn’t know who virgil is, which if you’re following the canon of this series wouldn’t make any sense, so let’s just assume logan described him so badly that patton didn’t recognize him.

"Why did I have to come with you?" Virgil moaned as Roman dragged him towards the local museum. "I don't need the research!"
“Museums can be cool! Come on, I just need someone here to make snarky comments about the birds in the wildlife wing,” he pleaded.
Virgil rolled his eyes and relented. “God, I hate you.”
“Love you too!”
Roman dragged him all the way to the wildlife exhibit he was supposed to be studying, and several families were confused by the angry emo 24-year-old being pulled by the arm by a bubbly 25-year-old theater kid to a random exhibit in the museum.
Virgil and Roman had been close friends since high school, where they met through the misadventures of a mutual friend, Patton, and Roman’s brother Remus. The four had drifted apart over the years, but the two of them had gone to the same college and now, three years later, Virgil was still stuck going to this stupid museum with Roman.
As Roman diligently took notes on the exhibit he was supposed to be researching, Virgil wandered aimlessly around the Egyptian exhibit and looked at all the… old stuff. (He was never really one for history. Too many white people pillaging and colonizing and not enough sword-fighting.)
He leaned over to look into one of the glass cases, and the attendant walked over with a smile on his face. “Interested in these artifacts?”
“Oh… they’re cool. I was just looking around, really.”
The attendant nodded, still giving him that tight-lipped why-are-you-here smile. “Okay. These are scarab beetles. They were very common in ancient Egypt, and they were worshipped back then. They were sacred animals in Egypt.”
Virgil glanced at the attendant, who seemed to be about 26 or so, and noticed that he was… was it appropriate to say that he was smoking hot? He had tattoos up and down both arms, and glasses that framed his face perfectly, and Virgil’s bisexual ass was crying for this man to keep talking to him.
“Yeah,” Virgil said, running a finger along the edge of the case, “I used to think that wasn’t a real thing until I came here.”
His mouth opened and closed a couple of times, before blurting out, "You didn't think Egypt was a real place?"
Virgil, who was now slightly mortified, did nothing but nod. Oh, god, this hot guy thinks I'm an idiot, he thought, still smiling at the tour guide. “I -”
“My stars, we get some idiots here…” he mumbled, and Virgil started, a bit offended.
“So what if I don’t think Egypt is real?” he asked, affronted. “What are you going to do about it?”
The attendant blinked once, twice, apparently at a loss for words. “I…”
“You know what, I’m going to go now, and you can mull over that,” Virgil said and then stalked out of the exhibit, head held high with the tour guide still tripping over his words behind him.
He strolled through the museum for a little bit longer before catching up with Roman, who was still diligently taking notes on the exhibit he was supposed to. He glanced up when Virgil approached him and shut his notebook.
“Where were you?” Roman challenged, frustrated. “You just wandered off.”
Virgil stuck his tongue out at him. “Sorry, dad. I was just in the Egypt exhibit; I accidentally convinced a guide that I didn’t believe in it, too.”
“You did what now?”
He rolled his eyes, as if this was a normal thing that Roman should have been able to comprehend. “I convinced the guide - who was ridiculously attractive, by the way - that I didn’t believe that Egypt was a real place.”
Roman stared at him, openmouthed. “You - oh jesus, you’ve got a crush on this guy, don’t you?”
“How’d you know it was a guy?” Virgil said, raising an eyebrow.
“Because I know these kinds of things, Virgil. You treat girls with so much more reverence than you do guys, so this crush is a guy.”
He pouted. “I don’t have a crush on him. I just liked messing with him.”
Roman folded his arms across his chest. “Describe him.”
“What?”
“Describe him,” he repeated. “Do it.”
Virgil stared at his best friend and then sighed. “He had like, really soft brown hair that looked really nice, and round glasses, and green eyes that were almost blue, and his face looked really intelligent but sweet at the same time, and - why are you /laughing?”
“You’re so gay for him! Oh my god!” Roman doubled over with laughter. “That’s so cute, it’s baby’s first crush.”
“They will never find your body.”
He glared at Virgil. “You’re awful, I hope you know that. Come on, let’s go back to the Egyptian exhibit! We can still find him!”
“No, we can’t, and it’s not worth it.” Virgil shrugged. “You done?”
“I can’t believe you’re just giving up on true love like that!” Roman cried, exasperated. Several families shushed him, very annoyed. He frowned and turned back to Virgil, who was giggling silently.
Virgil, finally recovering from his fit of giggles, said, “I’m not giving up on true love. It’s a crush, if that.”
“Ugh, you’re the worst,” he replied, sticking his notebook in his back pocket. “Let’s go, then.”
Roman, who was a wise man (sometimes) knew that there was essentially no convincing Virgil now that he’d made up his mind, so they went home.
It was the next day when the guide, who’s name was Logan, and who was 26 years old, was with his friend DC, who was quite frustrated with Logan.
“So you’re in love with him -”
“Felt that he was attractive,” he corrected.
“And you just let him leave!” DC threw his hands up in the air, exasperated. “Logan, I don’t know what I’m going to do with you!”
“I don’t know what you want me to do!” Logan exclaimed, pacing the room. “I just thought he was attractive and I wanted to get to know him a bit better, but he left, so, oh well.”
DC sighed loudly and glared at him. “I hate you. I hate you so much. Okay, I’m calling Patton and seeing if he knows anyone who fits that description because I’m /sick of your /bitching and I want you to see this guy again.”
He rang up Patton, who said, “No, I’ve never heard of anyone like that. Do you mind if I try my friend Remus?”
Remus, by some strange stroke of luck, was the brother of the man who had gone to the museum with Logan’s crush, and he directed DC to his brother, Roman, who was the best friend of the man, who’s name was Virgil.
“Virgil,” Logan said, savoring the way it rolled off his tongue. “Isn’t that such an elegant name, DC?”
DC flipped him off as he scribbled down Virgil’s number from Roman. “Yeah, thanks, Roman. And tell your brother I said he sounds sexy.” A pause. “No? You won’t? Okay.”
Logan rolled his eyes. “You’re awful.”
“I just got you the number of the man of your dreams,” he replied, handing it to Logan, who nodded in thanks. “But, yes, I am incorrigible. However, he did sound really sexy.”
“I’m texting him, I can’t hear you.”
Me 8:34 PM
Hello! I am Logan. I was the tour guide at the museum the day you told me you didn’t believe in Egypt, and I was hoping we could meet for coffee and I could tell you all about Egypt… and myself, if you’re interested?
And the rest was history.
I mean, that’s not the end of the fic, I’ve still got to get us to the next disaster by the end of this one, but like, it’s written history. Recorded history.
You get it.
It was only five months later that Logan was nervously tapping his foot against the ground in the Egyptian exhibit, which was closed down for a special event.
Logan had started working in the archaeology department at the museum, so he still worked there, and therefore was able to shut down the exhibit for a ‘special event’.
Y’all aren’t dumb. You know he’s proposing.
It had only been five months, sure, but ever since the first date Logan had known that this grumpy young man was his absolute soulmate. They complemented each other’s personalities perfectly, they were best friends, and their friend groups were now melded, meaning that the six of them were all quite close. And so Logan had Roman, Remus, Patton and DC’s blessing to propose to his emo boyfriend, and that is where we join him.
Virgil poked his head into the exhibit, eyes widening when he saw his boyfriend down on one knee with a box in his hand. “Holy shit -”
“Virgil, you are -”
“Yes!”
Logan sighed. “Can I finish?”
“No, shut up! I’m saying yes, save the sappy crap for the wedding!” Virgil beamed and ran over to Logan, wrapping him in a tight hug. “I love you so much.”
He smiled and hugged Virgil back. “I love you too.”
So they were married two months later, in a lovely park with friends and family and Remus’s dog, who was the most important member of the wedding party.
It was two years later that they adopted their son, Remy. He was only a month old when they brought him home, but he was the final addition to their family, and Logan and Virgil were happy.
Even without the existence of Egypt.

Introduction Time!
Hello world of Tumblr. Thank you for wondering onto our humble blog. We are just here for a simple reason; that being to post our art, writings, scribbles, thoughts and ideas. These things will center about the current world of pop culture, anime, books, television and movies.
So as we get started let us introduce ourselves!
I'll start us off. I just want to begin with putting the basics:
I go by: Slowbito on most social media's, my official name is Ed or Eddward.
Here's a list of the things I've watched, *for favorites
Animes- Naruto*, Bleach*, Full Metal Alchemist*, Hellsing*, Attack on Titan, Cowboy Bebop*, Samuria Jack, Pokemon*, My Hero Acedamia*, Fairy Tale, Hunter x Hunter*, Avatar the Last Airbender*, Dragon Ball Z, Death Note, Fooley Cooley*, Inuyasha*, Sailor Moon, Black Lagoon, Black Blood Brothers, Trigun, Ghost in the Shell*, Tokyo Ghoul, Sword Art Online, xxxHolic, Wolf’s Rain*
Currently watching: Fairy Tale (restarted from beginning, trying to keep interest) and HxH (that I have almost completed and really putting off because I know it isn't complete T-T) and about to start Demon Slayer and The Rising of the Shield Hero
T.V- Shameless*, Lucifer*, Rick and Morty*, House M.D*, Disenchantment*, The Office*, The Handmaids Tale, The Walking Dead, Bojack Horseman, Big Mouth, Adventure Time*, Stranger Things*, Modern Family, American Horror Story*, The Good Place, Regular Show, The Simpsons, Family Guy*, American Dad, South Park, Bob's Burgers*, The Venture Bros, Drake and Josh*, iCarly, Victorious (though some of these are animated, I put them in this catagory because I don't think they are meant for young children)
Currently watching: Shameless, Bojack Horseman, American Horror Story, The Handmaids Tale, The Good Place
Cartoons: Spongebob*, Lilo and Stitch*,Gravity Falls, Steven Universe*, The Amazing World of Gumball, The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, Tom and Jerry, Courage the Cowardly Dog*, Ed, Edd, and Eddy, Rugrats*, Dexter's Lab, Teen Titians*, Power Puff Girls, Cow and Chicken, Scooby Doo*, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends*, Chowder, Looney Toons*, Kim Possible*, Lizzie McGuire*, The Proud Family*, Wizards of Waverly Place, Even Steven*, Jake Long, Recess, Brandy and Mister Whiskers, Jessie, Phineas and Ferb
Currently watching: Spongebob, Steven Universe, Gravity Falls, wanting to watch We Bare Bears, Over the Garden Walls
Movies: Spirited Away*, Howl's Moving Castle (Anything Studio Ghibli) Lion King, Robin Hood, The Nightmare Before Christmas*, The Corps Bride* (Anything Tim Burton and Disney), Shrek* (Anything Dreamworks), Harry Potter*, Avengers series and indiviual movies*, Forrest Gump, E.T, The Hobbit* (animated and live action), Shawshank Redemption, Slingblade*, Back to the Future*, Jurassic Park*, The Wizard of Oz, Rocky series, Terminator series, 50 First Dates, Marley and Me, Grown Ups, 300, American Pie, Matrix*, Hellboy series*, Toy Story's (Anything Pixar), Avatar, Men In Black, Joker*, Dark Night/Batman series, Fast and Furious
So basically I've seen a good mix of things. I love animated things, anything that is funny, stupid, or has a good story. I grew up on Disney, Cartoon Network (Adult Swim), and Nickelodeon. I didn't have cable so a lot of what I watched was on the weekends at my nana's or when we would record tapes and brought them home. We owned so many movies, and honestly I'll never grow up so anything meant for kids, I probably have seen or currently watch. If it's even somewhat popular or trendy then I try it out and see if I like it. Even with some of these I watched I didn't like them all (I know, shame on me).
I'll give you the basics of me, as best I can. I am opinionated, but not really into politics. I never really grew out of my childhood, I am easily entertained, meme's are a simple joy of mine, and I love to watch old vines. I was introduced to YouTube by Oni, and she started me off with the best: NigaHiga, = 3 (Ray William Johnson), Anna Akana, and eventually Markiplier, and so on I grew my own likes; VizziePop, Collegehumor, Buzzfeed, Pewdiepie, Boyinaband, Prince E, TheOdd1sout, Jaiden Animation (Oni's find), FailArmy, so on and so forth. I like astrology, and my sign is Tauras. I loves food, cooking and baking is a side hobby, and I'm into all the nerdy stuff like reading, drawing, role play, and gaming.
Alright, now I will leave some links to some profiles of mine below and will leave it all to my partner!

History
Damian Wayne is the son of Batman and Talia al Ghul. This makes him an heir to the world's greatest crime-fighter, and its greatest super-villain Ra's al Ghul. Damian became the fifth Robin, working alongside his father as Batman.
Origins
Damian Wayne is the son of Batman and Talia al Ghul. Raised by Talia and trained by the League of Assassins, Damian became a skilled assassin by an early age. Coupled by his innate talent for the art and his lineage, Damian became a respected member of the League. Eventually, when Damian finally met his father, Batman, Damian defected and joined his father's cause. Batman granted Damian the mantle of Robin, and Damian became his father's latest crime-fighting partner.
After Bruce's death in the Final Crisis, his first protégé Dick Grayson took over the mantle of Batman and Damian became his Robin. Alongside Grayson, Damian faced new threats such as Doctor Hurt, Professor Pyg and Flamingo.
Born to Kill
After his father's resurrection, Bruce and Damian began patrolling together as Batman and Robin. Bruce tried teaching Damian, still a cold-hearted assassin, about the sanctity of life, but had trouble relating with his son. Damian began showing restraint, which Bruce commended, although Alfred still criticized him for not being supportive enough. Bruce bought Damian a dog named Titus. They were both targeted by a super-villain named Nobody. They were kidnapped by Nobody, who tried to show Batman that his no-kill methods were ineffective. He encouraged Robin's darker side and tried to take him as an apprentice. Robin angrily left the Batcave to work with Nobody, who asked him to execute a criminal. Robin revealed that he was lying, and refused to betray his father. Nobody decided to torture Robin, continuing his personal vendetta against Batman. When Batman discovered their location, he beat Nobody mercilessly and came close to killing him, but stopped when he realized Damian was watching the fight. Nobody swore that he would return and kill their friends, so Damian killed him with a move Nobody had taught him. Though deeply shaken by the killing, Bruce reacted with compassion rather than anger. When Damian regained consciousness, they talked about how difficult it is for Damian to adjust from the life of an assassin. Despite their differences, they played ball with Titus and began to enjoy spending more time together as father and son.
Batman Incorporated
Batman and Robin began working together against Damian's mother Talia al Ghul, revealed as the head of Leviathan. During a fight in a meat factory, Damian converted to vegetarianism and adopted a pet cow who he named Bat-Cow. He was believed dead when he was shot in the head by an assassin named Goatboy. It was revealed that Talia had created another clone as his replacement, the obedient fully-grown Heretic. Robin was shown to have faked his death, and is confined to the Batcave at Batman's orders. To avoid the bounty Talia placed on his head, he began using the name Redbird and switched to a new costume. This allowed him to team up with Jason Todd, who was using the Wingman identity. They worked together with Batman Incorporated to take down the League of Assassins' top killers. However, Batman told Damian he had to quit crime-fighting altogether. Bruce revealed that he has seen Damian's future, as told through "Batman in Bethlehem". If Damian did not retire, his actions would lead to a plague that would force the President to nuke Gotham. Batman Incorporated fought Leviathan in the streets, while Damian was forced to stay inside. Alfred Pennyworth got him a cat to take care of, who he also named Alfred. Damian refused to stay home while his allies were dying, and Alfred allowed him to leave knowing he could not be stopped. He flew his exo-skeleton into the center of the battle, where Leviathan had taken over Wayne Tower. He neutralized the child soldiers, and teamed up with Dick Grayson to take down the remaining assassins. The Heretic flew Grayson aside, and challenged Damian to a sword-fight. Despite his bravery and refusal to give up, Damian was impaled through the chest and killed.
Resurrection
After various trials and tribulations involving his corpse, mainly revolving around Ra's al Ghul and Apokolips, Batman managed to rescue his son's body and, through using the Omega Sanction infused within a Chaos Crystal shard, brought Damian back to life within the Batcave.
Teen Titans
On his 13th birthday Damian was sent a package by his grandfather Ra's al Ghul, which contained a dead robin. After meeting with his mother Talia, he discovered that it was a warning from his cousin Mara al Ghul, who had chosen him as her prey as part of an initiation ritual she must undertake in order to properly join the League of Assassins. Mara had been made leader of a group known as the Demon's Fist, which was originally supposed to be led by Damian but became hers when he chose to leave the League. They too had chosen targets that they must hunt down in order to ascend to the League. Damian decided to collect the other Demon's Fist members' targets in order to form the new Teen Titans; comprised of Starfire, Beast Boy, Raven and Kid Flash.
In the Name of the Father
While searching for a tree for Christmas, Jonathan Samuel Kent accidentally torched some woodlands near a swamp in Hamilton. He was subsequently rescued by Maya Ducard, the daughter of the villain Nobody, and Damian's pet dragon-bat Goliath. Jon later awakened in the Batcave and found out that Robin had been keeping him under surveillance for a long time. The two initially did not get along, and the situation was further complicated when Batman and Superman arrived, blaming each other for the conflict.
The ensuing melee was abruptly averted when Jon used his Freeze Breath to separate the two sides and allow him to explain the situation to his father. While their fathers were discussing the lab tests that Damian had performed on Jon, the two boys went off to look at Damian's pets. However, due to Damian's snide remarks and goading, Jon lost his temper and another brawl broke out between them. This was also put down quickly as Batman and Superman looked down on them in furious silence.
In order to properly discipline their sons and teach them the value of working together, Superman and Batman had them undergo a series of challenges. However their lack of teamwork and animosity toward each other caused them to fail every challenge. The boys finally managed to put aside their differences and worked together in order to save their fathers from an apparent threat in the Batcave, but this later turns out to be a ruse. At this point, Alfred declared them to be the Super Sons.
Super Sons Vs. Kid Amazo
Jonathan was paid a visit by Robin, posing as both his school's bus driver and his substitute teacher. He was later unwillingly recruited by Damian to help him investigate a series of break-ins at LexCorp. This misadventure was further complicated with the appearance of Lex Luthor, who tried to capture them both. The two boys managed to escape Luthor and followed a lead to a home in Providence, Rhode Island, where they encountered a family who still retained their powers from the Amazo Virus. However, one member by the name of Reggie Meyer was driven insane by the excessive use of his powers and took the alias of Kid Amazo. He had also stolen the Amazo Armor from LexCorp and had planned to use it and the abilities of the Super Sons to lure the Justice League into a trap. Thanks to the arrival of Lex Luthor and aid from Reggie's super-powered sister Sara, Kid Amazo was taken down. Not wanting to explain themselves, Robin and Superboy quickly left the area and headed back to Hamilton. However, their absences from their respective homes did not go unnoticed as they encountered both Lois Lane and Alfred Pennyworth while trying to sneak into Jon's home.
The boys were subsequently punished by their respective parents. Batman forbade Robin to go crime-fighting for a week while Superboy was forced to do his chores without using his superpowers. With the prospect of moving to Metropolis on his mind, Jon eventually ran off and headed to Gotham to speak with Damian in the Batcave. This resulted in another argument and a short fight, before Alfred arrived. They were later joined by Batman and Superman, and worked out their differences. With Superman's and Batman's permission, the two boys would be allowed to go on their own, provided that they would do so together.
Dark Knights: Metal
Damian aided in fighting the Dark Knights upon their invasion, forming the Gotham Resistance with Green Arrow, Killer Croc, Nightwing and Harley Quinn. They lost Croc, the Teen Titans and the Suicide Squad, but they defeated Mister Freeze, Riddler and Damian's evil Earth -22 self and made the discovery that beings from the Dark Multiverse can be killed by Nth Metal.
Fun Facts
Damian has declared himself a vegetarian.
Damian has a strong love for animals. Pets he has owned include Goliath, Bat-Cow, Titus, and Alfred.

Clash of Two Alexanders (Lineart)
This is a (lineart) drawing of my main TMNT OC, Alexander Hamato, in two different versions of TMNT. The Alex on the left is from the 2012 series (the most frequently used version of Alex, and since the 2012 series is my favorite version of TMNT, there’s going to be a LOT of fanwork from me based on said series), and the one on the right is from Rise of the TMNT. I decided to draw these two side-by-side to show some contrast between the two Alexs, despite them being the same character.
2012!Alex: He is a biological brother of the Turtles (it was never confirmed whether or not the Turtles are blood related, but I’m going to say that they are) who was separated from his family after he, the four Turtles and Splinter were all mutated. Alex lived alone in an alleyway for many years, and one day, he traveled to Japan and trained to learn martial arts under the Foot Clan. Once he turned fifteen, the Foot moved to New York, where he eventually escaped. Shredder found out of Alex’s escape, tracked him down and attacked him. After being found by Rufus, who is another one of my OCs, Alex was physically nursed back to health and soon found out he possessed spiritual powers. He one day met the Turtles, and in the aftermath of one of the Turtles’ missions, the five discovered that Alex was their brother. Alex then moved in to live with his brothers, and over time, his strength, powers, bond with his family members, and his ability to heal from his dark past grown stronger. These things helped Alex shape him into a powerful and strong warrior.
Few facts about 2012!Alex: His headcanon voice is Spyro the Dragon from “The Legend of Spyro” videogames (voiced by the one actor I constantly blog about here. ;P). Alex likes plain cheese or pepperoni pizza over the crazy concoctions made by Mikey. He also has a scar on his left shoulder from a fight with Super Shredder (new permanent design edition)
Rise!Alex: He is a Vallarta mud turtle that is part Kappa by descent (one of his ancestors was a turtle Yōkai, thus why he has his powers) and was captured by Baron Draxum’s forces to be used as one of his warriors. After Lou Jitsu got involved and escaped with the four turtles (as of April 28th, we don’t know how Lou got caught up in the Turtles’ origins), Alex was accidentally left behind. Upon searching for pieces of the Kuroi Yoroi, the Foot stumbled upon the infant Alex and took him in, where he was raised as a Foot soldier. The Foot eventually discovered that Alex possessed mystical powers (since he is part Kappa), and they also trained him to master his abilities. Soon, after the Lieutenant and Brute crossed paths with the Turtles, Alex began encountering the alleged enemies and got caught up in their misadventures. After discovering some of his origins upon encountering and working with Baron Draxum, as well as seeing how the Turtles share their bond with each other, Alex began to question if his destiny was with the Foot. Eventually, he becomes allies and an adoptive brother of the Turtles when the threat of the Foot became serious. Although raised to be a dangerous and cunning warrior, Alex’s time with the Turtles has softened his rough exterior.
Few facts about Rise!Alex: His mystic weapon are a pair of gloves with crystal orbs that help him channel his power by creating shields and barriers that are offensive and defensive (thanks again @rad-squillz for helping me choose out Alex’s new weapon!). Alex is a part of the Foot Clan throughout the majority of Rise of the TMNT’s first season. He also is older than Donnie, Leo and Mikey, but he is the shortest standing just under five feet (and Mikey’s shoulders), because his turtle species is one of the world’s smallest.
Let me know if you want to see the completed version once I get to it! Also, I can’t decide what Rise!Alex’s headcanon voice would be. Got any suggestions? Feel free to message me! (Ask board is currently closed due to avoiding any Endgame spoilers. Will be reopened soon!)

merlin wakes abruptly to a voice echoing through his mind, calling his name. he lays in bed a moment longer, chasing the distant presence, the strained call, until it repeats itself.
'merlin.'
he knows the voice, of course. knows it as well as he knows his own.
'kilgharrah?' he returns, as he stares blankly at the ceiling. 'what is it? is everything alright?'
is aithusa alright? the question lingers, unasked but understood.
'yes,' the great dragon says. 'but it will not be if the young one continues their valiant attempts to follow you home.'
merlin pushes himself out of bed slowly, not sure what he's meant to do with this information but sure he will not find further rest tonight. he debates the advantages of changing out of his sleep clothes, then readily dismisses them in favor of shoving his boots on and quietly making his way out of the physician's chambers. half a thought is spared to nab his jacket as he passes it.
'where are you?' he asks, though he already sets off to return to the dragon's clearing.
a pause, long enough that merlin slows to a halt in the middle of the hall, is all the response he gets. the dragon is still there, hovering at the edge of his senses. merlin prods at the presence, and receives a wave of irritation in return.
'i,' the great dragon says, 'am where i always am. the young one, however, has taken off toward camelot. i cannot follow them any further.'
merlin hears what is left unsaid clearly. they're your problem now.
that's alright, he thinks, though he presses the heels of his palms into his drooping eyes. when his hands fall back to his sides, a small, tired grin pulls at his lips. he can hardly protest more time spent with the tiny dragon.

Note
tell us all about your character ideas.
Well, since you asked~
Avedon- pretentious fashion designer/artist that is 100% extra. He’s all about that New Wave aesthetic - He has the classic Flock of Seagulls haircut, for example. Not sure if he’s a sidereal or exigent, but his charmset/ martial art style revolves around photography (which is the homebrew martial arts that I want to draw up anyhow.) Regardless, it’s kind of like Obsidian Shards of Infinity Style, but more about hold the world as a static image, and then warping it- that sort of thing. Anyhow, Avedon is a practitioner/exalt of this style, and is driven to perfect his art and understanding thereof, but finds that the images that he grabs have less and less humanity- opening the door for a good ol’ tortured artist storyline.
Nero Fallon- Man with No Name type wanderer from the south. Endless series of misadventures and weird experiences under the belt- so much so that traveling partners start doubting which of his stories are true and which aren’t. Did he unlock his essence before ever exalting by winning a kilo of celestial cocaine off one of Plenimon’s exigents in a restricted poker game in the depths of Gem? Was he a member of the Seventh Legion for three months before his commanding officer realized he was an Anathema? Did he really exalt after impressing a Western god of Popular Music because he wandered into their concert while drunk, and thought it was open air karaoke? Is he legally a Bride of Arhat? No one can really say for sure, but he is an Exigent of music with plenty of skill and weird contacts galore, so maybe there is some truth in between those tales... Either way, he’s definitely an excuse for me to cobble together a charmset based on Clutch song titles/lyrics, which is great.
Bancho Kojuro- Rebellious Dragon Blooded. Born into House Cathak, Kojuro was a hellion who was eventually consigned to the Palace of the Untamed Storm in a last ditch effort to break him into shape. It didn’t quite work, but as he exalted as an Air Aspect in his fifth year, the House was willing to put a bit more effort into refining him into a useable tool. Seeing that he would still fail or flee from the House of Bells or Pasiap’s Stair (as one of his big points of rebellion was a hatred of the military and that structure), they pulled some strings and got him into the Cloister of Wisdom. He’s now graduated and made his way out into the world, but the Cloister didn’t quench his spirit- only tempered it. He’s now more disciplined with a hatred of the Great Game and the cloying social structures of the Dynast system, has a “borrowed” artifact reaper daiklave at his side, and a Sworn Kinship with several ex-Untamed Storm students who are looking to raise hell.
Those are the three that I really know enough about to give a writeup on at this moment- the others are still at the one sentence concept point- if that. And of course, that’s not counting the ones who are just direct references to something else, because that’s really not fair to include. Thanks for asking!

A Fen/Femhawke Baby Fic List
A Fenris/FemHawke family/pregnancy/baby fic lists. Still a WIP. Only criteria is that it is FemHawke/Fenris, and it can’t be sad/depressing (I’m looking at you “Here Lies the Abyss” fics). Send me recs! Edit: 10/19/17 New stories added, Natural by Cannibal Kats and several at the bottom.
“Hiding, Not Quite Hidden” by Brosca-Pride. Hawke and Fenris, together forever, even if it means hiding themselves and children from everything.
“Was it Worth it:?” by CannibalKats. Just a short piece about Fenris and Dahl Hawke during Inquisition. Bonus Papa Fenris.

“Natural” by CannibalKats. A short bit of fluff. The birth of Fenris and Dahl's first child. While not graphic childbirth is described from Fenris' pov.
“Wander Wild and Far.” by Spirrum. After Adamant Hawke leaves for Weisshaupt as planned, but finds instead an entirely different adventure, a stray Fereldan Queen, a dragon, and that being pregnant wile the world is ending is not all that it’s cracked up to be.
“So Much Hinges on a Maybe.” by Spirrum. Hawke and Fenris, and trying to get pregnant.

“The Elf and the Babe” by Gaqalesqua. Fenris, romanced by a female Hawke, turns up at Skyhold wearing a baby sling with a baby in it. Trevelyan investigates.
“The Life We’ve Wrought” by ClockWorkSymmetry. Hawke x Fenris is adorable.
Wil and Cro Hawke Series by NovemberOcean (TwilightHawke). An AO3 collection.
“A Change in Principles” by K4t3yk4t. He hadn’t expected things to end up like this. Of course, there had been signs, and of course, they’d planned for it, but he had never expected anything like this to happen. Not to him. He feels rooted; an immobilization worse than any command had ever caused, worse than seeing Hawke nearly die, worse, so much worse. And yet...
“Ardently” by Uniqueinalltheworld. When Marian Hawke decided to leave her children with responsible adults before helping the inquisition, she had counted on being able to find one somewhere. Unfortunately, it seems like Anders and Fenris will have to do.
“Dawn” by Alistairweekend. “Mm...your kid before five in the morning.”
“Hawkquisition Series & other Stories” by Rannadylin. Most of her work has a baby or pregnancy existing somewhere. Special mention goes to Sapling.

“A Different Kind of Magic” by sevanderslice. Fenris’s thoughts after the birth of his children.
“Finally together, Birds of a Feather, part 1″ by Hatsepsut. Fenris and Hawke are together after three years, and their relationship evolves. Moving in together, falling even deeper in love, going through the paces that are life, having a family, while the world crashes around their ears.
“Come Back to Me.” by Hatsepsut. Fenris leaves he City of Chains after the night he spends with Hawke; heavy words had been exchanged and everything between them looked hopeless. Eleven months later, he is back, determined to win the affection of the woman he can't forget again. But she seems to have a secret...
“On Waking” by loquaciousquark. Years after the events of Act III, Hawke and Fenris’s six-year-old daughter tries to figure out her mother’s past, her place in the tiny town of Wilhaven, and why her father never wakes up. AUTHORS SEAL OF APPROVAL.
“No Labor Like Love” by loquaciousquark. Hawke is pregnant. Fenris copes as best he can; everyone else laughs from a distance. A series of unconnected vignettes spanning the pregnancy of a Champion. AUTHORS SEAL OF APPROVAL. The quintessential pregnancy/family fic.
“Given Respite” by loquaciousquark. Dorian meets Fenris. An interlude set after “Here Lies The Abyss.” Same universe as On Waking? AUTHORS SEAL OF APPROVAL. Honestly anything written by loquacious is amazing but this is a BABY fic list but seriously do yourself a favor and devour their work. Has a “sequel” written by Jade_Sabre called “Memorare” but not very related to this list either.
“A Deafening Sound” by loquaciousquark. Fenris and his newborn daughter.
“Whats that Holiday fic” by loquaciousquark. Carver meets his newborn nephew. This. THIS. This is the story I started this list looking for. I knew I wasn’t crazy! But on tumblr of all places???
“More Beach fic” by loquaciousquark. The fam is at the beach.
“I Mourn your Absence.” by loquaciousquark. Fenris and Leda go after Hawke.
“In Retrospect, a chicken was a bad choice.” by jadesabre301. The title says it all. Features laquaciousquark’s Leda Hawke.
“Always Safe with Us.” by Tadeusz. Hawke thought raising a baby with a trio of parents would be easier than with just two. That’s hilarious, Hawke. Totally cute that you think that. All it does is create more confusion about who has to get up when that baby cries at night.
“Hands and Feet” by Toffle. The revelation does not come in ice, or fire. It comes only with a gentle touch.
“Celebration” by Scurvaliciousbay. Fenris wakes up to Katra making a cake for their daughter’s first birthday. “Three Words” is a sequel. Fenris is putting his daughter to bed when she says something unexpected.
“New Beginnings” by onemooncircles. Heading home after concluding his business with the Inquisition, Varric pays a visit to some friends he has lied through his teeth to protect.
“The Wolf Within” by Ivy_Adair. Five years after Fenris left Marian Hawke behind in Kirkwall, he returns to discover that some things never change but others, like the addition of a little girl with black hair and green eyes, change completely. He mush come full circle to realize that he isn’t his past and that the wolf within him won’t be his future. A modern!AU.
“Medela” by mahuika. It surprises him, as it always has, how resilient a heart can be when he’s so used to seeing them ripped out and half-beating in his hand. Or, Varania is invited to meet her niece. AUTHORS SEAL OF APPROVAL.
“Exhale” by Chalahandra. Rhonwen gurgles, pushing herself up from the quilt. It’s a sunny day, with birds chirping and people talking quietly - and for the first time in a very long time, Fenris lets himself smile.
“A Cold Winter Day.” by Pinkwebby. Hawke has been pregnant for nine months, and she is ready to give birth to this child. Is she really ready to have a kid though?
“Playing in the Rain” by servantofclio. Hawke watches her partner and children in the rain. Has sequal “A Reunion and a Reckoning.” Fenris catches up to Hawke at Skyhold.
Dragon Age: Generations Series by DancingMantis. Roots and Wings more relevant to list.
“She Came Back.” by LittleWritings. Fenris finds Hawke at Weishaupt. Its a little rough but different than most.
While you were Sleeping Series by hollandmarie. VERY CUTE.
“The Hawke Child.” by CaptainStornChaser. "Am I the father?" He asked her, standing from where he had been waiting for her inside the entrance hall of her estate, reminiscent of the night the child may very well have been conceived.Marian merely stared at him evenly for a few moments. "You should go home, Fenris."
“What If.” by RaddishRodya. Hawke and Fenris have a discussion about what would happen if they had children. Also, Fenris learns how to play dictionary tag.
“Hesitations” by wiltedartist. Dehlian Hawke knows one thing and thing only: She has no idea as to how she will inform Fenris he will be a father. Sequel “The Empty Thirst.” How strange, he realized to himself, that he never knew just how much he needed one thing. Control. Fenris!F!Hawke, pregnant sex and dominant Fenris
“Mama Bird” by sparkyarcher. Elia comes home to a suspiciously quiet estate. Adorableness ensues.
“Another Heart” by aryadeschain. One sleepless night turned out to present Fenris a pleasant surprise.
“For What it’s Worth” by Nyessa. Years after Isabela runs away from Kirkwall with the Tome of Koslun, Imogen Hawke catches up to her in Denerim to settle some unfinished business.
“Dragon Age Prompts” by Jawbones. Chap. 4 “Lullaby” "The way you said 'I love you': Not said to me" Might be more in series.
“A Hawkling Tale.” by Sportsoma. Hawke surely does, and there's a little memento in case she wants to forget. However, being a mage and fearing the Chantry will take her expected bundle of joy, Hawke flees Kirkwall. Also a series sharing same name.
“Under the Skin.” by Lavender_Seaglass. After all that she's been through, Hawke doesn't plan on going anywhere else, let alone leaving him behind. This is, however, not something she's sure how to face. Doing things is easy; it's the regrets that kill you.
“Unplanned Consequences.” by Dragondreads. When Hawke finds herself in the awkward position of being pregnant after the only night of passion she found with Fenris, she turns to her friend Varric for help
“Sweet Vermouth” by AngelicSentinel. Fenris would do anything for Hawke—Even conquer the Fade itself.
“I remain at your side.” by Lourdes23. When Kirkwall fell so did its Champion. Changed by betrayal, hunted and outcast, Hawke must find the strength to rise up once more in defense of a world gone mad. Yet humans can only withstand so much before desperation drives them beyond reason. When she's at her breaking point, and the weight of her duties seems too much to bear, who will stand with her and share the burden?Who will champion the Champion?
“New Beginnings.” by Jessica Pendragon. He has dealt in death for so long and now only wants to hold life in his hands.
“Find Your Own Way Back Home.” by locketofyourhair. These books are slim, without names on the covers, and when he opens one, he can see that some of the pages are blank. Others are covered with small handwriting that he knows well, and it feels like a blow to see it again. They are journals; they are Hawke’s journals. He reads them as he finds himself adrift without her.
“Of Sausages and Surprises.” by RedIn. It was one of those evenings when her mother tried to make a noble fragile flower of her. She invited Comtesse Berauear and her two cocky daughters; Lizzeta and Pavetta. It was meant to be a boring, annoying evening or so Hawke thought.Sandal was the last person who she thought would interrupt the boredom of their well-mannered Hightown style party.
“Foxes on the Run” by ms45. Hawke gives birth whilst on the run from the Chantry.
“Milk” by Persephone. Hawke/LI - Lactating. Smut.
“Only You.” by kellbelle. This is a story of Hawke fleeing Kirkwall alone, having never romanced anyone and believing the man she loves could never love her back.
“Isabela and the Dread Pirate Captain Hook” by Dakoyone. Isabela tells a story from her grand pirating adventure days to the littlest Hawkes. No actual mention of Fenris but all her other stories are Fenhawke and there is a father so...
“That Which is Lost” by Niamh_St_George. A decade after the events in Kirkwall, Amelle Hawke and Fenris have made a quiet life for themselves. But when their idyll is shattered, Fenris discovers that while men are dealt with easily enough, it is once again magic standing poised to take everything away.

Webcomic Recommendations
Since I figure there’s people out there always looking for new webcomics (like myself), I decided to make a list of the ones I’m reading/have read! They’re all free to access, and I’ll include the comic’s official “description” under its title, if it has one (also, the comics’ titles are links to the website hosting them). The list is below the cut, and separated into “Ongoing” (as of 3/15/2019) and “Complete/Never to be Continued" (for the latter, I’ll indicate which in the description). Note: These are not necessarily intended for young audiences!
Ongoing
Dog Eat Dog
“None are left without the influence of Man's unyielding, cruel hand. If given the choice, whose blood would stain your teeth if it meant you could finally be free?”
Home (Sequel to Asmundr, see “Completed”)
“Two years have passed since the plague of the Shield Wolf was defeated, but the increasing threat from an unknown source to the small family of Asmundr have left them no choice but to leave their home. In the new land, their prayers and questions to their gods are only answered in silence, as the dangers of this land become their new reality. Survival leads to some separating from their family for knowledge and adventure, but the trials and tribulations are ever daunting.”
Lackadaisy
[No description]
Mokepon
“He wants to be the very best! That no one ever was... uh, no. Scratch that. Adventures and friendship were never something that appealed to Atticus... Shame that it's a pokemon world he lives in, and so teenage boys living in Pallet Town are not expected to sit idly by. But the life of a hero is not one he's about to consider; too much hard work for little reward, and so instead he embarks on his quest not to become the greatest... But at least, the richest. Although the biggest challenge may be ignoring the adventures and friendships which may attempt to ensnare him along the way...”
Prague Race
“Prague Race is the story of a girl who’s always wanted more--she just didn’t expect it to come in the form of a handy parasite living in her back. With only one year left to live, she’s going to make the most of it in the strange secret world behind the veil.”
The Property of Hate
[No description]
Wilde Life
“Wilde Life is a supernatural adventure/horror series set in a small town in rural Oklahoma. It focuses on stories about creatures from Native American mythology as witnessed and documented by a journalist from Chicago, Illinois.”
DNA
“Sirius and his friends never asked to exist, and, really, none of them should. Despite this, here they are, and existing when you shouldn’t brings with it complications.”
The Glass Scientists
“The city of London is not the best place to be a mad scientist. Thirty years after the death of the infamous Dr. Frankenstein, its citizens have gotten awfully good at killing creatures, destroying laboratories, and generally wrecking anything new or strange-looking ... Together with his Society for Arcane Science, he can end the reign of fear and superstition that has held London captive for decades so long as no one discovers his one little secret, a secret that could ruin him and unravel the lives of everyone he knows. This man’s name is Dr. Henry Jekyll.”
Ghost of the Gulag
[No description]
Victory Fire
[No description]
Skin Deep
“Skin Deep was born out of an interest in mythology, folklore, music, world-building, and the idea that things are often more than they seem, and that it is easy to hide secrets when nobody is expecting them.”
How to be a Werewolf
“Since being bitten by a strange wolf as a child, Malaya Walters has attempted to live a quiet life… hopefully a life free of attempting to eat her family or the customers at her family’s coffee shop. Being the only werewolf she’s ever known, Malaya has managed her condition by keeping tight control on herself and the world around her, with lackluster results. That is, until a strange guy wanders into her shop one day and introduces her to a whole world she never knew existed…”
Daughter of the Lilies
“Daughter of the Lilies is a comic largely about the importance self-worth, the different forms love can take, how it can redeem and empower us, as well as issues relating to anxiety. (There are also unicorns, manticores, ghouls, goblins, cannibalistic elves, dragons, gods, fairies, ghosts, werewolves, demons, angels, and so on.)”

Things swiftly got ugly after that.In the early 1990s, Aetheri’s leadership changed, and in the Archipelago, a tiny broken family of half-siblings banded together in the face of the bile and hate that was boiling up between the humans and the non-humans.In the early 2000s, that family was split apart. Hawk Press and his sister Liya Kiski both begin a long and exhaustive journey towards understanding the difference between friend and enemy–and between the family you’re given, and the family you make.”
Emporium
“Nestled high in the mountains rests a strange little building, home to a vast collection of strange and unusual items, maintained by equally strange and unusual employees. Suddenly abandoned among these misfits, an unusually loquacious dog struggles to find her place alongside the mayhem and monsters housed within the mysterious Emporium.”
Doe of Deadwood
“A deer is indebted to a demon tree.”
Africa
“Africa tells the story of a female leopard, the struggles and challenges she has to face every day and her rivalry with a male leopard who threatens to take her land. Raised and educated the way of the leopards, Africa has learned that living alone is the best way of life, and that depending on someone else is a sign of weakness. This belief she has will be continuously tested, and she will have to prove herself to demonstrate its validity. Could a leopard actually live in a pride?”
Fragile
“A wolven woman and her one-winged traveling companion are searching for her long lost son, when they get dragged into something far bigger than the two of them.”

Title: Grave Peril
Author: Jim Butcher
Summary:
Harry Dresden - Wizard Lost Items Found. Paranormal Investigations. Consulting. Advice. Reasonable Rates. No Love Potions, Endless Purses, or Other Entertainment.
Harry Dresden has faced some pretty terrifying foes during his career. Giant scorpions. Oversexed vampires. Psychotic werewolves. It comes with the territory when you're the only professional wizard in the Chicago-area phone book.
But in all Harry's years of supernatural sleuthing, he's never faced anything like this: The spirit world has gone postal. All over Chicago, ghosts are causing trouble - and not just of the door-slamming, boo-shouting variety. These ghosts are tormented, violent, and deadly. Someone - or something - is purposely stirring them up to wreak unearthly havoc. But why? And why do so many of the victims have ties to Harry? If Harry doesn't figure it out soon, he could wind up a ghost himself....
Rating: ★★★★★
Review:
I really, really liked this book. The humor was so on point, I loved Harry’s interactions with Michael. Michael was such a fun character and I’m glad we got a bit of a break from Murphy. The plot was cool and interesting things are being set up. I need to the next one badly.
We start Grave Peril with Harry speeding in his craptastic car to go bust some ghosts with a knight named Michael. Now that’s what I call a hook. Also Michael asks about Harry’s love life with Susan.
I know that Butcher is really pushing Susan and Harry, so much that Harry asks Susan to marry him at the end. But I fee like…Murphy and Harry are endgame.
“You’re tense. Grumpy. And you’re isolating yourself more all the time. You need to keep up human contact, Harry. It would be so easy for you to start down a darker path.”—Page 5, Michael the Knight/Wise Sage of Loooooove.
We meet Michael Carpenter who is awesome. The next book is called Summer Knight which makes me hopefully that Michael is there.
“Anything to avoid another Inquisition”, god I love this book.
“My first rampant instincts were to give her a cup of hot chocolate, put a blanket around her shoulders, tell her everything would be all right and strap my talisman onto her wrist.”—Page 31
God, Harry is such a sweetie.
Harry, you’ve finally learned that not trusting people usually gets you and/or them into more trouble.
“‘Holy shit,’ I breathed. ‘Hellhounds.’ ‘Harry,’ Michael said sternly. ‘You know I hate it when you swear.’ ‘You’re right. Sorry. Holy shit,’ I breathed. ‘heckhounds.’”—Page 43
I love these two. I also really love Michael. He’s always grinning and is such a sweetheart. I just want him to be Harry’s family.
I get the feeling that Harry’s godmother is nothing like Cinderella’s.
And, I already don’t like Michael’s wife. Back off, lady, there’s going to be a bromance. Also I don’t know if Harry’s being serious when he says that Michael saved Charity from a firebreathing dragon. I mean in this series anything is possible.
Oh, great, vampires. Oh, great, Susan wants to go to the vampire ball. That’s not going to be dangerous at all.
“I jerked a thumb at Michael. ‘I did seek God’s help. Heck, is one Knight of the Cross not enough? I could always put out the Bat-signal for the other two.’”—Page 90
I love Harry, he’s significantly more sassy around Michael.
Michael, don’t hate on Bob, he’s the greatest.
“She was getting to where had a pretty good grasp on the local preternatural predators, at least the most common of them, but when things got hairy she still called me in.”—Page 105
Was that a pun?
Did the Joker’s laughing gas get to Micky? Apparently that wire around Agatha was around Micky and boy was that a horrifying scene.
Who is the Winter Queen and what history does she have with Bob?
“All right, all right. It could be something big enough. Something so big that even a fraction of it was enough to attack Malone and lay that spell on him. Maybe a god someone’s dug up. Hecate, Kali, or one of the Old Ones.”—Bob, Page 139
Wait a minute, Hecate, like the Greek goddess? According to Google Kali is a Hindu goddess. Gods exist in this universe. Weird. Also who are the Old Ones? I love and also get incredibly frustrated by Jim Butcher dropping world building hints like this.
“Bob sighed. ‘It blew through a threshold.’ ‘So…’ I said, pacing and whirling. ‘Maybe it had some other way to get around the threshold. What if it had an invitation?’ ‘How could it have gotten that?’ Bob said. ‘Ding-dong, Soul Eater Home Delivery, may I come in?’ ‘Bite me,’”—Page 140
I love these two.
We found Lydia and Kyle the vampire is here for some reason. Shit, Kelly got Harry drugged.
Oh god, Harry had a horrible nightmare and now he’s sobbing. My poor, sweetie.
So apparently Michael, killed a demon with his magic sword and now it’s a ghost trying to get revenge.
Oh shit, the Nightmare ate some of Harry’s magic and now it’s even more powerful. We are so screwed.
“She let out a low groan. ‘The baby,’ she said. ‘Oh, I think…I think my water broke earlier. When I fell.’ Her face twisted, flushing bright red, and she groaned again. ‘Oh,’ I said. ‘Oh. Oh, no. No, this is not happening.’ I put the heel of my hand to my forehead. ‘This is just wrong.’ I shot an accusing glance skywards. ‘Someone up there has a sick sense of humor.’”—Page 208
Charity’s only purpose in this story is to scowl at Harry and be a pregnant woman cliché. Water breaking at an inconvenient time cliché *ding*.
Oh god, Harry lost Michael’s sword. Ugh, this is awful. Charity might not be able to have any more babies and his newborn might die. Jesus Christ, Butcher leave poor Michael alone.
I think that Susan has some really important information and you should call her back immediately.
“‘I still can’t believe,’ Michael said, sotto voce, ‘that you came to the Vampires’ Masquerade Ball dressed as a vampire.’ ‘Not just a vampire,’ I said, ‘a cheesy vampire. Do you think they got the point?’”—Page 251
Oh god, Harry you dork. How on earth have you not gotten yourself killed? The fact that you presumably live through like seventeen of these books never ceases to amaze me.
“She wore a gown of flickering flame. I don’t mean that she wore a red dress—she wore flame, gathered about her in the shape of an evening gown, blue at its based fading through the color of a candle to red as it cupped her full, gorgeous breasts. More flame danced and played through the elegant piled of her dark hair, flicking over her like a tiara.”—Page 254
Bianca was the girl on fire before it was cool.
Oh great, Harry has been poisoned. Also, I don’t know how to feel about Thomas. I kind of want to trust him but I think trusting him will be a bad idea.
A dragon? On a scale (haha see what I did there?) of 1-10 of things not to do, pissing off an all powerful dragon is about over 9,000.
Susan, you’ve got to be fucking kidding me. I can’t believe you came. How could you be so stupid? Oh and of course by crashing the party, anyone can eat you. Goddammit Susan you’re so stupid! Wait a minute, Susan. You’re not seriously considering making a deal with Harry’s Godmother. And now Susan doesn’t remember Harry.
Harry dressed up as a cheesy vampire and Bianca raised him a tombstone with his name on it. Damn.
This is probably going to bite me in the butt but I trust Thomas. I know that he betrayed us but he gave Michael back his sword.
Oh god, Susan turned into a vampire. Like this is the worst book for Susan. So Harry saves the day alongside his ghost. Although now the White Council and the Vampires are at war so that’s not good. And the White Council is coming to Chicago. That’ll be exciting.
I can’t believe that Michael and Charity named their baby “Harry” like I totally saw it coming but c’mon. Also, I’m super sad that Susan rejected Harry, mostly because I want Harry to be happy.
Jim Butcher should create a series called “The Fabulous Misadventures of Michael the Knight and Thomas the Sex Vampire”. I’d read the hell out of that series.
I think that’s a good place to leave off on. Now time to wait for Summer Knight to get here.
