Chapter 10: I Adore You
Bellamy emerged from the bathroom, trying to ignore the dull ache in his cheek, and almost immediately bumped into Clarke, who looked beyond frantic.
“Bellamy?” She gasped, “Where the hell have you been?”
“Sorry, it’s been a mess; I had to run an errand and then my car broke down and I didn’t have signal and then I lost track of time,” he started, but she backed up against the wall, practically hyperventilating. “Whoa, whoa, whoa, Clarke, what’s going on?”
He cupped her jaw in his hands and she gripped at his forearms to steady herself, but there were tears streaming down her cheeks and she was clearly struggling to get ahold of her breathing. And, just his luck, that was the moment when Shaw decided to emerge from the bathroom. He had to admit, it looked pretty bad – he was crowding Clarke against the wall while she gripped at his forearms and sobbed – so he couldn’t really blame the man for getting the wrong idea.
“Hey, what the hell are you doing?” Zeke yelled, striding towards them, but Bellamy shook his head, eyes deadly serious.
“Back up, Shaw,” he ordered, as calm as he could possibly be, given the situation.

Set nearly five years after the end of I Don't Need Your Love (I Just Need You Now), with The Griffin Agency a well-establishing law firm/PI agency, and Clarke renowned as a brilliant lawyer throughout Polis.
For the third year in a row, they're hiring ten interns in order to whittle them down to two people to hire by the end of two weeks. AND for the third year in a row, they're vetting them in a... slightly unique way.
When Shaw arrives, he doesn't expect the atmosphere to be as casual as it is, and he certainly doesn't expect to be completely bowled over by someone as intelligent and beautiful as Raven Reyes working there. He also isn't expecting one of his bosses to be constantly hitting on the other one, despite her clear disinterest, and he decides to put a stop to it.

Chapter 8: This Hell Feels Better With You
Clarke emerged, looking weary, and walked to Bellamy’s side, observing the screen over Monty’s shoulder as he pulled up the request.
Bellamy wanted to hold her hand.
She swayed closer and he lifted his arm, palm sliding around her waist to the small of her back, and he felt her relax slightly, right before she remembered where they were and tensed up, brushing his hand away and straightening. She took a small step away from him, frustration on her face at having to move, and he let his hand fall away, barely refraining from trying to tug her back to him.
“Yeah I think we can take the case,” Clarke said, and Bellamy snapped back into the moment.
Right. He was at work. “I agree.”
“Good,” Clarke nodded and beat a hasty retreat back to her office.
“I hate this,” Bellamy muttered.
“You’ll get through this,” Harper said, referring to the both of them. “You always do.”
“Yeah. Yeah, I guess so.” He returned his attention to the case, trying very hard not to dwell on it.

Chapter 9: Shadow Boxing
Diyoza observed the array of drinks at the bar for a moment before ordering a whiskey and putting down a wad of cash beside it. At Shaw’s confused look, she smirked. “For the bet.”
“Speaking of the bet, where’s Bellamy?” Lincoln glanced around. “Isn’t he supposed to be hosting this thing?”
“I don’t know,” Jasper’s brow furrowed as he tried to recall. “Actually, I haven’t seen him in hours. He helped set everything up and then he told us he was running an errand and as far as I know he hasn’t been back since. He didn’t say anything to you?”
Both Octavia and Lincoln shook their heads, and Diyoza threw back her finger of whiskey before she said, “Nope.”
“Weird,” Jasper pondered as he poured her another.
“Speaking of Bellamy, is it true he’s bringing his wife to this thing?” Shaw asked.
Diyoza choked on her drink.
Lincoln patted her on the back while she coughed and Octavia looked like she was trying to hide a smile behind her daughter’s head. “Uh, yeah, she’ll be around here somewhere.”

Chapter 6: The Truth Can Be A Weapon
One of their cases causes some friction in the office, McCreary remains creepy af, Shaw and Raven have a moment alone, and Clarke is barely keeping afloat.
***  “How could he?” Roma said quietly.
“Hm?” Shaw tore his eyes away from the screen to find Roma staring at the crime scene photos.
“Whichever one of them did this, if they did… they know her. Titus is her stepfather, he’s known her for her whole life. Gustus is her old college buddy, Semet is her cousin - I just don’t understand how any of them could take a gun, walk up to the girl they know, and shoot her fiance, point blank, in the chest. How could any of them do something like that?”
He reached over and squeezed her hand. “I don’t know. But if one of them did it, we’ll get him. Okay?”
She smiled wanly. “Okay.”
“Gun,” he realised, releasing her hand so he could type frantically into the search bar.
“What?” She leaned forward, interested.
“They would have to have had a gun. Either they bought it just for the attack, or they already owned it, and either way it might help us narrow things down,” he said, scrolling through, and she did the same on her laptop, checking her guy. He frowned. “Gustus doesn’t own a gun.”
“Neither does Titus.”
Shaw froze, fingers hovering over the keyboard. “Three guesses what kind of gun Semet owns?”
Roma set her jaw. “Pistol?”
He turned the screen so she could see. “Exactly the kind of pistol used to shoot Costia.”
