September 18, 1966: After a weekend break in Paris with Paul, Brian, and Neil, John travels to Carboneras, Spain to continue filming How I Won The War. He first stays in a seafront hostel, Delfin Verde (The Green Dolphin). Here, he picks up his nylon-stringed Spanish guitar and a tape recorder and works on It's Not Too Bad, a rough idea that will evolve into Strawberry Fields Forever. To accommodate his visitors (Cynthia, Ringo, Maureen, and others), he later moves to a spacious villa, Santa Isabel, and continues to shape the song. The villa bears a distinct similarity to the grounds of the children's home that John visited as a child and may have unlocked memories to inspire the song's title. Before leaving, he writes "Santa Isabel Demos" on the tape.
These demos were released as a bootleg in 1997. The distinct "let me take you down" part of the song shows up at 5 minutes in, but it's missing the song title. Wait another minute to hear John to name it directly.
The back of the bootleg includes a tracklist with take numbers. It's not quite clear how those were decided; they look incorrect to me. I've used the Nothing Is Real numbers to give the timestamps for each: 00:00 Warm-up 00:28 Take 1 01:16 Take 2 02:38 Take 3 04:09 Take 4 05:58 Takes 5 & 6 08:13 Rehearsal

After the first pilot was rejected, Star Trek was almost completely recast with the exception of Mr Spock (Leonard Nimoy). The first episode of Star Trek aired on September 8, 1966. While The Man Trap was the first episode to air, it was actually the 6th one produced. Supposedly it was chosen as having more action than the other episodes. It was also supposedly one of the least favorites of Leonard Nimoy and William Shattner. The episode took place during 2266 (eleven years after the events of The Cage, which was the original pilot and later recut as The Menagerie). The episode introduced Captain James T Kirk (William Shatner), Dr McCoy (DeForest Kelley), Yeoman Janice Rand (Grace Lee Whitney), Sulu (George Takei), Uhura (Nichelle Nichols), and (off screen) Montgomery Scott (James Doohan). ("The Man Trap", Star Trek, TV, Event)

The Apollo 4 Lunar Test Article 10R (LTA-10R) at the Manned Spacecraft Operations Building (MSOB) at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, prior to its assembly and mating with the Spacecraft Lunar Module Adapter (SLA-8).
"Since the objectives of the Apollo 4 mission did not include the LM, a boilerplate model designated LTA-10R was carried instead by SA-501 to simulate the mass and dynamic properties of this part of the payload. With a mass of 13.4 metric tons, LTA-10R consisted of a flight-type LM descent stage without landing gear topped by a ballasted aluminum structure to simulate the ascent stage.
Tumblr media
Originally built as LTA-10 by Grumman for use in fit checks and separation tests by North American for its SLA work, it was refurbished to become LTA-10R for use as a flightworthy stand-in for the LM in the Apollo 4 mission. The propellant tanks of the mock descent stage were filled with a water-glycol mixture and Freon to simulate the characteristics of fuel and oxidizer for the LM propulsion system.
Tumblr media
Instrumentation mounted on 36 points on LTA-10R would return data on the dynamics of the structure during the first 12 minutes of flight. No flight instrumentation was included in the simulated ascent stage structure. LTA-10R would remain attached to the spent S-IVB stage after separation of the CSM and be destroyed along with the spent stage during reentry over the Pacific."

Star Trek Day
People around the world mark Star Trek Day on September 8 to celebrate the legacy of one of the best stories, films, and T.V. shows in history. As one of the most beloved works of pop culture, “Star Trek” still enjoys a loyal fan base even after so many years. Ever since the release of the first T.V. show in the series, the “Star Trek” universe kept garnering attention and wonder at its hope-filled and futuristic vision.
History of Star Trek Day
“Star Trek” was initially conceived as a T.V. series about the cosmos. The first episode was aired in 1966, on September 8, the date of the holiday. Although the ratings of this first series kept dropping throughout the season, later installations proved much more successful. The show was canceled after some years. However, in 1969, reruns of the show helped garner a cult following.
The first “Star Trek” convention was organized in 1972, which was attended by thousands of fans, surprisingly. This attested to the success of the show and the originality of its premise, which later led to the network, Paramount, reviving the series. Paramount produced the “Star Trek” animated series, which won an Emmy Award, as well as The Motion Picture, which performed fairly well at the box office.
The first major success of the Star Trek saga would be “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan,” the second film in the series. Star Trek would eventually amass six film productions, all of which are now considered classics. Later on, in 1987, Paramount would reintroduce the Star Trek universe back into television, with the production of “Star Trek: The Next Generation.” As of the 2000s, “Star Trek” is by far the most successful franchise for Paramount, and will continue to release additional installations to the original work. Even now, several “Star Trek”-themed T.V. shows, animated series, and movies are still in production. This cultural significance is what makes “Star Trek” deserving of a dedicated annual celebration.

'"unlovable"'
i only love people who call themselves
'unlovable.'
this is about too many people to count.
so don't presume
that it isn't about you, because it is.
play solitaire
and i wanna join you, i wanna join up!
wait a fortnight,
but a lot more like the on-going game.
reckless, wreck me;
you sure are a walking contradiction, huh?
unlit fuse, cut.
you don't have to go out waving a white flag
before the punch comes,
and you don't have to bite the bullet, baby,
before they shoot guns.
but i guess that makes me a coward too, huh?
to brag without confessing.
