He is like just let me rest. His attitude here is so Sephiroth. I personally wouldn't dare wake him from his slumber. 🥶
This is legit one of the funniest expressions I've ever seen him have lmao if looks could kill. FULL pissy cat.

Sefikura Week 2024 | Day 7 - Ephemeral
Fandom: FF7
Characters: Sephiroth, Cloud Strife, Gaia
Ship: Cloud Strife x Sephiroth
Wordcount: 638
Underneath Gaia’s stars there are many wonders, but it has not always been so. Long ago, before humans overtook the ancients, even before giants roaming the realm; there was love.
The love lay between two primordials, more than god-like beings active before Gaia herself sprang into existence. The Orderly Dark One who would become known to humans by the name of Sephiroth, and The Chaotic Light One who would become known as Cloud. Though they were entities of conflicting domains, and though they were two, they lived as one.
How their love came to be, no one knows. But the force of it could not be denied or altered as they traversed the stars reshaping matter into existence as they pleased. Thus, they were known as The Lovers. And as is the convention for lovers, they begat a child.
(For all that they’re apart at the start of their new lives, Cloud and Sephiroth are very strange children. Sephiroth’s rigidity to order fascinates and frustrates Shinra. Had it not been for his ability to and preference for just melting into the dark shadows, he would have easily become the new poster child for malicious compliance. Cloud is nearly ungovernable, always reaching for the nearest light source be it an open flame or a bulb. Claudia worries for her wild son.)
When Gaia blossomed into existence, she was loved. Not by Sephiroth who held no regard for the child that he had not planned for; but by Cloud who adored all existence and welcomed most as his children. As Gaia bloomed into further greatness, Sephiroth could only watch, feeling as if he was slowly losing his other half.
Sephiroth refused to abide by this. Long before this child, and long after her too, Cloud would still love him. Cloud belonged to him and no upstart brat would get in the way of that. As he is wont to do, Sephiroth planned. Bending the universe to his will, his plans came to fruition and he sent Gaia a gift.
Upon opening the gift, Gaia was distraught, for instead she and her children fell prey to the curse Sephiroth had crafted. Even as she fell to grief, Gaia became enraged. Sephiroth had killed her children for naught but spite, and she would ensure that he paid for it.
(The ax forgets; the tree remembers)
As she lost herself in her own spite and her quest to avenge her children, Gaia schemed. The universe would not bend to her will as it did for Sephiroth thus alternative measures had to be taken.
She managed to lure Sephiroh into a trap and sealed him away. It would have been perfect were it not for Cloud. Upon his discovery of what she had done, he tried everything he could to reach his other half. But it was not to be. Even as he razed a path of destruction across the realms, he received no answers.
Heartbroken, but needing to protect herself and her children, Gaia sealed him away too.
As Gaia wept and grieved, she continued to create. Her tears would become the streams, lakes, rivers, and oceans of the world. She moved mountains to provide shelter for her new children. She erected shrines and temples to her first children, in the hopes that her succeeding children would not forget their predecessors, nor what led to their demise.
But even as she desperately built and shaped her new world, it was with the understanding that nothing she built would last.
(Cloud’s eyes meet Sephiroth’s and it is a quiet moment. There is no bang to announce the end of the world; only the subtle smirking twitch of Sephiroth’s lips. It was never a contest and the little upstart would soon learn her place. Cloud’s only true love is reserved for Sephiroth, and Sephiroth alone.)
A/N: it's 11:17pm where I'm at rn so this technically still counts! Anyway, theme was ephemeral so yadda yadda Cloud & Seph's love for anyone not themselves is..... well look at the theme of the day i guess
anyway i did write this in like 3 hours so it is rough and unedited and i'm gonna go to bed thinking about the lore i didn't get to put in for this new idea that i came up with literally less than 10 hours ago
also sorry to anyone looking for meaning from this because my inspiration was like norse mythology + cowherd & weaver girl + 'i bet on losing dogs' by mitski. have fun making something out of that, i certainly did!
as always, this'll be up on ao3 at an indefinite time in the future, cheers lads!
and importantly!!!! Thank you mod @sefikuraweek for consistently running this event! It always sparks a lot of joy! and even though I'm scared to reach out to people, genuinely thank you so much for your consistent efforts because it's what's inspiring me to make sure i don't miss publishing a sefikura fic during sefikura week for like the next 3 years at least. see you next year!

Plot elements that got my eyebrows rising but will probably be explained later down the line:
the timing of Zack (and Cloud)'s arrival in Midgar and the fallen Avalanche
The Midgar section of the game seems to occur over the span of 2-3 days, 4 maximum, if one were to count the number of sunrises and sunsets in Remake. Zack happens to survive and arrive exactly at the end of that, just after the Sephiroh/Whisper tornado hits Midgar... but this timing makes no sense. If he (and Cloud) arrived at Midgar after the plate drop, then then how could og!Cloud have met Tifa just in time to get involved in Avalanche's plans?
the fallen Avalanche
Another point which makes little to no sense: why are Red XIII and Aerith among the victims with Tifa and Barret? Aerith got involved with Avalanche through Cloud: if she hadn't met him, she wouldn't have known about the plate drop nor Seventh Heaven, and thus wouldn't have gone to go save Marlene. Thus, Tifa and Barret wouldn't have a reason to head for the Shinra tower to rescue her (and Red XIII on the side).
But even so, in Zack's timeline, all members of Avalanche sans Cloud were involved in the Sephiroth/Whisper tornado wreck, implying they met and formed a group even without Cloud's involvement. But how? And why?

I have a question, do you ship anyone in FF7?
I'm not a strong shipper, but I admit, I'm partial to AeriSeph (Love their dichotomy), Sefikura, SephZack (they have an amazing bond, okay?), and with writing the Domestic AU fics lately, CloTi because of how much Sephiroh and the Darling mirrors them. I'm a sucker for both foil and mirror character tropes.
I also really enjoy Sephiroth's friendship with Angeal!

Happy Friday, friendos!!! You made it!!! <3 Plz accept this totally random and neglected fic as a token of celebration!!! (Many apologies.)
x~x~x~x~x
"Seph, can I roll down the window?"
Green eyes never left the road ahead, blurring with cars and motorcycles as greasy ribbons streamed in the wind. "The air conditioning is already on." It was rather humid outside, and the man didn't particularly wish to smell the pollution.
"Not for that!" Zack slouched in his seat, restless fingers toying with the buckle. They were returning to base after an extermination mission in the heart of the city; with all the choppers currently occupied by Turks, it was one of the rare times they were forced to take the Jeep.
Sure, Zack never passed his exam, but there were countless perks to being a passenger.
Including...
"So, can I, bud?" Zack blinked innocently towards his friend, knowing he could see the puppy-dog plea in the rearview mirror.
Sephiroth scoffed. "We already turned on the radio," he argued, and with it, sacrificed his immunity to the pop music he had been tuning out. Still, just as he had conceded to humor Zack with the syrupy music, he found himself pressing the button by his side.
All the walls. Shattered.
Zack watched, starlight dancing in the sapphire eyes as his window began to rattle down… then his joy being cut short when the glass did the same, only traveling about halfway before freezing.
"Happy?" Sephiroth begrudgingly asked.
"Yep, but it can be all the way?"
Sephiroth was already scowling at the bangs whipping into his face. "...Fine." He was admittedly a little too drained to protest, sparing a quick glance to his friend who—
Proceeded to stick his head out.
"What in Gaia are you doing?" Sephiroth battled to be heard over the screeching wind. "Stop that."
Charcoal locks were thrown wildly in the gusts, lashing his face and the cobalt-blue eyes that could hardly keep up with the mesmerizing canvas of flurrying lights and signs. "Whooooohoooo!" he howled like a hound on his birthday. "No way, Seph! This is awesome!"
Since removing his hands from the wheel was probably unwise, Sephiroth could only grab his sleeve in desperation. "Stop that before I ensure your head meets a very ugly demise."
"You'd never!" Zack shouted back through his laughter, shaking his arm free from the gloved intruder and slinging it over the door. "Never, ever, ever! Whoooooh!"
Sephiroh needed both hands as he veered into a separate lane. Ifirt, Zack was right: he would never, but he had been hoping it would be enough to discourage him. They were speeding down a freeway, no traffic lights in sight, and his spearing voice was like a feather to the brunet’s ear.
"Whoooohhhaahaha! You gotta try this, Seph! It's like a roller coaster!" His stomach was pounding against his stomach, swirling and dancing and performing all sorts of acrobatics, swallowing greedy gulps of air stirred in their sixty-five-mile zoom. "Whoooooooooh!"
"Zachary," he tried again, snarling, darting between his best friend and the demanding highway.
"Seeeeeephiroth!" was his defiant response.
Admitting defeat, furious but not sure at whom, Sephiroth returned his undivided attention to the road. His mercury tresses flurried just as violently as his comrade's, although thankfully not blindingly. He had no choice but to sit there, bombarded by the music he had blasted for his friend, with the autotuned voices somehow adding fuel to Zack's wildfire. The brunet sang along, laughing, cheering, living his best life and ignoring all the peculiar stares from fellow drivers and passengers... nothing but the embodiment of Zack Fair.
And when Zack turned over his shoulder, grinning like the moon—being the moon in their smoggy world—Sephiroth returned It.
They finally reached headquarters a half hour later, much to Zack's disappointment. Sephiroth parked the Jeep in the nearest garage, swiping Masamune from the backseat while Zack retrieved Buster, teetering on his feet as he staggered out of the car.
Sephiroth swerved around the door to join him, only to find that Zack's hair resembled nothing less than as if a hurricane had manhandled it. He paused, blinking, digesting the... uncomfortable thought of his own hair (treasured like raw silver) succumbing to the same fate.
It took Zack a moment to realize what his friend was gaping at. He ran a hand through the matted spikes. "Yikes! That bad, huh? Guess I'll need to come in late tomorrow to brush it out, right?" He flashed his commander a smile of the same nature as a school student miserably failing to play hooky. Hey, Seph was an even bigger hair maniac than the ladies at the salon—it was worth a shot.
Sephiroth scoffed, beckoning for Zack to follow him into the nearby elevator. "Not a chance, Fair." Unfortunately, he was an even bigger workaholic.
"Daww..." Zack bemoaned, but he lit up with a grin as he trailed his friend through the sliding doors. "That was a blast! We oughta take more drives, bud."
Sephiroth folded his arms, leaning against the icy metal of ShinRa's elevator. "Please..."
"Aww, Seph..."
But Sephiroth's lips curled into a smirk as the elevator began to ascend, alone from the tumultuous and hungry eyes of the streets. He laid a hand on the boy's shoulder, giving it a squeeze.
"Gaia..." Sephiroth shook his head. "How did this ever happen?"
Zack mirrored the smirk. "Beats me."
I did this SO MUCH as a little bean until Hereditary rolled around. I was never allowed to again xD

Can I request HC for Sephiroh dating a female SOLDIER!reader?
Here you go, dear anon! Hope you have a good time reading.
Sephiroth x fem!Soldier!reader – dating Hcs
It's not easy to impress Sephiroth but the fact that a woman managed to get into Shinra's elite troops definitely catches his attention. Of course he knows that Shinra doesn't draw a distinction between men and women when it comes to their fighting abilities but it's unusual nevertheless that women decide to join SOLDIER.
That's probably one of the main reasons why he's interested in you at first. There's something about you that just fascinates him, even though he has a hard time figuring out the reason for it. He finds himself starting conversations with you every so often and notices how good it feels to be near you but it takes him quite a while to figure out that he actually developed a crush on you.
However, once you get closer to each other Sephiroth begins to understand that you actually mean something to him, despite the fact that he always tried to suppress his feelings because he thinks that they make him weak. At first, he doesn't like the fact that you're able to make him forget his principles to easily but he has to admit that it's a nice change nevertheless.
You spend a lot of time training together since both of you need to be in good shape all the time as SOLDIERs. Besides, Sephiroth wants to make sure that you're able to defend yourself, no matter the circumstances, and he even offers to show you some of his special techniques if you'd like to learn them. There's also a possibility that Shinra will assign you to the same missions because you're a good team, not only on a personal level but also when it comes to your fighting styles.
Sephiroth cherishes every moment he can spend with you, no matter if it's at home or at work. There's just something about your presence that makes him feel like a different person, and even though he might not be the most affectionate guy on earth but he makes sure that you know how much you mean to him nevertheless.

Ya know, anytime the ocassionaly yandere zack and possessive sephiroh are having their fight I can just perfectly picture Genesis sitting in the background, eating popcorn and having the time of his life while watching them
Genesis would be right there chanting ‘fight!’ and living for every minute of it. If not fully for the death battle, then definitely for the whole ‘Cloud just standing there looking baffled at two people he definitely saw die fighting over him while looking like he wants to die’ thing.

How Angeal and Sephiroth met
Have you ever met someone so amazingly kind and sweet that even wild birds will trust them? Have you felt someone radiate this amazing energy that inspires you to try and be a better person? If you have, then you have a clue about what kind of person I HC Angeal to be. Whether it’s people or animals, every living soul in his presence can feel his kindness.
He really is like an angel. His presence is like a safe haven to those escaping a cruel world. He stands tall, like a tower that won’t crumble. He is strong and good-natured at the same time.
…
Sephiroth never had many people he could count on. From his childhood, Professor Gast was the closest thing to a kind, trustworthy person he had. After Gast’s death he didn’t get to know anyone who was truly kind to him,- until he met Angeal.
Before his rise to fame, younger Sephiroth went on assigments accompanied with regular Shinra troops who were informed that there was a new kind of super soldier in testing amongst them. Many of them wouldn’t look past Sephiroth’s mostrous ability to slice up countless enemies in seconds, and his strange appearance. They would question if Sephiroth was really human at all. Everyone avoided talking to him, as if they were scared for their lives. They could not understand what they saw, and tried their best to not provoke this “unnatural abomination” to hurting them. Sephiroth felt isolated, but kept a neutral face as he continued to perform excellently on the assignment he was on.
Once, a couple of younger rascals among the infantrymen attacked Sephiroth out of their prejudice and disgust of him. Well, Seph lifted one up in the air, swung him against the other and both got some broken bones. Next, panic and chaos ensued… Guns were pointed at Sephiroth, everyone was panicking. Nobody was even thinking of reasoning with Sephiroth like you would reason with another person, - they saw a monster they couldn’t read or understand, a monster that had apparently now broken loose and began “attacking” the troops. The troops would argue amongst themselves whether to shoot him or not, - some argued that whoever shot Sephiroth, would get shot by Shinra. Everyone acted like Sephiroth, who merely just defended himself, would suddenly burst and kill everyone. That’s how everyone looked at him, with fear and paranoia.
Young Sephiroth, who wasn’t great with words let alone explaining himself, was frozen put. He didn’t know how would he start talking or if he could even move a muscle without someone firing his weapon at him.
“There’s been a misunderstanding”, said one brave voice that stepped between Sephiroth and everyone else. This was Angeal, - currently serving as a regular Shinra troop himself. He held a secret himself, - which was that he too was “unnaturally” powerful. He gave Sephiroth a compassionate look.
“I saw what happened. These two have been pestering Sephiroth all day, and now they attacked him. This lad here just defended himself”, Angeal explained out loud, and added: “Is that correct?”
Sephiroth quietly nodded, barely getting the words out of his mouth. “Yes, that’s correct”, he said in an awkward raspy voice, his mouth dry from expecting the worst. His face and widened blank stare didn’t fully display the turmoil he had inside, how his heart beat and how his stomach turned. But now he felt relief.
The Shinra troops lowered their weapons, and the a few ones even apologized.
After a long silence, Sephiroth took a long look at Angeal, as if he had just become aware of the presence of a really unusual, extraordinary person. It definitely made him curious that someone wasn’t fearful of him, and would defend him when everyone else was arguing about whether to shoot him or not.
“Name’s Angeal, Angeal Hewley”, the dark-haired boy introduced himself and offered his hand for a handshake. Sephiroth stared, in curiosity and scepticism alike, but eventually shook his hand. Angeal’s handshake was firm and warm, - completely fearless of Sephiroth.
“And you are..? I bet ‘Type S Soldier’ isn’t your name.”
“Sephiroth.”
“Just Sephiroth?”
“Yeah.”
Long silence was long, as Sephiroth wasn’t used to people wanting to hold conversations with him. He was used to avoiding most non-mandatory social interaction himself. He assumed Angeal would soon slip away too, and bothering the boy who just helped him seemed unthinkable. Angeal started to wonder if Sephiroth desired to be left alone, and began feeling uncomfortable himself.
“Well, ‘Just Sephiroh’. I’m sorry if you’d rather be left alone. But I’d gladly talk about what just happened, if you want to some time”, Angeal finally said with a grin, having to pinch a lot of brain power together to read Sephiroth’s minimal facial expressions. “There are still ten minutes left of the lunch break, so, uh… I guess I’ll–”
“Wait”, Sephiroth surprised himself by saying that. And the next second he cursed himself for his lack of conversational skills in the aftermath of almost getting shot by dozens of troops he supposedly worked with. The words got stuck in his mouth as expected.
“Yea?”
“I… Nevermind. I need to return to doing my thing.” He hated saying that because he sensed an oppoturnity to mend his pain in the presence of Angeal, - but oh how closed-off he was towards such oppoturnities after a lifetime of repressing his pain and walking through terrible events with that bottomless, hollow gnawing of his guts he felt. Carrying that feeling alone was just a fact of life for Sephiroth, and seeking solace was weakness, - like a wounded animal inviting buzzards to feast on its guts. Unacceptable.
Angeal was a good reader of people, and he could put together that Sephiroth was most likely socially awkward, and not used to expressing any kind of wants or needs to other people. He felt a bit sad about the idea of just letting Sephiroth leave.
“Thank you, Angeal.”
And the silver-haired boy was gone, much faster than Angeal could say a thing. He was left curious, and would continue to make excuses to be in Sephiroth’s presence. Little by little, Sephiroth became comfortable holding and initiation conversations with Angeal, and his trust of him grew. He learned that Angeal too possessed “unnatural” strength, - and the two agreed that they were proud to use their strength for serving their society. Angeal came from a different home and background, but he let Sephiroth see that being really strong didn’t mean being less than human, as Angeal himself was friends with many of his fellow troops, and would also be friends with Sephiroth.

He stuck a post-it note on the other's desk with the words IMPORTANT underlined at the top. It read: I just saw a donkey fall into a bowl of sugar. If Sephiroh were to flip it, the note continued: Now that's a sweet ass!
He’d seen the post-it note. He hadn’t read it, initially, because he’d recognized the handwriting. Out of sight, out of mind, finishing up a few incredibly dull tasks on his incredibly dull computer workstation first.
Work complete, computer unceremoniously shut down, only then did he reach for the note. Drawing in a deep breath, he turned it over--
Sephiroth had no sense of what anyone remotely near his office door might have thought of the groan coming from within, but he hardly cared. It took a moment or two to recover from before he was sure to text Zack a quick but sincere, “Thank you.”
