Greek God Ares gets an introduction to World of the Coinless through Skull--or one of the other baby Oranges. I mean, if Santa, Loki, and Thor get a go, why not a more...sympathetic immortal.

Santa Thor Loki and arguably Neptune lol. And it’s always super hilarious to me how chill everyone is at the concept of the gods and Santa being real aside from star struck hero worship lol like oh yea the gods are real! Santa’s an actual person! This is a normal Tuesday! It’s amazing to me. I’d love to see them be introduced at the beginning of a series just to see if it’s acclimation to weird that lets the rangers and associates roll with this or if they’re just Like That before rangerdom

Fic Summary:

many things can incite change from one reality to another. Some can have one change that results in tragedy centuries later. In one world, in one time, Ares is never found in the jar, and never rescued. The concept of war and bloodlust goes wild without one of its key gods to help regulate it. Resulting in one boy centuries after Ares’ imprisonment turning left when he should have gone right. Ignoring mercy when he otherwise would have sought it out and clung to it. Fifteen years after all that, an exhausted spy finds an ancient clay jar stoppered up in an old junk heap. Deft fingers pry the cork loose, and finally finally, Ares is free again. A bit maddened, a bit feral, but very willing to do his best to help. It’s not his fault, but this landscape is where he thrives best. So, with Skull, Ares enters the sentries and decides to get to work. Waging war from within and confronting the boy now man who is far too similar for his liking. Tact may not be Ares usual mode, but subterfuge keeps him close to the fascinating little sentry and his partner, and Ares is loathe to let anything happen to them. Plus; a wolf in sheep’s clothing is quite viscous when it’s able to infiltrate the flock.

Fic Excerpt:

Eugene looked from the empty bottle in his hand to the gaunt practically skeleton with skin and hair that had shot out of it with a scream and back to the bottle in his hand. The skeletal naked man moaned as he stroked the ground beneath him lovingly. It was…bizarre and uncomfortable. He was also muttering in a language Eugene wasn’t sure he recognized.

“Are you a genie?” He asked. It was all he could think to ask. The man looked up, then staggered to his feet with a despondent mutter. His voice, cracked and rough, lilted into a question sound. Eugene shook his head. “Man I only know English, ESL, and rudimentary Spanish from high school and even that I barely passed-mph!” The man had seemingly given up with niceties and suddenly there was a tongue in Eugene’s mouth and hands keeping his head still. He dropped the jar, slapping at the man’s arms but it was like hitting iron bars. Eventually he was let go, falling onto his ass as the man wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. “Apologies” said the not very apologetic sounding man. “There was no time to learn your language the traditional way. I had to borrow a page from Aphrodite.”

“Some kiss.” Eugene said numbly, touching his lips. The man laughed. “I’m Ares” he said, crouching beside Eugene. “A god of war, and harvest. And I owe you a great debt for letting me out of that jar.”

“A god.” Eugene’s head was spinning. “And here I was half expecting a genie.”

Summary: some liked to sleep, he liked to play. The hallways of the castle, in the middle of the night, echoed with the sounds of his tunes.

And unknown to him, the ghosts danced~

The ghosts danced to the tunes of his grand piano, making merry in times when no living could bring themselves to smile.

The ghosts of all those who had lost their lives to Lord Drakkon and his tyranny, all of those tortured, destroyed souls who had finally found peace in their deaths. They liked seeing that at least someone in the entire palace could do something he liked, even if it was in the dead silence of midnight. Even if the little man couldn’t see them all, they knew he felt it.

There was always this one little ghost who never seemed to enjoy the music, though. The little boy who was barely sixteen when he was murdered by the tyrant— blonde hair, wobbly spectacles. Instead of dancing, instead of laughing, he would quietly go and sit next to the Red Sentry on the piano stool while he played the songs, listening quietly, not quite saying anything, almost as if there was so much he wanted to say, but stopping himself knowing his words would never reach the pianist.

-1) a Sherlock Hound Anime, Moriarty/Smiley in reference to the crossdressing episode:

The heels of the Italian leather shoes giving Smiley some lift so his ass was perfectly level with the Professor's pelvis as the criminal mastermind took pity on his henchman and helped undo the back of the dress, followed by his fingers carefully unlatching the herringbone clasps and then the stays of the corset.

-2) post-Bulk leaving on Terra Venture Billy/Skull:

"I needed the money to pay for my rent and next meal. After Bulk left on Terra Venture, I don't...all of our money was in a shared account on the ship. We didn't think there was a need to leave anything behind."

-3) for the Power Rangers Prime piece that's my personal middle finger to, well, certain annoyances:

"I don't care. You still need to bathe and get rubble out of your hair while I wash your stained clothes and I get you something less obvious to walk around in. I am feeding you."

-4) another Putty! Matt AU, but DARKER, and with more manipulations:

It was a small wonder he made it a week before he couldn't help but just curl up in a ball as far as he could with Matt's arms still wrapped around him.

-5) What If Skull HAD gone with Zelya to Eltar:

Don't try to say anything pithy or cute when he brings up having placed a missing person's report, which meant visiting coma patients and the morgue when necessary. Even complimenting his devotion is not a good idea, because this was traumatic and he's still not sure how to handle it.

-6) Alternative to Jason wandering off at the end of Drakkon New Dawn, because NOPE:

Jason took in a stuttering breath, arms crossing as his head leaned into Bulk's chest with the man's beard brushing into Jason's black-grey hair as he turned and paced around the palace loft with Jason in his arms. As if the literal middle-aged man was no more or less than one of the many children he'd fostered through the war.

Idea about World of the Coinless I have nowhere to put, so it's going here:

Location: the moon prison. Focusing in on shot of Coinless Jason being thrown into a cell that's glass, but Drakkon had his sentries remove his helmet and heavy duty hand guards so he still can't get out as the glass is bulletproof.

Jason is pissed off and confused and baring his teeth at the other prisoners plucked out of time and space that can't recognize him.

And directly across from him in also a glass prison, but it's almost completely filled with water, only a small space above to take a breath.

Which includes what appears to be a red sentry floating in the center, eyes open and hair fishing with the barest of movements they can manage.

This is confusing to Jason for a lot of reasons, not least of all given that even after decades, he can still recognize Skull.

Who would look like a corpse in a shell if not for the thin line of blood floating upwards and the slow blinks he occasionally made.

Sentry Skull (in his boxers, cooking breakfast, completely unperturbed): Okay. Dare I ask why?

Sentry Adam: Because the Prime Rangers are visiting next week on Kim's request and I don't want them to try and fuck you like everyone else here.

Sentry Skull: Wouldn't looking like Kate Bush make me...more fuckable?

Sentry Adam: Yes, but in a way that they'd be too scared to make a move over. It would have to be safer than letting you wear jeans and leather or your uniform, at least.

Sentry Adam: Oh, absolutely.
