AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

A quick little thing for my beloved @lewis-winters, I hope this brings you a bit of comfort!

Perched on the back of a shitty motel bathtub in his boxer shorts, Arthur counted the knobs of Natalie’s spine down to the waterline.

Her hair was already wet, and now it was his job to lather up his hands and wash it for her. It was a tradition that had started early in their roadtrip; Natalie would run herself a bath and after a while Arthur would drift into the bathroom to sit with her. Then, as the water cooled, he would offer to wash her hair. She never said no.

"Want me to braid it for you tonight?" He offered, starting to work the soap into her scalp.

Immediately, he saw her shoulders loosen as she sighed, some of the tension that seemed permanently locked there releasing. This was Natalie at her most relaxed, her most unguarded. Arthur knew how much of a privilege that was to be allowed to witness.

"That'd be nice," Natalie hummed.

"Crazy that it's long enough to go in a braid now," Arthur said.

When they had started her hair had only just started to grow out. Now it brushed her shoulders and trailed against her back in a long, golden, wave.

"Only a little one," Natalie countered, but she was smiling slightly, eyes closed as Arthur tilted her head back to really work the soap in.

It had been a long few days of doing nothing but driving and sleeping huddled in the Jeep, and Arthur had enjoyed washing the grease from his own hair in the shower before this as well. The last few years had inured them pretty well to getting and staying dirty, but that didn't mean the ritual of getting clean again was any less welcome. Nothing felt better to Arthur than scrubbing himself until it felt like he'd reached a new layer of skin. He knew Natalie got a similar feeling out of it too.

"A pretty braid," he insisted. He worked out any tangles between his fingers. "Alright, lean forward, I'm gonna rinse it off for ya."

She bent herself over her knees, flipping her hair forward over her face. Using his hands as a cup, Arthur sluiced bathwater over her hair until it ran clear, then smoothed a hand through the length of it to make sure all the suds had been washed away. Natalie hummed happily, still curled forward, and Arthur ran his hand through her hair a few more times for good measure.

"There you go, all done."

Humming in thanks this time, Natalie slowly sat up straight, stretching her arms out in front of her until something in her back popped. Then she reached back and squeezed the excess water from her hair, wringing it out like a towel before laying it in one short coil over her shoulder. 

Arthur stood, but didn’t leave. There was something almost hesitant in Natalie’s expression now, and she was keeping her eyes fixed on the taps in front of her, like she was gearing up for something. He waited.

“Get in with me?” Natalie asked softly.

The tension hadn’t quite returned to her, but it was threatening to, and Arthur once again looked at the shift of bone beneath her skin. He had never thought of her as fragile before, but there had always been a kind of delicacy to how she held herself when she was vulnerable. A wariness. It was there every time she held out a hand to let him in. Even after three years he was still nervous about grabbing it too fast and spooking her, or spurning the chance by accident.

That being said, it was late, and the water wasn’t at its most inviting.

“The water’s gotta be gettin’ cold, Natty. You wouldn’t rather be in bed?” Arthur asked. Natalie didn’t look up, just flexed her fingers against her knees. He felt himself fold to her, and swept down to press a kiss to her cheek. “Okay, scoot up. We’ll run the hot tap again.”

After shimmying out of his boxers and tossing them aside, he stepped into the tub and gently lowered himself down behind Natalie. It was a squeeze, but they made it work in a tangle of legs and tossed arms. Natalie slid down so her head could rest on his shoulder, even as it pushed her knees up against the sides of the tub to keep her feet in. The water was cold, he had been right, but the body contact and the slow stream from the hot tap made it bearable. Natalie sighed again, that great big breath of relief. Arthur wrapped an arm around her middle to squeeze her to him.

“This better?” He asked.

“Mhm.”

“You doing good?”

“Mhm.”

“Want me to shut up?”

There wasn’t a response, and Arthur laughed, the weight of Natalie against his bare chest making the vibrations of it odd. How does Jay view relationships in a romantic sense?

Well first he sees relationships as something that requires commitment no other way around. His powerful taurus stellium/cancer ruling 7th house shows he looks for long term commitment rather than anything else. He’s the type of guy who only dates if he sees a future with someone, like I’m talking marriage. He’s a serious guy who doesn’t want to play games; actually I think that kind of behavior turns him off a lot from the start where he wouldn’t even want to invest in that nonsense.

I find this utterly ridiculous. I don’t understand all that nonsense about “dark arts are horrible.” So many things in the lore require dark arts, many solutions come from dark arts, and, in general, dark arts are necessary in that society. Sure, maybe in the context of the ’70s generation, dark arts were seen as a red flag, but Lily literally downplays the bullying Severus suffered just because “at least the Marauders don’t use dark arts.” Like, what kind of argument is that? Does abuse hurt less depending on the weapon used? Is it less of an issue if I shoot you rather than stab you? Honestly…

Look, no one should have to change who they are or what they like to be loved—that’s utter nonsense. You don’t have to change for anyone; love doesn’t work like that. Obviously, there are limits—if you’re an alcoholic, for example, then yes, it’d be good to go to rehab. I’m not talking about extremes like that. But when it comes to personality, no one can demand that you change. No one has the right to tell you how you should be or think and then reproach you by saying, “if you don’t change, it means you don’t love me enough.” That’s trash—it’s control, it’s trying to mold someone into your image, and that’s not how it works. Either you like someone for who they are, or you don’t. But this “oh, if only they were this way, maybe…” Well, then you don’t like that person; you like a completely different type of person—and that’s fine, but let’s not make excuses.

He liked them before he got involved with future Death Eaters, he liked them when he allied with Voldemort, and—most importantly—he still liked them after leaving Voldemort. It’s part of his personality and identity, regardless of his life stage or what side he’s on. A Severus who didn’t like dark arts wouldn’t be Severus; he’d be someone else entirely.

The issue with how love is often perceived stems from this toxic, traditional ideal of romantic love that we’ve been conditioned to accept. It establishes patterns of behavior that involve losing or giving up our individuality for the sake of our partner, and that’s not how it works. If Lily didn’t like the dark arts, then she and Severus were never going to have a future. He can’t demand or expect her to tolerate something she despises, and she equally doesn’t have the right to expect him to give up something that’s important to him. Similarly, Severus didn’t need to stop being himself to win over Lily—he needed to find someone who didn’t care about his interests or who was compatible with them.

Love isn’t about giving things up; it’s about finding someone who is compatible with what you bring to the table—whether because they have no issue with it, share those interests, or have their own qualities that balance yours. That’s it.

Oh look another unhinged wonder boy Stan who thinks every scene with Bakugo and Deku has to deal with romance. Once again I’m not revealing who this person is to protect their identity but you’ll most likely find them on Twitter if you search hard enough. Three things in particular that proves that they don’t care about what’s happening in the story or if it even makes sense. The only thing that’s important to the eyes of these people is whether the Green Jesus and the Creator’s pet will bang or not.

This person tries to claim that after their second fight, Bakugo was being over protective to Deku as in the way he acts and treats him moving forward is another sign of love. Yeah because him throwing his sharp head piece into Deku head causing him to bleed is a sign of protection and love. Deku in that scene wasn’t even talking about his improvements with Blackwhip out in the open, he said that all in his head. The only I can think of as to B***h boy doesn’t like to see Deku be happy about anything. How romantic.

There was also that one scene in the Endeavor Agency arc where Deku was explaining his quirk and how he wants to improve to Endeavor and Bakugo gets triggered. People like to make the argument that Deku was telling him way too much information about OFA, but does it really matter? Endeavor surprisingly understood what Deku meant and didn’t reveal anything that would get him caught.

I know that Deku almost revealed OFA out in the open(USJ Arc), but that clearly on accident and was in fear for All Might’s condition. And after that he clearly understood how important it was to keep the secret hidden, until the neighbor’s Pomeranian decided to step in and make things insufferable.

So basically Deku was actually being the smart one with these situations and Bakugo was just full of s**t.

And even after he EXPRESSES his emotions after losing in technicality to Deku in the battle trials and throwing a child like tantrum all because he wasn’t picked to be All Might’s successor, it doesn’t really matter cause the story finds a way to reward him and guilt trip Deku for no reason.

I don't think he could in either scenario. He cares for you and loves you a lot. If he lost you somehow he may have a mental breakdown.

just thinking about astarion is SUCH a sweet partner? like this man was barely an adult elf when he was turned, and spent the next 200 years being abused by cazador, but like

- as the durge character, he'll be accepting and talk about your mental health and reassure you

- he'll insist on staying with your half illithid character, saying you shouldnt make his choices for him if you try to leave to protect him

- also just the dichotomy of him being explicitly vain and also explicitly not shallow is very sweet

- in that one lathanders light scene, he'll tell you he appreciates you trying to fix your mistake after you caused him IMMENSE pain

- he'll empathize with and support you if you swear your body to haarlep, noting how he's been through similar and is sorry you're going through it

- hes not jealous, his issues with sharing seem to largely come from if he thinks the other party would be okay with it (like he thinks lae'zel would spear him lol), and when someone like halsin comes along he'll happily consent

- on that note, he grows enough to be comfortable asking for support and reassurance instead of possessiveness/jealousy (not that these are the only options for that scenario, but astarions seen a lot of possessiveness in his life and its wonderful how much he avoids replicating it)

- he will always attack cazador in the final confrontation if cazador starts verbally abusing you instead of him

- he puts in the work to set boundaries that allow him to engage in an intimate (emotionally, physically, but not sexually) romantic relationship with tav and apologizes for "using" him before, when his behavior was SO understandable. and also he manipulated tav by having... consensual enjoyable sex lol. he might have ulterior motives but he never actually tries to use his sexual relationship with tav to manipulate him into doing anything

- you learn how astarion felt for Sebastian and how tender he was

- you learn about the first boy astarion couldnt bear to bring to cazador, the one he called soft and sweet (or something like that) and then was punished horribly for a straight year for it

- even when you turn to a half illithid, his main concern is you losing your agency

- if you are a full illithid, at the end of the game, some people complain about him not being ride or die, but i think he shows REMARKABLE willingness and support. what he cares about most is that you are still you, and how is he supposed to know for sure? i think asking him to stay with a type of being known for manipulation and mind control after everything he went through with cazador IS A HUGE FUCKING ASK. and he doesnt even write you off immediately? thats a lot of love right there

- if you arent illithid, he will double-check you want to plan a future with him still, and only once you affirm this will he express how badly he wants it. he's actively avoiding trying to manipulate you even

and probably more stuff im just not thinking of off the top of my head. obviously this is about the spawn route vs. ascended, but im just constantly amazed that despite EVERYTHING astarion has gone through, probably centuries without a healthy, loving relationship or even examples of that nearby, he still defaults to being kind, empathetic, and caring as soon as he gets the chance

like sure, he might be minorly evil and self-serving but personally i think thats the least he deserves

more importantly, the boys from astarions past give us a rare window into what he was like before turning into a vampire—he was gentle, empathetic lover. he was kind, he was protective. and as soon as he has the space to start looking for himself again, he goes RIGHT back to that behavior. he even self-checks for his "manipulation" and tries to correct for it

it just shatters my heart and then puts it back together hes such a wonderfully written character. astarion is allowed to be lovely AND furious and vengeful and maybe its just my raised-catholic ass, but its SO cathartic to see that a forgiveness arc is never pushed for his abuser

so so I finally found words for it but there is no way Annie as a character is meant to be with Jeff,,, and yes this does come from a place of hate for anything even remotely related to JeffAnnie but it's also more than that and totally based on their behavior towards each other throughout the seasons but I just found the perfect moment that incapsulates it

and that is in 4x13 Advanced Intro to Finality wherein Jeff is ready to graduate and there's sorta paintball with the darkest timeline and all that (which just saying is such a cool fucking setup but this is not the post where I talk about it) and both the Annie's (from the normal and darkest timeline) are facing off against each other,,, what the evil Annie tries to persuade the normal Annie with is the fact that they (jeff and her) are sleeping together in this alternate future and normal Annie literally responds with, and I quote, "No-one is supposed to sleep with him. Not even me." let that sink in

Now does this seem like somebody who has a serious romantic crush/is in love with the guy? What it seems like to me is a case of admiration (as a person and a human being) which is further warped into her assuming it's love because that's what we're supposed to do and told to do by society... What is more she obviously views Britta as a woman who (might not be the smartest and I will always hate on how the show ruined her character) but is still recognised and acknowledged as a woman,, something that Annie feels alienated from since most people look at her and tend to infantilize her (which is also a part in her dynamic with Jeff which is just,, n o),,, so a lot of the tines she tends to look at britta's choice of partners to turn to, to fall in love with (obv this is something that I derived from the 6 seasons laid out before me but this is my opinion and yeah)

and yeah the question then becomes why didn't she do the same with Shirley,,, number 1. Shirley is obviously in a different place in her life with her husband and kids,,, number 2. Shirley and her also have quite a big age gap which is again only widened by number 1,,, and number 3, if you notice properly there are episodes wherein you can see her try to emulate Shirley,,, the easiest and most off the top of my head example being the one where they are the campus security together which does end with her professing that she wants to be a grown powerful woman like her.

Now, if we talk about her other main crush, talking about Troy here throughout the first few seasons,,, it's again based a lot on her admiration for him for being popular and again THAT'S WHAT YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO DO AND WANT TO BE especially when you're literally at the sidelines of the high school hierarchy so much so that you would busy your ass to score good and do good but still never be known by anyone or acknowledged for anything you do,,, and she technically knew nothing about him which at most i can grant her being infatuated w him and yeah

and most of her attraction to anyone feels very surface level,, in the this-is-what-i've-seen-people-do-so-this-is-what-i-need-to-do-as-well,, instead of being properly attracted in a,,, i want to be romantically with you sense,,, she's essentially creating a fairytale of her life and idealising it and all the models she has for them are heterosexually inclined,, so this is the kind of behavior she ends up adopting and emulating,,

so a large part of Annie's behavior I do chalk up to heterosexual compulsivity (or comphet) because there are moments throughout wherein she shows more admiration and love for women than men in a i-want-to-be-with-you kind of way (and it would be really interesting to look at her struggle as a difficulty to differentiate btw I want to be her,,, and I want to be with her)

a large part of her character is also so interesting to me because of the fact that it feels like she gets away from the writers quite a bit,,, because a lot of the instances you can see how the writers want her to be perceived vs how she ends up being perceived by us (but that's true for most things related to media concerning the expected reception vs the actual reception)

i didn't know this was going to end up being a lesbian or at least queer Annie post either,, but apparently that's my truth and I stand by it

(also I do acknowledge the fact that the part of all this (the part about her being queer) can be chalked up to my own desires and biases and a little bit of projection but regardless,,, in any case, JeffAnnie is still weird and bad and doesn't really fit for their characters regardless (technically for both of theirs but this too long already) and I'm a firm believer of that (anti JeffAnnie till the day I die fr)

Taichi and Takeru's relationship is primarily based on a very basic premise in Adventure: You have the hands-on protagonist who has a huge soft spot for taking care of kids that are younger than him, as he is a big brother himself - and you have the youngest member of the group, who wants nothing more than to be an equal part of the team and while his own brother usually acts somewhat overly protective of him, the protagonist treats him with trust and a positive attitude. Whether it's about encouraging him to get up after falling down, warning him of harmful food - or entrusting him to take care of his own sister, offering him the chance to take responsibility "like the older kids do" (and thus he proooobably caused a protective complex in the long run, but I'm quite certain that was fueled by Yamato's behavior towards him as well).

Is it a surprise that Takeru looks up to, admires and idolizes Taichi, even to a point where he wishes he could be his big brother instead of Yamato? Probably not. While the relationship between Yamato and Takeru is not always the easiest (and even though Yamato tended to see Taichi as a serious threat of being a better brother than him), Taichi always tries to mediate, reassuring Takeru that Yamato would never leave him behind on purpose. He ALWAYS treats Takeru with kindness.

Inspite of all that: Is it a shame that, after Adventure ends, the relationship between Taichi and Takeru gets shoved into a teeny tiny niche in the background? Very much so. We don't see them interact on their own terms - or even talk to other - a lot, neither in 02 nor Tri nor Kizuna onwards, as both of them have very different interaction partners throughout all these years. The France episode is the only significant instance that shows them still being on friendly terms - as Takeru was previously very busy trying to encourage Hikari not to rely so much on Taichi anymore, very obviously projecting onto her in the process, as he is basically dreading to rely on either Yamato or Taichi for help himself. On the other hand... The France episode also shows Takeru to be quite in sync with Taichi, he's actually displaying several mannerisms and reactions in the same way - which does leave room to speculate on the idea that the admiration he used to have for Taichi never truly vanished... And that, in Tri onwards, he absolutely adapted to Taichi's way of teasing and trolling Yamato, basically perfecting the art of doing that.

Long story short - there is quite a bit of subtext, at least on Takeru's behalf. It's a little bit like - and this is where all the speculation comes in - Takeru, our future novelist, always kinda observed Taichi from the shadows, which is not unlikely, as Takeru spends A LOT of time with Hikari, Koushirou and Yamato... All people who also share significant bonds with Taichi themselves. And thus, him having quite a steadfast opinion on Taichi ("That's not like him at all!") and making him the heroic main character of his Evangelion fanfiction... Definitely gives you the impression that he never stopped looking up to him. Unfortunately, Taichi's current stance on Takeru is a bit harder to estimate, but I think we have some groundwork here.

Whether I think why and how they’d work.

The most obvious trope I can see working for them is: Takeru's brotherly admiration for Taichi growing to have a romantic twist as he grows older. It's very easy to imagine that he started crushing on him at some point, but kept it rather low-key throughout all this time - hence him just observing him from afar. And even that makes perfect sense - Taikeru used to have quite a niche in tumblr's and also Twitter's English-speaking spheres - and I can't really blame people for that: Taichi is usually primarily shipped with Takeru's brother, whereas Takeru is primarily shipped with Taichi's sister... That set-up alone is intriguing enough to write a whole essay on the similar dynamics between the sibling relationships - and then you have the whole potential subtext that goes as follows: For example, Takeru is struggling with black-and-white thinking as a young teenager and may or may not feel like he has to conform to heteronormativity because of that - hence why he may be so angry at Hikari for relying on Taichi instead of himself? Angry at Hikari for being as dependent as he used to be, angry at Hikari because he himself has these weird feelings for Taichi, even though he should like Hikari instead? And he DOES, but not in that way. And then there's his brother, who OBVIOUSLY has feelings for Taichi as well, so he could never get in between that, jeopardizing a potential happy relationship for Yamato, which would result in a much better outcome for all them...

In general, I can see Takeru sacrificing his own happiness for the sake of the people he loves as long as THEY are happy, because that, in return, should be enough to make HIM happy as well... Right? It's also one of the many reasons why I believe he encourages Iori so much, tries to protect Hikari and grows closer to Koushirou... Because he feels Iori and Hikari can do a lot better when he's just there for them and Koushirou is great company to be around with, who he just vibes with, while he can (hope to) watch Taichi's and Yamato's relationship bloom. He grows up to be more accepting of his own preferences and orientation (and it may look to others like he's just dating people left and right, even though he is literally just spending time with them because he enjoys positive company - at least in MY opinion).

Alright, that was a lot of blabbering for a rather unfulfilled, one-sided crush... So what if they DO find a way to be together? I feel like Taichi would still struggle a little bit with it himself as well - again, Takeru is super close to Hikari AND Yamato's brother, so getting close to him may feel like he'd have to ask for permission... Not to mention that there are instances where Takeru reminds him of Yamato, hence there still being a looooot of conflicting feelings (especially the idea I saw in fandom once, where Taichi had to convince Takeru that "I like you because you're you, not because you remind me of Yamato!" and I think that would apply wonderfully the other way round as well: "I like you because you're you, not because you're a male version of Hikari!"). But once we've overcome all that trauma and complex complications ... I believe they could be a good match. They're both incredibly protective of others - and would be of each other as well. They also need someone to lean and allow themselves to rely on - which both of them struggle with, so there'd be a lot of talking required to let loose and be vulnerable around each other.

But I also feel like their relationship could get Taichi to become more social and outgoing again, spending more time with everyone and becoming more of his shiny self in the process again. And if Taichi managed to make himself be vulnerable around Takeru - I feel like Takeru would be the happiest bean. Realizing that he can be supportive of and needed by that, in his eyes, amazing person who always supported him in return as well. When I think about them, I think about sunshine fighting through a big wall of clouds - and about them teasing Yamato to hell and back, but that is just a very self-indulgent headcanon.

Whether I’d prefer them as platonic or romantic ship.

I do have a small soft spot for them and think they're underrated, which is unfortunately made very apparent by the lack of interaction time between them... Overall, from a writing perspective, I adore the complexity I see between them, as outlined above! So observing them through a romantic lense is incredibly interesting - but overall, I'd like them to be platonic 70% of the time, as opposed to being romantic 30%. It can be a very good ship, I just haven't dug deep enough yet!

Miguel O' Hara - AU Scientist (Across the Spider-Verse) - Chapter 2

You’d walked in the next morning a bit distracted.

“Wait a minute, is he my boyfriend?”

He said he wanted to date you, but you both haven’t actually gone on a date, so technically were you together.

“MIGUEL ARE WE GIRLFRIEND AND BOYFRIEND!!”

Shouting that in the lab the minute you stepped in probably wasn’t the best option. All eyes were on you and Miguel shrunk back under the attention. You grimace, sending him an apologetic look.

Lyla just stood at the back with the widest grin on her face.

“Sorry about that, sometimes I can get a bit in my head.”

“It’s alright. I probably should have made a better effort of explaining what we were.” You were both now alone in the lab, writing up reports from your last activity.

Miguel could see the happy smile on your face as you stayed on task.

“I’ve had feelings for you since we met.”

That caught your attention. The pen slowly lowered from your fingers, and he briefly contemplated taking the words back. His eyes quickly darted in the opposite direction.

“I’m not sure if you know this, but I’m on the spectrum.”

There’s a somber tone that follows the confession.

“I don’t think, internalize or express my feelings the same way. Although my disability is somewhat mild compared to others, it’s a part of who I am. Over the years I’ve been able to slowly push myself past the more rooted parts of my life. But sometimes this can be debilitating and that could affect my partner. It has affected most relationships in my life. Romantic and or otherwise.”

It’s clear that you need to make your own confession.

“I figured that out a few days after we met.”

His dark eyes hold a level of shock. You just rub your arm.

“Most of the people in this place hold degrees in the application of science in the world. I have multiple degrees and not all of them are applied in this field. Before I came here I worked with the FBI in behavioral science and forensics.”

His eyes light up in interest.

“You were a profiler?”

“I was. That’s why I understand what you go through. Most behaviors are easily explained by science. The way our brains function, process information. All of it is connected. I didn’t really think it was my place to confront you. Getting to this point given what you deal with must not have been easy. I think it’s incredible how much you’ve accomplished. I guess that’s..what I really fell in love with.”

He’s relieved, but also a bit frightened now.

“So you understand that certain physical aspects are..harder for me..”

His hand is on the table, and you nod.

“I understand. Miguel I don’t expect anything from you. It’s nothing to be ashamed of. You’re you, I’d never force you into anything. We can discover what we are in the future. Now that we both know how we feel, we have time to figure it all out. “

You don’t reach for his hand, and he can’t help but cast his memory back to all those times that you’d inadvertently accommodated him. He couldn’t believe that he hadn’t realized it before. Even now, your hand is so close to his on the table, but you don’t initiate any contact. His eyes are laser focused, then they move to your brilliant eyes. He leans closer and he can see the uncertainty in your eyes.

“Miguel you really don’t have to-”

“I want to.”

His eyes are firmly planted on your lips. You swallow, because this is moving a lot quicker than you expected. You had literally prepared yourself to wait a few months just to hold his hand. Now that it’s happening, you’re a bit unprepared. Miguel slides out of his seat, and when he stands, he’s towering you. His gaze brings in all kinds of feelings throughout your body.

“Can I?”

“Yes!”

That’s what your mind says, but your lips have forgotten how to function.

“I..umm..y-you..”

His brows furrow, a slight look of worry.

“Is it too much?”

You shake your head vigorously.

“N-No it’s not!” You huff, trying to calm yourself down.

“I-I’m sorry. I guess I just convinced myself that I’d be waiting for you. Now that it’s happening I’m a little nervous. “

Relief crosses his face.

“You’re nervous too?”

“I am. You always make me act so crazy.”

You laugh softly and Miguel smiles. He takes a step, and you refocus your gaze up. His hand reaches out slowly, and you anticipate it eagerly. His palm cups your cheek. You nearly melt at how warm his hand feels. How much you’ve craved to be touched like this. Touched by him. A soft breath leaves your lips, and Miguel’s approach is slow. You can tell that he needs a moment to prepare himself for the sensation that will follow. It all drags by so painfully slow. The minute his lips touch your own, you feel your stomach do frantic flips. Your brows knit, because it’s as soft as you anticipate. You can’t help it, you moan, and Miguel pulls back.

Your eyes snap open, and you instinctively create space.

“I-I’m sorry!”

Miguel licks his lips. You expect panic, but what you see is the complete opposite.

“A-Are you okay?”

“Asombrosa..”

He doesn’t say anything else.

He just moves back in and you squeak when his lips press so insistently against your own. Your heart is beating harshly against your chest. Miguel has a hand secured at your waist and the other slides easily into your hair. This time you don’t even try to cover the moan. It spills out, and Miguel swallows every sound of desperation that you release. 

He’s kissing you as if you’re the best thing he’s ever tasted and you cannot be any happier. The man who’d always avoided physical contact is holding you as if you would disappear if he even blinks. You grip at his lab coat, and it’s as if he’s encouraged. You gasp when he picks you right off the floor and your legs move around his waist unconsciously. You’re breathing heavily, Miguel isn’t much better. You both have finally stopped for a moment.

You aren’t sure what’s more impressive, how easily he holds your weight, or the fact that his hands are actually on your body. You’re a bit hesitant to let your hands move anywhere other than their current location on his shoulders. When you finally gather your breath, you blush.

“That was nice..” You say bashfully.

“It was extraordinary.”

Miguel’s eyes have gone a shade darker, and you lecture yourself to keep your composure.

You need to stay on your guard.

This adorable man might actually be the death of you.

Here’s a random Young Royals ask:

What career do you think Sara will have in the future? Or what do you think her dream job would be?

This is a great ask, and one where you might get more than you asked for. In part because I’ve thought about it a lot. I have not only a dream job in mind for Sara, but also some nightmare jobs as well. (Don’t worry, it’s all related to fanfic plots living in my head, and I promise they end in a good place.)

Is it okay if I start with Sara’s nightmare job? This one sort of popped into my head as I was envisioning what a Second Chance Romance could look like between Sara and August, maybe a decade after canon where August has done a lot of work and made various restitutions to Simon and gotten much more of his shit together.

As for that story… I thought it might be interesting, as far as like, what generates a plot and character arc, to put Sara at a job that’s taking advantage of her compassion and desire for justice. In my experience it’s pretty common for younger people to end up in situations like that in their first jobs, and I think it’d be interesting if Sara was in a place where she won’t deal with that in a romantic partner anymore, but she hasn’t learned to recognize it in a work situation yet. (This is pretty common in growing up—you tackle one issue in one part of one’s life and it sneakily migrates to another part.) So she’s working this nightmare job for an autism charity I’ve sneakily called PuzzleChildren (it’s a reference, shout if you get it!) which is trying to rehabilitate its image after news breaks that they haven’t really hired any actually autistic people. Sara’s hired by them, and they sound sincere at first so she’s trying her best to make things work with her coworkers and bosses, but over time she just kind of realizes that this place is shit and has no intention of changing. And then she moves into a line of work that’s much more fulfilling for her.

And what might that be? Well, I’m still deciding, but there’s a few career paths where I can see Sara being particularly happy:

Some sort of career in Environmental or Disability Justice. I’m not exactly sure why. It’s just vibes. I do think Sara is a person who cares deeply about people and causes, and both of those are areas where I can see her learning more at university and just finding a place that makes sense for her.

Helping people, especially other neurodivergent people, using some kind of animal therapy. Doesn’t have to be horses! Or maybe Sara will train service dogs or something. It’s possible Sara’s affinity for horses could translate over to other animals, and she could find a career path in that general direction.

Graphic novelist or picture book writer. We see Sara drawing in one scene in season 1, and for that reason, she’s always been someone who likes to draw in my head. We also know she’s a keen observer of human behavior and could have some interesting insights if she ever decided to write a story. I can see her doing memoir graphic novels with a similar tone to like, stuff by Marjane Satrapi or Maggie Thrash. Of course if the monarchy’s still around they might want to sue her for her honesty. But they shouldn’t.

What do you think? I can see lots of possibilities for Sara in the future!

Chenford's not going to break up. They're are the main couple on the show and breaking up makes no sense because their love is so strong!! You could go watch a teen drama if you want a more dramatic story, but that's not going to be Chenford!!!

anyway: ....................ok! i applaud you in thinking that. i will likely not go watch a teen drama, but thanks for the suggestion.

i mean, let's break down how it does make sense for the story, though, just so this isn't an ask where i just nod and move along.

tim and lucy got together near-immediately (for tim) and immediately (for lucy) after breaking off relationships, which by definition makes them each other's rebounds. despite the fact that they have intense, serious feelings for one another, giving literally 0 time and space between those relationships and their own can (and still could) create issues in their ability to communicate effectively and process their relationship milestones. that's not a whole ass reason to break up, but it's a very specific part of their foundation that we've never seen them address on screen and could contribute to issues in the future.

lucy lied to tim about the metro job, never actually apologized, and tim has literally brought it up as a moment of her being dishonest (5x18) despite being okay with it. lucy may have been lying for good reason, but it doesn't detract from the fact that she did lie, and since has continued to withhold information from tim. regardless of the fact that tim trusts lucy, that kind of behavior can lead to a lack of trust or even just a flicker in tim's head of doubting whether or not lucy's actually being truthful in intense moments.

tim is visibly not okay with lucy diving into uc work, despite also lying to her and telling her he's completely fine with it and will support her. this is a heavily nuanced issue and should be treated as such, so i'm not going to deep dive into it too hard, but this matters a ton. tim is not only trying to hone in his own emotions surrounding being legitimately abandoned by a past romantic partner in favor of a life she'd unintentionally built doing undercover work, he's trying to project a fully on-board 1000% supportive boyfriend who has no problem with anything happening in the uc world. it's not something he's going to be able to sustain long-term, and lucy can already see the cracks in his facade.

tim and lucy don't communicate in the same way now that they're together romantically. that is not to say they don't communicate – they do, and when they actually talk they're good at it, but they've both been placating each other with the commutation in the final s5 episodes. tim has repeated and repeated he's ok with lucy doing uc work long-term because having the conversation about him not being could be difficult. lucy hasn't pushed on his answer because having that conversation could be hard. it's easier for them not to talk about it when it's kind of irrelevant right now, and at the same time – it's easier for them not to talk about it when he could hold her and they could simply invest in physical comfort. that's dangerous in a relationship that has foundational issues like theirs. by not talking about their issues, they're effectively sweeping them under the rug and letting them grow larger.

ok, so look at all of this and think about it this way: tim and lucy have a strong relationship, of course. but their foundation has cracks in it that they refuse to address because it could be harder to fix than they're prepared for – it could also be one of those things that doesn't have a fix in the moment, which is worse. tim would never want lucy to give up a career path she loves just to make him happy, because it wouldn't make him happy to see her do that. btw, to be frank: implying lucy's only doing uc because she's been praised about it is gross and taking away her agency/autonomy. she does uc because she loves it. if that's what she chooses, let her fucking choose it and stop acting like she needs to pick between having a loving partner and being an undercover cop. just because it's a complex situation doesn't mean lucy has to give up a career path she loves.

anyway, the foundation has cracks, they're not addressing them/letting them grow, and our story threads are all leading to a drama point. could that drama point be a...conversation? i guess. a fight that lasts 1 episode? maybe. i just doubt it. when you have characters who could very easily still connect with some distance between them romantically (and actors whose chemistry can support it)...why wouldn't you play into that dynamic? split them up and make them work together. make it hurt. make them understand that they want each other and have been put in a position where maybe they can't have each other right now. make it clear to both characters, even more than they already understood, that they need each other. that they want each other. that they'll figure it out however they can because being together is more important.

maybe that's not a path everyone's interested in, but i think it would be fucking tremendous to see them write into the pain points of chenford. they don't do that with other ships, and i get why – but chenford's always been treated differently (imo because they know eric and melissa can sell it better than anyone else on that show) so why the fuck not give them some genuine problems to work through? that's a real part of life! a genuine thing that happens between people! why not delve into some of those issues at an early enough phase in their relationship that it still makes sense that they haven't addressed it?

anywhoo if you do have a crystal ball can you ask it what grade i'm going to get on my math final?

Angry/violent headcanon for TK

 

Oh, boy, this is such a good question for our baby boy! Let me preface this by saying I adore TK, I think he is the sweetest, most compassionate person on the show. He would literally die for his patients in the field, when his friends are hurting he is HURTING. He has big emotions and he feels them deeply, but he doesn’t always understand them. He reacts quickly, a lot of time out of anger when that might not be the true emotion he’s feeling. When we first meet TK, through to the end of S2, he is very emotionally immature. He’s in such a dark place mentally that his response to a rejected proposal is an attempted suicide. He doesn’t really seem to know how to process his feelings, and he lashes out when he’s put into a situation he feels uncomfortable or cornered in, his knee-jerk is angry outburst. We see him blow up and storm out and then come back a while later after he’s processed (to be clear, needing to step away and process before having a conversation is totally valid, it’s the blowing up part that’s not great). I think a lot of this emotional immaturity stems from his childhood and watching his parents. First, he has abandonment issues big time. Second, he watched his parents fight and probably internalized that as the way a relationship is supposed to look. He probably thought that fighting meant passion. I imagine that he’s blown up on past partners and pushed a lot of people away due to this behavior.

 

Now, I think the break up was a big wake up call for him. This time he blew up and pushed Carlos away so hard, he felt there was no way to go back and reconcile it. But this wasn’t just some guy, it was the person that we now know he viewed as his soulmate since the first night they spent together. He was devastated, and he took that time to process. I headcanon that he went to a lot of therapy during this time and did a lot of self-reflection; why did I react this way? How could I have responded in a healthier way? How can I communicate my feelings better in the future? What do I do when I feel an outburst coming on? Etc. etc.

 

We see him maturing over S3-4, and I think that’s really beautiful character development that we don’t really see often on TV. His response to Carlos’s jealousy over Cooper is so mature, he states his rationale and gives Carlos the space to process. His response to pretty much all of Carlos’s bullshit in Season Four is so mature and healthy (I would have liked to see him have a little more agency in expressing his feelings regarding the Iris storyline, but alas). I’m very proud of him, and I think this growth is very reflective of real life when you’ve had a relationship (romantic or platonic!) crumble and you do some self-reflection and try to reset and ask yourself what kind of partner/friend do I want to be? How do I learn to manage my emotions and have healthy relationships with other people.

Is your muse a romantic? Do they dream of love and marriage?

No. Roi finds himself to be unlovable and rather undeserving of love. He is very difficult to get close to. Maybe when he was REALLY young, he used to think about a future where that would happen. But he lost pretty much all hope of that kind of future when his mother died. And with each death in his family that followed, all of which he blamed himself for pretty much, he started to want to stay away from people. Roi could have probably been a romantic (Azem is to an extent) but the world kinda broke him. He doesn't even find it easy to believe people even like him. Not the real him, anyway. It's hard to imagine being in love or married. He kinda thinks he'll probably die alone. And that it's probably for the best.

7. Is your muse the big spoon or the little spoon?

It depends! Roi is pretty protective so he probably would enjoy being the big spoon lol. I also think he deserves to be the little spoon at some point because yeah. But Roi doesn't really feel comfortable sleeping near others (he will eventually!!! but they have to know about his night terrors and be calming to him lol) so it would be awhile before he actually fell asleep with someone. He would most likely default to big spoon because he is a very protective person and he'd like to watch his partner breathe and looked relaxed with him. Since he sees himself as a weapon and not a person, he'd be in awe that someone would feel so safe with him like that.

14. Is your muse more submissive or dominant in a relationship?

Despite Roi being so strong and a natural leader... He tends to be more submissive. The other person needs to be able to take initiative since he's inexperienced. He is also uncertain of himself and terrified of hurting his partner through his behavior or actions. Roi needs reassurance that they are okay with him. That they feel safe and comfortable with him. He treats his partner delicately to start with, since he only knows how to cause harm in his eyes. Roi has a tendency to go with the flow. His energy in the relationship very much matches his partner's. He's shy to start with. He doesn't trust himself at all. He has no idea what he's doing. He tends to prefer people that can guide him. Though he can at times be dominant. Especially in his villain verse where he is a control freak.
