ooo on Kirby saying Lucanis is demi, I am sad and mad about it ngl! I think it works and would've been great to see that represented in text but it isn't! It wasn't hinted at or implied or anything (you could for sure read some of his behaviors as due to him being demi but his hesitancy honestly makes sense otherwise, he just escaped a year of captivity a week ago and hasn't dealt with spite yet, that seemed to be the reason given in game), Kirby stating it after the fact doesn't change anything and doesn't make up for his lack luster romance nor make it representation?

I understand people running to the writers for more information (especially given how lacking many of the characters felt and especially Lucanis) but getting more info from them means very little? We shouldn't be relying on the writers giving us their intentions and headcanons to fill out the game. I know many people expected Lucanis to be a bisexual disaster (Ig panromantic demisexual disaster now?) because Kirby said she wanted him to be and I've seen people be disappointed that he wasn't really that. All this information for what Kirby wanted to write doesn't retroactively make his character better written. Cause in text he really is underdeveloped! What Kirby had in mind sounds great, would've loved to have experienced that! (to clarify I'm not shitting on Kirby for this nor the ppl wanting more, nor the people happy Lucanis was meant to be demi, I'm just :/ at the people who are over the moon with Kirby saying this as if that makes it canon and aspec rep?)

it's finally here!!! my beloved fic for the 520 day guardian reverse exchange! this was written for trobadora, who gave me the most delicious set of ideas to fit into a story. it was so fun.

i have no idea how to describe this fic, frankly - this is, hands down, the most complex and most heartwrenching and most incredible thing i've ever written in my entire life.

here is a list of some things in it: a kiss, a mystery, a change of heart. old chinese people, dark energy world-building, lesbians, big-time character parallels, forgery of documents, rainstorms, rowboats, lollipop symbolism, [redacted], bedsharing, grading, the stupidest undercover name ever. zhao yunlan described with so many light metaphors. shen wei being the most shen wei i could make him.

you wake up one morning and think that a few more minutes in bed won't hurt, right? you don't go back to sleep but you're still curled up in the sheets, eyes shut as you stay warm. and it's peaceful, until you feel and hear the blanket being moved around and a panicked whisper of "but she's sleeping right next to us," when you decide to crack one eye open. just to see takiishi keeping endo pinned to the mattress with his forearm on the other man's upper back, takiishis other hand pulling endos pants and boxers down together in one go. neither of them notice that you're awake yet, endo just trying to keep quiet to not disturb you while takiishis more focused on sliding his dick between endos cheeks for now. until he chooses that's not enough and fucks him. right next to you while you're 'asleep.'

Speaking of Tyrest. A lot of people forget that he treated Pharma with absolute disdain, not only using him as a test subject for a clearly painful mass murder machine, but talking to Pharma like he saw him as nothing but some henchman to order around that was nothing more than a 'diseased cripple' if Tyrest hadn't come to rescue him.

Like it really is an interesting background dynamic with some curious implications, but when you look at fandom posts from around that issue/the years after, for some reason people just saw "Pharma worked with Tyrest" and concluded Pharma is a card carrying bigot ksjfnskxkd. Like yeah Pharma didn't do anything to stop Tyrest but it seems his main beef with the Autobots was with Ratchet in particular and maybe a general disdain for his ex-comrades. As well as continuing to hate Decepticons which like, not even the "good Autobots" are immune to (even in Pharma's introduction, First Aid says in his journal something like "yeah we all hate Decepticons, but Pharma REALLY hates them"). And despite what fandom likes to construe there's really no evidence in IDW1 that Autobots and Decepticons are different "races" or "types" of Cybertronians, so Pharma hating Decepticons really isn't a bigotry/robot racism thing. And instead probably has something to do with, idk, the 4 million year long galaxy-spanning blood feud war, or maybe being blackmailed and tortured into insanity by the Biggest and Most Decepticon-y of Decepticons.

Tyrest treated Pharma like trash, the other Decepticons working for Tyrest (how come no one ever brings that up btw) also hated him, so if anything it seems that Pharma was more of a rogue element only staying with Tyrest bc he was his best option and probably had no way to even escape.

I'm glad that at least in recent years the fandom has acquired a keen reading eye and good taste to finally recognize Pharma as the (accidentally) complex character he is instead of making him some posh, racist Starscream clone SHSJDGSGDH
