i feel like skyborn and fireborn are both imperfect book series, but their highs and lows are such that if they fused, they'd make the perfect series
like as for pacing i think skyborn has that nailed. there's honestly probably some logistical inconsistency to the way they're able to travel around the world in the time they do but by god khoury is so good at writing important and gripping scenes that i don't even process it. everything leads into the next and i never feel like the characters are wasting time -- in fact they seem to be constantly splitting away from places the moment it fulfills their story beat, which might get a bit tiring, but i think that only starts showing around book 3, and only slightly. book 2 has two insane story beats and it fits both of them in there so masterfully, i cannot express this enough, how the hell.
fireborn on the other hand....book 1 and 2 were good but only because there's only 1 conflict to contend with. i will forever clown on book 3 for not only the Trapdoor Scenes but also their foray into the cave clan. like Bro....they were just on a boat....and nothing happened....and the whole time i was reading it like okay are we wasting time as if we do not have a battle that seems like it warrants more than 3 chapters. seven's thing with the goblin place too. like i don't think this is some knock on fowler's writing i think this all had to happen, none of what the characters did was pointless, but i feel like if whoever publishing just let her split it into two books it would have been so much less disappointing.
okay in terms of rereadability though, fireborn does win there for better and for worse. man. starling and the cavern of light still is such a banger book. i keep rereading that scene of phoenix, thorn, and zenith eavesdropping on that meeting, and thorn and phoenix introducing Zenith to some of the elders. it's so charming and i would have killed to have some of that in skyborn. for lack of a better word the characters in fireborn actually like eachother. even though thorn is canonically the most annoying person alive the characters still have these precious moments where they bond and banter and just,,,i care them. when i read about them i really root for their friendships and that's also why phoenix's last regression in the last book was so upsetting, there was something to be upset about.
in both series, it feels like the main cast are extremely loyal to one another, but in skyborn i don't think enough time is put into justifying why they stick around with ellie. we have that brief scene of gussie saying something along the lines of "we wouldn't be doing this if we didn't think it was important too," but i feel like that's such a teenager thing to say. like. they're babies in skyborn. they are So Little. and maybe we can chalk it up to bird people maturing faster or whatever excuse we can make, but i feel like at that age, i was more focused on ride-or-die personal relationships than the fate of the world as i knew it. (or maybe ellie's just built different. i do recall some sort of abstract wanting to do large good in the world, manifesting when i felt lonely and as if i didn't have friends to ride or die for, and hey, maybe that's the point of ellie)
regarding rereadability though, one of the reasons skyborn is less rereadable is because it's legitimately hard to digest ellie and nox's downward spiral. like, there's this prominent dread in the book of how it's up to literal children to stop everything bad in the world and also of how it has to be them because no one else is listening. i will say it kind of cuts into the realism a little bit though because in fireborn at least it's facilitated...like there are these adults training these child soldiers. where else would they be coming from.
i will say, skyborn is probably also a lot better at the antagonists, because the croke and the master are boring and all powerful and they get defeated because of a Magic Axe. In skyborn, there's a corrupt monarchy in place that is literally Sapping Everyone's Souls (and sense of flight) out and the characters have to consistently fight against the crushing weight of propaganda and revisionist history and knights' gross misuse of their power and survival without support of adutls and yeah, this is one of the reason's why it's so hard to reread, but it's crafted so well. you understand why it's gotten this bad and why there's so much violence in the change. however...at the very end...the whole system is just restated again because ellie wanted to be a knight. what. like i would have been beyond happy if there was just one sentence about how "oh the knight system has been completely uprooted into a less violence-based and more reconstruction-focused group" but no. there's just. New System But It's On Tirelas. What.
Fireborn managed to be the complete opposite, where there's not much focus on the inherent wrongness of these child soldiers, vulnerable because they're all either being rejected from a clan or because they are in some other way alone. they're just being groomed to be a body count and it's so uncomfortable to see someone like elder hoarfrost, who if i remember correctly is supposed to be a strict but endearing guiding figure, be so complacent in the using of these children. i understand that fireborn is structured in a way that in its nature, it has to sort of justify the existence of the hunters, and that while skyborn was ambitious in its theming, fireborn doesn't have to be, but man. just thinking about it. no doubt elder hoarfrost and silver and the others were hunters themselves and feel indebted to what they feel like was a home to them when nothing else was, and no doubt the war would have been lost if these child soldiers were not as proficient as they were, but it still feels wrong.
however, there is a turning point at the end. for some reason or another (possibly because a war has just been won) people are reconsidering the existence of the hunters, and that's a very good thing. thorn, phoenix, and seven, products of the hunters and arguably people who did not benefit from the previous system (thorn only got less spiky and unbearable after spending time away from the hunters, who did next to nothing to help his attitude/issues; likewise, phoenix had no sense of community in the hunters -- the only thing stopping her from killing thorn was the rules lmao. seven was even worse under the hunters, not being able to talk to her brother, being ostracized for being weak, etc) finally escaping it and being assured that people like them won't have to go into that system. one could even argue that dog could be a metaphor for this throughout -- he grows less invulnerable, true, but warmer and more alive. he is softer but it is his one wish, as stone, to be able to feel. dog makes me so emotional i need to talk about this more but ive already wasted too much time on it
final point about rereadability -- though if asked outright, i'd say that fireborn's characters are more likable, boy oh boy, they're also more forgettable. six is someone who's very necessary but i don't remember anything about him...sorry....i just remember that he's nice. and he likes seven. and thorn. and phoenix. he likes his friends. what do you want from me. i was not sad that he died, and honestly, had anyone except zenith or dog died, i would have been sad but not regretful? like, thorn or phoenix or hoarfrost died, it would have been devastating but it would also have been interesting. for some i felt like it defeated the purpose of their existence (mainly zenith, being one of the last powerful witches, and dog learning how to be alive) and for seven. eh. it just would have been sad in a shadowsight sort of way.
ellie, gussie nox, and twig are on the opposite side of the spectrum where it's uncomfortable to read parts such as ellie's insistence that nox is the answer to everyone's problems, putting an incredible amount of pressure on him, or gussie's betrayal and ellie's subsequent hatred, or twig's constant insistence that his life is worthless. but by god they're interesting. i would have been destroyed had any of them died, just because there's so much potential for things to get Worse
i must acknowledge one of fireborn's main rereadability points going exclusively to thorn (or, more specifically, five) because fireborn is so much better at comedy. maybe i'm just forgetting all the funny skyborn moments by five is so good at just. lifting the mood in such a dire setting. he's muttering something incomprehensible, eyes shining with hate. eveyone is watching in horror as he consistently antagonizes zenith for No Goddamn Reason. he's a treasure. ellie is also like this, and i do love her for it, but there's the old undercurrent of Dread because we know she's being annoying because she's Actively Mentally Unravelling. Five's just like that for fun.
lastly i think fireborn has better dialogue, but the people sound less distinct. skyborn's dialogue makes me cringe at times, but i sure can tell the difference between ellie or gussie talking.
guhhh long post. sorry

Phoenix: Scum of the earth. Waste. Weakling. It is only due to the nature of this cruel and incomprehensible world that a stain such as you would continue to live when greater and more deserving heroes have passed. I wonder what crime your mother or father committed that such a coward might share their name. You are nothing. Whatever you may do is worth nothing. Also kys
Zenith: 340.1.2.9 i am in your walls
if phoenix and zenith were chronically online what do you think they would comment as a hate comment need urgent answers thanks love you

this new family tree reveal might have been one of the stupidest I've ever seen. Tawnypelt is doing absolutely fuckall about reacting to having another set of grandkids (though from what I've gathered Poolkit and siblings didn't do much either, so at least it's consistent), Flipclaw and Myrtlebloom make their children literally the same amount of inbred as Moonpaw and we already had a whole discourse about That, they refuse to address Floatshimmer's age and instead just make her and Graysky have a Happy Little Family (despite how she's too young and the odd implications that it gives to Gray sadly enough), and WindClan is becoming a mess.
All of the young cats in that Clan are related. Appleshine and Woodsong are Breezeheather kits, but Whistlebreeze, Flutterfoot, Songleap, Grassfur, Branchleap, Learcurl, Stripeheart and Brookripple are all Sedgewhisker's grandchildren and now you're telling me Sedge had Two More Kittens?
And now Apple and Flutter had kittens together. There is no way WindClan isn't becoming the next target of first cousin pairings (I'm calling Grass with either Stripe or Brook, no matter how much I despise that idea) because all of their young cats are descended of one cat now.
They could've saved themselves so much trouble by making Fluff and Silky kittypets, or at least the kids of Slightfoot or someone else that ISN'T related to Gorsetail, but noooooooooooo.
We complain a lot that ShadowClan has become SnowbirdClan, but WindClan is basically becoming GorsetailClan at this rate and they don't have any unrelated mollies anymore. The HeatherBreeze kids are tied up in this mess too now and the only other one they had left to ThunderClan to nearly be cheated on. The only hope they have left is to get sole cats from outside to join not Tawnypelt please, but they're probably too irrelevant for them to actually have something interesting like that going on
I feel like the modern timeline series needs to end after changing skies before these cats inbreed themselves to death. I know inbreeding is inevitable in these kinds of populations but still maybe the Erins could, oh I don’t know, stop putting first cousins together and actually utilise clan swapping and the outsiders joining the clans. Is that too much to ask?

Better Bones Profile: Sedgecreek
RiverClan's first Lake deputy, and world famous cutie pie!
[ID: The BB version of Sedgecreek from Warrior Cats. She is a wood-brown tabby with short, comma-shaped stripes of a darker brown. She is short and her body is long, with a chunky tail.]
Clanmew Name: Kyyrakoshu, nickname Kyyko. (Kyyra = Sedge, a type of lido grass + Koshu = Creek, a small, shady river)
Alignment: RiverClan
Relations: Ex-Mate - Greenflower Children - Swallowtail, Beechfur Nyams - Loudbelly (littermate), Duckfur (Sib-in-law) Education - Crookedstar (mentor), Grasswhisker (apprentice)
See Also: The Dragonkin Family, and the RiverClan Family Tree
Mistyfoot realized at the end of BB!TNP that Hawkfrost was not the tiger that lurked within RiverClan. He didn't choose himself as deputy while she was captured, breaking the code in the process. It wasn't his call to defy StarClan's will to delay the Great Journey. It was up to Leopardstar to punish the surviving RiverClan mercenaries who served Mudclaw's insurrection, and overrule the false sign that exiled three cats from her Clan... and she didn't.
Seated atop the stump with the sun setting behind her, Leopardstar's black silhouette invoked Mistyfoot's memory of a powerful cat lording over a pile of bones. Her eyes flashed-- Tigerstar amber, dark forest red. His ideas were an infectious sort of immortal; they will not die unless they are killed.
So with Leopardstar's sudden, 'mysterious' death to a "rogue", Mistystar realized she would need to make a strong, tactical choice of a new deputy. Someone who would be able to help her navigate the tense situation she was in, to balance out the harsh choices she was about to make, to be the honey to her sting.
The choice was obvious. Now, she would have to prepare for the hard work ahead...
[ID: BB!Mistystar and BB!Sedgecreek leaning back to back. Mistystar grimly explains, "someone will die." Sedgecreek interjects, "of fun!!!"]
(Lots more below the cut!)
Personality and Trivia:
She is CHEERFUL! It takes a lot to make Sedgecreek upset!
Always smiling, never loses hope, always tries to see the bright side of every situation.
"A mistake is just a chance to learn what NOT to do!!"
People like her. She's just a super likeable person, the sort of cat who gets along with people you'd never expect.
She has learned that you should listen twice as much as you talk. She's always there to comfort her friends, family, and clanmates. Very approachable personality.
I imagine a lot of RiverClan warriors are "stocky," longer than they are tall, Sedgecreek especially.
She's also got a very thick tail, making her an excellent and sturdy swimmer.
Her favorite food is pike meat, which Greenflower once wooed her with. Not very many RiverClan warriors are bold enough to tangle with pikes.
Imo, Sedge is a super underrated background character. Her apprenticeship under Crookedjaw is super cute and no one ever talks about it!
and BOY OH BOY has her role been expanded in BB!!
Long before the Great Journey was even a consideration, back during TPB…
Sedgecreek was mates with Greenflower. They welcomed their kits, Swallowkit and Beechkit, to the world just before RiverClan and ShadowClan moved to form TigerClan.
Greenflower's sibling, Duckfur, was the honor sire for the couple. Under the Queen's Rights, you don't have to explain where your kittens came from. Sedgecreek gave birth and that's that.
But supporters of Thistle Law do not respect the Queen's Rights.
When Greenflower announced openly that their kittens had been sired by Duckfur, Sedgecreek was uncomfortable, but believed she was keeping their family safe.
But... it turned out to be worse than that.
Greenflower was a true believer. She had been holding a lot of her 'worst' ideas back, but felt emboldened to speak openly with the alliance between Tigerstar and Leopardstar.
Sedgecreek knew Greenflower went to the execution of Stonefur... but she couldn't. She couldn't bring herself to.
She couldn't watch an old friend die like that, or stomach the thought of Greenflower reacting to it.
They stayed together for the children, as Sedgecreek staved off the dawning realization that her mate wasn't the cat she thought she was.
It was easy to put it off a little longer, when their next common enemy was BloodClan and RiverClan "returned to normal."
Though they nearly had a blow-out argument over RiverClan refusing to join in with the trading that WindClan and ThunderClan were doing with BloodClan... Sedgecreek apologized, and held her tongue. Suddenly, their roles had been reversed, with Sedgecreek staying quiet to "keep the peace".
Normally very cheerful and outspoken, with friends in other Clans and open-mindedness to cooperation, Sedgecreek spent almost two years of her life just trying to save her mateship. She thought that maybe Greenflower would return to the bold, loyal cat she used to adore, if she just loved her enough and made her feel heard...
But then, during the Great Journey...
Their baby Swallowtail fell in love with a ThunderClan warrior, Rainwhisker.
Greenflower "warned her" about loving cats from other Clans, "Don't make me do something I don't want to, Swallowtail."
Sedgecreek knew how powerful love can be. Rainwhisker was big, handsome, and sweet. She saw a lot of herself in him, and would have approved of him as her son-in-law in a heartbeat
Even though Swallowtail was trying to hide it after that confrontation, Sedgecreek KNEW that Rainwhisker was perfect for her. She knows her daughter better than anyone-- Swallow would never be able to fight it.
But all journey long, Greenflower was growing more and more critical of Swallowtail. Comparing her to her brother Beechfur, constantly questioning her whereabouts, making up stupid tasks to keep her busy.
Sedge and Green were fighting over it, again, but this time Sedge was starting to care less about making up afterwards.
Then, the worst possible thing happened... during the WindClan Civil War, Rainwhisker was killed in battle.
Swallowtail was inconsolable. That brought them all together, for just a little while longer.
But then, Swallowtail discovered she was pregnant. She didn't say anything about the father, and yet Greenflower LOST it. She flew into a frenzy, shouting their daughter down and threatening to disown her. The line that finally broke their mateship was simply,
"Just when it seemed like the problem was solved--"
Sedgecreek didn't even let her finish. How DARE she?? To treat their baby's painful loss, their coming grandchildren, and Swallowtail's right as a Queen, like the continuation of a problem???
So she told her to get out. Quietly at first. Greenflower refused, so she said it louder. Then she shouted it. And then she SCREAMED it, and when THAT didn't work, she THREW her out of the Cleric's den. For SEASONS she had sacrificed for the sake of her children, only for it to end in a choice between her wife and daughter.
But even then, Sedgecreek felt hot with shame that she'd caused such a scene! The whole camp saw her toss Greenflower like a rotten fish!! Sweet, cheerful Sedgecreek!!! It was mortifying, she'd never lost her temper like that, the entire Clan was surprised!
Mistyfoot saw this just like everyone else in RiverClan... and it stood out in her mind, as she shuffled home considering who her deputy would be.
It had to be someone as uncontroversial as possible... Mistyfoot's reputation had been dragged through the mud by Hawkfrost's constant challenges. A sizable portion of RiverClan did not respect her anymore.
So Swansong, her brother and greatest ally, was out of the question. He didn't have a diplomatic bone in his body.
Mosspelt was her sister-in-law, and she needed a deputy who could ward off accusations of nepotism.
Reedwhisker had Skyheart as his mentor, who kept him in an apprenticeship nightmare for over a year. He was too young on top of being ineligible.
But, she needed someone who would understand the threat they faced, and take it seriously. It, hopefully obviously, couldn't be one of her enemies.
And THAT was when she remembered Sedgecreek standing up to Greenflower. How she's everyone's friend, patient and enthusiastic, and yet how she still snapped at her long-time mate.
While no one knows EXACTLY why she snapped except the little family itself, Mistyfoot had a good hunch it was related to Swallowtail claiming Queen's Rights for her litter.
And that is exactly the sort of principled cat she needs by her side.
So... Sedgecreek was perfect. She was diplomatic, friendly, and yet, able to stand up for herself, ready to fight for the Clan they deserved. Her upbeat personality would be a perfect compliment to Mistystar's dour, serious one. This was the best possible choice.
During BB!OotS, Sedgecreek was targeted for replacement by the Dark Forest demons. While they managed to kill several of their targets and even cause ShadowClan to fall, Sedgecreek managed to escape an attempt on her life. But, before anyone could breathe a sigh of relief, she took it as a sign to step down so that someone younger could take over. By this point, she had become a great-grandmother and was beginning to feel her age.
Reedwhisker takes her place as deputy, and she's able to live out the last of her days in the Elder's Den. She peacefully passes away at some point in AVoS, surrounded by the family she chose to stand beside.

The Forest Territories
The Skyfall AU takes place (roughly) in Western Scotland, drawing inspiration from the counties of Argyll, Bute, Ayrshire, Dumfries, and Galloway. Loch Lomand and the Trossachs (in Argyll and Bute) in particular serves as an inspiration for the environment of these clans.
As such, some of the clan's environments are going to be shifted (especially Shadowclan) in order to better match the environment of these areas.
[A map will be added to this post and posted separately once I get the chance to draw one]
Thunderclan
upland oakwoods (oak dominant, rowan, alder; some ash, hazel, hawthorn, blackthorn, and bird cherry)
upland mixed ashwoods (ash, alder, hazel, downy birch, oak)
Thunderclan territory is predominantly old growth oak, stretching from the Fourtrees through to the road that separates the main woodlands from the Sprucewood (the new name for the Tallpines). The area around the Thunderclan Camp and Sandy Hollow are mixed ashwoods with a wider variety of tree species. Trees such as willows and birch are more common close to the river, but are still few and far between. The Sprucewood/Tallpines is human-planted Sitka Spruce, frequently cut for lumber. As such, the really is almost exclusively young spruce growth with very little biodiversity.
Shadowclan
fen (sedges, rushes, scrub, etc)
native pinewood forest (pines, birch, rowan, juniper)
wet woodlands (alder, willow, birch)
Shadowclan territory is very wet and trees much more sparse than in the neighboring Thunderclan forest. Most of the territory is fen and wet woodland, dominated by alder and birch trees, with the occasional willow. Upland stretches of the territory, especially by the road and the Carrionplace, are largely pinewood forest. However, the lower elevation center of the territory is entirely wetland with a stream carving through the territory. Think of Shadowclan territory as a bowl with pine on the rim and wetland in the middle.
Riverclan
river shoreline
wet woodland (alder, willow, birch)
lowland mixed deciduous woodland (oak, ash, birch, hazel, elm, etc.)
Riverclan is a lowland stretch of sparse woodland squished between the road, river, and twolegplace. The smallest territory by land area, Riverclan territory is dominated by willow and birch trees, thicker in the middle of the territory and much sparser by the edges. Meadow covers the northern part of the territory bordering Windclan and some spruce trees dot the border by the Sprucewood.
Windclan
moorland/heathland
montane scrub/treeline woodlands
blanket bogs (peatland, sphagnum mosses, cranberry, sundew, etc)
upland birchwood (birch dominant, rowan, hazel, oak, alder, cherry, aspen, juniper)
Windclan territory is a mix of heath and bog and is in general the highest elevation territory of the Forest Four. If Shadowclan is a bowl, Windclan is that bowl flipped upside down. The edges of the territory by Riverclan are wet meadow and the border with Shadowclan is more boggy and covered in peatland bog. The rest of the territory is largely heathland, grassier by the Fourtrees and rockier as the territory gets closer to Highstones and Barley's Farm. Small pockets of upland birchwood exist on the southwestern patch of the territory around the river, just before the falls.
Skyclan (Ancient)
upland mixed ashwoods
upland birchwoods
Ancient Skyclan territory occupied the region now covered by the Sprucewood and part of the Twolegplace. When this territory existed, it was mostly mixed ash and birchwoods, dominated by ash, alder, juniper, and birch trees. Patches of meadow also dotted the territory, especially in the area that is now the Twolegplace. The forest was much denser by the Riverclan border (now the Sprucewood).
Skyclan (Gorge)
upland mixed ashwoods
The Gorge Cats/Skyclan occupy a territory is actually fairly similar to the original territory in the forest, just rockier and more barren. Dominted by ashwood with a occasional patch of oak, Skyclan gorge territory is rocky and sparsely planted with new growth forest, presumably planted after humans were done quarrying in the area. The forest is thicker down by the river and the land above the gorge by the twolegplace is mostly farmland with the occasional patch of ash and oak trees.

Name suggestions that follow Warriors naming conventions for a Spottedleaf (Warriors) kin who is working on naming their kinsona.
Name transcriptions and their meaning(s) and/or reason(s) for being on this list under the cut.
Mod Haze (🥧Fiona & ☀️Sol)
Blazemarble - The first part, “Blaze-”, is an homage to Spottedleaf's bravery, as well an homage towards Fireheart in general. The second part, “-marble” is a reference towards a marbled fur pattern, which is also referenced in their source's name; “Spottedleaf.”
Dappledheart - A name that not only keeps the appearance-based conventions that “Spottedleaf” has with it's prefix, but also pays homage to Firestar with its suffix, as he used to go by Fireheart.
Dawnspots - The suffix of this name is an homage to the prefix part of the name that Spottedleaf kept during her entire existence. The prefix of this name denotes her ascension to Star Clan and beyond.
Leafwhisker - A name that both pays homage to Spottedleaf and her mentor, Featherwhisker.
Hopestem - A name that not only insinuates that the bearer is where hope stems from, but also references plants with it’s suffix.
Lotuswish - A name that keeps the plant-like naming convention that Spottedleaf took on as a Medicine cat, but adds in a sense of kin euphoria through the “-wish” suffix and mystical concepts of rebirth and divinity, as that is what the Lotus flower is known for.
Mottlesight - A name that not only keeps the appearance-based conventions that “Spottedleaf” has with it's prefix, but also references the ability to receive prophetic visions with its suffix.
Orchidpool - A name that not only invokes the love, thoughtfulness and spiritual perfection symbology associated with orchids, but also works as an homage to one of the kits Spottedleaf guided, Leafpool, who's own name might also be an homage to Spottedleaf. This grants the name a cyclical quality that references the spiritual death and rebirth of all things.
Skybark - A name with nature vibes. It denotes someone who is both tough and spirituality oriented, but also has their "head-in-the-clouds," so to speak.
Whitesedge - Pronounced as “white sedge,” this name references a white underbelly (such as the one Spottedleaf has) and an interest in plants/nature.

okay I lied.... I know this was initially supposed to be a clangen blog, but WRONG. hijacking this blog with my warrior cats universe.
so!!! let me introduce yall to Sedgeclan :]
● Sedgeclan ●
The smallest of the clans, although their territory remains undisputed due to its formidable, disagreeable weather. They live in the alpine zone, far above the snaking path down to the mangrove swamp that Mossclan lives within. This area is rocky, and the vegetation is made up of small and crooked, ancient trees, lichen, and as anticipated, sedges. They live on a chilly moor above the timberline, and a sense of reverence towards their weather keeps these cats from straying too far- either that, or it fully drives them away. This clan has the most "lost kits," either to predators, or the (perceived) easier life within another clan.
These cats are quick, hardy, and stealthy. Sedgeclan is the most accepting of outsiders, and they're known for their caution.

Sedge appears to really admire Bog! Does he also train with/against Bog, or is it more of an admiration from afar?
Mirage is a spirit of the desert - is she actually a dragon, or does she just appear as one? Do any other dragons tell stories about her?
What is Incense's favourite (or most valuable, in case they can't pick!) item in her collection?
@mudpuddle-fr
(ps: your dragons are all gorgeous!)
thank you for the ask ! ^. .^ I giggled and kicked my feet irl at this ask, it's so thought out and inspiring. Thank you, also, for calling all my dragons gorgeous!!!
pt 1. of answering this ask , I wrote a lot just about Sedge. pt 2 here
Lore & image below the cut !
Sedge finds themselves in awe of Bog so frequently, they had no choice but to admire him. Sedge has trained with Bog a few times, but hasn't shown to be as effective (or, especially, as brutal) in battle.
When Bog sets off from the his corner of the swamp into the Mire, multiple members of the clan, Sedge included, keep their ears to the wind for when he returns. The typical way things go, Bog either brings back his trainees (or doesn't) or his spoils from battle to the members of the Collective, making the trek after his time in the Mire to the Thicket or even the Desert to offload his burdens.
Most of Sedge's collection of bones, bottles and other trinkets are from these excursions, picked from the leftovers after Bog circles back to the familiar, muddy swamp. Do not be mistaken, though, that all are collected this way, as Sedge has a mawful of items he is particularly proud of finding himself. Bringing attention to the bones that Sedge adorns his wings (infrequently-used, a truth about most Swamp residents, as far as the Collective is concerned) with; these, too, were gathered from Bog's Mire Loot. Though Sedge most definitely had to ask for help from someone with much more nimble claws to string them all together to make his chimes.

drew my fav clangen kitties. shardclan is made up of cats that reject starclan and the zealous bigotry it imparts to the living.
starclan is very vindictive in this verse, so all shardclan cats go to the dark forest when they die.
tigernettle is the leader of the clan. she is a control freak and runs the clan as such. she holds grudges for minor inconvenience and is not above the use of violence on dissenting clanmates. she cares nigh exclusively only for her eldest son, sedgewave, to the exclusion of her other children. she died the moon after her son, the game called it greencough but i call it heartbreak. she hates starclan and the whole world for cutting sedge's life short and wants them destroyed for it.
pearhawk is tigernettle's ex-mate and (former) deputy. he's cold, but.... not like her. his final straw was tiger's plot to push the apprentices (including their son) into arranged marriages to force more cats to be born into the clan. he broke up with her the same day she found out she was carrying their second litter.... tigernettle still respects him on a professional level and keeps him as the deputy. he eventually died of greencough.
sedgewave is a senior warrior and very popular within the clan due to his charisma. his mom's reputation might hover over him, but he isn't stuck up about it. he adores tigernettle and would never do anything to disappoint her. he was killed when a neighboring clan attacked in the dead of night, attempting to ravage the nursery. he saved his mate and one of his newborn kits, but the other died with him.

SECRETS OF THE CLANS, JANUARY OPENING!
In celebration of our January 14th - January 28th opening, we're going to be highlighting each of the clans, to give you a better idea of what they're like / how different they are from the books!
Last and certainly nor least, our clan is...
RiverClan
ART CREDITS: carnationcarnivore on discord!
A chorus of joint laughter rings in your ears, betrayed by paws who couldn’t grip on the slippery stones, a flushed face erupts from the burbling water - though an embarrassed snicker escapes your throat, you immediately shake out that drenched pelt and relish in the playful shrieks of those same Clanmates who were giggling earlier. Almost spurred on by the whimsical river, having hunting patrols turn into splash fights was a common occurrence here.
To be your eyes into RiverClan Territory, Granitewish a Riverclan waterweaver is here to interview some of her clanmates! Take it away Granitewish!
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──
"Tell me a bit about RiverClan territory!"
"RiverClan territory? It's awesome, filled to the brim with unique fish, beautiful flowers, and...water! So many streams, ponds, pools, and rivers. I love to just forget everything and swim in the calm waters. Even though we don't have many trees, we can still cool off in greenleaf! It's refreshing to get soaked after a hot, sunny day." — Cloudfish
Just as the river flows through the veins of every Riverclan cat, the waters that give the clan its name are the lifeblood of the land it calls home. Follow along the riverbend and you'll be greeted by a plethora of breathtaking sights; vibrant flowers warming their faces in the sun, shimmering waterfalls that glow in the moon's light. You could take a trip to the hot springs to warm your aching muscles and enjoy some tea with your clanmates, or maybe you'd prefer a relaxing swim in the harmonic creek? Whatever you decide, Riverclan has enough to offer to keep anyone busy the whole day through; from the bustle of fish-filled waters to the brush of luscious foliage against fur, its territory is a bright space alight with life. Some even say the land itself is alive, and if you keep quiet enough, you can hear its gentle breath in the trickle of the river.
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──
“What's your favourite spot in RiverClan territory? Could you tell me a bit about why?”
"Hmmm... My favowite spot in the tewritory? Well, I think it has to be the healer's den... It's the first place I saw when I arrived in WiverClan! I still go there often to see Cypwesswatcher!" — Goldfishpaw
Duck through an archway of sedge, and you'll be greeted by the den in which Riverclan's Healers do their work. An abandoned burrow at the base of an ancient tree, it isn't remarkable upon first glance. But, stick your head inside and you'll be greeted by rows upon rows of carefully cultivated herbs hanging from the walls, with rows of nests resting beneath - that is, if Cypresswatcher's piercing gaze doesn't catch your eye first. Riverclan's Healers have dedicated their lives to the health of their clanmates, and it isn't a position they take lightly; so, if you ever find yourself injured or sick, then be sure to pay them a visit! (And yes, this includes that scrape you've been ignoring...)
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──
“What's a favourite memory you have that's taken place on RiverClan territory?”
“My absolute favorite?? Aw that’s hard I love so many memories.. uhmm… ok ok I got one! My favorite memory is when Ebonhaze and I went to the siren’s cove together, and we left our paw prints in some of the mud. We’ve been doing it since we were apprentices and it’s like a little visual reminder in the world of our lov- I mean our friendship! Ahem- uh next question please." — Kiwiheart
The siren's cove is a perfect spot for Riverclan's romantic melodies, in a secluded cave surrounded by the river, echoes against the walls give promise to any yearning warrior who wants to perfect their courtship harmony. Both romantic and platonic love are deeply valued in the hearts of Riverclan cats, and a large variety of customs are enough proof to back this! Family dens, woven together with moss, reeds and brambles host a variety of loving relationships, from a couple and their kits, to platonic soulmates, their shared den is decorated to celebrate their interests and mutual affections. Specific courtship rituals, similar to that of the songs in sirens cove-- go into flamboyant and earnest declarations of romantic confessions, a bouquet of flowers to be woven into one's nest to announce the start of a relationship followed by the finding of a smooth rock from the river to commit to an engagement, there's no limit to how passionate a Riverclan warrior can be.
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──
“What's one thing you'd like others to know about RiverClan's culture?”
“I think Riverclan places a lot of importance on its history, and sharing that through songs. Of course, not everyone can sing like a nightingale, but no one really minds that. At least I don't.” — Flopfeather
Riverclan is rich and deeply felt, taking artistic leaps into the depths of their culture. Song is not only for the romantic heart, but a tied connection to the very start of the clan. Tunes and lyrics are woven together to memorialize their history, passed down from generation to generation. Their admiration for the finer things continues to the bright blossoms across their territory, flowers of all types have meaning for more than den decoration and visual appreciation-- but flower language is often a hobby across waterweavers and shorekeepers a like, tied into their marriages, courting and formal attires. Territorial appreciation is not only carried to the rivers, but in the stars that reflect above. Riverclan has their own array of constellations, telling the story of the mighty Riverstar and even controversially-- starcrossed forbidden lovers.
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──
“What's your opinion on your council?”
"Camelliastar is a really good leader, you can tell just how much he loves his Clan. Sunrise is a really fun cat to be around. And I spend so much time hanging out with the healers. One of them, Larchbounce, is even like a mother to me." — Ebonypaw Riverclans council over the last couple moons have seen much change and development from where it once was, but do not let that fool you- they are just as devout and just as willing to serve in any way that they can! Every day they work tirelessly to aid their clan and do what they must to keep riverclan going each and every day. That said at the head of the helm lies Riverclans own Camelliastar, taking leadership after Mudstar's (now Mudstorm's) retirement, he leads the clan in a different angle than most. Followed by his deputy, Sunrise, a boisterous and bashful cat. He often can be found jesting around camp and hyping up his clanmates with his bellowing height and voice. That said, riverclan follows their rule happily, happy with them in charge. That said, the healer team is also one of the most notable parts of Riverclans ranks. After all! Like all the healer teams, Riverclans are just as devoted to their work and helping their clan, and through and through have an utmost duty to their work. Though! They aren’t sticklers either! More rather than not, you can find them doing what any Riverclan cat might, sunbathing, hunting, and even weaving and other crafts! Making them cats, had you not known they were healers? You might have mistaken them for just another part of riverclans eclectic ranks!

D&D Blorbo Roundup:
Since I’ve been doing these rapid-fire askmemes, the gang:
“Benny”/Benevolence | Tiefling Bard, College of Lore
The only rules worth anything, I learned from my father. No collateral damage. You are responsible for what you allow. And never try to justify cruelty. Also, bagpipes are outdoor instruments. He’s a very wise man.
Rinda Broadstone | Dwarven Paladin of Bahamut
Justice is a shield. And a hot meal with a kind word fights more evil than a sword could defeat in a thousand years.
Atri | Aarakocra (Peregrine falcon) Life Domain Cleric of the Raven Queen
Death is supposed to mean an end to suffering. That’s my Lady’s promise, and necromancy breaks it! It targets people who are meant to be past all harm, people who can’t defend themselves or even ask for help! The undead aren’t abominations. Necromancers are.
Sedge Burdock | Halfling Fighter/Druid
Cruelty dies in daylight.
Lorne Cooper | Dragonborn Barbarian
The best thesis defense is a good thesis offense.
Haliastur “Kite” Proteles | Gnoll Fighter (Cavalier)
‘Course I left the clan. Wanted a life that meant something. Better than mindless, bloodthirsty scavengers preying on the weak... Or maybe my mother was right and I just haven’t got the head for hedge-fund management like the rest of ‘em. Either way, you gonna eat that bandit leg? Some good marrow in that femur there, c’mon.
Concorde | Tiefling Warlock (Bronze Dragon/Reskinned Fathomless, Pact of the Tome)
Midshipman Concorde Drakonheart at your service, ma’am. HMS Resolve.
