December, 2010.
¨ALFREEED! Dick is hitting me again!¨ You called for some help, a smile creeping your face.
¨Hey! That's not fair! We're training! You're supposed to get hurt! It's not my fault you're way too weak to protect yourself.¨ He pointed the training-stick to you, motioning to get up, but his action quickly stopped when he saw a tear running down your cheek.
¨Hey, hey, hey¨ He knelt down in-front of you cupping your cheek and wiped the tear away with his thumb. ¨I'm sorry, okay?, you're not weak, i'm just better than you.¨ That made you jokingly punch him on his stomach at which he only chuckled. ¨Okay, maybe not better than you, but practice makes perfect, c'mon, get up and let's watch some tv.¨
As a kid, you couldn't know what you felt for Dick, you mostly though he was 'special' since he was the only kid living with you and Wayne. A 11 year old knows what's love, and you're sure Dick, as a 14 year old knows it too. He's likely to not think very seriously when you tell him you love him, but in reality?
He's the beast for your beauty.
December, 2014.
You gazed at Dick through curious-lashed eyes, your heart pounding with a mix of nerves and adoration. You had been harboring a secret crush on him for what felt like forever. But as much as you treasured this friendship, you couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness.
"So, Dick," you began, voice light and teasing, "any thoughts on the winter gala this weekend?¨
Dick's eyes lifted from the book he'd been engrossed in, confusion creasing his forehead. "Winter gala? Oh man, I totally forgot about that. Should we go?"
Your heart sank slightly, but tried to hide it behind a smile. "Hmm, I don't know. I'm not much of a dancer, you know."
Dick laughed, his melodic chuckle resonating in the serene surroundings. "Come on, you just need someone to teach you a few moves."
Your stomach fluttered at the suggestion, butterflies dancing wildly within you. Did Dick just imply he would teach you how to dance? Or were you reading too much into it?
Your laughter filled the air as Dick playfully tried to demonstrate dance steps on the carpet of grass, and much to your delight, you followed along, attempting your own clumsy version.
Hours passed until both of you were breathless from dancing and laughing. You plopped down onto the picnic blanket, side by side, shoulders brushing intimately.
Your mind started to wander, daydreaming about what it would be like if he ever realized your feelings. Would he reciprocate? Or would he still see you as just a friend?
"You know," Dick suddenly said, his voice laced with mischief, "if I had someone who danced with such enthusiasm as you, I wouldn't mind going to the gala at all."
ba-boom, ba-boom, you were sure you're going to pass out. Your eyes widening in disbelief. Could it be that he was finally taking notice of you?
"Really? You… you'd want that… from me?"
Dick tilted his head, his dazzling blue eyes capturing your gaze. "Of course, why not? You're amazing, and being with you always makes me happy."
Leaning against Dick's shoulder, you closed your eyes, basking in the warmth of the friendship of you two. Maybe, just maybe, someday he would see you in a different light. But for now, you're just cherishing these moments of pure, unadulterated fun.
December, 2017.
You were at Dick's 21st birth-day, which, Wayne made the 'reunion' for his birth-day, or what he likes to call it, his 'gala'. Your excitement was jumping everywhere, you even bought a new dress for this occasion, his present was a nice bracelet you bought by yourself, with your money.
It wasn't the most expensive, neither the most fancy, but it was made just for him. Unique in this world, well, the matching bracelets were unique in this world. You were ready to finally confess your love for him, bracelets with initial of you two, not because you're owned by the other, but because you know each other. It was your princess dream, and it was finally time for this.
After some final touches, you were ready. Entering the room, you could see a lot of people, mostly Wayne's acquaintances or friends, but you finally spotted him, actually, with Wayne.
You couldn't quite see what was he wearing since you only could see his back, but Wayne seemed happy, at least.
With quick steps, careful to not trip yourself with your dress, and throw away his present, you finally got closer to him.
¨Dicky! I know I already said happy birthday to you, but look-... Oh.¨
Oh.
Who was this girl?
¨Oh Y/N, great you're here, look this is my new girlfriend, her name is Daisy.¨ You locked eyes with her, she seemed nice, ha. ¨Daisy, this is Y/N, she's like my little sister, practically known her my whole life.¨
Oh wow.
¨It's a pleasure to meet you Y/N¨
¨Pleasure it's mine.¨ And with that, it was enough for you, how oblivious this fucker can be? ¨Dick, can we talk for a moment?¨ You didn't even waited for him to answer when you already grabbed his wrist and took him into his room.
When you were at your room, you couldn't take it anymore and broke down crying.
You wandered further into the room, gaze avoiding his as you tried to gather the turbulent thoughts. The weigh of your confession threatening to choke the words from your throat. But you had to do this, even if it costs the friendship.
"I-I've been keeping something to myself for a while," voice quivering. "And I just couldn't hold it in any longer. Dick, I've had a crush on you for as long as I can remember."
His brows furrowed in confusion, and you glanced up for a fleeting moment, catching a glimpse of his girlfriend's picture on his desk. Pain surged through your chest, but you proceeded. "I know you have a girlfriend now, and I understand if you don't feel the same way. But I just couldn't let this day go by without telling you how I feel, this was supposed to be the day, when you think i'm not longer a little child, where you could love me as I do."
Words trembling with vulnerability. Dick remained silent for a moment, his expression laden with guilt. Slowly he closed the distance between you two. His gentle touch on your arm made your heart skip a beat, yet it also stung with unrequited affection.
"I'm really sorry," he murmured, his voice filled with regret. "I never meant to hurt you or lead you on. You've been an amazing friend, and I don't want to lose that.¨
¨I'm sorry, but we can't be friends anymore... I will always see you as something else.¨
PRESENT TIME.
You didn't exactly cut connections with Dick, well, since you both lived in the same house for a while more, but let's say you remained as... distant family. You saw each-other at parties, meetings, galas, so... you were still in contact!
Gratefully, not that you would show your happiness, he broke up with his girlfriend, way too manipulative and control freak. But that's not all!, you grew up, your feelings for him didn't disappeared, but you hid them far away from you.
He already knew your boyfriend, he acted kind and nice about it, not that both of you could talk a lot about it.
This gala was made by Wayne, again. Dick got really distant since he resigned from being Robin, and started a new group of Titans, you were a little jealous about it, but mostly sad for not being part of it.
You were talking with some of your boyfriend's friends, some boring conversation about some new business, which you couldn't care less about, but you caught a familiar silhouette not so far from where you are.
Apparently he brought the titans with him, you don't know them personally, just by news, magazines, and well, because of him.
And to say you weren't a little tipsy was a lie. But who could blame you? But being drunk also brings some... distortions about what's really happening. He was drinking too! With another girl!
After some time of asking for more shots, getting all touchy with your boyfriend, just so he could look at you, he's been doing the same, getting all touchy and flirty with her. Everything was like a competition of who would get more jealous first and leave. And well, like he said once, he's better than you.
With clumsy steps, somehow you made into your old room. Memories coming fast liken a roller coaster, emotions beating out the small chest you tried to forget all this time, you needed him.
Clicking his number on your phone, it's like he was waiting for it, like this was going to happen.
¨Heyyyyy' Dicky'- Hic!¨ you giggled at the sudden hiccup, and you could tell Dick was giggling too, it made your heart beat faster. ¨What's wrong little bee?¨ He said, some unrecognizable background noise was getting less and less loud. ¨Little beeeeee'? What's that- hic! type of nickname?¨ Both of you just laughed at the sudden and dumb conversation between two idiots in love.
¨You know... My boyfriend is a little- he- a little shit.¨
¨He's worse than my ex? No waaaaay¨ He said with a chuckle.
¨Yeah, he's been fucking some other girl... I don't know for how much time, but it's been a whileeeee¨ You started laughing suddenly, ¨And you know what I hate most? hic!- It's that surely you been fucking some other bitchees heh-.... bitches before me. You know I hate you for that right love?¨
¨You don't how many nights I been jacking off by myself thinking about you ever since we distanced apart. I didn't realized how much I needed you to be in myyyy life.¨
¨...........¨
¨...............¨
¨.... Dicky... I need you¨
¨Oh... you do princess? Where do you need me?¨
¨In my room, I need you now¨
¨And for what princess? I'm going there.¨ He was giggling while walking.
¨I need you to fuck me for once.¨
That's the last thing he heard when he hang up and with quick steps he got into your room, and with no words needed both of you started kissing each other, between giggles with just one sudden push and you landed among the sheets. Dick got on top of you and started kissing you as you started tugging at the hem of his shirt.
Dick's shoulders were wide, his hips narrow and there was a visible V-line that was half-hidden by his trousers. You were trying not to stare, but it seemed impossible since he was so appealing. Dick helped you to unzip your dress and you were lying only in you lace lingerie. His eyes were devouring you. How he couldn't notice how perfect you were for him?
Suddenly, Dick grabbed you calves and pulled you towards him on the edge of the bed. His free hand reached out for a pillow that was laying nearby and placed it under you hips. You were following closely his every move and your head started spinning a bit, a side effect of the substances in your bloodstream. He kneeled in-between your thighs and was placing small kisses on your bare skin.
His fingers pulled your panties to the side while he looked you in the eye before dragging his tongue over your clit. ¨Ah!- Nng- D..Dick!¨ You moaned at the sensation and reached out to touch his hair. His warm breath was caressing you, his movements were lazy yet precise.
You were getting frustrated with the slow tempo and you were about to say something when he pressed his index finger against your entrance. It didn’t take too long before you were moaning his name as he added another digit. Again, the pool of heat was starting to build up in your stomach while he curled his fingers inside you. Dick seemed amazed by how eagerly your hips were meeting his palm, the wet sounds of him moving his fingers inside you, made him eager to fuck you, he brushed his thumb against your clit once more before giving a small peck and standing up, taking of his pants and what was left of your clothes, he positioned himself between your legs.
You saw Dick right before he thrust his hips to enter you again. Your body was warm, already so fucking wet, he didn’t think he could last long enough for it to be fun, but then he steadied himself and slowed down the pace. He ran a finger across your lips, signaling to open them at which and you opened them wide enough to suck on it.
He bent over only to start leaving kisses in your neck that would for sure be purple by tomorrow. ¨Aren't you a good girl princess? A good, good girl.¨
¨Such a nice girl for me, I bet no one else has touched this pussy.¨
¨You- you're, ah!~ right, Dicky-, You're the first one to fuck me. Reaching a lot of place my fingers couldn't reach while thinking of you.¨
It's like something on Dick turned on, and started violently thrust into you in a bestial force, making you cum when his cock touched that place. His eyes were even darker, his dilated pupil taking over his blue-crystal eyes.
¨Oh yeah? I'm the first one to fuck you?¨
¨Ye-yes, other b-boys tried to give me pleasure on other ways and couldn't do it as good, nhg!~ as you.¨
His thrusts started becoming harder instead of faster, the though of another man fingering you made him mad. You were now his.
“You are driving me insane and I’m this close to losing my shit because of you.”
¨Make me yours Dick.¨
The next day, Dick was kissing your naked body while you were hugged on his, since you were kids you were always the small spoon. He was observing how he could never notice how perfect you are, you were always for him, you were the one.
He feels so incredible right now, the chemistry both of you have, it's amazing.
His fucking phone started ringing.
¨Fuck, the Titans meeting, shit.¨ He looked at your sleepy body and decided to dress you up, and obviously dress himself.
He forgot to leave you a note to notice you he's coming back, but you only realized once he woke you up knocking on your door.
He had... flowers?
¨Dick, why are you here?¨
¨Look Y/N, I know yesterday was a roller coaster of emotions, and I feel so dumb for never loving you the way you deserved to, but please, give me a chance, you won't regret it, and I guess you and your boyfriend-¨
¨Dick.¨
¨Just hear me out for a minute okay?, I never wanted to admit it, mostly because I thought I would lose you, not because of you, but because of me, I don't know what problem I have, but that doesn't matter right now-¨
¨Dick.¨
¨I will fight for us no matter what, and last night definitely wasn't an accident-¨
¨Dick! What are you talking about? What happened yesterday? Did I say something when you came into my room? Did I told you something personal when I called you?! Oh my god...¨
Were you lying?... He froze for a moment, the flowers fell from his hands, and he just started walking away. Is this true? You don't remember?
It feels like the beginning when you both grew apart, it's really hard to adapt at what's going on inside his head. Was yesterday an accident? Does he really loves you? Do you love him?
Why does this feels like a goodbye?

hey i'm so sorry i know you've linked to it probably a million times but i can't find it: can i have the link to your hawkeye reading list pleaseee and thank you 🥳
Hi Hi!! Please never apologize for asking I have the most unorganized blog in all hawkeye accounts LMFAOOO so not being able to find recs in here is understandable
Im assuming you mean Clint, but just in case not I will add Kate's in at the end!
So First of course is this icon's first appearance in
Tales of Suspense #57 (1964) - (he also shows up a few more times in tales of suspense but obviously this is the most important one!)
The Avengers #16 (1965) is when he joins and becomes our favorite little Avenging Archer (forewarning he is a little shit here. His favroite pass time in the beginning is driving Steve up a wall. I personally find this dynamic very funny but some dont)
He is with the Avengers for a really long time. Like more than 150+ comics(he isn't Hawkeye the whole time though as he does have a little bit I believe that starts in Avengers #63-#98 where he is Goliath. He comes back to us as Hawkeye in Avenger #99)
Hawkeye (1983) is his first solo ever! It's a mini series but its one of my personal favroites!
West Coast Avengers (1984)- this is where we get to see him take lead in a brand new team in California!
The West Coast Avengers (1985)- this is just a contitnuation of the previous mentioned!
Solo Avengers (1987)- We find out more tea about Clint's life prior to avenging here
He stays with the West Coast Avengers for a hot minute before we get his second solo
Hawkeye (1994) he's reaaaaal tough guy big feelings in this one
then he shows up in Avengers again in 1995 (yeah I know but hey he is the avenging archer so that's where youre gonna find him the most) He even gets a new lil fit and everything (he looks like he belongs in a boyband and I love it)
Thunderbolts (1998) is where Clint shows up ( in 2001 I believe) and takes over the team! He essentially helps try to guide them into being a good hero team and if I remember correctly I think its either #74-#75 where he leaves the Thunderbolts (I can't remember exactly I'm sorry)
Hawkeye (2003)- a third solo!!! look at our little guy go!!!
Then he... well he dies LMFAOOO in Avengers (2004) and the Clint Barton you knew and love is about to change forever
The New Avengers #26 (2006) if i remember correctly and it's.. well it's a sad one and he isn't the lovely Hawkeye when he comes back either. This is where Clint becomes Ronin, which is a rather dark time for Clint.
Secret Invasion (2008) This is also sad im sorry LMFAOOO Clint's morals are tested often as Ronin
The New Avengers (2009) Again he is ronin here so if youre looking for Clint just as Hawkeye he isn't here but don't worry he is back as Hawkeye soon enough
New Avengers: The Reunion (2009) whooooo's he getting a reunon with ;)
Hawkeye & Mockingbird (2010) guess what, that's who he got a reunion with I LOVE THIS COMIC
Widowmaker (2010) is basically a continue on of ^ with Nat involved
Avengers: Solo (2011) CLINT!!!! AS!!! HAWKEYE!!! Doin Hawkeye shit
Hawkeye: Blindspot (2011) do you like family angst? Good. Here. Have the family angst.
There is an event going on around this time called Fear Itself that he is involved in and also he is in Secret Avengers (2012) starting #21 or #22 where he becomes the leader.
Hawkeye (2012) We all know and love this bad boy. You could fit so many tears into it.
Secret Avengers (2013) again??? yes again.
Secret Avengers (2014) haha yeah again
Hawkeye Vs Deadpool (2014) it's fun! it's cute! Wade makes me laugh and he has a soft spot for the Hawkeyes
All-New Hawkeye (2015) there is some retconning done here
I don't wanna talk about Civil War II (2016) it makes me really sad LMFAOOO but yes he is in it and it should be read because well.. he makes a BIGGGGGG choice here that I feel has def echoed in his characterization since and has caused lots of misleading beliefs about Clint
Occupy Avengers (2016) Woooooooh I like this one it's fun
Secret Empire (2017) He is in it if I remember correctly but I grouch about this whole concept because I thought it was stupid. It gives the same energy as "What if Superman was evil" and I'm sure as a DC fan you know how annoying that concept is.
Generations: Hawkeye(2017) This is soooo cute I love this one. Kate meets a younger Clint in it and they run around together
Tales of Suspense #101 (2018) This will never not make me laugh. Him and Bucky working together is always funny
He is also involved in Kate's Hawkeye run during this time but I've got that on her list
West Coast Avengers (2018) I liked this. I love when Kate and Clint work together and I liked seeing the nods to the original WCA
Hawkeye: Freefall (2020) crying puking throwing up it's so good and fun until it's not fun anymore
Black Widow (2020) Not my favroite run for Nat... feels like the tone is off but he is in it
Thunderbolts (2022) I liked this...would have been super cool if Marvel had kept it as a continuing run because I feel like it didn't get to finish it's story. I'm still sour about it.
NOW obviously this is not everything ever he has ever been in and I'm certainly not perfect enough to have read every. single. appearance. So please forgive me if I missed something important cause sometimes my brain is not so greeat with memory.
x Kate Reading List!

It is an on going puzzle for me to find romantic matches for the Rogues and I decided to look at all the female characters that DC has. DC has in total about 3000 characters. So you can imagine what it was like sifting through most of it. One of my problems that I was having was that I wasn’t quite sure what I was looking for. Romance is tough and it’s harder when you’re trying to fit characters together.
Usually when I watch a show. I can figure out the love interest in a couple of episodes but I imagine the writers have something to do with that.
Writing a romantic story is an entirely different thing and should be a neat experience for me. The problem I’m having is the 2 chosen characters Patty Spivot & Angela Margolin. There side characters that work with Barry so finding the goods on them would be immensely difficult. So I was wondering if you’d be interested in making a profile on them for me.😅
As well as pointing me in the right direction for the comics that showcase their personalities best. Please.🥺
Sure thing, though Angela was a Wally West-era character, not one of Barry's (she basically replaced him when he left). She didn't appear for very long, so I think Kelson Vibber's biography of her has everything you need, including a list of notable appearances. Plus, here's her bio from Flash Secret Files #2 so you don't have to look for it.
Kelson also has a biography + issue list for Patty which you might find interesting, though it hasn't been updated in a while and doesn't cover her modern history. So I'll give a run-down of what Patty's done since about 2010.
She first began appearing again in Flash: Rebirth #2, as part of a retconned flashback to Barry's early days. It was a minor appearance, but introduced her to a modern audience. In Flash v3 #1, we were told that she'd left Central City to work in Blue Valley because she'd gotten tired of David Singh's attitude and all the big city murders. In Flash v3 #9, Barry called her to help with a murder case, and despite Forrest's pessimism that she wouldn't come back, she returned in #10 and had a fond reunion with Barry. She insisted she wouldn't help because she was tired of murders, but got pulled into it nonetheless, especially because there was a child involved (spoiler alert: the child was Eobard). She managed to crack the case with her forensic skills, and acknowledged to herself that she left Central City due to her unresolved feelings for Barry (who was married), but then Eobard re-aged himself and tried to kill her. She was rescued, but Barry tried to convince her to stay in Central City and she confessed her feelings and said that's why she had to leave; he said they'd always be friends and she agreed to think about staying.
Then Flashpoint happened, and in that altered timeline she became Hot Pursuit after the murder of the first HP. She stated that she did in fact reluctantly return to the job in Central City, but the Hot Pursuit gig called to her and then she found herself in Flashpoint with memories of the original timeline. She was killed while helping Bart Allen, but then Flashpoint ended and the timeline was reset with the New 52.
The New 52 really bums me out, so I'll be brief with it. She and Barry had just started dating when Flash v4 #1 began and didn't know he was the Flash, and she blamed the Flash for Barry's 'death' after he fell into a wormhole. Stuff happened and Barry didn't tell her about his secret identity, but she found out accidentally in the midst of a battle and was okay with it -- she stood by Barry and they continued dating even though he hadn't been honest with her.
But eventually Barry was replaced by a meaner version of himself from the future, and he horrified Patty with his violence. She convinced him to be better and find a less murdery way to stop a villain, which he did, but she was decidedly unimpressed by his claims/bragging that he stopped a guy without killing him, and she told him she never wanted to see him again. The present-day version of Barry returned, but the two of them broke up off-panel anyway, and she hasn't been seen since. It was pretty abrupt.
Basically, Patty's modern self -- she had a lot less characterization in the Bronze Age because that was the way of comics in those days -- is that she's kind and caring above all else, and that tends to override her better judgment at times. She didn't want to return to Central City and its violence, but did so anyway because she cared about others, especially a vulnerable kid. She stuck with Barry when he needed her despite his lack of honesty because she loved him and knew he needed her. And she became Hot Pursuit and gave her life to help Bart because she was brave and determined and maybe was more of an action junkie than she might admit to herself. I guess you can extrapolate from that, leaving aside the weak plot decision to have her break up with Barry off-panel. I think the new writer on the book wanted to go in a different direction, but that was a crappy way to do it.
Flash: Rebirth #2 Flash v3 #10-12 Flashpoint: Kid Flash Lost #1-2 Flash v4 #1-40, plus annuals 1-3

You know what is funny? I wouldn't really describe the loose flippy skater skirts or ruffle skirts like the popflex one as being skirts that fit someone "like skin". But the tight, short, body con skirts that were in fashion around, say . . . 2013? Now those I would absolutely describe that way, and Taylor just so happened to be really into them.
Getting close to pre-Kaylor territory here, but what if imgonnagetyouback is not a revenge / reunion story after an epic break-up, but more . . . "the one who got away, and won't get away again". What if the first half of the song is from the pov of 2013, Wildest Dreams era Taylor who felt like love was doomed and loving her would probably wreck the other person's life . . . and then from "push the reset button" we see how that kind of played out, but mostly only in the form of PR games. Because the reality is "you were never not mine".
(I can't people still insist there was a break up. Come on, guys. She can't even sing about it with a straight face 😂 She's sneaking the truth in right under your nose!)
yeah well you know me, i’ve thought about this a little bit myself, and i think a lot can be finessed about that time period, so you’re bringing up an interesting thought for sure.. and i agree the line juxtaposed with the popflex skirt felt like an immediate puzzle to me 😆 as for your timeframe, incidentally when i first heard the song i couldn’t help but think about this mid 2013 look july 30th to be exact). while not a pastel lilac nor a skirt, it was quite bodycon. like much of her victoria’s secret attire 😌 i definitely get what you’re saying about the early 2010’s being a short skirt that fits you like skin era
and when taylor played the imgonnagetyouback and dress mashup, it did make me think about the similarities between the lines “only bought this dress” and “you knew the price going in” and while the latter is also a play on the idea that there is a metaphorical price to pay for dating taylor or for taylor to do certain things with her life, i also think the sort of basic… fashion… buying fashion.. wearing clothes.. theming is so classically kaylor. like early stage kaylor songs with lyrics like “you try on calling me baby like trying on clothes” etc. and my mind wandered further and it made me think about the lilac-y wings behind taylor during her dress performances at rep tour, yeah 😌
actually it had me thinking about bodycon fashion in general and how it keeps coming back. like before it’s moment as the business casual club wear that early 2010’s millennials knew and loved, it was popularized in the early 90’s.
that sort of come-back-stronger-than-a-90s-trend, come-back-every-time energy that feels so central to the kaylor story.

Captain America v2 (1997) #12
Chris Claremont:

2000’s (Mark Waid):
Fantastic Four #499 (numbered as #70) & #500 (start of the “Unthinkable” arc, which shows Victor in a bad light but is worth it for the dynamic and for how Reed is written)

Fantastic Four #507 (Reed builds a pocket dimension to imprison just himself and Victor, it’s very intense honestly)

which bobbi morse comic runs r ur fave? :-)
I’m not going to claim to be The authority on Bobbi or anything (that would be @ootcs, who probably has an infinitely better list), I started doing a chronological completionist read of Bobbi’s 616 appearances a while back that I need to get back to, but she’s super fun even in the 70s when she’s stuck in some boring Ka-Zar comics.
The unfortunate thing about Bobbi is that she only has the one solo run (which has problems despite the fact that the first few issues are solid), and a lot of her stories are tied to Clint. Part of why I'm always complaining about Bobbi being excluded from modern comics is because we've already lost so much time with her; she was dead for 15 years of publication time.
(I told myself I was going to make a neat little list but I can't stop myself from making my little comments on everything.)
New Avengers: The Reunion, Hawkeye & Mockingbird, Widowmaker: These three series were all made by the same creative team, McCann/Lopez, and they were also my first introduction to comics altogether. They're very focused on her and Clint's 616 history, but I don't remember having any problems understanding it? Bobbi is dealing with a lot of trauma here, but she starts up her own spy agency and her costume is perfect. Also Lopez draws the buffest Bobbi, which is wild because this is all before she gets the supersoldier serum. They also have a D-story in a one-shot called Enter the Heroic Age, that is like peak Clint/Bobbi battle couple dynamics. (I'm listing these first because it was my entry point but everything after this is chronological).
Hawkeye vol.1: this is secretly Bobbi's solo. I love her here and I love Gruenwald's decision to bring her into Clint's life. She's fun and impulsive in her own way and just an all-around proactive character, whether that's taking down this sketchy security firm or macking on Clint ten minutes after her apartment exploded.
West Coast Avengers vol. 1: I love Bobbi's dynamic on teams, I wish we saw more of it in modern comics. Sure, Clint's the official leader but Bobbi truly understands how to actually support the members of the team off the field. Love whenever she and Greer are together. It’s four issues and it’s just good plain superhero fun. We’re getting the gang together! Whacky disguises and hijinks abound! The literal second line on the first page is Bobbi making cunnilingus innuendo!
West Coast Avengers vol. 2: So the first 30 or so issues are pretty similar to that first mini, then...Well, I'd have to devote like 1000+ words to parsing my thoughts on everything else, but suffice it to say I'm a fan of what Bobbi did and you should stop reading around #37 if you don't want to see all of the shit that Clint puts her through. Then the comic gets progressively worse until she dies (though there are a few issues where she and Greer form a splinter team with Marc, those are fun).
New Avengers (2010): Yeah it's Bendis but Bobbi's back! Can't remember which issue it is that introduces her.
Unstoppable Wasp: We get more of a focus on Bobbi as a biologist and we get to see her as a mentor. Her dynamic with Jan is fun <3
Honestly, I'm still missing a ton of her modern stuff because I just haven't read many modern comics in general. I read anything with her in it as it comes out but I still need to go back and read a lot of 2012-2020 stuff. I need to finish Silk (2016) still, but she's good in what I've read. Secret Empire is a terrible event but she has a pretty decent role in that and gets to interact with characters she rarely gets to be around, like Hercules, which is a nice change of pace.

The thing that annoys me most about the 1D fans in general is that they talk about little incidents from 12-13 years back as if it has a lot of relevance to the present. I don’t remember what was my state of mind 12 years back if someone asked me today. My priorities in life are very different from what they were then. The 1D fans consume content from years back and seem to fixate on it. They run to your blog to ask questions about interviews that happened 13 years back as if it was from yesterday. They almost seem stuck in a time warp, where Louis is still supposed to dress like he did when he was a teenager, Harry is this wide eyed 16 year old boy who has a bakery job waiting for him while Zayn is a brown guy who doesn’t display enough gratitude for the opportunities he has been given. They keep waiting for these guys to sit together on a sofa which doesn’t have room for all of them and answer questions about who their celebrity crush is.
I don’t know how you have the patience to engage with their discourse but it’s like they are stuck in reverse. Liam Payne is dead but instead of mourning the musician he was or the life he didn’t get to live, the tears are for the reunion that they will not get. I know we all blame the music industry but the fans also form part of the equation. The fans are after a pound of flesh, hence that’s what they are being served by the media, by Simon Cowell, by people like Ben Winston.
Fans can relate to One Direction’s prime era of fun and adventure. Most fans have experienced that first break from parents to do something naughty, escape from their childhood, discover sex, fall in love and have their first crush, go through the flush of all those rapidly changing, thrilling emotions.
2024 1D fans in their late teens and early twenties who “fall into the rabbit hole” go through the same 1D infatuation we’ve all done. 1D was exciting but safe. They all seemed to be having loads of fun. A secret romance in the band is exciting! They have charming accents! They were pretty whether they were happy or sad.
People feel nostalgic. Maybe they regret not having lived it in real time— because it was really, really fun in real time. If we all had a time machine to relive a happy moment in our teenage years, we’d all do it.
Your ask touches on the responsibility of fans to support the present. You’re right— it’s not just young fans who dwell on 1D’s past, although most of the stuff I see seems to come from this late teen-early 20’s age bracket. It’s very weird / creepy to me that older and OG fans want to keep the 1D guys caged in their 2014 or worse 2010 selves. I see adults carrying 1D dolls or wearing a 2014 Narry shirt (to Louis’ FITF concert at Red Rocks) and it feels icky. I see people desperate to know that a 2014 “receipt” was never debunked, is un-debunkable because the head canon is built on a fantasy anyway. It’s disturbing to imagine someone digging up my distant past to prove my present, especially if it’s about my personal / sexual life.
It’s complicated, because clearly Louis has trouble letting go of the past, and he encourages it. He’s included at least one 1D cover in every FITF concert. In his festival playlists of 14 songs, he included 3 One Direction songs. He can’t let go. How are fans supposed to?
At least Zayn didn’t sing any One Direction songs. Good for him.

MOVIES I WATCHED THIS WEEK #201:
The best films of the week: 'A taxi driver', 'Sudden fear', 'Sharper', 'The eloquent peasant', 'Rocks in my pockets', 'If anything happens I love you', 'Windy day', 'Late autumn', 'The big wait'.
2 BY KOREAN DIRECTOR JANG HOON, BOTH WITH STAR SONG KANG-HO:
🍿 A TAXI DRIVER (2017), my first by director Jang Hoon, is one the five best Korean films I've ever seen. What style! What a balance of emotional complexity, technical proficiency and political subtext! It's based on true events which happened during a perilous time in South Korean history. Song Kang-ho (The father in 'Paradise') is a street-smart taxi driver, who takes a German journalist into Gwangju and witnesses with him the student uprising and massacre that occurred there after the 1980 Coup d'état. Maybe even better than Scorsese's 'Taxi Driver'?... 10/10.
🍿 Jang Hoon directed only 4 features, and all were huge money makers in Korea. But his 2010 SECRET REUNION disappointed me greatly. It was just a standard police action film revolving around a North Korean sleeper cell of trained assassins, and it was unremarkable. 2/10.
🍿
"Who are you? Another relative? You have broken 18 dicks! I'll kill you, all gorillas, all policemen and all the Dutch"
THE SUNDAY WOMAN is an unusual Italian comedy about a murder investigation. An eccentric architect is bashed on the head with a large stone phallus, and the clueless police force is scrambling to solve the high-society death.
It's definitely worth watching for the star power of "Commissioner" Marcello Mastroianni (with his sexy baritone voice), Jean-Louis Trintignant as a secret gay patrician and Jacqueline Bisset as the radiant, bored wife of a wealthy businessman. Also for the unmistakable score by Ennio Morricone's.
The director's ambiguous style makes the confusing 'Chinatown'-like plot even more convoluted. It's also wonderful to see the streets of Turin as they were in 1975. 7/10.
🍿
2 OF DIRECTOR DAVID MILLER'S (??) BEST FILMS:
🍿 How come I never even heard of the stylish, smashing Noir thriller SUDDEN FEAR from 1952?? Milf'ish Joan Crawford is a rich and successful San Francisco playwright, who falls for younger actor Jack Palance, while he schemes to murder her for her inheritance. He looks here like one of the greatest film villains, with his chiseled jaw and piercing eyes, and his side-lover Gloria Grahame is just gorgeous. (Interesting side note: Crawford mentions that there were 2,174,000,000 people in the world at that time. Mmmm...) 9/10.
🍿 "If it didn't take men to make babies, I wouldn't have anything to do with any of you..."
LONELY ARE THE BRAVE is a 1962 new revisionist Western with Kirk Douglas as the "last" old-fashioned cowboy, a rugged individual and independently free. He's a 'Rebel without a cause', a freewheelin' ranch hand who refuses to join the contemporary society of mortgages and driving licenses. Unfortunately, he's now roaming a modern New Mexico which is filled with highways, Jeeps and helicopters. It's obvious that it's going to end up badly. Still, I did not expect the symbolism of his horse getting hit in a rainstorm by a long-hauling truck carrying toilets. (and chauffeured by Archie Bunker!). With young wife-of-a friend Gena Rowlands.
🍿
HEAVY TRIP, (2018), a sweet comedy from Finland about 'Impaled Rektum', a Heavy Metal band from a small rural town which after 12 years of practicing, still have never played a live gig. I have absolutely zero interest in "symphonic post-apocalyptic reindeer-grinding Christ-abusing extreme war pagan fenno-scandian metal" or any other kind, but this was highly entertaining. Its mood reminded me of "Miss little sunshine", even though story wise the two had no connection whatsoever. 7/10.
🍿
THE GETAWAY, Sam Peckinpah's suspenseful action-thriller of a Texas bank heist and Lovers on the run. Starring real-life, super-cool married couple Steve McQueen and Ali MacGraw. Also co-starring both "Virgil Sollozzo" and "Al Nery" (which makes sense as this too was filmed in 1972), as well as Silm Pickens.
Also with Quincy Jones' distinct jazzy score, highlighted by Toots Thielemans' mournful harmonica sound. In Peckinpah's usual misogynistic manner, there are multiple incidents of guys slapping women around, including the otherwise-loving McQueen. Also, the famous bad guy who kidnap a meek husband and his naughty wife, and then humiliates him by sleeping with the wife in front of him. I've seen a similar story multiple other times, but can't remember where. Re-watch♻️. 8/10.
RIP, Quincy Jones!
🍿
THE ELOQUENT PEASANT (1969) is the most unusual film I saw this week. It's an Egyptian morality tale based on a 4,000 year old story from the 'Middle Kingdom' of Egypt. A poor peasant is robbed by a noble man of all his possessions, and he's seeking justice from a Pharaoh, by applying flowery arguments to make his case. His language skills are so appreciated by the ruler, that he delays his verdict, just so he can hear him speak longer. It's composed in the most beautiful Technicolor brushes, and has a striking, radiant look. It was restored and preserved by Martin Scorsese's 'World Cinema Foundation' (together with the director's 'The Night of Counting the Years' which is next on my list).
🍿
ANYTHING FOR HER (2008) is a French thriller by a first time director. Diane Kruger and her husband are an ordinary couple with a kid, when she is suddenly arrested for a murder she didn't commit, but is wrongly convicted for it and is sentenced to 20 years in prison. The first two acts are okay, but unremarkable. The last suspenseful 30 minutes are dynamite!
🍿
FILMS WITH 100% SCORE ON ROTTEN TOMATOES X 2:
🍿 ROCKS IN MY POCKETS (2014), "A funny film about depression", is the most amazing adult animation feature from Latvia I've ever seen! I simply cannot understand how come there are original and amazing masterpieces like this out in the world which are completely off the radar. For. ex., it was submitted by Latvia as their official entry for the 87th Academy Award, but was not even nominated.
The trailer is all one needs to see before deciding if the movie is right for them. 💯 score on Rotten Tomatoes. 10/10! [*Female Director*]
🍿 Re-watch ♻️: IF ANYTHING HAPPENS I LOVE YOU won the Oscars in 2020. A married couple is wordlessly grieving the death of their 12 year old daughter [in a school shooting]. Inspired by (and reminiscent of) the Dutch 'Father and daughter' which also won the Oscars (in 2000). 💯 score on Rotten Tomatoes. It's Devastatingly Sad.
🍿
Re-watch of the clever thriller SHARPER. An excellent long-com game, equal to the best of the 'Grifters' genre (in spite of the final, improbable twist). With an exceptional score that includes both Talking Heads and Cole Porter at the right moments. 9/10. ♻️.
🍿
PUT OUR MÄRTA FIRST OR AS LUCK WILL HAVE IT is a traditional Swedish comedy from 1945. I watched it only because I was led to believe that it was some "obscure science-fiction comedy about drag queens", but it wasn't. It's obscure all right. But the sci-fi element was limited to a 2006 opening scene, with an old man telling his granddaughter the story about a hero from 1945, and the rest of the movie is just a flashback. The exact cross dressing plot was later used better on 'Some like it hot': 2 unemployed musicians can only get a job with a traveling women's band, so one of them has to dress up as a woman. [it even has some important scenes on a train, just like Wilder's!]. Unsurprisingly it morphs into a straight-up feminist message film, a-la-Tootsie, with a call for equal rights and free love. But it is told in a very dated, low-brow, broad comedic style. The director, Hasse Ekman, was apparently the most acclaimed Swedish director after Sjöström and before Bergman. 2/10.
🍿
WHO KILLED JAZZ (Documentary, 2021) is a skillfully-made and impressionistic analysis of the economics of the live jazz music scene. The genre as a whole still flourishes, but the musicians themselves cannot make a living in it. Recommended.
🍿
ITALIAN POETIC REALIST VITTORIO DE SETA IN 1955 X 3:
🍿 ISLANDS OF FIRE, a wordless natural documentation of fishermen and villagers on the island of Stromboli during a volcanic eruption in 1954. He did 10 ethnographic shorts like this during this time.
🍿 THE AGE OF SWORDFISH, another awesome story of Sicilian fishermen spear-fishing a large swordfish, a custom that disappeared around that time. 8/10.
🍿 PEASANTS OF THE SEA is even more brutal; A fleet of boats capture a large school of Tuna, and kill them all in an orgy of blood and guts. CW. 9/10. De Seta was really talented.
🍿
“Ouch-e-megouch!"
MAGIC TOWN (1947) was the last movie I anxiously watched the night before the election, while being depressed by opposing polls predicting the winner. It was recommended because city slicker James Stewart played a public opinion pollster (for time on film) who moved into Small Town USA, believing that there he can find a perfect reflection of the country as a whole. But this Frank Capra-lite was terrible all around, with a lame-ass romance, and reactionary politics, including the outlandish proposition in one of the polls that "79% favor a woman for president" [Screenshot Above]. Ridiculous! 1/10.
🍿
A BUNCH OF SHORTS:
🍿 BORED ON EDUCATION (1936), my first 'Our gang' episode, and the only one (Out of 220) to win an Oscar. The series was notable for featuring black & white children acting as equals during the Jim Crow era. I didn't realize that the series lasted for 22 years, and employed many sets of kids replacing others who grew out of their roles.
🍿 WINDY DAY (1968) was an adorable animation about two cute little sisters who chatter over each other's as they play and playact, in the cutest, most natural voices. 9/10.
🍿 GOD OF LOVE won the Oscars in 2010. It's a quirky independent comedy in a French New Wave style. A goofy-looking, young Brooklynite lounge singer receives an anonymous box of 'Love Darts' and becomes a local Cupid. Cute. 7/10.
🍿 LATE AFTERNOON (2017) a tender Oscar-nominated Irish story about an old woman who doesn't remember much of anything anymore. 10/10. [*Female Director*]
🍿 In LUCKY FISH (2022), two Asian-American girls exchange glances across the tables at a Chinese restaurant, and then meet by the magical gold fish tank to kiss. Pretty adolescent and not very deep. [*Female Director*]
🍿 PORTRAIT OF GOD (2022), a short horror story about a religious girl who prepares a presentation about a painting of God. Everything I don't like about the Horror genre is here: The eerie soundtrack, the mystical questions that remain unanswerable, the scary jump-cuts, the implied danger, the ambiguous undertone of evil. It's all so unnecessary. 1/10.
🍿 THE BIG WAIT (2023) is a lovely Australian documentary about a couple who lives alone in the middle of nowhere, and maintains a 6-cabin B&B in pristine condition, for visitors who hardly ever come there. 8/10.
🍿 MNEMONADE, a brand-new A.I.-generated short about the Sands of Time and an old woman with dementia. It's not quiet yet there, but as I said a year ago here, I'm sure that within a year, two max, we'll start seeing 'Good' A.I. features, and that in 2025, I'll be viewing some of them. (Via).

hey, I don’t know if you’re still about but I just wanted to say thank you for the masterpost. I’m a Brit so I’ve always liked blur but very recently I started to get more into them and things must have really been buried because I stumbled upon this by accident and to say I’m disappointed is an understatement !! I’ve grown up in fandoms so I’ve gotten better in recent years at putting a distance with me and any artist who’s music I like but there were so many things about Damon specifically I admired; his anti war stance, his support of Palestine, him /seemingly/ coming to the defensive of female fans, his thoughts on our political system etc but at the end of the day he ended up being a typical yt man who covers up for his friend… I’m gutted but I appreciate the work you’ve done and I hope you can find/have found some peace with it.
Thank you for the kind words, and I'm glad you found this post. And yeah, it's been pretty buried - I noticed when people would ask about it on social media people would say allegations were fake and people would take them at their word instead of looking into it, which is unfortunate. It was an open secret in the early 2010's online - and I've noticed some fans from that time message to say oh yeah I remember that. Trouble was until recently, different victims didn't talk to each other and when we finally did it was like, wow this happening a lot to young fans. I lost a huge majority of fandom friends over speaking up but I couldn't make excuses for him anymore knowing he'd been doing it for ten years, well after I thought he'd stopped (was less obvious on his twt and forums).
And yeah, Damon. :( It's been difficult for me because Damon was like the replacement for Graham for me, like, he seems like he has a better head on.. I dunno, I think he does, but, the reunion really upset me. Alex and Dave being asses was like, shrug, but Damon (and the breakup) was upsetting. I still like his music, but I don't follow every bit of news anymore like I did. :/ Also, I feel the same way now with ignorance is bliss mentality with any favs.

Family Reunion
[August 25th 2010]
Isabelle opened her eyes, squinting them as she tried to make out the room around her which was illuminated just by the dim light of her night-light. A loud thump came from outside the tiny house, making her jump.
She put on her slippers and quietly exited the room, darkness surrounding her. She held in a breath as she closed the door behind her, lightly tracing the little stickers she had put on it. They were butterflies. Isabelle loved butterflies, even if she preferred ladybugs. But there weren't any stickers with ladybugs when she hung them. Butterflies were alright.
A muffled sound came from outside the front door, and Isabelle would think it was from her mother if she wasn’t currently collapsed on the sofa in front of her, a bottle of beer next to her and a lot of bright orange little cylinder shaped boxes on the dirty table. She wondered if her mom felt better after taking those medicines. She hoped so, even if deep down she knew that no medicine could cure what she had.
Another sound made Isabelle jump as she came closer to the door. She pushed a chair against the door and climbed on it to look out the window. The street lights stopped working a few months ago, but no one had come to fix them yet.
She hoped that they fixed before winter fell, because then it would always be dark and Isabelle liked seeing where she was going without fearing to fall in a ditch and break her neck. She giggled. Her mom would probably scold her for joking about something like that, but she knew that her uncle would find it amusing. Maybe even her dad.
Near the barbed wire fence around the house stood a girl with black hair and a red hoodie. Isabelle recognized her, it was Naomi Guerrero, a girl a few years older than her who lived three houses down from hers.
Her parents owned the liquor store near the school and her mom was always pregnant. Merle often joked about how her parents were like rabbits, but Isabelle never understood what it ment because they didn’t look like any kind of rodent at all.
Naomi even babysat her a few times when Isabelle was still a little girl and couldn’t handle herself for a few days. Her mom always pinched her on the cheeks when she passed in front of the store, and she even said that she would give her Naomi’s red sweater once she had grown out of it. Isabelle couldn’t wait. That sweater was really sick.
But Naomi also had her problems, and sometimes she told them to Isabelle when she came to her house. She had a super secret boyfriend who drank beer and drove a truck just like her daddy, which Naomi thought was cool. Isabelle just found it gross, because she didn’t like the smell of beer. But Naomi must really like it because she wanted to go live with him.
Maybe she got in a fight with him, that must be why she was standing outside in the middle of the night.
Isabelle opened the door before quietly closing it behind her, leaving a tiny little crack from when she needed to go back inside. “Naomi, what are ya doin’ here?” Isabelle whispered as she got closer to the girl, who was still standing right in front of the fence, “Naomi.” She called out again, this time louder.
The girl raised her head, but when her eyes met the girl's, Isabelle only felt panic. Naomi’s eyes, once a sweet auburn color, were now milky white, her dull gaze settling on the young girl in front of her.
Then she growled. Yes, she growled. Isabelle never heard someone growl like that before, only mister Willson’s dogs.
“Naomi, are you okay?" Isabelle's voice quivered. She didn’t know why she felt like crying, she wasn’t a little baby anymore. She just had this awful feeling in her stomach, like butterflies. But not the butterflies on her door, more like moths eating you from the inside.
Naomi raised her hands and clenched and unclenched her fingers, almost like she wanted to grab Isabelle. The girl noticed the blue nail polish on her nails, the same she had put on Isabelle many times before. Isabelle always chewed it off because she was always biting her nails when she was anxious, and she was often anxious.
Maybe Naomi wasn’t as anxious as her, because her nails were still blue. But there was also a dark crimson color on her fingers. Was it blood? Was Naomi hurt? Isabelle didn’t know what she was supposed to do in case Naomi was hurt. Her medical experience was reduced to Merle saying that crying is for pussies when she scratched her knees and her mom’s boyfriend saying that she couldn’t show anyone the bruises he had just given her.
She was stupid, she knew that, she didn’t even know what to do if her friend was hurt. What a stupid girl she was.
“I’m gonna call mama, okay?” Isabelle asked, but the only response was an even louder groan. Great, now even Naomi was angry at her.
A bullet went through Naomi’s head, making her collapse on the floor and a bruised Steve stood on the other side of the road. He was yelling at her about something, but all Isabelle could focus on was how Naomi’s sweater was getting even more red, her sticky blood absorbed by the soft material.
Isabelle wasn’t sure she wanted that sweater anymore.
The girl shot up from her slumber, beads of sweat crowning her face. It was just a dream, just a stupid dream, she repeated to herself as her eyes took notice of the surroundings. They were in the middle of the woods, but the smell of burnt flesh was still there.
Memories started to float in as her eyes landed on the figure next to her, relaxing a bit. “For how long was I out?” She asked Carl as he raised his eyes to look at her.
“Just a few minutes, but you scared us to death.” He shrugged, “We are waiting for my dad and others from our group who were separated from us before the explosion.” He explained.
Isabelle just hummed as she sat down next to him, a comfortable silence falling on the two of them as they watched the adults speak in hushed tones. She always hated when people did this, speaking with their eyes or behind a hand. She felt like they were judging her.
Her mom always called her silly for thinking that. She missed her, if only she was there then she could cry in her arms. But she isn’t with her, and Isabelle refused to cry in front of strangers. So she brought her knees up to her chest and hid her face, trying to shut out the whispers around her.
“Welcome back soldier.” A deep voice called from in front of her. Isabelle raised her head to acknowledge the red haired man. “What you did back there was impressive.” He was probably talking about how she killed that man. She didn’t feel like it was impressive. “Thank you sir.” She murmured.
The man seemed to appreciate the courtesy title because she could see a smirk under his big red mustache. Most people did, especially back at home.
“Your folks around here?” He questions, making the girl shake her head, “I was hoping my mom would be at Terminus, but I imagine that it’s good that she wasn’t.”
This time the man nodded, “We are moving as soon as we find the others. I want to put as much distance as we can between us and those fuckers.” He announced before returning to the woman with pigtails and the goofy looking man.
Silence fell again as Isabelle alternated her attention from the group in front of her and the boy next to her. Her head was still throbbing, and she was sure that she had some sort of concussion because her ears kept ringing.
“Are you worried for your dad?” She asked as she fidgeted with her sleeve.
Carl shook his head, “My dad is a fighter, I know he’s alive.” He said and his eyes shone as he talked about his father with such an admiration that Isabelle for a second almost felt envious.
She never had the same fondness for her old man. Maybe she had once, but now it was all forgotten and buried under all the resentment that she felt. But she still loved him, and she cursed herself for that, because she knew he didn’t care.
“They are here!” Maggie shouted before she ran towards an asian boy emerging from the woods, stopping Isabelle from sinking deeper in her thoughts. Carl immediately got up, running towards a bearded man.
Isabelle sighed as she tiredly got up, wiping her dirty hands on her already stained jeans. She would love to take a shower and put on some other clothes, but deep down she knew that they couldn’t afford such comfort. Maybe there was a river or something around there, she was in desperate need of wiping off the dried blood on her skin.
Isabelle reached the people of the group who stayed behind as they watched the others reunite. She wondered what their stories were. Did they know each other before the world fell or did they find each other after? Her mom said that they couldn’t trust strangers because you never know what they are capable of, especially in times like this. Did they follow the same rule? They seemed pretty wary about her. Maybe it was because she was covered in blood and had passed out in front of them.
She watched the men Carl talked about slowly come towards them. The first one was who Isabelle assumed to be Carl’s father, a man with a big beard and blood smeared across his face. Carl was speaking really fast to him while he kept his hand on his son’s shoulder, smiling as he nodded. Envy stung the girl’s heart again, but she was still glad Carl’s father was okay.
Then another man followed, still hugging who assumed was his girlfriend. Maggie had said her name when they were running, something like Sammy maybe? Or Sarah, Isabelle couldn’t really remember. Her features were stone cold back in the train car, but now she looked happy. Isabelle felt happy for her.
After them came Maggie with an asian boy, and she was crying. The boy looked young, much younger than the other two men. She felt bad for both him and Maggie, they were really young after all. People tend to forget that not everyone in the apocalypse is a grown man.
“Where is-” The woman whose name Isabelle learned to be Michonne started to ask, but she got cut off by Carl’s dad, who pointed at the woods they had previously emerged from, “They are coming.” He answered as he hugged her too. They looked like a real family, not just some people who met while the dead roamed on the Earth. Carl’s eyes found hers and he smiled at her. Isabelle tried to shoot him a smile back, but she was pretty sure it came out as a grimace. She didn’t feel like smiling. She was happy of course, but she still didn’t feel like smiling.
Another man came out from the woods, but he was alone. No one ran towards him, Isabelle thought as the man kept his head low, greasy long hair hiding his face. Her dad always said that long hair was for scumbags. She wondered if that man was a scumbag.
No one was paying attention to him, all too busy to reconcile with their loved ones, so Isabelle didn’t feel the need to look away. Instead she kept her eyes fixed on the man, who kept looking behind to yell at something still in the woods. Was he nuts or was there still someone there?
“Daryl we don’t have all day, c’mon!” Carl’s dad yelled, the name almost making Isabelle flinch. She looked down at her shoes for a moment, afraid that tears might spill from her eyes. She was both relieved and sad when they didn’t. His name didn’t have much of an effect on her anymore.
She looked up at the man again, his face now visible. his dark hair still provided a curtain against his bruised up face, a black eye forming on his left side. He was covered in dirt and sweat and a light beard covered his chin and upper lip, but still Isabelle sucked in a breath. His blue eyes met hers and she felt like crying. They were blue like hers. Blue like her dad’s eyes were.
She felt like she was almost going to faint as her legs moved on her own running towards Daryl Dixon as his eyes widened in surprise.
“Daddy!” She yelled as he ran towards her, wrapping his arms around her so tight she thought she was going to crush and picking her up, tears wetting her shoulder as she buried her head in the crook of his neck.
Daryl’s body kept shaking as he held her closer, afraid that if he let go she would disappear. She was alive, his baby was alive.
“I thought-” Isabelle’s voice quivered as she sobbed.
“Me too baby, me too.” The man nodded as he lifted up his head, meeting all the surprised faces of his companions. Only a few knew he had a daughter, and only one knew what happened to her. But she wasn’t there.
He finally let go, but still held her close as he cupped her bloodied cheek, the tears wiping away some of the blood, “What the hell happened?” “It’s not mine.” She shook his head, “I had to.” It came out as nothing more than a whisper but it still made Daryl’s heart ache for his little girl. He took a moment to look at her, something he hadn't done in a long time, even before the world went nuts.
Her hair was a mess, and they were darker than how they were the last time he saw her. They were also shorter, now barely reaching her shoulders. She was covered in scratches and had a bulky black eye, but they still shone with the same light they did before.
[August 20th 2010]
The air felt sticky against the girl’s sweaty skin as she propped herself up with her hands to look out the dusty window of the trailer. Her dad and grandpa stood outside with other men from the trailer park, discussing something Isabelle couldn’t hear as they smoked, the dim light of the mood casting a shadow on them.
If her mom was here she would tell her to go to bed, but she wasn’t there so she stayed up anyway. Her eyes met her dad’s and he looked at her angrily before turning back to talking to his friends. He always looked at her angrily, but the glares only worsened after Uncle Merle went to jail.
She didn’t know what happened, all she knew was that one night the police showed up in front of her dad’s trailer and dragged a bloodied Merle out of the house as he cursed at everything that moved.
He reeked of booze, Isabelle could smell it on his clothes and on his breath as the police shoved him on the bonnet of the police car to handcuff him and shove him in. She knew that the police could smell it too, she saw them talking in hushed tones as Merle stayed still like a ragdoll, something not very Merle-like. He must have surrendered to the idea that he was going to jail for a few days once again.
But it wouldn’t be for a few days, because she heard the police talk about tempted murder. Isabelle didn’t know what it ment, but it had to do with killing someone and she knew that her uncle would never do that. So she smiled when he winked at her and waved his hand as the police car drove away, because she knew that she would see him again in a week.
She didn’t.
Her dad didn’t come home that day. Nor did he the following day. It was weird. He had dragged her there in the middle of the night while she was at her mom’s, and she never saw him looking as mad as he did. He was clenching so hard at the steering wheel that for a second she was worried that he was going to hit her. But he didn’t. Isabelle felt stupid, because she knew that her dad would never hit her, but she was just so used to it that she didn’t know what to expect anymore.
Maybe that was why her daddy was mad, because she was being hit. Isabelle didn’t know, all she knew was that he brought her to his trailer, ordained her some pizza and then disappeared with Merle.
He came back for her after three days, and now he was planning on going away again, Isabelle could feel it in her bones as she revived another narrowed look. She didn’t know why he looked at her that way, like he wished she was anywhere but there with him, but she knew that it was he fault. She must have done something to make him mad, she thought. The problem was that she didn’t know how to fix it.
“Girl, come outside to say bye to yer dad.” Her grandpa called from outside, slurring his words. He was drunk. Isabelle hoped that he didn’t drink too much, otherwise she was going to receive a big slap on the wrist for whatever reason he was able to find. He always found a reason to hit her, like the cruel man that he was. Isabelle hoped that her daddy didn’t turn like Grandpa Will, because she could see that he still flinched when his old man came too near. Now she was being the cruel one, she thought, for thinking that her dad could be like that. Maybe that was why he disliked her, because she kept thinking mean things about him.
The girl waddled outside, fidgeting with the sleeve of her pajama as she watched the men get inside her grandpa’s truck. Her dad stood waiting in the middle of the field, a cigarette still between his lips.
“Are you leaving daddy?” She asked, nervously shifting from one foot to the other.
Her dad was good, better than her uncle Merle, better than her grandpa, better than any other men that she had ever known. He was also sadder than everyone else. Isabelle always thought that it was because he was less of an asshole. Her daddy was kind, just like her. She had inherited his good heart, even if his had now turned cold.
Then why was he so vile to her?
The man grunted something about going hunting in response, tossing the cigarette away before turning his focus on the girl standing in front of him. “Ya better stay out of trouble, hear me?”
The girl just nodded. They both knew that she rarely got in trouble, it was just a way to say stay safe without actually expressing any feeling. Feelings weren’t allowed. At least Isabelle hoped that it was because of that, otherwise it really meant that her daddy didn’t know her.
“C’mere.” He grumbled as he wrapped his arms around her tiny frame, callous fingers drawing imaginary circles on her shoulder as she closed her arms, trying to enjoy the rare embrace instead of focussing on the smell of cigarette that reeked from his clothes or the way that this felt like a long goodbye.
Then her dad walked towards the car, not turning around even once as the engine rumbled before departing in a cloud of dark smoke. And Isabelle stayed there, with a hand raised in a half wave and a heavy heart, not knowing that it would be the last time she would see Daryl Dixon in the old world.
The group finally started moving, looking around for the guns that Carl’s father, Rick, had hidden before they arrived at Terminus. Isabelle wasn’t used to being around this many people, especially now, so she just kept walking beside her uncle Merle. She wanted to go to Carl to chat a bit, but she was sure that right now he would much rather stay with his family. Which brought her back to the man walking right next to Rick, helping to search for the weapons.
She wasn’t sure if he was happy she was there. And she wasn’t sure if she was happy that he was here. It was all too weird, seeing him again. She already finished mourning him, so it felt like opening an already healed wound.
“You okay kid?” Her uncle asked, “You are quiet.” Isabelle just shrugged, fidgeting with the hem of her dirty shirt. Merle slowed down, now walking next to her, “Wha’ happened to yer arm?” He nodded towards the girl’s limp limb. She knew it was going to cause a problem, just like the throbbing pain in her head.
“I don’t know.” She lied. It was broken. She was in intense pain and she knew that if she took off the jacket it would be swollen.
The man just grunted before turning his attention back to the woods, “Yer daddy was really worried about ya y’know.” Merle noticed her gaze fixed on the man’s back, “I was too of course, but he was going nuts.”
The girl’s eyes fell on her shoes again, her eyes watering. She didn’t want to cry, she wasn’t little anymore. So instead she just sighed, closed her eyes really hard and then went back to fidgeting with her shirt.
“Where were ya all this time?” He then asked.
“Mama.” Isabelle just replied, her eyes still fixed on her shoes. It was all too weird, all too confusing. Maybe she was just making a fuss over nothing, maybe she was just being a baby and this was the new normal. Maybe now it was common for people to meet again. She did feel like a baby, a big baby. She hated it.
She looked up at Merle. He seemed like he had changed, but the rest of the group still didn’t trust him. They probably didn’t trust her either. She probably didn’t trust them either. She just trusted Carl, and it felt like a milestone. She didn’t trust easily, at least she learnt not to. She was naive by nature, but nature was now changing and so was she.
She still liked to consider herself kind, even after what happened. She didn’t know if others would agree with her. She hoped so. The man mindlessly wandering around the slaughterhouse with his neck sliced open probably wouldn’t.
Alex.
His name echoed in her throbbing head. The fact that she knew his name made it a lot worse that it already was, because it made him sound real. He was a person, a horrible one, but still a person. Isabelle wondered what his story was. Was he always like this or did he change like everything else around them? She always wondered too much, spent entire days in the reign of her imagination. Her dad always scolded her for this.
And now he was pretending like she never existed. She wondered if he had told about her to someone, if perhaps he came looking for her. She doubted it.
Daryl Dixon wasn’t that kind of man and some things never change.

Green Rod In Vacation Mode In Puerto Rico (Villainous Oc)
Created through picrew.me/en/image_maker/16815…
I see Green Rod going on a vacation with her mother to Puerto Rico since I see one of her wanting to one day visit the place of her heritage. I could also see a family reunion on her mother or father's side as well. If it's her father side she would probably learn more about her paternal relatives since her dad doesn't really contact her but she instantly knows they are her father's relatives when she sees how much they down a plate. If it's her maternal side then see some big breasted women with a lustful streak. Also I totally see her telling Omega beforehand she's leaving for a week or two to go to Puerto Rico. She probably would be told she could also keep an eye out for any villains if they are there there so she keeps her superhero suit in case where there are no other heroes. I do think Puerto Rico would have it's own heroes, but on the other hand they can't be everywhere.
She would so tell Omega she would get him a souvenir when she gets back. And Coyote also gets a personal text saying she will be leaving for a while and tells her boyfriend she secretly wishes she could bring him (her maternal side would either be on him and his men and her paternal side would be hyper critical). I imagine Coyote would pretend he's not affected but even his henchmen notice he's having "I miss my secret heroine girlfriend" syndrome and it ends up affecting his villain performance. Heck, since Omega knows about Green Rod and Coyote's relationship he so would see it. I think at least to give him some relief during her time off she would give her more skimpy pictures of herself on vacation and give him a lot to think about when she comes back. In the end, both of them would be happy in their own ways that she's back. And for Coyote, it would be when she appears back with Omega fighting him and he gets more pumped up than ever.
This design I have on her is inspired by Yenny, a Puerto Rican comic about a sexy Puerto Rican girl who has big feet. It's full of fanservice and lots of fetishes. One of the reasons why Yenny dresses so skimpy is that she gets easily heated. David Alvarez the creator worked on other animated American projects like the Looney Tunes Show in the 2010's. He has been trying for years to get Yenny into mainstream American conscious (and even get an animated series) but it's been with limited success. He has a deviantart page which occasionally is updated but it's been sporadic.
