Did I watch season 6? No. Will I watch it? Also no. Anyways- Legendarium could have been used well if it was ONLY creatures of Earth mythology, stuff that none of the main cast is actually familiar with. I know that they showed several established creatures in the show but meh, have the book toss something a bit niche at them, maybe not relying on norse and greek mythology and whatever else was already used. And then BLOOM knows all the creatures and how they can technically be killed because she was a huge nerd about it at 16. Like I know her hyperfixation was faeries, but she must have read a bunch of other stuff too! And I feel she was one of those kids just eating whole books in a day. I don't know, give her something to do. And give more relevance to her Earthly upbringing, maybe add some other stuff that she can deal with because of it, making Earth more than just a planet Daphne had to settle for in order to keep Bloom safe. But Jesus Christ do not have that on Earth. I understand why they had Winx run around Earth in season 6 bc the age demographic dropped a LOT and "lets learn about distant places with our heros!" is a common trope for kids cartoon, but I am not a kid and I don't like it so I'll just keep them in Magical dimension please and thank you. Also there was no need to have them on Earth in season 4 either. I mean- ugh, fine, I guess there was, but they didn't have to LIVE there. They could have visited here and there as the plot progressed and then popped over for the big battle. If they wanted the winx working at a cafe, MAGIX HAS CAFES! Or better yet, DON'T have them all work at the same fucking place at the same time???? What bloody cafe is THAT understaffed in the middle of the summer that they just flat out hire an entire friendgroup??? Yeah ik there is prolly an explanation but I don't like it. Why not have season four have them a bit scattered, actually??? And then when the big stuff happens (and no, I don't mean Nabu's death, jesus christ we just got him and you already broke him WTF- pick something else but don't perma kill the main cast damn it this is WINX. ) Anyways, they're scattered in season 4, maybe some grow a tiny bit distant (or not!) and then something horrible happens and they ofc work through it by the/during finale and then THEY HAVE AN EXCUSE TO BE ALL CLOSE TOGETHER AGAIN IN SEASON 5. It would feel less forced!

Hi Leigh, hope you are doing well!
Maybe you have answered this question before: how would you have written the Supergirl reveal to Lena?
You still have the elements of it being so late in series and that Lena actually already knows.
I wonder how a good writer would approach this because in the show it was an actual train wreck- Lena wanting to expose Supergirl’s identity at the Pulitzer party before Kara actually said it?! So out of character. And all that stuff after? So stupid.
Anyway thanks for answering this question :)
Hi! Hangin' in there, thank you. 🤗
Well, it depends on what point the launch off was.
Let's say she learns via Lex, just like in the show (rather than rewrite the whole damn series in this post, haha).
Just thinking on the fly, here goes... I woulda just had her reeling, feeling betrayed, and isolating rather than putting on a front.
Kara doesn't understand what's happening, but wonders if maybe Lena is secretly angry with her for killing Lex (remember, Kara believed she took him down in that final fight at the end of S4). This is hammered in further after Alex plants the seed that, evil or not, Lex was still Lena's brother, and so some level of sadness is likely to still exist there. She advises Kara to give Lena time and space.
Kara, further worried by Lena's worsening isolation and mood, ignores her sister's advice and makes efforts to connect, but increasingly senses the distance and her guilt grows.
Meanwhile Lena -- between finding out the truth that Kara is Supergirl in such a terrible way, while also hiding that she killed Lex (to protect Kara, ironically) truly spirals and starts to think that Kara perhaps never was truly her friend at all, only using her to be able to eventually take down Lex. A means to an end. Feeling like that's all she's ever been to anybody, including her "best friend" who meant the world to her, Lena becomes darker and more cold, sure -- but never takes those ridiculous 'villainous' actions of any kind.
Alex pulls a typical Alex move and starts to suspect that Lena's isolation and darker vibes could mean trouble as "She is a Luthor." and she's worried she'll carry Lex's torch now that he's gone, and her isolation means she's up to something. Kara of course doesn't buy it -- much like in the show, defending Lena, rebelling against the notion.
After ramping the tension throughout Season 5A on these fronts, a dramatic series of events eventually leads Kara to go to Lena and try to have a much needed conversation. Lena thinks she's perhaps finally going to confess, and she allows herself to feel hopeful again -- alas that hope is dashed, when instead Kara simply apologizes for killing Lex (so she thinks she did), and not realizing how much doing so would cause Lena pain. Lena finds this ironic, Kara's concern for her pain, considering she's lied to her all this time and still won't be open with her. Lena then decides that if nothing else, she won't lie.
She tells Kara that Lex died at HER hand, not Kara's.
Kara is shocked. She's pulled away by an emergency before they can discuss this further. And thus, Kara now believes Lena's distance and darkness is driven by guilt over killing her own brother, and Kara now feels more guilty than ever that she went through that, and that she continues to keep Lena in the dark, even though Lena opened up to her. As we approach mid-season, the two have several 'almost' moments where it seems Kara might actually confess her identity. And we make it clear that she wants to. But the more she sees how hurt Lena is about having to kill Lex, to protect her no less, the worse she feels and the more she's terrified to tell Lena her secret, believing that Lena's done so much for her, meanwhile all she's done -- is lie. It wrecks Kara. And her anger issues start to rise up again, and that comes out a lot in Crisis crossover (in which our world's Lex is NOT yet present again btw), which is of increasing concern to everybody.
Post Crisis, in which Lena and Kara work together to save everybody even though they can barely even look at each other, we have these two idiots with their secrets, both struggling tremendously -- Kara with her anger and guilt, and Lena with her sadness and pain. And both with their regrets. And the rest of the group is noticing these tensions, between missions / various genre adventures.
It ramps up, until finally, shit hits the fan in a 100th episode. Lena is held hostage by someone threatening to kill her if Supergirl doesn't reveal her identity (similar to how it was in the show, but without the Mxy stuff, or at least using it better) -- Kara is fully willing to reveal herself to save Lena. She prepares to do just that, and even goes to the press conference, but just before she has to do it, her friends find a way to save Lena without the reveal needing to happen. But Kara is also nearly killed in the battle. The closest she's ever come to dying.
In the aftermath, Lena has now seen how far Kara would go to protect her -- both in terms of being willing to give up her life AND reveal her identity to the world. Lena of course forgives Kara (quietly, to herself) and decides to let Kara have her secret, even if it means they both pretend the other doesn't know, silly as it it. Alas, what she doesn't expect, at the end of the episode --
Kara reveals her identity to Lena (at Kara's place after everyone else goes home). Turns out almost losing her life made her realize she didn't want to die a coward and a liar on this front. And also, Lena not knowing put her at worse risk than knowing. And she deserves to know, so she can protect herself. So Kara can better protect her.
After/during her confession, Lena sheds a tear, and Kara starts to profusely apologize, thinking Lena is devastated by the revelation. But Lena confesses that it's tears of relief, because she's already known. She was just wondering if Kara would ever trust her enough to tell her the truth. Kara is shocked to know Lena knew, grateful she's kept the secret for her, and heartbroken to know she learned it from Lex, before killing him. She also makes it clear she didn't keep it from her because she didn't trust her, it was never about that. It was simply the belief that not telling her protected her somehow. But now she's seen that was foolish, in this case. Realizing now they've both been dumb and their secrets have done nothing but cause each other, and themselves, so much pain -- they agree: no more secrets.
And they hug it out -- because besties! Just gals being pals right?!
*eye roll*
Then the rest of 5B becomes all about Lex popping up alive, and being furious that Lena and Kara are closer than ever, and that his attempt to destroy their relatio- I mean "friendship" failed. And he comes at them harder than ever, with Lillian's help. And so on. And by the end of S5, in an epic battle, Lex is finally stopped and captured once and for all and hauled off to prison, but not before sending Kara to the phantom zone.
Lena is devastated, as she and Kara only recently had all cards on the table and were growing closer than ever, so S6A then becomes all about the super friends trying to find Kara in the Phantom Zone (with a LOT less cheesy stupidity, and a lot more focus on Kara's traumas and torture while in the PZ rather than any dumb filler crap with her dad being alive -- perhaps she sees him, but it's just a cruel illusion).
Meanwhile, Lena, at wits end, visits Lex in prison, hoping to get information out of him as to where and how they can find Kara in the PZ. But he taunts her, plays games with her, etc until finally, she tells him goodbye for good. He doesn't believe she'll be able to stay away forever, especially as long as he knows how to find Kara. But she finally sees through it all, basically tells him he's full of shit, that he has no idea how to reach Kara in the PZ, he's a liar, always has been, and his power over her is gone. She vows to find Kara on her own and to never be anything like him, as he's selfish and cruel and insane. And she finally walks away from him. And he can't believe it.
Now that she's found her inner strength, Lena is able to think more clearly, less out of anger and desperation, and thus she, Alex and the Superfriends eventually embark on an action-packed retrieval of Kara in the Phantom Zone, ultimately saving her in the mid-season finale.
The final half of the final season (6B) focuses on Kara's deep traumas experienced/re-lived in the phantom zone, as she struggles with doing her job as "perfect" Supergirl while mentally screwed up. No one really notices but Lena, because Kara hides it well. Alex is just happy her sister is back, busy planning a wedding, focusing on vigilante work, etc. And the Superfriends have lots of other issues to focus on as well. But Lena sees Kara's struggles because she knows a thing or two about trauma, and she's there for her. Especially after Alex and Kelly get married with a few episodes to go and Kara doesn't want to burden her sister, who is finally so happy.
The final episodes feature Kara facing her demons, internal and external (as villains from past seasons pop up to haunt her, as it turns out the events post Crisis brought them into this universe, and now they've come after her, and they've all got to take them down).
In the end, the show wraps up with Kara finding a level of peace she never had before, having faced the past and all she's gone through and lost, in great part thanks to having Lena by her side.
And the show ends focused on Kara, for an episode called KARA. Not focused on Lex, nor the supporting characters, not on shoe-horned cameos, nor other bs. But Kara herself, and her journey, her healing from a lifetime of loss and trauma, her relationships to her family and friends, and rediscovering that which is always going to rest deep within her soul, even if it gets a little lost sometimes...
Her unbreakable sense of HOPE.
The End.

Going Up In Flames - THE 100 REWRITE Chapter Thirty-Two
[THE 100 MASTERLIST]
Previous Chapter / Next Chapter
Summary: Captured while hunting, used as hostages by an angry Roan who found out about Kane's people repairing Alpha station behind his back, the chancellor, Michelle and Bellamy were dragged along his army and met by Clarke. They spoke and returned to Arkadia as the ship was crumbling down, going up in flames.
Words: 4.7k
Warnings: The 100 season 4 spoilers (episode 4 "A Lie Guarded", episode 5 "The Tinder Box" & episode 6 "We will rise"), fire, explosion, heart to heart, violence
Michelle had left Arkadia with Bellamy and a few others as part of a hunting party, but this outing didn’t exactly go as planned when Azgedan warriors ambushed them, tying them up, their hands behins their backs and dragged them all the way to Polis. They had also been gagged, preventing them from communicating with each other. They were thrown in the same cell they had stayes in not so long ago, before they put an end to the menace that was Alie and the guards came back soon after and pushed them in the back of the elevator and led them to the throne room, one guard per prisoner, Stephens – one of their peers – at the head of the line, Echo by his side, followed by Bellamy and another grounder and Michelle last, with an Azgeda warrior bringing up the rear behind her. They hadn’t been told anything at all and when her steps showed to be too slow to the grounder’s liking, he shoved her unceremoniously and she grunted, almost losing her balance but kept on walking. She knew he wouldn’t mind giving her another head trauma or literally kill her, and she didn’t want to risk it. They heard Roan talk in the room as they waited in the corridor until he called Echo, and she started the march. Before Bellamy and Stephens were forced to their knees, Michelle’s view was blocked but she heard her father’s voice say the two young men’s names upon seein them in surprise and confusion, asking what it was about but he froze in shock when he saw his own daughter being made to kneel alongside Bellamy, gagged and tied up as well. There was one emotion going through his eyes – worry. He put his hand at the back of her head as she looked up at him.
“Are you all right?” She gave a firm nod to try and reassure him. Roan stood from his throne, taking a few steps forward.
“Echo saw your people rebuilding your ship. She captured these three hunting in my woods. This one says it’s a shelter from the radiation.” He pointed at Stephens. Michelle looked at him from the corner of her eyes. He had in fact spilled the beans the moment they had been caught by the grounders and while she wasn’t exactly mad at him, she was a little annoyed because they were now in this uncomfortable situation. Kane tried to justify it.
“It’s a backup plan, nothing more.”
“He said that too, just before he told us that you have a Nightblood. It’s a good thing the flame’s been destroyed, or I’d be worried you’re planning an ascension.”
“You have to trust me. We discovered that Nightblood helps metabolize radiation. We’re investigating ways to create it for everyone – turn everyone into Nightbloods so we can all survive.”
“Blasphemy.” Echo exclaimed angerly. “Nothing they tell us is true.”
“This is— it’s not blasphemy. It’s— it’s science. If Nightblood can save lives, we should use it.” Michelle and Bellamy watched the Azgedan king anxiously as a weird silence fell in the room and Michelle guessed he looked at Echo as his eyes shifted and he gave a very subtle nod, and she got confirmation that her guess was right when Echo suddenly grabbed onto Stephens and slit his throat. Kane yelled, rushing to the young man as blood poured from his neck and he gagged as Echo pushed him forward.
“Warriors don’t reveal secrets.” She then said as Kane fell to his knees by the boy’s side. The spy walked behind the two other prisoners, and she forced Michelle to stand up, putting her bloodied blade to her throat. She could feel its sharpness as she gulped. She hadn’t even moved it across her throat that she already felt a slight sting as if she had been cut slightly from just the pressure of holding it so close to her skin. Michelle’s eyes were wide, but they looked frantic now and she held her breath, Echo holding her head up, her hand under jaw. Michelle was confused as to why Echo was doing this when she had kept quiet and didn’t tell them anything, but she realized that if she wanted to come at Kane, if Echo knew about the fact that he was her father, well she was their best choice to force Kane to do and agree to pretty much anything.
“No! Don’t do this. Don’t hurt her.” Though he didn’t beg Echo, but his eyes were, and there was a great urgency in his voice. He was terrified about the thought of his daughter’s life being harmed.
“Truth is the first casualty of war.” Roan spoke. A gesture of his hand let Echo know her next move and she shoved Michelle. The latter couldn’t find her balance and was caught by her father as she fell. They came down to their knees and he softly wiped the tiny drop of blood that ran down her neck and held her arms. “If your motives were pure, you would’ve shared your plan with me. Our alliance is broken. Skaikru and Trikru are the enemy.” One of the warriors asked something, speaking in their tongue and replying in it as well, Roan declared the lot of them hostages. Indra and Octavia’s name were mentioned, and Roan ignored Kane pleads to listen to him and turned their back to them, walking away as they were dragged away and thrown back into the cell, Kane along with them this time around.
“Doesn’t matter what we do.” Bellamy said. “Always end up here— the brink of war.”
“Abby’s on the island. She’ll find a cure. I know she will. Hey… We will get through this.” He called out to him and his daughter to get them to look at him as they were obviously feeling defeated and beaten down. “We will get through this.” Michelle sighed through her nose, parting her lips, about to mention all that Jaha told her the day prior but she rose her head, looking at the cell door upon hearing keys jiggle in the distance and the door creak open. A couple grounders walked in, followed by Echo, white and black war paint on her face and around her eyes.
“On your feet.” They obliged. Roan came in as well.
“What are you doing?” Kane enquired, looking at the latter.
“We’re bringing you home. Your ship is shelter from Praimfaya, so I intend to take it.”
“You don’t have to do this. We can find a solution together.” Roan rose his hand to quiet Kane.
“That time has passed.” He turned around. “Get them ready to march.”
“Octavia will get there first.” Bellamy spoke. “She’ll warn them you’re coming. You’ll lose.” They stopped in their tracks. Roan glanced at Echo, and she turned back around, pulling out a sword. The blade was broken in half and the metal clattered as they hit the ground. Bellamy didn’t move, looking down at it in silence. Michelle stared at the weapon. She couldn’t believe Octavia could be dead.
“She wouldn’t be taken alive.” Roan said.
“No.” Bellamy spoke under his breath, shaking his head in disbelief. He turned his back to them, facing the bars of the cell. Michelle pulled her eyebrows together, hurting to see him like this as his face crumpled. His breath was shaky, and he let out a sob. He fell to his knees, grasping the bars firmly while Roan said something to his men. Tears welled up in Michelle’s eyes. Of course she was sad about Octavia, but she was even sadder for Bellamy. She knew how this must feel. She imagined it a thousand times when she almost lost her father to Alie’s machinations. Bellamy cried and shouted. He didn’t want to believe it. He didn’t want it to be true. Michelle crouched down, putting her hand on his shoulder and squeezing gently, hoping her touch would be somewhat comforting but she was quickly pulled off him. It was breaking her heart to pieces to hear him scream at the top of his lungs and cry out like this as they were led out of the cell.
Echo rode with Roan, at the head of the immense army he was leading towards Arkadia. Bellamy, Michelle and Kane stood in the middle of the crowd; their faces covered with rags. A voice rose in the distance. Michelle recognized Clarke instantly. Roan gave orders to his archers and the simply mention of wanheda confirmed it was in fact Clarke. Warriors grabbed the prisoners and made them walk forward and they pushed down on their shoulders to force them to their knees and the cloths were pulled off their heads, holding their swords a few inches from their faces. They were briefly blinded by the bright light and looked around them. Clarke was a few feet in front of them and snipers were positioned on the sides, at the top of the cliffs.
“Your move, wanheda.”
“10 minutes. That’s all I ask.” Roan eventually got off his horse and Clarke walked away, and he followed her.
“Wait, where is she going? What if it’s a trap?” Echo called out to her king.
“It is a trap. We’re already in it.” He glanced at her over his shoulder. The snipers’ lasers still set on him. After he left, Echo gave orders to her people, and they took position. Kane turned his head to look at Echo behind them.
“This is insane.” He sighed as no one listened to him. “We have thousands of rounds. You’ll be the ones with no one left.”
“Then let’s hope no one shoots.” She replied coldly.
Michelle followed her father’s gaze as he looked at Bellamy, addressing him. The latter stared ahead of him, rather composed. “What is it?”
“They thought they had the element of surprise, but we did. Someone warned them.”
“Octavia?” Michelle spoke under her breath. The corners of his mouth lifted slightly, a gleam of hope reviving his gaze. He was convinced that his sister was alive, but he was still worried. He couldn’t be sure that was the case and looked around, gulping.
After a moment, Monty came walked before the army, his hands in the air, letting them know he was unarmed. He wanted to talk to who was in charge, and that happened to be Echo. A grounder grabbed his arm and led him to her. Bellamy and Michelle exchanged a look of incomprehension. Their friend was pushed to the ground and Bellamy leaned forward, helping him up, immidietaly asking about his sister. The latter gave him a nod. She was alive. Echo got off her mount and approached, urging the newcomer to speak. He kept his hand where they could see them, to be as non-threatening as possible. He was risking his life coming here.
“One of our people has moved out of formation. I’ve reason to believe he’s trying to kill your king.”
“Why are you telling me this?”
“Why do you think he’s telling you this?” Bellamy spoke. “He’s trying to stop a massacre.”
“Who is it?” Kane asked.
“Riley.” Michelle remembered who this was – Monty’s friend from Farm station. One of the people who had been enslaved by Azgedan grounders. Given what Bellamy then said, he shouldn’t even be here. Echo didn’t waste any more time and grabbed something off her horse’s sadle, talking to the archers.
“Wait. If our snipers see archers on the move, they’ll open fire.” Kane addressed her before she left, urging Monty to support his claim and he confirmed those were their orders, but she was reluctant to listen.
“I will not allow my king to be assassinated.”
“He doesn’t have to be. I know Riley. Let me come with you. I can stop him.”
“Do you think me a fool, Bellamy?”
“You’d be a dead fool if you step out of this kill box without me.” He argued. “Use Monty’s radio and let Kane tell them we’re working together to find Riley, and they’ll let us pass.”
She considered it and gave a nod to one of his men threw the radio at her. She caught it and handed it to Kane. He pressed the button under his thumb, “This is Chancellor Kane. Listen to me. Bellamy’s working with one of theirs to find Riley. You let them through, understood?”
“Copy that.” She then immidietaly snatched the radio from his hand and slipped it to her belt. One of them took off the chains at Bellamy’s ankles, linking him to Kane and Michelle, and put them on Monty at Echo’s order. She was clear – if she wasn’t back before the sun went past the trees, they were to kill the hostage on the spot. Monty and Michelle couldn’t hide their uneasiness. Though Bellamy had been detached from the others, they didn’t remove his handcuffs and Echo shoved him, making him walk in front of her.
An explosion sounded in the distance, and everyone could see the smoke rise above the treeline. Given the distance, it must have come from Arkadia itself. The sky was already dark by the time they reached camp and saw the entire ship set in flames. All their efforts to make it livable for the radiation had quite literally gone up in flames. Bellamy found his sister and held her in his arms as she struggled to catch her breath. Clarke and Michelle rushed to them.
“It was Ilian… I tried to stop him.” She said with difficulty, her face covered in soot. Clarke looked up. A young grounder was standing nearby. He raised his hand in front of his face reflexively when there was another explosion in the station. Pieces of metal flew off the ship’s structure. Michelle winced, looking away, his eyes hurt by the fire. She took a step back, putting her hand in front of her face. She turned her head when she felt a hand on her shoulder and saw her father standing next to her, so she eased up a bit. Another explosion and the ring broke in half, one part falling to the ground. She jumped and her father wrapped his arms around her, bringing her closer to him in a reflex to protect and shield her from the fallouts of the explosion.
Ilian was put in a cell in the prison wing. He wasn’t exactly locked up though since the mesh walls had been burnt to a cinder. And after a mob entered the cell last night to beat him up, only stopping when her father fired a warning shot and yelled at everyone, they had had to place guards to protect the young grounder. Yes, he was at the origin of the fire that ruined all their efforts, but they weren’t going to enact justice on their own.
The top half of Alpha Station had collapsed and many of the sectors had sustained a ton of damage, or were completely destroyed making it impossible for them to seal the whole thing in preparation for when the radiation and the black rain came but still, not everything had been calcinated but only half of the living quarters or even the chancellor’s office had been spared by the flames. Michelle was starting to wake up and opened her eyes when she felt Bellamy move away from her. She held the blanket over her bare chest and leaned on her elbow. He got out of bed and put on his clothed before turning around as he slipped his arms in his jacket. He had to go to a meeting with the Azgedan king, Monty, Clarke and Kane, who she had almost forgotten was very much still the current chancellor. It was weird to think she was the Chancellor’s kid, like Wells was on the Ark, except her father’s wasn’t necessarily hated, and unlike Wells, she had no problem being blunt or argumentative if she didn’t like something or disagreed with her father. The fact that he was Chancellor didn’t change anything for her, which also didn’t mean that she would ever be genuinely disrespectful.
Michelle wasn’t going to attend the meeting – she honestly had nothing to do there with them. But she knew what it was about. They had to go out and bring things Raven and Abby needed to work on this Nightblood cure on the island with Luna. Bellamy leaned towards her and pressed his lips against hers, tenderly kissing her before leaving the room. She would meet up with him and Clarke later, when they would leave camp, but she lingered in bed a bit before getting up. She picked up her clothes from the floor, got dressed and grabbed her jacket on her way out, putting it on as she walked to the Chancellor’s office. On the way there, she crossed path with Roan, and they gave each other a respectful nod. Nearing the door – or rather the doorframe – she heard her father speak. It was good that he was still there, maybe they would have a minute to talk before she left with the others.
“Clarke, I’m going with you.”
“You can’t.”
“I’m the chancellor.”
“That’s why you can’t.” She insisted. Michelle waited outside for their conversation to be over, leaning against the wall. “After everything that happened this morning, our people need you here, now more than ever. I know you’re worried about my mother.”
“She’s going into space… in a 100-year-old rocket. Do you have any idea how many things could go wrong?”
“Raven says the rocket’s intact. She’d like a little more fuel, but as long as we get her what we’ve got, she said she’ll get them both back down safely. Look, we have to try. I’ll send her your love.”
“Yes. Please do that. And I’ll make sure there’s something left to save… when you get home.” As they went silent, she entered and couldn’t help but smile upon seeing them hug. It really felt like they had become this huge family. Their parents were together, so they were like actual sisters now, even though they had always felt like sisters. And even with Octavia and Bellamy, given she was with him, they were all like in laws or steps. And Abby had always kind of felt like a second mother since she was her mother’s best friend, in the same fashion as her and Clarke. Turning to the door, Clarke told Michelle to meet her at the gate in five minutes. She nodded. It gave her just enough time to speak to her dad about what she learned from Jaha a couple days ago.
“I wanted to talk to you.”
“What is it? Is everything all right?” He caressed her cheek gently with the back of his fingers. She locked eyes with him and spoke quietly.
“Did you really not know?” He parted his lips, probably about to ask what she was talking about but, but she saw in his eyes, that he knew exactly what she was talking about. His hand went to rest on her shoulder. He sighed, looking away. “When Abby first told me about it, months ago… she said mom told you the truth after the bombing, on Unity Day but, Jaha… he told me the whole council knew. You were on the council. I know the only person she actually told at the time was Abby, but Jaha said it was obvious to everyone you were my dad. Did you really think she’d gotten pregnant with someone else’s kid after you’d just separated?”
“I didn’t want to face it, and when I asked her… she refused to talk to me and said it wasn’t my child. She probably didn’t mean it literally, but I took it that way... It was my fault things ended with your mom.” She noticed he looked sad talking about it, despite it happening almost two decades ago. He looked shameful too. “She told me, multiple times, that she felt as though I didn’t care about her. And I thought she was right to keep me out of your life – I didn’t deserve you. I watched you grow up from afar instead.”
“Maybe things would have been different if I’d known then that you were my dad. I mean, I would’ve still fought over it with her, but I don’t think I’d have hated you so much, if I didn’t only know you as the really annoying Councilman Kane.” They chuckled and she sniffled, wiping a tear which beaded in the corner of her eye. “I mean, I was a bit of a handful as a teenager.”
“I saw that.” He smiled, tenderly cupping her cheek with his hand. “Look at the young woman you’ve become. I’m sure that she’s proud of you. I am.”
She wrapped her arms around him, resting her chin against his shoulder. “I’m happy that you’re my dad.” He held her tightly against him, his hand cradling her head. She couldn’t believe how far they had come. When she found out he was her father, she refused to accept him as such, and now she was basically telling him how much she loved him.
Michelle was with Clarke and Bellamy in the rover as he drove through the woods, a second truck behind them, hiding Roan and his guards. It had been decided it was preferrable for the Azgedan to keep a low profile as they crossed the forest on their way to the island to bring Raven the rocket fuel she needed. She glanced at Clarke from the corner of her eyes when the latter spoke. Both of them could tell something had been troubling Bellamy ever since they left Arkadia.
“Is it Octavia?”
“Keep your eyes on the trees.”
“She hasn’t forgiven you, has she?” Clarke insisted. Michelle looked at him, seeing his jaw clench. “I told you it would take time.”
“We don’t have much of that left now, do we?” Less than a minute later, they came to a halt after reaching a bunch of grounders in the middle of the road. He grabbed his radio, telling the second vehicle to stop as well. “Looks like a Trikru checkpoint. Stay alert, show no weapons. Keep your passengers on ice.”
“Wait. It’s not a checkpoint.” Clarke opened the door, her foot already out. Michelle leaned forward to look through the windshield, her hand on the passenger seat. “They have a wounded.”
“Clarke.” He called out to her, but she didn’t listen and hopped out of the car.
“What is she doing?” The second driver asked.
“Being Clarke. No one else gets out.” He looked over his shoulder, telling Michelle to stay put and he joined Clarke outside. They went to check on the wounded man, lying by a tree. From where she was, Michelle saw a small child wander around the vehicles and walk along the truck. She looked at Bellamy and Clarke, hoping one of them would notice him before he found the smuggled Azgedan at the back. And Bellamy did see him. He got the grounders to clear the road and Clarke came back in the car. He motioned for the kid to get away from the truck, but he stepped back and saw the passengers they were hiding. He screamed, warning his people about Azgeda and Bellamy rushed inside the rover, immidietaly starting the car and they drove fast to get out of there as the Trikru grounders brandished their weapons. They sped through the woods and reached the river with cobblestone shores. He stopped the car again and got out. Michelle joined him and Clarke outside.
“Murphy didn’t say anything about a river.” She spoke.
“Ice melt.” Roan walked up behind them. “I’ll find us a place to cross upstream.”
“Wait. Take the rover. You’ll cover more ground and it’ll be safer.”
“With him?” Bellamy wasn’t too convinced it seemed.
“We have to get across the river. The rest of us will stay here and guard the fuel.”
“We won’t be long.” He nodded and they drove away. While the two were gone, the rest of them found out pretty quickly that the grounders they had come across earlier had followed them all the way here. They were attacked and one of Roan’s security detail was killed. Clarke tried to talk to them, but they wouldn’t listen. One of them grabbed Michelle, putting a blade to her throat, and they were just as deaf to Clarke’s pleading to not hurt her friend. She agreed to drive the truck if they left Michelle alone but instead, the latter was hit in the head and collapsed to the ground, her eyes struggling to stay open, her vision had gotten blurry, and she groaned in pain as a migrained set in. She heard people talk around her as she was forced to come sit at the front with the grounder while Clarke took the wheel. She heard their voices, but she couldn't make out the words. Leaning against the window, wincing, still very much conscious and she wished she would just pass out to not feel the pain and just sleep through it. The side of her head felt like it was burning and while she wasn’t sure she was bleeding, but she would definitely get a bump.
She did somewhat fall asleep at some point because she felt herself coming to her senses when something cold and sharp pressed against her skin and had the displeasure of realizing that the grounder was holding his machete to her neck and the migraine became way less of a problem. She didn't dare move as he threatened Clarke after realizing she was slowing down the vehicle. A glance at the rearview mirror outside let her know that Bellamy and Roan had found them. At least some good news. When the rover got next to them, the grounder forced Michelle to show herself and lean forward so that Bellamy would see her. Roan had jumped at the back, and they could hear him fight with another grounder. The latter screamed at the top of his lungs and went quiet – Roan had won the fight. Michelle wasn’t all that relieved because the one with the machete tightened his grip, pressing the sharp side of the blade harder against her throat and she gasped, holding her breath while Clarke eyes darted around worryingly as she kept on driving.
Bellamy pulled the rover aside, blocking the truck’s path and he jumped outside, gun in hand. All while keeping his weapon on Michelle, he struggled with Clarke, grabbing the wheel with his free hand. She felt the machete move around and feared she would accidentally get her throat slit so she put her hand against the blade – specifically the one hand with the scar from when she had gotten it slashed during their first major battle against the grounders. She had lost all feeling in that hand, although also quite a bit of strength in it, but she was less worried about injuring that one again while pushing the weapon from her neck, which she did. She let out a groan as she slipped away, putting her back against the door to stay away. Clarke threw her elbow at his face and a second later he was shot by Bellamy. Michelle pushed his body off her and fell from the seat, and under the glovebox as Clarke suddenly came to a full stop.
“Are you okay?” Clarke’s relieved smile faded as she looked at her while Michelle opened the door to throw out the grounder’s body, wincing from this intense throbbing pain because of the migraine and the slight sting at her neck. She didn’t respond as she started feeling sick and nauseous and she jumped out of the truck, stumbling down and falling to her knees on the dirt, spitting out bile. Her throat was feeling sore, as though there was acid in the back of her mouth. Bellamy rushed to her side, bringing her a bottle of water. She took a few sips and sigh, letting her head fall on Bellamy’s shoulder as he put his arm around her and helped her to the rover. They took off and she rested her eyes until they reached the ocean. When they did, some time later, Bellamy told her to stay in the rover while they unloaded the fuel, and he would come back for her. From her seat, she watched Bellamy and Clarke speak but she really didn’t want to move one bit. Her head hurt with every single tiny movement she made. Her eyes felt heavy and she fell asleep again.

In honor of it being winx 19th birthday, how would you rank the seasons?
oooooooooooohhhhhhh that’s a hard one…. I’ll rank up to 6 cause I stopped watching after that
1st- This was honestly going to be a tie between 2 and 3 but in the end 3 won out. It has a more interesting plot and introduces our lovely Enchantix but it’s also a little too Bloom focused and the ending… I never was the biggest fan of the ending if I’m being 100% honest, like… a 5 minute battle after ALL of that? But it did also have some of the best moments and my fave moments like the Crystal Labyrinth, Flora’s Enchantix, the whole Omega/Tecna plotline and more. Also since the entire Club is established at this point we get to explore their dynamic a bit more. Though Musa and Flora blend a bit into the background at times and we rarely get any Specialist moments. But overall, for me it’s the best to me.
2nd- Season 2. We get Darkar, Aisha’s epic introduction and her arc, little moments for all the girls’ Charmix. HELIA?! HELIA AND FLORA?! AAAAAA!!!! Sorry fangirled there a bit. I feel like we got to see a bit more of the boys this season so I loved that. Darkar is an epic, creepy villain and I feel like the Trix are still good in this season. Also Dark Bloom was lowkey iconic and I loved the pixies this season. For me seasons 2 and 3 are very close in this ranking. The only reason it’s second is because s3 has a bit more memorable moments and of course, Enchantix.
3rd- This might surprise yall but… season 4. I LOVE season 4. I love the Wizards, their dynamic and personalities, Anagan’s little weird flirting with Flora? Gold. It has a lot of unnecessary drama between the Specialists and the Winx but I can let it slide because of the great ideas. We get the Wizards of the Black Circle, the dynamic with Roxy as we get to see another young girl get her world twisted upside down. Then, we free the Earth fairies and… they want fucking revenge. And that’s awesome. The timeline makes absolutely no fucking sense though. I’ll be honest, this one is mostly here due to nostalgia (this season was my fave for a very long time) and ideas not necessarily execution. But this one will always have a special place in my heart.
4th- the one that started it all, season 1! The one where we get introduced to almost all of the girls the only season in which Riven actually gets to keep his development, it’s he best season of the Trix and… this one is probably the most coherent one when it comes to plot since the plot had to be simple since we were just being introduced to the characters and world. I love this season so much. The only reason it isn’t higher is mostly cause the others just have so much more going on that this one can fade a bit into the background but I still absolutely adore it. Also, I have a thing with insects so the Army of Darkness still gives me the creeps to this day just… no- ew
5th- Now on to where I personally feel the decline truly started, season 5. So, they returned the squad to school with no explanation and just… okay? Then all of a sudden Aisha have these cousins that have never been shown before and one of them is evil and has the Trix join him and… okay? And then… it’s just a mess of somewhat good ideas but this is also when they start making the Winx childish like, even more than they were in season 1. And I cannot remember anything about the boys this season, literally just that stupid amnesia plotline like- what?! Can we please just give Bloom and Sky a break? I actually liked the idea of them breaking up to give themselves sometime but no let’s just get fucking- I can’t even. This was just a weird season overall to me. I liked the concept of the oceans and sometimes it was done really well other times not. Also the Trix just… lose their impact
6th- now… wow… I like some of the concepts here, mainly Selina and the Legendarium but they were executed so fucking horribly. I adore the Bloomix designs like, I might even put them above Enchanitx they are so fucking pretty but the way they get it is just… such bullshit? And then the Legendarium could’ve been a chance to make up myths for other planets but no for some reason they are all from Earth? And then Daphne’s random ass plotline and randomly getting married and just what?! The only thing I liked were the designs, Helia and Flora having a conflict even if it was a bit stupid and Musa losing her voice. That’s literally all I can remember cheering for. And now we have a form unironically called Bloomix… remember when I said season 3 focused a bit too much on Bloom? Yeah… also I fucking hate the fairy godmother I’m not even going to look up her name. Selina had potential but then the Trix at this point are just pitiful. So yeah, this is when I oficially gave up on the series, I didn’t even watch the full final few episodes I just skimmed them.
And that’s the ranking! Also, Winx is now my same age, I feel fucking old ajjajajaja.

Lads, said friend asked for details.
I explained most of it. Didn’t even get into every single thing they fucked up. Just very, very broad strokes. I don’t think she believed me for the first 5 minutes of my rant.
When I got to the Five/Lila stuff, she was genuinely confused.
When I explained the assassination of all the characters, she was angry.
By 25-20 minutes in, when I hit the ‘why was the ultimate message of this show pro-eugenics,’ rant, she was appalled.
Ps- showed her the picture of Ben and Jennifer, she asked why they were covered in spaghetti and meatballs. And that’s a fair question that I don’t have an answer to.
A friend mentioned wanting to watch Umbrella Academy season 4. I talked her out of it and told her that if I could have the memories deleted out of my head, I would happily do so.
She has wisely decided that the show ended with them all moving on and building a great life for themselves.
Let's all be jealous of her.

I filled an entire page of my sketchbook with Nori!
I love them sm!!! This has to be one of my favorite of your rewrites, I seriously did not think I could actually care abt PJ Masks past the age of 6 but now I'm obsessed 😭
On another note, just a random thing I'm curious about, before breaking off from GunnTech, did the main three basically live at the facility since they were initiated? I guess they do from what I’ve seen, but I was just wondering if they ever had to go to like. School or something, when they're not training. And if they ever got to see their family again (though I doubt both the kids and their family would want to lol)
And one more thing, totally important and necessary to ask, how does Nori acquire the kids? (..that doesnt sound right)
Like does he break in to the facility from time to time or did they just bring them with him when they left GunnTech or does he take them in when he finds them just out and about??
NORI… OUR FAVOURITE PROBLEM! The way you draw eyes scratches my brain /positive.
I think the idea is that everyone does live at GunnTech, they have rooms and go to school. GunnTech also has a prison somewhere (like, sci fi, clean, sterile white prison, a glass front-wall for cells instead of bars, and that’s where everyone gets put in Season 4. But, before that, when the main three villains (or at least, just Luna and Nori) escaped, it wasn’t totally locked down so they had to walk out suspiciously/tell the security guards reasons (you need to give reasons when leaving GunnTech so, “I’m hanging out with a friend” comes with ‘who is the friend + give us contact details’) and then probably remove a tracker (unsure as to whether the wristbands are the trackers or the trackers are put into their chest implants), and try to avoid getting caught for the rest of the time (until season 3-4 ofc). The main story probably begins with the three MCs trying to find them and bring them back. Romeo’s wanted cause he stole tech, though, he’s not a mutant.
Nori risks his life basically (not literally but he risks huge punishment) by constantly breaking into the facility to get out new kids. Kids who haven’t yet been mutated all have one room (several large rooms for many kids’ bunk beds basically, not literally one big room 😭) and he goes in and saves one or two each time. Some kids don’t *want* to come with him, thinking this is a cool superhero opportunity. He has an easier time helping kids who are scared and having second thoughts. He’s very gentle.
Also reminder that Nori had their finger prints burned off yipeeee. He’s not letting that happen to the others. (It doesn’t happen to every kid, but GunnTech probably has categories (like, heroes: animals, space, spies, drivers, healers?) and if you’re in the (name is a work in progress) Spies Category (stealth category?) like Nori, you get your finger prints burned off.
Daisy is canonically one of the only two Ninjalino names we know! I might make her into a small side character so that art isn’t 100% solid but eh!
Also he can’t really just “take them back to their parents”. If you’re a child at GunnTech, your parents either gave you away for money or you’re an orphan.
Nori’s usually a sassy ‘problem’ but they have their really serious and gentle moments.

I AM REWRITING THIS FROM AN OC STORY. IF I MISS ANYTHING, PLEASE LET ME KNOW SO I CAN FIX IT! THIS IS CHAPTER 1 OF 5 OF ALREADY WRITTEN CHAPTERS.
April 4, 2022 12:30pm
You sigh, turning your attention away from your software engineering professor to your laptop screen. You watch as the 20 best drivers in the world complete the last lap of the first race of the 2021 Formula 1 season. You just recently got into Formula 1, so you’re watching the 2021 season to get a feel for the sport. Someone told you the 2021 season is a great season to watch because of the fights between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton. You silently cheer as your favorite driver, Lando Norris, finishes P4. You look up at the clock and see that it’s only 12:30. Still 35 minutes left of class, you think. You let out a small sigh, turning back to your laptop. You move on to watching qualifying for the first Italy grand prix of the 2021 season. You have just clicked play when you feel your phone vibrate in your pocket. You grab it and see a text message from an unknown number.
Unknown Number: Did you make it home from the club okay?
You: *One Image Attached* Considering I’m currently in a programming lecture, I think you may have been given the wrong number. I’m sorry.
I send a picture of my view of my professor, laptop, and notes to the unknown number.
Unknown number: Oh, thank you! I’m sorry for bothering you!
Unknown number: Hang on, are you watching Formula 1 while in lecture?
You: It’s okay! Also, yes I am watching Formula 1 while in lecture. I’d rather be learning about Formula 1 than boring C++. Also, why are you texting someone about getting home from the club okay? It’s 12:30 pm?
Unknown number: It’s currently 2:30 am for me. I was attempting to text a girl I was talking to at the club, but it looks like she gave me the wrong number.
You: Oh, that makes sense. Wait, where are you that’s 14 hours ahead of me? Also, I’m sorry about the whole wrong number thing. That really sucks. Unless she gave you the wrong number cause you’re a creep. Then you deserve it.
Unknown number: I’m currently in Melbourne, Australia. And I wasn’t being a creep! At least, I don’t think so. I hope not at least; I try my best to not be a creep.
You: Alright, that’s good. I doubt you were being a creep. And Australia? Jeez, that’s so far from me. I’m in the United States.
Unknown number: That's only a small stretch from Australia.
You: Yeah, it’s going to be not fun to watch the F1 race this weekend, but staying up is so worth it to see the race live.
Unknown number: Big fan of the sport?
You: Yeah, I am. I just recently got into it, so I’m watching the 2021 season to learn everything I can. I’m also attempting to watch all the qualifying and races live.
Unknown number: Oh cool. That’s got to be tiring because most of the races are in Europe. Waking up early every day of the weekend must suck.
You: I mean, yeah. It kinda sucks, but it’s not too bad. I’m not waking up super early unless it’s races in places like Japan and Australia. The earliest I have to wake up is like 6 for other races. That’s not too bad though.
Unknown number: Oh, that’s not too bad then! Which team do you support?
You: Well, there’s not a specific team I really support. If I have to choose one, it would be McLaren, probably followed by Red Bull. I support drivers more than I support teams really.
Unknown number: Okay, then who are your top three drivers?
You: That is a hard decision to make for 2 and 3. Lando Norris is for sure my number one driver, but I have like 5 drivers tied for second and then 5 tied for third.
Unknown number: Oh interesting. Any drivers you dislike then?
You: No, I don’t dislike any drivers. Unless you count past drivers *cough* Mazespin *cough*
Unknown number: That’s a funny nickname for Mazepin. But why don’t you like him?
You: I’m not sure. I just get a weird vibe from him.
Unknown number: Interesting. But I get what you’re saying. Can I ask why Lando is your favourite?
You: Sure! Lando is my favorite because of his personality, humor, and how he speaks out about mental health. I really struggle with depression and anxiety, so having such a public figure speak out about it is amazing. Also helps that he’s got the boy next door charm. That’s definitely my type lol
Unknown number: Ahh, okay! Those are good reasons to like him! Now, I feel weird talking to a nameless person. Can I ask you what your name is?
You: My name is Y/n. Can I ask what your name is?
Unknown number: Y/n, that’s a pretty name. My name is Luke.
You: Nice to meet you, Luke.
You look up when you hear a commotion around you. You see that your classmates are packing their things and leaving. Wow, time really flew by talking to this stranger. You put your phone down and quickly pack your things. You sling your backpack over your shoulder and head out. You feel your phone vibrate with a text again. You see that it’s Luke again.
Luke: Nice to meet you too, Y/n.
9 pm
You groan, leaning back in your chair. You glare at the lab manual you’ve been trying to make sense of for the past two hours. You glance over at your phone as it lights up with a message from your mom, and you pick it up to respond to the message. You are distracted from responding to her though because you see a message from Luke from 10 minutes ago. Your eyebrows rise in surprise.
Luke: Good morning!
You: Uh, hi. Good morning! Did you sleep well?
Luke: I did! Has the rest of your day gone well?
You: The rest of my day has gone okay. I’ve been staring at some stupid code that’s not working. The assignment is due in three days, so I need to get this code fixed.
Luke: That sounds awful. I’m so thankful I’m no longer in school.
You: Yeah, I’m jealous. I’m searching for jobs in my dream field, but I haven’t found any that allows me to do what I want yet.
Luke: Oh? What’s your dream job then?
You: My ultimate dream job is working as a photographer in the motorsport world, preferably F1, but I’d take any motorsport. My next dream job is just anything that allows me to travel the world taking photos.
Luke: That would be an awesome job. I recently got into photography as a hobby. Do you have any photos you’d be willing to share with me?
You: Sure!
You send him five of your favorite photos I’ve taken. Two are of cars on the move, one is a still life of a bunch of cars from a car show, the fourth is a sunset, and the last is of a group of people playing soccer.
Luke: Holy shit! Those are amazing!
You: Thanks! I’m really proud of these photos. They’re some of my favorite ones I’ve taken.
Luke: They’re beautiful.
You: Thank you! So, you mentioned that you’re no longer in school. Can I ask what exactly you do?
You wait for a minute, but get no response. You decide to mess around on your phone for a bit while waiting for a response. After 5 minutes of not getting a response, you set my phone down. Right as you set your phone down, a notification for your chat with Luke pops up and you quickly click it.
Luke: I am an event manager for McLaren F1 team.
You: Really? That is so cool! I wanted to do event management in sports before I was in software engineering, though I was wanting to get into baseball. If I was still event management, I’d want to do motorsports now. Do you enjoy it? What does that entail?
Luke: I plan events for the fans mainly.
You: That sounds like a fun job.
Luke: Why did you switch?
You: My parents thought I wouldn’t find a job that would make as much money as they do, so they made me switch to software engineering because it has higher paying jobs.
Luke: Well, that’s stupid. Were you happy in event management?
You: Yeah, I was. But my parents are paying for my college, so I have to do what they want.
Luke: That’s very stupid. I take it you aren’t happy with software engineering?
You: No, I’m not. But I’ve only got two years left, so it’ll be all good!
Luke: Alright, well good luck.
You: Thanks! Do you have a hangover?
Luke: I actually didn’t drink that much, so no hangover for me!
You: That’s very nice. I’ve never been hungover. I don’t drink a lot when I do drink. Can’t stand the taste of alcohol lol
Luke: Oh yeah, I get that. Do you want to play a game?
You: What game?
Luke: 21 Questions? To get to know each other?
You: That sounds like a good idea. I can start. What is your favorite thing to do in your off time?
Luke: I like to play video games. What is your favourite tv show?
You: Doctor Who. I could go on about that show forever. Who is your real life hero?
Luke: Valentino Rossi. What’s your favourite season of the year?
You: Fall. The colors are beautiful, the temperature is beautiful. I love it. What is your favorite song?
Luke: Right now it’s Last Last. What is your favourite city?
You: Of all the cities I’ve been to, London or Barcelona. If you had to guess what people appreciate the most about you, what would you say?
Luke: My humour for sure. You’ve been to London and Barcelona?
You: Yeah, I went when I was a lot younger with my family. My family went on a three week trip to four different countries in Europe. We went to London, Paris, Zurich, and Barcelona. I loved London the most. It was right before the 2012 Olympics, so the city is probably different from what I remember now, though. Are you more of an introvert or an extrovert?
Luke: I would say I’m in the middle. What are your top three items on your bucket list?
You: Going to an F1 race, start going to the gym, develop my skills in photography even more. Do you like to go to the movies or prefer watching them at home? Do you talk during movies?
Luke: I would prefer watching them home because it’s more comfortable. Plus it’s not expensive. I do not talk during movies if it’s the first time someone is watching it. If it’s not the first time, I’ll discuss the movie with others while watching it. If you could choose any F1 race to go to, which one would it be?
You: I’m torn between Austin and Great Britain. I know Monaco is like the go to cause of the history and prestige of it all, but I think Austin or Great Britain would be more fun with the atmosphere. Are you into podcasts or do you only listen to music?
Luke: I only listen to music. Podcasts need more attention than what I'm willing to give than music. What is your favourite ice cream flavour?
You: Probably chocolate. What’s one thing that can instantly make your day better?
Luke: Talking to my friends. What is the phone app you use the most?
You: TikTok or Discord. How would you spend your birthday, ideally?
Luke: Spend the day casually with my friends and family, and then have a party with them at night. You said you use discord, do you play video games?
You: Yes, I do. It’s one of my favorite things to do in my free time. What video games do you play? Do you usually play single player or multiplayer?
Luke: I usually play CS:GO and F1. What video games do you play?
You: If I play multiplayer games, it’ll be Valorant. But I mainly play single player games, like Assassin’s Creed. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is one of my favorite games ever.
Luke: Which one is that one? I know they take place throughout time.
You: That one is the Greek history one. I’m super into Greek history/mythology, so I absolutely love it.
Luke: Oh that sounds cool!
You glance over at the time. “Shit, it’s already midnight,” you groan. Now that you’re not focused on responding to Luke, you realize you are struggling to keep your eyes open.
You: As much as I’d love to continue this, I just realized it’s midnight here, and I need to sleep.
Luke: Okay, sounds good! Have a good night!
You: Thank you! Have a good day!
Luke: Good night!
You: Good night!
You plug in your phone, shut off your pc, and change for bed. You crawl into bed, falling asleep quickly.

You walk purposefully to your last class of the day, holding onto the straps of your backpack like your life depended on it. New school. Old town.
It was just so noisy.
The squeak of your sneakers was drowned by the bustle of the dozens of highschoolers weaving through the hallways. Side conversations rose in volume, laughter was piercing, lockers slammed metallically, and the morning bell rang with a sharp noise.
You avoid rubbing shoulders with your peers, but inevitably a lacrosse player rams into your side while chasing a ball. You put a hand protectively to your chest, a glimmer of pain dancing across your ribs.
Breathe, you remind yourself. Just breathe.
Walking into English, you eye the rapidly filling seats. You recognize most faces even if they don’t recognize yours. A few skittish steps forward and you spot the dark silhouette of Scott McCall.
The uneven beating of your heart seems to lessen at someone you could at least talk to amicably. He appears to feel the same as he finds your gaze and smiles crookedly.
“Hey, (Y/N),” he whispers encouragingly. “It’s nice to see you finally at school.”
You smile back, “Thanks, it’s good to be out and about.” You pick the desk beside him, closest to the window. “There’s a lot of people here.”
Scott laughs, “What did you expect?”
“Less than this,” you say, thumbing the syllabus in front of you. “I thought Beacon Hills was a small city.”
You hear a cough directly behind you, fingers drumming against the metal desk surface. You flit your gaze to Scott, but he merely rolls his eyes.
“(Y/N), this is Stiles. Stiles… meet (Y/N).”
You turn in your seat to see a closely shaved head, wrinkled hoodie, and widening brown eyes.
“Uh… hi,” he says.
You swallow hard, “Hello.” Your brow furrows, “You’re Scott’s best friend.”
Stiles nods, playing with his fingers, “Yeah, for years. And you are…?”
“Another friend,” Scott interjects, “Friend of the family.”
You feel warmth as Stiles leans forward in his seat, “A friend that I’ve never heard about?”
That made your stomach clench. Of course you didn’t have many close friends, more acquaintances than anything else, but it still scared you to think you’d be judged on that fact.
“We don’t talk much,” you say quietly, turning back around.
Scott had what you hoped wasn’t a pitying look in his eye when he got distracted by neighbors ruffling through papers; then to a pencil dropping; then to a charm bracelet clanking against a desk. With each new noise his head was whipping about.
You tried to read the first page of your syllabus when a gentle tap on your shoulder startles you. You contained the jump in your heart as you turned towards Stiles.
He spoke with a soft but urgent voice, “Are you new to the town?”
“No,” you answer shortly.
“Then how come I’ve never seen you at school before?”
“I was homeschooled until this year.” The anxious fist in your stomach continues to clench further. “I’ve lived here almost all my life.”
He continues to lean forward as the teacher rose to address the class. “How do you know Scott?”
“Our parents are friends.”
“How come he’s never mentioned you before?”
You give a breathy laugh, “Do you always interrogate newcomers or is this just your usual charm?”
He finally leans back in his seat, “I like a good mystery.”
Your smiling reply makes the corner of Stiles’ mouth quirk upward, just as the teacher declares:
“Stiles, are we really going to end the day with a detention?”
Stiles looks up, frowning, “No, sir – just welcoming a new face.”
“Yes, Miss. Westbrook. I’d suggest surrounding yourself with different company. We don’t want a tainted reputation now, would we?”
Scott put a hand to his mouth, stifling a laugh as Stiles lifted his arms in silent outrage. You are stunned but feel a giggle rise in your chest.
The teacher continues, “As you all know, there indeed was a body found in the woods last night.”
The laughter in your chest dies in a cough as you replay the teachers unfeeling words in your mind.
“And I am sure your eager little minds are coming up with various macabre scenarios as to what happened. But I am here to tell you that the police have a suspect in custody, which means you can give your undivided attention to the syllabus which is on your desk outlining this semester.”
There was a collective groan, but you had already started dating the semesters projects in your academic calendar. The different books you’d be reading were some of your favorite classics: The Scarlet Pimpernel, Jane Eyre, The Count of Monte Cristo, and Sense and Sensibility.
You could already see the outline for your midterm paper on the differences between loving with sense and loving with sensibility.
Then the classroom door opened, and a pretty girl walked in with someone from the office.
“Class, this is our new student Allison Argent.”
You silently thanked the heavens that you weren’t introduced like that to the entire sophomore class. But the introduction intrigued you. Perhaps you could befriend this new student as you were somewhat new yourself.
You met her quickly by her locker after class.
“Hello,” you say in your gentle voice, “I’m (Y/N). I’m new to the school too.”
“Oh, thank god,” Allison says, “Just when I thought I’d never survive the first day.”
You grin, “New kids on the block need to stick together. How are you feeling about the move?”
“I’m used to it,” she says, leaning against the wall of lockers, “What about you?”
“Oh, I’m not new to the city, just the school. I was homeschooled before this. Jumping into the school year in January isn’t preferable, but it’s better than listening to your mom lecture about the Pythagorean theorem while doing the dishes.”
Allison laughs just as another girl walks over to introduce herself and her boyfriend. This new face, Lydia Martin, was clearly a commanding personality. And you quickly quiet yourself as she speaks to Allison.
“So, this weekend, there’s a party.”
“A party?” Allison says, taking a step closer to you.
The boyfriend, Jackson, adds, “Yeah, Friday night. You should come.”
Allison clearly didn’t want to go, judging by how she closed herself off and turned towards you. She fumbles for something to say as you note how the two popular kids never acknowledged your presence.
“Actually, we’ve already made plans for Friday night,” you say quickly, the beating of your heart increasing as Lydia made eye contact with you. “I’m helping her finish setting up her room.”
“Who are you?” Lydia asks, surveying you with her wide eyes.
Allison interjects, “This is (Y/N), she’s new to the school too.”
Lydia seems satisfied in her findings, “Pretty.” She pulls on both of your sleeves, “Let’s go to lacrosse practice.”
You panic, “Oh, no – I actually need to head to the library. The first day came with a lot of homework.” You curse the lines of judgment creasing Lydia’s brow. “I’m sorry, I need to catch up.”
“You need to pick, sweetheart. Beauty or brains. You can’t have both in this school.”
You believe that to be blatantly untrue, but you apologize again as Allison gets dragged off. You sigh, steadying your heartbeats. Your mother will be coming soon to pick you up anyway.

It was another long evening shift at the hospital working in the clinic. You assisted with logging patients in, taking their medical histories, noting their blood pressure, and administering medications.
You were currently disposing of some items in the sharps container when Nurse McCall came around with a dirty gown and gloves.
“(Y/N)!” she says cheerfully, “How are you?”
You smile, washing your hands in the nearby sink, “Tired, but that’s not unusual.”
She gave you a motherly look, eyeing you like the nurse she was. “How’s your breathing? Have you gotten lightheaded tonight?”
“Nope.” That was a lie. “I’ve been doing great. I worked through the line waiting in the clinic. Now I’ve just got to clean up before heading home.”
She raises her eyebrows, impressed. “I wish your work ethic came in a bottle. I’d give a dose to my son.”
“Oh, you should give Scott more credit. He’s working hard on the lacrosse team, I hear.”
“Have you two… has he been…”
You give a soft smile, “He’s been talking to me in class, yes. He’s been very kind to me.”
“Good,” that seems to relieve her. “I know you’re not the closest of friends but starting school in the middle of the year can’t be easy.”
“No,” you say with a sigh, “But I think I’ve made a few friends. Scott and Lydia and Allison…”
“So are you going to the party tomorrow night?”
You give a weak laugh, “I don’t think I’m made for parties, Melissa.”
“I mean,” she laughs too, “Scott is taking Allison to that party – I figured if you’re all friends now then…”
“Oh,” you compose yourself, “No, I’m not going.”
“Shame,” Melissa folds her arms, “I would’ve liked a trusted pair of eyes on my son. I tell you he’s gotten all squirrely since coming back from winter break.”
You shrug your shoulders, “I’ll check up on Allison to make sure she’s alright.”
Melissa leans over and rubs your arm, “You’ve been working like a madman since the summer. We’re all very impressed with you, (Y/N). But you have a habit of doing too much and telling us too little. You have to promise me you’ll be honest about how you’re feeling.”
You brush her off, “How many times have we had this conversation?” You take a step back, “I feel fine. The summer tuned me up. I feel I can do anything now.”
“I like the confidence,” Melissa says warmly, but she still held worry in her eyes. “I’m just looking out for you. I promised your mom.”
You grimace, “Has she been bombarding you much?”
“Nothing I can’t handle.”
The pair of you share a laugh, “I wish she’d stop worrying.”
“We all worry,” Melissa sighs, grabbing a new box of gloves for the nurses station. “That’s what happens when you have people that care about you.”
“Yeah, yeah,” you walk around her, “I gotta go before my dad waits in the urgent care drop off too long.”
“Hey, about that…” Melissa calls after your retreating form. “I was thinking about your carpool situation and maybe you and Scott could drive together. You know – so you don’t have to rely on your parents as much.”
Anything to get more independence from your parents. “I didn’t think Scott had a car.”
“No, he doesn’t. He gets rides from his friend Stiles. Maybe you could join them?” She watches your expression grow anxious, “Or you could ask your new girl friends?”
“Yeah, right,” you snort, “Lydia and Allison live on the other side of town in those big important houses with the four-car garages.”
Melissa shrugs, “Then ask the boys. Stiles is a little… odd. But he’s a good kid.”
“Thanks, Melissa,” you give her a tired smile, “I’ll see you over the weekend.” You pull out your phone as you head to clock out.
Your connected watch reports to you the steady heartbeat you’ve had during the day – just two rapid spikes. Swiping away the health report, you text Allison and wait for her replies as you head towards your father’s car.
“So you’re actually going to the party?”
“What can I say… Scott asked me.”
You smirk, “I saw that coming a million miles away.”
“Sorry about our hangout though, I was going to tell you at school tomorrow.”
“It’s alright. I’ll just get started on the chemistry homework for next week.”
“You don’t want to come with us?”
You scoff, “And be a third wheel? No thank you.”
Your dad continues a conversation about your workday as he drove out of the hospital parking lot. “Any big cases come in?”
“No, nothing particularly stressful. Maybe one guy who was nervous around needles.”
“Good,” your dad says. “I’m proud of you sweetheart. And not a single fainting in five weeks.”
You lean your head against the window, suddenly glum, “Let’s hope it continues.”

Friday comes and you’re on the couch enjoying another read of Harry Potter. You were just getting to the confession scene in the Shrieking Shack when your mother came in with a cup of herbal tea.
“You seem a little quiet today,” she says, nestling into the opposite end of the couch.
“No more than usual,” you say, sipping the honey and herb concoction. “I usually spend Friday nights reading, mom.”
She nods, stirring her tea in thought, “Yes, usually. But in the last few months you’ve been branching out. Going to public school, getting a job at the hospital, making some new friends.”
“And while that’s all terribly exciting, I still enjoy a quiet evening with my books.”
“Of course,” your mother replies, “How have you been feeling?”
“Mom,” you groan, “I feel fine!”
She sat straighter, “You have had two dizzy spells this past week. It’s not a crime to ask how you’re doing.”
You bite the inside of your cheek, “I started school this week, I’m bound to be a little stressed about that, aren’t I? When I started my job at the hospital there were a few dizzy spells in the beginning, remember?”
“Yes, but you don’t tell us about them anymore. I have to pull up your watch readings to find out.”
“What’s the point? I can’t control them all. Sometimes they happen out of the blue.”
“Precisely,” she says louder, “Which is why it’s important to monitor them for your doctor’s appointments.”
You open your book in a huff, “Can we not talk about this anymore? It always puts the house in a mood.”
Your phone buzzes with a text from Allison. Your mother peers over your shoulder to see if it was a notification from your health app.
“Allison is getting a ride home from the party,” you whisper, texting a reply, “I wonder what happened with Scott.”
“Weren’t they on a date?” your mother asks, relaxed now that she knew the cause of your phone lighting up.
You shrug, “I thought so. I’m going to check on her. I’m sure she’ll want to vent.” You get up with your book and find your sneakers. “Could I have a sleepover?”
Your mother battled the rebuttal of keeping you at home – to coddle you with her security. “As long as you have your medication I don’t see why not.”
“I can drop her off on my way to the firehouse,” your father says, adorning his firefighter t-shirt and cargo pants. It would appear he had another overnight shift.
Fifteen minutes later you were outside the Argent residence, Allison waiting by the front door to welcome you with her frustrations.
The home was tall with big, open rooms full of chandelier light. It was rich with mahogany browns and beamed ceilings. Allison was guiding you up the stairs after a quick introduction to her mother in the living room.
“I just don’t understand why he left me there,” she says with an edge, “I thought he liked me.”
“I think he does like you,” you say as you enter a beautifully decorated bedroom. “We have to remember he is a high school boy.”
Allison quirks a faint smile, “But to leave me at a strangers house… he has to know I’m new to the town. I don’t know anybody well enough to get some help! And I was not about to call my parents for a ride. That would’ve been reputation suicide.”
You clear your throat, recalling every instance your parents have carted you around, refusing to let you drive yourself. “Who gave you a ride anyway?”
“Someone named Derek Hale. He said he was a friend of Scott’s.”
You feel your uneven heartbeats pick up, “Derek Hale? He’s back in town?”
“Do you know him?”
“No, it’s just…” your mind wanders to old police reports your mother talked about and past newspapers on the dinner table. “There was a fire that burned up the Hale House years ago. Most of his family died in that fire. He hasn’t been seen for years.”
Allison crosses her arms, suddenly giving herself a kind of protective hug. “You mean, he isn’t a friend of Scott’s?”
“Not that I know of, but I’m as much of a new friend here as you are.”
“But Scott said you’re a friend of the family.”
“Yes, I do work with his mom at the hospital,” you fight to keep the Hale memories at the forefront of your mind. “But that doesn’t mean that I’ve hanged out with Scott much.”
Allison nods, still gripping her arms as creases of worry etch her face. “Why would Derek lie about being friends with Scott?”
“He didn’t try anything in the car, did he?”
“No!” she says quickly, “He was really kind, even held the door open for me. He just asked about my relationship with Scott.”
You could feel the beats in your chest stutter. They were loud in your ears, “What did you tell him?”
“Just that I met him this week. I got help from him at the veterinary clinic – I accidentally hit a dog – and he asked me to this party.”
You sit on her bed, afraid that your heart rate was increasing more, “Did Derek seem interested in just Scott?”
Allison thought about it for a few seconds before sitting in her desk chair, “Yeah, it was the only thing we talked about.”
“Which would make sense if that was the only thing you guys had in common.” You put a hand to your chest, hoping to steady yourself with some pressure. “But I still don’t think him and Scott have ever been close friends.”
“That’s slightly concerning,” she says with a shaky laugh.
You return it, trying to take a deep breath without making it too noticeable. “Other than the abrupt departure and unfortunate ride home… how are you and Scott?”
A genuine smile returns to Allison’s face, “He’s so sweet. You can just tell how nervous he is and it’s so cute. After being jumped by Lydia and her friends it was nice to meet someone more sincere.”
“Lydia can be a little overbearing,” you agree, checking your watch to see your heart rate drop to a more acceptable number. “And Scott really is a sweetheart. He can be a bit of a worrier, but I find those are the ones who care the most.”
Allison likes the calming reassurance until the sound of her mother’s voice pierced the air.
“Allison! It’s for you.”
The loudness prompts the two girls to their feet. Up on the walkway towards the staircase, the pair of you had a perfect view of the door… and the boy standing out in the cold.
“Stiles?” you say confusedly.
Allison’s mother left the door open as she returned to her spot in the living room. Stiles stood awkwardly under the porch light, “Uh… yeah, hi.”
“What’s going on?” you ask, leading the way down the stairs, “Is everything okay?”
“Is Scott okay?” Allison asks quickly, following you to the doorway.
Stiles rambled, hands on his hips, “Yeah! Yeah, Scott is fine.” His eyes lingered on you as he paused. You had an instant suspicion that he was lying. “He asked that I check up on Allison since he had to run out.”
“Well, I got home all right, no thanks to him,” she replied with a huff. “But he seemed off, like he was sick all of the sudden.”
Stiles took hold of the sudden excuse, “Yes! That’s what happened. Scott just got really sick out of nowhere, like really sick – like find me a bathroom right now kind of sick.”
You wrinkled your nose at his lack of a filter, “But you said he’s fine.”
“I mean, yeah now he’s fine,” Stiles said loudly, as if that would cover up his little slip. “He met with his mom at the hospital and she gave him some… treatment.”
Your pulse was picking up again at his obvious covering up, “You know what… I told Melissa I would stop by the hospital late tonight to get my new schedule. You just reminded me,” you smile easily, putting a hand to Allison’s arm. “Raincheck on that sleepover, I don’t want to keep Melissa up all night, especially if Scott isn’t feeling well.”
“Yeah, of course,” Allison said instantly, “And would you text me if you see Scott there?”
“Sure,” you smile, “Stiles?”
He looked to you with wide eyes, “Hm?”
“Could I get a ride?”
~~~
Stiles’ jeep was old and clanky, but in an endearing sort of way. You sat with your back more against the door than the seat, arms wrapped around yourself. Your heart hadn’t stopped beating rapidly. Any faster and you were worried about another attack.
“I’m sorry the heater doesn’t work,” Stiles said with a hint of embarrassment. He smacked the dashboard, “You look cold.”
“It’s alright,” you say quietly. You try to focus on the beats of your heart, willing them to calm down before you started to get lightheaded.
“You know what…” Stiles started to flail his arms around the wheel, trying to remove his suit jacket. He banged his head against the door before straightening out, “Here.”
You look at the outstretched jacket with endearment before quietly taking it, “Thank you.” You were much more graceful putting the jacket on, smiling at how Stiles mistook your concentration on your heart rate for being cold and uncomfortable.
“Now you need to tell me where Scott really is,” you say in your gentle tone.
Stiles suddenly gripped the steering wheel, “What do you mean?”
“I mean, Scott isn’t really at the hospital. And I know something is going on with Derek Hale because he lied to Allison. And I have a funny suspicion that you know more than you were telling us.”
There was a twitch in his fingers as Stiles thought about how much to reveal, “You’re right. Something’s wrong with Scott. I don’t know exactly what, but I think he ran off and got lost in the woods.”
“He didn’t give you any hint as to why he would do that?”
“He’s just been acting weird the last few days,” Stiles continued, driving slowly. “When I saw him leave tonight and Allison get picked up… I went after him. But he ran away.”
You wrap the suit jacket closely around you, giggling at how the wide shoulders stuck out on your own frame. It smelled wonderful.
“This calls for a search party.”
Stiles looked worried and frantic again, perhaps still hiding parts of the truth from you. “You don’t mind wandering the roads by the woods? I could still take you…”
“No, I want to help,” you say against your better judgement. Your heart rate still hadn’t gone down. “Let’s start on the north side closest to where the party was at.”
It was already past midnight by the time you started scouting the woods. You kept your eyes out the window, tightly bound in Stiles’ jacket. Your heart rate remained high, the lack of proper oxygen to your brain was starting to make you feel woozy.
Your mother was not going to be happy when she checked your watch monitor.
“Hey, you alright?” Stiles asked, “You need to sleep?”
You shook your head, wincing at the slow motion feeling it produced. “No, I can stay awake.”
“It’s not a problem, really. I can drop you off at home.”
“That’ll waste time when we could be searching.” You sit up straighter in an attempt to expand your lungs. “I just need to take a breath.”
Stiles kept looking towards you just as much as he was looking in the surrounding forests. “How close are you and Scott?”
“Not very,” you say, “I’ve met him a couple times with his mom. Our parents are closer than we are.”
“And you’ve lived here most of your life and yet I’ve never met you before.”
You smile, trying to anchor yourself in your surroundings. It was another attempt to control your heart rate.
The smell of Stiles’ jacket. The rough road beneath the tires. The stale, cold air of the jeep. The sound of Stiles’ investigative voice.
“I don’t get out much.”
He laughed, “Then why the sudden change?”
“I felt like it.”
“Woman of many words,” he smirked, “You said you knew Derek Hale lied to Allison. What do you know about the guy?”
You sigh, “Just a little about his past with the house fire. My mom was a part of the dispatch call that handled the case.”
“Wait, did you just say a dispatch call?” Stiles jumped in his seat, “As in, your mom is a police officer?”
“No,” you laugh at his quick movements, “She works at the front desk helping transfer calls between civilians and officers. She hasn’t been on the active force in many years.”
Stiles had a comical scrunch on his face as he thought for a few seconds, “Your mom is Angela Westbrook? Front desk Westbrook?”
You nod, a strange furrow in your brow, “And you know her because?”
“Because my dad is the town sheriff!”
“You’re a Stilinski?”
Stiles had a shock of energy zip through him, “Yes, a Stilinski! I can’t believe our parents work together.”
“Your dad has been to my house a few times,” you say, amazed at the connections. “I wonder why he never mentioned me.”
“I guess I knew Mrs. Westbrook had a daughter, I just didn’t realize we were the same age.”
The hours ticked by as the pair of you searched the woods by the road. You both thought you’d seen some flashlights and decided to avoid them. Stiles came up with the idea to search by foot away from the woods for a mile or so.
“Are you sure that’s a good idea?”
“Yeah, I’ve got a spare flashlight in the back,” he unbuckled his seatbelt.
You sit straighter, “I mean, wasn’t there a dead body found out there earlier this week?”
“The police are handling it.” He steps out of the car to grab his flashlight.
You stay where you are, uncomfortable with the idea of standing up when your heart rate was so close to an attack. You were lightheaded enough that the rush of standing would not bode well.
Stiles came around the other side with an exaggerated expression on his face as he opened your car door. “Forgotten how to use the handle?”
“No, I’m just…” you tug on the jacket sleeves. “I’m a little lightheaded to be honest.”
“What do you mean?” his face fell into concern immediately, “Is something wrong?”
You smile shakily, “Not at all,” you lie through your teeth. “Just be prepared to catch me if I fall.”
Stiles seemed to take that with the most seriousness as he backed up and held out a hand, “I got you.”
You struggle to breathe as you clamber out of the vehicle. You hold tightly to Stiles’ outstretched hand and wait for the inevitable feeling of the blood rushing to your legs. Your head felt empty, and stars started to twinkle in front of your eyes.
Stiles held onto your hand and put an arm around your shoulders as you swayed, “Woah, you weren’t kidding. You alright?”
After a few seconds leaning into him, squeezing his fingers with light pressure, your breaths started to come easier. Your head became clearer.
“Yeah, I’m fine. Thanks.” You let go of him, checking your watch to see that your heart rate decreased to an acceptable amount.
Stiles backed away quickly, rubbing his hands awkwardly down his pants. He was hesitant to look at you when he replied, “No problem. Does that happen a lot?”
“Oh, you know…” you start venturing towards the tree line, “People get head rushes when they sit too long all the time.”
“Right,” Stiles said faintly, jogging to catch up to you. He clicked on the flashlight and aimed it towards the trees. It was dark and misty and cold. The pair of you kept hearing rustlings between the tree roots and bumping into each other.
You could have sworn you heard howls and growls, but it must’ve been the wind.
“Can I ask why you weren’t at the party?”
“You can, but the answer is boring.” You cross your arms, the too long sleeves engulfing your hands. “I don’t go to parties.”
“Because?”
“Because they make me lightheaded,” you say with a smile.
Stiles tried to pick that apart, but smiled, nonetheless. “You know the more I try to get to know you, the more confusing you become.”
“I thought you liked a good mystery.”
“I do,” Stiles confirmed, shining his flashlight up through tree branches, “I don’t like not knowing things.”
“Sorry, I’m a pretty tightly sealed book,” you shrug, “I can be very evasive.”
“And I can be very persuasive,” Stiles mocked, using a silly voice.
You bump into him again, sort of on purpose and less because you tumbled on a stray twig. “You already know plenty about me.”
“Let’s check the list, shall we?” he chuckled, “You were homeschooled. Your mom works at the station. You suffer from frequent lightheadedness. You don’t get out of the house much. And you’re already a part of the pretty girls club.”
“Excuse me?” you laugh, “The pretty girls club?”
Stiles kicked at the leaves, “Yeah, you know Lydia, Allison… you.”
“Stiles Stilinski, did you just call me pretty?”
He comically puffed out his chest, “In a roundabout way, yes I did.”
You chortle, “See you know a lot about me already. We’ve only known each other three days.”
“You’ll find I can be very determined, (Y/N),” Stiles sighed, “I’ll figure you out soon enough.”
They continued their way through the woods until they came back to the car. It did not go unnoticed that Stiles went to help you open the door and climb into the tall vehicle.
The morning light was starting to peek over the horizon by the time they got back to the roads. The pair of them were starting to grow more worried by the minute. It wasn’t a friendly search party anymore.
“I hope he’s okay,” you say quietly.
Stiles looked your way before resting his hand against the stick shift between you. “We’ll find him. Or he’ll text me as soon as he gets to a phone.”
You lean towards the dashboard, “I guess we’ll find him first.”
Walking along the side of the road, pants covered in dirt and his shirt missing, was Scott. He looked ruffled.
“What happened to him?” Stiles murmured as he pulled over.
“What happened to his shirt?” you say just as quietly. Stiles shot you a look as you strip yourself of his suit jacket.
Scott came to the door and looked shocked to see you handing over the coat. “(Y/N)?”
“Scott,” you say with a smile, “Get in.”
You scoot over to be in the middle. Stiles immediately yanked his arm away as your thigh got in the way of how he was resting his hand on the stick shift. You rubbed shoulders again as Scott got comfortable.
“Long night?” you ask.
Scott rubs at his eyes, banging his head against the window, “You have no idea.” He suddenly turns to you, pressing into your side, “How is Allison?”
“She’s fine,” you say, “I’m a little more worried about you.”
“You know what actually worries me the most?” he grumbles.
Stiles licks his lips, “If you say Allison, I’m gonna punch you in the head.”
“She probably hates me now,” Scott frowns, turning to you with regretful eyes.
You take pity on him, rubbing his shoulder, “She’s upset with you, but she doesn’t hate you.”
“But you might want to come up with a pretty amazing apology,” Stiles says candidly.
Scott groans, leaning against the headrest. You sit scrunched between them, almost scared to lean into either one. “I hear you were really sick last night. Though I don’t see how that explains your lack of clothing.”
“Night sweats,” Scott mumbles, “When I couldn’t sleep through it at home I decided to take a walk through the woods.”
“That’s a long walk,” you say, “Don’t worry, I’ll put a good word in for you with Allison.”
“Would you?” Scott says, looking at you like you were the answer to all of his prayers. “Could you make sure she knows how sorry I am?”
You pull out your phone to send that update text you promised her. “As long as you apologize in person too, I don’t see why not.”
“You’re an angel, (Y/N), thank you.” He bows his shaggy head to your shoulder before pouting against the headrest again.
“Could you drop me off a few blocks from my house? My parents think I’m sleeping over at Allison’s.”
Stiles nods, “Protective parents?”
“A little,” you smile.
“I’ll add that to the list,” he smirks. “I’ll have to open a full case file on you now.”
“That’ll be a dead end.”
Scott opens his eyes to peer at the pair of you, “Sounds like you two had as long of a night as I have.”
You yawn, “Stilinski here is trying to play high school detective. He’s on a role trying to figure out my criminal past.”
“Criminal you say,” Stiles drums his fingers against the steering wheel. “That’ll mean I need a corkboard and some red thread too.”
“What have you found out so far?” Scott muses, somewhat enjoying the change of subject.
“Not much.” Then Stiles points a finger at his best friend, “But you’ve known her longer than me – fess up. What do you know?”
Scott holds back a smile, “Did you figure out her mom works at your dads station?” After a swift nod he continues, “And that her dad is a firefighter?”
“Really?” Stiles says dramatically, “Any siblings?”
“Only child,” Scott continues, rubbing the tired from his eyes, “And she loves to read. Every time I saw her, she was always reading something.”
Stiles had a look of triumph on his face, as if it were a breakthrough in the case, “What book you reading right now?”
“Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.” You point the directions to your street, “I’m at the end when Lupin turns into a werewolf.”
“A what?” Scott says, shooting forward.
The friendly banter between you and Stiles suddenly shifts into surprise, “A werewolf. Haven’t you seen the movies?”
“Right,” he swallows hard, “It’s been a while.”
Stiles licks his lips again, “It’s ironic because last night was the full moon.”
“Oh, was it?” you hum, “That’s funny.”
~~~
You sleep off most of the weekend, having a lecture from your parents about the heart rate spike on Friday. You told them a night of rom coms and silly boy stories with Allison got you excited – that it was all fun and games.
You didn’t tell them you almost fainted because of it.
The next week was more enjoyable than the last. You excelled in your classes and spent your lunch periods reading in the library – you were already halfway through Sense and Sensibility for your midterm report.
Chemistry, History, and English were your favorite, most likely because your new friends were in those classes. Scott had become infatuated with Allison, especially after she had given him a second chance. Lydia was scheming something over her boyfriend being the captain of the lacrosse team. And Stiles was quickly becoming your highlight of each day.
He’d sit beside you during class and ask a personal question. “At least one a day,” he wagered, “I can ask at least one a day and get an answer.”
“As long as I reserve rights to refuse to answer any question.”
“I’m going to add those refusals to your case file.”
You’d roll your eyes, “Whatever you say, Stilinski.”
You were proud of the fact you hadn’t had another heart rate scare since the week before, meaning your body was adapting to the new stressful environment at school. That didn’t stop Stiles from insinuating you were going to have a lightheaded moment whenever you rose from your seat.
You never noticed how he prepared himself to grab you whenever you’d been sitting too long.
Chemistry had come around later in the week, you having arrived early to prepare the days experiment. Goggles adorning your face, you lit the Bunsen burner and tightened a flask of a chemical liquid above it.
Stiles skid over, sliding on his sneakers, “Hey, partner.” He threw his bag down and took the goggles you hand to him. He snaps them onto his face with a sharp, “ow.”
“I’ve started filling out the notes,” you say, observing how the liquid was starting to bubble with heat. “Why are you late?”
“I’m not late, you’re just early.” He sits on the stool beside you, resting his crossed arms on the tabletop. “Where were you at lunch today?”
You put a thermometer in the liquid, waiting for the right temperature, “In the library.”
“Is that where you always eat lunch?”
“You can’t eat food in the library, Stilinski.”
Stiles rubs at his nose fidgetily, “Scott and I were looking for you today.”
You pause, warmth filling your chest as you pour granules into the bubbling vial. “Sorry, I was reading for my book report.”
“(Y/N), book reports aren’t due for weeks.”
“Might as well get it done so we don’t have to worry about it,” you hum, writing down observations about the chemical reaction.
Stiles slumps a little, “Well, we missed you.”
“Scott just wants to gossip about what Allison thinks of him.”
“And what’s my excuse?”
You turn off the burner and remove the vial with tongs, “You’re trying to question me to continue your investigation.”
He sighs out a smile, “You’re right, of course. I haven’t asked you my question of the day yet.”
“I suppose I have no choice but to answer one,” you sigh with a smile on your face. “What do you have for me today?”
He was playing with his fingers when he asks, “Why do you spend lunch in the library rather than in the lunchroom with everyone else?”
You think about your answer carefully as you put away your supplies and let the vial cool down. “I don’t like being around a lot of people.”
“Why?” he presses.
You grab his goggles and snap them against his face, “Because it makes me lightheaded.”
He yelps and sways on his stool, “I’m beginning to think ‘lightheaded’ is code for something else.” He yanks the goggles from his face, and you snort at the deep lines they left around his eyes.
“Hey, there’s a science project that we need partners for,” you say as a way to change the subject. “Do you want to do it together?”
“(Y/N), we don’t have to do that project until the end of the semester.” He smiles at your antics of avoiding his questioning.
You shrug, “I like getting things done.”
He takes a deep breath, “Alright, at least I know I won’t fail the class if you’re helping me with the final project.”
After class the pair of you separate for final period, you heading to a different floor and running into someone at the bottom of the staircase. Someone tall and dark with light eyes.
That someone you recognize as Derek Hale.
You freeze on the last few steps, holding onto your backpack and feeling your heart beat unevenly again.
“You’re Derek.”
His face was cool and solemn, “What do you know about Scott McCall?”
“Why should I tell you?” Your arms erupt in goosebumps.
He steps closer, “Because I’m trying to help him. He needs to get it through his skull that I am not the enemy here. I need your influence in this.”
You hold back a scoff, fear overtaking that, “What business do you have with helping Scott?”
“Do you not know?” his eyes suddenly darken, “I thought you were one of his friends.”
“I am his friend,” you reply, “And I know people are suspicious of you.” A seed of doubt creeps up your spine, “I don’t like that a shady adult is creeping around the halls of a high school looking to make connections with students.”
He growls, actually growls much to your surprise. “I need you to tell Scott that I am here to help. I am innocent in whatever he thinks I’ve done.”
“What does he think you’ve done?” you ask quickly as Derek backs off.
“I can hear your uneven heart,” he says, turning around, “You should calm yourself.”
You put a hand to your chest, mouth agape at his retreating form. How the hell can he hear your heartbeat? A thrum of fear ripples through you as you run for your last class. You check the monitor on your watch until your heart rate was controlled before entering.
You didn’t see any of your friends until the next day. You were reading in the library over lunch again, finishing Sense and Sensibility and planning your report. You keep getting distracted by the whole situation with Derek and Scott.
What had the adult meant by befriending Scott? Why were you approached? What secret does Scott have that you didn’t know about?
You squeal as someone launches themselves over the library couch and sits beside you. Your cushion bounces as your heart leapt.
“Stiles!” you cry, “Don’t startle me like that!”
He nudges your shoulder, “Sorry, we were looking for you.”
Scott came around and sat on the arm of the couch, “It’s lunch.”
“Yes,” you say, “And I’m working on stuff in the library like I do every day.”
“No,” Stiles says, closing your book and stealing your pencil, “You’re going to join us for lunch today.”
You fight to get the pencil back, “I think I’ll just finish my report here.”
“(Y/N), there aren’t that many people in the lunchroom,” Scott says quietly, “And you’ll have us there.”
You stare Stiles down, “Did you tell Scott about my thing with lots of people?”
He shrugs sheepishly, “Come on, let’s go.” He waits as you stand, picking up your backpack for you. Scott led the way, nervous by how he wrung his hands.
“Has Allison talked about me lately?”
You shove his arm, “Scott, I can’t tell you everything we say during girl talk.”
“Girl talk?” Scott says in a panic, “I didn’t know about girl talk.”
“Yes, it’s where we drop all our juiciest secrets,” you snicker, “Including our thoughts on certain cute boys.” Scott points at himself, eyebrows raised, making you laugh. “Yes, Allison has been saying good things about you.”
Stiles matches your stride, “What about me?”
You look at him with a wide smile before leaning into Scott with another laugh.
“What? I’m a cute boy,” Stiles says, flabbergasted. “Aren’t I?”
They walk into the lunchroom that was still full of students. You spot Allison and Lydia sitting at the popular lacrosse table. Stiles, your backpack still on his shoulder, nudges you to one of the front tables.
Sitting down, Scott kept peering over at the back of Allison’s head. “See it’s not so bad in here, (Y/N).”
The patter of your heart would say differently, but you sit next to Stiles, nonetheless, pulling out your book report.
“I did mean to come talk to you guys about something that happened yesterday.” The boys lean in, eager for any strange story. “Derek Hale came to talk to me.”
Stiles slips out of his chair and crashes to the ground; Scott was stunned, “Derek Hale? Where?”
“On my way to my last class yesterday. He was waiting for me at the bottom of the stairs.”
Stiles crawls back onto his chair, winded, “He was inside the school? What did he want?”
You shrug, twiddling your pencil, “He wanted me to convince Scott that he was a friend. He said he was innocent, whatever that means.”
The boys share a look. You start outlining your report, “And I don’t know why but I think I believe him.”
“No, (Y/N), listen…” Stiles pulls on your shoulder so you would face him. “You cannot trust that guy. Whatever you do, do not be alone with him again, got it?”
“I don’t get it, why?”
Stiles licks his lips, urgent in the way he looks at you, “You need to trust me on this. If he tries to talk to you again, call me.”
“I would if I had your number,” you laugh. The boys pull out their phones immediately to exchange numbers. You snort at their seriousness, “If you wanted my number that bad you could’ve just asked instead of coming up with this elaborate Derek Hale story.”
“We’re not making it up,” Scott says, “That guy is dangerous.”
~~~
At the end of the week you were busy with your shift at the hospital. You had just finished checking on Jackson Whittemore who had a dislocated shoulder, and you were logging notes into the computer at the nurses station.
You were just updating a patient file when a hand slams onto the counter. You jump, clutching your chest.
“Jesus Christ, Stiles!”
Stiles was shocked at seeing you there, “Do you work here?”
“Yes, and for the love of god please announce your presence like every other normal human being and stop scaring the ever living daylights out of me!” It was a good thing they were in a hospital because your heart was about to give out.
“Sorry, sorry,” he says with wide eyes. He rubs at his face, hiding a smile, “This is how you know Scott’s mom so well.”
“Yeah, add it to my case file,” you wave a hand, fixing your scrub top, “Why are you here?”
His eyes linger at something on your chest, making him stutter, “Um… Scott and I were uh… coming to check up on Jackson.”
“That’s right, you’re all on the lacrosse team. I heard it was Scott that knocked Jackson’s shoulder out of place.”
“That would be correct,” Stiles laughs nervously, scratching at the back of his head. “Is he alright?”
You smirk, nodding towards the end of the hallway, “See for yourself.”
Lydia had come to pick Jackson up, and the pair of them were currently making out in the middle of the hall. You turn away, slightly nauseous, but Stiles keeps observing like he’s never seen a kiss before.
“She’s never been subtle,” you grimace.
His mind seemingly elsewhere, Stiles fumbles for something to occupy himself with as he waits. He picks up a pamphlet on the menstrual cycle.
“Where is Scott?”
Stiles was stuck on a diagram of the uterus, “Hm?”
“Scott,” you say again, staring at the pamphlet cover, “I thought you said you were both looking for Jackson.”
“He went to find his mom first.”
You squint your eyes, “Melissa’s shift ended two hours ago.”
“Could you explain to me the function of the fallopian tubes?”
You snatch the pamphlet away from him, “What are you two hiding?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Stiles says nervously, “Don’t you have other patients to see or something?”
“First Derek Hale is telling me that Scott is keeping a secret and then you’re here covering for Scott while he snoops…”
“Who said anything about snooping?”
You stand from your chair, leaning towards the counter and Stiles, “Listen, I’m glad we’re finally friends. I like you guys. But I won’t be lied to forever. I deserve better than that.”
Stiles feels his chest collapse a little, sinking in on himself. “I could say the same thing about you. You’re always keeping things to yourself and giving vague answers to my questions. What do you have to hide, hm?”
A pang of hurt hit your chest, “Stiles, I’ve never lied to you about anything. If I don’t want to answer a question outright because it’s too personal, I tell you so. I’ve never hid something from you deliberately by lying to you.”
Stiles bit his tongue, folding his arms defensively.
You let the hurt show on your face, “I think you and Scott have been lying to me for a long time. About the party that Scott ran out on. About why you checked up on Allison last week. About your trust issues with Derek Hale. About what you and Scott are doing in the hospital right now…”
The will to argue was gone in Stiles, he just looks defeated as he watches the hurt fill your face. “It’s been for your own protection.”
“What the hell is that supposed to mean?” you whisper angrily.
Scott suddenly appears by the counter, out of breath. “Hey…” he saw your face, “Oh, hey what’s up?”
“Find what you were looking for?” you ask sourly before returning to your keyboard.
Scott shares a look with Stiles before muttering, “Yeah, uh… Jackson’s alright.”
“He left a few minutes ago.”
Stiles turns around to see that Lydia and Jackson really had left. He tugs on Scott’s arm and gave an imploring look towards you.
“I promise we’ll explain everything eventually.”
You keep looking at your computer screen, ignoring the words. Stiles flickers his eyes to what he noticed on your chest, just along the edge of your scrubs. Scott knits his brow as he listens to what was unmistakably the uneven pounding of your rising heart rate.
Stiles led the way to the elevators, cursing himself and smashing the downward button.
“What was that about?” Scott whispers.
“(Y/N)’s mad at me,” he rubs at his eyes harshly, “Mad at us. She knows we’re hiding stuff from her.”
“For her own good.”
“Yeah, but she sees it as us lying to her. I don’t blame her for being upset. We’ve been pretty crappy friends keeping her at arm’s length.”
Scott frowns, walking into the elevator, “You forget that keeping her in the dark keeps her safe.”
“Well, not anymore with Derek roping her into it.” He leans against the wall, holding tight to the railing. “Did you notice the scar on her chest?”
“No,” Scott says, “But I did notice her heartbeat. It was all over the place. She must’ve been really upset.”
Stiles takes a deep breath, “Did you find anything in the morgue?”
~~~
The next evening you drove with your mother back to the hospital. You were still aching with the argument you had with Stiles. You knew something was going on between him and Scott, but you still didn’t know what.
Your mother sensed your mood and said in a cheery voice, “We made an arrest today about that woods murder.”
“Did you?” you say in a quiet tone.
“Yeah, Derek Hale. He’s been back in town for a couple weeks. I guess there was evidence on his burnt property.”
You close your eyes, thinking back to the warning about Hale. “Good thing you got him.”
“And then I got a strange call on dispatch today from the Sheriff’s son.”
“Stiles?” you say.
She hums, “He’s one strange kid.”
“Does he call dispatch often?”
“He’s not allowed to anymore, but he did call today about a dog sighting.”
You shake your head, “You’re right, he can be real strange.”
“Are you sure you can’t make the big game tonight?” your mother asks. “Everyone is going, even the Sheriff.”
“I can’t. I’m helping on Melissa’s floor since she took it off to see the game.”
“That’s right,” she replies, “Shame. I’m sure your friends would’ve liked to see you in the stands.”
You turn in your seat, staring your mother down, “I thought you’d object to me watching a heart racing game surrounded by loud, rowdy people, standing in the frigid cold air.”
She shrugs, “You’ve been proving yourself capable of handling your heart rate, even when it’s the spur of the moment.”
A sudden warmth creeps up your chest. Your mother was starting to trust you despite the illnesses. It was just enough of a mood shift to prompt you to text Scott and Stiles good luck at the game.
The shift was long and grueling; you were exhausted by the end of it. Another medical assistant drove you home late, no doubt long after the lacrosse game was over. You made a mental note to commend Melissa for handling such a difficult floor of the hospital.
Your mom had been called away because of a case update and your father was on an overnight shift at the firehouse again. You were quick to shower the nights worth of patient grime off your body and throw your scrubs right into the washer.
You were just applying lotion in your pajamas when something hit the glass of your window. Startled, you stood from your bed and waited for it to happen again.
A small pebble flew through the air and pings against your window.
Peering through the glass, you saw a disheveled, sweatshirt-wearing Stiles holding a handful of your garden rocks. He waves at you shyly as you struggle to slide the window open.
“What are you doing?”
Stiles holds up his hands, “Seeing if you were awake.”
“And you couldn’t think to text?” you say incredulously, “Put those rocks back.”
He threw his handful of rocks on your mothers tulips, “My phone died like an hour ago.”
You stood there, leaning on your windowsill, regarding him with a soft expression. He looks tired and scared, eyes looking up and imploring as he stuffs his hands in his pockets.
“Then what’s up?” you ask.
He swallows hard, the cold air making his breath come out in icy clouds. “I wanted to talk… about what you said yesterday.”
“How did you know where I live? You dropped me off at the end of the street, remember?”
“Well, yeah,” he chuckles, “And I just watched you walk to this house.” He scratches the back of his head, “Or maybe I looked up your mom on my dad’s computer and found her employee records.”
You nod your head slowly, “That sounds about right.”
“Can I… Can I come up?”
You bite at your lips, hair still wet from the shower. “Sure.”
It was like letting a dog off a leash. Stiles frantically jumps to the garden trellis growing on the front of your house. He struggles past the vines and up the wooden ladder, ignoring your calls of disapproval. He was huffing and puffing by the time he made it to the roof and next to your window.
“Stiles,” you say in your gentle voice, “My parents aren’t home. You could’ve come through the front door.”
His mouth was dry from panting in the cold night air, “Right, but that wouldn’t have been as impressive.”
You watch his fumbling figure fall from the window and onto your carpeted floor, “Yeah, that was real impressive, Stilinski.”
There was only a side table lamp on, lighting the bedroom in a soft peachy glow. You went to sit cross-legged on your bed, patting the covers in front of you for Stiles to sit.
He fixes his shirt, taking your offer before looking you in the eye. “(Y/N), I wanted to say that I was sorry.”
You look towards your hands, playing with the edge of your comfy pajama shirt. You could smell the fruity scent of your lotion still on your fingers.
“I didn’t realize our covering up was so obvious to you. We just wanted to protect you, but I guess it does seem like we betrayed your trust.” He keeps his eyes on you, waiting for you to look at him again, “When I got your good luck text I thought maybe there was still a chance you weren’t super angry with me.”
“Just a little,” you say quietly, giving him a soft smile.
“I wanted to tell you some things that we’ve been hiding from you,” he holds his hands up, “As a peace offering.”
You shake your head, “How generous of you.”
“The body that was found in the woods… Scott and I found it. Us visiting the hospital? That was Scott and I trying to find evidence on the partial body. Derek Hale? He had been seen on the property where we found the other half of the body. He was also in the woods with the first half. We were suspicious of him, and he was basically stalking us because of it.”
You listen carefully, your heartbeat was loud in your ears. “And when he came to talk to me?”
“That terrified us. We thought he was a murderer, and he was talking to you… alone.”
“You thought? My mom told me he was arrested today for the murder.”
Stiles rubs at his face with a tired hand, “Not anymore. The coroner’s said the cause of death was from an animal attack. And the victim was Laura Hale – Derek’s sister.”
“Must be nice having your dad be the sheriff,” you smile. “So Derek’s innocent like he told me he was.”
“I still don’t trust him. He’s not telling us everything. And since we’ve gotten him thrown in jail, my guess is he’s not very happy with us.”
You nod, your head clearer than it was at the beginning of the week.
“Is that everything you’ve been hiding?”
Stiles licks his lips, a nervous habit you’re realizing. “Do you remember when you said you don’t lie, you’re just honest about not sharing the whole truth?” At your nod he continues, “There is one more thing, but it’s not fully my thing to tell. We want to tell you, but it’s not exactly safe at the moment.”
You take the cryptic words and stew with them for a while. “Apology accepted.”
He let out a deep breath, “Thank goodness. Scott would have never forgiven me if we lost our one connection to the pretty girls club.”
You punch his shoulder and laugh, “The one thing I’m good for… gossip from the girls.”
Stiles rubs his shoulder, “That’s not why we want you around.” He clears his throat at your sudden undivided attention, “What I mean is… you’ve been a good friend, and we like you.”
“You and Scott,” you smile.
“Yeah, me and Scott.”
“Scott and I,” you correct, brushing the wet hair from your face, “How was the game?”
Stiles sat more relaxed on your bed, “It was great, we won. And there weren’t any injuries like Jackson’s.”
“Good,” you smile, “And Scott had a pretty victorious after party, so I’ve heard.”
“Allison texted you?” Stiles questions.
You shrug, “Of course. She said you were watching like a little pervert.”
Stiles chokes on his gasp, “I am not…”
“You were watching Lydia and Jackson too. There’s a trend I’m noticing,” you tease.
He shoves your crossed knee, relishing in your laugh, “Very funny.” He eyes the neckline of your pajama top, searching for the edge of the scar he noticed yesterday. “Can I ask you my one personal question of the day?”
“Fine,” you sigh, “Ask away.”
“Where did you get that scar?” he nods towards your chest.
You immediately clam up, covering the spot protectively. “I got it over the summer.”
Stiles raises his eyebrows, egging you on, “How?”
“I had a surgery.” You watch the concern begin to etch into Stiles’ face. “I don’t like talking about it.”
He bit the inside of his cheek, blinking rapidly as he tries to compute the information, “But you’re okay now. The surgery helped you be… healthy?”
“For the most part,” you say quietly, “The surgery did help me be healthier.” You could already see the cogs turning in his mind. He was going to head home and research what surgeries would leave scars like that on the side of the chest.
His eyes wander your room for a minute before landing on your nightstand. There were three different sized prescription pill bottles resting there. He returns his gaze to you, but didn’t ask further questions, “So I was thinking… how about I give you rides to school from now on.”
You let out an anxious smile, grateful he didn’t press you about your health problems. “Honestly, that would be great.”
“Good,” he seems pleased with himself, “And in return for gas money, you come to our lacrosse games.”
You outstretch a hand, “Deal.”
Stiles takes your hand to shake and instantly blurts, “You smell really good.”
You laugh, “I did just shower.”
He awkwardly lets go of your hand, standing from the bed, “No, you always smell good.”
“Thanks Stilinski.”

you're so real for that post about liam though, bc as soon as i was done jumping around my living room in excitement about max winning the wdc, i checked where liam finished and couldn't help but feel so angry bc what has liam proven over daniel?? he's been outpaced by yuki by a huge margin and is always getting into some sort of incident with others on track (he touched esteban's car today) and yet f1tv were trying to praise his performance today when in reality he's an average driver.
The thing with him is that I could have accepted if he was the choice for 2025. If the end result was them reverting to a "junior team” and Lawson getting the seat, so be it. If that had meant the end of Daniel's career in F1 I would have been mad at Red Bull for still ultimately screwing him over but I would have enjoyed the hell out of those last 6 races and celebrated him, his career, and the joy he brought to so many people. I honestly probably could've gotten over being angry at Red Bull and wouldn't care about Lawson one iota because even now my feeling about him there in 2025 is...good luck (and he'll be there in 2025). He can have that seat and whatever unfortunate end comes with it because the trajectory of that team and anyone in it does not look promising. I hope for his sake he learns from others and doesn't hitch his wagon to the Red Bull dream because historically that has panned out well for very few drivers.
What I'm mad about (now and forevermore) is this season and the insistence that Daniel HAD to be replaced with 6 races left. I'm mad that they claimed he wasn't performing consistently to the standard they wanted but is also the only driver held to any such standard. I'm mad that the response from the media to literally every other driver struggling is, "oh you just have to feel for him" when Daniel was the subject of a witch hunt the entire season. I'm mad that they drove him out of this sport and did so quite gleefully. I'm mad that they continue to rewrite his career and accomplishments and erase his very existence within the Red Bull team and "family". I'm mad that he should've gotten to end his career on the track in Abu Dhabi at the end of the season with friends, family, former colleagues and with fireworks and burnouts and celebration for him and his career and what he brought to the sport but instead his career ended in Singapore in the dark of parc ferme as he sat alone struggling to get out of the car while fireworks popped in the distance celebrating someone else. All so lawson could get 2 points in 4 races for "the good of the team's future".
#ask#anon you did not ask for all of this but i got your message and then went on a 9 mile hike and seethed for about 4.5 of those miles#This is the condensed version of the monologue that every rock and tree and creature on that trail got to hear this morning#I hate thinking that this ruined daniel's love of F1 but I really think it probably did#And i live in fear of getting the dts episode bc i know we're not going to get any red bull slander in it#but i'm afraid of what daniel will say about himself and his career and what he feels about the future in it#N E W A Y#it wasn't worth it and daniel deserved better is the tldr of all this

does this mean you’re writing s5…?
Kay so, I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to rewrite all the way to s6, I have a lot of ideas and thoughts for them (especially s6, I’ve actually set some stuff up just in case already for that)
The thing is that I’m still trying to figure out if I can actually geniuenly pull enough from those messes of plots and cool concepts to make something I am satisfied with.
So, I would love to write s5 and s6 but I still need to check if it’s actually possible
