The age-old classic story of lover girl and hater boy. No but for real I have a lot of thoughts on these two and the factors of their stories that could intersect into something fascinating

We need some whisperedfaith stuff in here, I've looked and found nothing. So maybe some headcanons for Sean or Lee like with a partner or just general?
of course!! my fav is Sean, so I'll write some for him :)
Sean/Shiny Headcanons
Tumblr media
-He's actually like,,, a MASSIVE loser lmao. He tries to appear like this sadistic, cold, and manipulative cult leader, but in reality he's just a really desperate junkie. Which in a sense, he is a junkie; he's addicted to the Speaker. Like Lee said in the 'Interrogation' video, he has been listening to the Speaker's whispering in his ear for so damn long, he's addicted to it. Now, i'm not sure what the Speaker could be saying, since from Lee's experience, it was torturous, but for Sean i think it would be the opposite. So i guess the headcanon is: the Speaker feeds Sean's ego, showering him with complimentd about how good of a leader he is, or how strong he is, or anything that would appeal to him, and that's how he keeps Sean under his control.
And that makes sense, because it's the Speaker, it's an honour to even be spoken to by him, and he's getting all these compliments? He must be doing something right, he must be special.
-Also, here's just my theory/HC on why Sean of all the members got to be the cult leader: i think that Sean was the easiest to influence. I believe that as a person, he was always a bit egotistical. That might be because of childhood, or him having to harden up for some reason, (i'm too tired to make a whole theory about his childhood sorry 😭) but i think even before the cult he would act very guarded. Like he would have walls up every second as to not get hurt.
So when he learned about the The Family, he thought, 'maybe that's where i belong'. And his goal from the start would have been to be the leader, to be worshipped and loved. So he came in that cult with determination, he was hard and would do anything the higher ups told him, even hurting people if needed. So The Speaker noticed him, and he thought, 'that's my target'. His ego is easy to feed, and therefore, easy to manipulate. So The Speaker fed him with compliments, making him believe he was the chosen one.
-I actually think Sean's story is really damn sad, but also he kinda deserved it. The man left all of his family and friends, wanting to feel loved and worshiped by someone. With the delusions added on by the other cultists, he was completely blind. Although, of course, nothing is black and white, and i'm sure he knew what he was doing. He was aware he was hurting people, people that trusted him, but he didn't care, and was blinded by greed and hunger for praise. Which in hindsight, made him hated by his followers. He was rude, pretentious, and arrogant. He believed he was the Chosen, the One, the man who would create portals between worlds, and The Speaker's favourite.
But in the end, that was all in vain. Because when he was gone, he was replaced. Lexx took over, and clearly she was more loved than him. So he grew bitter, and angry, even after death. Even in 'Limbo', he was bitter and lonely. I guess that was his fate from the start.
alright sorry for the rambling :) this was actually very fun to write, although ik this post won't get much traction due to how unpopular WF is,,, but it was fun anyway. thank you for the request!🖤

i wanna hear about sean/mo
OH MY GODS YES OKAY.
spoilers for whispered faith, a youtube series that has been out for far, far too long below!
so . i don't know if you're familiar with the 2000s-2010s slenderverse boom where there were just a shit ton of people creating youtube series based off of the slenderman images.
the basic idea of these series is that slenderman is hunting or haunting or just hurting the protagonists for some reason, and they are trying to defeat him or escape. sometimes slenderman just shows up briefly, sometimes he ends up being the main villain.
one of the smaller series is called whispered faith! this is where sean and mo as characters come from. whispered faith is based off the 2006 creepypasta 'the rake,' which talks about a pale humanoid creature that runs around on all fours and whispers terrible prophetic truths about the world.
some basic important stuff to know about whispered faith before i get into sean/mo specifically:
sean is the leader of a cult that worship the rake. it's unspecified in canon how long he's been part of this cult, but he is completely devoted to the rake to the point of destroying himself.
sean is ALSO the main character's childhood friend who went to high school with him. the main character, named lee, at one point goes to sean for shelter after a mysterious cult (oh hm wonder who that could be) invades his home.
mo is lee's best friend. mo spends almost the entire series being the only character with any fucking braincells and a normal moral code, which includes things like 'hey don't kill the guy. yes even if he hurt you we don't kill people.' and 'hey don't meet with the mysterious number texting you, that's not a good idea!'
sean kidnaps mo and attempts to trade with lee - items the family wants for mo back. it doesn't work - mo escapes and lee doesn't have to give up the item, but. yeah. sean also kidnaps lee, and during the time lee spends with sean and the family, sean ends up cutting off one of lee's fingers and mailing it to mo.
this series is two hours long in total and is written by college students and posted to youtube. it's not a wonderful series. it's not super well-written and they drop a lot of very important plot points and very compelling information and then do absolutely nothing with them ever again... so of course i am insane about all the ways i could make it better.
mo and sean die together in mo's basement, where sean has been held for ten months after lee and mo kidnap him.
SO. because there's so little substance to the characters in the original text - they've got basic characteristics, but most of the stuff we end up defining is all just... over-analysis of the same two hours of content.
in my mind, sean is a deeply tragic character. he's 20~ and part of a fictional cult. based on what little clues we get, sean has been in the cult for most of his life, meaning they likely picked him up as a young and vulnerable child. he's supernaturally addicted to the rake's prophetic predictions. he's so sure he's his god's chosen disciple, and then he dies in a dingy basement after staying there for ten months at the hands (claws?) of the creature he has been worshipping for most of his life. and he doesn't even get to die. because he's supernaturally connected to the rake, he ends up wandering forever in its endless realm of thin forest and empty air.
he drives me INSANE.
and so enter mo, this character who has this strong moral compass that tells him people are people, no matter what they do, and everyone - everyone - can get better. this character who has been hurt really fucking badly, has been stalked and watched and beat up and eventually killed by this cult. this character who spends the entire series focused on protecting lee as sean spends the entire series trying to hurt lee.
and i stick them together in a small space, especially post-death in the basement, and i go fucking WILD. one of my favorite spaces to explore them in is in the rake's realm, as if mo ended up there as well - i like the idea of the two of them trying to make a space together in there, sean struggling with being abandoned by the speaker and mo struggling with. well. sean.
i just think that as a pairing, as opposite characters - one who has no moral code, who has spent his life alone and intent on hurting, and one who has such a strong code, who has spent his life with lee and is shown to have several other friends throughout the series and with almost every action works to protect, they are SO fucking fun together.
anyways hahha . im normal about them. yeah. anyways.

do you have any headcannons for ur bug? :) ur silly guy .. guy we gotta put under a aaaa microscope - @knashingmawz
In preparation for this ask, I turned on Sean’s playlist and then immediately forgot about this ask because I HAD to go write a 2k word analysis on my own rp responses. And then I just kept forgetting. So let’s try to do this AGAIN, YAY, turning on the bleed out mountain goats album.
So, as for my Sean, I refer to him as my bug because I have a fascination with him. Specifically in the like . 🔍 studying manner. But also, actually, I do have this headcanon that he has a fascination with bugs. Actually, I like to imagine he likes all sorts of insects and arachnids and then also separate creatures like mollusks. Little things.
Okay, onto more concise headcanons! Things I was told but cannot prove also go under this section, like Sean and Lee being childhood friends, Sean growing up in the cult as opposed to forming it, ect. But I use these to base my thoughts because these make for a fun and fascinating story to me! I like the idea that he grew up like this, and i’ve made a note about this when speaking to some friends, but;
Generally my big ones are on the family and building their worldbuilding and what exactly they stand for in the narrative. My favorite concept is that the leader never survives very long ; the leader is always whoever is most necessary to the goal at the time. Hence, why Sean became leader; he was loyal and as close to a Carrier as anyone could be, he had the means to be useful. Before him, it's always pastors, politicians, police, doctors, ect, people who are important, and the cult teaches the children to grow into these professions to garner as much power as possible. They want their hands everywhere, in everything, hearing and speaking to as many as they can. The Family teaches closeness amongst members, speaks that they are the only ones who will find salvation in the new world, that the Leaders will be the gods that reign alongside The Speaker when the world ends and is started anew (by merging purgatory with the overworld! that one's canon) but! the leader of each sector of the cult (i like to pretend it's much bigger than it likely is) never makes it too long! because someone else is always more useful, more important, like Sean! Therefore, they tend to fall into madness from The Speaker's whispers and pass on at its hands, or kill themselves to escape once it starts getting bad. which, funny enough, was HIS fate too! He tells Lee that he gave up his family and his humanity for the Speaker, of course he’s in it’s world in the afterlife, and it’s “his will.”
Significantly more fucked up headcanon: leaders and important figures to The Family get branded or otherwise 'marked' to display their loyalty and exactly who or what they belong to. Sean got branded when he became leader and at the same time he got REALLY hooked on The Speaker and hes very proud of that fucking mark. "this is my divine right" ass. He’s in deep!! I also like to imagine he leaves this same scar on Lee, sort of binding them together, The Leader and The Carrier, two beings that can never escape their binding fates, they will both be tools for the new world and be together in the afterlife– Sean says this in the series too; they’re going to the same place!
Sean: You think I'd go somewhere else when I died? After sacrificing my humanity- to him? Lee: You're not real! You're not real! Sean: You know- the same thing will happen to you, when you go. Lee: Shut up! Shut up!
This also links into a secondary thought I have about him in which he’s really fucking weird about pain ; The Speaker, canonically, makes whoever it speaks to- sick. Okay, not sick. It actively hurts. It hurts like nothing you've ever felt, according to Lee. And then, if you listen long enough, it has a drug quality to it; Sean is quite literally addicted to his own god! And that shit HURTS, but it feels good, it feels powerful, it feels– right! It becomes necessary, something to attach to, you need it like you need breathing, and you start to associate this pain and agony with good things, pleasure, greatness, going through this means you get this BLESSING of hearing The Speaker’s voice! So now Sean tackles everything with this concept; Pain brings good things, it brings clarity, pain is associated with everything he needs. This doubles; I like to think The Speaker literally warps the way you think. I think , in the sense of a leader , it needs someone cruel and ruthless. We know it's incredibly intelligent, we know it's a mastermind of sorts- it's not hard to make the jump and assume that on top of it all; the irritation and swings of withdrawal, the desperation, all of it- it's fully capable of destroying who you are and turning you into something monsterous in it's image. That's what a good leader should be, ^_^ Resembling their god!
Fuckingngngng freak. I have more thoughts about him. Nicer thoughts. He looks at birds and thinks of Lee. Him and Lee were childhood friends— Sean picks lizards off of bricks and shows them off. They tussle in the grass together. They get fuckin drunk off their asses in the back of Sean’s busted ass car and talk about the future– Sean always said he never knew what he wanted to do. He meant it, because his fate was already decided by someone else. Him and Mo knew each other because of this. He never really had stuffed animals as a kid and he thinks theyre really dorky but he keeps getting them as gifts and from games and shit and he really likes them . he wears almost exclusively graphic tees and band tees and its weird as FUCK to see him wearing anything else. adnd ten million more things but god this is a long post can you send me another ask /silly
overall, one thing: he is THIS FUCKIN SONG! canaries in the coal mine by john congleton and the nighty nite. thats sean wf.

the way I often write for sean is this, inherently angry guy. like the concepts of sean growing up in a cult works its way into permissions on what he was allowed to do, growing up with no control over himself nor his life, only to suddenly find himself in a state where he is the most useful man alive. he was the one closest to a carrier. his old friend. and then hes the leader, hes the one the speaker needs the most, god's favorite shepard, he's in control. and he's also not, lost to his own addiction, hand outstretched for his god, barely containing himself.
he's angry! he's in control. this newfound control is so easy to abuse when youve never truly been there. he mentions giving up his family, his friends, his whole life- he has nothing but his god and the blood beneath his nails.
and then, of course, the misery that comes with withdrawal. irritation. reckless behavior. the craving for something to sooth it all. its fun to write for him.
i also write him a little sadistic! most of it is violent intrusive thoughts and the behavior that the speaker has influenced and normalized causing him to act on it, and then taking joy in that because it feels like a source of control, again. that and the fact that- speaking to his god hurts! its a painful experience! but it brings pleasure, it brings relief, and he begins associating pain with relief from a young age. that makes you a pretty angry guy too
