Puppeteering My Slave
Tumblr media
Four best friends live in this beautiful plush ole fashion mansion pervading with modern technology they invite me to their home for a Hypnosis session.
Apparently, they all have anger issues that have them dealing with the results of their actions actually and it is so fucking weird I mean.
My cab arrives at the gates they open up in a big huff shaking as the driver parks by the front pond, I pay the guy off then exit the car and head for the door.
The door swings open up with a whoosh of air flowing through the air conditioner is on extremely loud and the mansion is fucking cold.
He guides me to the living room offering me a drink then sits down with this evil glare aimed at me like a laser ready to shoot if j move.
He sighs slamming his fist he demands for us to commence then crosses his arms in an annoyance facial expression on his face it to idiotic.
Rolling my eyes I place a giant black back pack the unzip it reaching for the interesting looking objects and place it on the glass table.
James is having a what the fuck moment at the sight of this strange object that he gives a slowly flick as the pendulum rotates side to side.
Instantly his eyes fall from mine focusing on to the pendulum going back and forth the light hits the glass casting a strange shadow over him.
I enjoy all of this yawning a bit my arms are on full strength outstretching into the air in a row of succession and he is sock swept into the darkness.
I rise to my feet standing over him letting the trance be induced I help him to visualize his own submissive plane an exact copy of his living room.
Upon my instructions James stands on top of the staircase as he takes a few steps down counting away to his own self destructive demise.
The projection of his mind swirls from his eyes on to the walls emitting a black and white spiral spinning widely out of control before him.
He is soon fraught in a sea of trouble that holds him back as he struggles to even try to escape and calling him to relinquish all control.
A door fall from the ceiling landing in front of him he steps down grabbing the handle in his palms he twist the knob then walks in to the room.
The door closes behind him ceiling shut in his own mind I can see transformation upon him and I snap my fingers as his body falls in.
Falling forward his body laying on his lap his head and legs drips down hitting the floor as I consume him completely and I am in charge.
Laughing bit I let my echoes go through the air swirling as it hit the wall bouncing across the world and it hits his head hard as he is screaming.
“How can I help you? What is your issue?”
“You know the deal anger management”
“Ok then! So Sam take a gander at this.”

Darkness at Dawn - Ch. 1
Title: Darkness at Dawn Author: aliciameade Rating: M/E Pairing: Stephanie Smothers/Emily Nelson Summary: Even Bonnie & Clyde met their fate eventually.
Set five years after "Baby."
Also on AO3
Tumblr media
“Smooch, honey, can you get the door?”
“Bro, stop calling me that!”
“Letting him answer the door unsupervised? What if it’s a stranger here to abduct him?” Emily whispers in her ear conspiratorially. She pitches her voice toward the living room where their messy-haired pre-teen sons have been playing Fortnite for the past hour. “Connor, she’ll stop calling you ‘Smooch’ if you stop calling us ‘bro’!”
They’re making dinner—well, Stephanie is making dinner; Emily is observing over a shared martini. “He’s twelve and we know everyone in this village. It’s probably just Helen dropping off tomatoes from her garden. She mentioned she’d be stopping by soon.”
Her response surprises even herself. She’s spent the better part of the past six years working on her anxiety and propensity to helicopter-parent her children. Life is slow in Santorini. Stephanie—Alyson Reid, as the town knows her—is the proud owner of the bakery she began working part-time after she got a new identity and flew halfway around the world from Connecticut to start a new life in Greece.
After she killed her wife’s troubled, secret twin sister and set up Emily’s then-husband Sean for the murder of his wife. It had been surprisingly easy—the framing, not the killing. She’d sown a few seeds of suspicion with the detective working the case. Emily confided that he had been cheating. Emily asked for a divorce. Sean had a dark side, and Emily was afraid of him. So afraid that Emily had signed over her assets to her best friend Stephanie Smothers to ensure her son Nicky would be taken care of should anything ever happen to her. A pillar of Warfield, Stephanie’s testimony at Sean’s trial was the final nail in their old lives’ coffins.
She and Emily just celebrated their third wedding anniversary a few weeks ago. They’d gotten married on the coast of the island of Lesbos, an idea Emily had come up with over a second bottle of wine that had made herself laugh so much that Stephanie had no choice but to agree. They’d sailed there as a family, something they were both proud of being able to do on their own. They took their vows at sunset, the only guests were their sons and two people Emily had bribed with a hundred Euros each to be their witnesses, and they’d found the officiant by asking around.
After their honeymoon in Portugal, Stephanie changed the name on her passport for the third time in her life: first from her maiden name to Stephanie Smothers, to Alyson Barrett, and finally to Alyson Reid, Dillon Reid’s new wife. Dillon Reid, formerly known as Emily Nelson, formerly known as Claudia, formerly known as Hope McLanden. Brothers Connor and Devon Reid, formerly known as Miles Smothers and Nicky Townsend.
They’ve lived a dozen lives.
The boys don’t remember much about their past, and they’ve forgotten their old names. Stephanie still calls her son ‘Smooch’ because that’s never had to change. She didn’t have to abandon Smooch.
She and Emily tend to stick to pet names most of the time as well; it’s easier that way. More natural, at least when they’re around other people.
Behind closed doors, in the privacy of their home, away from even their children, an old name might slip out now and then, especially during a thoughtless moment brought on by passion.
Though Emily’s rarely called her anything more than ‘Baby’ since the day they met.
“Proud of you for taking off the training wheels.” She feels Emily’s hand catch her chin and turn her face to kiss her soundly despite Stephanie actively chopping a zucchini.
She smiles into the kiss and it makes the part of her still a bit tender from their morning start to ache. “What time’s your game tomorrow?” she asks when they part.
Dillon Reid is the head coach of the secondary school’s boys’ soccer—football—team. She’s always been good at getting men of all ages to do what she says.
“9:30, so I’ll probably be gone before you’re awake. Warm-up’s at 8:00.”
Tomorrow is Saturday and Stephanie’s only day off from the bakery. Thankfully, as the boss, she doesn’t have to be there before dawn like her employees need to be to bake off the day’s inventory, but she makes a point to be on-site almost every day. She loves her team and she loves her customers, and she’s gotten pretty darn good at speaking Greek with the immersion in the culture.
“Okay, we’ll meet you there. Wanna go to Apollo’s afterward for lunch?”
Emily groans. “That place is such a tourist trap. I don’t know why you love it so much.”
“Because it’s the only place on this island that knows how to make an American cheeseburger. Pleeeeease?” she pouts, knowing she’ll get her way.
“Fine,” Emily says with an eye roll. “I’m getting onion rings.”
“Uh, Mom?” Connor’s voice is strained as it floats through the living room to the kitchen and Stephanie drops the knife onto the cutting board. “Mom!”
“What? What is it?” she says, rushing into the other room. She hears Emily follow and before she’s finished processing the two men wearing dark suits standing in their doorway, her son looking back at her, eyes wide, Emily’s stepped in front of her.
“Emily Nelson?” the man asks.
Emily doesn’t respond. The arm she’s wrapped around Stephanie in a reverse embrace tightens.
“Stephanie Smothers?”
“Bro, what?” Devon says from the floor where he is still playing their video game. “You got the wrong house.”
“Devon,” Emily admonishes.
Stephanie’s heart is in her throat. She feels she might pass out and leans into Emily’s strong frame, wrapping her arms around her waist. She breathes in her perfume. She thinks about the game they’re going to miss tomorrow. About Emily and their sons proposing to her in the very spot they’re standing now asking her to be a family. How they thought they had been so careful.
“Boys, I need you to go upstairs, please,” she says urgently, hoping the fear she’s feeling isn’t as evident in her voice as it sounds to herself. She hears Devon pause the video game and the shuffling of the boys grabbing their phones and chargers and has an even worse realization than she’d already had.
She steps out from behind Emily just in time for Connor—forever her little curly-haired Miles—to pass and she wraps him in a hug that makes him groan and protest until he seems to understand something serious is going on and he hugs her back. He’s as tall as she is now. “Listen to me, sweetheart,” she whispers in his ear. “You know the safe in my closet?” She feels him nod. “The combination is your birthday. There’s a red envelope inside. Call Helen. Ask her to come over. Give her the envelope. Do you understand?”
“Yeah. What’s going on?”
“I’ll explain when I can. Everything I did, I did so we could be happy. Remember that I love you.” She kisses his forehead and chokes back a sob before he can notice the tears in her eyes. “Upstairs.”
She can hear Emily whispering to Devon as well and then the boys stop and switch to hug their other mother, and they disappear upstairs.
She and Emily are now alone in their living room, two men at the open door, each holding a thick packet of folded paperwork.
“I’m Detective Inspector William Gareau. This is Sergeant Mark Gibson. We are agents of INTERPOL. Do you know why we’re here?”
Emily’s hand intertwines with Stephanie’s. Neither responds.
The men step forward, crossing the threshold into their home, their sanctuary, and that’s when Stephanie realizes it’s not just two men—half a dozen black-uniformed officers follow, flooding into the house and flanking them, surrounding them. Nowhere to go.
The Detective Inspector unfolds the papers in his hand. The officers in the room move. She’s pulled away from Emily, fingers slipping out of her grip as her hands are pulled behind her back. As cold steel clicks around her wrists.
“Stephanie Ann Smothers and Emily Claudia Nelson: I'm arresting you for the murder of Faith Margaret McLanden, having taken place in the State of Connecticut, the country of the United States of America, insurance fraud, money laundering, kidnapping, conspiracy, perjury, and false identification. You do not have to say anything, but it may harm your defense if you do not mention when questioned something you later rely on in court. Anything you do say may be given in evidence. Do you understand?”
She’s not sure she’s able to speak. She’s dizzy. The room is spinning.
“It’s going to be okay, baby,” is the last thing she hears before her ears start ringing and her world goes dark.

'...Maricel Pagulayan, a Fil-Am Visual Effects Producer, won an Emmy this year for the single episode in "Ripley" entitled "Ill Sommerso" on Netflix. Pagulayan is known for her work on "Valkyrie" (2008), "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow" (2004), and "Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation" (2015)...
Congratulations on your Emmy win for "Ripley" on the "Ill Sommerso" episode! What is the significance of this win for you?
It's been a long journey on "Ripley." We shot at the end of COVID-19 in Italy starting in April 2021 as the world and industry were in the midst of tremendous change.
How did you get the gig on "Ripley"?
Line Producer, Clayton Townsend and I worked briefly on a budget for a Sony show. Then he reached out as he started prepping for "Ripley."
How was it working with filmmaker Steven Zaillian? Have you worked with him before?
I had not worked with Steve before, but I had heard so much about his work ethic and his previous shows as a writer, director and producer. Hard not to think of "Schindler's List." He's a good guy.
So, did you work in Italy as well?
Yes.
How was that experience and how long were you there?
May 2021 to March 2022. Lovely to work in Italy, it was a dream to work with an Italian crew in beautiful locations. VFX work on "Ripley" is what I call "invisible effects". The audience should not know we shot today for period 1960's and of course the water work in "Ill Sommerso."
What challenges did you encounter in doing the visual effects on this show considering that Zaillian wanted it in black and white?
We always knew black and white was Steve and Robert, DP's preference. We managed a dual color and B/W workflow. It's a much more complicated workflow from shoot to post final but very much worth it.
Did you get to meet the cast – Andrew Scott, Dakota Fanning and Johnny Flynn? How were they? Any memorable experiences?
I worked with all the cast – every day. All the water work with Andrew and Johnny was memorable. Working in water is always a challenge. Dakota was a true professional...'

Murphy and his two youngest daughters were forced from their Southbridge home on Feb. 11, 2021, when constables showed up at their Townsend Street door and presented eviction documents that named a previous tenant, who was a woman. Murphy showed constables his lease, which he later shared with Delaware Online/The News Journal. The lease, which ran from Nov. 15, 2020, through Nov. 30, 2021, was signed by the landlord, Kenneth Stanford, and Murphy.  A judge later confirmed Stanford's signature by matching it to other legal documents the landlord had signed.
The Murphys were forced to leave behind school laptops, an urn holding the ashes of Murphy's wife, who died in 2018, and several other belongings. Justice of the Peace Court Deputy Chief Magistrate Sean P. McCormick said during an emergency hearing on Feb. 18, 2021, after Murphy filed wrongful eviction motions, that Stanford likely perjured himself in court filings and went so far as to read the landlord his rights against self-incrimination after he said he "misrepresented" the facts to the court.
On Tuesday, Connolly dismissed the case. Among the reasons he gave for dismissing were: - As an arm of the state, Justice of the Peace Court is not subject to suit under the civil action for deprivation of rights section for either damages or equitable relief. - The plaintiffs cannot seek relief in this matter because they did not provide factual allegations that imply the defendants are engaged in ongoing violation of federal law. - Constables are entitled to administrative immunity when executing facially valid orders.
this is some serious bullshit

One of the funniest things about the LXG film (2003) and the studio politics around it when you look back twenty years later is how outside of Sean Connery being the big star (to the movie's detriment tbh), the studio was absolutely banking on Shane West as Tom Sawyer being the breakout star of the movie, especially for the American and female demographics, so much so that it's obvious from the deleted scenes and even what was left in the final print that if they couldn't get Connery back for the sequel, he would have been upgraded to the new protagonist and team leader, as well as getting the main romance with Mina, and at the time, Shane West was a rising star and teen heartthrob coming in super hot from 'A Walk to Remember' (2002) and I definitely remember him being very popular; likewise, even though he was only signed on for one film as Dorian Gray for obvious reasons, Stuart Townsend was also on the rise as a sexy heartthrob after his turn as Lestat in 'Queen of the Damned' (2002) and had just lost out on Aragorn in LotR after it was decided he was too young for the role after like, the first day of filming, so while secondary to Shane, he was obviously also there as a popular hot guy to draw in the ladies or whatever, and he's the only man in the film who gets any romantic scenes.
Anyway, all this to say that while both of them definitely had a lot of people and women in particular finding them super hot as expected, the big surprise is how I don't think the studio was banking on obscure British character actor Jason Flemyng as Jekyll being called in at almost the last minute and made to look as wet and pathetic as possible, even in his shirtless scenes with his abs out, arguably getting the most horny on main reactions and being one of the most well-liked characters and actors in the film, and while we will never know for sure, I do wonder how that unexpected popularity would have factored into decisions about where to take the story and characters in the sequel, especially on the romance front where, as I have argued before, it felt like the studio half-assed both options to hedge their bets and not commit before seeing what would be more popular.

Darkness at Dawn - Ch. 7
Title: Darkness at Dawn Author: aliciameade Rating: M/E Pairing: Stephanie Smothers/Emily Nelson Summary: Even Bonnie & Clyde met their fate eventually.
Set five+ years after "Baby."
Also on AO3
Tumblr media
She doesn’t visit Emily after that, despite her intentions; it’s too painful. They communicate via email. Emily calls her now and then but doesn’t ask her to visit. Stephanie knows they’re both trying to navigate their new normal, to grieve what they’ve lost, to adjust to their realities. They keep the conversation focused on their children: Miles’s hockey game, Nicky making the junior varsity football—American football—team. How agreeable or disagreeable Sean is any given day.
He’d managed to fully strip Emily’s custody rights. It wasn’t hard once she’d confessed to murder. His bitterness toward his ex-wife is so strong that he wants to punish her in every way he can, to give her a taste of her own medicine and steal her child.
He listens to Stephanie, though. Sometimes. She gets him to agree to take Nicky to see Emily that Christmas. “She’s still his mother, Sean, whether you like it or not,” she’d lectured until he finally relented. He even agreed to take Miles.
Sometimes Emily asks how Stephanie’s doing in a way that she knows Emily’s fishing for more details about her personal life, like she wants to know if Stephanie’s moved on (she hasn’t). Stephanie tries not to think about the things Emily likely does to maintain her position of authority amongst her peers. Sex is as much a currency in prison as a bag of potato chips. Perhaps Emily had made herself let go of Stephanie as much for herself, for her survival, as she’d done to try to ensure Stephanie could still live a happy life.
Time passes and it stretches into years. Being a single mom again, of a teenager now waiting to hear back from his list of dream universities, consumes her life. She’d missed being a P.T.A. mom but happily declined the opportunity to run for president of the organization, something she would have run a legitimate campaign for before she’d met Emily. She likes being a mom and being a woman with a full-time job.
She’s not sure they’d vote for a felon anyway.
She’d learned to balance her involvement with her son’s schooling when they lived overseas. So much of her need to be overbearing had been rooted in fear that if she wasn’t watching over him every moment, something would happen to him and the need to protect him following the death of his father.
Unfortunately, the worst things to happen to him had been her own doing.
She’s compiling graduation party invitations for the boys, a task Sean had happily allowed her to do for Nicky—Nicholas, as he now demands to be called—when her phone chimes with an email notification. She only gets notifications if the email is from Emily, and she smiles as she picks it up to check the message.
Hi, baby. (She hasn’t used that name for Stephanie in more than a year and it makes her heart race.)
I’m always the alpha.
xo
That’s all it says, and she refreshes the application a few times in case it didn’t load the entire message, but there’s nothing else. She doesn’t understand the cryptic note and taps out a quick reply asking for an explanation before going back to her project.
She’s distracted by it the rest of the day, and her mind drifts back to it often over the next few weeks.
~*~*~*~*~*~
“Miles Christopher Smothers.”
Stephanie had come prepared to cry her eyes out at her boys’ graduation ceremony. They’d all been through so much and come so far. She was even sitting with Sean at the event, though they did little more than exchange comments of mutual pride and make generic people-watching comments.
“Nicholas Paul Townsend.”
She’s wiping away tears when something draws her attention. She’s not sure how, or from where, but she’s caught the faint scent of Dennis Nylon’s signature perfume. Her eyes search the audience with hope, and quickly feels foolish. Thousands of people wear that perfume. Even ten years later, it’s as popular as ever. Emily’s not the only person to wear it.
Stephanie plays hostess after the ceremony. She’s organized a joint graduation reception for the boys. They have a community in Providence now: classmates, teammates, Stephanie’s new friends, and her mother are there. Sean and his parents who’ve flown in from London. They make a lot of whispered comments behind Stephanie’s back as if she can’t hear them. She does and offers them a cup of tea anyway.
She takes plenty of photos to email to Emily later in between carrying trays of hors d'oeuvres to the backyard of the house she bought last year. She flits about, socializing with other parents, discussing college plans, whose child is going where on what scholarship—the classic suburban pissing contest.
Someone spills their drink and she hurries back to her kitchen to fetch a towel to help clean up and stops dead in her tracks.
“Nice party.”
Emily is standing in her kitchen leaning against the counter. She’s dressed smartly in dark slacks and a white sleeveless blouse. Black patent leather loafers. Her hair is loose in the same beachy waves it’s always had. The room is filled with the scent of her perfume. She looks exactly the way Stephanie had chosen to remember her.
Her mouth goes dry. “Emily?”
“Hi, baby.” Emily smiles at her and holds out a hand. “I missed you.”
“What are you—” she takes a staggering step forward, bracing herself against the refrigerator. “How—” Two more steps and her arms are around Emily’s neck, pulling her down to kiss her. Her head is spinning with a thousand questions and she feels Emily smile against her lips and her hands on her waist.
Emily pulls back after a few seconds and tilts her head toward the backyard. “Hang on; do you have a husband waiting for you out there? Or a wife?” Her eyes betray her cool expression. There’s jealousy living in the question. And hope.
Stephanie shakes her head, her hands still running over Emily’s frame in disbelief as if she might vanish. But she’s here. In her house. She’d mourned the end of their relationship, but she never fell out of love with her. “Only you. It’s always only been you.”
“I’ve been waiting so long to hear you say that,” Emily says before lifting Stephanie and turning to place her on the counter. They’ve done this so many times, but never in this kitchen, not in this house, not after so much time separated. Her hands are on Stephanie’s thighs beneath her dress when Stephanie stops them.
“Wait, wait, wait.” She can barely breathe. She’s overcome with emotions. Confusion, excitement, lust. She has a million questions and the look on Emily’s face makes it challenging to form even one. She’s maybe on the verge of tears, and maybe about to ravage Stephanie to the edge of consciousness.
“Everyone’s outside,” she manages. “Miles and Nicholas. Sean. His family. My mom. Em, are you even allowed to be here? How are you here right now?”
Emily kisses her again and withdraws her hands to rest them on Stephanie’s waist. “I told you, baby. I’m always the alpha.”
Stephanie can only laugh in disbelief. “Does anyone know you’re out?”
“No, no one knows yet.”
“Can you come see Nicholas? I know he’ll just flip. Miles, too. They’ve mentioned you so many times today. Or are you hiding? Or—”
“Nicholas?” Emily’s smile as she uses his more mature name is as bright as Stephanie remembers it. “I’d love that.” They kiss once more and Emily helps her off the counter.
“Go surprise them. I’ll join you in a minute.”
She watches in awe from the kitchen window overlooking her backyard and hears Emily call out from the porch, “Hey, little dudes!”
They’re not little at all anymore. Nicky is as tall as his father now. She watches both their sons look up from their phones and sees the shock on their faces. “Mom?!” It’s Nicky and he drops his phone and trips over a folding chair. “Holy shit, Mom!”
Stephanie watches the reunion from afar and sees the joy on the faces of their guests who aren’t privy to the gravity of what’s happening, other than a surprise visit of a mother perhaps returning early from a business trip.
Sean’s face is ashen and Stephanie wonders if he might be sick. Instead, he sits down on the grass and holds his face in his hands in defeat. Stephanie had implored him when she settled in Providence to not share details about their lives with members of their community. She deserved a clean slate, she argued, and it would do nothing but harm to Nicky if Sean went around telling people his mother was in prison for murder.
Perhaps he regrets that choice today as there’s nothing to detract from the joyous surprise appearance, no gossip about a murderer being in their midst. Nothing but happiness.
She rejoins the party after the initial excitement wanes. Emily doesn’t let Stephanie far from her side the rest of the afternoon; not that Stephanie tries to leave it. They chat with the other parents, Emily effortlessly making up stories to fill in the blanks in her timeline and the curiosity about her identity.
The boys stick close as well. They haven’t hugged their mother in years. Not since the day INTERPOL arrived at their home and shattered their bubble. They barely showed Stephanie affection, the independent young adults that they’d become. Still, there’s a childlike energy to both of them now as they introduce Emily to their friends and show her things on their phones. Eventually, Stephanie is left behind with a blown kiss when Miles insists she check out his bedroom and she watches her children and her…well, she’s not quite sure what or who Emily is to her now…disappear into the house.
“What have you done?” Sean’s voice is behind her and she feels him glowering. She’s grateful plenty of others are present; he can’t do something he might regret. At least, not physically.
“If you think I have any control over what she does or how she does it—”
“Don’t lie to me,” he hisses. “Everything she’s done, she’s done it for you.”
She’s glad he’s looming behind her so he can’t see the smile on her face. “I know.” But, she decides to let him see it, turning to face him. “But that doesn’t mean I asked for it. That’s what love is, Sean.”
